Hussija Celebrates 128th National Day with Unity and Reflection
by Jakob Pospíšil
Saterday, 23th September 2023

After celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Hussijan Revolution, the People's Republic of Hussija today commemorates its 128th National Day with a sense of unity, reflection, and pride. This significant occasion holds a double historical significance as it marks both the adoption of the republican constitution of 1894 and the proclamation of the People's Republic of Hussija in 1975.

The heart of the day's celebrations took place in the capital city of Nová Praha, where citizens, government officials, and honoured guests gathered at Great Jan Hus Cathedral for a special Mass. This solemn and uplifting ceremony was presided over by Father Tomáš Havel, who delivered a poignant sermon highlighting the country's historical journey towards unity and prosperity. In his address, Father Havel emphasized the importance of unity, peace, and the shared values that have shaped the nation over the years. He praised the resilience of the Hussijan people, who have faced challenges with unwavering determination and commitment to their nation's ideals.

Following the Mass, a colourful parade featuring cultural displays, traditional costumes, and vibrant music filled the streets of Nová Praha. The parade showcased the rich diversity of Hussijan culture, with participants from different provinces proudly displaying their heritage. The Hussijan National Day is a time for reflection, not only on the nation's historical achievements but also on the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. It serves as a reminder of the principles of democracy, equality, and social justice that have guided the nation's development.

The festivities continued into the evening with fireworks, concerts, and cultural events taking place throughout the country. It was a day for the people of Hussija to come together, celebrate their nation's history, and look forward to a future filled with hope and progress. As the sun set over Nová Praha and the National Day celebrations came to a close, the spirit of unity and pride that had filled the streets resonated in the hearts of Hussijans. This special day serves as a reminder of the nation's strength, resilience, and commitment to its values, ensuring that the People's Republic of Hussija continues to move forward on its path of progress and common prosperity.
The People's Republic of Hussija stands as a united Hussite socialist country in Central America.

Author: Mira Ahmâni

Tamara - amara - The Agausian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Integration is actively engaging in discussions with nearly fifty ethnic Agausians residing in Nagorno-Karabakh. These talks come amid an exodus of citizens, following the recent military developments in the region.

Nagorno-Karabakh, a disputed territory located in the South Caucasus and is international recognized by Azerbaijan, has been a longstanding area of contention between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The recent conflicts have resulted in significant changes to the region's demographics and political control.

On September 19, 2023, Azerbaijan launched a large-scale military offensive in Nagorno-Karabakh, resulting in a decisive victory and the disarmament of the forces of the ethic Armenian Republic of Artsakh. This has prompted discussions and actions regarding the fate of the population residing in the region.

The Agausian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Integration is in active communication with the approximately fifty ethnic Agausians living in Nagorno-Karabakh. The discussions are centered around their future, considering the changed geopolitical dynamics and the recent military operations.

In an official statement, the Agausian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Integration said, "We are deeply committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our ethnic Agausian community in Nagorno-Karabakh. Their concerns are our concerns, and we are actively exploring avenues to protect their rights and preserve their cultural identity."

Many Agausians living in the disputed region express concerns about their security and future in a region now under Azerbaijani control. The fear of potential repression and the desire to preserve their cultural and historical identity have become prominent factors in their decision-making process.

In light of the evolving situation and the expressed concerns of the ethnic Agausians, the Agausian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Integration is strategizing to ensure the safety and well-being of this community. Repatriation to their ancestral lands or other suitable arrangements are being explored to safeguard their rights and heritage.

The Agausian government, along with international partners, are closely monitoring the situation and coordinating efforts to facilitate a secure and voluntary repatriation process for everyone living in Nagorno-Karabakh.

ADL: New Logo, New Electoral Strategy
Author: Vit́o T́irbučkebi
Tuesday, September 26, 2023

Image

ûli - Irine Anidaže, the influential leader of the Democratic League of Agausia (ADL), has successfully steered her party towards embracing more progressive economic stances. Anidaže's strong advocacy for these policy shifts has resonated with the party members, resulting in a significant transformation of the ADL's economic agenda.

In a strategic move to broaden the party's appeal and align with Anidaže's vision, the ADL has moved away from traditional center-right economic policies and embraced more left-leaning economic ideologies. This shift positions the party as a proponent of progressive economic reform and highlights its dedication to addressing income inequality, social welfare, and sustainable economic growth.

What sets the ADL apart is its deliberate choice to remain an independent entity, free from any coalition or alliance. This strategic decision has allowed the party to craft a distinct "political outsider" image, positioning itself as the lone anti-establishment force in Agausian politics. The party's "outsider" status resonates strongly with voters disillusioned by the traditional political landscape, appealing to those seeking a fresh and authentic alternative.

Irine Anidaže's push for this change was fueled by her belief in the need for a fairer and more equitable economic system that benefits all citizens. By aligning the ADL's economic stance with her convictions, she aims to attract a broader spectrum of voters who seek a more socially conscious approach to economics.

The party's new economic platform emphasizes increased public investment in education, healthcare, and infrastructure, as well as a drive for green initiatives to combat climate change. Furthermore, the ADL advocates for fair taxation policies, emphasizing higher taxes on the wealthy and corporations to fund social programs.

This policy evolution within the ADL showcases Anidaže's influence and ability to galvanize the party in a new direction. The move towards a progressive economic stance also underscores the party's commitment to addressing the concerns of the electorate, particularly those seeking an alternative to established economic paradigms.

With the local council elections approaching, the ADL's revamped economic agenda and "political outsider" image will be central to their campaign. Anidaže and her party aim to demonstrate to the Agausian populace that they are dedicated to not only challenging the political establishment but also transforming the economic landscape in a way that prioritizes the needs of everyday citizens. The evolving political dynamics in Agausia suggest that this strategic shift might resonate with a significant portion of the unhappy electorate looking for change and a break from the established norms.

Political Firestorm Erupts Over Contract With Norway
Author: Milân Hežist́ḱi
Sunday, October 01, 2023

Image

Tamara - A scene of political theatre unfolded Friday on the Parliament floor. The Chairman of the Parliament, Žaḱub Ramont́i (SD), was seen visually confused as a measure, which was authored by his coalition, failed as the New Socialists (AS) joined the opposition in opposing the measure.

What was initially anticipated to be a routine parliamentary proceeding swiftly transformed into a battleground of ideologies and economic interests. The last minuet revision of a shipbuilding contract with Norway, a deal viewed as pivotal for Agausia's economic trajectory, became a lightning rod for a clash between political factions.

In Agausia any foreign company that wants to do business with a public and nationalized company must have the contract approved by the national parliament. In 2016 the Norwegian shipping company, Odfjell SE, began negotiations with the Agausia to produce and install specialized parts for three small tanker ships.

The installation was due to occur in Port Ǵrmabmé, but after the years of delay the plans were stalled further and further. In October of last year, when the port was delayed for another two years Odfjell demanded that the Agausian side renegotiate the original contract.

Finally, earlier this year the contract was finalized and sent to parliament for its approval. The original terms of the contract, from the 2018, indicated that nearly 80% of the work was to be done by Agausian public and nationalized companies, with the remaining 20% designated for private companies. The new contract however split the work between the public and private companies 70% to 30%.

When the contract was put before a vote in parliament the vote came in 70 MPs voted in favor, 71 MPs voted against. The New Socialists jointed the opposition and four members abstained from voting.

Chairman Ramont́i expressed his disappointment and frustration at the turn of events, and Social Democrats wasted no time in accusing the New Socialists of setting the coalition up for failure. The contract had received approval from the sole New Socialists MP on the Committee for Foreign Policy and Global Integration, Toma Mikélviči, who voted in favor of advancing the legislation.

On the opposing end, AS leader Pelisâ Ṕet́rosâni defended their stance, asserting that the contract's alteration favored private entities over the nation's own public industries. She argued for a stronger emphasis on nationalization and maintaining the originally intended 80-20 work distribution in favor of nationalized companies. Ṕet́rosâni also argued that a committee vote should not be equated with a floor vote and maintained that no act of political treachery had occurred.

On their part, the Norwegian company stated that they will be willing to revisit negotiations but added that the clock is running for the Agausian side.

ELEKTRAZ REGISTERED IN RAZENLAND
Thursday 5th October 2023

Gorinsk - A new company - ElektrAZ - has been registered in Razenland by the national government.

The Director of the Ministry of Transport, Uladislau Zakarin, confirmed a new automotive plant focusing on the manufacture of electric cars would follow, both for the export and domestic markets.

Razenland has incredibly little infrastructure to enable charging of electric vehicles, but Zakarin pledged to begin a programme of installing charging equipment nationally so that vehicles could be charged readily in city streets.

“This solution might be an imperfect fit in a rural setting, but we can clean up our cities and towns by renewing our commitment to public transport - including by producing new electric buses to go alongside our trams and trolleybuses - and by offering to the home market the possibility to buy and run a cheap electric car,” he said in a statement during a session of the National Assembly today.

Some dissident Assembly Members accused Zakarin of “fantasy”, saying that “Razenland is about as ready for the electric car as the electric car is for the rough roads of Razenland” - but generally across the chamber there was a gentle murmuring of support for the launch of the ElektrAZ brand.

“In this country we do not talk of ‘net zero’,” Zakarin continued, “but we do make realistic pledges and commitments to our environment, about which we care very much. We love trees. We love water. We love mountains. But we also can be grateful for clean air, which electric vehicles will help us to achieve in our built up areas.”

Razenland has historically paid no attention to the notion of the personal electric vehicle. Its urban centres are popular stomping grounds for electric trams and trolleybuses, and its national railway network is heavily electrified, but personal motor cars, ordinary buses, trucks and agricultural or industrial plant - usually domestically built - run on heavy liquid fuel that is no longer compatible with environmental friendliness.

Zakarin cited developments in energy generation, where a new hydro-electric cascade will “revolutionise the domestic energy situation” and clarified that “transport must be continually improving.” This is an important mention, after recent statistics showed the country still relies upon coal power stations for roughly 72% of its energy production - the Government needs to show it is taking environmentalism seriously, as ordinary Razenlandians are known for their love of the outdoors and of nature, which black smoke pouring from power station chimneys does nothing to enhance.

Zakarin confirmed a chairman for the ElektrAZ project would be appointed in due course. President Volotka praised the announcement about ElektrAZ and thanked Zakarin, Director of the Ministry of Transport, for his diligent work.

MoD Reminds Moscow of Humdul Strait Obligations
Author: Adam Vasilčuḱi

Tamara - In the wake of escalating tensions arising from Russia's intention to establish a naval base in the disputed Abkhazia region, the Agausian Ministry of Defense has reasserted the significance of upholding the Humdul Strait Agreement. Signed on October 19, 1999, between Agausia and Russia, this diplomatic accord played a critical role in resolving the protracted Humdul Dispute, focusing on the Humdul strait—a vital waterway for both Agausian and Russian travel and trade in the Black Sea.

The Humdul Strait Agreement delineated precise boundaries for territorial waters for both nations, affirming their commitment to safeguarding the civilian and merchant vessels of each nation. The necessity of this commitment has been amplified with Russia's recent announcement to establish a naval base in Abkhazia, a breakaway region in Georgia that has enjoyed Moscow's backing.

The Humdul Strait Agreement was forged in response to a diplomatic conflict that emerged after Agausia declared independence from the Soviet Union on March 4, 1991. The subsequent years were marked by intense negotiations and diplomatic disputes, culminating in the signing of the Humdul Strait Agreement on October 19, 1999, during a meeting between Then Agausian President Benâmin Ševčenḱo and Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin in Sochi.

Fast forward to the present, the leader of the unrecognized breakaway Republic of Abkhazia announced plans for the establishment of a Russian naval base in the region - this amid the backdrop of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The international community, including Georgia, strongly condemned this plan, labeling it a blatant violation of their sovereignty and territorial integrity.

As the Black Sea region experiences rising tensions, particularly with the relocation of Russian vessels and heightened concerns about potential incidents, the Agausian Ministry of Defense emphasizes the enduring relevance and importance of the Humdul Strait Agreement. In a statement to Moscow, Deputy Minister of Defense Ant́o Ṕlemâniḱovi stressed the necessity of cooperative measures to maintain regional peace and security. He emphasized that adhering to established international agreements, such as the Humdul Strait Accord, is pivotal for fostering a peaceful coexistence among nations within the Black Sea region.

PANTSLESS MAN ROBS CONVENIENCE STORE

9th October 2023

TAKUTAIROA
Police in the northern city of Takutairoa are conducting inquiries after a man armed with a butter knife robbed a convenience store whilst entirely nude from the waist down.

Image
A convenience store in Takutairoa was robbed by a man wearing no pants

The assailant has been described as "actually I'd rather not describe it to be honest. It was awful. You couldn't look away from it, his junk was just there the whole time, staring you in the face."

CCTV footage shows a masked man, fully covered from the waist up, brandishing a butter knife and demanding a case of beer, a pack of cigarettes and a copy of Rehuan Gardening Enthusiast magazine, which the evidently shocked clerk handed over.

Witnesses to the scene described their shock and terror.

"My son is absolutely traumatised from this! He's been wetting his bed and having night terrors ever since he witnessed the robbery!" said one woman. "He's only 32 years old!"

While public nudity is not a crime in Tangatarehua, the man will face charges of aggravated robbery and possession of a weapon.

In lieu of any ability to recognise the assailant's face, police in the area are urging members of the public to "send us pictures of your genitals" in order to be ruled out of the inquiry.

Hemi Kauri, the chief of the Takutairoa Prefecture Tiakitanga [Police Department] has strenuously denied that the request for pictures of genitalia is motivated by anything other than a genuine desire to catch the culprit.

"Well if you can think of a better way to catch criminals, I'd love to hear it."

Valennian Fiscal Fiasco: Automatic Tax Hike Sparks Public Outcry
Valennian National Newsline

MONTNOIRE, VALENNIA -
The country is in uproar today after parliamentary deadlock has thrown the nation into a fiscal crisis, leaving citizens grappling with automatic tax hikes. The failure to pass a bond sales bill to fund public expenditure has triggered the “auto-ratchet” tax mechanism that automatically increases taxes to match projected spending, sending shockwaves through the population. The income tax rate has gone up 7 basis points across all brackets, effective midnight, as the Ministry of Finance and His Majesty’s Treasury Department have exhausted temporary reserves.

As the news of the automatic tax hike spread, citizens found themselves caught in a web of uncertainty and frustration. Markets opened sharply down this morning and the number of workplace absences skyrocketed. Public outrage has been quick to follow. Protests and demonstrations have erupted across major cities, with citizens expressing their discontent with Parliament’s inability to fulfill its basic responsibilities. Public calls for the resignation of politicians from all major parties are trending on social media with increased calls for a snap election.

The absence of a fully-ratified budget means that, given Parliament has not passed a debt bill allowing bond sales, the auto-ratchet mechanism has kicked in, raising taxes across all individual and corporate income tax brackets to ensure a minimum level of government revenue and a balanced budget until spending and debt bills are passed. The immediate consequence of this fiscal debacle will be a strain on the wallets of average Valennian citizens and businesses. Small businesses in particular are feeling the pinch, as they navigate the increased cost of doing business in an already fragile economic environment.

Opposition leaders have seized the opportunity to criticize the ruling Democratic Action Party for its failure to navigate the complexities of budgetary negotiations and come to a compromise on spending priorities. Meanwhile, the DAP has blamed opposition parties for wanting a short-term financial failure to advance their own agendas with no intention of negotiating a good-faith compromise.

The lack of a budget agreement reflects a broader political impasse, with conflicting ideologies and partisan disputes paralyzing the legislative process. The auto-ratchet mechanism was introduced five years ago to ensure public services could continue in the absence of a full budget, since government spending, debt levels, and bond auctions must be approved by Parliament – a piecemeal process in recent years. While not typically an issue in strong majority government, the succession of minority governments and ad-hoc coalitions has effectively crippled Valennia’s public finances. The mechanism has never been triggered before.

The mechanism is seen as a last-resort to pressure politicians into working together in the face of a very unpopular measure. Without a clear financial plan in place, the automatic tax increase is a desperate measure to prevent a complete government shutdown by ensuring public services can continue at existing funding levels.

In the absence of a formal budget, Valennia's economy is left in a precarious position. Critical public services face funding shortages if revenue cannot keep pace with inflation or existing programs cannot meet new and unexpected pressures. The specter of further economic downturn looms large and international investors, already wary of the nation’s dysfunctional politics, now watch with skepticism as the country grapples with its self-inflicted fiscal wounds.

The road ahead remains uncertain. The Royal Household Association has not released remarks and no members of the Royal family have gone on record, though rumours abound of a temporary “Special Royal Warrant” effectively suspending Parliament until the next scheduled election is held in 2025 – a situation not seen since the late 1800s. As citizens demand accountability and effective governance, the economic stability of the country hangs in the balance. One thing is clear - Valennia's political leaders must find a swift resolution to the budgetary deadlock to restore confidence and prevent further harm to the nation's economy.

SOUTH REGION MOUNTAINS GET NEW DIGGERS FOR WINTER
Friday 13th October 2023

As the first snow falls on the South Region mountains of Razenland, the winter fleet of diggers are being sent up the treacherous roads in support of all those car and truck drivers who use them to get in and out of Razenland.

The roads can be famously perilous with snow drifts, flooding, potholing, rockfall and occasional road collapse among the significant challenges to users.

Every year, the Government supplies a number of additional diggers to help to keep the roads in good order. Razenland-built tractors, excavators and bulldozers are serialised with the numbers 1 to 9 according to their size and power. The biggest tractors allowed on the mountain passes are T8s, while X6 excavators and Z6 dozers are the largest plant permitted.

During the summer a number of locals are retained as plant operators in often old and worn out diggers. This year the supporting fleet is made up of entirely new vehicles, built of course to the traditional designs.

Snow has also threatened the coast of the Far North Region, signifying that it is time for the rest of Razenland to prepare for winter.

Where is Ermolai?
Author: St́epanâ Šurigini
Saturday October 14, 2023

Image

Tamara - On October fourth, Žaḱub Ramont́i (SD), the Speaker of the Agausian Parliament, formally contacted Prime Minister Mišḱo Ermolai (SD), Minister of Foreign Affairs and Integration Maksim Ṕanosi (SD), and Minister of Internal Affairs, Regional Development, Tourism, and Local Economies Lila Mamedovi (SD). The purpose was to seek clarification on pressing issues regarding the upcoming local elections and the substantial increase in voter registrations from Agausians residing abroad.

This outreach was well within the constitutional powers of the Agausian Parliament. However, it set the stage for a significant development during the scheduled parliamentary meeting last Thursday. While Ministers Ṕanosi and Mamedovi were punctual and present, Deputy Prime Minister Simon Samtsëkože (PMK) stood in for the absent Prime Minister, a move that raised eyebrows due to the unanticipated substitution.

The Prime Minister's absence drew criticism from Opposition MP Zimnini Ûerzavó (PD), who argued that this move violated parliamentary protocol and demanded an explanation for Ermolai’s nonattendance.

Deputy Prime Minister Samtsëkože issued an apology on behalf of the Prime Minister for the breach in parliamentary protocol and assured those present that measures would be taken to prevent such oversights in the future. However, he offered no insight into the Prime Minister's whereabouts.

Subsequently, Minister Mamedovi addressed the media, revealing that Ermolai had participated in a cabinet meeting just two days prior, leaving her puzzled about his unexpected absence from this crucial parliamentary inquiry.

Adding a layer of intrigue to the unfolding political drama, it's important to note that Prime Minister Mišḱo Ermolai is contending with historically low approval ratings. This detail raises further questions and speculation about his absence from this critical parliamentary affair.

Despite multiple attempts, the Prime Minister’s office failed to provide a comment within the given timeframe for publication.

Snap Election Called Amidst Fiscal Turmoil
Valennian National Newsline

MONTNOIRE, VALENNIA -
In a perhaps unsurprising turn of events, Prime Minister Antonio Flores has announced a snap election in the midst of a severe fiscal crisis. The crisis, triggered by the failure to pass a bill aimed at issuing debt bonds, has resulted in automatic tax hike that hit markets and incomes earlier this week.

The citizens of Valennia find themselves at a crossroads, faced with the opportunity to elect leaders who can navigate the country through these challenging times. Citizens are preparing to cast their votes in a bid to reshape the nation's economic future, though many pundits are unsure of which party will come out on top, as protesters and posts on social media seem to blame the government and opposition equally.

The decision to call for a snap election comes on the heels of widespread public outcry over the automatic tax increase that resulted from the parliamentary deadlock and the risk of Royal intervention suspending Parliament for up to two years. Protests and demonstrations have rocked major cities, with citizens expressing their frustration at the government's inability to navigate a compromise with opposition parties on fiscal governance as their personal finances and spending power deteriorates.

Opposition leaders, emboldened by the discontent on the streets, have seized the opportunity to call for change, blaming the governing Democratic Action Party for failing to tackle corruption and deliver on compromises promised earlier in the year. For their part, the DAP and their supporters place the blame squarely on opposition leaders for the deadlock, hurling insults and calling opposition members “two-faced” and “opportunistic”. The failure to pass a budget and the subsequent financial turmoil have become a rallying cry for those seeking an alternative leadership to guide Valennia through these challenging times as stock markets and exchange rates continue their downward spiral.

As political parties gear up for the upcoming election, candidates are outlining their visions for economic recovery and presenting solutions to pull Valennia out of its financial quagmire. Campaign promises include comprehensive budgetary reforms, transparency in fiscal governance, and a commitment to addressing the concerns of both businesses and ordinary citizens affected by the automatic tax hike. The difference, however, lies in the ideologies of various parties, with those on left, right, and center largely disagreeing on the best policies to achieve stability. Some parties advocate a rebalancing of the tax load, while others are promising spending cuts.

In any case, political analysts speculate that the snap election will serve as a referendum on the handling of the fiscal crisis, with voters poised to deliver a verdict on the incumbent government's performance. The issues of taxation, budgetary responsibility, and economic stability are expected to dominate the election discourse.

International observers are closely monitoring developments in Valennia, recognizing the potential impact of the snap election on the country's economic stability. The outcome of the election could influence investor confidence and shape future international relations, making it a crucial juncture for the country on both domestic and global fronts.

PALESTINIAN CONFLICT ISSUE: THE GOVERNMENT THREATS THE UNIFICATION AGREEMENT WILL BE CANCELED
20.10.2023

Image

SANTUBONG-Sarawak Darulhana issued a statement that the Unification Agreement which signed by Sarawak Darulhana and the Dayak People's Republic of Sarawak will be canceled following Sarawak South issuing a statement that the country stands with Israel and condemns the actions of the Palestinian fighters who defend the Gaza Strip.
Wisma Adenan also warned Kapit that the agreement can be canceled by Sarawak Darulhana at any time and any relationship can be withdrawn. According to Wisma Adenan's spokesperson, this statement was made following the decision of the National Shu'ra Council that met yesterday afternoon where the meeting had decided to temporarily suspend the Unification Agreement or cancel it as a response to the southern Sarawak government which seems to have "not taken notice of the era of Indonesian colonialism over the Sarawak region.
We are actually sad because they seem to still not take notice of what happened in the past. They are blind to a matter where what is happening in Palestine does not only involve Muslims but Christians are also involved in the oppression of Israel which is said to be called "God's Chosen Nation" ".

We threaten that the Unification Agreement will be nullified if South Sarawak (Dayak People's Republic of Sarawak) is still with Israel by condemning the actions of the fighters and legalizing the bloodshed in Gaza.

South Sarawak should reconsider their position with Israel because we can at any time invade the territory of Sibu which used to be part of us but due to the Borneo Agreement we handed over Sibu to the southern government and also your people will be prevented from entering North Sarawak. To South Sarawak especially the President George Ngkasan, you have been given a week to think about it. We don't oppress people but you are oppressing yourself and your own people

The Palestinian-Israeli issue started with the provocation on the day of Sukkot which was started by the Israelis themselves on October 8 and has continued until now. Now about 3000 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli airstrikes and 3 million have lost their homes. Israel's actions are also condemned when they stop any basic infrastructure such as electricity and water supply and internet.

South Sarawak issued a statement that the country is with Israel by waving the Israeli flag around the town of Kapit and condemning the fighters who are said to have started this war. Their statement was answered by Sarawak Darulhana through an official statement.

We don't care if they are with Israel, but why do they have to curse innocent Palestinians? Do they (Southern Sarawak) want any war like the Civil War that happened in the past? Do they want us to confiscate all their land and property so that they understand the situation faced by the Palestinian people?

For information, the Unification Agreement is an agreement that benefits both countries and also they can advance each other with their existing advantages.

If they prioritize brotherhood between Sarawak then retract their statement. If they prioritize "God's chosen nation", then accept the bad consequences from us.

Wisma Adenan also warned the USA not to interfere in the affairs of the two Sarawak countries because that is not the USA's problem
America don't interfere in our affairs. That's our personal problem not yours. We never bothered about your pussy(meaning their problem). You're just a dehumanizer. You just love war. That's the truth.

MP Sumleni Resigns Following Brother’s Death
Author: Ant́oni Leǵvi
Friday, October 20, 2023

Image

Tavšesapari - Thursday morning a spokesperson for Sergei Sumleni announced that the Social Democratic MP, representing Aḱlos’ third district, would be resigning from his seat effective immediately. This announcement came seemingly out of nowhere and no reasoning was provided as to the MP’s decision behind abandoning his seat.

On Friday Sumleni, now officially a former MP, released a statement online explaining the reasoning behind his decision. The statement, addressed to his constituents, began:

It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that I must announce my resignation from my position as your Member of Parliament. This decision has not been taken lightly, but circumstances beyond my control have led me to this point. On October eighteenth, I suffered a devastating loss with the passing of my beloved brother Ṕit́er Âḱobiže Sumleni. His sudden departure has left a void in my life that cannot be filled, and I am compelled to take some time away from the responsibilities of public office to grieve and support my family during this difficult period.

Politicians from across the political spectrum have sent their condolences and regards to Sumleni and his family. President Aioviḱara also has reportedly visited the former statesman and his grieving family at his residence in the city of Ḱvenitsëḱali.

This vacancy will trigger a by-election sometime in late November or early December. There have been rumblings and rumors that the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Regional Development, Tourism and Local Economies will scheduel the election for November twenty-fifth to coincide with the upcoming local elections.

Sumleni had represented his former district, Aḱlos’ third, since he won it in a by-election in 2015. The election was called after a car accident which resulted in the death of former MP Luḱa Pedrovi (AL). Since flipping the district in 2015 Sumleni had always faced tough reelection campaigns against any Agausian Liberal opponents. The outcome of this by-election, together with the upcoming local elections, could be a bellwether for the governing coalition.

Controversial move to rename iconic Dunedin landmark met with mix of anger, support
Dunedin, Drongonia

founding in the early 1800s. Photo // File

Dunedin City Councillor Celia Wells-Bader is tabling a controversial motion which will put before the Mayor tomorrow morning.

The motion involves putting the idea of renaming Dunedin's iconic Union Square to Kotahitanga Square. 'Kotahitanga' means unity, or togetherness in Te Reo Māori. Wells-Bader believes the move will "encourage Dunedin's residents to acknowledge the Māori suffering that went into the recolonisation of Drongonia, and Dunedin in particular".

If the motion is approved by the city's Mayor, Liz Braithwaite, the council will vote on the proposal later this week, as public records show the Council's schedule is lighter than usual. If the idea is approved by Councillors, the Dunedin public will have 30 days to present submissions regarding the change. National submissions will be open, but submissions of those living within the City Council area or those with a connection to the city will be weighted against those of others, in accordance with Local Government guidelines.

In the midst of some outraged locals calling on central Government to intervene, Local Government Minister Donald Wood told TVDG that while he thinks renaming the historic landmark "would not be appropriate", he said that "as long as the DCC [Dunedin City Council] follows the due process in terms of consultation and fair notice, it is their decision to make".

Dunedin CBD Business Association Chairwoman Kelly Price said her organisation "has been a bit blindsided by the idea" but believes the local businesses will support the change "if there is local appetite for it". Peeni Horata, head of the non-profit Māori Drongonia Group, said he was "thrilled with the idea" and hopes that "this brave move will spur more Drongonian cities and towns to start giving due respect to the Tangatawhenua that once inhabited their land".

Union Square was given its name in 1963, following the signing of the Wellington Pact in 1962, which saw the formal end to hostilities between Drongonia and New Zealand following the 1950 war and resulting split. Prior to 1962, the site was locally known as "the Square" and officially retained its pre-war name of "Central Square". The idea of renaming the square isn't new, however - with proposals being floated as far back as 1994, when the name "Ōtepoti Square" was floated, but did not make it past the consultation stage with a majority of locals being against the idea.

Head of the Dunedin Archives, Clive Greenwood, told TVDG in an interview that any name change would be "devastating" to the area's local history. Greenwood said that "the significance of the English name shouldn't be lost on anyone - Drongonians and New Zealanders, including many Māori on the New Zealand side, fought and died in a bloody conflict, and the name symbolises the end of that as well as moving forward."

The vote is expected to take place on Tuesday and the results will be published on the Dunedin City Council website, as well as in the Southern Times newspaper.

Ayer and Romatex Ink $400 Million Wafer Supply Deal, Boosting Semiconductor Production

Queenborough - In a significant move within the semiconductor industry, Ayer and Romatex have recently finalized a comprehensive wafer supply agreement valued at $400 million. This strategic collaboration aims to foster enhanced production capabilities and solidify the foothold of both companies in the global semiconductor market. Under the terms of the agreement, Ayer, a renowned semiconductor wafer manufacturer, will become the primary supplier of wafers to Romatex. These wafers will serve as the foundation for the production of various semiconductor devices. The deal is designed to be a long-term commitment, spanning multiple years. The partnership signifies a mutually beneficial endeavor. Ayer, based in Silicon Gateway, Hundredstar, will see its factory utilization rate increase significantly as a result of the agreement. This uptick in production activity aligns with the company's aspirations for growth and its commitment to supplying quality wafers to meet the ever-growing demand for semiconductor devices.

For Romatex, this collaboration secures a reliable source of high-quality wafers, further enhancing their capabilities in semiconductor production. The pact positions Romatex to expand its influence in the competitive semiconductor landscape. By signing this substantial wafer supply agreement, Ayer and Romatex are poised to contribute to the development of cutting-edge semiconductor devices and sustain their presence in a fast-evolving industry. The $400 million deal is indicative of the ongoing investments and partnerships vital to driving innovation and maintaining a competitive edge in the global semiconductor sector.

Ayer’s extensive expertise in producing high-quality wafers perfectly complements Romatex's manufacturing capabilities, fostering mutually beneficial collaboration. With this deal in place, Ayer can effectively scale up their production capacity and ensure an uninterrupted supply chain. The synergy between these two industry giants promises not only increased revenue streams but also heightened innovation in the semiconductor sector by leveraging each other's strengths and technical competencies. As the semiconductor industry continues to experience unprecedented growth and silicon wafer technology advances at breakneck speeds, this timely alliance represents a pivotal step towards meeting surging market requirements and cementing both companies' positions as frontrunners in this fiercely competitive landscape.

Greens Form Majority Government
Valennian National Newsline

MONTNOIRE, VALENNIA -
In a stunning turn of events, the Green Party party emerged victorious in Valennia's snap election, securing an unexpected majority with 51% of the vote and 168 seats in parliament. Not only is this the country’s first majority government in 12 years, but also the first Green Party government in the nation’s history.

This electoral triumph signals a clear mandate from the citizens of Valennia for a fresh and sustainable approach to governance in the wake of the recent fiscal turmoil. The Green Party party, led by Olivier Romero, resonated with voters who sought a departure from the traditional political landscape, placing blame on the two traditional major parties—the Democratic Action Party (DAP) and the Progressive Alliance (PA)—for their perceived roles in the economic crisis.

The election result is a resounding rebuke to the DAP and the PA, with voters expressing dissatisfaction over their handling of the fiscal crisis. The DAP, led by Prime Minister Antonio Flores, faced criticism for what some perceived as a lack of decisive action and bold reforms, while the Progressive Alliance, under the leadership of Mateo Rodriguez, was scrutinized for its proposed progressive tax system and social spending plans. In this climate of discontent, the Green Party party's emphasis on environmental sustainability, social progressivism, and a departure from conventional politics struck a chord with a majority of voters, leading to an unexpected electoral mandate.

The new Green Party government’s first priority is to introduce a budget that will end the emergency tax hike. Romero outlined a number of priorities for the budget:
-Reduce income taxes to just above pre-emergency levels
-Temporary deficits with a projected balanced budget in 4 years
-Conscription axed on moral and cost grounds
-Green investments geared towards job creation and energy production
-Gradual reduction in fossil fuel subsidies
-Abortion legalization
-Remove sales taxes on essential goods & feminine hygiene products
-New “Eco” sales tax introduced on electronics, cars, fuel, and other polluting products

Women’s groups and environmentalists have praised the plans, while some conservative commentators have blasted it as too progressive too quickly. In any case, social media posts point to a sense of relief among the populace, as many have accepted the proposed modest tax changes in exchange for stability. Markets responded positively, with the Valennian Industrial Index up in early morning trading as green companies saw their stock values rise.

As Olivier Romero prepares to lead Valennia, the nation is poised for a significant shift in governance, with a focus on green initiatives, environmental responsibility, and social progress. The election result underscores the electorate's desire for a new direction and a commitment to addressing not only economic challenges but also broader issues of environmental sustainability and social equality. The Green Party party's victory marks a turning point in Valennia's political landscape, signaling an era of change and a departure from the status quo.

Agausian Liberals Attempt to Nationalize Local Elections
Author: Sepan Et́aṕikevli
Sunday October 22, 2022

Image

Didibazari - On Saturday afternoon, the Agausian Liberals hosted a rally in the city of Didibazari to bolster their support ahead of the upcoming local elections next month.

Local elections in Agausia have traditionally maintained a hyper-local focus, dealing with issues rarely addressed on the national stage. However, the Agausian Liberals are striving to reshape this paradigm with their proposal to nationalize local elections. This strategic shift aims to shift the spotlight from localized concerns and regional dynamics, which have long defined the Agausian political landscape, to a more centralized stage.

With the elections still almost a month away, the success of this strategy remains uncertain. Nevertheless, the Agausian Liberals, along with other right-leaning parties, are currently polling higher than the coalition parties that have traditionally dominated local politics. This changing public sentiment reflects the appeal of their innovative approach, suggesting that Agausian voters may be receptive to a transformation in the conduct of local politics.

The presence of Iumi T́aḱačua, the Mayor of Didibazari and a member of the Agausian Liberals, at the rally underscores the party's determination to secure victories in the upcoming local elections. T́aḱačua made headlines last year by shifting the mayor's seat from the Social Democratic party to the Agausian Liberals during the regional elections. The Agausian Liberals aim to replicate these results in various municipalities across the nation, furthering their centralization agenda for local governance.

Furthermore, the Agausian Liberals are not exclusively focused on reshaping the local political landscape; they are also using these elections as a referendum on the government's mandate. This perspective adds a layer of complexity to the upcoming elections, as they serve as a critical test of the current administration's policies and performance.

The strategic shift by the Agausian Liberals has garnered mixed reactions from political analysts. Some argue that it may exacerbate polarization in the country, challenging the deeply ingrained tradition of decentralized local governance. The proposed nationalization of local elections is seen by many as a bold gamble with the potential to reshape Agausia's political landscape.

Despite the mixed reception, Agausian Liberal candidates across the country have embraced this strategy. Analysts suggest that the opposition has also adopted this approach to attract voters from parties that are exclusively represented at the local level. In the latest round of polling, nearly 15% of the electorate would vote for parties not represented in the national parliament.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM WISMA ADENAN
23.10.2023 by DHN Reporters

Bismillahirahmanirahim,

In order to obey His Majesty the Sultan of Sarawak Darulhana, Sultan Tengah III Ibrahim Ali Omar Shah III Ibni Almarhum Sultan Tengah II Ibrahim Ali Indrashah, after it was decided through the Royal Council, the National Shu'ara Council and the State Legislative Assembly, I as Bendahara Menteri (Prime Minister) declared that diplomatic relations between the country that I lead now and the Dayak People's Republic of Sarawak are terminated immediately. This is because my counterpart Tuan George Ngkasan as the President of the Dayak People's Republic of Sarawak refused to withdraw his statement that his country will stand with Israel and condemn the actions of the fighters as an act of terrorism whereas this matter is not authentic in terms of facts.

As a country that uses Islam as the official religion of Sarawak Darulhana and the King as our patron and the country is where we live and die, we are also concerned about the situation in Palestine. We understand them very well. Last week, I loudly condemned the actions of the Zionist regime which openly commits war crimes on Gaza. However, there are also "beasts" who still issue statements that they stand with the regime even though the regime commits quite a damnable crime.

I and other Ministers have also decided that the Unification Agreement signed by me and Tuan George Ngkasan witnessed by both Sarawak countries is cancelled. This means, all discussions between the two countries in various plans are indirectly cancelled. I regret to inform you that, the Pan-Unification of Borneo High Speed Rail (HSR) project which shortens the time from Kuching to Kapit by only 1 hour is TEMPORARILY CANCELED and will continue if there is agreement between the two countries in the future. In addition to the HSR project, The Cultural Exchange Program that was supposed to take place at the end of this month was also canceled. In fact, we have given them the opportunity to continue with us by withdrawing their statement with Israel through a memorandum sent through their Embassy but responded negatively. Their response made His Majesty saddened..

The Embassy of the Dayak People's Republic of Sarawak has been given a period of 7 days to vacate the premises of the embassy immediately. Those who work in this country are asked to pack their clothes to return to their own country. They will also be compensated by the government of $12,000 as a sign of gratitude for their services in Sarawak Darulhana. their flight costs from Kuching to Kapit are fully borne by the Sultanate of Sarawak Darulhana

I also warn the USA, which is supposed to be the "guardian of world harmony". You should not interfere in Borneo's land affairs. You should not become a flint between us. Please take care of your country's problems first.

Finally, thank you to the Dayak People's Republic of Sarawak for being willing to cooperate with us in various matters. I am confident that our unification is getting closer and closer, only time and the day will decide. May we prosper forever,Insya-Allah

HARAPLAH SELAGI BERNAFAS

WAYLONIA, Andsto - October 24, 2023

The Dominion of Andsto, a colony of The Federation of Gabeonia, has declared itself a free state. Late on October 23rd, the Andstonian Assembly voted to institute an autocracy and passed AB #7365 Slavery & Child Labor Act allowing the sale and trade of human beings, and the employment of children as young as 5 years old. The Gabeonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned this move by Andsto and ordered them to repeal the act and switch back to democracy. The Assembly responded with a resounding "no". The Gabeonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs declined to comment at this time. Gabeonian President Kaleb Nightwall stated, "Gabeonia has given Andsto great economic and political freedom. However, Gabeonia will not stand to autocracies, slavery, or child labor. We are exploring all options to resolve this situation."

TEN REASONS TO VISIT TANGATAREHUA

27th October 2023
ImageImageImageImage

PAID PROMOTION
Tangatarehua now ranks as Greater Dienstad's most popular tourist destination and it's easy to see why! Here are ten reasons why you absolutely must visit Tangatarehua in your lifetime:

Image
Tangatarehua has an ancient and unique cultural heritage

1: THE CULTURE AND HISTORY

Tangatarehua is one of the oldest civilisations anywhere in the world, dating all the way back to the year 270 BC. Because of its relative geographic isolation, the nation has developed a unique culture rarely found anywhere else in the world and is one of the most prominent Polynesian cultures in the world.

The nation is full of ancient temples, buildings and palaces - some dating back tens of thousands of years while the nation has a long, storied and fascinating history that comes to life at every turn.

Meanwhile, the people are extremely polite and will always go to great lengths to help travellers, despite the language barrier and culture shock. This is because of a concept called manaakitanga, loosely translated as "hospitality", which lies at the heart of Rehuan culture - the belief that the way to show prestige and honour is by bestowing love and care upon your guests and putting the needs of others before your own.

Image
Tangatarehua has everything from tropical beaches, to lush rainforests, to snow-capped mountains.

2. THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT

Despite being an industrialised country of over 30 million people, Tangatarehua is an extremely clean country. The air and water are pure and protected by strict regulations, the nation has thousands of hectares of protected green spaces and even in the major cities, litter is extremely rare.

Rehuans believe in a concept called kaitiakitanga or "guardianship" - that the environment is a sacred treasure to be guarded and handed down for the next generation. Protecting the environment is seen as something sacred in Tangatarehua and is a core part of the beliefs of Tikanga Wairua, the state religion. Most would never think of polluting or littering (and indeed, littering on a city street is highly illegal and could instantly net you a $20,000 fine).

Tangatarehua also has one of the most extremely diverse landscapes and climates anywhere in the world, ranging from the tropical beaches of the northern Ikame nga Maramara islands, to the snow-capped peaks of Maungapuia and Maungamakariri, the dense rainforests of western Marangawhenua and the cold, dry semi-deserts of eastern Motumakariri.

3. SAFETY

Tangatarehua is one of the safest nations in Greater Dienstad or indeed anywhere in the world, with extremely low rates of violent crime.

The nation is constitutionally pacifist, having renounced war altogether in 1979 following the horrors of previous wars that devastated the country and has since embarked on a neutral, diplomatic foreign policy that emphasises soft power and peace.

As a nation, Tangatarehua abhors violence in all forms and has extremely strict laws banning firearms, swords, spears and even knives and compared to other nations, crime is almost unheard of.

That's not to say that there aren't pockets of problem areas, as Tangatarehua does have an underbelly of organised crime however for tourists and most people in general, you're extremely unlikely to encounter crime or danger in Tangatarehua.

4. IT'S A SHOPPER'S PARADISE

Image
Taimana is the largest and oldest department store in Tangatarehua, dating back to the year 1695

Tangatarehua has one of the largest retail sectors in the world and the second largest in Greater Dienstad. Tamaki in particular is full of all kinds of shops, from traditional Pakihi Kaiahu (small owner-operated stores) to large department stores and international chains.

You will find things in Tangatarehua that you will not find anywhere else in the world, including local fashion, handcrafted jewellery and traditional Maori garments such as Korowai. Meanwhile, a favourable exchange rate means that Tangatarehua is quite a cheap place to shop until you drop for many travellers.

Of particular fame is Taimana, a department store located in the Whangatonga district of Tamaki (with another branch in Wharekorana). Taimana is the nation's largest and oldest department store, dating back to the year 1695 and is considered a must-visit location for any trip to Tamaki.

Image
Cannabis is legal for recreational purposes in Tangatarehua and has been a part of the culture and traditions for hundreds of years

5. TANGATAREHUA IS OPEN TO HEDONISTIC PLEASURES

Given its isolation and the uniqueness of its culture, Tangatarehua has very different standards of public morality compared to western nations influenced by Judeo-Christian-Islamic traditions.

As such certain vices that are typically illegal in western countries such as drug use, gambling and prostitution are completely legal in Tangatarehua with only minimal regulation.

Obtaining pleasure is considered perfectly natural in Tangatarehua provided you aren't harming other people. If you want to go to a casino while completely naked, hire four hookers and then spend the rest of the night in an opium den - legally, no one is going to stop you.

It should be noted that while Tangatarehua is more permissive in some aspects, it's less permissive in others: For example, while it's not illegal, the nation is still not culturally accepting of LGBT+ lifestyles. The nation is also extremely hostile to violence - so while a child could easily rent a pornographic movie if they wanted to, violent films are frequently banned by the government.

Image
Extreme sports are very popular in Tangatarehua

6. IT'S A SPORTING NATION

If you love sports and you're looking for a thrill, Tangatarehua is the nation for you.

Tangatarehua is a popular destination for extreme sports from skiing and snowboarding in the mountains, to surfing violent waves at the beach, to bungy-jumping off skyscrapers in Tamaki. Whatever gets your adrenaline pumping, you'll find it here.

Conventional sports are also very popular - especially rugby union, with the national rugby championship drawing in thousands of spectators including the Empress herself, who is known to be a fan of the sport.

Despite the general antipathy towards violence, martial arts are very popular in Tangatarehua. Mau Rakau is a traditional Maori martial art and if you've ever wanted to learn it or see it in action, you'll rarely find it outside of Tangatarehua.

7. THE FOOD

Tangatarehua has some of the best food in the world and no trip is complete without sampling the local cuisine.

While some dishes (such as dog and whale meat) might not be to the tastes of many foreigners, there are few things more enjoyable than the earthy taste of a traditional hangi. Tangatarehua, being an island nation, is never short on fresh high quality fish and there are dozens of kumara (sweet potato) recipes dating back thousands of years to the days when kumara was the staple of the national diet.

A very popular Rehuan food export is Waipiro Kumara or Sweet Potato Vodka, the national drink and a traditional way to start or end any meal or feast.

8. THE WILDLIFE

Tangatarehua's isolation has given it a biodiversity unlike that of anywhere else in the world.

In the warmer months, the coastlines are surrounded by whales (the national animal) and dolphins and there are countless opportunities to get up close with these majestic creatures.

On land, Tangatarehua boasts creatures considered extinct in other parts of the world or very unique variations on other animals. The Keko or Rehuan Monkey is not an uncommon sight in the forests of the warmer northern parts of the nation and is a very commonly kept pet.

A very popular animal in Tangatarehua is the Moa - a giant, ostrich-like flightless bird that sometimes tower as much as two metres tall. The island of Rangiwhero also boasts a small population of Thylacines (Tasmanian tigers), while the mountains of Motumakariri feature the rare (but dangerous) Rehuan black panther.

Finally, the nation is also home to the Kura or Polynesian dog as well as the Rehuan singing dog - a close relative of the New Guinean singing dog.

If you're curious about Tangatarehua's unique wildlife then Rakipa zoo hosts all of the aforementioned unique animals and is very popular among international visitors.

9. THE FESTIVALS

Tangatarehua doesn't have public holidays - it has holiweeks, once every season, in which the entire nation gets a week or more off. Visiting Tangatarehua during one of these festival periods will always be a unique and memorable experience and certain places in particular are the perfect destination in certain seasons.

Te Whakanui i a Rehua: The festival of Rehua, usually held sometime between March 21 and April 1 to mark the autumn equinox and the appearance in the sky of the star Rehua (for whom the nation is named), in the constellation Scorpio. The weather is usually mild and dry at this time of year and is when people get together to party and get drunk before winter comes - and the best place to do that is definitely the Tamaki waterfront, which boasts hundreds of bars, clubs and restaurants.

Hakari o te Takurua: The feast of winter, held in the last week of June to mark the winter solstice (Tangatarehua is in the southern hemisphere). The tradition is similar to Christmas in western nations and involves gift-giving and a traditional meal of roast pork and kumara. The best place to be at this time of year is Kaitohura, which celebrates with its annual snow and ice festival - featuring large ice sculptures, ice skating and bright lights throughout the city to bring some winter cheer.

Te Whakanui i a Puanga: The festival of Puanga, usually held in the last week of September or first week of October to mark the arrival of spring and the appearance of the star Puanga (in the constellation Orion). At this time of year Tangatarehua is awash in pink and yellow, as cherry blossoms, daffodils and Kowhai trees come to life. The Kowhai (meaning 'yellow') festival in Wharekorana is very worth visiting at this time of year, with the city's famous botanical gardens awash in vibrant spring colours.

Hakari o te Raumati: The feast of summer is held in the last week of December and usually lasts until January 2nd. While summer can sometimes be unpleasant in parts of Tangatarehua due to the arrival of the monsoon and hurricane season (known locally as "Romata raumati" or "summer tears"), the best place to be is Whakaara where the imperial guards and ladies of the palace frequently stage large public spectacles such as haka. It's also the one time of year in which it's possible to catch of a glimpse of the nation's reclusive Empress, who usually appears on the balcony of Whakaara Castle on New Year's day to give her annual address to the nation

10. THERE ARE FEW TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS

Because Tangatarehua is a neutral, pacifist nation it welcomes citizens from all nations to its shores, provided they have a biometric passport.

You don't need a visa - just turn up and you're automatically entitled to stay for as long as you want, provided that you do not accept employment, purchase property or use public services such as schools or hospitals.

This makes Tangatarehua an attractive destination for young "digital nomads" and artists - provided you have a revenue stream from outside of Tangatarehua which will pay for your food and accommodation, you are perfectly entitled to live in the nation as a non-citizen - although there is no pathway to citizenship via this method.

The hardest part is getting to Tangatarehua as it's a long flight from most destinations - but as long as you're fully vaccinated and have no criminal history, you'll be told Haere Mai (welcome) at the border and the Empire of Tangatarehua is yours to explore.

If you'd like to win a trip to Tangatarehua, the Imperial Tangatarehua Tourism Corporation plans to give away flights for two, two weeks luxury accommodation and K200,000 (NSD$10,000) spending money - just tell us in 200 words or more why you want to visit Tangatarehua! Find out more at http://www.visittangatarehua.tr.
Competition open only to residents of Greater Dienstad, aged 18 or over with a valid biometric passport. Participants must have a clean criminal history and an up to date vaccination record, including approved Covid-19 vaccinations.

City Council to Discuss Proposal to Ban Traditional Earthen Overns

Dačrili - Just west of the city of Romda, you will find the city of Dačrili, which is home to just over eighteen thousand people. In recent years, Dačrili has experienced an alarming increase in residential and commercial fires, with over fifty-seven fires in the city directly attributed to the use of traditional outdoor ovens.

These outdoor ovens, known as Ḱerebi in Agausian, are small and partially dug into the ground, constructed using stones from the nearby Lečûm mountains. Local legend has it that cooking on these stones provides natural health and spiritual benefits. In the Tsënt́ri region, a local economy has even emerged around the craft and construction of these earthen ovens.

On Tuesday, the Dačrili city council, consisting of eleven members including ten council representatives and the city's mayor, announced their intention to deliberate on a measure that would ban the use of Ḱerebi within the city limits on residential properties. This measure would also establish a licensing board for Ḱerebi used in hospitality and services within the city.

Mayor Art́ur Gurgenovi (AL), who supports this legislation, emphasized the need for action after a recent devastating fire last month that destroyed several buildings and claimed two lives. This fire was caused by an unattended Ḱerebi outside a local café. He stated, "These careless actions have not only drained Dačrili's already limited funds but have also taken lives. We must take steps to protect our citizens."

Mikai Svani, a local third-generation Ḱerebi sculptor, expresses concerns about the potential impact of the ban on his business and the cultural heritage of the city. He said, "While I do operate throughout the region, the majority of my business is here in the city. If I can't work within the city, I fear for my family's legacy, and we risk losing a significant part of our culture." Svani shared these thoughts during our visit to his shop in the small village of Rovsela, located just outside the city.

However, not everyone disagrees with the ban's intentions, and there is a legal precedent for such a measure. The city of Romda, closely connected to Dačrili, implemented a complete ban on these ovens in 2009, with the exception of licensed restaurants and cafes. The city council in Dačrili is looking to use Romda's decade-old ban as a model for their own legislation.
