Set in March, 2016-the exact date is going to be decided, at least a week in. This thread came from the Washington IC, in which, a little before Super Tuesday, a coup occurred. It was beaten, but this is an alternate universe where it succeeded, and it is a few weeks after that.

Florida is already taken-though I need to contact the person who is holding it at present, as they still lack an app. I am trying to think of something available. It is possible that we could reverse Mexico's gains, have you get the land along the south of the U.S., but I would need to speak to the Co-OPs about that.

The guy who took Hawaii has not returned, nor responded to telegrams, so it is open, if you want it. A small place, but you get a decent military.

The new Union hoped to gain other members from the culturally similar states in the Rockies, and ambitiously renamed themselves as the Rocky Mountain Union, though it will not be so easy. The border states had either joined the California Republic or stayed with the former federal government, and hopefully will be taken in the near future. The Union is run much like the USA, though more conservative, on a smaller scale, and with more local representation. The military is mainly unorganized Militias and the National Guard members that had stayed in the two states once raised.
Territory of country (if new country): Remaining Territory in Idaho and Nevada, along with claims on Montana, Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado
One paragraph history of your character: Originally growing up in Boise, Mark was a straight A student, going to the University of Idaho and graduating with a degree in economics later. Eventually he gained a fondness for politics and ran for the Idaho State Senate though losing by a thousand votes, he managed to gain enough favor with the community over the next several years and won the second election. He was known for promoting infrastructure, education, and industry, and became well known in the gem state. Though when the state seceded and merged with Nevada, the governors of each state didn't run for president, and Idaho governor Butch Otter nominated Mark for president. Even though not all of the votes came in, which Mark felt was unfair, he won the presidency by a small margin.

Formally drafting a document entitled the Articles of Secession , Florida declared itself an independent republic separate from the Union, or what was left of it. Nearly keeping all of the old federal military equipment and such, Florida is one of the military powers in the American Southeast. While the government prefers a diplomatic solution over bloodshed, they will not hesitate to mobilize troops to fight for their fledgling republic.
