General Information

Sendhang or the Federation of Sendhang is a landlocked nation located in the Melayu Archipelago on the Melayu Mainland. It has a land border with Acastanha, Kayangan, Springmont, Havynwilde, Bachok, and Samudera Darussalam. Sendhang consists of a federal territory and 4 states namely Lemah Banyu, Alamsunda, Putrasia, and Nainhá.

Sendhang consists of hundreds of distinct native ethnic and linguistic groups but it is by no means a melting pot. The different ethnic groups in Sendhang are exclusively compartmentalized regionally except for in big cities which are more diverse due to urban migration. Bahasa was adopted as the national language of Sendhang to develop a shared identity among the different people in the country. English is the most widely understood foreign language in the country but only widely spoken in major cities.

Like most of the Melayu Archipelago, the climate in Sendhang is entirely tropical. Temperature varies little from season to season with the lowland averaging 28 °C and the highlands averaging 26 °C. Wear casual, light clothes: t-shirts, shorts (except in Tapaklaboh) and sandals. Don’t worry if you are not used to the temperature because Sendhangite loves air-conditioners. Most indoor places in major cities are installed with air-conditioners.

The staple food in the country is rice and it holds the central place in Sendhangite culture. It is often eaten as plain rice accompanied with a few protein and vegetable dishes as side dishes. The national food of the country is fried rice and is available anywhere in Sendhang. The food in Sendhang tends to be hot and spicy, so if you are not used to spicy food, make sure to let your cook know it. Since Sendhang is a Muslim majority country, halal food is not a problem.

Venue

Image

PS3 has selected 5 stadiums from the federal city and all 4 states in Sendhang to host the 8th Melayu Archipelago Cup. The stadiums are as follows;

i. Stadium Tapaklaboh, Tapaklaboh (cap. 30,000)

Tapaklaboh is the state capital of Putrasia. It has a population of 405,000 people that are 97% Muslim. It is the most conservative big city in the country. Putrasia is the only state in Sendhang that practices comprehensive sharia law. The other 2 states that practice sharia law, Lemah Banyu and Alamsunda have limited jurisdiction and only in the matters of family law, marriage, and inheritance. Drinking alcohol is strictly not allowed in the state of Putrasia. However, some larger western hotels and restaurants do sell beer discreetly. Do bear in mind that the state of Putrasia strictly enforces its sharia law. So don’t get caught drinking. The favorite pastime for Putrasians is drinking coffee. Tapaklaboh is connected to Kambang via the West Kambang Bridge.

As the capital of Putrasia, Tapaklaboh is home to many landmarks important to the Putrasian people including the Grand Mosque of Putrasia and the Putrasia Museum. Tapaklaboh is also the site of the Tapaklaboh Stadium, home of the recently crowned king of Sendhangite club football, Kelab Sepakbola Tapaklaboh or KS Tapaklaboh in short. Tapaklaboh Stadium is a multi-purpose 30,000 seater stadium but is currently used mostly for football matches. It will host the Group A matches and a quarter-final match of the 8th Melayu Archipelago Cup.

ii. Stadium Danokota, Danokota (cap. 28,000)

Danokota is the state capital of Alamsunda. With a population of 605,832, it is the second-largest city in Sendhang after Kratonredjo. It was the capital city of Sendhang before it was moved to Kambang 7 years ago. Danokota is well-known for its universities, food as well as entertainment and textile industry. Any Sendhangite with the ambition to gain fame whether as a singer, actor or even fashion designer sets their aim on Danokota. Danokota is connected to Kambang via the North Kambang Bridge.

Danokota was the center of the Pasundanese kingdom of Muaradano and is home to many historical buildings and museums about the Pasundanese culture. Many of the historical buildings are well-preserved and maintained including the Muaradano Palace which is open to the public and the Muaradano Grand Market. The Pasundanese architectural style was very popular throughout the earlier half of the 20th century. Newer developments though tend to favor modern style including the 28,000 seater Danokota Stadium, the home of the most successful club in Alamsunda, KS Danokota. Danokota Stadium will host Group B matches and a quarter-final match of the 8th Melayu Archipelago Cup.

iii. Stadium Larantuka, Larantuka (cap. 30,000)

Larantuka is the capital of the Larantuka province and the largest city in the state of Nainha with a population of 394,628. It has a strong colonial Portuguese influence and is overwhelmingly Catholic. Lots of Catholic churches line the streets of Larantuka. Nainha is the only state in Sendhang that doesn’t practice any form of sharia law. Larantuka is connected to Kambang via the South Kambang Bridge.

Larantuka is the site of the 30,000 seater Larantuka Stadium, home of the most successful club in Nainha, KS Larantuka. It will host Group C matches and a quarter-final match of the 8th Melayu Archipelago Cup.

iv. Stadium Kratonredjo, Kratonredjo (cap. 25,000)

Kratonredjo is the state capital of Lemah Banyu and one of the most ancient and significant trading hubs in Sendhang. It is the most populous city in the country with a population of 708,868. It boasts some of Sendhang’s largest malls. However, despite its size, Kratonredjo is a little lacking in sights. Most foreign visitors come to Kratonredjo for business. It is the only host city that is not within the vicinity of Lake Sendhang. Another air travel is required to reach Kratonredjo after you arrived in Kambang.

Kratonredjo is the site of the 25,000 seater Kratonredjo Stadium, home of the most successful club in Lemah Banyu, Persatuan Sepakbola Kratonredjo or more commonly know as Perserejo Kratonredjo. It is the host of Group D matches and a quarter-final match of the 8th Melayu Archipelago Cup.

v. Stadium Persekutuan, Kambang (cap. 40,000)

Kambang is the capital city of Sendhang. It is an entirely planned city located strategically on the island in the middle of Lake Sendhang. The pre-planned city finished its first phase of development and is open to the public 7 years ago in Year 1. The population is still low with only 102,500 people living in the new city and mostly made up of public servants. The city remains under heavy construction and people and companies are still slowly moving in.

Kambang is the site of the Persekutuan Stadium, the national stadium of Sendhang that will host the semi-final as well as the final of the 8th Melayu Archipelago Cup. The Persekutuan Stadium is a 7 years old all-seater multi-purpose stadium and the home ground of the Sendhang national football team. It has a capacity of 40,000 making it the largest football stadium in Sendhang.

Transportation

Since Sendhang is a landlocked country, the participants can get into Sendhang only via air from most major cities in the Melayu Archipelago or via land from one of the neighboring countries in the Melayu Mainland. The only international airport in the country is the Kambang International Airport in the Federal City of Kambang, the capital city of Sendhang which is located strategically in the middle of the country.

Inter-cities traveling can be done via air with Skyway.com, the main sponsor of the 8th Melayu Archipelago flying from and to the 2 airports servicing the host cities daily. This includes the Kambang International Airport servicing Kambang, Tapaklaboh, Larantuka, and Danokota and the Kratonredjo Airport, Kratonredjo servicing Kratonredjo.

For short-distance travel, the bus is the most convenient option. The inter-cities highway is not the best but it is maintained adequately to ensure a pleasant journey for its users. There is no railway system in the country.

The Southern Palm Islands was then used as a trading post for Malayalee traders from Indusse. The trading post grew so big over time until the Malayalee outnumbered the native Austronesians in the islands. It is now the only Malayalee-majority nation in Melayu Archipelago.

Southern Palm Islands Football Association (SPIFA) is the main organization behind the development of football in Southern Palm Islands. The Island of the Lost announces its roster for the 8th Melayu Archipelago Cup

By Inès Neville

The Island of the Lost returns to the Melayu Archipelago Cup, and after how the last tournament turned out for our players, the goal this time is very much clear: win the tournament. Our players have by and large mostly successfully adapted to the way that the outside world plays its football, with eleven players a side instead of the seven that we are used to on our island. The results of the last tournament do not lie: our nation is now very much capable of going toe to toe with the best that the Melayu Archipelago has to offer. Now it is time for our men and women to show that not only can they stand toe to toe with the big boys, but that they can also beat them. But the road to the final will not be easy. We have been drawn into Group B alongside the likes of Ziwana and Pemecutan, two teams which have beaten the Island of the Lost in previous Melayu Archipelago Cup. If we are to prove ourselves truly worthy of winning the MAC then we must beat the best before being the best.

Manager
Name: Husna Al-Amin
Age: 47
Husna Al-Amin is one of the fastest rising stars in the Lost football management scene. Her entire playing career was spent with her hometown team the Jafar City Cobras, and once she made the leap to management she also took charge of the Cobras' youth teams. In the previous season Husna was elevated to the position of manager of the senior team, and she led the Cobras to a strong campaign in the League of the Lost, winning the title by a single point over their closest rivals the Ursulopolis Eels. She has now been recruited by the Football Federation of the Lost in the hopes that she can turn the team into a competitive one in the Melayu Archipelago Cup.

Goalkeepers
#1: Shulem Ott (Cruellaville Hounds)
Age: 27
Gender: Male
Quite the skilled goalkeeper for his age group, actually. His slightly chubby appearance belies an athleticism the likes of which had never been seen before in the Island of the Lost. He has a problem with getting things organized at the back though, and will more often than not elect to do things himself rather than let the defense help him out.

#13: Arkadi Sobol (Dinamo Rasputinsk)
Age: 27
Gender: Male
The complete antithesis to Shulem Ott, Arkadi Sobol does not hesitate to yell at his defense to tell them where he wants them to be. It also has the side effect of him blaming his defense whenever something goes wrong.

#21: Kriemhilde Werner (Ursulopolis Eels)
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Kriemhilde, or Hilde for short, has impressed so far with the Eels' under-18 team, and she has the makings of being a great sweeper keeper in the future. She is not going to be played much in the Melayu Archipelago Cup though due to her age, but her experience training alongside players of an older age group should do her well.

Defenders
#2: Mayer Warren (Cruellaville Hounds)
Age: 25
Gender: Male
For a defender Mayer loves to get out in front and join the attack. He has an incredible right foot as well which he uses to produce crosses of the highest order. He is however fiercely strong-willed and independent and has been called "uncoachable" by many. He also has harsh words for any person who fails to get on the end of his crosses.

#3: Jacob Wheeler (Cruellaville Hounds)
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Loves to go on the attack as well, just like his teammate Mayer Warren. It's a wonder that the Hounds did so well in the Under-21 League of the Lost to just barely snatch at the title. At least he is more open to being coached, but he has begun to think that the under-21 level is beneath him.

#4: Julio Meza (Playa del Mal Royals)
Age: 28
Gender: Male
Julio is already a regular fixture for the Royals at the age of 21, something that does not happen often in the League of the Lost owing to its physical nature and style of play. He knows the job which he has been told to do, which is to defend, and he is intent on carrying out his responsibilities to the best of his abilities. Not a creative bone in his body though.

#5: Kendall Sessions (Port Maleficent Magic)
Age: 27
Gender: Female
Kendall will be tasked with the chance creations in this defense, with her job mostly being to lob the ball towards the forwards, but she can also chase down an opposing player barrelling down on goal if need be.

Sjoerd Baaiman (Cape Hook Pirates)
Age: 28
Gender: Male

Maja Larsen (Ursulopolis Eels)
Age: 24
Gender: Female

Fingall McNaughton (Ratcliffe Town A.F.C.)
Age: 27
Gender: Male

Líle MacNeil (Ratcliffe Town A.F.C.)
Age: 25
Gender: Female

Midfielders
#6: Evelyn Manzo (Playa del Mal Royals)
Age: 27
Gender: Female
Evelyn is right at home sitting just in front of the defense and cutting out chances into the box before they arrive there. Tactical fouls is her expertise, and this could cause her to get her name on the referee's notebook quite a few times.

#7 Aubin Segal (Mont Gaston Hunters)
Age: 24
Gender: Male
In the League of the Lost, Aubin would be very much a forward player. As things stand in eleven-a-side though, his skillset naturally gravitates him towards the winger position. He also knows how to bamboozle defending players with his fancy footwork before sending in thunder rockets at the goal.

#8 William Esteve (Cruellaville Hounds)
Age: 28
Gender: Male
William is very much a defensive midfielder by training, but on the occasion of his switching over to eleven-a-side football, he has become the midfielder who is used as an outlet by his teammates to get the ball moving forward. But also keep in mind that if Evelyn Manzo knows how and loves to make tackles, William just tackles willy-nilly, doubling or even tripling his chances of seeing yellow and red.

#11 Alexandra Robbins (Cruellaville Hounds)
Age: 25
Gender: Female
Not the fastest player out there but she does make up for it with the ability to cover the entire length of the field without so much as breaking a sweat. Alex also has a wicked good cross in her, and her free kick ability is nothing to be snorted at either.

Aurèle Legrand (Mont Gaston Hunters)
Age: 27
Gender: Male

Honorine Mathieu (Côte de Facilier Barons)
Age: 24
Gender: Female

Qamar Nagi (Jafar City Cobras)
Age: 25
Gender: Female

Oleg Popov (Dinamo Rasputinsk)
Age: 28
Gender: Male

Forwards
#9: Rylee Ross (Cruellaville Hounds)
Age: 25
Gender: Female
The honor of wearing the number 9 shirt goes to Rylee Ross, the primary goalscorer of the Hounds during their winning campaign in the Under-21 League of the Lost. Her secret lies in being always in the right place at the right time, whether it's for a cross into the box for a goal or a foul inside the box that results in a penalty for her team. Despite this though, she is very easy to get off the ball if she doesn't have a lot of support around her.

#10: Devin Randall (Cruellaville Hounds)
Age: 27
Gender: Male
Thus the task of holding up the ball goes to Rylee's teammate Devin Randall. If anything, it's about the only thing he knows to do going forward, but do not even think about getting in the way of the goal and a shot that's just come off of his left foot. You will surely regret it.

Elena Arreola (Playa del Mal Royals)
Age: 28
Gender: Female

Ryan Fonseca (Playa del Mal Royals)
Age: 27
Gender: Male

Our Projected Starting XI:

Kits
The kits of the Lost players have been decided by committee in an effort to not show any bias to any of the present football teams on the island. In the end, the committee decided to procure kits of alternating amber and black stripes with black shorts and black socks. If in the event that there is a kit clash then the team will hope to be able to procure alternate kits in time.

Overview

Eraman, officially the Kingdom of Eraman, is an island country in the Melayu Archipelago. The federal constitutional monarchy consists of seven kingdoms and two states. It shares a land border with Samudera Darussalam and a maritime border with Pemecutan, Sharktail, and Southern Palm Islands. Anara is the national capital and largest city while Daulapura is the royal seat of the monarch. The country's population is 14,753,910.

Eraman is ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse. About half of the population is ethnically Malay, with large minorities of Girian, Mandaran, and Palmyran. Malay and English are recognized as the official languages of Eraman. The economy is mainly fuelled by its natural resources but is expanding in the sectors of commerce, manufacturing, and tourism.

Football is considered the number one sport in the country. The local clubs and the national team are followed religiously by the citizens. Eraman currently sits at 85th in the KPB ranking.

Staffs & Tactics

Head Coach: Ross Hearkener (Brenecia)

Ross Hearkener is the head coach of the Eraman national football team. He is the former player and head coach of Royal Puncakpura. Under his guidance, Royal Puncakpura managed to break the domination of Royal Daulapura and Anara in Liga Eraman. Ross Hearkener managed to lift the Liga Eraman trophy 2 seasons ago.

His appointment as the national team head coach over a year ago caused a stir among the Royal Puncakpura fans. Royal Puncakpura was top of the league last season when the president of ERAFA who is also the owner of Royal Daulapura appointed Ross Hearkener as the national team head coach. Royal Puncakpura fans saw this as an attempt to weaken Royal Puncakpura. Royal Daulapura went on to win Liga Eraman last season.

Ross Hearkerner led Eraman to their most successful run in the recent 80th Cup of Harmony by reaching the quarter-final. Eraman has previously never get through to the knockout stage.

Style Modifier : 2
Formation : 4-2-3-1

Ross Hearkener prefers his team to play with an attacking mindset and high pressing intensity. He prefers to utilize an attacking midfielder as the playmaker and the focal point of the build-up.

Players
Starting Line Up in bold

Goalkeeper

Image

GK: Dundang Bayan
Age: 37
Club: Royal Arupura

The veteran Royal Arupura goalkeeper is back to don the national team number 1 jersey since last year after 4 years of absence. He is widely acknowledged as the best goalkeeper in the country but was dropped from the national team due to a dispute with the national football association. With no domestic football for almost a year, Ross Hearkener had no choice but to re-call Dundang Bayan and some of the best footballers in the country last year which Tun Sengalang Petara banned almost 6 years ago.

Bench:
GK, Yuyi Dunya, 29, Royal Cittapura
GK, Mikla Kala, 28, Royal Daulapura

Defender

Image

DR: Lipas Kudung
Age: 31
Club: Royal Puncakpura

Lipas Kudung is a modern full-back who loves to get up and down the pitch for 90 minutes. His speed and ability to cross the ball are his main assets. Very good going forward but can be susceptible at the back. His eagerness to get forward sometimes left the back open.

Image

DC: Badang Gangsa
Age: 36
Club: Anara

The Anara captain has shown his leadership qualities after leading his club side to a back-to-back league title. The center back was nicknamed Gorilla for his strength and aerial prowess. With promising young center-back emerging around the country, this is probably going to be the last time Badang lead the back four.

Image

DC: Anton Mora
Age: 28
Club: Royal Daulapura

The mass exodus of national team players from Royal Daulapura 5 years ago forced the club to rely on foreign players and youngsters. One of the youngsters who benefited from the incident is Anton Mora. He stepped up to the first team with flying colors. Composed and plays defense breaking long balls often.

Image

DL: Cicak Kudung
Age: 31
Club: Royal Puncakpura

Cicak Kudung is Lipas Kudung's twin brother. The abilities and playing style of Lipas and Cicak is as identical as their face. The only down point of it is they are both right-footed. Cicak Kudung always supports the attack down the left flank but frequently had to cut in onto his favored right foot to hoist crosses into the box.

Bench:
DR, Feleti Arshis, 33, Damaisari
DL, Waka Sentri, 36, Royal Daulapura
DC, Isileli Hiva, 35, Damaisari
DC, Mahar Mina, 28, Royal Daulapura

Midfielder

Image

MC: Putra Daulapura Suara Petara [CAPTAIN]
Age: 34
Club: Damaisari

The national team will be led in the midfield by the prince of Eraman himself. The third son of Maharaja Nila Petara caused half of the national team to be banned with his transfer move from his uncle's club, Royal Daulapura to Damaisari on a free transfer. In retaliation, his uncle who is the president of ERAFA banned him and his teammates from the national team. Left with no choice or better players, Tun Sengalang Petara decided to lift the ban last year and Suara Petara is now back with the captain armband since the 7th Melayu Archipelago Cup.

Image

MC: Rimau Belang
Age: 34
Club: Royal Puncakpura

Rimau Belang is another domestic club captain in the national team. He led Royal Puncakpura to various championships in the past. Rimau Belang is deployed as defending midfielder for his club but is expected to play a more advanced role for the national team.

Image

AMC: Mano Bosa
Age: 36
Club: Anara

The veteran playmaker will be the main creative outlet for Eraman. The attack-minded center midfield has the most impressive passing range and passing accuracy in Liga Eraman for the past few seasons and is very deadly in a dead-ball situation. He is expected to be responsible for corner kicks, free kicks as well as penalty kicks.

Bench:
MC, Milo Kaulawi, 26, Royal Daulapura
MC, Karipa Senawang, 27, Royal Daulapura
AMC, Serigala Rudra, 30, Royal Puncakpura

Forward

Image

AMR - Kilat Saputra
Age: 32
Club: Anara

Kilat Saputra formed a deadly attack for Anara in the league alongside his twin brother Kudrat Saputra. His main ability is his pace. His speed will keep his opponents afraid as he can beat defenders in a footrace.

Image

AML: Kudrat Saputra
Age: 32
Club: Anara

Kudrat Saputra, much like his twin brother is very quick. The left inside forward will use his pace and flair on the ball to beat opponents and create scoring opportunities. Very hard-working and have an eye for goals.

Image

ST - Buisan Buayan
Age: 36
Club: Damaisari

Buisan Buayan will be the focal point of Eraman's attack. He has shown a surprising amount of upper-body strength in the league which allowed him to shove defenders aside, creating room for him to show his skills and make things happen. He also has the ability to get into a great goalscoring position with his movement.

Bench:
AMR, Perda Nasar, 27, Royal Daulapura
AML, Era Hitam, 24, Royal Daulapura
ST, Putra Daulapura Wikra Petara, 24, Royal Daulapura

Overview
Samudera or officially the Crowned Federation of Samudera Darussalam is a sovereign country that is located in mainland Melayu Archipelago, with a land area of around 121,000 km2 and a population of 26.3 millions (2019 census). As a constitutional monarchy, Samudera is formally led by a mangkubumi (prime minister), who rules from the federal capital of Bandar Raja, while the monarch reigns but doesn't rule. The country is ethnically diverse, with the majority belong to the various Malay groups, while the rest are ethnic Samuderan Chinese, Indians, and Eurasians. Tourism is a leading industry in the country, followed by information technology, entertainment, and services.

Samudera is noticeably absent in most of the previous events of the Melayu Archipelago Cup with reasons unstated, although football is one of the most popular sport in the nation. The last time they participate would be during the 3rd Melayu Archipelago Cup, without noticeable result. Although the Ministry of Sport has made claims about reforming the system and club as a whole, the results of said reformation are yet to be tested until the incoming regional football competition, which is about to be held in neighbouring Sendhang.

Because of that, he was deemed as suitable for the job to help lead Samudera to advance in the regional competition.

Wirakusuma has experimented with several team formations before, though he felt the current one would be effective.

Sendhang National Football Team
Trigramme: SDG
Demonym: Sendhangite
Nickname: The Rice Farmers

Overview

Sendhang or Federation of Sendhang is a a landlocked nation located in the Melayu Archipelago on the Melayu Mainland. It has a land border with Acastanha, Kayangan, Springmont, Havynwilde, Bachok, and Samudera Darussalam. Sendhang consists of a federal territory and 4 states namely Lemah Banyu, Alamsunda, Putrasia, and Nainhá.

Football in Sendhang is governed by the newly-formed Persatuan Sepakbola Seluruh Sendhang (PS3). PS3 was officially formed over a year ago. Before the formation of PS3, football in Sendhang was governed separately by each of the state FAs. There was no Sendhang national team prior to the formation of PS3.

The formation of PS3 also paved the way for a new national league, the Liga Super Sendhang (LSS) which kicked off its inaugural season last year. There was no national league before the introduction of LSS. Each of the state FAs organized their league separately before this.

The 8th Melayu Archipelago Cup will be Sendhang's second-ever participation in the most prestigious national team football tournament in the region getting knocked out in the group stage after finishing fourth behind eventual champion, Southern Palm Islands, 2-times champion, Ziwana, and World Cup qualifier, Trolleborg in the previous edition in Pemecutan.

Sendhang then participated in their second tournament ever in the 75th Baptism of Fire in Recuecn and Electrum last year where they were again knocked out in the group stage after finishing fourth again Marigred, Talkasa, and Gergary. Sendhang collected 4 points from 4 matches with a win, two draws, and a defeat.

In the same year, Sendhang also participated in the 88th World Cup qualifiers and the 80th Cup of Harmony without much success. The 8th Melayu Archipelago Cup will be Sendhang’s fifth tournament.

Staffs & Tactics

Head Coach: Teuku Syarkawi

Teuku Syarkawi is the former head coach of KS Tapaklaboh, the champion of Divisi 1 Putrasia, the highest division in the state of Putrasia before the introduction of Liga Super Sendhang. His appointment as the first head coach of the Sendhang national team was made a week after PS3 was officially announced. It was an easy decision for the decision-makers in PS3 as Syarkawi is a very highly-rated head coach among football enthusiasts in Sendhang especially Putrasia.

He led Sendhang into its debut competition in the 7th Melayu Archipelago Cup in Pemecutan in which Sendhang won once, drew three times, and lost once. Sendhangite, especially the people in the corridors of power at PS3 Complex were generally happy with the performance of the national team in Pemecutan and put their faith in Syarkawi to continue leading the national team for the next 3 years.

Assistant Head Coach: Teuku Irfan

Teuku Irfan was handpicked by Syarkawi to be the assistant head coach of the Sendhang national team. Irfan is a graduate of sports science from the Universiti Sendhang. He is a long-time friend of Syarkawi and was his assistant at KS Tapaklaboh. The two complement each other and have worked well together for years. Irfan will usually lead team training while Syarkawi spent most of his time monitoring the training from his office while analyzing data and formulating strategies.

Style Modifier : -2
Formation : 4-1-2-3 DM

Teuku Syarkawi is a defensive-minded counter-attacking coach. He prefers to play with a defensive midfielder to protect the back four and to start counter-attacks. This is accompanied by two quick wingers that will sit deep to help the defense when they don't have the ball and get in position to launch a counter-attack while in transition when they have just won the ball.

Syarkawi prefers his team to be very disciplined in defending. His team will sit deep and frustrate the opponent for 90 minutes if needed. He doesn't believe in possession football. He wants his team to be very direct and quick when attacking. As he said, "possession doesn't win games. Goal does. Keep it tight at the back and hit team on the break."

Players
Starting Line Up in bold

Goalkeeper

Image

GK: Albertus Wageo (CAPTAIN)
Age: 30
Club: KS Larantuka
30 Caps, 9 Clean Sheets

Albertus Wageo is the Liga Super Sendhang’s goalkeeper of the year. He signed for KS Larantuka from PS Oelmasi at the start of the previous season on a free transfer. The Oelmasi-born goalkeeper helped his new club to a second-place finished in the league and also conceded the least goal in the process. His selection as the captain of the national team has been an honor for him. His leadership, integrity, influence, and high social skills are what the coach sees in him. Syarkawi believed that Wageo as a captain could unite the new squad which comprises players from all sorts of backgrounds.

Bench:

Image

GK: Monyet Pasuryan
Age: 27
Club: Persejo Kratonredjo
0 Cap

Monyet Pasuryan's ability in guarding the Persejo Kratonredjo goal last season deserved a thumbs up and earned him a call-up to the national team. The 27 years old Kratonredjo-born sweeper goalkeeper was ever-present for the club from the state capital of Lemah Banyu. He only conceded 21 times in the 22 matches that he played. This record led Persejo Kratonredjo to be the 4th least conceded team in the Liga Super Sendhang last season.

GK: Atep Ramadani, 24 - KS Danokota

Defender

Image

DR: Teuku Hamzah
Age: 24
Club: KS Tapaklaboh
27 Caps, 0 Goal

Small and cunning, that is how the media described Teuku Hamzah. He is one of the four KS Tapakbaloh players called up by Syarkawi to the national team, their former head coach. His performance in the last 2 seasons convinced Syarkawi to call him up for national duty. Sendhangite will be looking for him to use his speed and agility to make overlap to open the space for Sendhang down the wing.

Image

DC: Teuku Muhammad Bari
Age: 29
Club: KS Tapaklaboh
26 Caps, 0 Goal

Teuku Muhammad Bari is a strong and commanding center-back. He is very highly rated by Syarkawi who coached him at KS Tapaklaboh but Bari is not a player that football fans in Putrasia are interested in because of his temperament. While he is a regular player for his club, he is also a regular on the referee's notebook for the yellow and red cards. He is often seen kicking the opponent's leg, sometimes he is in trouble for it but sometimes he gets away with it. His disciplinary record is bad. Nevertheless, he won the Liga Super Sendhang best defender of the year last season. His ability to mark, tackle and close down opponents is enough for Syarkawi to call him up. He is also an asset when defending or attacking a set-piece due to his heading ability and jumping reach.

Image

DC: Putra Lumipada
Age: 29
Club: Persejo Kratonredjo
26 Caps, 1 Goal

Putra Lumipada consistently led the back four of Persejo Kratonredjo for the past 2 seasons. His role for his club was irreplaceable. The ball-playing defender was third on the Liga Super Sendhang’s best defender of the year award last season behind Teuku Muhammad Bari and Niko Kefalo. The 29 years old Kratonredjo-born who is also the captain of Persejo Kratonredjo was very commanding throughout the season and kept his backline very disciplined.

Image

DL: Niko Kefalo
Age: 27
Club: KS Larantuka
23 Caps, 0 Goal

The 27 years old defender of KS Larantuka is the star player of his club helping his club to 3
Liga Mese Nainhá title and became the runner-up in the inaugural Liga Super Sendhang season in which he came 2nd in the best defender of the year award behind Teuku Muhammad Bari. He is in his seventh year with KS Larantuka after his contract was extended for another 3 years last season.

Midfielder

Image

DM: Josua Beripeda
Age: 28
Club: KS Larantuka
25 Caps, 1 Goal

The call-up of Beripeda last year was quite surprising. The regista was playing for PS Ruteng which is a middle-level club in Nainhá. The club never reached the top 4 but Beripeda's performance caught the eye of Teuku Syarkawi. His flexibility is amazing. Although originally a defensive midfielder, he could move forward to help the attack. He is also comfortable playing as a sweeper. This versatility makes Beripeda a unique addition to the national team. He signed for the champion of Nainhá, KS Larantuka during the off-season to challenge himself at the highest level in Sendhang football and it was arguably the best transfer of the season as Beripeda went on to become the Liga Super Sendhang’s best play of the year and helped KS Larantuka to a second-place finish.

Image

MC: Teuku Hassan Al Qari
Age: 31
Club: KS Tapaklaboh
23 Caps, 0 Goal

Teuku Hassan Al-Qari is the captain of KS Tapaklaboh. He is very highly respected by his teammates. He spent his entire career with KS Tapaklaboh. The emergence of Teuku Herman 2 seasons ago, a KS Tapaklaboh academy graduate challenged Hassan's place in the starting eleven but Syarkawi is confident that Hassan can maintain his form and skills for the foreseeable future and deserved his place in the starting eleven of the national team. His main quality is his creativity, vision, and passing ability. Hassan is another player that the national team can rely on to take the free kicks and corner kicks.

MC: Nanang Wirajuda

23 Caps, 4 Goals

Nanang Wirajuda was a key player for KS Danokota for the past few seasons in which they clinched the Liga Perdana Alamsunda title in the last 3 seasons before Liga Super Sendhang was introduced. He is usually deployed as an advanced playmaker or a box-to-box midfielder at his club. Sendhangite will be looking to see Nanang replicate his club form for the national team especially with his composure, long-range passing, and high stamina. He is the deal-ball specialist for his club and the national team.

Forward

Image

AMR: Ramon Kalbasi
Age: 25
Club: KS Larantuka
4 Caps, 1 Goal

Ramon Kalbasi is one of the standout performers for KS Larantuka on their way to a second-place finish in the inaugural Liga Super Sendhang season last year. His trickery and dribbling skills caught the eye of many and earned him a spot in the Liga Super Sendhang’s best XI of the year award. The right inside forward is also a big threat in terms of goalscoring as he went on to be the second top goalscorer in the league behind Teuku Salahuddin.

Image

AML: Cezar Nowela
Age: 24
Club: KS Larantuka
2 Caps, 1 Goal

Unlike most of the players in the national team squad, Cezar Nowela was not part of the squad in the last Melayu Archipelago Cup. The left inside forward was only called up last year after his performance with KS Larantuka in the first few Liga Super Sendhang matches last season caught the eye of Teuku Syarkawi. Sendhangite will be looking for Nowela’s pace when hitting the opponent on the break as well as getting into the opponent’s penalty box for a goalscoring chance.

Image

ST: Teuku Salahuddin
Age: 21
Club: KS Tapaklaboh
3 Caps, 0 Goal

Teuku Salahuddin confirmed his status as one of the best strikers in the country last season after winning 3 end-of-season Liga Super Sendhang awards, the most award won by a single player. Salahuddin will be leading the line of attack for Sendhang for the first time after winning the striker of the year, young player of the year as well as the golden boot award. Standing at only 170cm, Salahuddin is miniature in size but very quick and clinical in finishing.

Bench:
Image

AMR - Temiar Kintak
Age: 28
Club: Perseguput Gunung Putri
23 Caps, 1 Goal

Temiar Kintak is not known for his goalscoring ability but he ticked all the boxes preferred by Syarkawi to fill this position. He is a very hardworking player who will help the defense, probably run on 3 lungs because he never gets tired and most importantly has the pace and trickery to launch a counter-attack when they won the ball.

Image

AML: Keylar Samoi
Age: 28
Club: KS Gunung Kayasu
24 Caps, 4 Goals

Keylar Samoi is the main attacking threat for his club, KS Gunung Kayasu in Liga Lemah Banyu. He mainly plays on the left wing but is also comfortable playing as a striker. His main strength is his pace, dribbling, and long shot.

Image

ST - Gusti Sing Nggawe
Age: 29
Club: Free Agent
24 Caps, 16 Goals

Gusti Sing Nggawe is the star of the national team. He was the top goal scorer of Liga Lemah Banyu 2 seasons ago and helped Pesisir United to a third-place finish, enough for them to earn a spot in the new Liga Super Sendhang last season. He gained national prominence last year after scoring 5 of the 7 goals for Sendhang in the 7th Melayu Archipelago Cup especially after scoring the winning goal against Trolleborg. He then went on to score 16 goals in his first 13 international appearances. He is a very good header of the ball, has good first touch, and very sharp in the penalty box but his failure to find the net in his last 11 international appearances made him second to Teuku Salahuddin this time around.

NATIONAL TEAM

Image

COACH

Morten Troghil being manager of the team since its creation. Having real bad recent international season he, nevertheless, continue in his position.

PLAYERS

Team looked like if needed new blood and ideas, and probably MC is the place where work on the national team future outlook begin.

GOALKEEPERS

Tomas Kot Kotsson (31). Flexible and agile, quick-thinking, he recently made a quick progress – probably due to the hard work at the recent FA training camp for goalkeepers. Altought previously he was justifiable castigated for a big numbers of goals conceded, and there was doubts if he continue as number one, in the last tournaments he improved his game significantly, and conceded less goals than every other goalkeeper in the recent WCQ – but his form is not enough to save team from the defeats in WCQ and CoH.
Jesper Krogh (24). Player who already prove himself on a league level, fast and good at the second floor, without losing something in his first floor game skills, making some incredible saves in our league. At the MC he taste big game first time and having rather positive reviews, his only game in India Cup doesn’t prove obviously that he is fully ready for international football, in the WCQ he played twice and earn reputation.
Finnsnes Soderhelm (29). “Confidence come with experience”, – often said coaches, and it’s close to what happened to this goalkeeper. Having spent full first half of career mostly as backup in the first league teams, he move one floor down and soon return to the spotlight as a reliable and competent goalkeeper. With a lot of experience behing him, he is great in handling things in his domain, always cool-headed even in the most difficult situations, while giving sense of security to his teammates.

DEFENDERS

Jesper Loonstrup(24). Another man from unfortunate U21 team, he at last receive a ticket to the national team camp. He is flank defender in the preferred Trolleborg style – fast moving, adept in supporting attacking moves, willingly throw himself in the way of the ball, aggressive in tackling.
Aien Troger (28). He is fast, strongly build and extremely good in tackling. It’s very challenging to move into the box past him and he is made a serious progress for four seasons Trolleborg team played in the international football. Being (probably) in his prime years, he was a pillar of defence, but it will be seen whom coach paired him in the centre.
Joran Du Riis(27). Cold-blooded fighter prove that he more than capable holding his own at the highest level. Agile and fast-moving, but solidly builded and used this for his advantage, he prefers play either to the right of center or on the right side, as team needed.
William Schendel (25). Agile fast moving defender known for his skillful positioning and man-marking, highly effective in breaking opposition attacks, great in the heading, with incredible high crosses-interception rate.
Kasper Wolters (28). One of the team brightest stars, he is right back by default, but he is very strong, very fast, have a very good shot and even better crossing skill. Having all this, he very often make a lighting runs to the opposition box and sometime substitute right midfielder. Coach don’t take him into the last three tournament, experimenting
Torgeir Dushegub (31). Known as a Column, this tall and strong player usually dominates a box both in the air and at the grass. Being always calm and confidence, he projected aura of them around. Age advanced on him, but he was trying to live up to the fan expectations.
Winden Norgaard (24). This fast left defender recently prove in the Trolleborg League that he has everything needed for playing at that level. He stands out for his tenacity and fitness, often move forward to support attacks, but willingly return to his duties when needed.
Karsten Lindeblad (23). Robust right defender, fast and strong, with good position sense, he prove himself in the Trolleborg league as worthy opponent even for the best forwards, fighting for every ball and never give up. But it will be seen, if he can take a steps up in his career.

MIDFIELDERS

Rolf Valgren (31). Quick-thinking, with a perfect understanding of game, seeing everyone and everything in the field, and with brilliant passing skills, this man can bring ball everywhere he wants. He definitely add something from international experience, and his wealth of experience personified through by his calmness on the ball.
Torstein Halst (22). Right winger\forward, with a good passing, master of highly accurate long crosses and very well making in curved shots from outside the box. Willingness to fight for every ball, spare no effort, and, most importantly, improve his skills is what give this very young player a chance to play for national team.
Finn Finnsnes (31). Playing usually attacking midfielder, free forward or link man between midfielders and attackers, he is swift, smart, good dribbler with a great sense of goal possibilities. Having all this, he didn’t make solo runs without need, and has a habit to review every option before doing something, so opponents never know beforehand what he did next second.
Morten Troll (27). He is a brightest star amongst midfielders in the whole country. Genius of game, with a wonderful dribbling, beautiful technique, excellent pass and extremely good shot, he won many games for his local team single-handedly, but also a great team player with great repertoire of tricks. Highly probably, he will be a player of generation, and very probably, best player Trolleborg ever had. He brilliantly justified all the positive reviews even when team performance was rather uninspiring. Recently Troghil prefer to give other players chance to play in the centre, but looked like they they all lack something he has.
Kenneth Pathmoor (25). Recent addition to the team, Kenneth already play in the WCQ cycle, altought coach don’t selected him for the World Cup itself. But looked like everything is ahead for this versatile and clever midfielder, who can cover a lot of space and conjure goal opportunity for his forwards from nothing. With his pace, agility and an eye for goal he probably has a bright future. Kasper Windass (23). Broad and strong left midfielder, he looked a little bit sluggish when moving without ball, but everything changes when he have it. Then he moved extremely fast, sweeping away everything in its path due to his mighty build and usually ended move with a clever pass.
Jesper Lucius (23). With a perfect sense of game, this central midfielder usually can move ball to where it want with only one touch, and he is good with a set-pieces. Some say, he was like a Morten Troll in his younger years, and most probably backup for him right now.
Jesper Gronholm (25). Recent addition to the team, he was comfortable down the right flank as either defender or midfielder. Competenly hold his own while in defence, he was willingly join any move forward, where he pass ball quickly and thoughtfully.
Jorpen Kjelle (22). Left midfielder, prefer to move almost hugging left-hand touchline. He was as comfortable when playing left midfielder as he is operating as left defender, but not too inventive in attacks.

FORWARDS

Stuart Kerr (31). Quick, brave, skillful, moved fast despite age, love to puzzle defenders and having ability shot from everywhere in the box right despite defenders best efforts. Brilliantly confirmed his reputation as a prolific scorer at home, he was definitely keystone of team that winning BoF, winning a prize for the topgoalscorer of BoF and continue to add goals in almost every tournament.
Tom Gulbranden (29). Build like a very tall stone wall, he easily can tramp defenders if he wish to do so. He don’t need such a things, though. Altought never shies physical contacts with defenders and having often put opponents under pressure, he can move past defenders with surprising speed, it’s difficult to knock ball out of his possession, and his powerful leaping give him many advantages. Yes, it is looked impossible, that a man of such a stature can bring himself in the air at all, but nevertheless he is – strongly jumping and struck the ball by the head with deadly precision, scoring many of the most beautiful goals of the team.
Torgeir Berglund (24). Another recent addition to the squad, effective center forward in front of goals, having something in common in both Kerr and Gulbranden despite their visible differences. Being teamed with Jivoglot at the last tournamens, he looked like a very menacing and already prove his goal-scoring talents.
Torfinn Jivoglot (22). Albeit very young, he is already established player in the Trolleborg league with a very decent play-to-goal rate. Very fast, reading game perfectly, with a strong goal flair, he will probably have a bright future.
Karsten Herring (22). Having two pairs of forwards, Troghil nevertheless take another one to Sendhang. Most recent addition to the team, he was on the way to be exceptional quick skillful forward, having all the makings of it. Having learned things or two about how to slip his marker, he has good technique, make almost all his goals with only one touch.

TEAM TACTICS AND GAME STYLE

Team practiced attractive attacking game on a fast pace, and already its style well-known and liked by public. Usually played 4-4-2 with defenders pressed forward whatever possible, or 3-5-2 with a midfielders move back and forth as things dictated. Integral and inalienable part of the team’s game will be mighty pressing, applied whatever on the field when ball is not on our side.

National psyche tell players to put everything even if odds are heavily against, so almost every match in the league played with high determination, and national team shirt oblige one who wore it for even more efforts – altought it was visible, that players often lose breath when unexpected setbacks occur. Unsportsmanlike behavior is highly discouraged even if in the interests of the cause, and national team players are required to meet the highest standards possible, so it is completely impossible to imagine a player of the Trolleborg national team faking injury or begging for a penalty. But players are not easily bullied, though, and more than able to stand up for themselves both as individuals and as a team, and have a strong inclination to go tit-for-tat in case of excessive brutality on the opponent’s part.

Style -5.
No, there was no confusion, team played attacking football on the field, while having negative style modifier for a scorinating purposes.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my goalscorers: Yes
Godmod scoring events: No
RP injuries to my players: Yes, but I reserve right to estimate injury severeness
Godmod injuries to my players: No
Hand out yellow cards to my players: Yes
Hand out red cards to my players: Yes only for a last ditch fouls or two yellows, any other variants must be discussed with me
Godmod other events: No, but if you have something interesting in mind, let me know and we try to find a middle ground.

Trolleborg Republic will organize trips for a fans and they wil arrive in the host countries in a very big batches, by thousands.

MEDIA

Recently opened Trolleborg TV-Sport channel try to do it best to provide everyone with a 3D broadcasting of every game, altought you must understood limitations of technology, which was in their first steps. Problems with color shades, difficulties with communication channels and so on are rather often happens. We already see changing the colors of the uniforms, the appearance of the stadium, women on the field replaced by the men and much more. Greetings, compatriots!
It’s TTV from Sendhang with recent news from our beloved national team. Our players again take part in the Melayu Cup, with a burning desire to make a mark in the history of this tournament. But we must warn everyone, that the same desire they have every time we are going go Melayu and never progressed even into the playoff or at least match number of loses with a number of victories. First game is against Tanah Jaya, that was literally put our lads into the mud in the first game of tournament two years ago, when things are looked like this is not football, but rather mud wrestling, and home team having won tightly fought contest mostly, as we all agree at the time, due to the terrible weather and field conditions.

Image
Our national team is already arrived at the spot, and checked in the hotel near the Larantuka, where they will play all group stage games. Hotel located in the quiet but spectacular locations near the inner sea of Sendhang, looked more like a forest chalet than hotel, but complete with everything needed for a comfortable life between the toils of footballer life.

It has every facility that our lads needed for a work, and, this is must be underwritten, having cook who is familiar with a South Pacific cuisine. Abundance of exotic foods and fruits in Melayu Archpelago is a real big plus for our fans, but team must adhere to some rules.

Image
Team train hard at the gyms and on the training field, hoping to acclimatize successfully for a conditions of tropical islands. After spend more than hour in the gym, team then use three hours to train of the field. Looked like players concentrate on the fast moves and most efficient way of using pressing in the tropical conditions. Forwards in the last hour take their own lessons as a group. Probably coach prepare them for a something spectacular.

Morten Troghil already give us a lineup and formation of the team in the first game:
Image

Looked like he decide not to try every new player in the first game, just added some new flavours to the already known recipe.

Image
Having say that, we must add also, that not only players of international stature can have such a luxurious comforts in the hotel. Almost every Trolleborg citizen has the opportunity to enjoy the same pleasures without emptying the wallet. And this is what the national leader calls on all the inhabitants of the country to do. Our ancestors and we ourselves worked hard while creating the wealth of our country, and for which reason we did it if not for that we all can enjoy the opportunities that it provides?

Qualifying to the quarter-final of the 80th Cup of Harmony was a great achievement for Eraman especially considering the national team was not even expected to make it out of the group after not playing a single competitive football match for over a year before the 88th World Cup qualifiers.

The quarter-final match against Krytenia though didn’t go the Eramanians way as they lost 3-2 to the eventual runner-up of the tournament. It was unexpectedly a hard-fought match. Krytenia was the hot favorite to win but the Eramanians put up a commendable fight.

Ross Hearkerner, the head coach of the Eraman national team was more than pleased with his boys and he made sure the players know it.

“I am very proud of you, boys. You have made 14 million Eramanians proud,” he said in the dressing room after the defeat against Krytenia.

Then the first foreign Eraman national team head coach went on to make an important announcement.

“Now I want everybody to go home and spend quality time with your family. I will meet every single one of you back in Daulapura a week from now. We are going to Sendhang,”

The team captain, Putra Daulapura Suara Petara and the vice-captain, Badang Gangsa looked at each other. They have planned to make the 80th Cup of Harmony their last tournament to give way to the new generation to step up. But their head coach from Brenecia had just call them up again for the next international duty.

“One more trip?” asked Badang to Suara who sat next to him in the dressing room.

“One more trip. Let’s go,” replied his captain.

Those dressing room exchanges made them postpone their international retirement. The new generation will have to wait because Suara and Badang will be leading Eraman to the 8th Melayu Archipelago Cup.

Dinamo Thetford "The Red Horse"

Dinamo Thetford CEO Lucas Trident is confident that the presence of former Spartak Eaglearm coach Kazlan Springbreaker will be able to boost the performance of ‘The Red Horse' squad to face the Lathamford National League Season 18. He said Springbreaker needed more friendly matches to form the best combination between the players.

"The new coach wants to know the players so I think we give Springbreaker a chance to get to know his players and I see now he is more prepared," he told reporters here, yesterday. Asked about Dinamo Thetford's lackluster performance in several friendly matches, Trident said Dinamo Thetford had not fielded the strongest line-up in previous friendly matches.

“Dinamo Thetford has yet to field our main squad because all main players have been given leave and they have never played again until now. "The last two weeks are very important for Dinamo Thetford to strengthen player compatibility. Therefore, I understand that several friendly matches have been arranged with Red Star Holyrock and a club from abroad to ensure Dinamo Thetford is ready for the first match of the league," he said.

At the same time, he is confident that the presence of several quality new players will be able to strengthen the team's machinery to face the Lathamford National League Season 18 competition. "The combination of Alan Caskwoods, Lathamians international Otto Farrowsteam, and Ken Cinderfeather is forming the backbone of the team for this season," he said.

At a piece of relevant news, ‘The Red Horse’ team made a two-day motivational visit to several interesting rural locations as a step to plan the team's strategy and direction for the Lathamford National League Season 18 competition which will begin in early August. Therefore, the motivational program started yesterday with a visit to the Peterfull Wildlife Center before leaving for rafting on the Winchester river park and to the Spearhead Highland Resort (SHR).

Dalrymple shrugs off criticism off “plastic Bundokos”

Ahead of the Leopard Cats’ highly anticipated debut at the CMFA MA Cup, which will pit them against the defending champions from the Southern Palm Islands, head coach Chad Dalrymple has dismissed criticism of a squad that some charge is overly dependent on nationalized players of foreign origin. Around half of the 23-man squad he has unveiled were born or spent significant parts of their youth overseas, and six of the expected MD1 starting XI were born in Græntfjall or Schutzenphalia and West Ruhntuhnkuhnland. “Every player pulling on the blue-and-purple has won their place fairly, in compliance with all WCC, FFI and CMFA regulations,” said Dalrymple. “And so long as they play with Berdeng Bundok in their heart, I don’t care where they were born.”

The weak Bundoko domestic football system, which have only recently become organized enough to consider submissions to international competition, has always been augmented by links to the islands’ former colonial powers in Rushmore. Captain Lukas Gellner, who was born and raised in Schutzenphalia and West Ruhntuhnkuhnland before moving to Berdeng Bundok at the age of 18, is one of a number of players of mixed heritage. He qualified after his residency period by virtue of a Bundoko grandmother. Three of his teammates share a common background: Schutzenphalian father, Bundoko mother, while other starters include goalkeeper Eilífur Basan, who has a Græntfjaller father and Bundoko mother. As many as seven languages are spoken in the changing room – with Commonspeak [English] and Schutzenphalian [German] the preferred defaults given the majority of squad members do not speak Tagalog.

“This is more about our future as a team than our past as individual players,” says Gellner. “I’m very proud to wear the Bundoko Blue.” He demurred, however, on whether he and other Schutzenphalian-born players would sing the anthem before the match, joking: “I don’t think even Paco or JJ know the words!”, in reference to ethnically Bundoko players Paco Limjap and JJ Tanjutco. Yoshi Niévez, the experienced full-back who calls himself “110% Bundoko”, said there was no animosity in the squad towards nationalized players. “We live in a global economy. Many Bundokos move abroad for work. Why shouldn’t people move around? I don’t think it’s for any of us to say these guys don’t belong.”

As for their chances on the pitch, Dalrymple admitted that regardless of his team’s makeup, they faced a tough path to the quarter finals, needing to finish in the top two in a group containing MA Cup veterans Tanah Jaya, the defending champions from SPI, and World Cup heavyweights Trolleborg. “But we’re excited about giving it our best shot.” The team is expected to rely on the defensive midfield corps of Samuel Fessler and Stefan Hertzfeld to run possession, while all eyes will be on young strikers Adriano Bernardino and Knút Tsukada up front to supply the goals. Gellner, anchoring the defense and leading a multicultural team with ages ranging from 19 to 33, will have a big role to play.

National goalkeeper, Rolf Hydradust, hopes to get into the good books of national football coach Anton Glasstriumph to be the top goalie in the nation’s main eleven football squad. The 29-year-old goalkeeper is now Glasstriumph’s second choice after Glen Greenash did well and displayed consistency in the domestic football league.

Hydradust was benched and was only fielded twice in friendly matches in the games that saw Lathamford wrest for better results in international games. “If I can I would like to be the main goalkeeper in next 8th MAC, he told SportLink here yesterday.

The Dinamo Thetford Super League keeper said despite whatever team spirit was utmost in his mind.

Hydradust and Glen Greenash are now training at Sealock Training Center since last Thursday for the MAC 8th campaign which The Speedy Cat draw to Group A with the host, Sendhang, Libonesia, and another top team, Eraman.

“Just like other players, I also do additional training after training by goalkeeping coach, James Close, to improve to a higher level,” he said.

Asked about the skills of Glen Greenash, he said the Red Star Holyrock Super League keeper was highly confident. “However I always have healthy competition with him and it is good for both of us,” he said. Hydradust was earlier the first choice keeper for Glasstriumph for international friendlies including the match with Hundredstar in July.

Just like other players, I also do additional training after training by goalkeeping coach, James Close, to improve to a higher level

His consistency received praise from Glasstriumph and he replaced Otto Baymartin who is now the top goalkeeper for the Lokomotive Featherwood Super League squad.

8TH MELAYU ARCHIPELAGO CUP

The inaugural season of the Liga Super Sendhang was something Teuku Salahuddin will never forget. He helped KS Tapaklaboh to the league title and was awarded the striker of the year, young player of the year as well as the golden boot award. Combined with the fact that the number 1 striker in the country, Gusti Sing Nggawe is shooting blank on the international scene with no goal in his last 11 international appearances, Teuku Salahuddin was picked as the main striker to lead the national team in the 8th Melayu Archipelago Cup at home.

The 8th Melayu Archipelago Cup was special for the whole country as it was the first time Sendhang hosted an international football championship on its soil. It was more special for Teuku Salahuddin because the group stage was held at Tapaklaboh Stadium, a stadium that he knows very well. As the host, Sendhang was drawn in Group A alongside Eraman, Libonesia, and Lathamford. On paper, while Sendhang is not a regional powerhouse, none of the other nations in group A can be considered a powerhouse either. None of the nations in Group A have ever won anything. That made Sendhangites fancied their chance.

The opening match of the tournament was between Sendhang and Eraman. Eraman can be considered as Sendhang’s main obstacle in the group stage as they have just come back from a successful Cup of Harmony campaign qualifying to the quarter-final at the tournament where all the other Melayu Archipelago nations were knocked out in the group stage. Sendhang though refused to give too much respect to the Eramanians as they have something to prove in front of their own fans.

Tapaklaboh Stadium was packed with 30,000 fans inside the stadium with thousands more outside for the occasion. But sadly, the highlight of the match was not the match itself but the aftermath of the match which saw the Sendhangites ran amok after failing to get the 3 points in the opening match. The match ended in a dull 0-0 draw and as soon as the referee from Hundrestar blew the final whistle, objects were thrown into the field targetting the Eramanians on the pitch and in the stands. An ugly scene in Tapaklaboh as several fans were injured and many more arrested.

What was supposed to be a memorable day for Sendhang turned into a day that most Sendhangite wanted to forget immediately especially for Teuku Salahuddin who missed an easy chance in the match. He can’t help himself but feel guilty for the mess the country was in.

“All of this would not happen if I didn’t miss a simple tap in,” he said to his national team roommate, Joroq as they watched the news in their room.

“Don’t be too hard on yourself,” said Joroq who tried to make Salahuddin feels better. “You score in the next match then they will forget tonight ever happened,” but then puts more pressure on him unintentionally.

Salahuddin can’t sleep that night. He can’t stop thinking about how his lapse of concentration for a few seconds caused so much destruction.

Leopard Cats held to draw by frustrating late defensive lapse

The Leopard Cats came within one minute of beating defending champions Southern Palm Islands on their MA Cup debut, before substitute Ratwanarayana headed in a Rana Shariyar to break Bundoko hearts. The exciting match finished a 2–2 draw as the Leopard Cats twice scored, only to surrender their lead both times. “We played pretty well and it was maybe a missed opportunity to take a big win,” said captain Lukas Gellner, who scored with a thumping header three minutes into the second half to give his team a lead they would hold for virtually the entire second half. “At the end, maybe it was a bit of a difference in fitness and match awareness that told, as much as anything.”

The Leopard Cats started cautiously but grew in confidence as the game progressed, culminating in a 22nd minute goal, the first in MA Cup history for a Bundoko player, when Paco Limjap finished off a fine move created by a good run from Anton Rauscher. Adriano Bernardino was unable to turn in the ensuing cross but Michael Darmraj’s clearance fell only as far as Limjap, who brought the ball down and placed it well inside the left post. Shaken, the Southern Palm Islands responded well and bossed the game for the next 15 minutes, making an equalizer almost inevitable. Pelvin Brothasear’s pass split the defense and a good finish by Peter Plascas pulled the ball across goal and past Eilífur Basan.

Despite conceding twice, Basan had a good game, making eight saves. Rauscher was named man of the match for his work up and down the left wing, though as tiredness crept in he earned a booking for a clumsy foul on Peter Feachell and was shortly thereafter substituted for his brother, Zeke. The Leopard Cats have another huge game coming up, against Trolleborg, whose world ranking of 36th is the highest of any MA Cup entrant; known as a defensive powerhouse, they held Tanah Jaya to a scoreless draw in their opening match. Leonides Buenavidez is expected to replace Samuel Fessler, who picked up a mild ankle sprain, but no other changes are anticipated.

(OOC: This is a continuation of a story which I started in the 7th CMFA. The most recent part can be found here.)

The 11:03 bus from Playa del Mal arrived at the terminal with a loud earsplitting squeal of the brakes. That wasn't really a good thing; those things could have failed on the way here and our latest loanee from the Royals could have been delayed on her way here or worse. At least she was finally here now. That was one less thing for me to worry about.

I raised up the large sheet of cardboard paper I had in my hands once the passengers started getting off of the bus, but I still had to wait until everyone else had deboarded before the person that I was waiting for actually came into view. A woman wearing non-descript clothing and carrying a large blue and white gym bag got off the bus and looked around. She eventually saw me holding up the sign with her name on it, and she walked over to where I was standing.

"Elena Arreola?" I asked, just to be sure.

"Yeah, that's me," she nodded.

"Hi, I'm Helen Josephus," I said, holding out my hand for her to shake. "I'm an assistant coach for the Cote de Facilier Barons. I'm gonna be your ride to the stadium where you'll have the medical and make your loan official."

"Oh, great!" Elena said. "I was kinda worried about finding a ride into town. This terminal's a bit far away from the rest of the town, don't you think?"

"Yeah, the center of town's a bit cramped because it's all old wooden buildings," I replied. "There were plans to put a new bus terminal there, but the historical preservation society shot it down. Come on, my ride's over here." I led Elena out into the car park. My father had an off day at the hospital so I was able to borrow his car for today. I let Elena put her bags in the trunk, and then we got in and I drove out back into town and towards the stadium. An awkward silence fell over us as I got onto to the highway, a silence that was only magnified by the fact that I only belatedly remembered that the car radio was broken when I tried fiddling with it. We spent maybe five minutes or so in this awkwardness before we passed by a sign with the words BIENVENUE À CÔTE DE FACILIER, and then I felt that I finally had an opening to start a conversation. "Well, here we are," I said. "Cote de Facilier. It's not much, but it's home to me. And, for the next season, it's going to be your home too."

"Oh," Elena said. "It actually looks, well, nice."

"Nice? What do you mean by that?" I asked.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend you," Elena apologized. "I don't know. I just thought this place would be... smaller."

"Oh, yeah, that," I nodded my head. "That's okay. That's a common thought for everyone to have when they come to La Cote for the first time. Everyone just thinks that we're a much smaller place than we really are. I mean, we're bigger than Jafar City in terms of area, but they've got a bigger population. But all that means is that they're all stuck together while here, we've got room to breathe."

"I'll say," Elena muttered. "It doesn't feel so... cramped. Maybe it's because there's not a lot of skyscrapers here. Everything feels more open to me."

"And we've also got the sea right next to us, so we got that going for us as well," I said.

"Yeah," Elena nodded. "What did you call it again? La Cote?"

"Yeah," I nodded back. "I mean, Cote de Facilier is just a handful to say, and if you say just Facilier around these parts, people might think you're talking about the good Doctor himself."

"Ah, okay," Elena said. "It's beautiful, though. La Cote. Like just saying that automatically makes you think of a seaside paradise."

"Yeah, that much just about sums up Cote de Facilier," I said. "We're just a peaceful town on the seaside of the Island of the Lost. Probably, if we didn't have a team in the League of the Lost, nobody apart from us natives would know or care about this place. But you can help us change all that, though," I told Elena. "You can help us get off the foot of the table and stop being the laughingstocks of the league. I know that that's probably a lot to ask of you at the moment, but hey. The team's excited, the staff are excited, the club is excited. Besides, we can't do any worse than we did last season, huh?"

"Here's to hoping," Elena nodded.

"Here we are," I said as we arrived at the parking lot of the training ground. "Welcome to the Stade Jean-Pierre Blanchard. It'll be your home for the next year or so. It's a Tuesday so everyone should be out there getting ready and training up for the first preseason friendly. I'll introduce you to anybody we come across."

And, just as luck would have it, who else would we run into first inside the training center than Betty Henderson and her friends. They looked like they were fresh out of the locker rooms and were just reporting for training when we came across them. Betty waved at me and said to me, "Hey, Helen!" And then she and her friends Andy and Diana noticed the other person with me, and their eyes widened collectively. "Holy—!" Diana exclaimed.

"Is that... is she...?" Andy asked.

"Yep, she is," I nodded. "Gals, this is Elena Arreola. Elena, these girls are Betty Henderson, Andrea Coleman, and Diana MacTavish. They're currently with the youth academy, but they could find themselves breaking into the first team anytime this season. Especially Betty here."

"Hi," Elena said as she shook everyone's hands. "Nice to meet you all. I'm looking forward to playing with all of you this season."

"Ah, Elena!" a familiar voice called out. We turned around and watched as Alaric Henderson, manager of the Cote de Facilier Barons, approached us. "I see that you're finally here," Alaric told Elena. "And I also see that you've met my daughter Betty."

"Your daughter?" Elena asked, and then realization dawned on her face. "Oh, yes, of course," she said. "I should have realized. I should have known that there was a reason why Betty's name sounded familiar to me."

"Ah, don't worry about it," Alaric waved off. "Henderson is a pretty common surname. Anyway, we're just about ready to make your registration to our squad this season official, so if you'll come with me, we'll get you into your kit and prep you for the club announcement."

As Elena followed Alaric to the the indoor court where we did the photoshoots for our club's latest signings, Betty walked up to me and asked, "So how was the ride to the terminal and back? Did Elena say anything about playing for the Royals?"

"Yeah, no, we didn't really get to talk much about sports on the way here," I admitted. "But I don't know, Bethany. I think I've got a good feeling about this. I don't know why, but I just have a good feeling about this season."

"How many times do I have to tell you, don't call me Bethany!" Betty reminded me with an elbow into my side.

"Ow!" I shouted. "That's an extra fifty sprints for you, Henderson!" I told her.

"And it'll be worth every step," Betty said back, and then she, Andy, and Diana continued on their way towards the main practice pitch.
