To just answer the questions at hand:

    • does your YN police have any millitary equipment
Yes, they have access to assault rifles, shotguns, bomb defusal and disposal kits, military-grade ballistic armour and tactical grenades.

    • does the police have any chance of getting army equipment
It's unlikely as the army would probably be called in if a situation was getting serious enough to require such equipment.

    • Can the YN army intervene in the matter of policing in the time of crisis
Legally yes, only after the authorisation of the Minister of Police. This hasn't happened though.

    • How usual is police militarization in YN
    Extremely unusual.

    • Is YN Police Heavily armed or lightly armed
Lightly armed. The average patrol officer (aka a beat cop) carries a taser, pistol and pepper spray.

    • is YN SWAT fully millitarized
Not entirely as the APRS (Armed Police Response Unit) is made up of regular police who are called in when needed.

    • Would YN government approve of Police militarization
Not unless it was deemed necessary to counter civil unrest or something.

    • What is the current stance on Police militarization in YN
Very much against it. Most people on the political right would see it as the symptom of a crime-ridden shithole, and most on the left would see it as a massive overreach of government rights.

    • does police militarization occur when YN government declares A state of an emergency
It can, but it has yet to happen.

    • Does YN police have modern millitary equipment or outdated equipment
    Modern where applicable.

• does your YN police have any millitary equipment No
• does the police have any chance of getting army equipment Not really. If there's a situation in which militarisation is required then the Imperial Guards would be mobilised.
• Can the YN army intervene in the matter of policing in the time of crisis The Tangatarehua Self-Defence Force is absolutely prohibited from any law enforcement duties, however in rare situations the Wāhanga Tohunga [Imperial Guards] can intervene at the discretion of the Empress.
• How usual is police militarization in YN Absolutely unheard of.
• Is YN Police Heavily armed or lightly armed The Tiakitanga [police] are not armed, with the exception of Rōpū Tiaki Motuhake [Police Special Branch] who are permitted to carry pistols and in rare events, rifles.
• is YN SWAT fully millitaryized There is no SWAT in Tangatarehua. The closest equivalent is Rōpū Tiaki Motuhake who, as above, are not militarised but merely the only branch of police permitted to carry firearms.
• Would YN government approve of Police militarization No
• What is the current stance on Police militarization in YN Almost universally opposed, except by a few far right nutjobs.
• does police militarization occur when YN government declares A state of an emergency No
• Does YN police have modern millitary equipment or outdated equipment The Imperial Guards and TSDF have fairly modern equipment, the Police Special Branch use firearms that probably date back to World War I.

does your YN police have any millitary equipment

Shalotte does not have a 'police force' as traditionally understood. The capital city, Alauna, has established something equivalent to a 'Sherriff', as Alauna is the only especially highly populated settlement on the islands and so has a somewhat higher crime rate (more than the rest of Shalotte combined, in fact), but this is not a formal police force and the 'Sherriff' is not armed.

Local justice is handled by communities and the Draér - religious leaders - where possible.

The Daedhmaenach Domnaeni (Executors of the Domnaeni) is a partly paramilitary force in service to the monarch, however, and may be called upon to fulfil a law enforcement role in the event of major crimes. The Executors can serve as investigators, enforcers, and judicial authorities speaking on behalf of the Domnaeni when called upon to do so, and - as befitting their primary role as protectors of the monarch - they do have military equipment at their disposal.

does the police have any chance of getting army equipment

See above.

Can the YN army intervene in the matter of policing in the time of crisis

Shalotte's equivalent of an 'army' is the Shalotte Slandérae (Shalotte Security); a part-time, voluntary, community-led, government-funded militia with roughly 160 active members as of writing (with trained reserves of up to 400). Shalotte Security is explicitly maintained to deal with external threats, not internal threats.

As the Executors of the Domnaeni likely come close to Shalotte Security's manpower (the precise number of Executors is unknown, but it is thought to be around 100), but they tend to be much better armed and trained than the militia members, anything that the Executors cannot deal with would likely be beyond the capabilities of Shalotte Security too. However, it is thought that - given their primary mandate of protecting the Domnaeni at all costs - in the event of an existential threat (internal or external), the professional, full-time members of the Executors would assume operational command over Shalotte Security anyway, allowing them to call upon their forces if needed.

How usual is police militarization in YN

See above.

It is exceedingly rare for the Executors to actually be called upon in their role as law enforcement/judiciary, however, so the vast majority of Shalottes never interact with them in their lifetimes - so in a sense 'police militarisation' is equally uncommon.

Is YN Police Heavily armed or lightly armed

The Executors, the closest thing to a police force Shalotte has, are thought to be better-equipped than the militia. The precise funding, equipment, and even number of personnel of the Executors is not publicly available, so most information about them is hearsay and assumption. However while members of Shalotte Security are equipped with archaic weapons - primarily old Lee Enfield rifles imported from foreign nations' mothballed stock at extremely low cost - Executors have been witnessed carrying much more modern equipment, including assault rifles and submachine guns manufactured since the 1970s.

YN SWAT fully millitaryized

Shalotte has no 'SWAT' - the Executors would serve this role if necessary.

Would YN government approve of Police militarization

The Gaeltyn has not seen fit to establish a police force, due to the rarity of severe crime and the effectiveness of local communities in self-policing. Even if they did so, it is unlikely that they would ever approve of a heavily-armed police force as seen in other countries. Firearms are not illegal, but due to the nature of the Shalotte population and its economy, and the expense of importing firearms from Shalotte's remote and isolated location, they simply do not exist outside of government- or Domnaeni-sponsored groups, so the need for an armed police force would be minimal.

The Executors of the Domnaeni are armed, but this is due to their role as the Domnaeni's bodyguards.

What is the current stance on Police militarization in YN

See above.

does police militarization occur when YN government declares A state of an emergency

The Gaeltyn has only ever declared a state of emergency due to weather-related crises such as severe storms. Militarisation would not help with such things, although the Domnaeni's Executors have, on occasion, assisted with relief efforts at the behest of Alsa II.

Does YN police have modern millitary equipment or outdated equipment

As stated, the Executors are largely thought to be better-equipped than the actual militia. They are funded directly from the Domnaeni's estate, and can afford to import more modern weapons for their duties. There are no 'police' to possess military equipment besides the 'Sherriff' in Alauna, who has no weapons.

Only lightly armed, they have a kevlar vest and rubber pellet loaded shotgun
• is YN SWAT fully millitaryized
no, we don't have a SWAT teams
• Would YN government approve of Police militarization
No, that's the job of the military, not the police officers.
• What is the current stance on Police militarization in YN
It's seen as potencialy dangerous.
• does police militarization occur when YN government declares A state of an emergency

• does your YN police have any millitary equipment

Yes, the Imperial "Adjudicators" are equipped with military equipment

• does the police have any chance of getting army equipment

Yes. In fact, army equipment is considered "standard-issue" for the Adjudicators

• Can the YN army intervene in the matter of policing in the time of crisis

Yes, in fact it often does when Adjudicator forces are not readily available

• How usual is police militarization in YN

Even beyond the Adjudicators, planetary law enforcement is often heavily militarized by necessity. Ultimately however, the equipment of planetary law enforcement is dependent upon the whims of a planetary government or the assigned Imperial Planetary Governor

• Is YN Police Heavily armed or lightly armed

Heavily armed given the nature and scope of their duties

• is YN SWAT fully millitaryized

I mean I suppose.... but the Empire doesn't really possess a specific SWAT analogue, it's kinda just blended into the primary law enforcement.

• Would YN government approve of Police militarization

Yes

• What is the current stance on Police militarization in YN

Many of those in favor of military police would point to the pervasive and corrupting nature of Cults dedicated to Chaos, Genestealers, and other Heretical ideologies as the greatest reason why militarized law enforcement

• does police militarization occur when YN government declares A state of an emergency

Yes. In fact the Empire is always in a constant state of emergency, surrounded on all sides by a menagerie of existential threats. As stated before the pervasive and corrupting nature of these threats necessitates a heavily militarized law enforcement.

• Does YN police have modern millitary equipment or outdated equipment

The Imperial Adjudicators are equipped with standard-issue military hardware which is often considered "modern"

The equipment of planetary law enforcement, as stated before, is entirely dependent on the planetary government. For poorer and more remote worlds their law enforcement can only be supplied with centuries-old equipment. For some planets, their law enforcement is equipped with highly advanced hardware that may even exceed the Adjudicators.

The setting is a horrid Frankenstein of numerous Sci-Fi Universes (predominantly 40k and Doctor Who/Faction Paradox).
NS Stats are for nerds. I don't use them and neither should you (if you must, use stats as an indicator of the "average Civilized World"). With that said, according to this index, the Victoran Empire is a Tier 10, Level 8, Type 9 civilization with a Power Comparator of 3.9

Note: Although this primary discusses the metropoly Miliz, I will from time to time divert to colonial police forces
• does your YN police have any millitary equipmentYes, including automatic weapons (SMG’s, AR’s, HMG’s, etc.) all the way to heavy armor (some police units utilize Centurion MBT’s) or COIN aviation.
• does the police have any chance of getting army equipment
Yes, it is a rather commonplace practice for the military to sell their surplus equipment to police or their equivalent in other shires. Sometimes this is done simply to “adopt out” a historic vehicle, as was the case with the HMS Courageous destroyer, which is currently the only guided missile destroyer in operation by a police force.
• Can the YN army intervene in the matter of policing in the time of crisis
Yes, it is rather commonplace for them to intervene in extreme cases where even the hypermilitarized police force fails.
• How usual is police militarization in YN
Extremely commonplace, even considered a necessity
• Is YN Police Heavily armed or lightly armed
As previously stated, even the relatively civilian Miliz is absurdly highly militarized when compared to foreign police forces, however the colonial policing forces, having to combat freedom fighters terrorists on a regular basis take the “militarized police” to the limit
• is YN SWAT fully millitaryized
There are spec ops police units, however most policemen already possess the necessary equipment and training to fill in that role, especially considering their lack of concern for the safety of hostages when dealing with hostage situations.
• Would YN government approve of Police militarization
Generally speaking the government, considering the ever-going extremely brutal system of judicial punishments, fully approves of this.
• What is the current stance on Police militarization in YN
It is a necessity, but one Lakans are more than willing to pay for
• does police militarization occur when YN government declares A state of an emergency
Yes, it is actually commonplace for police to act as local militia and/or supporting units in case of a nationwide emergency.
• Does YN police have modern millitary equipment or outdated equipment
Usually they possess what army has no need for anymore, however from time to time they land themselves some relatively modern things- like a prototype T-14 Armata MBT for whatever the hell reasons in use by some countryside police units in Goudkustaat. No one knows why it’s there, not even the Russians who have built that thing

• does your YN police have any military equipment? Define "Military equipment." If a sidearm, for example, was needed by both the military and a police department, they would probably get the same weapon. However, the needs of a police agency are always a consideration.
• does the police have any chance of getting army equipment? Yes, police might get military surplus.
• Can the YN army intervene in the matter of policing in the time of crisis? Yes, but this is uncommon.
• Is YN Police Heavily armed or lightly armed? Somewhat lightly - patrol officers almost always operate in teams of two or more. Each officer carries a pistol, a taser, pepper spray, baton(some departments are experimenting with tactical whips instead), and non-weapon gear. Each patrol team has a Beanbag Shotgun (Less Lethal) and a marksman rifle (in case of long-range threats).
• is YN SWAT fully millitaryized? Somewhat: they use automatics, flashbangs, armored vehicles, and the like. However, they do not use antipersonell explosives or other things not in line with the purpose of SWAT units.
• Would YN government approve of Police militarization? Much beyond the current extent, no.
• What is the current stance on Police militarization in YN? The debate focuses more on procedure and training than on equipment, but tactical whips stir a lot of controversy.
• does police militarization occur when YN government declares A state of an emergency? In more local areas, yes.
• Does YN police have modern military equipment or outdated equipment? Most equipment either is modern or does not need replacement.
