About Audioslavia

Potted history
  • Audioslavia reached the finals of World Cups 12, 19, 20 and 29, losing all of them and gaining a reputation as a team that chokes.
  • After thirty cycles away, Audioslavia returned to win the Baptism of Fire before World Cup 59, won a regional championship in cycle 60 and then won back-to-back World Cups in cycles 63 and 64. That's the golden generation right there.
  • Things went back to normal after that. The side lost a few more major finals, including World Cups 67, 69 and 76.
  • Recent cycles have seen Audioslavia fall to the midfield in the rankings, failing to qualify for four out of the last six World Cups. At this point football fans have become accustomed to the side being on the fringes of international football. Nobody fears the Bulls anymore.
  • Audioslavia is one of two nations to have won five different major senior titles - BoF, CoH, WC plus two different regional championships. They recently became the only team in history to have recorded 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed finishes in each of the three WCC tournaments, plus regional competition.

Style of Play
  • Post Football is the name given to Audioslavia's style of play. It's based on the idea that, the less the game resembles football, the more ill at ease your opponents will be. Audioslavia play dirty, sideways and overly cautiously.
  • Kontrapuntzeka is another word for Audioslavia's style of play. Literally meaning counter-attacking, Audioslavia's national team are comfortable playing without the ball and charging forward in numbers when they do finally get it. Each player on this team has a deep understanding of how, when and where to attack on the counter. Losing the ball and allowing the Bulls to hit you on the break has been fatal to many a top ten team throughout history.
  • None of the above seems to work anymore. Speaking of top-ten teams, Audioslavia haven't been one for seven cycles now. Whatever it was Audioslavia did well, it seems the world has figured it out. Nobody in the country seems to know what to do about this.
  • Our footballers tend to be on the shorter, leaner side, with everyone outside of the goalie, centre forward and centre half topping out at about 5'10.
  • Audioslavian footballers are often tenacious, with the highest levels of stamina you'll see in world football. Audioslavian sides are often capable of playing at a high-tempo for long periods of time, and wins are often through attrition rather than skill.
  • Audioslavian teams are notorious for gamesmanship - the bending of the rules in order to gain an advantage. Players will taunt, feign injury, surround the referee, basically anything if it seems like it'd be beneficial. Audioslavians feel no shame in this. As far as they're concerned, their willingness to go further than the other team is a sign that they're more dedicated than their opponents might be. What might be considered dishonourable behaviour for you might be considered normal in Audioslavia.
  • Audioslavian teams fear losing. It's our greatest weakness and, given how this fear manifests itself in big games, a powerful irony
  • As well as lacking a bit of raw power, Audioslavian footballers often lack technique compared to their foreign counterparts. Nobody in the team is stationary and expecting a pass to feet. Passes are played into roughly the space the player will be sprinting into. When the side are countering, it's all speed-speed-speed.
  • Above all else though, what Audioslavian national teams often lack is heart. The worse things are going, the worse Audioslavians play. They're the classic bully. When things don't pan out as they expect, they retreat physically and mentally.

The Manager
The hot-seat is occupied by former Cazadores Cathair manager Salvador Monterroso. Monterroso was semi-famous a while ago as a star of hit documentary A Tale of Two Cathairs. As a Cathair native for whom Cazadores was his life, Monterroso was the beating heart of the squad twenty or thirty years ago, if not always in the actual first eleven. As a player, he'd eventually find himself at FC Capri, before eventually finishing his career at Caza once more, again as a bit-part player. Going into management with Union Cathair, it was an open secret that his resume would be the first on the owner's desk if a managerial position at El Ruedo ever came up, and so it proved. While a limited player, Monterroso took his beloved Caza to two league titles.

Now in his late fifties, Monterroso has been prized away from his boyhood club on a permanent basis.

Stadium
The Beltzarga in Glassbridge, Cathair, is a modern but monstrous stadium. As square as a brutalist rubix cube, but made of glass from the outside, it' would make a beautiful modern art museum but a slightly annoying stadium. For every brand new spangly thing it has, there are two bewildering design decisions that make such a thing redundant. Like, sure, the commentators all have a big touch-screen each in front of them, but good luck getting them to work in inclement weather, and the seats are so uncomfortable you'll have cut off your blood supply to your legs by half time.

Home, Away

Home shirt is traditionally worn with white shorts and socks, but if our opponents are wearing that colour then we switch to the same deep red as the shirts. This is what usually ends up happening. Dark green or black shorts have been worn on occasion.

Paradystopia World Cup Squad
"We're shit, and we're well aware of the fact"
Image
Paradystopi (new fancy) Kits.
A Note on the various Paradystopi races

The Humans
Humans are unsurprisingly humanoid. This should go without saying.
The Penguins
Penguins are again, unsurprisingly, penguins. They are, for the most part, wild animals though a small amount of training has been afforded them so as they can function in the role they have been given. That is, that they will try to get in the way of the ball and are strangely adept at this task. They are unpredictable nuisances as you are sure to find out.
The Xat’i
The Xat’i are sentient cats. They range from the size of a large wildcat to that of a smaller member of the big cats though their appearance is more akin to a domestic tabby cat. Like all felines, they have excellent reactions, are particularly agile, and can jump ridiculous lengths and heights. However, they are prone to be easily distracted and disengaged with activities that don’t benefit them in the here and now. That said, they are sentient, so you’ll have to try a little harder than having your assistant manager armed with a laser pen if you’re going to employ a little gamesmanship.
Xat’i mature faster than humanoids but also have shorter lifespans. They reach adulthood around the age of 3, considered at their prime between 5 and 15, will think about retirement around their mid-to-late 20’s and their life expectancy is around 55.

First Team

Goalkeeper

1. Sjiu – (Xat’i, F, 3)

Sjiu is the team’s star player. A phenomenal shot stopper with incredible agility as well as a real presence in the box despite not being particularly large. This is mostly due to her ability to spring and intercept almost any cross or long ball into her goal area before you’re even aware where she is. Likewise, in a one-on-one situation, she covers a much greater majority of the goal than you’d think with her impossibly quick reaction times. The one saving grace for those trying to score against her is that she seldom catches the ball, favouring instead to punch it away. Ideally to a non-penguin teammate with the hope of initiating a counterattack. This isn’t always the most effective course of action and, with enough bites of the cherry you’re sure to prove that she isn’t infallible.
Defenders

2. Nigel – (Penguin, M, unknown)
3. Trevor – (Penguin, M, unknown)
4. Karen – (Penguin, F, unknown)
5. Jim – (Penguin, M, unknown)
6. Ethel – (Penguin, F, unknown)

The ‘defence’ consists of a number of slightly trained penguins whose sole purpose is to get in the way of attackers. They are weirdly good at this. Not that they can do anything with the ball having dispossessed your attacker on account of your attacker literally tripping over the ball as they failed to notice the penguin in the way. They’re somewhat reliant on a non-penguin teammate taking possession at this point. However, it’s also just as likely that you’ll trip over a penguin itself and receive a free kick but thankfully, our keeper is excellent from dead-ball opportunities. Likewise, free kicks could go against you when one of your players barrels into a penguin they didn’t initially notice, thus nullifying attacks.
It will be infuriating, and we’re banking on that upsetting your carefully thought-out tactics.
Oh, and keep an eye on Jim. He has a habit of being in exactly the right place at the right time. No-one has the slightest clue how he manages it. If the unbelievable happens and a penguin manages to score, you can bet money it’ll be Jim …
Midfielders

7. Hleqrru – (Xat’i, M, 6)

There's not really a name for the position Hleqrru plays within the team. Unless you consider 'Wide attacking central defensive midfielder' a feasible position. He functions in a sort of sweeper role, just all over the pitch, mopping up loose balls and muscling about the opposition. Between Sjiu, him and the penguins, they keep a pretty tight ship at the back. However, when he does gain the ball, he generally tries to work himself into a shooting position regardless of how wide open any number of other teammates may be and regardless of where he obtained possession. He's somewhat of a liability in this respect.

8. Kiaren Schlippe – (Human, M, 24)

Brother to the striker; Iona, Kiaren is a more traditional deep midfielder than his Xat'i counterpart. Also, he's the player the penguins have been taught not to advance beyond (except Jim, Jim does his own thing) so he's always got one eye on his defensive duties whilst he tries to feed the wingers, or his sister with a well-timed long ball. Though he's generally good tempered off the field, he's likely to get boisterous at times and possibly incur the wrath of the referee.

9. Error Message – ((some sort of defective cloned) Human, M, unknown (looks early 30’s)) - Acting Interrim Manager

The most succinct way that one could describe Error would be to generate a sentence of gibberish by bashing their face upon a keyboard repeatedly; words do not do him justice. He is a force for chaos, randomness, and absurdity. He is a remnant of the old times prior to the Paradystopi cheese-pocalypse, and why he still exists, no-one has a clue. Plus he’s not the sort of person one can simply get a straight answer from. His most recent explanation involved apparently coating himself in a lactase producing yeast (to repel dairy produce) and convincing himself he was a biscuit (to blend in amongst a landscape of cheese).
His footballing abilities are just as unpredictable. He could spend the full 90 minutes making epic runs and breaks up and down the right wing, whipping in pinpoint passes to his teammates whilst wearing a rubber chicken on each foot. He could also spend the entire match face down on the turf insisting he’s psychically communicating with the grass and attempting to persuade it to tie the opposing team’s shoelaces together.
A wild card is probably the most apt descriptor for Error. Maybe a wild deck actually. Assuming the ‘deck’ in question is a large plastic bag containing 4 half-full decks of playing cards, 3 sets of dice for Dungeons and Dragons, the contents of a set of Monopoly, a live squirrel, and the contents of one of those old metal biscuit tins you find in a parent or grandparents house that’s invariably full of useless shit.

10. Anja Bortland – (Human, F, 27) - Captain

Anja has been given the unenviable task of captaining the team largely due to having previously been a penguin researcher and being the person in the team with the greatest chance of getting the penguins to actually do what they're supposed to. However, this does belie her footballing ability somewhat. She is more than capable in the left midfield and links up well with Iona in the wide positions, as well as having a knack for knowing when to cut inside or where to find free space in an opposition's midfield or defense.
Attacker

11. Iona Schlippe – (Human, F, 21)

Sister to Kiaren, Iona is one of those strikers who's very difficult to mark. She has an excellent turn of pace and great agility to match. Most often she can be found loitering just outside the offside trap wait for a chance to pounce only to draw a defender away and let one of the midfielders through into space. Despite having good awareness, she's not particularly imposing in the air and much prefers the ball at her feet. And even then she's often guilty of taking one too many steps in goal-scoring positions.
Substitutes

12. Olii – (Xat’i, M, 4)

An all-purpose substitute for the team. Not as specialized as the other Xat’i in the squad, but a fairly decent jack-of-all-trades. Refuses to play in goal though.

13. Fred – (Penguin, M, unknown)

Substitute goalkeeper. Not because he’s any good at it; he’s just a bit chunkier than the other penguins.

14. Jeremy – (Penguin, M, unknown)
15. Edna – (Penguin, F, unknown)
16. Patricia – (Penguin, F, unknown)
17. Julia – (Penguin, F, unknown)
18. Barry – (Penguin, M, unknown)
19. Harold – (Penguin, M, unknown)
20. Steve – (Penguin, M, unknown)
21. Bob – (Penguin, M, unknown)
22. Roger – (Penguin, M, unknown)

All the penguin substitutes are more-or-less placeholders. There to give the appearance of the squad having some depth, rotate the current ‘defence’, and potentially bolster the defence should fatigue hit and we’re trying to cling on to a result.

23. Rhoderick Erdnussbougher – (Human, M, 57)
Rhoderick is the team’s manager, or at least the closest the squad has to one. Apparently, he was quite adept some thirty plus years ago and he does keep himself in reasonable shape for his age. In the right circumstances he will bring himself on as a sort of deep playmaker for the final five or ten minutes, if there’s a chance to push for a result. Can certainly whip in an accurate dead-ball to a team-mate, or slot a tricksy curler in the top bins, so there’s very much potential for you to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory if Rhoderick’s on the field.
Though we’d likely be more susceptible to counterattacks too in this situation, so I guess it balances out …

Tactical Information

...ha... tactics?

The general method of play adopted by the squad, and implemented by Rhoderick has been coined Park the penguin, and punt; basically a combination of parking the bus when defending, and a good, old fashioned route one approach for offense. Dull, yes. Boring 'anti-football', also yes. But effective ... ermm ... maybe?
The more sophisticated formation with attacking that the team try to implement is if you consider the human outfield players as a sort of fixed diamond whereby if one winger drops back, the other advances to provide attacking opportunities with a long cross ball as well as the midfielder and striker pivoting from their more central positions. Hleqrru 'should' keep himself within the middle of this diamond but chances are that he'll be looking for his own opportunities and howling incessantly for the ball.

Stadium Information

There is no stadium here in Paradystopia, what we have is a football pitch. To even call it a football pitch is grossly overselling it.

We have a muddy field with goalposts at either end and some white lines eyeballed in.

It is covered in lumps and divots, frequently waterlogged and festooned with penguin detritus. It's a mess. The more dangerous potholes have been crudely filled with sand to hopefully limit injuries somewhat so that's something.
The dimensions of the field may feel a bit off to your players. That's because they are. It's a bit too long, and a bit too narrow as well as one touchline being about 12 feet longer than the other so the pitch is slightly trapezoid in shape. One of the goal-lines bows somewhat too to the point that scoring directly from a corner is possible without putting any curl on the ball.

There's a good chance it breaks about every rule and regulation required for a pitch for international fixtures. Thankfully, none of the official inspectors from the World Cup Committee wanted to actually come to Paradystopia to inspect the facilities. We just sent them a picture of some random football stadium we found on the internet, photoshopped in a few penguins and a Paradystopi flag here and there and no-one asked any more questions.

General National Information

Currently, Paradystopia is little more than a small archipelago of isolated islands which serve as breeding grounds for assorted seabirds. That, with a tiny pocket of human/xat'i habitation.

There is no airport, no seaport, no roads in the conventional sense.

We do have a pontoon. When the seals aren't using it to bask upon, that is.

Getting here will be a logistical nightmare. A seaplane is probably your best option, or chartering a boat from some more developed Esportivan nation with a coast.

If you're planning on bringing a large contingent of traveling fans, please don't. We don't have the infrastructure. Alternatively, if you were to hire a cruise ship or such to drop anchor somewhere off-shore to house and cater for everyone yourself, we might just about manage.

My opponent, if they RP first, may not do the following:

Kill my players.

Beyond that ...
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you
- attrib. Some Middle-eastern Dude

This is usually my maxim with RP permissions. If you allow it, as do I.
Though TG me first if you plan to do something ridiculous which could have major consequences.

Keep An Eye On:
Maartin STUERO
There's no question to why Maartin Stuero is on the KAEO list this World Cup.
With consistent performances everywhere he competes, his strong leadership skills and confidence, he deserves a spot.
Maartin Stuero is dedicated to his team, his country, and everything he stands for.
He soars on the pitch with rapid dribbles, mind-shattering reads, and powerful shots that send the Edsmon fans cheering.

Alongside his teammates, he carried the Edsmon team to 4th place in the last world cup.
And alongside his teammates, he will carry Edsmontik to victory this year.

Stadium

Information
The Karmic Republic of Edsmontik is located in the very Northeastern tip of Karma, bordering the East Karman Ocean.
It is home to approximately 198 million people, which mostly live in the densely populated cities of Touve, Woodhill, Yaneu, and more.
The Edsmon population is diverse, full of people from every corner of Karma and other regions around the multiverse.
People commonly come to the nation to witness the ice-cold winters in Skejiver and Northeviige-Tretovikenhanz, the beautiful beaches of the coastal cities, and the massive sports events that range from stock car racing to football/soccer and handball.

Being so far north, the summers are mild temperatures, barely going past 60 degrees Fahrenheit in the warmest areas.
Winters can be freezing, especially up in Skejiver and N.T., with temperatures dropping as low as -7 degrees Fahrenheit.
Sports have had a long history in the nation, beginning as far back as the early 1700s when Vdes, Lunsfjall, and Taya-Trosi were planning to unify.
Sports boomed during this time, with people looking for ways to entertain themselves.
And eventually, when Edsmontik was formed, the nations combined their sports into leagues and competitions.

Touve Suberarenae
Image
Image created using AI*
Located in southeastern Touve in Austrankank, the Touve Suberarenae is the World Cup's Edsmon stadium.
Looking at its former shell just two years prior, what it fits now is simply not able to be compared to.
Edsmontik has done a lot; and they'll be showing it through their new and first 100,000 seats stadium.
Following the Suberarenae will soon be every other major stadium- to possibly house 75000-90000 fans each.
The new Suberarenae is built partially into the ground and will be Touve Tajhav's home stadium starting the 2031 season.
It is estimated that 100,870 people will be able to sit in this stadium.

Lurrev is a Solgavish athletic apparel corporation headquartered in Lysborg. Founded in 1932 by close friends Felix Kroon and Klas Hylander, Lurrev grew from their small store in Torkola to become the largest domestic sporting goods company in Solgavden. Since 1958, Lurrev has been the primary supplier of the Royal Solgavish Football Federation (RSFF), including the Kongensliga.

The Royal Confederation of the Visayas Islands, commonly called Visayas Islands, is a federal parliamentary constitutional monarchy nation in the Asian part of the Nordic Lands. The Visayas Islands covers 71,503 square kilometers and has has an estimated population of 21,155,014. The Visayas Islands comprises of 15 autonomous provinces, 3 autonomous provincial districts, a metropolitan district, 6 major islands, an autonomous independent state, and 3 disputed territories.

Sports have been popular with the Visayans to young and old but football is one of the most popular sports in the Islands beside basketball, volleyball, and boxing. It was first brought by the British in mid-1890s when the first wave of European immigration to Visayas happened. It was loved by everyone and even wholeheartedly supported the football team in the 1913 Far Eastern Games. And still is the most popular sport in all over Visayas Islands ever since.

Before every start of the match, the whole Visayan fanatics will sing Uruguay national team's favorite anthem, Cielo de un solo color after the national team heard the song in their training in Uruguay in a friendly against Danubio FC before the 2004 AFF Championship kicks in, and made the song popular with the Visayans, before the Uruguayans got it theirs in 2010. It has been a crowd favorite for the Visayans and they've even sing it in other tournaments

Keep An Eye On:
Deus VOLLDO
Yes, he's on the bench. We know.
With Wedich's team unsure about Volldo's complete worth, it's not obvious for us to have chosen Deus Volldo.
However, look at the Baptism of Fire.
Yes, Wedich got knocked out in the Ro16.
But Deus Volldo, out of nowhere, showed up and began doing stuff.
More stuff than the current starter, Vons der-Reio.
So KAEO, if Deus "Detros" Volldo gets his cleats on the ball, he might just turn the wind to Wedich's side.

Stadium

Information
The Sub-Karmic or Icorian Republic of Wedich is an island nation located in the region Icor, which is in Karmic boundaries.
The nation is home to around 300,000 people, who bask in the warm-ish temperatures in major cities.
Living costs are low, transportation is cheap, and Edsmontik, the former colonizer of the island, feeds them a constant supply of up-to-date technology.

Kenz-Ollstre Arenae
Image
image is AI generated*
Located in Shonz-Volstre, a southern province in Wedich, the Kenz-Ollstre Arenae was named after Korl Kenz and Vansen Ollstre, the designers.
It was rebuilt just two years ago and now will be Wedich's World Cup stadium.
It is estimated that about 25,000 spectators can sit in the Kenz-Ollstre Arenae.

GRACIOUS STATE OF KANZLIA ROSTER

OFFICIAL TEAM ROSTER
WORLD CUP 99

MEMBER ASSOCIATION: Voetbal Vereniging Kanzlia (VVK)
NICKNAME: Prowlers
REGION: Esportiva
TRIGRAM: KNZ
MODIFIER: +2.8

Kanzlia, formally recognised as Gracious Kanzlian State, is an island ceremonial kingdom on the far north of Esportiva. The country is divided into 10 provinces. Its main island, Kalta, consists of nearly 85% of the country's population whilst the smaller island of Serentia makes up the rest. The seat of power in Kanzlia lies on its southernmost and largest port city of Szbedansk. It’s followed by the cities of Kotr, Tergtheim, and Ibsia. The country is well known for the cold.

The Kanzlian Football Association (Also known as Voetbal Vereniging Kanzlia) was founded in 1900 but Kanzlian Football, in its current pyramid, was only finalised in the 1990s. Prior to this, a double league system was utilised. Anyhow, football is by far the most popular sport in Kanzlia with stadiums jam-packed full in every match of the season. Kanzlia with its history of hardships and prolonged periods of misery has resulted in a deep connection between the sport and Kanzlian society. The culture of the sport is one of fiery passion but also with a noticeable aspect of humbleness. A pundit said that Kanzlians are the sorest of losers during the 90 minutes, but once the game ends they switch back to normal often with an optimistic mood regardless of the result.

Kanzlia plays its official games in the Stadia Szbedansk, a relatively modern 53,280 seater stadium.

Manager: Bishen Varadarajan. Formerly of Namiri Independent, who are the newest contender among the "best clubs not named Ephesian." While this aproach is likely to promote better team cohesion (and obedience to the laws of the game) than the alternative, it is unclear whether it is actually a recipe for success. Varadarajan seems to be vaguely envious of baseball's advanced statistics, and tries to rip off advanced sizbermetric projections for football purposes, to mixed results.

Thanks to Ko-oren for the three-trait summary approach.

Goalkeepers:
1. Blanche Coogan-Bucknell (Sporting Esper) (f) (first tournament: WC96 Q) distant, artistic, classy
12. Tandre Vusin-Jacques (102d Jr.s) (m) (first tournament: WC95 Q) laid-back, lanky, amusing
23. Tinn Jejue (FTC United) (m) (first tournament: WC97 Q) cranky, babbles, hypochondriac
24. Frank Olmsted (Rovers United) (m) (first tournament: WC97 Q) absentminded, fidgety, makes easy plays hard

Defenders:
2. Sohini Dravid (Namiri Independent) (f) (1 goal) (first tournament: WC97 Q) judgmental, contrarian, polyglot
3. Eileen Gainsborough (Rovers United) (f) (first tournament: WC96 Q) patient, a mentor, doesn't rack up many steps [captain]
4. Sullivan Brecht (FTC United) (m) (2 goals) (first tournament: WC96 Q) wide-eyed, supportive, calculating
5. Camille Sibelius (Canbix Muses) (f) (first tournament: CoH 90) daydreamer, hesitant, good dribbler
13. Gretchen Lavenza (FTC United) (f) (first tournament: WC97 Q) flirtatious, selfless, injury-prone
14. Diana Schell-Cioban (Excelsior Slogda) (f) (first tournament: WC97 Q) fast, good at headers, camera-shy
15. Lorraine Rouwen-Horn (Ephesian FC) (f) (first tournament: WC95 Q) better lucky than good, assertive, good at comebacks
16. Lobsang Pokhriyal (Namiri Forest) (m) (first tournament: WC98 Q) keen sense of timing, equinamous, don't-rock-the-boat
25. Minerva Gerdt-Arbden (Canbix Muses) (f) (first tournament: WC99 Q) sneaky, wiry, meticulous towards nutrition

8. Jubilee McGraw (Sporting Esper) (f) (5 goals) (first tournament: WC96 Q) generous, superstitious, forgive-and-forget
9. Nicholas Palmetto (Rovers United) (m) (4 goals) (first tournament: WC96 Q) punctual, speedy, practices hard

21. Chloe Flen-Willis (Ephesian FC) (f) (3 goals) (first tournament: WC97 Q) tall, sociable, rule-bender

Zwangzug officially have no nickname, but are increasingly likely to respond to "Zebras" from other teams' fans (this is the official name of their baseball national team).

If RPing first, please feel free to name goalscorers, injure, and distribute cards to my players at will! You can also godmod events, though I'd appreciate advance warning if you want to take narrative liberties that I couldn't just as easily do to your team (due to being, e.g., a mostly-MT, mostly-human country). Put another way, metaphorical "godmodding" is welcome if clever, but I'd avoid the literal sense. Also, do not cause lasting harm in my country and/or to my citizens without contacting me first.

Coach: Pierre Camanin
Assistant: Rien Charbreaux
Assistant: Eleo Vicard
Selection Priority: Slowly but surely integrating more Lige 1 talent as the league gets better
Formation: 4-4-2
Style Mod: +4

Pierre Camanin saved himself last year with his aggressive approach. Now he is starting to introduce younger and more athletic talent to the roster in order to experiment more with this newfound successful style. Miren Saloux-Chard is replaced in the starting lineup by Ariou Adalrisse: a very physical and imposing striker who has cut his teeth in a difficult league. Roquen Perugignac still retains his position in the second striker spot due to his incredible playmaking and good enough finishing ability. Elmaire deu Cavaldraissaiy is now on the left replacing Martin Ivicer in the starting lineup. Very much the penatly taker and still a pacey winger who can wreak havoc on opposing defenders. In the center of the midfield Ingalcer "Payday" Pardau does the dirty work in the midfield with a bit of flair on his passes, the new addition is the talk of the country.

Etheur Briganteun finds himself on the starting lineup due to his playmaking and experience. Herbie Chandelique will be in rotation with Briganteun and both have similar roles in this system which is to push the ball downfield to catch the opponents off guard. Louis D'Aupalice is the reason why Elmaire is on the left. D'Aupalice is a big match player and rises to the occasion damn near every time, he is extremely hard working and has a never-ending motor it seems. The defense has 3 typical starters. Vitore Enetac is an incredible defender in his own right with nasty crossing ability. Prospierre Aregnac-Tignon is almost a complete defender at his young age, a pivotal piece in getting Angevines back to IFCF play and had a good enough campaign last WC cycle. Charles Delaire is the stalwart veteran of the defense, always a solid and consistent defender who brings experience and leadership to the defense. The surprising pick this time around is young defender Arin Seaxany. Pierre Camanin was impressed with Seaxany's season with Noechatel Athletike but most seem to be weary of the selection, noting the huge lack of experience.

After last cycle it is very hard to get a read on the strength of this team. It's still probably the midfield and attack seeing as there is good enough depth throughout. The defense is young but was good enough to get Auprussia to its first World Cup. Pierre Camanin is already near untouchable due to his stellar job last cycle but doing it twice in a row would be excellent for his legacy.

Stadiums:
Parc De Nasional (55000): Fully repaired and plays host to Tasse Du Auprussia Finals after the conclusion of Lige 1's 5th season. Surrounding the stadium is the bustling Striga district which has been in a boom period for a while. Many people watch the festivities from their roofs. It is also beginning to be called the "Lantern District" due to the abnormal amount of lanters displayed throughout the district.

Parc d'Auprus (45000): Home to a rejuvenated Auprussia NF located in the Cenviesse district of Auprus by a marine research facility it was one of the few stadiums not affected by the financial money pit that was Lige PRO. Fans come by boat to observe the marine life nearby the research facility or they come by train which drops them off right in front of the stadium. The community has found itself on a crossroads as the decline of Auprussia NF has coincided with the decline of Cenviesse (The district the stadium is in).

Coeur de Sassen Alexia (60000): Another stadium owned by a Lige 1 club, the newly promoted but very old powerhouse Alexia. Founded in the Alexia-Roswulfe district it has a "unique" contingent of fans who travel by horse like the old Sassen merchants used to do. The newer Sassen merchants just prefer to move their goods by trucks or trains and sell them in the biggest market in Auprussia.

The Baptism of Fire in Indusse produced many mixed feelings in Solgavden. On one hand, the team performed worse than expected, barely avoiding getting knocked out in the group stage, and losing in the Round of 16. On the other hand, many are proud of how De Rega Röda rallied back after their loss to Woodsmere, including great games against both Wedich and the Visayas Islands. The main takeaways for the team to consider is that offensively, the team is very strong, with multiple players being offensive threats, and goals being relatively spread out around the team. However, team defense is Solgavden's main weakness, as the team tied for the most goals against in the group stage, and Kristoffersan was left out to dry multiple times. Defense will be the Solgavs' focus in training in the weeks before WC qualifiers, and they have to get better if Solgavden wants to reach their goal of qualifying for the World Cup.

Team Management
Manager: Peter Strömberg - 66
Assistant Manager: Anders Lyngstad - 43
Offensive Coach: Charlotte Erlandsan - 47
Defensive & Goalkeeper Coach: Paul Ravn - 52

Starters:
GK: #1 Gunnvaldr "Gunny" Kristoffersan - 33 - Rega Lysborg
Gunny Kristoffersan is a veteran goalkeeper for De Rega Röda, having been the team's starter for over a decade. Gunny is a fan-favorite, and has earned the nickname "The Flying Viking" due to his acrobatic saves and long blond hair. With his years of experience, he is unlikely to make naive mistakes, making him a hard goalkeeper to beat. Kristoffersan is a smart playmaker, often directing defensive players on how to position themselves. He also has a close relationship with team manager Peter Strömberg, due to making his senior debut in the final years of Strömberg's legendary tenure as Rega Lysborg's manager. After a lackluster performance in the Baptism of Fire, some are beginning to question the goalkeeper's abilities on the biggest stage, and Gunny is looking forward to prove himself to the world and to his homeland.

LB: #17 Johan Lind - 24 - Torkola Village FK
Lind is the younger brother of hockey star Rune Lind, and has had trouble stepping out of his brother's shadow. However, he has proven himself to be a capable defender, being a key part of Torkola Village's meteoric rise from near relegation to league contenders over the past few years. Lind is known for his athleticism, size, and kind nature, often being described as a "gentle giant".

CB: #3 Kennet Roenfeldt - 25 - Vennesberg United
Roenfeldt is one of Solgavden's best defenders, winning the award for best Kongensliga defender last season. He is known for his speed, and his explosive ability to clear the ball and make plays. While being one of the team's best defenders during the Baptism on Fire, the team as a whole performed bad defensively, and Roenfeldt especially needs to step up during World Cup qualifiers.

CB: #5 António Ramirez - 22 - Kosmopolitisk Lunaris
Ramirez is a third generation immigrant whose family settled in the Lunaris district of Orliss, one of the most diverse places in Solgavden. As such, he naturally idolized Kosmo Lunaris, a team founded by immigrants, and excelled at their academy. Now Ramirez is a consistent performer at the senior level, and his efforts has not gone unnoticed by Strömberg, who has given him his first senior start at the national team. Ramirez is a physical defender, often choosing to make somewhat risky tackles in order to win the ball.

RB: #28 Rikard Björkstrand - 29 - Egerheim Kyst
Björkstrand is a veteran presence that is definitely needed for De Rega Röda's backline. He has performed consistently in the Kongensliga for years, winning the league title and King Halfdan IV Cup multiple times for clubs such as Rega Lysborg and De Vursen FK.

CDM: #23 Paul Arentz - 19 - De Vursen FK
Arentz shined for Solgavden during his brief appearance in the Baptism of Fire, effectively blocking shots and clearing the ball, and well as being a tight man-marker. This, along with the young player's speed, made Stromberg consider him to be a better fit for the CDM role than more offensive minded player Alex Braun.

LM: #7 Rohit Mishra - 24 - Vennesberg United
Known for his speed and dribbling ability, Mishra is a difficult player to tackle, often leaving defenders in the dust. A second generation immigrant himself, Mishra pushes himself daily to make his family back home and the nation he represents proud. Mishra has been a star for the national team during the Baptism of Fire, scoring two goals and an assist during the team's four matches. If he continues this pace, Mishra could easily be one of the team's top offensive threats.

RM: #15 Aki Hagen - 26 - Limmiera FC
Hagen is a fan favorite in Limmiera due to his level-headed style of play, rarely letting his nerves get to him. This is made him especially effective at set-pieces, bringing his team victory at the when the lights shine brightest. Hagen is also a favorite of Chancellor Nicklas Sondergaard, who occasionally wears his jersey at parliament after a big victory.

CAM: #8 Soren Danielsan - 28 - Walsbruck FK
Danielsan is a very accurate passer, with the skill to give a striker a perfectly placed ball on a cross. As such, Danielsan has been the Kongensliga leader in assists for the past two seasons, and is set to repeat again. Danielsan is also the first openly gay player in the Kongensliga, and was immediately celebrated by the nation. This, mixed with his kind and modest nature, has made him one of the most popular players in the country. He is also a loyal vice-captain and team player, often donning an armband himself when Halvorsan isn't playing, or during pride-themed games.

LS: #11 Kristian Tennefjord - 21 - Relv Sisse
Tennefjord is the new young star of Solgavish football. A constant threat to opposing defenses, Tennefjord is both quick and accurate on his shots, which proves to be a deadly combination. The World Cup is the perfect opportunity for him to excel, as well as learn under Halvorsan, who Tennefjord grew up watching. Tennefjord and Halvorsan has already proven to be a deadly duo, with the pair scoring the majority of the team's goals during the Baptism of Fire.

RS: #9 Sigmund "Sig" Halvorsan [C] - 35 - De Vursen FK
The face of Solgavish sports for almost two decades, Halvorsan is arguably the greatest footballer in Solgavish history, although some still make the case that Harald Kistner is the best. Halvorsan has won nearly everything on the domestic side of the sport, including recently winning the Kongensliga title and KH4 Cup with De Vursen. Now he strives to succeed internationally, and to bring success to Solgavden. Standing at an imposing 6' 5", Halvorsan is a physical player with a powerful shot that is difficult to stop. Although he had a falling out with manager Peter Strömberg during his early days at Rega Lysborg, the two still work well together, with Strömberg playing to Halvorsan's strengths, and Halvorsan being the manager's voice to the team. Despite his age, Halvorsan is still an effective payer, scoring three goals during the Baptism of Fire, including a crucial goal late in Match 3 against Wedich.

At the very end of qualifications to the 98th World Cup, Timotej Hansen - assistant coach to legends Bjørnstjerne Eriksen and Enda Clentin alike - suddenly found himself the de facto head coach of the Prosaic Union National Football Team. When Clentin simultaneously vanished without a trace and got sacked, it was only natural that his second-in-command took over. Timotej, ever the timid man and with a personality reminiscent of trying to hold in explosive diarrhea while desperately searching for a toilet in a crowded maze, was not enthused. However, he soldiered through it. We could go on and on about the intricacies of the system he implemented and how he claimed it was the perfect amalgamation of previously trusted systems - the Stoic Press and the Layered Wall - and therefore the quintessential highest form of «Gnejsian Football», but let's just state that The Dandelions now play according to a strange 2-3-2-1-2 philosophy known as The Tulip With Stinging Bees.

About the Prosaic Union

The Prosaic Union of Gnejs – commonly abbreviated PUG, colloquially called 'The Union', often nicknamed 'The Rock' – is a country located in the far north-east of Rushmore. A constant source of bewilderment for many, the name Gnejs comes from the native word for the type of metamorphic rock called gneiss in English and German. The root of the word is believed to derive from the High German gneist, meaning roughly 'spark', the link being that the rock glitters. Gneiss is a common rock type across the territory making up the modern-day nation and has historically been a readily used building material component.

A vast and sparsely populated land, The Union covers about 1 220 000 square kilometers and has a population of just under 14 million. It is divided into four big regions – Berg (north), Birka (east), Ängby (west) and Vika (south) – which in turn are divided into counties and municipalities. The Interior comprises an immense area of more or less untouched wilderness at the heart of the country's inland and covers parts of all four regions. The capital city is called Port Kejm and is located on the coast in the region of Birka. All Dandelion home qualification games will be played here.

People in general are quiet and reserved. While idle small talk without purpose amongst strangers might be considered appropriate and expected in some places, in The Union it is usually frowned upon and considered bothersome. The native tongue is called 'Gnejsian' (native: gnejsiska) and has a long and rich history. There's an abundance of regional dialects, some so distinct from others that many have suggested they really constitute different – albeit strongly related – languages. It is common to divide the many dialects into three different 'families', north-eastern (OOC: Norwegian), western (OOC: Swedish) and southron (OOC: Danish). Children learn English (known in The Union as 'the common tongue') from the age of five, and the population at large is generally considered to be fluent.

Tactics
Hahn is a classicalist who sticks to the essence of Veilfaltigian football embodying the possession style. Playing a straightforward 4-3-3 with a holding midfielder, it is a style which is defensively sound and solid while possessing the ammunition to be attacking when needed. In the national team, the role of the fullbacks is one of utmost importance. The Veilfaltigian fullbacks unlike those of other nations choose to hang back to prevent quick counter-attacks on the wings. The general approach of the team is slow buildup using the midfield engine while ensuring that this does not result in any unforeseen goals going against us.
The defenders tend to stick back including the fullbacks as they act as a surety to prevent any counterattacks. The midfield is a critical part as the holding midfielder forms the link between the players upfront and the defence. The midfield will often keep possession amongst themselves looking for an opening to distribute the ball too. In this style of play, we often see the midfield move the ball back to the defence in case of a lack of space or passing opportunities upfront. To facilitate the possession style, the role of the wingers is primarily to make runs on the wings creating space. Occasionally they will be joined by the fullbacks in offense however this is a rare and more desperate measure. The centre forward plays an important role in dropping back to link with the midfield on occasion playing one-twos and creating space for the wingers.

The Republic of Bohr National Football Team, 2003

World Cup 99, qualifying

Team Colors: Maroon and White (White and Maroon, if we’re feeling fancy)
Style Mod: -1

Head Coach:
After a not-strictly-awful-in-terms-of-results-but-utterly-horrible-to-watch Copa Rushmori run, Ellis Leach was let go; in his place is 62-year-old three-piece suit enthusiast Alex Moll, who recently resigned from BCF's Heavenly Princess (the one job in Bohr that might actually be more stressful as a coach). Moll played for Heavenly Princess in the amateur era, when only ring-bearing members of the Order were allowed; a long series of collegiate jobs followed, most notably picking up two national championships with Southwest Provinical. With name value in both the south and the Becis area, Moll was generally accepted as a reasonable choice despite the lack of trophies at HP. He's more well known as a "CEO" and recruiter than a tactician, and generally runs a fairly loose 4-4-2, with his stars being given lots of leeway to maneuver as they see fit.

The Players:
#1: Amine Bouquet (vice-captain), LB, age 26, Avanaroch White Wings FC (TKT); 16 caps, 1 assist
#2: Robert McKay, CB, age 24, Heavenly Princess; 0 caps

#23: August Soto, CB, age 33, Motan FC; 16 caps, 1 goal
#24: Jackie Ding, ST, age 25, Weaver Union; 0 caps
#25: Everett Bonner, RM/RB, age 28, Shansco Iron; 0 caps

Hit a Nice Cross: Garnett, Healy, Sheve
Hit a Nice Through-Ball: Khalikov, Schuyler, Roces
Make a Good Tackle and/or Get Carded: Bouquet, Brunner, Bonner
Take Penalties: Sullivan, Turner, Healy
Take Free Kicks: Schuyler, Healy, Khalikov

RP Permissions:
See above for which players should be doing which things; you don't have to 100% stick to that, but it's a solid guideline.
Cards and injuries are fine as long as they're not overly severe, as far as godmods go I'd prefer "has happened at least a couple times in a real football game before"
If you think something is going to be weird, or just have a RP idea that you want to run by me, feel free to TG/DM me; I'm probably most available on Discord as gold_en, but will try to respond to NS stuff also.
Thanks!

Manager

His father was one of the first stars of domestic football and the man himself has been at the pinnacle of the sport for the last fifteen years. With that resumé in mind, Archibald Price seems an excellent choice to guide the national team to glory. That he has no experience in team management and had never really voiced an interest in the position was duly overlooked by the overseeing committee that placed him in charge. Price, a tough defender back in his day, will field something that reminds of a stubborn 4-5-1 but is prone to throw in an attacking element such as Doucouré, Lancetti or Blanton if the Red Turtles fall behind with time running out.

Goalkeepers

1. Conor O’Reilly (Pine Street FC)
12. Izak Powell (Oakling Sharks)

Probably the hardest choice to make for Price came between the goalposts. After a thorough analysis, the national manager discovered that there is not a single goalkeeper with an Anewkansan passport who is more than a bit above average. Eventually, he settled on a duo that at least opens up options. O’Reilly, the designated starter, can touch the crossbar without jumping and as such covers a good portion of the goal. Additionally, he can kick the ball quite far, which is a good thing, right? Falls over with the elegance of a broomstick, unfortunately. His back-up, Powell, would have been a good goalkeeper if born from a taller pair of parents. Unfortunately, he has to make do with his excellent reflexes, active guidance of the defenders and shotstopping skills.

Defenders

2. Baylor Rivers (Mount Bleak Ironheads)
3. Dominic Merrick (Bridgehead Mavericks)
4. Stu Miller (Lokomotiv Crestbeck)
5. Karl Hullbacher (Officers Club)
13. Sven Almsund (Sporting Sixth)
14. Parker Stafford (Officers Club)
15. Nicolas Legroux (Daring Comrades)

Defending is a cornerstone of Anewkansan football but, as transfers are a complicated matter in our national competition, most of that strength is based upon the interaction of multiple players. Price could have picked just one backline of a famed club but that would have been a tough sell to the other teams so he just tried to find the vital parts to create something new. For the long term, this must be a good idea but it will take some time for everything to gel together. In terms of typology, Rivers assures infiltration, Merrick takes care of leadership, Miller can keep a striker out of the game and Hullbacher gets his reputation from being extremely reliable. The bench has a certain ‘more of the same’ vibe with a focus on physicality.

Midfielders

6. Guy Marchand (IntraFin Beavers)
7. Harvey McIntyre (Officers Club)
8. Blake Herrington (BlackWood Industries City)
10. Marcus Puckett (Bridgehead Hammers)
11. Juan José Sevilla (Sporting Sixth)
16. Pitt van Dam (Shakhtar Coalton)
17. Stefan Shaffer (Bridgehead Mavericks)
18. Toussaint Doucouré (Oakling Armada)

The five-player midfield gets anchored by two players who will police the traffic in their own way. Guy Marchand is not afraid to cut down the opposition and rarely leaves the field without a card (requiring back-up van Dam to make a good number of minutes as well). On the other hand, there is deep lying playmaker McIntyre who is crucial to pick up balls in the back and restart play. Theoretically, the game plan revolves around Marcus Puckett whose football skills highly outweigh his interpersonal potential: he believes the earth also revolves around him. To compensate for that, Price places his faith in two reliable assistants, the infiltrating and omnipresent Sevilla and the clever Herrington who always finds a way to speed up the rhythm.

Attackers

9. Pershing Major (Sporting Sixth)
19. Giulio Lancetti (FC Fourth Regiment)
20. Errol Blanton (Oakling Sharks)

One attacker up front and then the choice fell to Pershing Major, who comes from a longstanding line of Majors, majors and other military personnel. ‘Percy’ (as everyone out of earshot calls him) is a graceful attacker who makes war in the box, possesses two good feet and can deliver a thundering shot. Whether that will suffice to carry our attack or if he will be left up front on a deserted island is not clear: he’s not the type of guy who will chase every opposing defender for ninety minutes. In that vision, the short Lancetti is a good alternative as a poacher who can annoy the enemy. If the plan tilts to two strikers, the towering Errol Blanton definitely enters the conversation: he is not a striking machine but can allow a team to move forward.

Stadium

Welcome to Bridgehead! Or Oakling. The home games will be split between Fallstaff Stadium and St Julie’s Den. The former, located in the capital, is a modern, soulless block of concrete that can sell a lot of tickets. Away fans are stuck in a blind corner but otherwise everything will be cleanly handled, including close proximity to the airport. For close games, the FA could fall back to the Oakling option, a smaller but atmospheric venue with a lot of standing areas. Expect flares and smoke bombs there, apparently they are cheaper in this coastal hub. The away dressing room has an extremely inconvenient wall along the middle.

General Style

When it comes to stylish, there is a simple rule: the Turtles play in a red shirt. Full stop. Our kit manager does not care that that is your preferred colour as well and will only bargain with regards to the shorts and socks (default blue-white, but optionally all white or all black). He has a categorical belief that it frightens the opposition and Price is afraid of him. That kit guy is a psychotic skinhead, you know. Goalkeepers play in that chemical blue hue that can be seen from a mile away.

As a football team, Anewkansas will be an annoying opponent: they play physical football and will not shy away from intimidating opposing players. Star midfielders especially should tape in their ankles with an extra layer. On the counterattack, you can expect them to move forward fast and in numbers, but they will crawl back to their own half just as fast. If you can crack the code, make sure to create a gap, quickly. As long as the difference is just one goal, we will turn down the sportsmanship button a few notches more: diving, pushing, spitting, … You name it. But if you truly overpower Anewkansas, they can fall apart like dry sand.

Organisational Stuff

If my opponent posts first, they can decide scorers, hand out cards and give injuries. No killing without discussing it first with me. Unless it's like, genius writing. But if you act silly, I will be silly as well. Same goes for godmodding, you can go crazy if you want but if it’s in poor taste, I might retaliate. Or not. Practically anything goes. But whatever happens, we wear red shirts.

Style modifier: +2 Wasn’t the whole shtick that you guys defend a lot? Yes, but our goalie is a bit shit.

Images are AI generated and they probably always will from my side.

Home Stadium:
National Stadium
Image
The Alessandro Belotti Stadium, more commonly known as The National Stadium, is the home venue of the Burikinian National Football Team for both the men's and women's teams. The 102,500-seater stadium, built in the earliest of the 20th century, became a mecca for Burikinian football fans. After several renovations, this stadium could rival any others worldwide, especially when it's filled by Burikinians.

Playstyle
  • Only does long passes if a player goes through the enemy defence; passes to other players are more than often short.
  • Prioritizes speed and stamina. Also need to have a good eye to pierce the opponent's defence.
  • Burikinian players are known for their flair and skills. Everyone in the national team can do complicated trick-based skills. Yes, even the goalkeeper.
  • Burikinians are known for their "Stark Resolve", which means that they will not stop at anything to achieve their desired results. Burikinian players are a deadly combo for this trait; they'll even wholeheartedly play with a broken bone.

Players to watch out for:
Kenjiro TAKANE

This former teenage delinquent enters the World Cup with glory in his eyes and fire in his heart.
His dominant, aggressive, and fierce presence on the field could even rattle the sturdiest of opponents.
He has been a constant showstopper on the national team with his aggressive attacks and incisive passes.
And when he scores? The backline, silent. The opponents, daunted. The supporters, excited. The Burikinians? Triumphed.
His playstyle is a bit rough if compared to other Burikinians, but then again, who cares about some rule when glory awaits?
