Lead evaporates as Electric Eels draw twice
GAUPTVAKHTINSK, PAKHOMIYA – The Kwrpan national team were held scoreless for the first time in qualifying as Eshialand won twice to draw level on points at the top of Group 4.
The first match of the window was a trip to Valentine Z to take on the Valentian Kittens. The Valentian side is notably larger, with the starting lineup averaging a height of approximately 2.4 meters, but the rapid pace of Kwrpan play seemed to catch them off guard. The pride of that play, the overlapping fullback, made its stamp on the game early on as striker Magnws-rym made a darting run inside before slipping the ball to his left, where an onrushing Mamzwb-bab thumped it into the far corner for his first national team goal. The home side would strike back, though, with striker Elisabetta Enzo Hannah Lodovica D'Elia getting on the end of a lofted cross from midfielder Sammie Arif Raihan Bin Mohamamad Andika, heading it over Fakswr-rof into the side netting to level the scores on the stroke of half-time. Little else would happen through the rest of the game, as the Kwrpan remained content with a draw and sending hopeful long-distance efforts, usually well wide of the Valentian goal. The Valentians did muster a late rally, peppering Fakswr-rof's goal in the final few minutes, but the Mist Valley keeper was up to the task to earn a valuable road point for the Electric Eels.
Continuing their road stand was a trip to Pakhomiya, to take on a side that they had defeated 6-3 in the opening match of qualifying at the National Stadium in Tydebwg. A hostile reception greeted the side throughout their visit, as the team was confined to their hotel and quickly escorted out of the country following full time. A hostile but rather unenthusiastic crowd greeted the match in Gauptvakhtinsk, and the game would end up matching that energy, especially with the rotation performed by the Kwrpan side. Striker Vabwpro-pyt, reportedly on the verge of signing a contract with Tikariot side Emerald Coast Raiders, came the closest to breaking the deadlock, hammering a shot from close range that skimmed off the top of the crossbar. Pykpyzwba-nam would claim his second clean sheet in his second national team cap, as the hosts rarely threatened in a game truly and definitively unlike the prior meeting between the sides.
Next up for the Electric Eels is the visit of Juvencus. The Juven have found some form since their home loss to Kwrpania on Matchday 2, though a loss at home to Eshialand on Matchday 9 has left them in 3rd, four points off from the top two. A bumper crowd is expected at the National Stadium for the visit of what is still a high-quality side, and with the Valentians remaining in touching distance a loss could spell real danger for Kwrpania's chances of qualifying for the World Cup. Following this match is a visit to Quakmybush. The hosts were defeated comfortably by the Electric Eels in the first meeting, 2-0 in Bezbenpam, and recent losses to Jeruselem and Eshialand leave them sitting 8th in the table. Both matches, as with all remaining World Cup qualification matches, will be broadcast live on KBN1, with pre-match coverage beginning two hours before kickoff. Meet the Parties: the Coalition
The Kwrpan left has never been organized into a single entity. Liberal democrats, democratic socialists, hardline communists - all have coexisted, separately, within the Kwrpan left, providing an avenue for the dominance of big-tent Homeland in Kwrpan politics. However, a growing youth movement has shifted this balance, and while the left remains split, there is just enough momentum behind it for them to dream of a potentially transformational majority in the Popular Council.

A Kwrpania to be proud of
Our Democracy are the biggest, and most moderate, party of what is increasingly being termed "the Coalition". Advocating for liberal democracy and strengthening of the democratic aspects of the Foundational Laws, the unwritten proto-constitution that forms the foundation of Kwrpan law, Our Democracy is especially popular with the middle-class and in the suburban areas surrounding major cities. The party's leader, Robensw-maspetobdwb-bof, was stabbed in Bezbenpam in the West Province several months ago, in an incident which, due to the government's handling of the resulting investigation, became the spark which lit the flame that brought down the government and caused this election. Naturally, the party have made it expressly clear that they would launch a serious investigation into not only the initial investigation but all Homeland actions over the past several years. The party is also the least radical of the three regarding social reforms, as they see current policies as striking a strong balance between state power and the free market. The spirit of compromise is in the air, however, as Robensw-bof has already ruled out the idea of forming government with right-wing Kwrpan Union or a "grand coalition" with Homeland, especially given the likelihood that Homeland will remain the largest party even if unable to form a government, meaning that they will be dependent on the two other parties if they don't wish for potential negotiations with the regionalist Southern Movement.

We are our own masters
Progress stand further to the left of Our Democracy, standing upon an ideology that can only be described as "Kwrpan socialism". Kwrpan socialism maintains a difficult balance, as it supports collectivism (the ownership of industries, including those currently operating privately, by the state) and an approach to state power over social affairs that can neither be described as "federalism" or "libertarianism", despite taking aspects of both. Their fierce opposition to the recent Law on State Security, especially regarding its provisions regarding the transfer of many police powers from provincial authorities to the national government, have staked their clear claim to this political position, and it can be expected that Progress will continue to push for the transfer of powers not only from the national government to provincial government, but from both governments to the communal societies which operate throughout Kwrpan life (and which will be expounded upon in further detail at a later time).

United Workers are the furthest to the left, and operate in a very similar way to international socialist/communist parties. They have very little appeal in rural or even suburban areas, drawing their strength mainly from the industrial heartland of the North, especially in Sazdobsed on the north coast, with the enormous fisheries and docks providing fertile ground for their message. In contrast to the Kwrpan socialism of Progress, United Workers believe in both collectivism and the power of the state, and have stated their aims towards the full nationalization of Kwrpan industries - something which seems unlikely given polling estimates that see them far short of the amount of seats required for that level of influence. The party has also stated their belief in the expansion of government power, especially that of the national government, and have floated an alternative to the Law on State Security that contains many similar provisions while attempting to remain palatable to their potential coalition partners. United Workers are also unique in having a militant wing, the Friends of the Hammer, though rumors have indicated that right-wing Kwrpan Union are close to forming a similar wing, especially given their recent merger with the far-right New Right party.
Current polling indicates that the three parties will have a minor majority - enough to form a government, but not close to the 80 seats required (of 135) to make alterations to the Foundational Laws.
