Personally, I congratulate the Nacradian President on their decision. Conversely, I wish to (unofficially) condemn the nations attempting to silence Nacrad and their embassies by force. The Nacradian embassies have every right to fly flags on their own buildings, even if the local religious regime disagrees with it. To be honest, this was not a difficult choice at all. I offer my most sincere apologies if I caused too much confusion. The reason I invited you here is to inform you of my identity. In other words, I am holding this press conference to come out. To come out, I believe, for someone vested as much power as I am, is not just a personal affair - to come out is to empower those who are like me, who are transgender, who are queer, who have questioned their identity. Today, by coming out, I believe that I can empower them - let them know that their struggles are real, let them know that their ability is not any bit diminished, let them know... they're not "abnormal" or "ill" or anything people tell them.

I would like to come out today as a transgender woman. As a transgender woman, then, I would prefer to be named "Hannah", and referred to as "Madam President". Of course, if you're used to avoiding gendered words when talking about me - go ahead. But please, this is my request, please respect my identity. Some of the journalist friends in this venue here are not exactly friendly to my identity - whom I sympathise and hope to educate - but regardless of your views, identities are not to be politicised. That one is not born a woman, but becomes a woman - and the same for men, or non-binary people, or any identities for that matter.

I remember vividly, that I have struggled with my identity since a young age. I remember wanting to wear dresses, wanting to grow my hair out, wanting to become a girl. It was not an easy way to be on - not when you were bullied, called slurs, and even excluded from entire friend groups - far from it. When some conservatives talk about identity politics nowadays, they talk about how 'being transgender is a choice', or 'being gay is a choice' - you get the point. But for me, who actually experienced life as a transgender person, I would definitely not have chosen being who I am if I were ever given the choice. Your identity, and your attraction, are every bit as innate as your sex - but every bit separate from each other.

But for as long as I remember, I have repressed my gender identity. I remember the last time I wore anything remotely feminine to school - it was in grade 1. I remember being bullied again. This time, it was not just mean words and pranks, those I were desensitised. This time, it was physical. I remember being beaten, then sent to the first aid station, only for the nurse to tell me to stop. Being just a naive 6-year-old, I obliged, picking out only the most masculine of clothes and banishing my true self to god-knows-where. My parents, too, did not support me - they called me a pervert, a deviant, a gender-bender, that I didn't even manage to discover my gender until I went to university.

In university, thankfully, I found a group of friends, friends who were queer, and friends who were allies. We started the QSA, the first of its kind in Nacrad. It was, in many ways, a passion project of us - to find a safe place amongst ourselves, and to offer one to our fellow classmates. This belief holds true today, 20 years later - This time, the safe space is not only a small room in the edge of the Student Union building. This time, the safe space is the entire nation. This time, the safe space is our homes, our campuses, our workplaces.

It was only 5 years ago that I finally stopped repressing myself - that I accepted myself first. But I was too scared to come out then - I had just been elected, and I didn't know what was the best political decision, or if my cabinet would even accept me. But regardless, I went to seek help and received it, a priviliege that not all of us have. But what I'm trying to say, here, is that there is no 'too late' to accept yourself. The only thing that matters is that you're willing to accept yourself first. And only then can you seek help.

And for everywhere to be a safe space so that everyone who needs it can seek help, I wager that its founder must also feel safe. And thanks to all of you who agree with me and agree, frankly, to etiquette, for making this wish come true.

But at the end of the day, Nacrad would never be the perfect safe space - I never claimed it to be one. The best we can do, is to make it a little better. And that, starts with respecting people's identities. Thank you so much for coming, and sorry for keeping you waiting.

OPEN STATEMENT REGARDING POLICY ON THE STATE OF 'NACRAD' AND THE 'TRANSGENDER' ISSUE

The position of the Polish People's Republic regarding the legitimacy of the Nacradian state will remain the same, no matter whether "Matthew Smith" or "Hannah Smith" remains in charge of the regime. The territory of the Republic of Nacrad is recognized by the Polish People's Republic as part of the territory of the People's Republic of China, which as far as the Polish United Workers' Party and state ministries of the People's Republic are concerned, remains the sole administrator of the provinces of Fujian, Guangdong, and Taiwan. No Nacradian leader is to be recognized as having any legitimate authority over the currently occupied provinces that make up the illegal continuation of the British colonial entity that Nacrad was spawned from. The attempt at virtue seeking done by the Nacradian regime is but another attempt at diverting international attention away from the fact that Nacrad is a manufactured state and an enemy of the freedom loving peoples of the world.

It is within the interests of the Polish United Workers' Party to support the group of progressive and socialist states which the People's Republic of China - despite misgivings between them and the Soviet Union - is a part of. The tendencies of the People's Republic of China may often be at odds with those of the Soviet Union and its fraternal states, but ultimately the PRC has been the recognized authority of the provinces of China since its foundation in 1949, and still remains the legitimate representative of the Chinese working people. Likewise, the Polish People's Republic scorns the unlawful and illegal occupation of Cyrenaica in Libya, which is consider to be a grave violation of the right to self-determination of the Libyan people. Adding to that, we should also not forget their current occupation of Jianxi province; former home of the People's Republic of Kongsi, which, formed by heroic rebels against the vestigial remains of the Kuomintang government, attempted to free the people of southern China from imperialism only to be crushed by the boots of capital.

The antagonism displayed by the Republic of Nacrad towards those nations that do recognize it however, is amusing and confounding. Against the wishes of nations that house Nacradian embassies, the Nacradian ambassadorial staff have continued to display imagery and propaganda that wholly disrespects and mistreats the authorities of their host nations (reactionary as many of them may be). This is not the sort of behaviour that ties political and military blocs together -- indeed, it would seem as though the Nacradians are inadvertently working towards weakening their bloc through their double-taking and exposing their own contradictions. Whilst the position of the Polish People's Republic is that the reactionary blocs that seek to undermine the freedom of the world's nations from imperialism and capitalism must be destroyed, it is peculiar that the Nacradian authorities are so keen on causing the collapse of these groups themselves through their abrasive behaviour. However, we are certainly not complaining.

The matter of the 'transgender' question is not one which the Polish People's Republic nor the Polish United Workers' Party has any business in dealing with, as it is best left to psychiatrists and doctors who are equipped to understand the phenomenon. As such, no legal protections for these individuals are poised to be brought into being, and likely will not be brought into existence as per the desires of the Polish people, who resolutely disagree with the majority of so-called "LGBT" beliefs and slogans. The government of the Polish People's Republic has no desire to alienate itself from the people that it represents through signing laws and enforcing ordinances that would only benefit a minority of mentally unfit people that for the most part are only the subject of scientific study. One does not turn people suffering from schizophrenia into a protected 'sexual minority', do they?

Ultimately, an imperialist puppet is an imperialist puppet - it does not matter who they are or what they look like. The most important thing is that whoever the leader of Nacrad is, whatever it is they believe; so long as they continue to allow the imperialist powers to use China as a springboard for the exploitation of the world's people, then Nacrad is an enemy of Poland. May the people of China find the courage and strength to once again struggle for their freedom from their exploiters, and reunify their nation under the red banner of the people.

Regarding the recent developments concerning the President of the Federal Republic of Nacrad, the Universal Commonwealth would not typically be inclined to provide any comment. It is our understanding that matters of gender identity are a personal issue, and not one that should come remotely close to provoking any kind of international incident. Yet, it would appear that not all states display such reason. A few notable state actors, typically of a reactionary-theocratic inclination, seem to have taken a remarkable degree of umbrage to what is otherwise a fairly unnotable occurrence. They have spewed an exceptional amount of vitriol against the Nacradian president apparently over her personal decision to express a different gender identity, a most disproportionate and embarrassing response from supposedly responsible and respectable administrations. In these reactions, we see the true nature of the religious reactionaries that control these nations, and it is the exposure of this nature that interests us.

The petty, spiteful and cruel nature of the reactionaries has been laid bare for all the world to see, exposed by their own pathetic words and deeds. They are empty, hollow creatures, sustained purely by irrational, gleeful hatreds. Their minds are corrupted by the poison of ignorance that tends to accompany devotion to the absurd metaphysical nonsense that composes religious doctrines, doctrines that serve to perpetuate and justify the tyrannies of their socio-economic systems. This latest display is yet another example of the moral and intellectual bankruptcy of these systems, and clearly demonstrates the vicious sadism of their devotees who have nothing left but spiteful fearmongering.

The Universal Commonwealth has no real love for the capitalist state of Nacrad, nor for the individual tasked with managing said state on behalf of the Nacradian ruling class. But while we may hold the system of exploitation and domination that holds sway in Nacrad in great disdain, it is nothing compared to the unbridled contempt that we hold for the reactionaries, who uphold systems of similar turpitude yet far greater cruelty and brutality. While the continued existence of either is deplorable, the reactionaries represent an abomination that is far more worthy of complete and utter annihilation.

The subway station shutters its gates as the last train pulls away from the station, but work begins at its earnest now. Buildings that flank the Federal Square had had their interiors decorated now, but the square itself has yet to receive the same treatment. Trucks and workers arrive at the scene, setting up the requisite barricades around the square to transform it into a public square fit for pedestrians in its earnest, but not yet actually putting them in place.

The workers separated into teams to decorate the 4 main buildings around the square, namely the Presidential Building, the Parliament Building, the Ministry of the Interior building, and the Ministry of Defence building. Structural pylons were built, bolted onto the designated spots of the buildings' facades, as work continued through the night. Flags were hung on the scaffolds, and at the same time temporary structures were built for the press to film at a higher angle.

The day is breaking now, the roadblocks on the side of the road. Built as the epicenter of Nacrad's road network, at the junction between King's Road and Queen's Road, these roadblocks would be certain to disrupt traffic massively if they were activated, which is why the roads would stay open until just a few hours before the ceremony.
