Reserved for IC Information, for the Second GS/Knockout Rounds.

Quebec & Shingoryeo is a gigantic nation of 94 million people located in northwestern Arrosia.

The land that is now known to be part of Quebecois Realms is inhabited for millennia by the indigenous people present in the region. In the year 1404, the fleet of Joseonite exiles from the would sail into the so-called RL-verse move into areas that nowadays constitute the Acadie province and the capitol of Joongyeong, where the kingdom was founded in the same year by Henri I, who negotiated treaty of coexistence among all peoples of the nation, whether indigenous or Koreanophone.

Over the subsequent centuries, the nation would grow in size and technology. With the quiet incorporation of the neighbouring peoples, the expansion of maritime trade between Atlantian Oceania and Rushmore (and to some degree Tyran and Esportiva), subsequent industrialisation of the country's industries, and inconsistent operations of the interrealm portal, the Quebecois Empire would grow to incorporate territories across many regions.

The Empire, while formed by military warfare and supported by its allied nations (see: Gatchingerrak Union's constituent nations), was an odd one of own. It did not suppress the peoples or the cultures, but focused on the equal standings between the locals (this being mostly the ruling elites of the territories) who would fall under the mostly similar administrative and economic frameworks (citation needed for latter btw). Thus, the Empire was stood to be a short-term option with nations fostered to develop their own, nationalistic path over time. With the growing inequalities faced domestically at home, and the overseas territories becoming increasingly unmanageable in economic terms by the early-1900s, decolonisation and the further bloc-ification of the Quebecois Empire and its allies were inevitable and encouraged.

Eventually, the Empire would turn into that of the Quebecois Commonwealth, a loose political and economic union of two-dozen nations, with the process finished by year 1949. The nation, now without a glitter (and grime) of an empire, had to embark on their own path to redefine themselves. Continued encouragement of immigration from both Commonwealth and non-Commonwealth nations, which had coincided the postwar decades' excitement and calls for cultural liberalisation, would further diversify the nation. At the same time the resilient strength of the nation's economy, even after all the booms-and-busts of economic cycles, nationalisation and privatisation and re-nationalisation policies, would too ensure that Quebec and Shingoryeo, just over a century after the nation-defining Southern Rushmori War and the de-markation of the Quebecois Empire, and just under a decade after historical Foxchester Declaration, is still a darn good place to live, if slightly expensive.

Quebec and Shingoryeo is a federal parliamentary democracy and semi-constitutional monarchy, currently led by Christine II as the head of state. There are three official languages - English, French and Korean - with local indigenous languages spoken in regional capacity. Quebec and Shingoryeo has one of the largest economies in both regions, which is built upon its strengths in heavy industry, finance and agriculture.

As the seat of the former Quebecois Empire and the current Quebecois Commonwealth, Quebec & Shingoryeo has stood as a major power in Anaia and Atlantian Oceania. It has also maintained its historical status as one of the major international powers in culture, science and philosophy - a feat achieved partly through the existence of Quebecois Commonwealth and its geopolitical location between Anaia, Atlantian Oceania and Rushmore, but also through long history of social and cultural homogeneity that originated from the nation's founding day. That said the nation, once an active participant in international wars, has stayed peaceful and relatively conflict-less, and is expected to uphold the past forty years of peacetime.
Some Questions

Travelling to Quebec and Shingoryeo is a fun, multi-planar experience of own. So, with this in mind, here are some travel tips you could use during the course of the Olympics:

1. Laws, laws and laws.

Quebec and Shingoryeo is known to be a fairly liberal country in terms of certain laws, and it's partly true. That is probably why you are smelling a bit of marijuana and may be drinking too much on an outdoor patio of a local delicatessen while walking down the street.

The minimum age to purchase and consume substances vary in what substance - 14 for alcohol, 16 for marijuana, and 21 for tobacco. Possession and consumption of said substances (which also include a narrow list of recreational drugs) outdoors are predictably legal as well, though some boomers and fitness maniacs may openly judge you if you do them in a park or somewhere that is public.

There is a total ban on indoor public smoking, however, and this extends to sporting events in general. Drinking on indoor venues, while not prohibited, will be frowned upon. Besides, why would you drink indoors when there is just a pub down the road with way cheaper and better quality Anju? Drugs trade, unless they are from a legal vendor and for legal substance, is banned. So if you are a local or a tourist, you are more than welcome to go to a state-owned Cannabiscorp or a co-op store and buy stuff instead.

What is no different than other past hosting nations are firearms. Firearm ownership, let alone use, is heavily restricted in Quebec and Shingoryeo with exceptions only given to those whose work requires it (e.g. shooters, pentathletes, some members of the police and the military), or those who have likely survived months and several dozen pages of the application process for a hunting rifle. For the sake of this competition, let's just assume that it's probably not a good idea to not bring your favourite Glock or Colt .45 to Quebecois soil.

2. Quebecois Pound (Q£) is the national currency. The exchange rate is roughly Q£1 = NSD 2.00. Foreign credit cards will be accepted into most bank ATMs.

3. As seen above, Quebec and Shingoryeo has three official languages - English, French and Korean - with local indigenous language(s) also used on a regional capacity. While all three languages will be used in an official capacity, the language dynamic there is a bit more complicated - the best way to describe this is by using a quote from Sylvain IV 'The Thinker', the great-grandfather of current Christine II - 'I speak English to a Banker, French to a Dancer, Korean to a Thinker, and the Original Tongue to a God.' In the Northwestern part of Quebec, English and Korean are primarily spoken.

4. Quebecois people are usually known to be talkative, celebratory and most importantly blunt, and they will rarely apologise or remain polite unless on close capacity. While those in need of help or directions will always be helped, and you will be set for a long time after that, it is expected that the help is asked first by those to whom this may concern. That said, once the help is sought out and all goes well, you will be set for the rest of your time here, and may have found yourself a lifelong mate to come stay over or drink with.

5. The rights of freedom of speech and assembly are guaranteed. That said, this does not mean freedom from consequences.

In adherence to the security protocol established back back in the Games of the 16th Olympiad, there will be strict security checks when entering the venues and team hotels, with additional personnel placed across the city. Unlike with the Olympics, however, there will be more lax security regulations -- flares, obscenely large banners and limited display of hooliganism will be tolerated. Displays of hate speech will not be tolerated, however.

6. The question of religion is a complicated one, perhaps even more so than languages. Traditionally, Roman Catholicism, Mahayana Buddhism, Anglicanism, and Indigenous religions are considered as four religious pillars of state and are viewed with particular interest by the state and people. All four pillars, as well as other minor religions, incorporate various elements of native shamanism and folk traditions and do not always follow the rules from Vatican or Canterbury, something that has complicated the authority-to-authority relations over the Interrealm portal.

The rights of religion are unquestioned here, and this will remain the same throughout the course of your stay in the country. People tend to be careful being aware of other person's religions though, and their way of addressing it is usually not asking about them. At least not on the first impression/moment, or else they are viewed as rude.

7. If you need police, fire or most importantly medical help, please call 777. (Yeah, it's literally 777).

Visitors and athletes of delegations will be able to receive excellent and prompt care from the city's hospitals and walk-in clinics under the People's Healthcare Services (PHS). Specialists may take a little bit longer time to reach, but for the most part, will be there for you in time. Those interested in consulting services re: traditional medicine will be given referrals, but those likely require a friend or two, or a local jack, who knows one.

8. Food and alcohol here should be fine, if slightly spicy. Influenced by the indigenous fare and the influences of haute cuisine coming from the Joseonian settlers of old, the Quebecois cuisine is largely based upon rice, and other diverse kinds of grains, vegetables, and meats. In this part of Calania, moose, lamb and caribou are known to be particularly popular, which have long survived the wave of delicacies that are no longer eaten.

They are also known for their intensive use of spices, sauces and pastes. Seafood is extremely popular across the country, though their affordability remains up in the air unless you reside on the West or East Coast - more inland parts usually consume freshwater fare instead. Quebecois do not have a particularly picky taste of alcohol in general, though what alcohol you drink usually depends on your cultural background and socioeconomic demographics. Smoking culture is massive here, and while cigarette smoking is very slowly declining over the years, marijuana's prominence in society is not something that's being challenged anytime soon.

Welcome to Quebec & Shingoryeo!

Hello! The Basketball Quebec (BQ), with assistance from the Royal Quebecois Olympic Committee and the Imperial Sporting Council, would like to welcome the final twenty teams ready to embark on remaining stages of the quest for the ever-elusive International Basketball Championships. For this year's IBC, the BQ will be using six venues from six cities across the province of Yoseo, the westernmost province of the Arrosian nation. The province, which primarily enjoys more temperate weather out northwest, tundra for eastern two-thirds, and even tropical in the Montevicio Principality, is a province of diverse cultures, economic self-subsistence (especially in agriculture), progressivism and water-based sports especially surfing.

It is also the part of country where basketball holds great popularity, partly thanks to its early adoption of the sport, and also due to the ready availability of basketball as a street-friendly sport for warmer parts of the country unlike hockey. With its longstanding history of basketball culture, with two QBL and three QWBL teams in their respective leagues, many legendary QIS basketball powerhouses, it was a natural decision for the BQ to file an emergency bid with Yoseo province serving as the candidature region of the competition. Needless to say it is proud to host the competition.

Leggett Family Arena, Bonneville (cap. 6,000) -- Bonneville State University (QIS)
A medium-sized city of 400,000 known for its scenic mountain views, clean and compact downtown and underrated cultural and arts scene. Located halfway on the railway line between Prince Eric and Fort Lowe, and also between former and Jolbonopolis, the city has been growing steadily over the last fifty years with the city's growing reputation as an outdoor lovers' paradise, and continued migration of people from Montevicio and Prince Eric.

For most part it still retains its country facade, with the Bonneville State University, a local major junior hockey team, and the Bonneville Athletics, AAA-level affiliate to Prince Eric, being the major draw. Leggett Family Arena, a 6,000-seat arena that is located on the campus, is a 2010-arena that's starting to show its age, but is mostly fine. On winters it gets difficult to travel across the city, especially due to its low temperatures and high snowfall, but with its convenient location to Downtown and the airport, as well as the August competition date, should instead give the visitors a very convenient time to visit.

Anna Wylie-Bressner Arena, Jolbonopolis (cap. 17,000) -- Jolbonopolis Winterhawks (QWBL)
Inland capital of Yoseo-Manitoba province, Jolbonopolis is a dynamic city of 2.5 million people home to multiple sides. It also boasts manufacturing industry best displayed by the presence of Bruenig, considered the home of the Quebeco-Shingoryeoite country music, and has an ethnically diverse population with its strong street culture. In the recent years the city has gradually risen from its grim image to a more positive one emphasised by its growth, the successful co-hosting of the 17th Summer Olympics a good testament to this as well.

Anna Wylie-Bressner Arena is a 17,000-seater with particularly high roof and latest, multi-leveled jumbotron in middle of the arena, the ABA is home to Jolbonopolis Winterhawks' successful volleyball and women's basketball teams. Located approximately ten minutes walk away from the UCJ campus, and with two metro stations available, the ABA is also used for concerts or other functions in case the MMC is full and the demand is not there for the gig to be held at the Coliseum. Its acoustics have been reworked and amenities refurbished, including the doubling of luxury boxes, in the past two years leading up to the occasion, and should be having no trouble hosting the IBC matches.

Cannabiscorp Centre, Montevicio (cap. 15,800) -- Montevicio Lakers (QBL)
Montevicio is a major, coastal city located on the southwestern tip of Yoseo region approximately 350 kilometres and 4 hours west of Jolbonopolis. Famous for its Mediterranean climate with hot, dry weather on year-round basis, it is traditionally considered to be the sole beacon of warmth in a nation known for its winter. While a principality dating back 400 years it is still a young city, with its incorporation and recognition as the protectorate of the Shingoryeoite state only coming the mid-1870s. The subsequent railway connection to Joongyeong, combined with the opening of the Monte Vincenzo Casino and the development of the Montywood of commercial television and cinema, have expanded Montevicio into a major economic and tourist location. For more seafaring tourists, ever-famous Santa Ana Beach will be their place, with the multi-ride pier separating the two halves of the 8-mile beach that is considered 'Home of Quebecois Surfing'.

In terms of sports Montevicio has multiple sports powerhouses with the QBL's Lakers and QBO Dodgers being the biggest names. In the winter, the Lakers are at centre of the attention, with the twelve-time QBL champions rivalling Twin Cities Celtics and the traditional Shingoryeoite Superclassique sides of Montreal Koreana and CSKA Quebec for their league dominance. The Cannabiscorp Centre, which is currently on the schedule to being replaced by a shinier, steeper 20,000-seater in near-future (note: give or take twenty years), is still a first-class venue with regular presence of high-profile guests, especially of Montywood, on the courtside seats.

TransWest Arena, Prince Eric (cap. 15,000) -- Prince Eric Fire (QWBL)
Home to the biggest port in Yoseo region and the west coast, the city is a beautiful city with the city-meets-nature landscape (helps to have mountains and ski slopes on background, and hundreds of islands to the north), small-town feeling and locals' obsession towards leisure and wellbeing. It is also one of the fastest growing in the country at 550,000 residents, and has seen huge influx of immigration, something that has brought out some tensions among local and regional circles.

TransWest Arena is a modest, twenty-year old 15,000-seater that serves the city particularly well. Home to both the Prince Eric Fire of QWBL and the Orca of QHL, it is a modern arena that has slightly dated luxury boxes and decent range of in-arena dining options. But its particular strength is in location. Located in heart of Prince Eric, it is bordered by the Old Town neighbourhood and Gagetown district that's known for recreation to its west, and the Salamantic Central railway terminal directly to its east. While that might not be a particular standout elsewhere, relatively spread out nature of this port city, whose transportation methods requires passengers to use its monorail for the inner core, as well as the commuter rails to Swangard County to the east and the Sea-to-Sun County north of the harbour, it's the best you could ask for.

The sport of basketball arrived in the island in 1935, where a group of young people from the rich sons returning from Europe founded a team called El Caballeros Blancos (current Atletico San Rimo) in San Rimo, and then founded a group of young people in the capital A team called El Halcones (the current Deportivo de Halcon), the teams played friendly exhibition matches to spread the game in the cities, after their match in Costa de Palmeras, a group of sons of fishermen (as the Costa de Palmeras was a small fishermen’s city) thought of establishing their own team, and the same thing happened with the railway workers (Locomotora de Kronbia) They decided to establish their own team, in 1936 the four team captains met and decided to start a tournament under the name Copa Kronbia.

Official languages: French, Polish and English
Population: 2 459 048
Team Nickname: Tapirs

Short Nation History:

Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer

Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer is a city state of 78 square kilometers located in Anaia and founded in lhe 18th century by Jean-Jacques Le Boucanier (John James The Buccaneer), a pirate of unknown North or Central Calanian origin who decided to retire from piracy and found his own nation south of his country of origin. Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer has emerged in the 20th century as a merchant city state which favors capitalism. The current ruler of Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer is Prince Pierre-Alexandre 1er de Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer, a direct descendant of Jean-Jacques Le Boucanier. Elections are outlawed in Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer. The national animal is the tapir, which you can see wandering in our streets.

Burnham-on-Stove

Burnham-on-Stove is a city state of 54 square kilometers located in Anaia. It used to be a district whitin Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer and it's named after William Robert Burnham, a pirate and friend of Jean-Jacques Le Boucannier. In september 1923, several communist districts of Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer, mostly of English origin, declared their independence and formed the new nation of Burnham-on-Stove. The Burnhamese Communist Party is the only authorized party in Burnham-on-Stove. The national animal is also the Tapir.

Nova Calania

500: The first documented permanent Aztec settlements in Nova Calania dates from around 500 AD.

1748: Explorers of Polish origins came to the area just south of Krytenia and southwest of Ibixa and founded the town of Ostrow Krolewski on the shores of the Ocean of Ayes. They named the area Odlegla Ziemia (Distant Land).

1760-1820: Odlegla Ziemia expanded southwest and further inland on the east.

1793: Jean-Jacques Le Boucanier established his colony in what is known today as Vieux-Saint-Jean-Jacques (Old St. Jean-Jacques) or Vieille-Ville (Old Town) just northeast of Cardenao. This is the foundation of Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer. The city state expanded on both side of the Stove river.

1818: Explorers of Asian origin came to the area between Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer and Odlegla Ziemia and founded the city state of Shanzhou. This stopped Odleglian expansion southwest of their capital.

1851-54: The Aztecs, helped with some mercenaries from Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer and Burnham-on-Stove, attacked Odlegla Ziemia and took back 1/3 of Odlegla Ziemia's land that was previously stolen from the Aztecs.

1923: Districts of Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer located north of the Stove river (mostly English speaking) declared their independence and formed a new communist state under the name of Burnham-on-Stove.

2023: Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer and Burnham-on-Stove united to form a new sporting alliance. Both nations remained independents on all aspects, except they shared a joint national team in all sports.

2025: On may 15th 2025, leaders from Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer, Burnham-on-stove, Odlegla Ziemia, Shanzhou and the Nova Calanian Aztec Confederacy united together to form the United States of Nova Calania. Unlike Saint-Jean-Jacques et Burnham-on-Stove, it's not just a sporting alliance. It's a policical, economic, military and sporting alliance.

Part 0 / Roster – Second is good, second is fine. Despite the fact that “Gold means you won, Bronze means you made it”. Silver is still great!

Chief Aviator Eveline Gwen Tracer Hepburn “Fate of Existence and the Omniverse” Ellen Trixie Caitlin Foxworthy Avril Verlene Celinda Sammy Doris T-Rev Oxton Arielle Lindall Leslie Vitesse Allison Hello there, Lovelies! Well, it is certainly that time of the year again, haha! Ohhh yes, the 42nd IBC, for us which this is our 11th season. We have definitely came a long way and I will be honest, I did not expect us to find success this quickly! Don’t get me wrong, I am not having doubts on my team, nor am I being pessimistic which is pretty much the opposite of a Valentian. Given how it has been like with World Cup, you will perhaps understand as to where I am going with this as well, of course. Still, we won! Oh, yes! We won for IBC 40, and we got a cool 2nd place for IBC 41. That is absolutely fine in my books, and I would like to give my applause and jubilations to the five that made it possible. They earn a rest!

As it is tradition, we will be swapping over to the next batch of 5 players. In other words, the mixed team of 3 gentlemen and 2 ladies! The all-men team will be taking a break (well, as long as nothing happens), while the all-ladies will be prepared to make substitutions. Really though, I do hope that no one will get hurt – for both the Valentians and the others that we have played up against. In the meantime, as it is typical of me, I will be going on my very own adventures. I won’t say what it is yet, and once again, it is not going to disrupt the event and the games themselves! Let’s also see what the other teams we will be up against. Maybe Drawkland, hehe. We have quite a friendly rivalry, after all! It is by some sheer divine luck that we have been matched up against each other both in basketball and football! … Yeap, that’s about it for now! See you all soon and on the fields, and take care of Gwen’s Angels!

How far can this team truly go?

Throughout the past editions of the International Basketball Championship, The Brigadiers have time and time again proved that they were a, quite surprisingly, good team. From their debut back in the 39th edition up to the previous, this team was able to reach the Round of 16. The consistent performance has earned them the rank of eighth best team in the multiverse. However, to some, consistent Round of 16 appearances weren't good enough. And the ABF agreed with that. Never settle for "good" when you can be better. But the new double group stage format for this year's edition would prove to be tricky. Will The Brigadiers be able to push forward better than before? Or will they crumble?

Pritrevian National Basketball Team Prepares for Historic International Debut

For the first time in its history, the Pritrevian National Basketball Team, AKA the Bison, is set to take the court on the international stage at the 42nd International Basketball Championship. Although not the nation’s most popular sport (ice hockey takes that position) and without a professional league of its own in Pritev, the nation is extremely proud of its young basketball team qualifying for international competition for the first time. Led by veteran Head Coach Juraš Istokhn of the University of Bekzar, this gritty, defense-first squad is prepared to battle. The team's defensive capabilities are anchored by University of Krešta 6’11” center Mrusl Polukhn and fiery captain and power forward Danir Vralkukhn, who plays in the most premier basketball league in the world, the Parandrasian Basketball League (PBL). The Bison's hard-nosed playing style relies on constant screens and relentless rebounding. The Bison may be newcomers, but under the hardened eyes of long-time collegiate coaches Juraš Istokhn, Egregor Orkhukhn and Orseni Juragakan, they’re aiming to leave a mark. When playing Pritrev, do not expect to leave the match without some bruises. Looking forward to the games, one must keep an eye on Small Forward Ilor Purandj from the University of Bekzar, whose talented defense and status as the son of the leader of the Sarmiz Equality Party makes him irresistible to the spotlight.

Nation Information
Full Nation Name: The Republic of Pritrev
Demonym: Pritrevian
Capital: Bekzar
Trigramme: PRI
Head of State: Prime Minister Dughan Vruikhn
Official languages: Pritrevian (a dialect of Rugani)
Population: 4,270,000

National History

In 1628, the lands of what today is Pritrev were conquered by the Vagrei Empire, stretching across the Kavar continent. The empire largely held strong in the Rugani speaking region (what is now the nations of Pritrev, Zarlav, and Melnkar) until the 1890s when violent revolts broke out across the territories. These were quashed, but reignited again from 1908 to 1911 when the Vagrei Empire unsuccessfully attempted to invade the only independent nation on the continent, Nyírszín. From the end of the failed war to 1921, strikes and protests were common across the Vagrei Empire with the aims of gaining national independence or better workers' rights. This came to a head in 1921, when workers in the capital of the Vagrei Empire, Vašdal, revolted and established the Vagreoiji's Workers' Republic. Immediately, the Rugani-speaking people, alongside other peoples (the Parvinians, Cezmarokans, Tzarakans) declared independence with mostly peaceful success. The home province of the Vagrei Empire, the new Vagreoiji Workers' Republic, and the province of Iramitza to the north entered into bloody conflict from 1921 to 1925. In 1921 the Rugani Kingdom was founded with the idea of Ruganism, which entailed the national unification of the Rugani speaking people. However, the King Rigor I, in 1924, due to border raids and encroachments by monarchist and communist forces in the northern civil war, centralized the state further in the capital city Karvaš, which is now today the capital of the Republic of Melnkar. After an assassination attempt on the King in 1929, tensions between the Melnkari, Zarlavi, and Pritrevians reached a boiling point and bloody civil war broke out in 1931. In 1934, the war ended with the creation of the new Kingdom of Melnkar (lasted a few months until becoming a republic), the Republic of Zarlav, and the Republic of Pritrev. From 1934 to 1948, Pritrev was relatively peaceful, consolidating its newfound oil wealth while attempting to coax taxes out of local nationalist militias that fought in the civil war. In 1949, Melnkar occupied the Kaštari oil fields and Pritev's government, which had largely been in support of centrist industrialism, was toppled in the 1950 elections putting in power the right-wing Order and Development Party. Immediately after creating a government, the Prime Minister Veselin Drovokhn declared war on Melnkar and moved to occupy all of the oil fields. In 1955, the ruling government invaded Melnkar again, successfully annexing all oil fields on their border, handicapping the Melnkari economy. Despite the brief rule of the Libertarian Party from 1958 to 1962, the country has been dominated by the ruling Order and Development Party since 1950, which faced its largest test after the Bekren Scandal which led to the removal of Prime Minister Orseni Sedevukhn and the rise of Dughan Vruikhn leading to the slim victory of the ODP at this year's (1971) general elections.

Demonym: Warkusian(s)

About the team: The Warkus National Basketball Team goes by the nickname 'the Garnets'. The name comes from the garnets in the northern mountainous part of Warkus, which is the section of the country where basketball is the most popular sport. The people of this region generally have more Nordic-sounding surnames and use some (modified) loanwords from Nordic languages, such as 'ffial' for 'mountain' (from fjall) and 'ffreuer' for housewife (from housefreyja/freyja). The team, however, contains players from many different provinces in Warkus.

The team plays a moderately defensive game and relies heavily on their ability to close out and contest shots from opposing teams. Their expectations for this IBC? Well, they're an unknown quantity and the Warkus teams of past haven't exactly set the world on fire. But the players seem to be gelling together well and coach Sean Thrower has a solid reputation as a motivator, so hopefully they'll be able to a score a few upset wins.

The United Autonomous Provinces of the Visayas Islands, commonly called Visayas Islands, is a federal parliamentary constitutional monarchy nation in the Asian part of the Tinga. The Visayas Islands covers 71,503 square kilometers and has has an estimated population of 21,155,014. The Visayas Islands comprises of 15 autonomous provinces, 3 autonomous provincial districts, a metropolitan district, 6 major islands, an autonomous independent state, and 3 disputed territories.

Basketball is also the 2nd most popular sport in the Islands due to its boom in the 1950s. Introduced by Visayan returnees from Manila and the American teachers in the 20th century. It has been growing alongside football due to the military and local tournaments flourishing in the Islands. The Campeonato Bahandi is the sole professional league in Visayan basketball reprsenting each province to claim the nation's glory

After the match, the team went to the fans and sing together a patriotic ballad called, "Visayas". It was written by Ramiro Enríquez, a schoolteacher and a composer in Antique, whose song gave it to the late Jacinto "Jas" Narvaja, who gave life to the song. It wasn't intended to have that in the first but whem Nonoy Zarzuela sang the opening lines, the whole crowd joining in, it goes to basketball and until now, every sport as a post-match victory song.

THE FIRE
Riandera's national basketball team

Riandera, officially the Oriental Republic of Riandera, is a country in Southeast Aszya and Osiania, between the Barat and Pasifika oceans. Comprising over 17,000 islands, including Sumatra, Java, Sulawesi, Borneo and New Guinea, Riandera is the largest archipelagic state in Aszya. By the 7th century CE, the Srivijaya naval kingdom thrived on trade, adopting Hindu and Buddhist influences. In 1512, Europeans began arriving in the archipelago. In the late 18th century, the Dutch East Indies was established as a nationalised colony. During World War II, the Japanese invasion and occupation of the Indies ended Dutch rule and encouraged Riandera's independence movement. The conflict lasted until 1949, when the Dutch recognised Rianderan independence following international pressure. After independence, Riandera turned from a democratic to authoritarian communist state, leading to a violent anti-communist purge led by the Army's Major General Yusuf that killed at least 500,000 people. Riandera was the country worst affected by the 1997 Asian financial crisis, which brought out widespread discontent with the New Order's corruption and political suppression and ultimately ended Yusuf's rule.

Basketball was introduced to Riandera in the late 1970's by foreign tourists, and quickly garnered popularity nationwide. The Rianderan Basketball League (RBL) was created in 1988.

THE JUVEN BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION PRESENTS...

Image

THE NATIONAL BASKETBALL TEAM OF JUVENCUS

Information about Juvencus:
Capital: Pomena
Population: 130,656,702 ethnic Juven, with a total of 150,048,720 including naturalised immigrants.
Nickname: I Cavalli(The horses)
Demonym: Juven
Country Code: JUE

Basketball is one of the more popular sports in Juvencus, but unlike most others it has found most of its appeal among a specific set of linguistic groups, more prominently the Râu as well as Santmat-language speakers spread across the nation. The history of the sport is a bit complex, long thought to be brought by some distant place from the multiverse by famed teacher and sports scientist Ladislau Izabal in the early 1900's and since then it has spread mostly among Santmat-speaking communities like a fire. Mostly treated like a hobby or college sport, professional basketball has earned quite a bit of traction in Juvencus however despite the lucrative deals made with neighboring Oscioru in the creation of the Juvenoscioru League, the only major professional and franchise league in the nation, it has a long way to go. Sporting-wise i Cavalli are known for their talent, speed and tenacity on the court unlike no other, as well as their talking smack.

Manager: Eugen Cismaru (Age: 65)

Eugen Cismaru is an experienced coach with a lot of experience in coaching in the Juvenoscioru league, as well as college leagues when he was younger. Known for its traditionalist Juven style of play, he wants to implement a fast-paced game relying on speed or accurate long-range shooting. Known as a temperamental coach, he is known to make multiple substitutions inside the matches and changing strategies according to the flow of the game.

PG: Pau Rovira (Age: 26) (Height: 6'1") (Weight: 180 lbs) (Poma Gladiators) #2

Squad comments: The entire squad has changed, courtesy of Eugen Cismaru's keen eye to refreshing teams when need be. As for talents to look out for, Xavier Iniesta is known as a player with a high basketball IQ, known for orchistrating attacks as well as his high versatility and helpfulness in the defensive backline. Canzaria Hoopers' small forward is a leading and commanding presence on the court and is a player that will be looked after a lot. Evan Martin Jackson's decision to rep the red & gold is surely a relief for the team, perhaps the league's best center, a tank that nobody can stop. Lastly, Leandro Mutu, the Snakes' powerguard with high explosivity and insane ball control, he is known to perform really well in high stakes situations and turn things around pretty much solo.

However, talent is overflowing through the entire squad, which is why they even ended up here in the first place. The goal is to keep it young so the fresh attacking ideal of Cismaru can be manifested properly and bring out the necessary results and healthy growth the team desperately needs.

Stadium Info

Image
Ashmark Arena, New Hind City

Ashmark Arena, was established in the early days of the First Baskar Kumar Presidentship. It was established as the office of Indussean Basketball Federation and was named IBF Arena. A basketball court was later built making it the nation's home arena. Nathaniel Ashmark, the president of Indussean Basketball Federation then decided to renovate the arena and turn it into an international standard stadium with enough features and courts. Ashmark is known to be the one who lead the Basketball Renaissance in Indusse. Records state that basketball would've not seen light in Indusse if Ashmark wasn't around. The renovation of the arena was completed a week after the unexpected death of Nathaniel Ashmark, who died in a car accident while driving from Riveria to New Hind City. The President of Indusse decided to name the newly renovated arena as Ashmark Arena in memorial of Late. Nathaniel Ashmark and his contribution to Indussean Basketball.

The Arena is located to the eastern end of New Hind Sports City, the same sport city which is home to Indussean Sports Federations and the Soccer and Tennis home grounds. With a maximum capacity of 22,000 spectators, the stadium only allows 20,000 spectators per match. The Arena contains the head office of IBF, three practice courts, twenty two rooms for the players or guests to stay, special VIP galleries, Press rooms, five seperate dressing rooms with one specially reserved for the home team.

Arenas
Aminey Court Central (2500)
Ciudad Miradela (3150)
Korth Basketini Maethorudin (2200)
Korth Senorendhin (1975)

Centre
Muzasahuth Slunakidhen (27, M, right, 195 cm, 96 kg) Miradela Silvers
Zhauthati Sauzilraundhen (23, M, left, 194 cm, 98 kg) Gehrenna Lions
Ene Rozmauhaudhen (23, F, left, 195 cm, 90 kg) Maethoru Banshees

As you might have realised, the Ko-orenite league is on the small side. Not team-wise, we have 48 of them, but player-wise: heights don't run up to over two metres that often. And so centres between 190 and 200 are pretty viable, and they've learned their timing and positioning to battle with taller players (who don't always play centre, as you'll see). And that means the players selected are Slunakidhen, a handy Silvers player and a quick learner, Sauzilraundhen, who (for better or worse) is a little more confident. The two don't necessarily count as the best players in the league, so beyond a few rebounds we don't expect the power of our team to come from this position.

Power Forward
Buford Oldlin (23, M, right, 219 cm, 130 kg) Ansonville City Athletic
Guendolina Canton (33, F, right, 176 cm, 71 kg) Ferrovente Tazers
Auzujuo Auzuten (21, F, right, 195 cm, 97 kg) Ouleux Sapphires

Oldlin already is one of the best 3-5 players in Ko-oren, on top of that he's just 23, and he's already leading Ansonville. He's well over two metres. We might have struck gold with this guy. Meanwhile Canton has been reduced to backup though we can't overlook her past achievements - she can still put the team on her back if needed. Auzuten is a fairly tall, very technical option, if we have to match teams on skill rather than blocks/steals and pure will.

Small Forward
Takatomi Tsuljozen (23, M, right, 180 cm, 74 kg) Couziers Centurions
Copan Hodizhin (23, M, right, 183 cm, 71 kg) Ferrovente Tazers
Noa Hoinjodhin (25, F, right, 188 cm, 86 kg) Miradela Silvers

Tsuljozen is a rare vibes-first player, with a box of tricks few Ko-orenites have ever thought of mastering. If we need something more grounded, there's Hodizhin, not as imposing a figure - and perhaps less of a presence on the court - but both are genuine top 10 players. Hoinjodhin is a tougher, bigger gal so if we need to drag a 2-point lead to the buzzer, that's what she does. There will be times where two or even three of them play but at different positions: we've never really cared about the PG-SG-SF-PF-C thing. If we have a player that works for what we're trying to achieve on the hardwood, they play.

Shooting Guard
Kazusa Jorasen (25, F, left, 180 cm, 75 kg) Katashi Asahi
Thokhihek Khenehugun (22, M, right, 180 cm, 83 kg) Montelo Snipers
Ignace Raymon (30, M, right, 198 cm, 106 kg) Anarcourt Railways

Jorasen's the creative mind of the team, climbing to be a top 3 player in the league. She's not the tallest, but she can distribute the ball - and due to lack of height steal from carelessly dribbling taller players every now and again - but whenever she touches the ball, someone will be in a scoring position soon. Usually it's one of the players on her team - not always - but again, she's a top 3 player. Khenehugun doesn't have that creative gift, but he's proven himself to be a more reliable three point shooter. Raymon is a stronger, taller, more physical player, the kind we have to select for certain situations, but we're not sure about his playing time.

Point Guard
Emuk Arzhendin (31, M, right, 176 cm, 96 kg) Senoren Diamonds
Xiana Lazo (29, F, right, 182 cm, 79 kg) Montelo Snipers
Aimuci Avobea (23, M, right, 198 cm, 95 kg) Gehrenna Lions

Arzhendin is the crown prince of Ko-orenite basketball. Even with Jorasen's creativity and Oldlin's leadership, Arzhendin is a step above the rest through sheer will to win, gamesmanship, and disregard for opponents. He's certainly not the most popular player on the team - to opponents and to his teammates) - but everyone realises that when he plays, your win percentage goes up. It just does. He fights over every ball and on top of that he's quite a reliable shooter as well. Lazo is far more removed from the game, that is, she's there to make herself and her teammates look good. Where Emuk is the kind of guy to send a bad pass to someone and then cuss out that teammate for not making something out of it, Xiana will either dance through the opposition to score herself or deliver the most pinpoint layup to a forward magically drawn to the ball for an easy score. Avobea is a simpler distribution point who derives pleasure from making opponents miss by a hair. He's usually two steps ahead of the rest, so he can make it work, but isn't always on the same page as his teammates for that reason.

After the implosion of the Ko-orenite Basketball League, the sport (barely) survived on small courts in big cities. Twelve clubs have emerged in a new national league, representing three urban areas. The Capital Cities (Maethoru, Mayara, Gehrenna, Senoren), Aminey (Lunay, Ouleux, Couziers/Linieux, Étouille - but Étouille and Linieux are not within Aminey by a bit), and Santa Teresa (Miradela, Montelo, Serramonte - and nearby Ferrovente). While they might not be underdogs in literally every game, the rankings pretend like this team has a lot more individual skill than it actually has. The strength of the positions is something like PG > SF/PF > (gap) > C > SG, factoring in the backups more than the starters, as we've got one class player at each position at least. Even then, the skill of the PG(s) is far more than C and SG. This is mostly solved by having players play at different positions - because how rigid are basketball positions anyway - and depending on the configuration there might be one extra PG leading to a more technical team shooting from distance or an extra forward leading to a bit more physical play, closer to the basket, relying on a high FG% and grabbing rebounds.

The league has since expanded to 48 teams - by far the largest in Ko-oren - with the new players on the new teams slowly breaking through into the NT. The original twelve outmuscle the rest by a mile - usually - so the good players gravitate towards that group of teams.

After a long time in the shadows, the Unity Centre in Riverside is back and ready to host #9 Hoops-Jags. The Unity Centre is an icon of TJUN-ian basketball, especially after the upset over Valanora a long time ago. Although it's no longer the sole host of TJUN-ian Basketball, it remains a legendary arena, and seeing it regain prominence will bring joy to many.

After all this time, International Basketball finds itself back in the NAU Zone for the second time. Located within The Gardens, where other major sports call home in the NAU, Liberty Arena is the main indoor arena of New Washington and the NAU and with a capacity to boot. It was built ready for hosting games at IBC35, but has waited 10 years to finally welcome the Hoops-Jags home. Expect a passionate crowd, as the Amerikans usually are...just don't throw drinks at the players, would ya?

Basketball has generally not been a priority sport for the Kytlerians, which is why this is their IBC debut. But that doesn't mean they don't have talent - it's just that it's been largely from minority urban communities and hasn't been backed up by infrastructure in the same way as a lot of other sports. Or from the oft-ignored exclave of Bitternea, with the same consequences. The other key source of the talent pool for Kytlerian hoops is conversions from other sports - converted gridiron linemen (who tend to have mobility as well as mass given the tendency towards the triple-option in these parts), one-time field athletes from the throwing events, the odd big slugging batter or pitcher/bowler from baseball/cricket (geography-dependent). This is a country where - for now, at least - basketball is often the sport that Absolute Units fall into after trying something else, not the other way round.

The result is a national team short on coaching and on-court intelligence but long on athleticism; they also tend to be decent shooters, that being a skill that lends itself to being drilled independently. A breakout - at least to the level of "make the playoffs and then fall over" like the gridiron and baseball teams got to very quickly post-Isolation - feels like it might just be a good foreign coach away. But until then, they will likely get by on what one Kytlerian journalist has called their "four esses" - speed, strength, stamina, and surprise.

If you're reading this because your team is playing the Kytlerians, it's probable that you'll be able to out-skill them, and practically certain that you'll have to.

And here they are.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my Scorers: Yes | Choose Scoring Events: Yes | Godmod Scoring Events: No
RP Injuries to my Players: Yes | Godmod Injuries to my Players: No | Godmod Other Events: No
If style mods worked in basketball xkoranate, the Kytlerian team would run about a +3 based on their fast and raw play.

Players are listed in roster order number; though the perceived first-choice starting five are the 1-5 at those positions, the team rotates heavily to emphasise their emphasis on physicality and unpredictability.

1. Ace LEE
Guard / 188cm / 88kg / 195cm wingspan / age 22
First child of a Quebecois-Kytlerian couple, his younger siblings Deuce (17) and Trae (14) are hyped prospects themselves. Having parents born in a country with an actual basketball tradition has helped all of them show more court IQ than their peers, and Ace has shown some nice floor-running and shooting skills - if not the same level of elite athleticism as some of this roster.
2. Aron STEFANSSON
Guard/forward / 201cm / 96kg / 213cm wingspan / age 27
Prototype combination of size, speed, and shooting makes Stefansson - from a family of New Kitaran Osterlanders who moved to Bitternea during that country's civil war - arguably the most dangerous player in the country, and the reigning MVP of the Kytlerian domestic league. Alas, he doesn't have the basketball IQ you'd expect from the best player in the country, at least until you remember the country.
3. Tank HOOPER
Forward / 202cm / 107kg / 212cm wingspan / age 23
While it may sound like a nickname, Tank actually got that name at birth after being a notably chonky baby; he's since become one of the greatest pieces of nominative determinism you're ever likely to see. He's a bludgeon driving into the paint, something he probably tries to do too often really, but with his speed/strength combo it often works. Pair that with some flashy dunks, and you have one heck of a fun player to watch.
4. Bunsars HESARAMBA
Forward / 205cm / 106kg / 213cm wingspan / age 23
"The Bitternean Bomber" is an archetypal stretch four who's got the size to live inside but is both willing and able to shoot from deep and track others who do. Also sneakily good as a ball-handler, it's just shaky defensive instincts - at least at this stage of his career - slightly letting him down. It's definitely not an effort issue, it's just that too often he'll hustle into the wrong place.
5. Magnus ERIKSSON
Centre / 219cm / 130kg / 241cm wingspan / age 26
Of course there's a BFG at the heart of a Kytlerian basketball team, and BFGs don't get bigger than this. Truly an absolute unit, he is the epitome of an old-school paint-pummelling five. He'll win rebounds, finish inside, stop opponents from doing the same, and approximately nothing else. It's been enough for him to claim two domestic MVP titles.
6. Vic CHARLES
Guard / 195cm / 88kg / 209cm wingspan / age 25
The Kytlerian "sixth man" isn't. A vivid red ponytail makes the genderfluid Charles - who took the name Vic for ambiguity between Victoria and their assigned name Victor - an instantly obvious presence on the court. So does their whirry playstyle, dashing all over the court and happy to either shoot from deep or steam inside with a penchant for floaters and fancy layups.
7. Sundiata N'DIAYE
Forward/centre / 208cm / 111kg / 220cm wingspan / age 32
Veteran Kitaran-Bitternean big provides something approaching high-level savvy to a team that needs it, but not the speed or shooting range of the young guns. Could be deployed either alongside Eriksson at the four or in relief of him at the five.
8. Bakaji BIGOMBE
Guard / 192cm / 96kg / 200cm wingspan / age 26
The Kitaran-Bitternean "BB-8" is a fireball-dropping combo guard whose calling cards are his shooting and passing. Blows hot and cold on both sides of the floor but when he's on, he's as good as anyone on this roster (though this may be damning with faint praise). Likely to be deployed off the bench with hopes he can be a microwave scorer.
9. Ock MIKAERE-OCHAATES
Forward / 204cm / 105kg / 222cm wingspan / age 27
Born to a Vephra mother and Aboriginal father, and named after the iconic Vephra-Aboriginal lacrosse player Ock Fils, Mikaere-Ochaates has a wingspan as long as his name and is a disruptive defender inside and out. The Kytlerian league's three-time Defensive Player of the Season doesn't offer enough on the offensive side to justify a starting role but will see plenty of minutes if and when the team leads.
10. Max SEXTON
Guard/forward / 198cm / 96kg / 216cm wingspan / age 26
Long, speedy wing has a tendency to drive into the paint, especially if he can drop a funky dunk at the end of it. Can be caught out of position defensively, but does have a calling card on that side of the floor in the form of his devastating pickpocket artistry; he's led the Kytlerian league in steals in each of the last three seasons.
11. Jérome TREPAGNIER
Guard/forward / 201cm / 85kg / 216cm wingspan / age 19
Rookie of the Season in the most recent domestic season, this lanky dude relies on his speed and length to disrupt sharpshooting wings, and his own shooting is trending up. Likely to be a particular beneficiary of stronger imported coaching to make the most of his defensive instincts, especially if that's paired with him gaining good weight through his 20s. May be a DNP-CD at times just to protect him.
12. Jonah KEITA
Guard/forward / 198cm / 98kg / 208cm wingspan / age 25
Born to an aboriginal Kytlerian mother and a Kitaran father, Keita is another of the speedy slashing wings that seem to form the majority of this country's talent pool on the hardwood - though more of a distributor and less of a shooter than the others on this roster.
14. Mario ARMANI
Forward/centre / 209cm / 110kg / 224cm wingspan / age 29
Feisty big man from the isolated socialist hotbed of Burana in the far northwest of the country, Armani scraps away inside and can be relied on to do all the dirty work on the boards but is infuriatingly foul-prone.
15. Roger LOVE
Guard / 185cm / 76kg / 196cm wingspan / age 29
In a roster loaded with brawn-over-brain types, Love - son of a Quebecois tennis coach - is a rare example of the opposite. Easily overpowered if he gets inside, but he's far more likely to dish dimes to players who won't be, or just pull up and hit threes. A pure point guard, you can expect him to run the second unit.
16. Pontus THÖRNFELDT
Forward/centre / 210cm / 112kg / 229cm wingspan / age 20
An Osterlander refugee from Nyowani Kitara, he's still figuring things out but has ideal physical traits straight out of a toilet paper commercial; he's soft (with his hands), strong, and very long.
Home court 1: Kytlerian Indoor Arena, Zube (16,385) Used vs: Valentine Z, New Umoja, Golden Harp, Andso Mangis, Epicly Amazing Giraffes
Built for the Games of the IX Olympiad in the eastern part of the purpose-built Kytlerian capital of Zube, the Kytlerian Indoor Arena has recently been treated to interior refurbishment - much of it focused on providing a lighting setup so expansive that the touring musicians who provide the majority of the venue's big audiences can easily go without bringing their own. Like the rest of Zube, both the roof of the arena itself and the paved surfaces around it have a light colour to reduce the urban heat island effect - Zube is known as "Snowflake City" for this defining characteristic.
Home court 2: Bitternea Bank Arena at Vespasian Quay, Cobden (12,345) Used vs: Kronbia, Warkus, JaoAA
Built as part of an urban regeneration project of the Vespasian Docks in the Bitternean capital Cobden, the imposingly steep-sided Bitternea Bank Arena has quickly gained a place at the heart of the exclave's cultural life on multiple levels - not only for basketball, but as a popular music venue for touring Kytlerian and Tikariotian artists. Given the latter, it's perhaps appropriate that the building has an angular metal facade...

West Barack and East Obama National Basketball Team

A Brief History of Obaman Basketball

Basketball as a sport is prohibited in West Barack and East Obama, along with other team sports such as cricket, rugby and paintball. This is because the prevalence of team sports has a strong correlation to organised crime, violence and political dissidents, so all attempts at forming groups are prohibited. However, West Barack and East Obama has established an official national basketball team to help promote Obaman values on the international stage.

While our Immortal President and God of Everything including Basketball Barack Obama is known to have a general aversion, even distaste towards sports, he has always had a soft spot for basketball. As a single player, he is known for practicing his 3 point shot in the White House in the afternoons to decompress after a long whole day of protecting citizens from infidels. He is perhaps the only recorded person in history to have a 100% 3 point shot from at least ten thousand attempts, a figure verified by independent Obaman fact-checkers. While he has decided to step away from the national team to give other aspiring ballers a chance, the West Barack and East Obaman national basketball team has an optimistic future.

The Coaching Team

Head Coach: Chadwick Obamahara

Chadwick Obamahara may not be a famous name, but that's because you're not a stalwart member of the White House Official Independent Census & Verification Department. Obamahara is one of the independent verifiers in charge of all individual basketball-related statistics, and he had the tough job of using his analytical and truth-seeking skills to determine the best possible players to send into the IBC 42. As someone who could accurately count ten thousand straight three point attempts from the President himself, his expertise is undoubtedly one of the greatest in the world and he will be appropriate for this position and lead his hand-picked team to basketball glory.

The Players

Point Guard: Barkack Ogbene

Before being scouted as a basketball star, Ogbene worked as a T-shirt cannon operator at West Barack and East Obama home games. He was chosen for the role because the cannon often broke down, and his combination of vision, accuracy and arm strength allowed him to stand in for the cannon and throw T-shirts plastered with Obama's face onto select fans. A lightning quick and agile passer, Ogbene makes opponents' mistakes pay as he can create opportunities in the blink of an eye. Defences collapse in transition around him as he launches the ball all the way back to the other side.

Shooting Guard: Pedro Obarrma

Another member of the White House Official Independent Census & Verification Department, Obarrma also had the honour of accurately counting all of President Obama's 3 point attempts (which all went in). Having been witness to this awe-inspiring feat, Obarrma is considered a master in the President Obama School of Splashing. The ultimate 3 and D guard, Obarrma can always be depended on to catch and shoot when the ball flies his way, and quickly make his way back to terrorise opponents with his clamps.

Small Forward: Antoine Obama-Biden-Barackavious-Smith

Having worked as the sign-wielding mascot of a rations dispensary drive-through in the outskirts of New Barack City for decades, Obama-Biden-Barackavious-Smith has endless stamina and is the ultimate hustler. Always diving for loose balls and getting all up in his opponents' faces, he can defend the 2-4 and set up off-ball screens with a maniacal energy as if he's still trying to direct clueless Obaman peasants into the correct road.

Power Forward: James Bamar

Bamar, a former security guard, doesn't really do much. He just stands outside and looks menacing, but that's all he needs to do on the court as well. A bona fide bruiser, Bamar clogs the paint and protects the interior with his overwhelming height and huge muscles. He's also pretty good at not getting caught for his numerous technical and flagrant fouls.

Centre: Prakash Obamaraj

As a seven footer, all this guy needs to do is stand around and catch lobs and protect the rim. Which he does pretty good in. He's a pretty quiet guy so there's not much else to say about him.

Part 1 – The Man behind the success of Gwen’s Angels – Joshua Kert. Olwethu Nkokheli Mthobeni !

Chief Warrant Officer Joshua Kelly Allen Valench Dimitri “Nguvu” Rashid Fanaka Darweshi H. Terv Kertarajasa Winstin Clayton Voshon Shawnee LeMaun Grady V U. Olwethu Nkokheli Mthobeni is his full name. Or if you would like, Joshua Kert. Olwethu Nkokheli Mthobeni. Or Joshua, that also works. A mountain of a man who is 668.88 cm tall, Joshua is born in Wakaliga, Kampala, Uganda – which just like the rest of the world, is under Valentine Z, or at least one its autonomous regions. The backstory of Joshua is relatively not as important for the time being and instead, we shall take a look at his career in IBC leading Gwen’s Angels. Just like Eveline herself, along with Klarke who serves as a medic for the team (and for the other teams whenever he is needed), Joshua has been there since IBC 32 till IBC 42 as of right now; on a side note, this is also the 11th debut of the Valentians in basketball.

Joshua is a rather extroverted person, who often tells it like it is and is not exactly very shy on his opinions on things and towards people. That is not to say that he is a harsh man, rather that he still has that Valentian character going on, coupled with his openness. In other words, if he says that you need some work put in, he will make sure to push you through it and see that you made it to the end. The journey – the middle part – of course, is not one where a lot of his students fall through or failed. When Gwen’s Angels was ready to face the international and interdimensional scene, they were able to do so in their first debut with a 5-11 in IBC 32. This was then followed by a slow but steady gain of momentum, with them finally winning a title in IBC 40 after beating The Reapers. Not to mention the second, third, and fourth placements that the Valentians have also got themselves in other seasons.

Going back to Joshua, what is his secret towards his team? We have already established about him being quite candid towards his team. As established, he wants to see it through rather than all-talk about it. In other words, he did not feel that the first few seasons were an utter failure and instead were all learning points. He treats his team fairly in that he expected everyone to put in the same effort at first, then he works with each of the players to work on their strengths and weaknesses. Despite his outwardly appearance, Joshua is also not someone who believes in a constant life of hustle and bustle. Under his leadership (Eveline, while being a team manager, lets Joshua have a lot more liberty with training for she understands that he knows better), he would train Gwen’s Angels to their own needs and against their shortcomings, followed by a day or two of R&R. Upon being asked for comment, “You can’t force them to run laps or do push-ups all the time,” he said, “Sure, it is something you do in a military or for someone who is not as fit – that can be a good time – but that is also a path to pain and injuries. I always ask them hey, just do what you need to do – practice, do your exercises and workouts, watch what you eat. But don’t feel that you are being watched all the time. We also occasionally have a lot of cheat days, that’s a very good motivator.”

Gwen’s Angels also unanimously agreed that Joshua is a good coach and a role model to follow, and perhaps someone that they felt would feel utterly terrible to disappoint (Joshua however was fine with honest failures) both in the field and outside of it. Awenasa Panola Samantha Markus Cervantes – one of the 2nd reserves for small forward – said “He’s a cool dude. He’s quite fond of puppies and elephant shrews, so he visits my vet clinics often!”

There was something within the mind of Stella Ronnie-Meyer.

Entering the 42nd edition of the International Basketball Championships, the young girl who would be the team's starting Point Guard had a resolute objective. To make sure that The Brigadiers have as deep of a run as possible in the tournament. She knew that the team had the capability to do so, and with her talent, perhaps Aphrilia could go further beyond their usual finish. The new double group stage format was something entirely new for this team, and whether they fail or succeed here depends on just them.

Stella was brought in as a replacement for Adriana Beverley, who had retired from the national team alongside Abigail Davis during the 40th edition of the tournament. Her debut in the 41st edition of the IBC was... Fine, to say the least. She didn't get to showcase much, but the potential was definitely there. And now, because of the fact that she is a starter, perhaps she would be able to spread her wings even more. Yet despite her own optimism, the belief that she will contribute greatly... The rest of the team wasn't as thrilled.

For one, there was the aforementioned double group stage.

Forty five national teams were competing in this edition of the tournament, resulting in a first group stage consisting of five groups of nine. The second stage will feature twenty teams with four groups of five. Aphrilia being the eighth best nation in basketball was a Pot 2 team, and was drawn to Group E. The other ranked teams included Valanora, the Visayas Islands, and Britonisea. Bohr, The Enqab Archipelago Laboratories, Ophiuchus Region, New Eastern Canada, and Riandera were the newcomers in this group, all being unranked.

There was, amongst The Brigadiers, a lot of uncertainty. They've never experienced this sort of format before (Frankly, no Aphrilian national team has), and doubts lingered amongst many. The longer tournament would test their endurance on an international field, or court for this matter. Who knows what the newcomers will bring performance wise.

Stella wasn't deterred however.

Throughout her relatively uneventful youth, she's always had this positive mindset. No matter how grim or hopeless things seem, she's able to see through it all and find the light in even the darkest of situations. It doesn't necessarily mean she can't feel negative emotions such as anger or sadness, it just takes a lot for her to feel such things. The people around her say that this brightness of hers is natural, others question how she is able to be such a positive person. Truthfully, Stella doesn't understand it herself whenever she questions her own mentality. It's a mindset that seems natural, yet it can feel abnormal at the same time. Not even her family knows much.

Her father was in law enforcement, and her mother, well. Stella doesn't know what her mother does. She still makes money despite seemingly never working a day in her life, and the girl doesn't question it. Some things are better left unsaid, some people say. Perhaps Stella just wants to focus on one thing at a time, not wanting to wonder any further. That should be it, surely. Especially as entering into this edition of the IBC, the Aphrilian Basketball Federation were hoping for better results. And in that regard,

Stella is determined to make things work, much to the dismay and lack of hope from the others.

Odin Nagy has brought a bit of swagger back to the Dragons, getting the team back into true title contention. Turning to a growing trend in Vanorian national teams, Nagy has decided to select not the best players but the players who are in form while also shifting the tactical philosophy from one that relied exclusively on the three point shot to a somewhat more balanced offense. With a few big players to help level the physical playing field and give some more inside options, it has allowed the Dragons over the last few editions to modify their gameplan going into every encounter and that has seen them refind an edge that had seemingly been lost from the team for a few years. Now all that is left is to bundle it all together and get a bit of luck to take the team all the way to winning their first IBC trophy, after finishing second a few times before.

In a press interview with Coach Hector Mendoza, nicknamed "The Commander", he said that after the Kronbia national team participated in four International Basketball Championships, it is time for us to achieve something special. We seek to reach the second round and even aspire to achieve an advanced position in the IBC 42. The coach spoke about the team’s preparations, as the team has all the time to focus on the Championship, especially after the end of the LKB championship. Preparations will begin with a training camp in an isolated resort in the Montana Verde, so that the team can achieve the maximum possible concentration. He also confirmed that the international players will not participate in the Copa Kronbia officially, after the Kronbian basketball Federation informed the clubs. We wish the Kronbia national team success in IBC 42.
