As the SFPPA does not repeal the genocide act then ex-post facto on genocide is still legal and there is no issue here or reason to vote nay on that basis.

Very well. As requested, these are my concerns with the Zoo and Aquarium Standards Act, as I wrote in the CP HQ.

The Zoo and Aquarium Standards Act, while fairly inert on the surface, does have potential for abuse. The commission's members are political appointees by the Minister of the Interior, and the commission has unlimited power to establish the standards and to appoint inspectors to enforce those standards, and to shut down anybody that doesn't comply with those standards, which means they could literally write whatever they want and send their own people to selectively persecute anybody that has something that they can define as an "aquarium".

The power of the commission is tempered by the fact that an overtly corrupt commission reflects poorly on the Minister of the Interior, an elected politician with political ties to her/his coalition and party and constituency, but still, there's a lot of room for corrupt food inspector garbage.
The history of progress is written in the blood of men and women who have dared to espouse an unpopular cause.

"Mr. Speaker, I, Senator Andie Calvin, rise on behalf of my constituency, Sänt-Aügustë, and the Libertarian Party of Aurentina, to speak in pride and in support for two of the bills at vote today, both for the Tariff Regulation Act, and the Fair Taxation Act.

Mr. Speaker, today we can see that simply this is the argument of whether regulation is effective, or not, in the Aurentine economy. Whether it is better for the government to be taxing purchases on essential goods, and spend the money at government level, or simply keep them tax-free, and let people do as they wish with their money. Whether it is better for the government to act as the protector of local business, or whether it should let people buy what they want at the price the market steps. It is simply today, intervention vs non-intervention, and frankly, statism vs liberty.

Mr. Speaker, I am incredibly proud to serve as a Libertarian senator in Aurentina, and liberty is something my views are built on. These acts are brilliant, as they recognize that the government does not serve well for the consumers and people, but instead make their lives harder financially in the process of having more power over the country's finances. I cannot bare to see families that struggle to get by because of high prices, families hit hard by the efforts of their own government. So long I have heard from those who like big government, that the state should function as the protector of the people, but Mr. Speaker, if the government robs the people of their wealth, and thus of their hard earned cash and prosperity also, is it protecting them?

For so long, tariffs and VATs have hurt hard families, and invaded on our civil liberties, by not just taking our wealth off us, but furthermore by limiting our choices, and so forth preventing us from pursuing our self interest. Mr. Speaker, yes, though these bills may pass, tax is still incredibly high, but I do tell the senate a great saying a constituent of mine told me the other day, an Aurentine slogan passed around by the freedom fighters of the country. The slogan states in English 'Justice isn't protectionism, but rather freedom, is compassion." Mr. Speaker, I hereby commend these bills to the senate."
