NationStates Darts Corporation - Season 1 Everything Thread

NATIONSTATES DARTS CORPORATION
Season 1 Everything Thread

It's time to step onto the oche for the first time in a decade! Yes, more than 10 (OOC) years after New Sideburn's Joshua Groat defeated Eric Bristow of Tobys Great Britain to hoist the Darts World Championship, the sport of darts has returned to crown a new champion - A Multiversal Champion - in a 15 event tour of force stretching from Baggieland to Myrtle Beach and everywhere in between.

This is the Everything Thread for Season 1 of the NationStates Darts Corporation. If you need more information on how this all works, please look at the Interest Thread and the OOC (Formerly Signup) Thread for more information.

To summarize, the NSDC is a tour of events held throughout the multiverse similar to the IRL Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) with a order of merit system based on the results of each player during the touring season. This order of merit will decide who qualifies for the NSDC Matchplay (32 players in a group stage followed by knockout bracket involving only group winners) and the Multiversal Championship (24 players, including all previous event winners) as well as the seedings for the NSDC Open. These 3 events are known as the Major Events, with the Multiversal Championship, considering its status as the biggest event on the calendar, being the season-ending tournament. All other tournaments are known as Regular Events, with all players competing in a straight single-elimination bracket over one to two days ICily.

All events feature legs (Darts terminology for games) featuring first-from-501 rules with doubles required for checking out. All Regular Event matches are best-of-11 legs while the Major Events have their own rulesets. To summarize those:
  • NSDC Open - First and Second Rounds are best-of-11 legs, Third Round onwards are best-of-19 legs
  • NSDC Matchplay - Group stage matches are best-of-11 legs, Quarter-Finals onwards are best-of-31 legs
  • NSDC Multiversal Championship - First Round is best-of-5 sets (Each set ICily being best-of-5 legs), Second Round is best-of-7 sets, etc. up until Final (Best-of-13 sets)

Enough wiff raff, let's get into the meaty information.

All Regular Events will be scorinated in one shot while all Major Events will be scorinated one round at a time (With the exception of the first 4 rounds of the Open, which will be scorinated across two days).

The cutoff window for all events will be between 9:00 and 10:00 PM EST (2:00 and 3:00 AM UTC). It will take a while for the results to be scorinated (Especially with Regular Events) since we are talking about a 64 player field and this is all done with an Excel scorinator! 3rd party scorinators will be needed in case one or more Squidroidians reach the QFs or beyond of any Major Event. If you are willing to scorinate these matches, please give me a TG before the cutoff.

Annnnnnyways, use this Everything Thread to roleplay your nation and/or its darts players. Talk about the nicknames of their players, their walk-on themes, your nation's darting infrastructure, the names of your Regular Events (Or sponsorships of the Major Events if you happened to get a Major Event), the results of your players and anything else you fancy. Your RPs will be converted to a RP bonus that will apply to all of your players and will carry over throughout the entire schedule. Only one RP will be used for each user per cutoff, you can do multiple but only one will count when applying the RP bonus. Good RPs are recommended for a nation to get more RP bonus points and a better chance for their players to climb the Order of Merit and earn spots in the Matchplay and Multiversal Championship. In addition, there is a handy Google Sheet available that will be updated to reflect the Order of Merit standings as well as house all information relating to player nicknames, walk-on themes and event names.

So without further ado... GAME ON!

Kytlerian darts has been an insular sport in a country where every sport was insular for most of the past few decades, and that's allowed it to settle very happily into its own niche - a sport that happily walks the line between serious competition and silly bar pastime, and increasingly appeals to younger men as well as the older male audience it long had. Now, international competition is back, and not only are the Kytlerians part of it, they're hosting the opening event, welcoming thousands of fans to Zube.

64 players enter. Six of them are Kytlerian, and here they are...

THE KYTLERIAN NSDC CONTENDERS

Lashens "The Vephra Viper" Pevonsont
Walk-on music: "Strike of the Viper" by KK's Priest
The reigning Kytlerian national champion is noted for his tendency to switch to 19s on a very regular basis, usually shifting at the slightest blockage of the 60 bed. Despite his nickname and the music/lime green shirt to go with it, he's relatively subdued on stage; he chose the name purely for the alliteration with his Vephra background (a significant Kytlerian minority, particularly in the south, who trace their origins and their distinctive names to the ex-nation of Vephrall whose land is now part of Sabine & Caddonia).

"Wizard" Willem de Bruyne
Walk-on music: "Wizard" by Martin Garrix & Jay Hardway
Probably the most high-variance player of all the Kytlerians, de Bruyne is notable for his speed at the oche, which can sometimes create compounding mistakes but also lets him get into a ferocious flow on his day. Contrary to Pevonsont, he sticks to 20s whenever he can, and he also likes to leave himself double top.

Michael "Maximum Man" Clatchett
Walk-on music: "SerXX" by Barıs Cakır
An imposing figure who always wears black and has recognisable thick-rimmed black glasses, Clatchett often intimidates opponents without even trying. He's a silent assassin at the oche, and with darts in hand is notable for a relatively slow pace and an impressive success rate on doubles.

"The Glass Shatterer" Louise Browning
Walk-on music: "Fleurs du Mal" by Sarah Brightman
Earning her nickname from a combination of her background as a classical soprano and her role breaking the "glass ceiling" in a sport where Kytlerian players have almost always been men, Browning's not the heaviest scorer out there but her biggest strength is her comfort under pressure. If she loses badly, it's assuredly because her opponent played well; if she wins by a landslide, her opponent almost certainly choked.

Johnny "Joker" Stark
Walk-on music: "Keep Warm" by Jinny
Noted for his colourful shirts and dancing entrance, Stark is a fan favourite despite a play style that isn't really notable in any way. He's good enough to compete at the highest level, but that's more from a lack of glaring weaknesses than any big strength. 16s are his favourite double.

George "Double Barrel" Roberts-Hillier
Walk-on music: "Double Barrel" by Dave & Ansel Collins
Roberts-Hillier is a classic "posh northerner" (the northern peninsula being predominantly English and with large areas of wealthy rural villages and small market towns such as his hometown of Lampton) who almost comically leans into that image, happily playing the pantomime villain. Like Pevonsont but to a lesser extent with his penchant for cover shots, he also has a penchant for double 18.

The opening event: The Nullifier Kytlerian Darts Challenge
Presented live from the famed Qizin Studios TV production complex in northern Zube, the Nullifier Kytlerian Darts Challenge represents an exciting season-opening event in front of an appreciative, fun-loving crowd. The combined Studio 1/2 space is big enough for impressive shiny-floor TV shows such as the popular genre-switching singing competition show Change of Tune, but still feels relatively intimate compared to a full-on indoor arena, and is a versatile space with retractable seating and the removable dividing wall that allows for the option - should it be desired - of a two-board setup with one board per studio in the early rounds before removing the wall for maximum one-board capacity in the later stages.

The event's proud title sponsor is Nullifier, an alcohol-free beer "so good you'll feel like a comic book hero." The most popular drink of its kind in the country, Nullifier is seeking expansion to other international markets and see the NSDC opening event as the perfect juxtaposition of pub atmosphere and the sobriety of serious competition.

Squidroidia's Batch - The NSDC Contenders

Darts in Squidroidia
The sport of darts within Squidroidia is one of the popular niche sports - Not big enough to land within the national psyche like football or sepak takraw, but still big enough to land a consistent amount of players and viewers. The sport is operated in Squidroidia by the Squidroidian Darts Company (SDC), a direct successor to the Inkhallan Federation of Darts (IFD) which operated in Inkhalla up until the Apocalypse.

The SDC is an "open" circuit, which means anybody could sign up for an open-class SDC tournament and start earning Order of Merit points, which count for 2 years after the tournament. Besides open-class tournaments, there are also youth-class tournaments (Limited to individuals under the age of 20), pro-class tournaments (Usually limited to the top 64 to 96 players in the Order of Merit; players with lower rankings can also participate via exemptions if not enough qualified players sign up) and female-class tournaments (Reserved for female participants, whether human, Inkling or Octoling, although they can still participate in open-class tournaments and pro-class tournaments if they qualify). The biggest open-class tournament is the Squidroidian Open, where upwards of 800 players participate throughout the course of a week, while the biggest tournament period is the Squidroidian Championship, where the top 24 players on the Order of Merit are joined by specific qualifiers, including the Youth and Women's Champions, for a 32-player tournament at the end of the year, held at the Grizzco Soundstage in Inkopolis, the nation's capital.

The Players
With the introduction of the NSDC, the Squidroidian Darts Company allocated 5 "tour cards" to specific players based on their results at the end of the year. These are:

"Nitro" Tatsuno Naizen
Walk-on Theme: "Show" by Ado
Qualified as SDC Squidroidian Champion and Order of Merit 1st place

Now a three-time Squidroidian Champion, "Nitro" Naizen is still revered by younger fans within Squidroidia for his rapid-fire approach to scoring, even if he doesn't usually hit treble-20s and treble-19s as much as he would want to, especially at the age of 31. Regardless, his blistering pace on the oche means he can spark fear within the minds of whoever faces him, causing them to slip up whether they're slow throwing the darts or if they're throwing them as fast as Naizen. When checking out, don't doubt him on double-17, although double-tops (Double-20) is his second-favorite finish.

"The Slider" Kageyasu Kamata
Walk-on Theme: "I Came To Play" by Downstait
Qualified as SDC Order of Merit 2nd place

Given the nickname he dons because of his previous career flipping burgers, KK didn't reach the Squidroidian Championship final last season to go toe to toe with Naizen, but his results throughout the previous two years (Including a previous SC final in that span) got him enough OoM points to earn a place on the NSDC table. A little bit jittery when he throws the darts, he usually throws from a different position than clean-throwing players to compensate. He doesn't have a favorite finish per say, but when asked he usually goes for double-12.

Zachery "Tops" Zinoviya
Walk-on Theme: "Kickstart My Heart" by Mötley Crüe
Qualified as the top-placing Inkling in the SDC Order of Merit (5th place)

In any given year you could probably put Zinoviya as the best Inkling in the SDC, but the 28 year-old squid from Ichimoto has been on fire, moreso than any other Inkling on the circuit! He became the first Inkling to reach a Squidroidian Championship final at the end of the season just gone but lost to Naizen, although that has not hampered his spirits at all. His darts style usually has him aiming for treble-20s and treble-18s whenever he can, which, along with his favorite finish of double-20, earned him the nickname of... Tops.

"Inksplat" Braeden Yuzuki
Walk-on Theme: "Would I Lie" by KEiiNO & Electric Fields
Qualified as the second-placed Inkling in the SDC Order of Merit (14th place)

Originally known moreso for his football skills at a young age, Yuzuki was cut from the Jawshlands High School team after the manager caught him running late for practice on numerous occasions due to his love for darts. A Youth Championship finalist when he was 19, the now 26 year-old has carried some of his potential on the field to the oche, although he hasn't yet gone to a Squidroidian Championship semi-final. He's the slowest out of the bunch when it comes to throwing the dart, but he makes up for the lack of speed in accuracy, especially around double-11 and double-18 when it's time to finish. Treble-20s for him, however, are a bit weaker than most.

"Cherry Bomb" Mari Orazio
Walk-on Theme: "WOW WAR TONIGHT ~Toki niwa Okose yo Movement~" by Nana Mizuki and Raychell
Qualified as SDC Women's Champion

The 25 year-old female sensation known as Mari Orazio had a SDC season to remember last go-around - She became the first female, regardless of race, to reach the Squidroidian Championship Quarter-Finals, even getting close to taking on Kamata in the Semi-Finals in the process; she lost in the 9th and final set to fail to make even more history. Even discounting that run, Orazio had accolade upon accolade to add to her resume, as she won all but three of the female-class tournaments and the Women's Championship (Her third in a row), as well as reaching the Squidroidian Open Final and winning an open-class event, albeit one where none of the top 20 bothered to show up. Now, however, she has to deal with tougher competition, not like that has stopped Miss Cherry Bomb in the past!

...Yes there's some walk-on music that cuts in in the middle of the song but the SDC does allow it so...

Darts in Baggieland

Darts is technically illegal in Baggieland. For aeons only four sports have been legal in the Imperial Glorious Empire: football, rugby, cricket and Aussie rules football. Tennis was briefly allowed, but after the initial furore died down – nobody plays it anymore – so it's probably just a matter of time when it is declared illegal once more.
Darts, on the other hand, isn't considered a sport, but more of a hobby in order to circumvent the rules. Therefore, you can find a dartboard in just about every pub in Baggieland. Games of "501" and "301" are never played, as that would constitute a sport, so "around the clock" is played in Baggieland's bars. The six players are confident of performing well in the "501" format, as they can count (just).

The Players
"She Who Must be Obeyed" Queen Alma
Walk-on music: The Baggielandian National Anthem
Her Most Gracious Majesty is considered Baggieland's best hope as she can be seen every Tuesday and Sunday, without fail, playing "around the clock" in the Woodman pub. She has never been beaten and has a 100% record, although all Baggies are fearful of her and wouldn't want to get on her wrong side.
"His Nibs" King Alswitch
Walk-on music: The Baggielandian National Anthem
His Most Merciful Majesty, King of all the Beasts in the World and Fishes in the Oceans can also be seen down the Woodman pub, albeit usually at the bar than at the dartboard. His Exalted Highness predicts, "I've been watching the ball and chain throwing her darts, so I've picked up a few useful techniques and I'm confident I'll be able to win a few games."
"The Guru" Beth Rati Pumba
Walk-on music: "Legs" by ZZ Top
Guru Beth Rati Pumba is an all-knowing and all-seeing oracle. In the abyssal heart of the Throstle Mountains lives this sage and you will only be able to find him if your heart is pure. In his spare time, he can be found playing darts at his local pub The Drunken Sailor in the port city of Albion.
"El Chiflado" Vinny Roberts
Walk-on music: "La Voz de Los '80" by Los Prisioneros
Vinny Roberts is Baggieland's No. 1 sports fan. He tirelessly follows the fortunes of all of Baggieland's sporting teams both at home as well as abroad. He is the nation's preeminent expert on all aspects of Baggielandian sport. His knowledge of darts is second-to-none, but can he throw as well as he thinks?
"The Dark Mistress" Lei Siulung
Walk-on music: "The Imperial March" by John Williams
Lei Siulung is The Daily Boing's intrepid sports reporter. Some consider her to be a bit of a journalistic hack, but she can always be relied upon to be the first with the big scoops and gossip in the world of sport. She once led a secret society that was manipulating world financial markets for personal gain until that cabal got taken down by a coalition of righteous Baggies and Gnejsians. But she's not bitter about that. Since then, she has been releasing her anger by throwing darts at the images of those who thwarted her evil plan.
"Bomber" Robson
Walk-on music: "Come On You Baggies" by Real Baggies
'Bomber' Robson is Baggieland's football captain. He got his nickname as he likes to bomb forward from midfield into the opponents' penalty area. When he's not scoring goals for his beloved Baggieland in the Football World Cup, he likes to unwind with a few games of darts.

Name: TJUN-ia
Trigram: TJU
Demonym: TJUN-ian/Jaguar
Nicknames: Jaguars (individual sport)
Governing Body: Darts Corporation of TJUN-ia (DCT)

Darts. Pretty simple to understand really. You go one-on-one with an opponent looking to try and score exactly 501 first, ending at a double because that's in the rules. In pubs and bars across the International Community, many claim to be the best in this sport but only the true best of the best compete in the DCT Tour across TJUN-ia. Now, the DCT has chosen 6 of the best this nation has to offer to take part in the inaugural NSDC campaign...with two events in Peninsula at that. Let's meet the Jaguars who will fly our flag in this individual sport...

DAVID "MASTER" PETERS
Age: 33
Hometown: Newport, NAU Zone
Walk-on Music: Master Hand
The Peters Twins have dominated this sport for a while domestically, claiming 7 of the past 10 TJUN-ian Titles between them. Four belong to Master Peters, the commanding figure who uses his aura to his advantage.

SAMANTHA "VALLIANT" VERDUN
Age: 24
Hometown: La Manche, NAU Zone
Walk-on Music: Barbara Pravi - Voilá
Hailing from La Manche, Valliant Verdun is the best female player in the country and the holder of 2 of the titles the Peters' didn't win. She may only be 24, but her flair and skills with her wrists make her an intimidating opponent for anyone she faces.

"THE PRINCESS OF SEOMUI-DOSI" KIM LI
Age: 18
Hometown: Seomui-dosi, CEA Zone
Walk-on Music: NewJeans - Super Shy
The youngest player on the team, The Princess hails from Seomui-dosi - the "3rd Korean City", as it is jokingly referred to. She romped her way to the semifinals of the last two TJUN-ian Championships and considering her age, the potential is limitless - which is why she's here.

FINLAY "CRAZY" PETERS
Age: 33
Hometown: Newport, NAU Zone
Walk-on Music: Crazy Hand
While Master Peters has 4 titles, Crazy Peters has 3 - but don't let yourself think he is inferior. Unlike his commanding brother, Crazy Peters is a bit of a chaotic person to face, full of intimidation and chest-pumping showmanship that can certainly draw ire. But if it works, it works.

"THE SHARK" FINN OGBERTS
Age: 32
Hometown: Riverside, JB TJUN-ia
Walk-on Music: Battle Against A True Hero
The player with home-region advantage when the NSDC comes to town, The Shark is a player that is as ruthless as he sounds when he steps onto the oche. Ruthless in his checkouts, and ruthless in his points per leg, there is a reason why that final title from the past 10 belongs to him.

URSULA "HER" HUNDERTWASSER
Age: 28
Hometown: Dresden/Drježdźany, NAU Zone
Walk-on Music: Advent: One Winged Angel
She has that music for a reason and while she has no titles to her name, Her HUNDERTWASSER is someone you don't want to be messing with when it comes to these sorts of things. She's a powerful force to be reckoned with and one that will smash the door open if she wanted to.

EVENTS (Rounds 3 and 4)
TJUN-ia is hosting two Regular Events, both before the NSDC Open, and both events will take place at the Genesis Community Centre in Peninsula. The GCC can hold a large variety of indoor sports and you better believe that when the darts are in town, the house is bouncing! Event 3 will be known as the Peninsula Clash while Event 4 will celebrate our new region and will be known as The Esportivan Classic,
1st: ECC4/5, NSSCRA13, RLWC22, IBS20, EBT3, EIHT2, ET20V
2nd: NSCF24/26, ARWC4, WC:TOTS, IBC34, IBS17, RUWC33/35, ECC6, EKT, WCoH52 T20WC18
3rd: ARWC3, IBC32/41, ECC3/7, ARWC6, ET20IV, ECT, RUWC37, WCoH56
NSSCRA - JR
T1: #07 Michael Stefan (S13 T1 Champ)/#64 Alfonso Mercado/#03 Maddison Riley-Jones (S10 T2 Champ)
T2: #96 Alice Jepkosgei/#70 Gongming Gao [NCR]/#79 Axel Chase

WGPO: #11 Lane Carter/ #9 Batu Tüvshinbayar (WGP2 S5 Champion)
NSTT: 4 S-Titles (3 RU)/2 D-Titles (6 RU)

UN - U1
TJUN (Ta-Jun) - An organ of the UN that focuses on "international role-play" (i.e. USA = Fang the Sniper) (U2)
TJUN-ia (Ta-Jun-ee-a) - The testing grounds of TJUN members, but operates as an independent nation. (U3)

NSDC - ROAD TO OUSEVALE
The NSDC's professional tour is nearly ready to get underway, with fifteen events leading to the jewel in the crown - the Multiversal Championship, being held on Krytenian soil at Ousevale's magnificent Spencer Homes Arena. Not all of the professionals will make it, though, with the sixty-four registered players vying for just twenty-four spots at the showpiece event. Let's have a look at Krytenia's "Super Six" - the half-dozen home hopefuls staking a claim for spots in the season finale.

Michael "The Lumberjack" Wood
Age: 30
Hometown: Bromham, East Mercia
Walk-On Music: Rise Up - Yves Larock
Hailing from the Mercian capital, Wood is Krytenia's number one player. Clinical with doubles, and with match averages very rarely under 101, the Lumberjack will be looking to chop down his rivals on his way to the title.

Greg "G-Force" Finisterre
Age: 27
Hometown: Linford, Northwood
Walk-On Music: Can You Feel The Force - The Real Thing
When Finisterre is on a tear, he's nigh-on unplayable. Suffers somewhat though from being a "streaky" player, and if you can get him inside his own head, he might just end up on the wrong end of a spanking. Will need to sort out that mental block if he wants to run deep in competitions.

Andy "Hot Shot" Porter
Age: 22
Hometown: Ousevale, Central Mercia
Walk-On Music: Playing With Fire - Paula Seling & Ovi
Could hit a double sixteen with his eyes closed. Porter's style is as fiery as his nickname, will look to rile opponents up and force them into errors.

Keith "The Warrior" Waghorn
Age: 34
Hometown: Leston, West Mercia
Walk-On Music: Tiny Riot - Sam Ryder
A veteran of the scene, Waghorn refuses to give up even when the odds are stacked against him. May not be one of the more favoured Krytenian players, but will make sure his opponent works for the win.

Ieuan ap Owain "Dragonfire"
Age: 28
Hometown: New Cefn, Druida
Walk-On Music: Do Or Die - Super Furry Animals
Druida's finest, ap Owain favours the cover shot if the first dart goes wayward. Can be outside his comfort zone on more non-standard doubles.

Sancho "El Tirador" Perez
Age: 31
Hometown: Avidia, Avide-Dioro
Walk-On Music: Shot Me Down - David Guetta ft Skylar Grey
Perez' nickname comes from his rapid-fire playing style. Can be a blessing to put pressure on rivals; can also be a curse if he loses his rhythm.
"I revel in the nonsense; it's why I'm in Anaia."

Name: Kimi-Suomi
Trigram: KIM
Demonym: Suomen (all-peoples)
Governing Body: Kimi-Suomi Darts Association (Kimi-Suomen Darts-yhdistys/KSDy)

Yeah, we play darts. I mean, who doesn't after one or two drinks at your local? Kimi-Suomi is sending 4 players to the inaugural NSDC circuit...so let's meet them.

MIKA HÄRKÖNEN
Age: 35
Nickname: Magic Mika
Walk-on Music: Queen - A Kind of Magic
Out of the last 10 domestic titles, 5 belong to this man - an absolute force within our local game. Magic Mika can pull a result out of his arse whenever needed and that ability cannot be understated at all.

ANNA-LEENA PALLASMAA
Age: 28
Nickname: "A.L.P."
Walk-on Music: Beyoncé - CUFF IT
ALP is the best female player on the KSDy circuit, winning 3 of the past 10 titles, and is seen back home as the main contender to challenge Magic Mika. ALP is a Queen who acts like one, stamping her authority on the oche and making any opponent crawl in their skin.

KARL SCHJERFBECK
Age: 21
Nickname: The New Fecker
Walk-on Music: Benjamin Ingrosso - Dance You Off
Called "The New Fecker" on his debut in an Irish Pub, Karl is only 21 but already has a title to his name - the most recent one, in fact. That came as a surprise to those not in the know but once you see him play, you'll get it soon enough.

TOTTE IDESTAM
Age: 24
Nickname: Tick Tock
Walk-on Music: Albina - Tick-Tock
Nicknamed "Tick Tock" because of her quickfire skills with the dart, Totte has the final of our last 10 titles - winning it 3 years ago. She was once seen as a rising star like Schjerfbeck but now is seen more as a prodigy looking to back the hype. Can she do it here? No one knows for sure.

You know us. You love us. But do you know, or indeed love our darts players? Of course you don’t, you’ve never met them! Thankfully, you’re about to meet some of them - and you might even love them. Or hate them, who knows. These are the players, nominated by the BOB (Βδαραικος Οργανισμος Βελων) - Vdaran Darts Organisation - who you’ll see trying to participate in every NSDC-sanctioned tournament.

Markos “The Man” Moustakakos
Walk-on Music: “The Man” by Aloe Blacc
Season Average: 88.81

A familiar face to many World Cup watchers, Markos ended his footballing career as a goalkeeper to manage the Vdaran national team. As it turned out, this allowed him to allocate much more of his time to the finer things in life, such as going down to the pub and playing darts with his friends. Impressively, his precision passing and rapid reaction time has translated into an unforeseen darting prowess, as he aims to become a legend in not one, but two different sports.

Alexandros “Archer” Anthiadis
Walk-on Music: “Rockin’ All Over The World” by Status Quo
Season Average: 90.89

The oldest of the Vdaran cohort, Alexandros has become part of the country’s folklore through his sheer lovability and cheeriness - and he’s not half bad at darts, either. He may be eligible to collect a pension, but it’s titles he’s collected over the years, and it’s titles he continues to aim for. Oh, and doubles. For relatively obvious reasons, he calls himself Archer, and has a cartoony drawing of himself firing a bow and arrow on the back of his shirt, his ‘A.A.A.’ initials just above them. This has led to international commentators referring to him as ‘Treble A’ - but you can call him whatever you want.

Zissis “The One” Siskoglou
Walk-on Music: “This Is The One” by The Stone Roses
Season Average: 91.46

Zissis is absolutely full of himself. Every morning, he wakes up, admires himself in the mirror, and beats his chest in the shower to maintain his impressive physique. Does this make him a bit of an ass? Yes, absolutely. Has he earned the right to be an ass? Also yes. Like him or not, he will give anyone he plays against a very tough time, as many unlucky darters have had to find out.

“Smooth” Vasilios Nicolatsis
Walk-on Music: “Hip To Be Square” by Huey Lewis and the News
Season Average: 90.84

With his name bearing a striking resemblance to everyone’s favourite moisturiser, there was only ever going to be one nickname for Smooth. He likes to tell people that he earned this nickname through his “escapades with the ladies”, but refuses to elaborate when you ask him why he lives on his own. His throw, however, is smooth - having refined it over several years, Vasilios has one of the most aesthetically pleasing throwing actions on the tour, his darts majestically gliding towards the board, nestling more often in the treble 20 than not.

Hristos “Lightweight” Markilis
Walk-on Music: “Ebeneezer Goode” by The Shamen
Season Average: 96.01

There’s a couple of things you need to know about Hristos. Hristos is rather short. Hristos throws remarkably light darts. Hristos also cannot drink more than one glass of beer before getting tipsy. Thus, he was crowned “Lightweight” by his peers, and it stuck. They say that big things come in small packages, though, and Hristos is a shining example of this, regularly hitting ton-plus averages with his tiny but deadly darts.

Kostas “2” Manatos
Walk-on Music: “Pencil Full of Lead” by Paolo Nutini
Season Average: 87.94

Nicknamed for his favourite checkout - well, the only one he can hit after missing all the others - Kostas is lethal on the trebles, consistently scoring over a ton in his first few visits to the board. Unfortunately, that’s where the fun ends. Despite hours upon hours of practice, he simply cannot hit doubles to save his life, and this ultimately leads to his undoing more often than not. Nevertheless, he’s a handy player, and he might be hoping to hit a couple more higher checkouts - what next? Four? Eight? Who knows!

The Tournaments

The Irakleio Informer Vdaran Masters - January 18th 2024
Sponsored by Vdara’s favourite newspaper, the Masters is sure to be a nail-biter, with a notoriously partisan crowd backing each and every Vdaran with drunken chanting galore. The grandly-named event, whilst in itself not being particularly grand, is very handy for getting players used to their surroundings, particularly for the next event on the calendar…

ChaniaBet NSDC Matchplay - January 22-27th 2024
…the Matchplay! Well, the ChaniaBet NSDC Matchplay, to be precise. Being one of the more anticipated events on the tour, the staff at the Arrowsmith Arena will be working night and day to make the place spotless, only for thousands of punters to drench the place in sweat, beer, and possibly tears. Darts is one of the few sports that the Vdaran Gambling Regulatory Commission hasn’t yet touched, and that’s delightful news for the event’s sponsor - ChaniaBet! Offering up decidedly long odds on the home favourites, gamblers are sure to sink their hard-earned euros into some terrible bets. But hey, it’s all in good fun, isn’t it?

KANMER IMPERIAL DARTS TEAM

Image

(Note: All photos were generated with the This Person Does Not Exist website. No real people were harmed during the making of that RP.)

Image

Alexander Shindein

Age: 54
Debut in darts: 18 July 1996
Nickname: "The Boar"
Hometown: Sennen, Principality of Gardwalin
Walk-on theme: Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five - The Message (from 0:54)

Qualified as the winner of Kanmer Imperial Championship 2023

The strongest darts player in the Imperial Team for now, both in darts and physically. The legendary Uladzimir Garmsen himself named Shindein his heir and successor, after Shindein beat him in the 2005 and 2006 Imperial Darts Championship finals, ending Garmsen's impressive winning streak. He is the current Champion of Kanmer, and 7-times champion total (2005, 2006, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2019, 2023)
He got his nickname for his somewhat fierce personality and his massive height and weight (192 cm and 95 kg).

Image

Jan Handorin

Age: 31
Debut in darts: 27 March 2008
Nickname: "Ginger Beast"
Hometown: Alitar, Principality of Alitar
Walk-on theme: Star Pilots - In The Heat Of The Night (from 0:21)

Qualified as the finalist of the Kanmer Imperial Championship 2023

An athlete who rose to the darts glory in the 2010's, winning two Imperial Championships in 2018 and 2020. Probably the main rival of the Alexander Shindein, to whom he lost the last championship.
Handorin recieved his nickname, obliviously, for the color of his hair.

Image

Parfeni Kirlok

Age: 27
Debut in darts: 2 August 2014
Nickname: "Sodarin Dhein"
Hometown: village Gudwan, Principality of Bundihar
Walk-on theme: Bee Gees - Tragedy (from 1:09)

Qualified as the winner of the Imperial Darts Cup 2022/23

Very talented and educated darts player who has two passions in his life - darts and books. He can't live a day without reading, and sometimes prefers books to the darts training. Many people said, that if he solely concentrated on a darts, with his incredible talent he could have been achieve better results then Shindein and maybe Garmsen himself.
He took his nickname in the honor of the outstanding Kanmerin philosopher and writer Zmitser Kirlok, (that was more known under the pseudonym Sodarin Dhein) who also was his namesake.

Image

Pawel Lonedar

Age: 32
Debut in darts: 16 September 2013
Nickname: "The Loner"
Hometown: Alwantar, Principality of Awenir
Walk-on theme: Riton x Nightcrawlers - Friday (Dopamine Re-Edit) (from 0:49)

Qualified as a semi-finalist of the Kanmer Imperial Championship 2023

In the summer day of 2013, Pawel was bored and didn't know, how to entertain himself. Somehow he decided to buy a darts complect and play a few games. Those "few games" are still going...
Lonedar got his nickname thanks to the some similarity of his surname with the English word "loner". The other cause of that nickname was his introverted personality.

Image

Makar Rinsendorin

Age: 37
Debut in darts: 23 November 2002
Nickname: "Rinsen"
Hometown: Dsor, Principality of Winar
Walk-on theme: "Digenis Akritas" by Farya Faraji (from 0:31)

Qualified as a semi-finalist of the Kanmer Imperial Championship 2023

Despite being second most-experienced player in the team, Rinsendorin had a very slow start, failing to advance into the second round of the Championship before 2006, and made his breakthrough only by the end of 2010's. Winner of the Imperial Darts Championships 2017 and 2021.
Interesting fact: in the semifinal of the 2017 Championship he defeated Uladzimir Garmsen. This match became the last official match for the legendary veteran.
Rinsendorin's nickname is just an abbreviation of his surname.

Image

Hallyash Chidka

Age: 19
Debut in darts: 29 June 2020
Nickname: "The Calculator"
Hometown: Kodki, Principality of Kodki
Walk-on theme: Mario Judah - "Die Very Rough" (from 0:31)

Qualified as a finalist of the Imperial Darts Cup 2022/23

A promising young darts player and possible future of the Imperial Darts Team. Chidka got his nickname due to his ability to calculate very well and fast. It definitely helps him in the darts, when it's time to decide to count points and decide, where exactly to throw darts to finish the leg. Only if he could throw well...

ULADZIMIR GARMSEN MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT

On the 1 February 2024, The Empire of Kanmer will host the 9th regular stage of NSDC tour, which would be held in the Imperial Hanidar Hall, which is located in the multifunctional Managmin Sports and Entertainment Complex in the Imperial Capital, Awenir.

This tournament is named in honor of the Uladzimir Garmsen (1950-2023) - probably the strongest darts player in the history of Kanmer. He started to play darts only at the age of 28, but still achieved massive success. Uladzimir "Juggernaut" Garmsen played untill the old age, retiring only in December 2017 at the age of 67 due to declining health. Sadly, on Saturday, 28 October 2023, Garmsen peacefully died at his home in the city of Halitar, aged 73.

Below is the list of the Garmsen's titles and achievements:

25-times Champion of Kanmer (1983, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2013), including 19 consecutive titles from 1986 to 2004.
17-times winner of the Imperial Darts Cup (1981, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1991, 1994, 1995, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2006, 2008, 2011, 2013, 2016, 2017)

THE GLOBAL OCHE

The NationStates Darts Corporation hopes to bring darts back to prominence

It seems like forever ago that darts has received an international tournament. Whilst local tournaments, including those from the Squidroidian Darts Company, are still regularly occurring, an internationally recognized champion hasn't been crowned since the Darts World Championship all those years ago. That will all seem to change soon, however, as the NationStates Darts Corporation is set to begin its first tournament, the Nullifier Kytlerian Darts Challenge from Zube, The Kytler Peninsulae, in just a couple of days. Some darts fans say that the formation of this organization will be just the spark darts just so desperately needed to be known on the international stage.

While the NSDC is headquartered in Squidroidia like the Squidroidian Darts Company, the organization, which seeks to promote darts as a global sport, is in no way affiliated with the local SDC. Instead, upon the organization being formed, the SDC allocated special "Tour Cards", of which there were to be a maximum of 6, to its players based on the Order of Merit and the Squidroidian and Women's Championships from the past season, that would have them registered for NSDC events. Mari Orazio got a hold of the first Tour Card as she won her third consecutive Women's Championship over Sue Kiyashima, while the other 4 were given to players after the Multiversal Championship was finished in Inkopolis. With Tatsuno Naizen having a hold of two of the qualifying slots, only 5 Tour Cards were given out for Squidroidians. Regardless, the Squidroidians in force, who have already arrived in Zube for their preparations, are ecstatic to have this chance.

"I honestly feel like I would get stale if I were to strictly play in the SDC after a while," said "Nitro" Naizen, who has won three Squidroidian Championships, including the most recent one at the Grizzco Soundstage. "I'm good enough to beat everybody in my country, but there's the feeling of international competition that scratches a specific itch for competition that the locals can't provide after a while. The NSDC just feels like the ultimate goal now."

The same longing for international competition has come from Zachery Zinoviya, currently the best Inkling in the SDC, losing to Naizen in the Squidroidian Championship Final but earning enough Order of Merit points to finish in the top 5 and solidify his NSDC Told Card. "It's darts against people who you don't see every day, it's darts against those with their own techniques, their own playstyles, their own swagger, whether it's from Krytenia or Kimi-Suomi, and that's appreciated, especially since... Wait, who was the previous best darts player in the multiverse?" Despite not knowing who Joshua Groat is, his main goal is to make it to Ousevale for the Multiversal Championship, however long it may take.

The NSDC, as a separate tour from the SDC and other national organizations, still allows its players to play in their national circuits in conjunction with the NSDC, a similar approach to the IFCF and the domestic leagues in football. As such, the SDC's Tour Card players will have to maintain a traveling schedule, going back to Squidroidia the SDC events they signed up for before flying back to the upcoming NSDC event. Such a travel schedule isn't really an issue for Kageyasu Kamata, although "The Slider" understands how it may be seen as a bad thing for participants. "You're traveling multiple times to and from your home nation in order to compete against the very best, after a while it can eat up at you mentally and cause you to flounder on the national tour, the NSDC or both. I know that stress happens, we've seen it in many other sports but the international advancement for darts is a massive positive that will outweigh the negatives."

While the draw hasn't been released for the Nullifier Kytlerian Darts Challenge, it is expected to be an "open draw" - Whoever gets drawn first will get to throw first for the first leg of the match, while the player who's drawn second will throw second, and so on and so forth. Future Regular Event tournaments will be seeded by the results from the previous Regular Event, with tied positions decided by a random draw. Essentially, the farther you go in Zube, the better your seeding for Yongan, the second event on the calendar.

As for how far the Squidroidians want to go, Braeden Yuzuki, otherwise known as "Inksplat", is guessing for himself. "For me, I just want to make it to the last 16 at least, although winning one match would still be fine. Even though I'm 14th in Squidroidia, an international stage is quite the reset. Let's just hope it's the good kind and not one that would have me struggling against a postman."

Postby Valentine Z » Thu Dec 07, 2023 1:53 pm

Part 0 – Valentine Z presents… The Flurried Four? Team name pending.

It’s no stranger that for a two-planet power (as of the time of this writing), Valentine Z would also have a dart scene along with many other sports. The very first season of international and interdimensional darts that they got into, the four Valentians that volunteered into the foray was more than grateful for the opportunity. All of them have a varying degree of skills and experience needed for darts, and of course, for this, they decided to shrink themselves a little bit – enough so that they would not be too tall and big for the sports and needing too much special arrangements, while also wanting to show off that Valentian height to the rest. Without further ado, they dart into the fray!

Major Layla Jamie Stefanie Symmantra Evangeline Jaiden Autumn Celeste Jane Justine Emma “Shen, The Bringer of Light” Samara Kaitlinn Char Madelief Kat Mvst Astrella Janice Lim Tian Zhi, also known by her short name as Layla Jamie Evangeline Lim Tian Zhi, has a nickname “Lightbringer”, not necessarily out of whatever holy order that she might have been participating under. Instead, the name came from the fact that she has engineered and developed light and energy-based weapons that she uses herself in the times of need, such as when Valentine Z is under attack and her skills are in need. With backgrounds in physics involving solidified light, paired with her passion and love for archery, Layla is a force to be reckoned with as she unleashes a flurry of arrows, with a quiver having more than enough arrows to last a hundred battles. Her theme song is a classical piece, performed by Wu Leyi in 1959. Girls Picking Tea Leaves and Catching Butterflies 采茶扑蝶, it is depicted by the Valentians as a powerful piece that, could make a good arrow-flinging theme. Layla’s 116 years old, with the looks of a 31 year old’s.

2nd Commander Carissa Beatrice Amanda Sammi Astriella C. N. Dawn “Tere Toa” Schlechter Mavis Trina Arona Harriet Bonnie Zaira Adaline Eliana Sophia Diamond Isobel Rena Jolana Natana, known by her shorter name Carissa Beatrice Sam Trina Arona Jolana, is a bit of an oddball when it comes to archery and darts. First and foremost, she is not exactly a person that would use ranged weapons when it comes to her time in The Sixty, along with when defending Valentine Z during the defensive wars or battles. With all the strength that she can muster and train up, she uses large melee weapons with utmost and terrifying efficiency, earning her the nickname “Bonebreaker”. Of course, for the international sports community, Carissa has been given numerous praises and vouches that she is not someone to be unnecessarily afraid of, for she is a kind and gentle soul for those who are simply doing sports with her. On top of that, she has various hobbies such as sailing, swimming, and darts, the last of which she would spend honing her skills in various clubs around New Zealand, and eventually rising up to the ranks in the domestic leagues and seasons of darts. Her opening song is from a game known as Path of Exile, one that is not from Valentine Z but from the other worlds. Sentinel, by Kamil Orman-Janowski. Carissa is 113 years old, but physically 25.

Aldric Hampton Zakwan al-Ghumari, “Hatchet”, a Moroccan man 38 years of age, also has quite an experience when it comes to domestic darts league in Valentine Z. Perhaps at first, it is a bit unusual that the darts in Morocco are popular in the first place, but thanks to the Valentian movement of people and culture as it has been mentioned a couple of times, it’s no stranger that darts also have quite a following and participation in the country. Aldric’s first hand with international sports was in World Cup, whereby he figured he could get into the sports after playing for a few more years and then getting into the future seasons. However, with Valentine Z getting into darts for the first season, he picked up the sports quite quickly enough. Not only was he happy to represent the Valentians, he would be looking forward to go around multiple worlds for culinary tourism. Mohamed Rwicha’s Kindir Hta Nensak.

Clara Eliza Olive Maja Pisani, a Maltese woman 31 years of age. With the nickname “Arrow Artist”, Clara is a capable dart player, on top of being a lithographer for many of the Valentian news agencies and outlets. Her artwork, mostly made through paintings on a physical medium, are described as “Careful and slow, with occasional faster strokes to express her calm but excitable demeanour.” She also translates this into darts, playing the game in her free time with her bar hopping friends. With a few years of experience, along with encouragement from her other friends, she decided to go ahead with joining more and more domestic events and competitions, and then ending up quite nicely in the Valentian Hall of Fame for darts. She has a song that she loves very much, so much so that she decided to make it a theme song for her entrance. Kelinu’s Zaren il-Fulfol would play as she enters the scene.

At 1.00x, their heights are of the following:
Layla Jamie Evangeline Lim Tian Zhi – 237.91 cm
Carissa Beatrice Sam Trina Arona Jolana – 262.89 cm
Aldric Hampton Zakwan al-Ghumari – 245.57 cm
Clara Eliza Olive Maja Pisani – 233.31 cm
If you are reading my sig, I want you to have the best day so far ! You are worth it, do not let anyone get you down !
Glory to De Geweldige Sierlijke Katachtige Utopia en Zijne Autonome Machten ov Valentine Z !

The article below is a draft version of the Kytlerian tourism article submitted to the Inkopolis Times.

"The Kytler Peninsulae: A Hidden Gem"
After decades of isolation, this Rushmori nation now offers a warm welcome

Amidst the numerous nations in the Rushmore region known across the multiverse for thriving in international sports, The Kytler Peninsulae is perhaps best known as the one that hid away. A long-standing moral panic over performance-enhancing drugs, combined with the economic toll of hosting the Games of the IX Olympiad, saw a proud sporting nation become one that refused to enter international competitions - with a couple of short-lived exceptions - for multiple generations. A recent change of government - notably, to one led by a former top soccer manager in Clituleng Giisost - bought what is promised to be a decisive end to what was known locally as simply "the isolation" and opened the country's arms to outsiders again.

There's been quite a lot they've been missing. One of the smaller countries in Rushmore, The Kytler Peninsulae often feels larger than it is given its geographical diversity on both physical and human levels. Shaped by multiple waves of migration - including from the already-diverse island of Vircais - and with a landscape featuring but not limited to an extensive and highly changeable coastline, there is variation between areas in a way few expect in a country this size. It is a land of fascinating contradictions.

Even the name is arguably one of them. While the country is named after the strips of land that just westward from the edge of the Pavolan continent - making this an ideal hub for a multi-national Rushmori trip given its location firmly in the middle of the region - the majority of the 22 million Kytlerians don't actually live on the peninsulae, but close to the border with Græntfjall in a densely populated area known as the Eastern Corridor. While the definition of this area has changed over the years as the country's border shifted with its neighbours, the historic region is bookended by Kytler Bay City and the capital Zube (pronounced "ZOO-buh"), which combined to host those Olympics in what was then a historic co-hosting agreement. The two are linked by a maglev line that covers the near-50km distance between the centers of each in under 20 minutes, making it trivial to combine both into one visit - and it is thoroughly recommended that you do, as both have their own distinct character.

Some of Zube's can be gauged simply by flying into Zube International Airport, the nation's main aviation hub. Planned from scratch as the purpose-built capital of a modern nation fresh from a complex civil war, all of its surfaces - roads, sidewalks, roofs - are white or pale gray. Intended as a means of reducing the urban heat island effect (although the Kytlerian climate is relatively benign), it has the effect of making the city stand out all the more from the air, earning it the nickname "Snowflake City." With under a million people, it feels relatively human-scale for a capital city, and it is straightforward to use the railways and the ZUR metro to travel to various suburban destinations. The Donaldson Olympic Park is a must-see, if only for the distinctive Olympic Stadium at its heart; the upper tiers seem almost to float in mid-air from certain angles, held up around each bend of the athletics track only by a series of pillars that are a renowned Kytlerian national landmark. At the recent West Pavola Rally, cars literally jumped into the stadium between two of these pillars, making for some of the most memorable images of the entire WSRC rallying season.

Kytler Bay City - locally known as simply "Bay City" - is the original and still most populous urban hub of the country, a sheltered port where the explorer James Kytler (after whom the bay, city, and later country were named) first discovered Pavola several centuries ago. Its colonial redbrick buildings offer a dramatic contrast from Zube's streets of glass and pale concrete, with many converted dock buildings providing the cultural heart of a city filled with an array of human communities of numerous backgrounds. One of these docks, Carva Dock to the south of downtown, formed Bay City's Olympic Park; the Aquatics Centre, with an enormous LED array on its surface, remains the city's most striking modern building, while the Olympic Village that juts out into Kytler Bay has become a thriving "city within a city" offering appealing walks with water views in almost every direction.

Exploring the peninsulae themselves offers visitors a diversity of places to explore that belies the country's small area. The long coastline is the obvious place to start; the stark, windswept northern coast offers wild waves from the Komodo Channel, while other coasts are calmer and have a number of enjoyable small coastal resorts (notably Ceuran on the south coast, well-known for its clubbing scene). Inland, the northern peninsula has a bucolic landscape of rolling chalk hills dotted with pleasant villages and small towns, while the south has a harder-edged landscape with the rugged beauty of Mount Endor an obvious standout. On both peninsulae, the undulating rural roads are often home to enthusiastic cyclists; the Kytlerians have a long and proud competitive cycling tradition both on the road and in the velodrome, and the annual Kytlerian Big Weekend three-day race is an annual highlight worth travelling to see.

The joy of a Kytlerian visit is just how many different experiences you can have in a relatively small area, making it a country that is highly enjoyable to explore large parts of in one visit. With the country's nascent return to sporting prominence, arguably the best-kept secret in Rushmore is out.

This is an interview that Kageyasu Kamata conducted with SBN Sport, the sporting arm of the national public service broadcaster SBN, shortly after his loss in the final of the Nullifier Kytlerian Darts Challenge.

Kageyasu Kamata played what could be seen as a role within darts history that nobody seemed to want within the confines of the Qizin Studios in Zube, The Kytler Peninsulae. He had the distinction to appear in the first ever NSDC final at the Nullifier Kytlerian Darts Challenge, the first Regular Event of the season, having gone through thick, thin and a couple of checkout misses just to reach the final match of the historic tournament. It was just a shame he didn't really set out to do what he wanted to do to Tatsuno Naizen at last season's Squidroidian Championship final, losing to Kanmer's Makar Rinsendorin on the final leg to be denied the first NSDC event title and a guaranteed berth to the Multiversal Championship in Ousevale. Despite being a little bitter in the immediate aftermath of his fumbled double 18 that could've won him the title, The Slider didn't throw shade on Rinsen after he lifted his prize. Just before he was set to take off to Yongan in The Sherpa Empire, SBN Sport had a sit-down with the Squidroidian superstar.

Zube was your first time playing darts outside of Squidroidia and the first time you've played meaningful competition against international opponents. How did you feel when you made your first walkout?

"There's always a first time for everything I suppose. When I walked towards that oche to face Jesse Campbell in the first round it felt like I had suddenly thrust myself into a new world. A popular saying when I grew up is that you get a little frightened and confused whenever you start something new, and that threw me off right away. It took me all 11 legs just to beat Campbell as I climatized to my new surroundings, but eventually I got it done and I felt just that bit more confident heading to the rest of the tournament. Some people call it facing your fears, I sometimes call it the first shift rule."

When was the moment where you thought like you could be one of the best darting players in the multiverse? I mean surely it had to be somewhere in the tournament in Zube, right?

"That had to be beating Smooth Vasilios in the last 16. I came off of beating El Chifaldo in the last 32, he beat Nitro Naizen convincingly before ending Guoqiang Li in a barnburner that burned fast. Have you seen his throwing arm? That's the arm I wish I had, but I had the patience in that matchup, although for a couple moments I thought he was going to win and face whoever won Lei Siulung versus Queen Alma. That's the thing about darts, you can be as smooth as butter or as choppy as the sea, but how you guide through it eventually determines if you win or lose. Fair play to him though, he's gonna be tough to beat throughout the season.

Just looking at the last 8 at Zube, do you think that darts has found the global appeal its needed?

"I'm not exactly sure but it's sure as hell to be a start. You look at the last 8 and you get me, a Baggie, 2 Kanmer showstoppers, 2 homeboys and two people from Kimi-Suomi. I didn't have Karl make the Semi-Final and I think nobody had when I had a look at the forums after the tournament. They thought it mostly would be the hosts and a couple of wildcards, instead you get Mika Härkönen in the first ever last 8 of an NSDC tournament. I would love to see completely new faces appear in the last 8s of the next tournaments but you know what they say about the odds, right? You can't have everything you want. But yes, the NSDC is definitely working towards that global appeal people want, even if it isn't coming right away.

Finally the big one - After missing double 18, how did you feel right in the moment?

"...I just felt pain to be honest. Mental of course, but it was small but hard. This was a chance to solidify myself as a history maker and I did it in the wrong way in the final leg of the tournament. After Rinsen got his checkout though it vanished, almost like a ghost in some way. I was shaking his hand and congratulating it and it felt like I forgot that miss even happened. By the way, Kanmer definitely looks like a great darting nation when it comes to its culture, I think Rinsen's not done with Zube and he will challenge for more titles. Out of the entire squad for them though, come Ousevale I think Handorin's going to make it the farthest. But again, that's like guessing the exact amount of beans in a jar, it's freaky if it happens."

Darts Checkup I

Postby TJUN-ia » Tue Dec 12, 2023 7:29 am

Hello, and welcome to the Darts Checkup - your No.1 source for all things TJUN-ian Darts, the DCT Tour and, from right now, the NSDC. Six of TJUN-ia's finest are now the holders of a NSDC Tour Card and as such, they will compete over the next few months to try and become the first ever Darts World Champion in 10 years. With some massive events on the horizon, let's see how everyone did in the opening week - the The Nullifier Kytlerian Darts Challenge live from Qizin Studios in Zube, The Kytler Peninsulae.

Ursula Hundertwasser
In a competition that saw the rest of our players fall in the 1st Round, it would be Her Hundertwasser who ended up as the only competitor to actually win a match...two, in fact. She managed to take down Pawel Lonedar 6-4 and Ieuan ap Owain 6-2 but was eventually taken down in the Ro16 by local George Roberts-Hillier. Two points is two points in terms of the OoM and with that in mind, she will certainly take that.

Everyone Else
Everyone Else fell at the first hurdle, which sucks but what can you do huh?
- Kim Li, The Princess of Seomui-dosi, lost to eventual semi-finalist Hallyash Chidka, so at least she has an excuse for the 4-6 loss.
- David Peters, Master Peters himself, got 6-4'd by Clarissa Beatrice Sam Trina Arona Jolana of Valentine Z...who also fell to Chidka in the Round of 16.
- Samantha Verdun, Vaillant Verdun, lost 6-3 to Jamling Gogoi, who then got swept in the next round (ouch).
- Finlay Peters, Crazy Peters, lost 6-3 to "The New Fecker" Karl Schjerfbeck of Kimi-Suomi...but at least the Swede made it all the way to the Semifinals.
- And finally, "The Shark" Finn Orgberts suffered the worst fate - getting swept by Guru Beth Rati Pumba, who then lost to Schjerfbeck in the Round of 16. All of their efforts mean they start with nil points...but they still have plenty of time to get things right.

It's onwards to The Sherpa Empire for the next event, Yongan to be precise, as everyone looks to try and join Makar Rinsendorin in the Winner's Club. It's a long road ahead of us but please, do join us next time!

Darts I

Postby Kimi-Suomi » Tue Dec 12, 2023 11:39 am

Welcome to the NSDC era...whatever that means. Kimi-Suomi have 4 players with Tour Cards so let's see what they do with them. We're kicking off with The Nullifier Kytlerian Darts Challenge in The Kytler Peninsulae so...let's see how we did.

Karl Schjerfbeck
Holy fuck, did The New Fecker turn up on his NSDC debut. Karl Schjerfbeck is the youngest member of the 4-person selection KSDy opted to go for, but he didn't look out of place all week, which certainly showed. Finlay Peters? Dealt with 6-3. Sancho Perez? Bested 6-4. Guru Beth Rati Pumba? A tight one, but a 6-5. Willem de Bruyne? 6-4 against one of the locals. Only Makar Rinsendorin, the eventual event winner, could take him down with a 6-3...and that certainly spoke volumes. Finishing Top 4 on debut certainly does wonders for your Order of Merit and many back here will be hoping he can keep this up.

Mika Härkönen
But don't forget about Magic Mika either. Mika Härkönen, one of the GOATs of our domestic scene, also had a good week as he made it to the Quarterfinals. Lashens Pevonsont was dealt with 6-1, Michael Clatchett was bested in a last-leg decider and so was former goalkeeper Markos Moustakakos. The player who finally took him out? Makar Rinsendorin, once again by 6-3...meaning the winner completed both of our best results here in Zube. 3 points for the OoM and Magic Mika is up and running.

Everyone Else
The other two players went out at the first hurdle, just like five of JYK-inen's players.
- Totte Idestam, Tick Tock, got beaten 6-3 by the previously mentioned Sancho Perez, who fell to The New Fecker in the next round.
- Anna-Leena Pallasmaa, ALP, lost 6-1 to Parfeni Kirlok, who also fell in the Ro32.
Both will start with zero points to their name, but we still have a long way to go.

One down, 11 to go. See you next time in The Sherpa Empire.

It was perhaps fitting that the Squidroidian veteran Tatsuno Naizen should be the first to walk into the Qizin Studios with his music choice (a fun J-Pop number) blaring over the speakers. (This studio has heard some interesting music in its time staging six seasons of the hit show Change of Tune, in which performers from one genre are challenged to sing in another, but the variety of sounds on display this week was truly something else.) After all, the creation of the NationStates Darts Corporation has been spearheaded by Squidroidia, where darts is one of the biggest niche sports in the country. After Vdaran competitor "Smooth" Vasilios Nicolatsis emerged to a completely different and far older sound, veteran Kytlerian referee Dennis Sharpe took staggering pleasure in announcing to all and sundry that it was "GAME ON!" in the Nullifier Kytlerian Darts Challenge, and by extension the new era of international darts. How appropriate that this sport's return from a long period of international isolation could take place in this country, one that was in the early stages of its own post-isolation era.

The Kytlerian crowd were ideal for the occasion - here for the darts fun first and to cheer their compatriots second, bouncing along to seemingly every song, many in fancy dress and/or brandishing rubber chickens. That's not to say they didn't give George "Double Barrel" Roberts-Hillier a heck of a reception, turnig his walk-on music into a gigantic chantalong, "I am W-oh-oh-oh" responded to with a gigantic "WOOO!". In the domestic scene Roberts-Hillier is actually a pantomime villain of sorts given his wealthy background (and a surname that reflects this, and the way he leans into the connotations by literally using "Double Barrel" as his damn nickname and a song of that name as his walk-on music); in this environment, everyone was on at least some level with him. Myrtle Beach's Kenneth Harrison looked shaken and averaged under 80 in a 6-0 sweep, and the venue was bouncing.

Three more of the Kytlerian contingent would advance through the opening round - though much-tipped "Vephra Viper" Lashens Pevonsont wasn't one of them, defanged 6-1 by eventual quarter-finalist Mika Härkönen of Kimi-Suomi - and while two of the four Kytlerian survivors would fall in the next round (the trailblazing Louise Browning 6-1 to a stunning performance from one of the Valentine Z mega-named mega-talents, Michael Clatchett 6-5 to Härkönen in a barnstormer), both Roberts-Hillier and Willem de Bruyne would win their octofinals with impressive performances and the hype train was truly rolling.

That would be as far as either went, though, as Roberts-Hillier fell 6-2 to Kannerian Hallyash Chidka and de Bruyne 6-4 to another Kimi-Suomi competitor in Karl Schjerfbeck. But this was still a qualified success for Kytlerian darts on a playing level, and an unqualified one on the broader level of getting Kytlerians into darts - not to mention the rest of the multiverse. The final was fittingly a 6-5 thriller, Kanneria's Makar Rinsendorin prevailing after Squidroidian Kageyasu Kamata missed a match dart on double 18. It was with unusual sincerity for this sort of speech that Nullifier marketing director Jón Markusson said at the prizegiving that "this was a truly special event to be a part of, and the best investment we could possibly have made as a company."

Then he unleashed one final delightful moment to cap a tournament full of them. "Darts is back baby. It's good again. AWOUUUU!"

THE ROAD TO OUSEVALE
Leg 1: Zube

It's official, the Road to Ousevale is underway after the inaugural NSDC Tour event in the Kytlerian city of Zube. For the Krytenian contingent, at least, the Nullifier Kytlerian Darts Challenge lived up to the first word of its name as none of our nation's players made it past the second round.

Chief among those humbled at the opening bell was Krytenian number one, Michael Wood. The Lumberjack was not only felled but sent through the chipper. Two missed darts at double sixteen in the opening leg set the tone as the Bromham native melted under the lights. Zissis Siskoglou, Vdara's number one narcissist, was in no mood to have pity on Wood, advancing with a crushing six-nothing victory. Andy Porter, meanwhile, was unlucky to got on the wrong end of a couple of legs against literal darting royalty in the form of Baggieland's Queen Alma, also departing in round one.

With four dartists in the round of thirty-two, you'd have hoped that someone would have made it a step further, but it wasn't to be. Keith Waghorn's "Warrior" tag was made laughable with a chastising defeat at the hands of home competitor Willem de Bruyne, the improbably-named Valentinian Clarissa Beatrice Sam Trina Arona Jolana dealt with Greg Finisterre and Ieuan ap Owain was never in the game against TJUN-ia's Ursula Hundertwasser. Only Sancho Perez made a dent, going 3-1 up in short order against Kimi-Suomi's Karl Schjerfbeck; however the youngster kept his composure to overturn the deficit, losing only one further leg to defeat El Tirador.

One person, however, will be very proud of their performance at the Qizin Studios. That person is Makar Rinsendorin of Kannap, who overcame Squidroidia's Kageyasu Kamata in a back and forth contest that went the full eleven legs. Victory not only meant the first honours of the season, but also a guaranteed place in February's finale at the Spencer Homes Arena. For everyone else, it's back to the drawing board as the treble ring circus rolls on to Yongan. Game on!

Daily Boing Interview

Image

Lei Siulung: "Yes, it had to happen. The world's greatest sports reporter has landed an exclusive interview with none other than the queen of darts; Queen Alma. Your Most Sincere Majesty, thank you for your time and presence in this humble interview."

Queen Alma: "Get on with it, I want to get down the boozer to drown my sorrows!"

Lei Siulung: "First of all, what are the reflections on your own personal achievement in the NSDC Regular Event held in The Sherpa Empire?"

Queen Alma: "I keep getting knocked out by other fucking Baggies! First, it was you, sports reporter. Then this time, it was Bomber Robson."

Lei Siulung: "Yet before this darts season began, you had everyone believing that you were the best darts player in the whole of Baggieland, if not the multiverse. A 100% record you kept on going on about. Yet, let's be honest here, you're pretty shite, aren't you? It was only the threat of putting people in The Tower that helped you to win all those games back home."

Queen Alma: "And I can still put people there, especially if they keep asking me dumb questions!"

Lei Siulung: "So… umm… who do you think is Baggieland's best hope of winning one of these events?"

Queen Alma: "That's a leading question if ever I heard one!"

Lei Siulung: "Go on… say it."

Queen Alma: "It's probably going to be you!"

Lei Siulung: "Yes! Well, there you have it folks, straight from the horse's mouth. Yours truly will be looking to go at least one better at the next event and progress further than the quarter-finals."

Kageyasu Kamata reaches second straight NSDC final, loses once more to Rinsen

The Bhandari Center in Yongan, The Sherpa Empire played host to a replay of the first NSDC Regular Event Final. The Slider vs Rinsen was a matchup that many had already seen in the Final of the The Nullifier Kytlerian Darts Challenge in Zube, with Makar Rinsendorin of Kanmer getting the better of the second-best Squidroidian in the SDC and who many already think is Squidroidia's best shot once Ousevale rolls around in Kageyasu Kamata. Like last time, Rinsendorin took control of the match and won the title, but unlike Zube he did it much more convincingly - 6 legs to 2. While it wasn't exactly Kamata's alarm clock going off, it was a little bit of the same thing repeated, something he knew was bound to happen.

In an interview with Squidroidian darts publication Ink Shot Darts, Kamata walked everyone through how he felt when he got to face Rinsen for the potential revenge of that first NSDC event. "As soon as Rinsen got past Parfeni Kirlok, I was kinda rolling my eyes a bit backstage. I was still practicing for my match against [Hallyash] Chidka and when Makar got the game shot match I was like "Again? You have got to be kidding me!" On second thought I knew it was going to happen, he's one of the best players in a super competitive domestic scene coming off of winning the first ever NSDC event and I feel bad about putting disrespect on Rinsen's name."

Kamata, having earned the second seed after his runners-up performance in Zube, had easily coasted through the field up until the Final - He defeated Braeden Yuzuki, Krytenia's Ieuan ap Owain and Vdara's Zissis Siskoglou 6-3, 6-2 and 6-4 in the first three rounds, following it up with defeating "Double Barrel" George Roberts-Hillier 6-1 in the Quarters and a 6-3 Semis win over "The Calculator" himself Hallyash Chidka to book himself into the Final. "NSDC's Regular Event seeding procedures did benefit me, yes, but at the same time I understand that darts has a madness and a method to it - The madness of two people throwing their darts on the board and the method of the best coming out on top most of the time. Hence why I ended up facing Rinsen again in the Final.

What's next in the NSDC? A double-header of events will be held at the Genesis Community Centre in Peninsula, TJUN-ia, known as the Peninsula Clash and Esportivan Classic, before the first Major Event of the season, the NSDC Open, is held in Myrtle Beach. "I know that a top-16 spot and a bye to the Third Round is basically assured, but I still do need that match sharpness heading into Myrtle Beach so I don't flunk out early. TJUN-ia is expected to be another hot crowd and knowing how well the Peters brothers can be on their day, I'm gonna have to fear facing them."

Darts Checkup II

Postby TJUN-ia » Tue Dec 19, 2023 3:39 pm

Hello, and welcome to the Darts Checkup - your No.1 source for all things TJUN-ian Darts, the DCT Tour and the NSDC Tour. Season 1 started poorly for TJUN-ia's representatives as only 1 of the 6 flying our flag managed to win a game on debut. Usually, you would say something like "things will only get better from here" but considering everyone on this whole Tour was making their debut, no one knows whether performances were flukes or true reflections. The 2nd event of this tour, here at the Bhandari Center in Yongan in The Sherpa Empire, would answer a few of those questions...but how would our players do?

Ursula Hundertwasser and Finlay Peters
To the delight of everyone, more than one entrant managed to win a game this time. This time, two players managed to make it to the Round of 16 and at least that's an improvement, right?
- Her Hundertwasser kept up her good form, taking down Johnny Stark 6-5 in a tight one and Greg Finisterre 6-4, before Lei Siulung dealt the killing blow 6-3. Now ranked #12 on OoM, she'll be hoping to keep it up for the home double-header.
- Crazy Peters broke through here in Sherpaland and that was certainly nice to see. He took down Vasilios Nicolatsis 6-3 and Louise Browning 6-4 before he fell 6-1 to the early doors dominant force Makar Rinsendorin (yes, he won again). Now he's on the board at least!

Everyone Else
But for everyone else who flies our Orange and Blue, it was another one-and-done for them.
- Master Peters got embarrassed 6-1 by Vinny Roberts, who would fall in the next round.
- Valliant Verdun took her match to the wire, but she fell 6-5 to Parfeni Kirlok in a final leg decider - a player who, to be fair, would go on to make the Semifinals. Just caught the wrong player at the wrong event, that's all.
- The Shark lost in a decider to Alexander Shindein, who fell in the next round.
- The Princess of Seomui-dosi lost 6-2 to Jan Handorin, who also lost in the next round.

Not exactly the best start, but we have to build off something after all. Up next is the Doubleheader at the GCC...and we hope to excite there!

Darts II

Postby Kimi-Suomi » Tue Dec 19, 2023 4:02 pm

The Opening Event was nice to Kimi-Suomi...but could we keep it up? The Bhandari Center in The Sherpa Empire would be where we found the answer to that question...so let's see.

Mika Härkönen vs Anna-Leena Pallasmaa
Magic Mika took down Kevin Kahllund 6-2 with relative ease. ALP knocked off Kostas Manatos 6-5 in a decider. These two matchups in Round 1 would lead to the first-ever All-Suomen matchup in Round 2, an opportunity to showcase our collective strengths to the rest of the world. Considering his exploits last time, the local bookies favoured Härkönen and he managed to take a 2-1 lead into the interval, but it would be Pallasmaa that stamped her authority from here on out to win this duel 6-3. She would go on to lose in a decider to Guru Beth Rati Pumba, getting herself 2 points on OoM, while Mika had to settle for 1 and 4 in total.

Everyone Else
The other two actually managed to win a game as well, meaning all 4 of our players made it to Round 2 - which has to be good for something, right?
- The New Fecker, who went farthest out of everyone last time out, beat Andy Porter 6-4 before falling 6-4 to eventual semifinalist Parfeni Kirlok. That means only 5 points for Karl Schjerfbeck overall, but 6th overall isn't too bad at all.
- As for Tick Tock, Totte Idestam finally got on the board by beating King Alswitch 6-4 before local Guoqiang Li ended her run 6-3.

Not bad at all, huh? The next two events are in Peninsula in JYK-inen, so that should be interesting. See you at the GCC!
