An alley at Calle Sturiaga
San Marco, Filindostan

Prior to the start of the qualifying campaign for World Cup 82, Dina had planned to meet some of her friends who came from Bandariyan, who visited San Marco for a concert by the 7Seven Gang and Jeffrox at the Anetta Coliseum, and they wanted to meet Dina in the Central Mall in Downtown San Marco. Dina brought with her small handbag, which contained some of her cosmetic tools and a small pocket journal, which she always bring wherever she goes. As captain of both Fortunas and the Filindostan National Team, it is important that she keeps notes of every Filindostani match she has played, even if she's watching from the sideline either by injury, suspension, or whenever she's in the bench waiting for her turn to come onto the pitch as a substitute. Unusually, she places her wallet in her pocket - she does not bring with her a large wallet when she goes out of her apartment near the border of San Marco and Bagtasan.

While walking down the alley, she received a call from one of her friends.

"Hello? Santy, is that you? Where are you guys?"

It is unusual to have no bodyguards to accompany people of fame and importance, like Dina, though she's always present on a field, without her makeup and foundation, this day, she groomed herself more than the usual, to the point that majority of people would not notice that the girl that is walking in the alley is actually a national athlete playing for the country. Include the fact that she wore some sunglasses, that further masks her face from anyone that might notice her. People would ask her, "Why would you not drive a car?"; She would always answer, "My car is in the repair shop", "Or my car is under number coding for this day", but the reality is that she had trauma with driving, as the last time she was on the steering wheel of a car, it almost took her life, and eventually took the life of her ex-boyfriend.

It was an unlucky day for Dina. A young man, aged 16, with rugged clothes, and appearing like he had not taken a bath for months, approached the football player from behind while distracted with her phone call, and grasped the handbag from the shoulders of Dina. The force of the snatching caused Dina's phone to propel and fall into the concrete, breaking the LCD screen. But more importantly, the handbag was taken away from her by a street child.

"Help! Anyone catch that snatcher!" Dina panicked for a while, but she composed herself, and started chasing the boy who had the handbag. The volume of people in the alley, plus the different paths of the alley, prevented her from further chasing the snatcher. She was very tired, she still had the phone with her, though the display can be barely seen, with Santy still on the line.

"My bag got snatched. Though the contents were not so much important. Where are you guys? I'll go there." She said, like nothing has happened.

The boy meanwhile, was able to get away from the chasing people, turned into a slightly dark alley, and opened the bag he recently snatched. He cannot see any contents of worth, other than makeup, foundation, some feminine napkins, and a small notebook journal. He threw the other contents, save for the handbag, and the notebook.

He opened the notebook and see some notes about the matches the national team had. It was the matches where the Filindostani had their World Cup 81 qualifying campaign, written on a good permanship, and with a lot of insight. The kid understood some of the terminologies he saw - terms that can only be had while playing football. As he started reading the contents, a man grabbed the nape of the kid, grabbed both of his arms, and tried to handcuff him.

"You're under arrest. I'll bring you back to the Ministry of Social Welfare."

Scorers: Živkov 25', Korošeć 31', 41', 87', Zupan 50' :: Bochog 3', 47', Ina 89'

The Pula Garuda were put back to earth after a inspired performance to take a point at their travel to Jhanna. Their second away game in as many matches was a very disappointing one, as they conceded five goals again, after conceding five in one of the pre-qualifying friendlies. Tonyo had a very poor day, being responsible for three of the five conceded goals. Spilling the ball after a strike by Filip Markov, Irakliy Živkov was in the perfect place at the perfect time as he pounced on the rebound for the first goal. One of Rafael Korošeć's three goals could have been easily avoided, as he prioritized his complaining to the referee, raising his hand when a play appeared to be offside, completely taking him by surprise in the 41st, and poor positioning in the corner that lead into Ilia Zupan's header in the 50th minute.

Filindostan started well after Bochog scored in the third, however, poor performances from the defence kept the Baptism of Fire 66 winners winless after two games - they have to pick up the pieces and start winning matches, as they play their first home match of their campaign, when Omerica visit the Filindostan National Stadium for their third match of the campaign.

Tonyo is expected to be dropped by Twilight Striker in their next match, and she might spring a few surprises on who will start in the Omerica match. Maybe we can see some players making their international debuts there.

Historic Trip Awaits,
by Chelsea Dufresne, Concord Heights

Ahhh, Starblaydia. Such an historic place. A place that was even seen fit for the World Assembly to commend it. We’ll never be part of that, but I’m sure the Queen would have approved that too. A place obsessed with history. Seriously, their record keeping is so good that I bet you that they can tell you what their all-time record is when games were played on a Friday, when cutoff (err, gametime) was between 7pm and 10pm, their time. A place as obsessed with a color as we are. Purple does look good next pink.

Ahhh, Starblaydia, such a place with regional pride. Atlantian Oceania is a nice place. It’s no Rushmore, but certainly a region in the top three of the world. Half of the World Cup proper is going to be played there, and half will be played in another of the top three regions.

Ahhh, Starblaydia, a place with such excellent sports history. The number five, to them, means the amount of World Cups that they have won. That is 250% more then the number of World Cups that we have been able to win. But wait! People old enough to remember the last time that they won such a World Cup are even older then the people who can remember the last that we did! You know that makes their fans see red, and not purple. The number five, to us, means that amount of major sports that we have won the title in. Which five is more enviable? Well, that’s all subjective.

Both Cassadaigua and Starblaydia have been doing this World Cup thing for quite some time. They are one of the ever shrinking number of nations that has been involved in this far longer then the Queen was even bothering with international sports. The nations have met seven times over the years. Yeah, I don’t usually have this type of information readily available for me to access, but on this I do. All time, we are 3-2-2 against the Purple, and are probably one of the few nations that actually has a winning record against them. Our first win against them came in the group stage of that great World Cup 50, where knocking out Starblaydia was part of our journey to winning the prestigious championship. Our most recent meeting came in Valanora, during World Cup 61, a game that ended in a 1-1 draw. It’s been a long time, hasn’t it?

Cassadaigua had the chance to make it to Starblaydia for World Cup 80, but after a dismal qualifying effort, they had to head to the Cup of Harmony instead. We also could have played in Equestrian States, the nation we recently co-hosted the Cup of Harmony with. We’ve never played in the qualifiers before, so it’s an interesting head to head between two nations with storied histories that really have not clashed all that much. There is not much difference in the ranks between us, them being #17 and us being #22. Starblaydia also does boast a younger roster then is their norm while we are veteran group, and that could be an interesting factor in determining who wins this group. Both nations aspire to make it out of the group, and the conventional prediction will likely suggest that as long as us and Starblaydia take care of our own business, that we will both be heading to the World Cup. Stadii Di Bradini is one of the greatest venues in all of sports, but it is rare that we have had the chance to send our senior team here. Let’s enjoy a great match!

Prior to this game, Cassadaigua knocked off The Sherpa Empire, 3-1, in the opening game at Concord Heights Stadium. You can read full coverage of the match by clicking here. Fillies goal scorers were Rachel Brenner (her 1st), Hannah Ranucci (her 2nd), and Chelsea Monroe (her 1st). Cassadaigua has now had eight different goalscorers on their nine goals thus far.

OOC: Due to the significance of Starblaydia v Cassadaigua, I took a break from my planned stadium naming project. That will continue afterwards.

A Sonnet on the Fucking Bastard Referee in the Acapais Match
By Shilliam Wakespeare (Holy Empire WC 82 squad)

Let me the fucking referee accuse
Of black-clad bastardry and other crimes
That sorely tempt me now to lose my cool
When evidence of his base nature I do find.
Three penalties he gave to Acapais
And disallowed a Holy Empire goal
The snivelling and sneering fucking knave;
That toad-horned biased bastard evil troll.
But still the vict'ry now is ours alone
The foul shit hath not stilled our rise to first.
I hope the hosts will this base beast disown
And let no others by his deeds be cursed.
A win's a win - or so Tzimisces said -
So I'll now rest and put this match abed.

THE NEW TEAM FROM MISEI CITY
"The Cauldron at the Gateway", Misei's new stadium
THE IMPERIAL HINODEJIN INTERDIMENSIONAL GATEWAY, MISEI CITY -
Albeit very little has come from the new team out of Misei City, things have officially started out, for the team unveiled their new stadium, a state of the art venue that has been completed after a mere two weeks. Reportedly, the venue was built by cyborgs out of Chaolan Zaibatsu and was funded by a myriad of local companies as well as the aforementioned Zaibatsu. The stadium allows an attendance of 80,000 and will be tested by local sides while the new team forms itself.

The stadium was built at the western portion of the city and is planned to serve as the heart of a portion of the city where industries and commerce would thrive, away from the pollution currently striking at the eastern portion of Misei. "We believe that the Cauldron will be very successful in breathing life in the west of Misei City. Our city has recently reached the mark of 120,000 inhabitants, so we feel like the venue is acceptable by the local standards. This, to us, is an accomplishment in Misei history and we hope to improve in the future."

In other news, the team's poll for a name has been also unveiled. Click here to vote. Voting will be available for the next twenty-four hours, so make sure to vote fast. Additionally, the team has announced that it'll be running trials next week. The idea here is that they'll start with local trials with foreigners and talent from inside of the Empire participating in trials later in the same week, apparently on Thursday. Expenses will be paid for by Chaolan Zaibatsu, so that's a perfect opportunity for those that don't have anything on them to maybe find themselves playing for the Empire's newest professional football team.

Last-Minute Flicker Frustates La Nacional in Home Opener

SWANGARD (VAP) — The Valladar national football team were forced to settle for a 4-4 draw in their first home match of the current World Cup qualifying campaign by a brave Competitive Solitaire squad who lived up to their nation's name and left Valladares with a precious point thanks to a last-minute goal by striker Ferdinand van de Laar. For Paulo Oliveira's side, this was an undesirable result by every account, although their large win in the first match in Ashaie and the fact that Abanhfleft, Savojarna, and Vilita have started dropping points to each other have all helped reduce damage to Valladares' chances in the early stretch of qualification.

La Nacional entered the pitch of the National Stadium eager to emulate the performance from the previous match in Ashaie in front of a raucous partisan crowd of 92,696 people, however, the visitors were able to keep the dangerous Valladar strikers at bay for the first quarter of the match, with Wilfried Baume being given a special marking by leftback Bram Romeijn. Although Competitive Solitaire were doing an outstanding job in closing the paths for the Izotz Zubia striker, Andy Navarro was able to penetrate their defensive wall and had the chance to score the opener for La Nacional in the 20th minute, but his shot went just wide. This, along with the increased support from the fans, encouraged the Valladars to push for the first goal, which eventually came after Ronald Mickel intercepted a pass from centerback Kurt Blecher and finished the job with a nice shot to the left of goalkeeper Slavko Vuković to put Valladares ahead after 25 minutes. However, Competitive Solitaire's reaction would not take too long, with the visitors moving forward and scoring the equalizer thanks to Davorin Schröder, who took advantage of the slow return by Martín Delgado in order to score ten minutes after La Nacional's opener. After this goal, the match became an authentic back-and-forth affair, with both teams attacking each other and responding to the other's attempts to break the deadlock. That offensive frenzy in the final minutes of the first half brought another couple of goals, with Wilfried Baume putting the hosts ahead in the scoreboard in the 43rd minute, after getting rid of Romeijn with a quick 40-meter race to the visitors' box, and Competitive Solitaire once again equalizing just before halftime after rightback Jaír Marrugo wrongly deflected a corner kick into Paulo Gaviria's goal.

For the second half, Paulo Oliveira noted Christian O'Brien's poor first half performance and decided to replace him with Olympique de Fontvielle captain Gaëtan Malicki, hoping to strenghten the team's contention in the midfield. The gamble for Oliveira seemed to work as the team looked more consistent in the middle and the onslaughts by Competitive Solitaire started crashing against the Valladar defense, whilst the team kept control of the ball and had wingers Ronald Mickel and Ronald Vieira constantly bombing the visitors with crosses. Precisely, one of these crosses successfully found Andy Navarro, who only had to head it into the Competitive Solitaire's goal to put Valladares ahead 3-2 in the 67th minute. And 8 minutes later, Wilfried Baume greatly capitalized another communication mistake by the visiting centerbacks with his second brace of the qualifying campaign and fourth goal of the match for the Valladars. However, Competitive Solitaire (and mainly winger Ferdinand van de Laar) left their show reserved for the end of the match, with van de Laar putting the visitors one goal closer in the 82nd minute, and then outspeeding the Valladar players in a counter that ended with the fourth and final goal for the visitors when the clock signaled the 94:12 minute and everyone was preparing the celebrate what would have been the second Valladar victory in as many qualifying matches in this campaign.

The match ended with the Valladars dropping their first points of the campaign at home, and will have to regain the lost ground in their first real challenge of the qualifying campaign as they make the short trip to entertain regional rivals Savojarna, who are now the only team with perfect campaign after 2 matches. With defending World champions Vilita as well as Abanhfleft having won one game and lost the other one, the MD3 showdown between Savojars and Valladars will be a great chance for either side to start opening a gap between them and the rest of the group, including both of their direct rivals: Vilitans and Fleftics.

OOC: For the people who haven't been keeping up with my RPs since 2004 (guaranteed to be 100% of readers, I'm sure), there's been a few loosely intertwined threads to an overall, grander story of Starblaydia as a nation. I appreciate that just providing 32 links going back 4 cups isn't particularly helpful to dissect this story, as some of the (necessarily immortal) characters have been developing over the course of 65 in-character World Cups over almost 15 RL years. The grand picture, however, looks something like this:

World Cup legend and author avatar Simeone Di Bradini has lived for the past 40-plus World Cups as an immortal construct of the Dreamed Realm, thanks to Arch's generosity. In this time, he's saved the multiverse on several occasions, and has also travelled in time, accidentally becoming Starblaydia's version of King Arthur, the once-and-future King Oberyn Starblayde, in his country's ancient past. The Starblayde family, who currently rule Starblaydia, have all been killed off through various ways and means by the evil vampire Lady Viannor, who is currently masquerading as Lady-Protector Korra Starblayde, the hitherto completely imaginary daughter of the former Lord-Protector Julius Starblayde, and is ruling the nation as much as a constitutional monarch who was once the head of the secret services and intelligence agencies can.

Simeone has been informed, by the late "Best in the World" World Cup goalkeeper and prophet Lucas Cable, that Viannor is Korra Starblayde, and will enslave the entire nation. Simeone, together with Starblaydia national team manager Ázëwyn Fëanáro the elf, along with time-travelling dwarven scientist from the future Dalnir, plans to stop Viannor by recruiting a rag-tag band of commandos, via the process of essentially making their own Dreamed Realm constructs of some characters from the past, including Lucas Cable.

Tons of stuff has come before, which one day I will put all together in one place as the grand story arc of Starblaydia across the ages, but World Cup 78 was the start of a specific arc with a vague plan in mind, rather than just going wherever the narrative happened to take me on a given day.

"...that's advancing a rather Krytenian position, isn't it?"

It hadn't taken very long to get the soundbites and talking points out into the cultural sphere. An offhand mention of the colour cyan implied any of a whole host of negative traits, but only in the abstract way that 'red' would imply a communist could that be picked up by the viewer. They didn't quite know exactly what it meant, but their subconscious knew it was the mic drop of a diss track. Similarly, talking about the leader of a group you don't like or agree with as the 'Ace' was another barb from the pages of history that few would directly get the reference to, but all would recognise the subtle hint of an insult, framed as it was in otherwise politically correct language.

Nobody had outright said that they hated Kryties, of course, that wasn't the way to go. It was assumed that someone like racing driver Jai Kardaeri definitely hated those from the western side of the Bekk, but no-one in polite society actually said it out loud. It was in the silly and oddly Spanish accent that the podcasters put on when making fun of someone, it was the comparative story for the Honourable Representative in the Sjarondai, as well as the framing device for the comedian:

"...I was in Krytenia the other week, folks, and I can tell you, they were the ugliest audience I have ever seen. At the end of the show - which had been a pretty good show, only about half of the jokes had gone way over their heads - the house lights came up as they all started to applaud, as I'm sure all of you will do at the end of this. No, not now! Thank you, though, save that enthusiasm for later, just in case. Anyway, the lights come up and I thought I'd accidentally been performing in a barn down the street from the theatre. I mean... woooo-boy. The lights come up and I'm all 'No! Put them down again! Lights off!' and the lights go off, and I'm still lit up on stage and everyone thinks it's a really quick encore. And I'm standing there thinking I'm out of material, you know, I've got nothing prepared and one can only have memorised so many Knock-Knock jokes for these people at once. Highbrow audience. So I pulled out what can only be described as the blag of the century. No, really, they were eating out of the palm of my hand - not literally, of course, I didn't happen to have a freshly chopped bit of carrot in my jacket pocket for them. Tch tch, here boy! There's a good boy. Anyway, what I did was, I astounded them with my mental acuity, with my arithmetic mastery, and basically, a whole bunch of bullshit. I counted up the six times table. For real. You know, the thing that if you haven't learned by the time you're six or seven years old, your parents drive you into the woods on a single track road and let you run free, and they're driving off without you calling back 'No, you'll be fine, darling, you can still get elected as Mayor of Avidia!'. So I'm there like six. Twelve. Eighteen. Twenty-four. And they're applauding. Genuinely applauding. And I get to sixty-five... yeah, that's right. You know it. I got to sixty-five on the multiplication table for the number six and they're still clapping and laughing along, like they're pretending there's actually a joke that they're in on. And it's not long before I get bored of that, and have to say that it's been a lovely time, folks, you've been a great audience, but I gotta go because it's already eight past Ibanez! ...No really folks, you've been great, thank you and goodnight!"

This happened absolutely everywhere, and nowhere was is more genuinely appropriate than on the sports shows. Everyone likes to look across at their rivals, see what their neighbours are up to and how the familiar faces are faring. With two draws from two matches for Krytenia, ranked down in 84th in the multiverse over in Group 15, it was the easiest thing in the world for commentators and analysts to compare the fortunes of the two elven ex-teammates in charge of these national teams. Both had started at Telecontarë, gone on to win two World Cups and between them locked up the top two positions in Goals for Starblaydia, scoring 187 between them (remarkably, this was also Starblaydia's international dialing code) as they made made 512 combined appearances. One had stayed with her nation and taken them to four straight World Cup tournaments. The other had moved to Krytenia, taken up their citizenship, and now was player-manager of their national side. It was quite clear who had the better record, and extremely easy to put the two into a perspective that diminished Valrauncion and promoted Ázëwyn Fëanáro. A relatively straight-forward win away in Omerica only added to this perception, as goals from Kota Sato, Aaron Cole and Calindra Apelles wrapped up a routine victory of the type that Starblaydia would love to have on Matchday Three at home to Cassadaigua. Suddenly the Starblaydi media looked just a little bit nastier, more prone to throw a jibe than a considered opinion, especially when it came to their neighbours from across the lake. No one really knew where it had come from, but it was getting easier and easier to see what it was directed at.

It hadn't quite crept into the everyday language of the Jhanna Chronicle for instance, but for a popular tabloid like the Daily Llama, it was slowly starting to seethe with bad taste jokes at the expense of Krytenians wherever possible. Their habits, their spicy cuisine and their ridiculous fashion sense all came under a mocking eye that was becoming increasingly cruel as the months went on. Most people thought it was a trend, just a meme that people were latching onto thanks to prominent Krytenian involvement in the World Cup and Grand Prix series. At least that's what the most forward-thinking of them hoped.

Tenkyo, Disbelief and relief as the many goals of the match rained down in the stadium. One of the matches with the most goals for the Kandorese team in history, a match to absolutely go down in history as Kandorith reaches for the second place in the group with the number 3 on the same amount of points. Too early to speak of victory but, certainly not too early to cheer for the team's extreme resilience. Facing a match of which Moriyase did not want to speak, against the number 27 of the world; the Kandorese team struck a blow no one expected. Not even Moriyasu as he stood awestruck on the sidelines unable to even shout instructions to the team. The young national team has shown extreme stature and the will to win in this match and more greatness is surely to come if this is the result of Moriyase's idea of constructing a unit out of a shattered Kandorese national team.

Even though many times in the match it seemed like Kandorith would not bounce back into the match as Mercedini was in front most of the match, but the Kandorese side just wouldn't give up. With determination and dangerous counters they would fight and crawl back every time. Masada Katano being the absolute hero of the night as he scored three goals for the Kandorese side, all from a quick counter and effective Kandorese offense. The 19 year old is already one of the most successful Kandorese forwards in modern history. It is beyond any doubt this team is conquering the hearts of the crowd at home and those travelling with the team to the various venues, hopeful for yet another Kandorese success story. Although this time people are hopeful not to end in the qualification phase.

Whereas Moriyase is more careful with his approach to naming it a success. "There have only been two matches played and to be fair the first match did not show what this team is made of yet." he noted. "We have a long way to go and of course the victory over Mercedini is a huge thing for us and of course for the Kandorese people. Although we should not start shouting from the high heavens just yet." he continued; "We have two very difficult matches coming up against some very highly ranked and highly dangerous teams. The only thing I can hope for right now is surviving those two days, which will mean the team is shaping up to be an absolute force within the international football."

Furthermore Moriyase stressed that the focus is to finally qualify successfully from the campaign, which for Kandorith would mean national history. Currently Equestrian States, Krytenia, Garifunya and Indusse are still the greatest challenges this team has to face; but with the recent victory the spirits are high and the team is looking more like a highly efficient machine. For the Kandorese people, the spirit of football has been won back and it has been won back a great deal after the last match. Kandorith will be pushing to the limit to try and get another victory and maybe, maybe even holding on to that second place spot. Back at home the crowd is of course hoping for Kandorith to challenge the number one spot in the group, against all odds.

Godefroy Abascal has come to rue his decision to rest all of his main starters and face off against Skarten with a rotated side after the All Greens lost to Skarten by the score of 1-2. After allowing an early goal, Colin Russell scored a goal to level the game, but a defensive lapse in the matches dying moments left Darmen without a point.

It was defensive midfielder Kerr Ramírez's missed tackle that allowed the Skarten striker to charge past an unaware Cyrus Spalding and shoot past Daniel Abram. After the match, Abascal once again mused about changing Darmen's formation to a 4-2-3-1. "It seems to me that if opposing teams can navigate their way past our midfield, especially our DM, they can be pretty dangerous. Doesn't matter if its Goldschmidt or Ramírez, the back three is just too vulnerable."

Abascal's decision will have to wait however, as Darmen enters its toughest set of matches: a road match against Rushmori rivals Taeshan and a home match against top seeds Free Republics. The latter team is so far undefeated, and sit atop the table along with Cobrio. Abascal laid out the timetable for any tactical changes: "We can't afford to shake things up too much, we'll wait for the match against Gladom Newion before making any changes. Against Taeshan and Free Republics, we need a team familiar with itself and to keep things simple."

Asked if he was over reacting to an early campaign setback, Abascal replied, "No. This has been a change that's been thought about for some time."

Headquarters of the Savojar Foreign Intelligence Agency (Savut), Jaarhove, Savojarna; about four years ago

“Wait, he did what!”

Technically, it was probably a question, but Erik Lidman was not in a mood for questions. Savut’s Rushmori regional leader was only shouting for a moment, though. Lidman controlled himself, even in the face of sheer insurmountable challenges. This one, however, was rather extreme even for his institution’s sometimes rather… mediocre ethical standards and the traditional leeway the KPS had given them.

In front of the tall, serious looking commander stood a younger officer, in uniform rather than the suit that Lidman was wearing. He nodded nervously and wrangled his hands. “Sir, the report has all the information we have. But everything points to the fact that it was as I said, Vitalainen’s forces have crossed the border”, he said. Lidman’s face froze. He opened the file, absently dismissing the officer with an increasingly worried frown. The report showed one thing: General Jussi Vitalainen, a retired army officer that was recruited into the Savut and sent to mission in Sameba, had gone way over his competences. That was not good.

Vitalainen was a former general of the Savojar army, later turned military attaché in Taeshan, then in Eura and finally next door in Sameba. As most Savojar attachés, he sooner or later got into contact with the Savut. Aged 58 and with some combat experience, but none in the last decade or so, he was not much use in the army itself. But he was a good organiser and could keep a force in line, which was why Jaarhove’s central command had sent him into the Sameban conflict. His task was to covertly get a number of Savojar officers and volunteers into the country, recruit a volunteering force of diaspora Savojars and Sameban communists, and help the revolutionary forces in the war.

The list of Vitalainen’s mistakes grew longer and longer as Lidman read on. First, he seemed to just have captured and shot enemy officers without due process - not a good thing either, given that he was there in an official mission, but it was something that would probably not rise too much of an eyebrow in a messy war. The fact that he increasingly seemed to disregard international law was not necessarily making Lidman happy, but the regional commander knew that it would make things unnecessarily difficult. Recruiting people that were too closely aligned with the LKPS was a different thing - the Leninist militias with their near pathological backstabbing and constant strike involvement was not an actor that Lidman wanted to arm. But at least it wasn’t strictly his problem, but the problem of the internal security guys.

When it came to crossing the Euran border and playing around with their supply lines, however, he frowned more and more. Eura and Savojarna were supposed to be at peace, not infiltrating each other. Well, not more than usually. The place where Lidman went past rolling his eyes and straight up into worrying was where the list got to the actual war crimes. Vitalainen had vastly overstepped his consequences when he basically ran an assault on a Sameban position, completely with stretching the laws of warfare. He’d have to check in with the higher-ups. But for now, the best solution was probably to drop the General and pretend that the Savut had nothing to do with it.
MT socialist (mostly) island state - Cultural mixture of Scandinavia, Finland and Russia -Exports iron, steel, silver and wood - Low fantasy in terms of animal species - Sports-loving - 22.8 million inhabitants.

The adjective is Savojar; Savojarnan is not a word!

A Blog

The CURS is BROKEN

DID YOU MIS ME?

Sorry for not being able to tell the TRUTH to the MASSES lately. Ive been trying this really great thing where you lose wate. Its called “not eating or drinking.” Apparently its supposed to work, but Im pretty hungry, so I have some cocoabo every five minutes or so. Its not working for me, though; must be some fad diet. So Ive decided to go on the MercDonalds diet instead; I hear its really amazing.

So sorry everyne, I know that AT LEAST FOUR people read this regularly & who were probably counting on me to post so shout out to Tla Tla Nev & Tla. & me. I also read this blog. So that means FIVE people read this blog regularly. Well, I guess that technically counts as “at least for.” Yeah so Im right about that.

& Ive also been gone because for the past few months, Ive been BASKING in GORY. & let me tell you its wonderful. I have been saying for LITERALLY CENTURIES (give or take whatever) that we need NEW KITS because our old ones are CURSED. We did SO WELL in the last Cup of Harmony in our BEAUTIFUL RED & GOLD KITS. But AS SOON AS WE WEAR WHITE we lose. THE ONLY MATCH WHERE WE WORE WHITE WE LOST. EVERY OTHER MATCH WE WORE RED & EVRY OTHER MATCH WE WON.

Just look at where we were before. In our first set of white kits, we lost FIVE TIMES drew THREE TIMES & won just TWO TIMES - & those two were to Omerica, which we all know don’t count, so it was really FIVE LOSSES THREE DRAWS & ZERO WINS IN REAL MATCHES. NO WONDER QUSMO LOST IN THAT CUP OF HARMONY MATCH. THEY WERE CURSED> OTHERWiSE WE WOULD WIN EVERYHING

Clearly something must be done, as I have said for SO LONG. Well guess what? Fuzpon Qusma ordered new kits from EDIRF somewhere in some weird boring country somewhere that doesnt matter. Anyways JUST LOOK AT THE RESULTS. Qusmo has played in the NEW white kits FIVE TIMES so far - & they have THREE WINS ONE DRAW AND ONE LOSS.

So look out to everyone - including who Qusmo is about to play next. That Rev Lepins probablly thinking oh look at me Im so cool Im so fancy I plaed for the national team Im the manager ooh Im so great I dont evern need a striker I can just be really cool because Im so cool WELL GUESS WHAT REV? YOURE NOT THAT COOL. & YOURE GOING TO LOOE> Well actually I guess hes pretty cool but the main point is that hes not going to win. Because Qusmos going to win.

But we werent even supposed to face Rev Lepin or Mytynyjy in the FIRST PLACE beacuse we werent even put in their GROUP You all THINK you know the groups but YOU DONT REALLY because I know the TRUE groups

Why would the World Cup Committee want to change the groups? You ask? Well FIRST OF ALL theyre NOT the world cup committee theyre the WORLD OLD BOYS CLUP COMMITTEE HA THATS WHAT YOU CALL A TOP QUALITY PUN & SECOND OF ALL the WOBCC wanted to RIG QUALIFYING AGAINST QUSMO. THATS why Qusmo has NEVER qualifieid for a world cup before. But now Ive CAUGHT THEM so theyre about to be EXPOSED In fact lets do that whole Spony Luq Television preview thing.

In pot 10 we got GLAMOD GLEWDINAN. They DONT HAVE A RANKED so wed BEAT THEM EASY.

In Pot 9 we got ASHAHSHAHSHEE. I dont know anything about them except they have a funny name but they seem BAD & even if theyARENT wed srill BEAT THEM

In pot 8 we got SULSULAND. I LOVE SULSULAND> I IDENTIFY WITH THESE SULSUS SO MUCH. I LOVE THEM. I AM THEM. THEY HUNGER FOR FISH & I HUNGER FOR THE TRUTH>

I n pot 7 we got VELESTREA. For some reason the WOBCC decided to put them in our FAKE GROUP too so obviously they must be GOOD because they were how the WOBCC tried to MAKE US LOSE but they WONT DO THAT bcause were BETER THAN THAT & were going to WIN i mean after all Velesrtra is so scared of Qusmo that it even changed its entire NAME

In pot 6 we got Quakmybush & Ill tell you WHAT thse evil people who run their world supergovernment organization place can go quak MY bush for all I care because Im going to spread the TRUTH no matter WHAT & Qusmo is going to WIN

In pot 5 we got SQUOONSHALOON ROOMNOONT STOOTS & we beat them BEFORE & we beat them BEFORE THAT & wed beat them AGAIN because were WINNERS

In pot 4 we got MAJJIJAJA & theyre ALSO someone the WOBCC decided to put in our FAKE GROUP & thats because they apparently WON a REALLY BIG TROPHY though if its in esportiva how big can it really be anyways MATTITATA is rally good & thats why they put them in there

In pot 3 we got QUSMO because QUSMOS the BEST & were going to WIN. Believe it o not, Qusmos the THIRD team from the real group that we ALSO got in our FAKE GROUP

In pot 2 we got BARKER PARK so apparently some type of DOG PARK but were going to beat them because we dont have the soul of a DOG because we have the heart of a JEJZ THATS RIGHT WERE JEJZY

& in pot 1 we got STARBLADA & apparently theyre not too bad but the WCOOBA decided that we shouldnt have THEM in our group because they helped with the EDIRF kits to BREAK OUR CURSE so the WFJCCC decided that STARBALD wouldnt get to experience the magnificence of playing on the same itch as us As PUNISHMENT for helping us break the DREADED WHITE CURSE

So THAT S It. WE COULD HAVE GONE TO THE WORLD CUP & WE COULDVE WON IT TOO. But you just wait well show the WORLD SNOBS COMMITTEE what were made off & were going to win despite the fact that its the HARDEST GROUP OF ALL TIME. Some Mittijitti place thought that it wasnt too tough but THATS JUST WHAT THEY WANT YOU TO THINK its actually the worst because WCCCCCCCCC RIGGED IT

Now you know the TRUTH so SPREAD IT

Youre welcome.

RECAP: STATE OF THE PARTIES AS THE LIBERALS ARE RE-ELECTED WITH HISTORIC MAJORITY
Amy Yarley to continue as Prime Minister in first truly post-war election
The Emplor's Chief Political Correspondent Nathan Ramsdale reports from Parliament Avenue, Bastion

When Eura last went to the polls five years ago, it did so with the Great Endemian War still underway and the frontline frozen by stalemate at ground level. The country was not out of the woods but it was no longer in mortal peril either; members of cabinet were even able to attend the first matchday of Season 34 of Euraleague with little security. The Liberal Party, led by the hawkish and indomitable Amy Yarley, reversed the loss of their majority previously to win 1,810 of 3,000 seats available. They benefited from widespread support for their successful policy of entering the Common Rushmori Community and a desire from the public to see the war finished. The Social and Capital parties both failed miserably in a perfect storm of internal infighting, misreading of the public mood and a ruthless Liberal campaign. It was the third Liberal election victory in a row - the first under Yarley - and unprecedented in a political system where the Social and Capital parties have been dominant for most of Eura's democratic history. However the election was marred by the war and turnout was historically low at a paltry 62%. Normal business has resumed in that regard but it has not come at the expense of the governing party.

Last year the post-war state of the country, and the reduction of the population (mostly from emigration) of the past decade by the order of a couple of hundred million, has led to an overdue redrawing of the political map. A comprehensive boundary review opted to maintain the size of Parliament at 3,000 seats for consistency, with lines redrawn to give most constituencies a roughly even number of voters and citizens rather than rigidly sticking to the one seat per million people rule. This has benefited the Liberals by undermining many Social and Capital safe seats. Turnout has also jumped back up to pre-war levels. Now the situation that would be considered surreal were it not for the impact of the war has been extended further, as Yarley cements her place in Euran political history. Her party has won another victory, marginally increasing their majority, crushing the fringe parties to a degree that would have seemed impossible twenty years ago, and giving herself five peacetime years to complete their legacy with virtually no serious opposition. It is the largest victory and best performance by the Liberal Party in its history, both in terms of seats won (beating the previous record by fifty seats) and share of the vote (0.2% ahead of the last election). Yarley is the first woman to be re-elected to the office of Prime Minister and the first Liberal leader to ever increase their majority in a general election. We've considered how each party fared:

GUIDE
Party - seats won (net gain/loss from previous GE) - percentage of the popular vote
Turnout was 76.34%, up from 62.20% at the previous GE. Options listed account for 97% of ballots cast.

LIBERAL - 1931 (+121) - 41.6%

A lot has already been said about how strange a political situation we are in that this is the fourth consecutive Liberal Party victory, but there can be no doubt that it was an overwhelming one. Amy Yarley is the most secure Prime Minister since the Social Party's dominant centre left administration of James Lafferton which coincided with the economic boom and international clout that saw Eura become a global power. There are several reasons for this within her control; the still youthful nature of her party and its immense campaigning strength, its optimistic vision for the future rebuilding of Euran society and taking a leading role in the Common Rushmori Community, and her own decisive leadership and personal approval ratings. However it can not be stated enough that she has been the sole benefactor of the war politically - the only political leader to be able to say she was the one who won it, conveniently forgetting of course that she was the Foreign Secretary who failed to see the surprise attack coming at the time. Simultaneously she has taken advantage of a calamitous decade for the Social and Capital parties and the splitting of their core vote. She now has a large majority to work with over the next five years.

SOCIAL - 571 (-127) - 22.4%
CAPITAL - 390 (+23) - 17.3%

For the traditional "big two" of Euran politics this election has driven home the reality of the post-war situation. Many within the Social Party in particular had hoped that the Liberal's had run out of luck, winning previously only due to the disastrous Capital leadership of the Capital-Liberal coalition and then the onset of war. These hopes were in vain. The Social Party has suffered the most. This is its worst electoral defeat and share of seats in half a century. The leftwing leadership of the party under Roger Grayson that failed to give way after the disaster of the previous election is now wobbling but what will happen next is anyone's guess. With the party's right and centre flank having flocked to the Liberal's, the party now faces an internal battle between its soft left core vote, hard left leadership, centre left membership and a mix and match of MPs who were lucky enough to survive the onslaught of the past two elections.

The Capital Party are on paper in a worse state but given that they have barely won 10% of parliament's seats in the past three elections, their first net increase in seats for years is welcome news no matter how small. The swing to the right under Catherine Lathersby and her subsequent scandals had brought the party into severe disrepute - at one point they were polling at 9% of the vote. Now they have a base to fight back from, and with most of the countries left of centre vote going to the Liberals, they will seek to become the official opposition before long. Nevertheless it feels like a long time ago that the Capital Party were running the country with the Liberals as their junior partners.

CIVIL FEDERALIST - 37 (-3) - 4.8%
COMMUNIST - 1 (-2) - 0.9%

Its been a dark few years for the traditional parties of the Euran further left. The Civil Federalists were hurt badly by the gradual movement left of the Social Party under the Capital-Liberal coalition and this decline accelerated with each Liberal victory and the onset of war. Their decline has slowed now as they hit their base, and brighter times may be ahead if a more moderate leadership takes over the helm of the Socials. For now at least their influence is limited. The Communist Party won 39 seats three elections ago but they are virtually a non entity now and were fortunate to avoid proscription after their financial support for leftist Sameban rebels during the war. Carla Waingrew is their only remaining MP, clinging on by a majority in the three figures in her ironically ultra-marginal seat of Jarborough.

MERITOCRATIC IMPLEMENTATION PARTY - 0 (-2) - 0.5%
INDEPENDENTS/OTHER - 9 (-7) - 1.5%

These former darlings of Euran moderates are in dire straits. MIP have faltered over the years after a very brief moment in the sun as an alternative to the Liberals during their wilderness years and have now lost their remaining seats. Independent candidates have struggled again though a small cadre remain.

EURAN INDEPENDENCE PARTY - 20 (-15) - 2.3%
EURAN NATIONAL PARTY - 25 (-4) - 3.1%
UNIONIST PARTY - 16 (+16) - 2.6%

The Euran Independence Party were the official protest vote of the last election. They only won 35 seats but their 7.5% vote share presented a daunting threat to mainstream parties. But it seems their political rise came too late to prevent CRC membership and now many in the party are beginning to wonder why they bother turning up. The Euran National Party has largely held its ground by comparison. Although its name implies a far right affiliation, the party campaigned on a slightly moderated platform this election having attained their main goal of seizing areas of Euran majority population in Electrum. Their remaining MPs mostly represent these areas. Most interestingly on the firmly right side of Euran politics we have witnessed the appearance of the Unionst Party who are similar in ideology and issue prioritisation to the ENP and who also hold their seats entirely in the southern borderlands. Unlike the other two hard to far right parties they are pan-Rushmori which is an unusual combination to say the least, but it may have played well for them in an election that has demonstrated that Eura is now comfortable in its blooming membership of the pan-Rushmori political project.

The landscape stretched as far as the eye could see. As landscapes tend to do. Jagged dark rocks tore out of the bleak reddish ground, like blackened bones protruding from a cracked limb. Snaking through this appropriately hellish scenery long lines of sullen, miserable figures snaked off into the distance. People moved in single file, shackled together. Their numbers beyond count. The long lines wound towards a single central point.

Vast obsidian battlements rose from the ground, towering over the moaning masses like titans. Five huge black gates opened like gaping maws, into which the lines disappeared. From within came the horrific sound of a million souls locked in torment. Cries of anguish, gasps of fear and screams of pain. An infernal and endless cacophony. At the centre of it all stood a black tower, its height impossible to confine within the laws of science and logic. At the very top, miles or possibly days above, sat a chamber, its dimensions as intimidating as the structure it lay within. The floor was a sea of polished skulls. So too was the vast throne in the centre of the chamber, atop which sat the lord of this particular kingdom.

Burnished broze armour encased a muscled torso of darkened red, powerful legs ended in large, cloven hoofs. Red arms lay lazily along the throne, ending in huge hands out of which curled sharpened talons. One talon tapped impatiently against the bone of the ornate seat. Across from the figure black double doors slowly opened inwards.

A hunched figure dressed in black robes shuffled into the chamber. He prostrated himself before the throne, greyish skin spread across a frame of bone. More akin to a cadaver than a living being.

‘You rang my infernal lord?’

Some time ago Charon’, the sound rumbled out of mouth lined with wickedly pointed teeth. ‘I’d tear out your throat but your servitude to me isn’t destined to be ended so easily.’

‘I am eternally indebted to you my dark prince. How my I be of service?’

I’m bored Charon. I tire of those mewling maggots below. Their cries no longer fill me with the vigour they once did. I crave something . . . else.’

‘I shall have the soul furnace prepared for . . .’

His words died away as his lord rose from his throne and in three long strides, bone crunching under heavy hooves, crossed the distance between them. A huge hand grasped Charon around the neck, lifting him bodily off the floor. Suddenly he stared into two fiery pits that narrowed angrily before him.

You pathetic worm. Prepare the soul furnace. That’s your answer to everything.’ He dropped the squirming Charon heavily to the floor. ‘You don’t understand. The torments I inflict upon those below are but gruel to the nourishment provided by the pain and suffering mortals inflict unwittingly upon themselves.’

Charon had crawled towards a lectern on the edge of the chamber, he now used it to prop himself up. Stifling a grimace, he opened the large book that lay atop it, leafing through pages that cracked under the touch.

‘Here my most malevolent liege. In Llagtapata, a cult intends to cast themselves into an active volcano. I imagine it will be . . . excruciating. And entirely self-inflicted.’

Knowingly self-inflicted. It’s clearly not the same. Try harder worm or I’ll have you flayed.’

‘That seems fair.’ He turned another page. ‘How about this, a four hour bagpipe concert in Graupius? I mean, that’s got to be unbearable.’

Better.’ A curved talon scratched thoughtfully against his chin. ‘But it’s not enough. I want millions of supplicants to willingly put themselves into a position in which they then witness their hopes and dreams rot away and die before their eyes. I want them to be full of joy and expectation right before they know utter misery. I want them to suffer like they have never suffered before.’

‘Sargossa are playing a World Cup qualifier.’

Perfect.’

World Cup 82 Quals

BAD FORM CONTINUES
Baranil 2-1 New Lusitania
Baranil FA Stadion

After a disappointing draw, the team travelled to Baranil. António Lopes started in goal, Figueiredo, Carriça and Cancela in defence, with Nevais further up front. Mário, Fernando, Luz and Gama make up midfield, with Jota and Henrique Costa up front today after Silveira's indisposability. Baranil managed to get a goal in before halftime after a terrible clearance. Halftime and it was looking bad for the Selecção. In the second half, New Lusitania dominated, scoring a goal early on. Luz took the assist for Jota to score the equaliser giving them hope to turn it around. Eustáquio managed to get a appearence in a sanctioned competition, and played fairly well. At the very end though a well executed corner by the home side gave them a win, putting New Lusitania near the bottom of the table, and topping the group simultaneously, being the only team yet to lose a point in the group.
FULL TIME: 2-1

Around the Grounds
In Group 8, South Covello lost their first game, against Juvencus 0-1, as the Alpine Union triumphed over Saint Émelie. Osarius had to work hard for the win against Bjornoya (3-4) , as Kernovi beat Zuiopien 2-0.
New Lusitania Isn't the only one starting off badly. Baker Park find themselves at the bottom of their group after a defeat against Nephara. Vilita lost their first game against Abahnfleft as Valladares had a thrilling match against Competitive Solitaire, which ended 4-4.
The Equestrian States top their group whilst Mercedini were toppled 4-5 at home against Kandorith. Elsewhere, the Free Republics keep steamrolling across their group, this time against Geektopia (7-4), meaning they'll be looking to secure the prize for best attack. LOM got their first point after tieing against Brusseldorf 3-3.

POST-MATCH INTERVIEWS and REACTIONS
I: Comment on tonight's performance, Victor?
VSC: I think we were stunned by Baranil, and so they got the best of us in that second half. We'll need to up our game if we want to get further. However, credit to them, they played really well.
I: Do you see any problem in defence, or in missing one or two key players?
VSC: It is true that New Lusitania has conceded as many goals in two games as they did in about three or four last time out, but I have complete confidence in them. We'll be trying to better it and give the opponent less space. As for key players, each team does have them and any team must have a contingency plan, an we're working in creating detailed plans which are oriented towards those situation in more efficient ways.
I: Thanks Victor.

OOC: Consider this a parallel to Starblaydia's mini-epic, providing a little #88BBFF colour to proceedings.

Trans-Beck tourism is a curious thing. Your average Krytenian doesn't admit it, and nor does your average Starblaydi, but both sets of people enjoy a little jaunt to the opposite side of northern Calania. For certain companies, such as Avidair, this almost-secret fact of life has become their stock in trade; certainly, the Avidia-Jhanna route has been one of Avidair's most popular.

Or, at least, it had.

Not only is the tourist exchange a curious thing, it's a good indicator of Krytenia-Starblaydia relations. Back in the Starblaydi interregnum, when Dominique Domasca had led the anti-Starblaydi regional faction, it had dropped to almost nil even before the government imposed sanctions and embargoes on what passed for leadership in Jhanna. Before that, the era of Tiberius and Hessenthaler's SAAS bromance had seen record numbers spending their hard-earned cash on their neighbours' shores.

This, though, was different. Usually these upticks and downward spirals mirrored the political situation between the two nations. At the moment, though, Krytenia and Starblaydia were...well, they were just kind of there to each other. Certainly, neither Lady-Protector Korra Starblayde nor Queen Violetta Octavius had made particular overtures to each other; conversely, they weren't at each other's throats either. There were no changes in trade agreements or tarriffs, nor were there any paticular harsh words spoken in an official capacity. Jai Kardaeri and Steb Guilhermez didn't have the social media influence to alter perceptions to any degree.

Still, the boardroom of Avidair's HQ was filled with murmurs of bemusement and discontent. Some of it might have had to do with Krytenia's third consecutive draw the night prior, but mostly it was due to the dramatic plummet of numbers in the AVD-JHA route. Sure, there'd been a bit more of a barb to the jokes and banter traded on both sides of the inland sea that divided them, but that wouldn't cause so many Easterners to turn their back on the sights of Krytenia.

Would it?

This Week on the Internet

Carter Redwin Goes on Angry Twii Storm

Presidential candidate Carter Redwin went on an angry Twii storm on the social media website Twii.tur a few days ago, sending a series of 17 highly controversial tweets over six hours in the middle of the night that left many describing him as "mentally unhinged", "dangerous", and "a menace to society." We have reproduced the tweets below in the order they were sent. All incorrect grammar, spelling, etc. is from the original, which some sources described as further evidence of Redwin's madness. He also made cryptic references to several accusations that were never made, claiming they were false. For instance, he denied porn star Busty Daniels' accusations that he sexually assaulted her, despite the fact that she never accused him of any such thing. The twiis also contained death threats against opposing candidate David Hale and his supporters as well as many minorities.

11:03 PM: Little Wittle Baby Davey needs his bottle mommy, he thinks he can stop me, he will go home crying waaaah waaaah waaaah al the way Home. Boo hoo Hoo.!

11:39 PM: MAKE SOUTH COVELLO GREAT AGAIN! LIKE MY HAIR!

3:02 AM: Hey Sister Polus, how about another video? You're a great woman, love watching you speak. #MakeTheWorldChristianAgain

3:34 AM: If you support Hale, you'll be dead when I'm elected. Simple as that! I did not make terroristic threats, if you're the President it's legal. And I will be.

3:59 AM: Baby Boy Davey's supporters are terrorists! That is why I had them killed. Or at least I will. I promise it, and I'm no LIAR, that's the Baby who Lies!

4:31 AM: MAKE SOUTH COVELLO GREAT AGAIN! KILL DAVID HALE!

5:02 AM: Breakfast time! Shall I drink coffeefeefee or Baby Boy Davey's blood? I'll have the coffeeeeee for now I guess.

The South Covello Bureau of Investigations stated that it is not their practice to investigate active Presidential candidates, and that that would fall to the South Covello Elections Committee. However, the SCEC noted that Redwin did not violate any election law, whatever other laws he may have violated, and therefore claimed it was outside their purview. With each agency attempting to pass this onto the other, it appears Redwin will get away with this, at least until he loses the election.

Baby Goat Video Goes Viral

Now for some happier news. A popular internet video of a baby goat named Chomp-Chomp has gone viral, gathering over 100 million views across the Multiverse in the past week. The video shows Chomp-Chomp traveling across South Covello, happily eating grass in front of many famous locations, while traveling between them on his Goatmobile. The locations include Revolution Stadium, the lawn of the Presidential Mansion, the Memorial to Victims of Tyranny, the Glenville Goat Farm, the Potato World amusement park, and about a dozen others.

Chomp-Chomp currently lives at the Paw Paw Petting Zoo in the small town of Paw Paw in the northern part of the country, and many visitors flocked there in the hopes of petting Chomp-Chomp;. The zoo has seen record attendance, with the number of guests per day increasing over a hundredfold since the video was released.

KODS-4-KIDS Named Worst Advertisement Ever in Internet Poll

An internet poll on AdzJinglez.net recently named the KODS-4-KIDS advertisement the Worst Advertisement Ever. KODS 4 KIDS is a charity where fishermen can donate their excess catch to feed starving children. However, their advertising jingle, which features random people singing "1-877-KODS-4-KIDS K-O-D-S KODS FOR KIDS 1-877-KODS-4-KIDS DONATE YOUR FISH TODAY" in a God awfuk voice to a God awful tune, has drawn ire from just about everyone. It is so much despised that presidential candidate Carter Redwin recently said that he would support the use of the song to torture infidels who won't admit they are secretly gay in order to force them to admit it. It is unclear whether o not he was joking, but President David Hale also noted (again, perhaps jokingly) that the jingle constituted a "crime against humanity." And now, it is officially the Worst Adveritisement Ever.

Ties, Ties, Ties!

Postby Geektopia » Tue Mar 12, 2019 4:50 pm

Geektopia is proud- uh indifferent to the current title of having the most ties in their group as far. Outside spectators have coined it as a curse, but there's no curse for having your best player hold the team for defensive and offensive plays! It's just a burden to hold. But why don't we, the press, of Geektopia, stop complaining and move to the brighter side of this spectacle and look at the man who made it possible for the Geektopians to save their game 2 times! It's almost like he's not a Geektopian! Almost. Russ de Andes says "It's a staple of my early career and what I will be known for a very long time to come". He also had mixed feelings on it, saying he wish more of his players would come to help him instead of "picking flowers on the field like imbeciles". It's a soccer moment for the promising youngster, and probably more to come from this group!

From a big city, to one of the smaller cities

City: Northbury
Stadium (Soccer, Gridiron, Baseball): Northbury Stadium
Arena (Basketball, Hockey, Concerts, etc): Arena at Northbury
Seating Capacity- Stadium: 66,877
Seating Capacity- Arena: 16,116
International Competitions: Not a heavily used city for such competitions, but it will get a steady chance. It is a growing city, so there is the potential that it could have greater hosting opportunities down the road. The stadium is a little older, and used to be a cozy 40,000 seater. However, it was recently renovated, and in time to be a host field for Copa Rushmori XXX, to its present level. The city impressed, and it is possible that the Queen could start to give Northbury the nod over nearby Winchester.

Sponsorship Packages Available:
– Full Scale Stadium Naming Rights (For Stadium)
– Full Scale Stadium Naming Rights (For Arena)
– Secondary Sponsorship Opportunity (Can include soccer sideline advertisements, outfield wall for baseball, boards in hockey, etc).

City Demographics (Know the market!)
Population- 213,889
Average Age- 54
Wealth*- Average
Crime*- Average
Men’s Rights*- Below Average (Due to the older demographic, some of the natives are less accepting of the Queen’s efforts to bring more equality).
Education Level*- Average to Above Average

Cultural Trademark- Northbury is a peaceful and tranquil city in central Cassadaigua. Winchester is the closest main city, and it’s not too far to Grande Mountain, although the locals like to distance themselves as far they can from local. Both Winchester and Northbury have one major thing in common, and that is its older demographic. Winchester is more to the extreme, but Northbury, too, became a place where older people went to get away from the big city. In the process of doing that, though, they created their own big cities. While Winchester is a little more hostile towards tourists (but accepting because they like that you bring money), Northbury is a more accommodating place.

Locals would probably be less interested in a sponsor for the stadium that was considered technological, or along those lines. Something very traditional should get them more interested.

Universities within:
University of Northbury (the older folks do have kids, after all. Traditional school with a varied curriculum. Respected in Cassadaigua, but not considered an elite school).

Northbury Christian Academy (a newer private institution that has seen enrollment steadily increase in recent years).

*- In Comparison to other Cassadagan cities

Now that was huge,
by Chelsea Dufresne, Concord Heights Times

Stadii Di Bradini was sold out, and that takes a lot of people, for this showdown between Starblaydia and Cassadaigua. On rank, it was the most important game for the home side, and it provided a chance for their fans to see a nation close up that they have not really had much of a chance too. Cassadagans also helped the cause, as many of our own fans, who may have wanted to pay Starblaydia a visit during World Cup 80, though had to go to Vilita instead, now finally had their chance.

Ázëwyn Fëanáro, in her fourth season as manager for Starblaydia, has a challenge with a youthful roster this year, but we all know that the nation would have one of the best youth programs in the world, as after all, the youth tournament itself is named for Simeone Di Bradini, a Starblaydi legend. They’ve given the #10 jersey to Sutter McCloud, a 19-year old prospect. Yeah, no pressure there, son. Many of worn that #10 and have gone on to greatness, whereas when a Cassadagan has gone on to similar greatness, no one ever wears that number again. Nothing is wrong with either strategy, but Mr. McCloud certainly has a lot to live up too. He’s already being called the “next golden boy of Starblaydi football”. I guess that’s why he signed with a team in Vilita. Get away from that undue pressure now and develop elsewhere. Can’t blame the guy, really.

The first 10 minutes of the match or so were a feeling out period of sorts as neither side was overly aggressive, but with the home crowd wanting to see their team pick up the first goal, Starblaydia got better chances, and in the 14th minute, McCloud rung a shot off the post. Tough luck, kid. Five minutes later, the Starblaydia fans had something to groan about again when Sierra Mattison hooked up with Caitlyn Mayer along the left side of the pitch, and Mayer picked up the game’s opening goal. This would lead to Cassadaigua controlling play, impressively while on the road for most of the first half, and Hannah Ranucci scored her 3rd of qualifying, coming in the 32nd minute, to make it 2-0, Fillies. Starblaydia got one back in the 41st, off the foot of their captain, Viola Capodanno, who was opportunistic to be in the right place at the right time to have a rebound of a shot from Aaron Cole bounce right to her, and she made no mistake.

As the second half went by, the young McCloud was introduced to the physical play of Lupe Enriquez, who brought him down hard with a rough tackle. He was ok, but everyone wearing purple was expecting at least a yellow there in the 55th minute. The referee, however, did not make such a call, and many suspect that he did not fully see the play. Six minutes later, when Cassadaigua scored to make it 3-1, the crowd was further bothered to see that it was indeed Enriquez, sneaking into the offense, who scored the goal. Kora Sato scored to make 3-2 in the 73rd minute, and she became the best player on the pitch in the final minutes. In the 80th, she presented McCloud with a golden opportunity to get the equalizer, but was robbed by Kristen Speller.

Cassadaigua really played a perfect away game here tonight, but there can be no let up. They do return home, but Filindostan is next.

Banijans claim they are 'up for the challenge' as big game against Brenecia arrives

Image
Manager Marcus Waters(left) and Gitonga Kahara enjoy a laugh during the pre-game Press Conference before Banija's match against Brenecia

BRENECIA- The Banijans, after struggling in their pre World Cup Qualifying friendlies, have gotten it together right here at the start of World Cup Qualifying. People were worried heading into the campaign, when their final warmup was a 4-0 thrashing, at home, to a talented Qasden side with an interim manager. That performance was... Not a good one, to say the least, and didn't exactly inspire confidence in the Kadongo Kamu. However, the national team seems to have turned it around. A big time win in the crucial opener created some separation between the Banijans and one of their major rivals, Eshan. A solid 2-0 away win against an overmatched Grod Islands squad led to a 4-1 home victory on our last matchday against a fun, but overwhelmed, New and Improved Peru. The New and Improved Peruvians were down 2-0 after 17 minutes, and then down 3-0 at halftime. Yitebarke added a fourth in the 54th minute, though Raul Santiago pulled one back for New and Improved Peru in the 82nd minute.

After three games, the Banijans have done a great task- pulled the maximum 9 points from 9 games. That, of course, is hard to do, especially since the opener was a Pot 2 v. Pot 3 matchup- two teams who will be competing fiercely with each other for what is likely the second World Cup spot, if you assume that the World Cup 80 champions are going to finish no worst than second in this group. Even though they struggled in the friendlies, they seem to have flipped a switch, and feeling a grove. Even Marcus Waters commented on it. "You can never read too much into the scoreline of a friendly- what matters is what happened during a match." He told reporters after the game against New and Improved Peru. "This is going to be a long qualifying campaign, and with it, we are certainly going to encounter our share of challenges. Many say we were fortunate to hold onto our lead against Eshan- but with fortitude, we were able to withstand the Echani offensive onslaught. And our last two games were thorough performances. But with all due respect... Those were games that we were supposed to win. And we have."

He was absolutely right in that assessment. While fine sides, for a team that is ranked 21st and trying to climb the rankings, there is nothing to write home about when you beat the Grod Islands, and an unranked New and Improved Peru side. The win against Eshan was great, of course, but these other two? They didn't really tell us much about the squad, besides the fact that they could beat teams that were worse than them, on paper. Which, admittedly, isn't always the easiest thing to do, especially away from home, but the long-term goals of Marcus Waters, and his bosses at the RBSA, aren't to win road games in the Grod Islands.

And that's where our Matchday 4 opponents come in- none other than Brenecia. Now this game? This opponent? This is a true measuring stick for Banija. Just read the words of Chibuzo Afolayan, the Banijan captain, at the pre-game press conference in Brenecia. "We are a country that is making the long climb up the KPB rankings- like every nation, we want to be seen among the big nations in this sport. Nations like Brenecia, have earned that designation. Of course, they were World Cup champions not too long ago. But they've been playing at a high level for years- churning out talented players, making deep tournament runs, making their country proud. And we, want to be up there as well. And the only way to climb that ladder, the only way to gain that respect, is to play teams like this, play games like this, and go out and perform, without fear."

Assefa Yitebarke, the team's #9, spoke along those same lines. "If you wanna be the best, you gotta go up against the best. This is a real big one- the true measuring stick. NOw, of course, there's a gap between us and the very top tier- we aren't part of the Brenecias, the Nepharas, the Vilitas of the world, not yet. But how big is that gap? How much space is there between a nation like Brenecia and Banija? I'm excited for the challenge, I'm ready to find out." The same sort of sentiment, the sort of confidence, was shown by many others on the team. Of course, the top two in each group qualify directly, and while these two are the favorites to finish in those two places, getting behind the pace could allow the rest of the pack to catch up, and the Banijans want to have it wrapped up before what will surely be a tricky visit on the final matchday to their next door neighbors, Geisenfred.

And then, the preview, of course. Who can win? Who will win? Can the Banijans pull off what would surely not only be a stunning upset, especially away from home, but pull off a win that would surely put them in the early driver's seat to get to Valanora and Apox? Or will the Brenecians, as the favorites, flex their muscles and restore order, putting themselves at the top of the table? We'll dive into a match preview.

Banijan Attack vs. Brenecian Defense

This will be quite an interesting matchup. Brenecia is calling upon a back four that literally won the World Cup together- Szubanski, Heneghan, Broxham, and Quill, all playing in front of Calhoun, the goalkeeper from Raynor City United. This team boasts an excellent back line. You know there is talent, as in 37 career international appearances entering qualifying, Calhoun has an absurd 24 clean sheets- meaning 65% of Calhoun's international appearances end with a fat donut for the other team on the scoreboard. That is a strong goalkeeping record if I ever saw one, and it gets better from there.

Szubanski, Heneghan, Broxham, and Quill won the World Cup together, and even though it's 33 year old's Szubanski's last tour of duty for the national team, there is talent all across the back line. It will be the challenge of the Banijan front three to try to find space, and take shots. They are going to have to take good, quality shots, probably from distance- the chances of getting a clean look on goal, close by the net, against this defense on their home turf, is probably next to nothing. It is going to take a great effort to beat this defense, and this goalkeeper- but the ability is there. With Chibuzo Afolayan on one side, and Kahara on the other, they have a pair of players perfectly capable of getting off quality shots, in challenging positions against stifling defenses, that can at least challenge the goalkeeper. That will be the job of the front 3- make the goalkeeper work, at the very least. If they cannot do that, they will be in for a long day in that hostile environment.

Banijan Midfield vs. Brenecian Midfield

The advantage here has to go to the Brenecians. The Brenecians played a 4-1-4-1 formation, and while the central of their midfield is not as strong as it has been, it is still a very deep and talented midfield. Corby Wheeler is the best player out of the team's five midfielders, and is in the middle of the pitch a lot. At age 25, she has scored 16 career goals already leading into World Cup Qualifying, and is helping anchor a strong midfield. It is the wings, however, where they will offer the biggest threat- Brae Crowther, and Cathal Keynes. They will fly up and down the pitch, and will prove a challenge for Obey Chidiebere and Ensa Camara- can the outside backs contain the lethal wingers the Brenecia will have flying up and down the pitch?

Okonkwo Okparro has got to be the X Factor here. He is certainly a talented player, and plys his trade in the V-League. He is often overshadowed by the bigger names and personalities- Gitonga Kahara, Assefa Yitebarke, and the captain, Afolayan, all true superstars. Even Ablie Kah and Amadi Uche, for being a new, young pairing in the central midfield, get all sorts of attention. But Okparro? He wears the #10 jersey. His job is to facilitate. If he plays well, if he can be creative and find ways to help gets his teammates decent looks on goal, then the Banijans have a chance. But if he struggles, if he is completely bottled up by Catsidhe Alweather, then the Banijan attack will grind completely to a halt.

Banijan Defense vs. Brenecian Attack

Brenecia runs so many midfielders, and with Crowther and Keynes constantly flying up the pitch, they seem like part of the attack, but there is only one true listed attacker- and her name is Griffin Riordan. She has 30 career goals to her name so far at age 28, meaning that she's looking to try and score plenty more. Can the defense contain her? The responsibilities will fall to Jalang Ba and Kawsu Kaba, the center back pairing for the Banijans. This center back pairing is strong- but so is this striker. And, of course, they will be able to simply track Riordan the whole time.

The player to watch for the Banijans in the back, however, will be Bereket. After coming off an entire World Cup cycle where Marcus Waters refused to hand out the number one jersey, simply alternating the starting position between Lemuel Bereket and Jumu Sanneh, after this past club season, it was Lemuel Bereket who was able to do enough to earn the full-time starting goalkeeper position- and, of course, the coveted number one jersey. He had a shaky few friendlies coming towards qualifying, but has played well so far when the games started counting, playing well in all three of Banija's opening games. Brenecia is fith in the world, and are at home. We absolutely cannot afford any goalkeeping mistakes.

Prediction?
And here, we have the chance to predict. This will be a measuring stick for the Banijans, make no doubt about it, and everyone knows that. Will they be able to pull it off? At this magazine, unfortunately, we'd have to say no. This is a tough away game for anybody, and in an environment like this? Against a top five team? This is an almost impossible task to get three points. Can they get one? While it is certainly possible, we'd deem it unlikely. We imagine that the Banijans will show class and bravery, and launch a few decent efforts on target. However, we do expect that Brenecia will be able to seperate themselves, and pull off a 2-1 win over the Kadongo Kamu to help make clear their path to Valanora & Apox.

A returning Geektopian legend, Tethra Tope has announced his return with the soccer institution, and his only reason for doing so was to play at one last tournament. In his interview, he never said as to why, but signs are pointing to a buy-over to the GKTA soccer league. We could be seeing results from tomorrow. He set back forth into the soccer industry an hour ago, a historic surprise indeed. His unretirement interview was recorded on TV, as estimably 93 million Geektopians set in to watch a groundbreaking moment in the homes and the streets of Geektopia. As of an 1 hour ago, his value in the sport has almost doubled to $10 million bitcoins. All signs are pointing at the certainly-possible buy that could save GKTA from embarrassment on the international stage. He has also disclosed his age to 41.

WC82Q - CvC struggles for Citizens

Pressure building on FAT as Citizens struggle to start Qualifiers

Eels Park, Eelandii, Turori :: Three matches into the World Cup 82 Qualifiers and already some fans of the Turori National Team have begun to replace the memories of Turori's best ever World Cup showing with more of a "What have you done for me lately?" approach.

Perhaps it is just a side effect of success - once the fanbase had tasted the World Cup Semi-Finals for the first time in their history they now thirsted for it and knew that four points from nine was not going to quench their thirst for the countries first ever World Cup title.

For the first time in recent World Cup History, the Football Association of Turori fully backed the Citizen squad at the start of their World Cup 82 Qualification campaign, leaving Turori's National Cocoabo Squad out to dry. No competition against the Citizens to see who would represent the Turori National Team. The Football Association of Turori had determined that by virtue of being the first Turorian side to ever reach the Semi-Finals of the World Cup that the Citizen Squad had earned the right to represent Turori uncontested during the 82nd World Cup Cycle with a chance to push the Turori National Team over the finish line and into the World Cup Finals.

Three matches in, however, doubts were already starting to arise. The euphoria for the Turorian fanbase may truly have ended about twenty minutes into their World Cup Semi-Final fixture against neighbors, rivals and eventual World Cup Champions: Vilita. When a close 2-1 match became a 3-1, and then three became four... and four became five, the feeling changed. The pride that the Tuorians had for making the final four of the multiverses most prestigious sporting competition had been not just erased, but pulverized. Beaten to a pulp. Throughout all the cycles - 66 cycles since their debut, the Turorians could always hang their hat on one fact: They had never lost to Vilita at the World Cup. Never. Until now. Turori had always been better on paper - more consistent performers. But the Vilitans had the glory. Now they stole the one thing the Tuorians had left - bragging rights.

While Turori's National Citizen Squad had proven they were a good team - perhaps the best team Turori had ever produced - the scoreline would show that they were not equals with their most visible of comparisons, their neighbors. While anyone who watched the match will have realized that Turori gave their all playing with house money, throwing caution into the wind and pressing for an equalizer when the flood gates finally opened in the other direction, Atla-Siioai knew that the annals of history wouldn't include such minor details as what the pace of play was or how much closer the match might have been than the scoreline. It was going to show one thing and one thing only. Turori lost 1-5. It didn't matter that it was just their third defeat of the entire cycle. It didn't matter that the other two were both 0-1 defensive duels. All that mattered was the lasting memory. Losing to Vilita and losing big on the scoresheet.

From there, the Turori National Team would lose again, in the Third Place Playoff to Banija. There was certainly talk of whether the crashing collapse at the end of the World Cup 81 Finals warranted a renewed competition between the Citizens and the Cocoabo during World Cup 82, but others would argue it would prove nothing. It was the Citizen Squad that had led Turori to the World Cup Semi-Finals, not the Cocoabo. Turori's National Cocoabo Squad already played had also recently suffered an identical 5-1 defeat at the hands of the now World Cup Champion and #1 Ranked team in the multiverse, the Vilita Jungle Cats; just as the Citizen Squad had done. So there was no real justification.

Image I bet the #Cocoabo Image Squad could have scored against @95X_sport!!! We stink!

After a narrow victory on the opening matchday of the World Cup 82 Qualifiers, the pressure was perhaps slightly off of Turori's National Citizen Squad and the Football Association of Turori's president Mumau Atla-Siioai. However, any pressure that had been lifted was re-applied ten-fold after a stunning matchday two defeat of the Eels by an unheralded Olastor side, then compounded after the Eels were held to a goalless draw on Matchday 3 against Atlantian Oceania rivals 95X. Three matches into World Cup 82 Qualifying and the Turori Eels - the 6th ranked nation in the multiverse and defending World Cup Semi-Finalist, found themselves fifth in their World Cup 82 Qualifying group having scored just one goal in three matches while Turori's National Citizen squad had won just one of their previous five matches - a dubious distinction that no single Turorian squad - Citizen or Cocoabo - had held on their own since the competition between the two distinct National teams first began.

Now, for the first time since the great World Cup 81 Quarter Final triumph over Ethane, the pressure is on Football Association of Turori president Mumau Atla-Siioai to make a change. The only question left would be how big of a change was Atla-Siioai going to make to right the ship before the Eels dug themselves into a hole so deep they could not climb out of it.

in the House of Assembly chamber, Belle Haven:

Mr Speaker: Questions for the Prime Minister. Brenda Traxler.

Mrs. Traxler (F--Sanborn & Cambria): Thank you Mr Speaker. I beg leave of the chair if I could ask my very distinguished colleague, the Prime Minister, if she has seen the announcement made a few days ago concerning the news in the Kingdom of Banija about the discovery of oil reserves in the northeastern part of that country?
12:11p
The Prime Minister Mrs. Schoenlein (F--Coolville North): Yes, we are fully aware of the news, and I have had the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in contact with the Isebantu. Obviously, we consider this an internal national issue for the Kingdom, although we would not pass up a chance to offer any assistance in an official sense or with a recommendation of our expertise in the field, should they seek it.

Mr Speaker: Mrs Traxler

Mrs Traxler: I understand that our commercial interests in Banija are narrow, but growing significantly, Mr Speaker. Would this be an area where the Commonwealth could expand its influence within the Kingdom specifically and the Glorious Southwest area of the region in general?
12:16p
Mrs Schoenlein: Mr Speaker, I'm sure my distinguished friend knows full well that we have an excellent relationship with the current government in Banija, we have relationships with other nations in the Southwest that are open and extremely beneficial, and that we have never sought to make our diplomatic policy contingent on commercial reciprocation. Just another moment, Mr Speaker...
12:17p
The Commonwealth is quite well known for the quality of our business and industry. Any nation that seeks to engage in a commercial relationship knows we don't need to beg for the opportunity to come into their markets.

etc., etc.

The Spenson Star
The Numbers Game

Twenty-three is a prime number. It's a date that's useful for scheduling games on to avoid gay jokes, if you're Cafundelense. It is also the standard number of players on the roster of an association football team.

Because of that, many association football sides have adopted the habit of distributing their uniform numbers from one through twenty-three. Many of these have even more specific associations of number to position and/or starting status. Upon reemerging into the international football scene in World Cup 64, Zwangzug did the same, and most of its clubs are similar. Even Suhail Gallop-Brother wears a #4 on his scarf, and he's a bleeping quadruped.

However, an announcement from the 1./ that the league has no restrictions on uniform numbers begged the question: who wants something more unconventional, and why? Could we be seeing double-digits next season, or even fractions? Irrational or negative numbers? Infinite cardinals? Mathematicians and football fans alike (especially those who are both at once!) are eagerly anticipating the resolution.

It has also brought about speculation on what this would mean for the national football team. Of course, when it emerged onto the international scene with barely a "starting XI" scraped together, anything went. Player chose numbers of personal significance, from single-digits to the sixties, with nary a consideration for how they fit together. The next few cycles continued the pattern.

But then World Cup 36 came around, a young team made a startling semifinals run, and suddenly, football was huge. Coach McGimpy was busy during the offseason, recruiting and deciding among lots of people who actually wanted to play, and a full slate of 23 arose. Gone was "Anne Onymous" as the token placeholder substitute; in came Peter Vanderpent, Brendan Deguela, and a generation of new talent.

But how to enumerate them? As part of that process, they were assigned the lowest unused numbers, one by one. Vanderpent got #3 since 1 and 2 were already spoken for; Preston Liebersbach, he of the unusual blend of dialects, took #20, and the others filled in between.

And so on and so forth. Dana Bloomquist got #24 the next cup, and reused it once she unretired from national team play after a successful stint in the CMSC. McGimpy, of course, was notorious for often referring to players by their number rather than their name on occasion, but who can blame him? In the end, of course, Saena Mathash would be the emblematic 43, a symbol of the future that never came to pass and the even-more-impossible hope that lay in wait. Mobin Singh was #45, bringing Andrew Card's bitter 46, for so long isolated, in line with his teammates at last.

Fast forward to the present(-ish) day, and none of that individuality has survived. In part, no doubt, it's a desperate attempt on the country's part to pretend they/we are all mature and know what we're doing now. In part, there's a practical aspect; if we'd continued with 47 and onwards for the newcomers, then between Eagles Cups and everything else we'd be in the 150s by now, which is kinda hard to fit on a jersey. And in part...well, who deserves to have theirs reused, and who doesn't? Cassadaigua are a notable example in the sporting world for retiring many of their players' numbers, and you can't say their stars haven't earned honor, but...would it be self-aggrandizing for today's players to try and put themselves up on the level of past legends?

I asked around the clubhouse, and most of the current national team says they're content with their current situation. Lucas Kukiseso, #6 (starting midfield) said that he would take #12 if it was on offer, as it's a symbol of completion and wholeness in his culture. "But after getting a weird accent like Kim [Higden]'s for a while last cycle I don't need anyone mistaking me for a backup goalie, especially Kendra [Jover]."

The national baseball team, like its professional sides, seemed to embrace numerical anarchy. Who's to say the footballers can't do the same?

THE GRODIAN EXPRESS

Grod Island has faced it's third successive defeat in the World Cup and now stand 9th in the group table. Eshan beat Grod Island 3-1 which is a new low for Grod Island. Earlier The Red Celts were beaten by Banija 1-2. Grod Island's progress in the tournament does not seem to improve.

Liam Fletcher, the team's 19 year old striker scored the team's only goal in both the matches. Emmanuelle London, the goalkeeper got injured in the match against Eshan and now will depend on youngster Antoine Smith fir most of the tournament. Captain Lopez made costly mistakes in the matches and his position as Captain is in danger for the next matches.

Here is a short interview with the team's manager Edward Rose by Julius Flickerman-

Julius: What do you have to say about the team's poor performance in the WC ?

Rose: The team is new to the WC. They are not completely acquainted by the tournament. They will improve soon. I have complete trust in my team.

Julius: Is Mateo Lopez going to be the captain for the next matches after the mistakes he has made ?

Rose: Lopez has recently lost his father and he is trying to cope up from the shock. He has asked me to give him rest for the entire tournament. So Paulinho will captain the team for the next matches.

Julius: We will all pray for Lopez and his family. Hopefully he will get back in action. Thank you for taking time to answer our questions Mr. Rose.
