Batting analysis per player:
Romeijnders: Avg: 24, S/R: 127.66, Runs: 120, Not Outs: 0, Innings: 5
Romeijnders has not been in the best of form this tournament, but still has 120 runs across 5 innings, with a decent strike rate and attractive shots. Seems more of an ODI player, but still excellent.

Hiramew: Avg: 47.5, S/R: 127.52, Runs: 190, Not Outs: 1, Innings: 5
Hiramew has been in magnificent form opening the batting, to begin the tournament. 82* and 55 were the opening two scores, giving an average of 137 after two games. It wasn't to last though, and the opener has struggled since.

Kawauso: Avg: 30.25, S/R: 159.21, Runs: 121, Not Outs: 0, Innings: 4
Probably better suited to number four. Some good innings, but struggles against opening quicks, preferring first-change. Enough to stay, but should be doing more.

Ottaa Avg: 55, S/R: 123.13, Runs: 165, Not Outs: 2, Innings: 5
Ottaa opened the tournament in dismal form, beginning with a duck on debut, followed by just 14 in the next match. Once she found form though, she scored 24, 67* and 60*, hinting at more to come in the remainder of the tournament, and dragging her average high.

Altink: Avg: 16.4, S/R: 96.47, Runs: 82, Not Outs: 0, Innings: 5
Awful. Best score was a slow 56 on a completely flat track against poor bowlers, and consistently failed in other games. Needs to hit form quickly.

Otto: Avg: 23, S/R: 108.24, Runs: 85, Not Outs: 2, Innings: 5
Solid but unremarkable. Probably needs a few more runs. (OOC: Also, please attribute all bowling by the ghost player 'Ananias' to Otto, I messed up the roster badly)

Dreessotter: Avg: 39, S/R: 205.26, Runs: 39, Not Outs: 3, Innings: 4
Good batting to close out an innings, with a nice high average and sound offensive and defensive technique.

Shinotta: Avg: 14, S/R: 140, Runs: 14, Innings: 3, Not Outs: 2
Another good lower-order player, who can chip in when the Garbeli are close to victory.

Kawa: Avg: 11, S/R: 137.5, Runs: 11, Innings: 1, Not Outs: 0
Unremarkable lower-order batting.

Mog: Avg: N/A, S/R: 33.33, Runs: 2, Innings: 1, Not Outs: 1
A couple of good blocks in his only innings.

Skritkyposs: Avg: N/A, S/R: N/A, Runs: N/A, Innings: N/A, Not Outs: N/A
Has not batted!

Lineup for the next game:
Romeijnders
Hiramew
Ottaa
Kawauso
Nagel
Dreessotter
De Ven
Shinotta
Kawa
Mog
Skritkyposs

The Annasholm Sentinel

A tense struggle against Lisander and Alice Bay came down to the last ball. [Editor's note: literally every game of cricket, by definition, ends with the last ball, but whatever.] However, despite leading by example, Callo Kemdawn was unable to hit a critical boundary with the game on the line; a single run let him and Zhobie Bostwa swap wickets, but left Rundel three runs short of the target 166.

"I mean, when we overtook Quebec and Shingoryeo the other day, they didn't have us keep batting, as fun as that would have been to add some other records to the record book," mulled Nimp Toutch. "Instead we get the schadenfreude of watching them clear the field early, and the fans can go home in time for their favorite beverage. One ought to be used to climactic finishes. All the same..." Surprisingly, Foheb Mauk of the Skurgway was not available for comment on the ethics of climactic finishes, although if it involves pleasure and fulfillment he's probably against it.

Rundel face Krytenia in their last match of the group stage; the second-pot side are tied with Ko-oren and Bollonich in a closely-fought Group A. "No one can be sure what the game will hold," said a rueful Kemdawn, "but certainly we will strive our utmost until the final ball is bowled, just like every other game of cricket that proceeds in a linear manner."

The Karvian Tigers

Bollonich take the game down to the wire; It all comes down to the final Matchday

Coming into the game the Bollonischian had had a good rest after some interesting and energetic games. Before the bye, Bollonich had also recorded a great victory against Ko-oren. Coming into the match against Quebec and Shingoryeo we were confident and had immense form behind us, which was something the Quebecois players and team lacked as they had lost their 3 previous matches. However something to look forward to whether Bollonich would be able to retain the form they had shown in the matches before the break and whether the break would cause a break in the brilliant form of Bollonich. Th match was being played under lights at the Folenisa Cricket Ground in Folenisa. The toss was won by the Quebecois captain who decided to put Bollonich into bat. The batting order had shown good form in the match against Ko-oren whoever this form would have to continue to put up a competitive total to chase.
Merritt and Simmons got off to a flyer scoring 31 in 3 overs. However a flurry of wickets resulted in the score being 39 for 3 wickets in 5 overs. The Batting line was seeing a number of wickets tumbling with very few runs on the board. Hale who came out to bat got off to a good start scoring some runs but staying at the pitch seemed to be something everyone struggled to do. Following Hale’s dismissal Foster came out to bat. She seemed determined to put up a good performance as something special would be needed to put Bollonich back on the right track. In a time where the entire Bollonischian Batting order seemed to be losing their wickets Foster somehow managed to keep strike and score. However at the other end no one seemed to stick and soon we were down to the bowlers. Foster had scored her first 50 of the competition putting up a brilliant 73 off 50 balls. And after losing all 10 wickets we managed to reach total of 158. Something we had defended as well as reduced teams to before, however if we were to repeat it the bowlers would have to put up a performance.
Quebec and Shingoryeo despite not getting off to a quick start lost 3 early wickets giving the Bollonischian bowlers something to celebrate about. The Quebecois despite consistently scoring at a steady pace lost frequent wickets and the run rate never took off. And by the last over 15 is what Quebec and Shingoryeo needed to defeat Bollonich. They needed to score 15 off 6 balls which would be quite a tough ask. However they are close needed only 7 off the last 2 balls. However a dot and double in the last 2 balls won the game fir Bollonich putting us at first position. This win would be a crucial one for us to ensure direct qualification and the we secure our position in the Round of 16 without having to appear in the Play-in round. We could even finish first in the group if Krytenia lose to Rundel and we manage to win our next game against Vilita and Turori. We could still qualify as first place from Group a if all three teams Bollonich, Krytenia and Ko-oren win their respective games we are most likely to qualify due to Head to Head NRR. Despite circumstances, the only way we shall be qualifying is and only if we defeat Vilita and Turori in our next game around which all of our future prospects revolve.

“I was getting pretty uncomfortable when Walkins was getting going there. Good to see Louie getting rid of him in the end wasn’t it?” Éamon Kelly said. It was more of a statement than a question, even if it technically was one. And it was good to see Walkins gone. He had batted superbly and it looked for a long time as if he was going to steer TJUN-ia to a win. Louie Doolan had stepped up with a beautiful piece of bowling to dismiss the opener and that was when TJUN-ia’s hopes of victory were extinguished for good.

“We cannot rest on our laurels now lads,” Fr. Colm said authoritatively. “We play The Sarian back at the Bastion and it looks like we’re going to need to win if we want to qualify from this group.”

“No pressure then, eh Father?” Ciarán Mannion said, glancing up with a smirk on his face. “I thought that using the spinners here in Schimpol was going to lose us this game but it must have all been part of the masterplan, right? You were helping them keep their eye in, weren’t you Fr. Colm?”

“That was down to Niall, Ciarán.” Fr. Colm replied sternly. “It’s been a tough tournament for Michael and Tomás but this ground is definitely much more suited to them. I must say I was surprised in your decision-making Niall.”

“Yeah, sorry Father.” Niall said sheepishly, a hint of pink touching his cheeks. A couple of the lads let out ironic ‘oohs’ reminiscent of kids in a classroom poking fun at their friend who had been told off by the teacher. Niall played up to the teacher’s pet role with Fr. Colm and the lads were always on his case if the priest criticised their captain. It was a rare occurrence and any jibes were meant in jest.

“Anyway Ciarán,” Éanán Mac Giolla Seanáin piped up, “I’m still not sure what you were seeing out there. How did you decide to go for a run there?”

“Ah will you leave it out Éanán,” Lorcán Ó Grianna grinned. “Ciarán had put a few runs together and was just getting confident! I still can’t believe I saw him hit a four with my own eyes!”

The Annasholm Sentinel

In a dramatic reversal of the previous match against Lisander and Alice Bay, this time it was Rundel who won the game on what would have been the last ball of the game either way but fortuitiously gave Loran Dellus a two. "Aye, I was just running from the get-go," said Dellus, "I had confidence I could make the chase if given the chance. Callo [Kemdawn] though, I don't want to bad-mouth him, he's a wonderful captain, but his speed perhaps isn't what it used to be...But anyway he was up to the occasion and I'm quite pleased, of course."

In the first innings, Krytenia set a target of 176, which proved to be the perfect balance of challenge and approachability. "That six out to the Walton Road End rattled me a bit," said Danyal Aulbort, of the sixth batsman's boundary. "But the nice thing about cricket is you don't have time to be rattled much, only a few more deliveries and it's back out to the field to catch your breath a bit."

Rundel finish the group stage with a 3-3 record, and because of the tiebreakers in play, will face Eastfield Lodge in the play-in round. "Such frivolity and self-indulgence is unbecoming of a wholesome nation," scorned the ever-opinionated Foheb Mauk. "However, if our brethren must prolong these childish antics, I suppose it is better for them to do it in distant realms rather than at home corrupting their neighbors." No one has had the bravery to inform him of the number of his countrymen who need no further corruption to enjoy watching cricket, even or especially the matches that can go on for days at a time.

Stumps!: T20 Debut Isn't As Sweet As ODI

Postby TJUN-ia » Tue Jun 22, 2021 5:42 am

And so, after all the hype, Virat Indushapa's debut as white-ball coach ends with both positives and negatives.

On the one hand, TJUN-ia learnt the hard way that the T20 is a very different beast compared to the ODI game. Most of our 4 losses were convincing and that loss to Fodhla in particular was a hard one to take.

On the other hand, half of our games were pretty good in showing just how good this team can be at this code - with that tight loss to The Sarian and both Malandrin and Barunia showcasing our promise.

In the end, Roger Ntini tried his best to push through with the tactics pioneered by Joseph Gregorson - sometimes that worked and sometimes it did not. Whether or not not the current playbook is sustainable is a question for another time, but one thing we do know is this:

No matter the format, TJUN-ia will be back!

SCHIMPOL (UPA)—Uncertainty’s national cricket team qualified by the skin of their teeth – a mere 0.138 on net run rate (NRR) standing between them and failure to progress to the play-in round – but face a future that is, perhaps typically, uncertain. Team coach driver Peter Ballard admitted they “still did not know what their best XI was” despite a convincing 7 wicket win over Garbelia. Captain Jack Harper, who was fined after the match by Bollonischian match referee Dorias Mariann Booth after the game for his slow over rate, relied on constant NRR updates from the dressing room as he plotted his way past Garbelia. Choko Romeijnders’s fine unbeaten 89 stood out for Garbelia but the opener was unable to lead their team to a defensible total as yet again a score in the 150s proved too low on the flat Orean surface. Ariana Cooper made a patient maiden fifty in the chase before Harper and Tom James upped the run rate to ensure they surpassed Garbelia on NRR.

The team has now decamped to Schimpol, where they will face Sylestone, semifinalists at the last GCF ODI Trophy, at the Island Cricket Arena. “We’ve played six games on the flat Orean deck and just when we’re working out what works there, we move to Schimpol,” said Ballard. The ICA is renowned as a seam bowling haven, meaning one of Mukesh Abhijeet or Thilakaratne Silva may make way for an extra seam option. Uncertainty will be boosted by the return of Schalk de Villiers, who appears to have recovered sufficiently from an ankle injury sustained against The Grearish Union to train with the team, but he is unlikely to be able to bowl.

A noted feature of the tournament to date has been Harper’s lack of faith in his part time options. de Villiers bowled his full allotment only once, all-rounder Naseem Latif went unused against Garbelia, and Jamarcus Pettygrove and Thehan Gunewardena have bowled just a single over each, while Harper himself is yet to bowl at all. But playing four front-line seamers would unbalance the side given the poor form of the all-rounders, notably Gunewardena who appears unselectable with the bat, and Latif whose sole fifty was unconvincing. The question over the opening partnership remains unresolved: the latest attempt paired Cooper with Shahbaz Bahawalanzai, who was dismissed for a second ball duck. Bahawalanzai dropped two catches, including Romeijnders on 21 – he would add another 68 runs afterwards – and may lose out to a return for Mike Griffin. While James and Cooper have shown encouraging form with the bat, the team’s top order remains inexperienced and brittle.

The biggest positive to date has been the form of seamer Seth Cameron. While Devon Roberts began the tournament in fine form he has struggled to take wickets, and Farooq Hasan remains extravagantly inconsistent, but Cameron has led the attack well, taking 8 wickets and adding some dynamic fielding off his own bowling. Abhijeet’s economy rate remains under 8 despite bowling on the flat Orean runfest pitch, but Silva has equalled his wicket haul in half as many games and appears to enjoy the confidence of Harper more. The eventual lineup aganst Sylestone remains up in the air but seems likely to include de Villiers as a batsman only, Griffin back as opener, and a possible recall for Vusumi Mntimande, which would pile pressure on Naseem Latif to fill the all-rounder role.

“The future is uncertain,” admits Harper, adding: “With, at least for now, a lower case u.”

Confident win against Kashyaps secures qualification

It was a tense game yesterday as the players recognised the significant permutations for group standings if they didn't win. Nerves were frayed, the pressure was on. They'd been performing well so far in the groups, pushing for that top spot. They had, throughout the schedule, began to fall back a little with Liventia surpassing them as the frontrunners of the group. Instead of looking forward, eyes were looking back. In particular, Baggieland and Kriegiersien looked particularly threatening - all three teams were level on points (Eastfield Lodge was too, but had already played all their games, facing a bye on the final day).

The route to qualification was clear, though not completely in Ethane's hands. First, we had to win. That was admittedly likely. We had the easiest game to bookend the group stage. Kashyaps had not yet won a game and the Red Kites confidently swatted them away, keeping their opponents winless and putting us in a position to qualify. In the end, their total was surpassed with a 4 in the first ball of the sixteenth over. Comfortable. If we lost, then we wouldn't deserve to qualify. Baggieland needed us to lose. If we won, they had no chance. They would draw level on points with us again, but we always had to head to head on them after beating them in our game against them. So their victory, in the end, only put them in the running for the play-in round, as because we won there was no chance of them coming second in the group.

That left only Kriegiersien. They had beaten us in our previous matchup, meaning that if they won in this game they would qualify ahead of us on head-to-head results, while we would enter the play-in round. Fortunately for us, Kriegiersien had the hardest game to end the group - the hosts. Liventia ended up winning the game by ten runs - an admittedly closer affair than our nerves would have wanted, but enough for Liventia to comfidently finish top of the group and for us to finish second. Perhaps unfairly considering their strongish performances in the groups, this meant Kriegiersien finished behind Eastfield Lodge in 5th.

Our work is really cut out for us in the knockouts though, with this team not quite up to par and still in a rebuilding stage ahead of the Esportivan and test cricket competitions coming up.
Esportivan and Proud.
<drawk> If the entirety of the nation of Ethane was covered in a single cubic foot of Ethane on its surface, lighting it all on fire would cause a 5.44 megaton blast.
Best WorldVision Finish: 2nd. Best World Cup Finish: Quarter-Finals. Best KPB Rank: 8th. Best WBC Finish: 1st.

The team had won their game earlier in the day and since then they had ate some dinner and watched the scores roll in from around the grounds on the hotel television. Some were eagerly awaiting the draw for the knockout stages, whilst others were playing cards and only keeping up with proceedings with a passing interest. Fr. Colm could be found on a big chair sat directly in front of the television. He had his glasses on and was intensely focused on the screen, listening eagerly. As ever the team’s captain, Niall de Búrca, could be found nearby. He was sat to the side of the priest, slightly behind him and he was concentrating too. He hadn’t been at his best in the past couple of games with neither bat nor in directing his field around.

“Well lads,” Fr. Colm jumped up all of a sudden, clapping his knees on the way up. “We know who we will be playing then. Hebitaka.”

“What do you know about them Father?” Lorcán Ó Grianna asked, looking up from a chessboard sat between him and Éamon Kelly.

“I will have to do some research, son. I must admit I’m not too well up on their team.” Fr. Colm said sheepishly. He hadn’t expected his team to get out of the groups, so researching teams from the other ones had seemed a bit silly. Yet here they were, finishing third behind the Plough Islands and Damukuni and on their way to the knockout stages. That those two nations were the only two to have beaten them was a testament to the players improving on the job and they hadn’t been too far away from getting an enormous upset against Damukuni either.

Fodhla’s wins had been built on fairly restrictive bowling and the total they had managed in the final game against The Sarian had been their best in the tournament. They had been getting better with the bat in each game. They hit fifteen boundaries against The Sarian, eleven fours and four sixes, it had been a really strong performance with the bat. Éamon Kelly had summed it up by coming in to face only two balls right at the end of the innings, hitting the second of the two for a final six. Fr. Colm wasn’t sure he had ever seen the young spin bowler do that. He had been brought as a bowler who could bat a bit, but ‘bat’ in this case meant hit a few singles and twos. It didn’t mean hit a brilliant sweep over the boundary rope. He had to congratulate his players.

“Lads, I’d just like to say today was a fantastic batting performance. Really aggressive, always on the front foot and trying to put runs on the board. Really well done, you should all give yourselves a pat on the back.” Fr. Colm said. A couple of players looked up from their board games. They were a bit surprised. The ‘well dones’ had come after the game already.

“Aw shucks Father.” Ciarán Mannion replied as he feigned wiping a tear from his eye. “Stop, you’ll make me cry in a minute with all this praise! I thought we’d gotten it all already.”

“Ever the joker Ciarán eh?” Fr. Colm gave a rare smile. “No, you’ve all done really well. We came here with no expectations and we’ve generally held our own. The Plough Islands were the only team to comprehensively beat us and that’s down to you lads all giving your all, taking instruction fantastically well and learning so much in such a short space of time. I’m proud of you all.”

“Wow, thanks Father.” Fiachna Ó hÁilgheasa said as he looked around with surprise written across his face.

“There’s no reason why we can’t go a bit further.” Niall said confidently. “As long as we keep pulling together and trying to improve…” Fr. Colm smiled again. That was why he had picked Niall to be captain. He always had the right attitude.

The Karvian Chronicle

A close victory against Vilita and Turori as we top Group A

We needed a win, that was all we needed to go through directly without having to appear in the play in round. A win could also possibly guarantee us top spot meaning we would get a favourable draw. We were up against an unranked side in Vilita and Turori and despite being unranked we had shown in this World T20 Championship that we were here to compete and fight for glory. We were in red hot form coming into this game and also had a good rest before the game against Quebec and Shingoryeo. We were the favourites against Vilita and Turori but we knew the worth of not underestimating our opponents as many teams had done against us and paid the price. The game was being played at 18:00 local time at the Dawston Ground in Ocean, a ground where we had previously played only one game which had also resulted in a win but the overall lack of game time at the stadium was worrying. And that’s why on winning the toss Waterson chose to bowl so as to pace our innings better in the second half.
The unidentifiable Vilita and Turori openers took to the crease as Lorrey started the bowling. Vilita and Turori got off to a flyer as they scored 29 off only 2.3 overs as Lorrey was bowling. This start was important as they also hadn’t lost any wickets yet, however soon a wicket fell as Lorrey picked up the wicket of [REDACTED]. Horne also soon picked up a wicket however failing to reduce the scoring rate of Vilita and Turori as they kept scoring at a steady pace which could be problematic for us. Following what was a great 3rd wicket partnership, Vilita and Turori had made 123 off 14 overs which meant if they continued in the aggressive manner they had been playing in they could easily score around 200. However soon wickets started to tumble as they approached the home stretch. From 123 for 2 they went to 177 for 7 in the space of 5 overs showing how effective the bowlers were during the latter stages of the innings, despite failing to restrict them to a lower target. Vilita and Turori had posted a respectable total of 182, something we had the capability to chase and had chased before but doing so was in no sense an easy task. But that was what we were going to achieve. Merritt came out to bat with Simmons and soon the first wicket fell at only 6 runs scored in a mixup between Merritt and Simmons which ended up with Merritt being run out. We had just like that lost our highest scorer in the tournament at only 6 runs and the second over. Simmons also got out soon in the 4th over as he was clean bowled in what was an impressive in swinging delivery from [REDACTED]. We needed something, something to inspire us, something to put us back into the right path and at that moment came along Haggard and Hale a partnership between the two which stuck. The third wicket partnership scored 110 runs as both Haggard and Hale scored fifties with Haggard unfortunately getting out lbw in the 13th over. Hale continued the drive towards victory, with no one being able to give him company. Hale had been scoring but nobody’s with him at the other end until Irvine came along who managed to see out the game along with Hale giving Bollonich the win over Vilita and Turori with 2 wickets in hand. And with this victory we had topped the group as both Ko-oren and Krytenia lost their games, meaning Ko-oren finished 2nd ensuring direct qualification for themselves along with us. Not having to play in the play-in round was a great advantage as our players would get an extra rest day ahead of the Round of 16 allowing them to be fresh and ready for the game.

Pratapgadh To Face Ethane In Round Of Sixteen
Written By Rajeev Chauhan
Cricket

Pratapgadh ended up winning Group E after defeating the fifth-best T20 team in the world right now, Elejamie. Pratapgadh did so by winning five matches out of six, only losing to Dryicor and accumulating ten points ahead of Elejamie's eight points. Now after the Play-in round matches, it has been confirmed that Pratapgadh will be facing the 17th ranked team of Ethane in the round of sixteen. Though it seems that Pratapgadh are more than capable of beating Ethane, any underestimation could cost Pratapgadh the trophy. The Pratapgadh Men's National Cricket Team arrived in Liventia in hopes of reaching at least the semi-finals. Even if Pratapgadh were to beat Ethane, they would have to face either Liventia or Elejamie again. Both teams are ranked higher than Pratapgadh and have been on a roll in this tournament, so it's going to be a tough road ahead for the men in red and gold.

Pratapgadh had the best run rate and net run rate out of the seven teams in Group E. Pratapgadh finished their group stage with a run rate of 9.021 and a net run rate of 0.932. Compare this to the Sylestone that had the second-best net run rate of 0.637 and Dryicor that had the second-best run rate of 8.558. Pratapgadh have been clearly much more dominant than they ever have been and that's a good thing. This is mainly due to matches played against Starblaydia and Arjunnagar, winning the two games by 42 runs and 54 runs respectively. Group E also had less tough opponents, having three unranked teams, one pot four team in Sylestone, a pot three team in Hebitaka, a pot one team in Elejamie and Pratapgadh being the pot two team. However, Dryicor still managed to beat the Pratapgadhis by four wickets, so this group still had some teams capable of giving a fight. So what does this prove? It proves that Pratapgadh are no longer the underdogs and are a huge threat in this tournament.

After the group stage, we still had the play-in round to decide which teams would take the remaining six spots in the round of sixteen. Sylestone were able to beat Uncertainty to get into the round of sixteen. However, Hebitaka failed to win against Fodhla and its the end of their journey in the fourteenth edition of the GCF World Twenty20 Championship. Hebitaka will now head home to prepare for their home series against Pratapgadh, where they will be playing three T20Is and five ODIs. Once the Play-in round was completed, the round of sixteen was finally unveiled to the fans. The men in red and gold will be playing Ethane at Dawston Ground which benefits batsmen with its short boundaries. Here's what the card looks like:
R1 - Bollonich vs The Sarian at Island Cricket Arena (-2)
R2 - The Plough Islands vs Rundel at Park Central Oval (+3)
R3 - Gruenberg vs Fodhla at National Centre of Excellence Oval (+3)
R4 - Liventia vs Elejamie at Folenisa Cricket Ground (+1)
R5 - Pratapgadh vs Ethane at Dawston Ground (+1)
R6 - West Phoenicia vs Sylestone at The Bastion, Dover Cricket Ground (-2)
R7 - Damukuni vs Baggieland at Racecourse Ground (0)
R8 - Ko-oren vs Darmen at Lewes Park (0)

Ethane is going to be a tough opponent to beat, however, our experts believe Pratapgadh has the edge. Even with the ongoing battle between Sanjay Gadia and the Pratapgadh Cricket Federation, there is no locker room heat and the team is united as ever. They have also found new confidence after winning Group E. Pratapgadh have also adopted a more professional gameplay under the guidance of Farhang Gondalwala and no longer look at themselves as underdogs. During an interview with veteran spinner Pradip Khatmode, he said "Back in 2019, six years ago, we knew how to play cricket. Well, that's what we thought till we got onto the international stage. Cricket has been played here for years, but we didn't play like professionals. So we were exposed to Sajnur in our first ever test series. I was part of that team and was considered somewhat professional, but we still found it tough to adapt. Now, I can say we have come a long way from amateurish to professional. Our spirit is still the same from six years ago, but we have found new strength in a more professional and dominant gameplay. This also helped us come out of the mindset that we are underdogs. I say we have reached that top level of cricket, we are full members of the Global Cricket Federation. That says something."

So who will be in the playing eleven against Ethane? Due to the Dawston Ground having shorter boundaries that favour batsmen, captain Gondalwala has decided to go ahead with Rajendra Rathore, Divaj Dharel, Bholanath Dhanuka, Sanjay Gadia and Javed Kazmi who have proved to be good hitters in this tournament. Bholanath Dhanuka has been finding form, with his highest score in the tournament being 43 runs off 35 balls against Dryicor. Though he failed to perform against Arjunnagar and Elejamie, Gondalwala still has faith in him. Javed Kazmi hasn't done much with the bat, but he definitely has the capability to put on some hard-hitting performances. Dharel, Rathore and Gadia have all shown that they are probably some of the best hard hitters we have in this team. Hopefully, the short boundaries help out these batsmen a bit and get some runs on the board. In terms of bowling, Gondalwala has decided to go with Bhuvan Shahane, Anand Chauhan, Neel Karamchand, Abdaal Rahman and Kartik Kakadia. He decided to drop all-rounder Rajat Rajawat, meaning that Shahane would bat at five wickets down. This move puts the batting order at risk of a collapse, but it's a risk Gondalwala will take. These bowlers have been somewhat economical throughout the group stage, Neel Karamchand especially has proven to be a key player to get wickets and keeping the runs down. He might have had a slip up in the match against Elejamie, Gondalwala still believes Karamchand has what it takes to face Ethane. Pratapgadh now has four pace bowlers and only one spinner in the playing eleven and they will be trying to be as economical as possible.

Tune on to Chiraag Firesports Channel 1, Chiraag Firesports Channel 2 and Chiraag Firesports Premium to watch the match between Pratapgadh and Ethane in the round of sixteen. The winner will go to face either Liventia or Elejamie. A tough road ahead for all teams, but who is resilient enough to prevail and win the trophy. We will know as things just heat up even more. Farhang Gondalwala had revealed his desire to win the trophy for Pratapgadh before the GCF World Twenty20 Championship XIV. Farhang Gondalwala had talked to the press recently and said that his men are ready to face any opponent. Will Gondalwala and his men in red and gold lead us to our first major GCF trophy? We will see how long that question lasts. For now, rally around Pratapgadh.
Elejamie Won The Toss And Chose To Bat

Elejamie 180/5 (20 overs)

The Karvian Chronicle

The Sarian in the Round of 16; A re-match against Ko-oren on the cards

Today was a day we didn’t have pur eyes peeled on a Bollonich game, instead we eagerly viewed the play-in games to find out who would be our Round of 16 opponents. We had finished with 10 points out of a total of 12 finishing first in our group. Our performances were encouraging as we had even managed to beat the world number 1 Ko-oren. However to go far in the competition we could not even afford a single slip up. However the rest before the Round of 16 match would be of great help to the players as they would be able to relax and come into the game fresh and energised.
And following a round of play-in games, it was seen that we would face The Sarian in the Round of 16 who made through the play in round by defeating Kriegiersien in what was an extremely close encounter. The Sarian finished fourth in Group B despite them getting 8 points. This shows that The Sarian are not a team to be taken lightly as they have already proven in the play in round. The round of 16 match shall be played at the Island Cricket Arena which has a reputation for being a notoriously low scoring stadium and also provides great help to the bowlers. The Bollonischian bowlers would want to capitalise on the favourable conditions to aid the batsmen. When we look at other matchups in the Round of 16, our eyes would straightaway look at the last match between Ko-oren and Darmen. If both Bollonich and Ko-oren were to win, we would have a Group A top two rematch due to the seeding of the of the Round of 16. This matchup would be a delectable encounter fans of both sides will certainly look forwards to as the Ko-orenites would like to have revenge against up while we would want to get two up the world number one side. Nonetheless, if we are to face to Ko-oren or even advance to the quarterfinals we would need to defeat The Sarian in the Round of 16 which shall be our main goal as of now.
In other games of the play in round we saw Uncertainty get eliminated to Sylestone in what was a comfortable victory while Baggieland pulled the unexpected defeating the Grearish Union. The two teams from Group A who fought in the play in round included Krytenia and Rundel. Krytenia suffered a defeat to Darmen, crashing out of the World T20 Championship while Rundel made it defeating Eastfield Lodge.

The Annasholm Sentinel

Rundel have qualified to the last sixteen, defeating Eastfield Lodge by posting an unassailable target of 176 and then dismissing six of the Lodge side. "Those last few balls are the most nervewracking, when you're in the field," admitted Fipkin Gorig. "There's no shame if the other bloke hits it beyond yours or anybody's reach for six, but when you're defending a twenty-run lead, you don't want to be the fellow who misplays it and runs about the pitch looking for the ball like a madman while the other team manages to score thirteen runs at one go." But there were no such dramatics, and Rundel held onto their lead.

The next round, however, will see a challenging foe in the Plough Islands, who are an experienced side, particularly in longer cricket formats. Their Twenty20 roster favors younger players (we're guessing Callo Kemdawn has at least a decade on the oldest, but he's not saying), and neutral analysts have described their constellation crest as "real cute, innit."

Fodhla had come out of that last game with a win by the skin of their teeth. Had the match gone on for another over it might well have been enough for Hebitaka to take the victory. Lorcán Ó Grianna produced an excellent final over, conceding five runs off his six balls but most importantly ensuring that the Hebitakan danger man David Aron couldn’t hit anymore boundaries. Lorcán kept them limited to singles and twos for the final over and it got Fodhla over the line. Their batting had been really good, they set a very defendable total of 175 with the captain leading the way. Niall de Búrca put on a batting clinic in the middle with five fours allowing him to hit an unbeaten 56.

“We can’t allow that many boundaries against better opposition, lads.” Fr. Colm was unimpressed with some aspects of the team’s bowling. They hadn’t been far off bowling them out, but they gave up twenty boundaries. That had made the game closer than it needed to be. “They will punish us for that sort of thing. The boundaries are friendly to the batsman here, but we have to be limiting what we give up. We should have been winning that a little more comfortably given how we started bowling. Catching Kim behind got us off to a great start.”

It had as well. One of Tomás Gallagher’s two victims. The delivery to get rid of Kim was devilish, swinging in from the tall left-hand bowler against the left-hand batsman. Kim went to play a shot and ending up with a clear edge through to Ciarán Mannion. The wicketkeeper celebrated loudly after making a simple catch, there was no need for a review on that one. Gallagher bowled well generally, getting his second victim in his final over as he skittled Fathima. The batsman was beaten for pace and the ball sent a wicket out of the ground, a sight every bowler loves to see. There hadn’t been much focus on the Fodhlan quicks in this tournament, with a lot of the attention going towards the spinners. This match gave Gallagher his moment in the limelight.

“Here, Ciarán, you’re curiously quiet for a man who made two catches today.” Lorcán said, nudging Oisín Mag Aonghusa and winking as he looked to get a rise out of the fiery wicketkeeper. “I bet you were waiting to get in to bat so that you could give us all another masterclass!”

“Ah here he goes again.” For once Ciarán didn’t take the bait. “Look, I don’t need to say anything after that. Did you not see me out there? Deadly with the gloves. That’s what a proper wicketkeeper looks like. I’ll do my job and you do yours.”

“Don’t be like that Ciarán.” Éanán Mac Giolla Seanáin saw what Lorcán was trying for and was eager to join in. “We really want you to show us how we should be batting! You’ve been a demon in the nets of late. Those Gruenbergers won’t know what’s hit them when you start smashing it out the park.”

“Is it the Gruenbergers we’re playing? Right enough?” Ciarán asked quizzically. “Well don’t you worry son, if you boys need some help against them lot you know where I am. I’ll just have to get to the crease and save your backsides all once again won’t I?”
