Manager
Colin Donaldson Image
Age: 54
Former Schottia skipper, and assistant boss under Lionel Mah, he is a legendary figure back home. He served his apprenticeship during Schottia’s rise to the top of the World Rankings, and has witnessed success - and the sacrifices required – up close. He’s attack minded, but not gung-ho, and will assess the squad before making a decision. Three years into his tenure, Donaldson has not made good on the promise he made to the VSC to make the Marauders true competitors for titles again, though his success in The Eagle's Cup has given a bit of hope among fans and the decision makers that Donaldson just needed some time to fit the players into his system.

Assistant Manager
Jens Reiniger Image
Age: 48
Reiniger was an intelligent defender in his playing days with Crawford City FC and the idea of stepping away from the game after his playing retirement didn't sit well with him. Reiniger believes in strict discipline but in being fair, while also preferring to play a possession based defensive tactic, that takes advantage of the opposition when they overextend. Much was admired about his single-minded approach to playing the 'right way', but his lack of a Plan B sank him in the rough waters of the Nepharim Premiership. The VSC hopes that attitude and defensive prowess would be better utilized in a national team capacity.

Keeper

1 Sean Smørdal, Starling Image
Age - 32
Sex - M
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 181 lbs
His height, sheer natural athleticism, and profound reflexes have been put to the test both domestically and for the national teams. There are many glimpses of what could be a stand out keeper for the ages but there seems to be a lack of focus to keep that majesty going. Regardless, he has proven to be one of the better keepers in the Marauders recent history and is heads and shoulders above the competition for the number one jersey. If he were to only refine that focus, get more consistent, then the Marauders could lessen their worry about defense and get back to playing the free flowing attacking play that they made famous nearly eighty years ago.

Defenders

4 Iben Fjørtoft, Raynor City United
Age - 32
Sex - F
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 158 lbs
Iben is a quick defender that typically plays on the right side for her the Rockers but can play more centrally if needed to. She is a quiet force that doesn't like to get forward unless she absolutely needs to, preferring to be that agile cover defender that allows the more offensive minded midfielders to get into the attacking area.

6 Eivind Strømmen, Eastal Lunar FC Image
Age - 31
Sex - M
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 191 lbs
Eivind is a strong and steely defender with a bit of a no nonsense approach to the game and is known for some bone crushing tackles that somehow are always deemed to be clean by officials.

2 Matheo Dybvik, Rozelle Image
Age - 28
Sex - M
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 164 lbs
Matheo is a smart centerback who has the versatility to both put in crunching tackles and also play it out of the back, perhaps a touch of his heritage mixed in with his time in Brenecia. Unlike at his club, he will be asked to drift out wide to mark attackers, which is the biggest question mark of his game.

Midfield

8 Nora Kirkhus, Mar Sara FC
Age: 32
Sex - F
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 151 lbs
Nora was one of the first true stars to emerge from the Empire after the elves had all but left for other worlds. A quick and deadly crosser of the ball, she modeled her game a bit after va Drake and it seems only fitting that she is taking his place in the starting eleven after his sudden retirement. Age has yet to catch up to her, though she lacks the same finishing class or threat from a long shot her predecessor does, however she is quite an adequate replacement and more solid when being forced to defend.

7 Yuki Hatsune Image, FC Capri
Age - 32
Sex - M
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 147 lbs
This midfielder was born in the Sunrise Islands but came to Valanora at an early age and has really blossomed over the last five or so seasons to a versatile midfielder, though he prefers to play a little further up the pitch in a more attacking role. He's got an accurate shot from long range and can mix it up with most other players in the middle in those fifty-fifty balls, though he would prefer to leave that part of the game to the defenders and more defensive minded midfielders.

10 Laborious Hawk, Bastion Image
Age - 745
Sex -M
Height: 6'5"
Weight: 213 lbs
Words do not even begin to define his talent, his talent defines words. He was awarded one of the spots that the Vanorians have in the World Cup Hall of Fame, with it being very well deserved, as he has and continues to earn everything he has been given every single day. Hawk simply strives to be the very best footballer, captain, and teammate that there can be, with the hunger for perfection driving him forth on and off the pitch.

5 Jakob Larsen, Unioneers Image
Age - 28
Sex - M
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 174 lbs
A tall and lanky fellow, but don't let the lithe frame fool you, he is a destroyer through and through and will not think twice about putting in a crunching challenge on you in a fifty-fifty situation. Perhaps due to playing over in Eura, Larsen is a bit more of a physical player than most Vanorians but has that touch of technical class that one has come to expect from a Vanorian midfielder.

3 Simon Kvaal, Pikemouth Image
Age - 29
Sex - M
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 158 lbs
Truly a masterful maestro out wide, with both the dynamic passing and crossing ability that makes managers salivate and desire his services for their own club. With the departure of most of the elves, now bar Hawk, Kvaal finally has been given his chance to show that he is up to the Vanorian standard and can proudly be adorned in that five star crested kit that he grew up idolizing.

Strikers

9 Harlem Saxstrom Image, Mar Sara FC
Age - 27
Sex - F
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 154 lbs
This is something of a coup, with Saxstrom being fast tracked by the government to get their dual nationality sorted following the collapsing events in Apox and then filing the nationality switch with the WCC. Saxstrom was a part of Apox' squad during last qualifiers but was somewhat on the periphery, however the talent was there and has shown in their first two seasons with the Flames with Saxstrom banging in the goals. At a good pace and a powerful shot, she looks to hopefully be the missing jewel in the crown of the Marauders' attack and could be the key to unlocking those squads that like to play ten behind the ball against the side.

11 Thor Møller, OAS Royal FC Image
Age - 28
Sex - M
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 157 lbs
Few wondered if this day would come, but it has come at last as Thor makes good on the promise that so many saw from him as teenager and is into the full national team and among the starting eleven. Stronger than what he appears and reasonably quick enough to get past more bulky defenders, his shot is arguably his best asset with it seemingly a thunderstruck ball with laser guided accuracy, if you believed the fans. Decent enough at the build up play if needed but he does prefer to run at the defense rather than playing with his back to the net.

Subs

23 GK Samuel Nygård, age 32, Soldarian FC
15 L/CB Hans Vold, age 29, Rolalas FC

Manager: Meriadoc Griffiths Image, age 48
Assistant: Anna Kováts, age 46 (F)

Home Stadium: Stade de Torgos (90,000)

Goalkeepers
GK: Sasa Szatmáry, age 32, Club Stein-los (F)
GK: Lisístrato Ramírez Alvardo, age 31, Cornellians Image
GK: Szescõ Mezei, age 24, Hellinic Rouge
GK: Ambrus Galambos, age 29, Stein-los Turkish
GK: Guglielmo Lo Duca, age 29, Stoneshore United Image

Galambos has solidified his hold on the number one shirt after a very good display in the Eagles Cup, picking up the position with Gerber's international retirement as many had predicted. What was not predicted was Alvardo would come into the pool and become second favorite, however some stellar seasons in Schottia has seen the lad usurp Szatmáry as the second choice. That being said, that trio are clear and away the favored three, having had good runs of form for their domestic teams, though Mezei is edging ever the closer to grabbing a spot with his continued rise in prominence with Hellinic Rouge. While far from being world beaters, the Wanderers are a bit spoiled for choice in the keeper position at the moment and will hope that the good showings in the Eagles Cup and for their club teams will continue on for the national team regardless of who is any matches given starter.

Defenders
LB: Rozalia Sebeôk, age 27, Duke of the North (F)
LB/LW: Deli Ács, age, 26, Directus Image
LB: Carlo Iadanza, age 28, Galatica
CB: Lazar Meier, age 27, Directus Image
CB: Renata Novaković, age 28, Baskita FC (F)
CB: Laborc Szöllössy, age 26, Spartangrad Image
CB: Borsala Máté, age 28, Hellinic Rouge (F)
CB: Torsten Mueller, age 30, Stein-los Turkish
CB: Asztrik Szalay, age 26, Handon United Image
R/CB: Tabor Csikós, age 26, Spartangrad Image
RB: Igor Topić, age 28, Ramusok United Image
RB: Mojmira Jović, age 25, Tanrısal (F)

The heart of the defense has been ripped out of the core, with both Bader and Berg being dropped from the national team, despite being considered by most still capable of putting in national team level performances. In comes a pair of centerbacks who had stellar domestic seasons and are known for being a bit more comfortable at playing with the ball in their feet in the form of domestic based Máté of SuperLiga Champions Hellinic, while Asztrik Sazalay of Handon United in Schottia comes in. Both are expected to be rotation starters rather than thrown straight into the starting eleven but the manager has definitely shown that not a player is safe regardless of their reputation or past deeds for the team. The fullbacks work well in the new philosophy, with a great deal of technical savvy as well as the blistering pace that Griffiths is known for coveting.

Midfielders

RW: Davorka Čerkez, age 30, Hellinic Rouge (F)
RW: Jan Gersten, age 29, Bastion Image
RW: Ildiko Kálmán, age 23, Lujano Image (F)
AMC: Mária Vöröss, age 26, Royal Canterlot HC Image
A/MC: Márió Szölösi, age 23, Ulsa Image
D/MC: Szalyk Földessy, age 26, Crawford City FC Image
D/MC: Zita Szöcs, age 27, Mar Sara FC Image (F)
A/MC: Ors Rátz, age 28, Phraen Palace Image
MC: Kerecsen Benke, age 31, CA Paulinthal
LW: Magdalena Debeljak, age 29, Hellinic Rouge (F)
LW: Pellegrin Csapó, age 23, Marque Image
LW: Etilka Szöllössy, age 27, Manechester City HC Image (F)

The midfield as a whole is a giant question mark for the Wanderers, as there has been quite a bit of upheaval in its personnel over the last four years and there is no stand out world class player orchestrating it as was the case before. If there is that player, it might be Jan Gersten who has quietly gone about his business and been one of the most consistent performers for both club and country for a few years now. There is plenty of promise in this midfield, yet we have yet to see that promise be delivered upon by any except for Gersten for more than a game or two at a time. Mária Vöröss can be a dynamic playmaker on her day but she is lacking that consistency, same with Ors Rátz, while Márió Szölösi is looking to get more starting time at his club before he can really lay claim to a NT starting spot. The left wing is the weakest point in all this, as none of the players there have been tested truthfully on the international stage, though Debeljak will get the starting nod after playing a role in Hellinic's run to the title last season.

Strikers

AMC/ST: Alexander Jager, age 30, Revolutionaries Image
ST: Petar Galić, age 30, Hellinic Rouge
ST: Adrián Makai, age 28, North Hall Image
ST: Réka Szôllôssi, age 28, Stein-los Turkish (F)
ST: Nataša Horvat, age 28, Olympia FC Image (F)
ST: Júlia Müller, age 27, Rozelle Image (F)

Jager is looking for vindication, looking to cast away all of the doubt and shade that had put his way for the last decade, since he took the Young Wanderers' to DBC success. The haunting whispers of him never being good enough or the right person to lead the Wanderers' attack. Even after winning the Cup of Harmony, they still persist, of being a wasted potential. Júlia Müller is exactly the mold of player that the new manager likes, the pacy technical types and has usurped the penalty taking duties. Petar Galić is a great powerful striker, but he lacks a little bit of pace and agility that the new manager likes and lacks the flair of Jager, so is left to be an impact sub or rotational starter. Makai, Szôllôssi, Horvat are solid, quick options to pull off the bench, though Horvat has the better pedigree of goalscoring to her name.

Formation And Tactics
Image

The new Brenecian manager has come with a positive attitude and look to refine the tactics being used rather than trying to reinventing the wheel. Known for having a preference for pacy players who have a good amount of technical skill, the team will likely be looking to use the creative players in the middle to try and dominate and wear down their opponents. One can fully expect the team to try and win the war of attrition with their pace, stamina, and skill, keeping possession when they can and looking to fly on the counter when their defense gets hemmed in.

Corner Taker: Jan Gersten

Starting Lineup, Formation, and Tactics:

Image

The Valladar national football team is known for having its traditional 3-2-2-3 (or 3-4-3 for general reference) formation, which can turn into either a very aggressive yet non-conventional 3-2-5 for attacking or a 5-4-1 (a 3-6-1, even) when the team feel the need to enter into a defensive mode. La Nacional will always be looking to attack and retain ball possession for as long as possible, trying to score many goals in the shortest possible time and mounting an insurmountable lead for the second half of the match when players from both teams start showing signs of fatigue. This squad mostly relies on the speed of both Ronald Mickel and Arley Barrios on the wings both in attack and in defense modes, with Leonardo Rojas and Christian O'Brien playing the role of defensive midfielders that was well covered by Jonathan Bosetti and Pedro Pedretti in the past: both should be able to retreat to the defensive line with ease whenever the team lose ball possession in order to form a line of 5 defenders, thus giving rival forwards a very hard time when trying to break through the Valladar defense. Wilfried Baume, Alexandre, and Aymeric Fortin will be playing together up front, and the trio are well prepared under the premises of the typical Valladar forward: very speedy and talented, with the ability to seemingly harmless crosses into goals, create chances and score goals out of nothing, and kill defenses with speed and lethal counterattacks.

HOME STADIUM

Capacity: 80,000 - Tentai City, Tentai - Tenants: Tentai Astros, Tentai Jiangshi (Gridiron) and Tentai Celestials (Gridiron)

One of the most beautiful venues of Hinodejin football, now larger to properly host teams such as the two gridiron outfits of the Hinodejin capital, the Tentai National Stadium has been one of the main reasons for the rise of Tentai Astros with fans hoping that their relative success rubs off on both gridiron teams. It also hosts the national team since their return to the international fold. Not quite as esoteric as the Hinodejin national basketball team's venue (the Temple) but still makes for quite a fun trip.

MASCOT
Image
A new introduction to the national team, the Hinodejin first-ever national team mascot is going to be debuted in this very qualifying cycle. Named Misako, she's an avenging ghost that represents everything that the Imperial Hinodejin Football Association believes that the national team represents: a scary sight, a tendency to frighten opponents and with full desire to take back what's of the Hinodejin right (the World Cup). We also gave her a Naginata because we're still unsure whether someone else will try to do another little stunt like the Dreamplanetian one the other year.

RP PERMISSIONS
As you might've noticed, this team isn't entirely human. Just wanted to point out they're still fairly close to being human, just in case and a brief search will give you a good idea of what they look like, plus you can ask me about them if you want. Please don't kill the players. Injuries for large stretches of time have to be informed by telegram, or else they'll get the ignore canon treatment. Anything else (bar anything that destroys any city of the empire or its' people, just in case anyone gets a bit too creative) is fine by me.

Formation:
4 – 5 – 1.

Style:
+2.

Manager:
Fred Buckingham
Won the domestic league title three seasons in a row before being appointed to the national team.

Goalkeepers:
1. Ben Osborne (GK).
First choice keeper. Has a commanding presence in the box, very little gets past him.
13. John Foster (GK).
Excellent back-up keeper, has a reputation as a penalty-saver.
23. Tom Hoult (GK).
Dependable and reliable 3rd choice keeper.

Defenders:
2. Jonas McAuley (LCB).
A giant of a man at 6’ 6”, has good ball control too, plays for the same club side as Moore.
3. John Moore (RCB).
Has a great understanding with McAuley, together they clear away anything sent their way.
12. Gareth Olsson (LCB).
Dependable defender, can play anywhere along the back-four.
14. Darren Wile (RCB).
A man-mountain who weighs in at 15 stones, underestimate his agility at your peril.
4. Derek Pennington (LB).
Solid on the left side of defence, often gets forward to support attacks as well.
15. Jesse Statham (LB).
Almost identical to Pennington, although crossing is not of the same quality.
5. Brendon Dawson (RB).
A reliable defender, but is best known for getting forward, sometimes thinks he is more of a RWF than a RB! The DM and RCB always cover his position when he goes on a foray forward. Scores a few goals as well.
16. Craig Batson (RB).
A decent defender, but doesn’t like to get forward too much.

Midfielders:
6. Len Livermore (DM).
Very little gets past him as he patrols in front of the back-four. Likes to get forward too and has a decent long-shot on him.
17. Jake Cantello (DM).
Similar to Livermore, but doesn’t get forward as much.
7. “Bomber” Robson (C) (CM).
Captain fantastic. One of the best midfield playmakers in the world. A regular goal-scorer. It is said he is a Brazilian trapped inside a Baggielandian body.
18. Bryan Brown (CM).
Solid in the middle of the park, shows great vision in setting up attacks.
8. Ray Brunt (VC) (LW).
A left foot wizard, pinpoint crosses, first choice free-kick and corner taker, has the most assists in the domestic league.
19. Chris Barlow (LW).
Would walk into the first team of many other nations, unfortunately for him, has Ray Brunt ahead of him.
9. Laurie Bassett (RW).
Could have represented Baggieland as an Olympic sprinter, accurate crosser of the ball. Gets his fair share of goals too.
20. Billy Cunningham (RW).
Not as quick as Bassett, but has better ball control.
10. Ronnie Regis(AM).
Versatile attacker, can play anywhere in the final third of the pitch.
21. Cyrille Allen (AM).
Similar to Regis, but scores fewer goals.

Forwards:
11. Jeff Richardson (CF).
First choice striker, deadly with either foot as well as his head.
22. “Ginger” Astle (CF).
Lethal with his right foot, great at holding the ball up to bring others into attack.

International tournament records:
Baptism of Fire 72: Group stage.

International goals:
Jeff Richardson: 4.
Ray Brunt: 2.
Ronnie Regis: 1.
Jonas McAuley: 1.
Chris Barlow: 1.

First ever game:

HAMPTON ISLAND GOLDEN BEARS
National Soccer Team

Soccer is not a popular sport in Hampton Island. It ranks somewhere down the list after baseball, motorsports, football (the one with an egg shaped ball), basketball, volleyball, lacrosse, and maybe even golf. Fine, it is ahead of golf. Hampton Island does not have a national professional soccer league. There are areas where smaller regional leagues take place, but nothing organized on a national level.

After the last World Cup and then the Campionato Esportiva, it was determined that soccer fans in the country are mostly older and not younger. Therefore, the nation has adapted to its market base, and are giving them a group of players that they may have watched when they were younger. Hannah Sanders is brought back because the team felt that it would make them feel young.

About Terre Septentrionale:

Terre Septentrionale consists of 20 Townships (Cantons) and a federal district. Terre Septentrionale is located on an island in the northern part of the globe and the climate is similar to a ReallifeStates nation called "Iceland". In summer, the weather ranges from 0°Celsius (32° Fahrenheit) to 20° Celsius (68° Fahrenheit). Terre Septentrionale was discovered during the 16th century by French explorer Jacques-Cartier and was colonized in the 17th century by French, English, Polish, Croat, Slovene, Magyar, Spanish and Czech peoples. After some fights, the eastern part of Terre Septentrionle was a French colony and the western part, a Polish colony. The eastern part got it's independence from France in 1792 while the western part became independent from Poland in 1907. East and West Terre Septentrionale united in 1957 and it's now a single nation on the island.

Terre Septentrionale, once a catholic nation, is now one of the most secular nation in the multiverse. The "loi pour la laïcité" (secularism bill) was passed in the '90s and since then religious signs are illegal in the nation. In Terre Septentrionale it's illegal to wear a veil, an hijab, a burka and however they call it. It's also illegal to display any religious sign, such as catholic crosses, in public and religion is now looked with disdain.

To reach Terre Septentrionale, you have to take an international flight and land at one of the three international airports. All gas vehicles (except planes) are banned in Terre Septentrionale. For inter cities transportation, the best way to travel is by electric bus because the train system isn't developped. Our inter cities buses, made by InnovaBus, are luxurious with lots of spaces between seats. You can also rent an electric car with Hétu Car Rentals. Most common rented cars are the Chèvrefils Volt and the Niedzwiecki Leaf. If you prefer luxury cars, you can rent a Mercedes-Belzile EQ car. For intra cities transportation, we suggest taking the bus. Intra cities buses aren't as much luxurious as inter cities buses but they're still comfortable. Buses are passing every 30 minutes in non rush hour and every 10 or 15 minutes in rush hour. Ville Jacques-Cartier is the only city with a subway system with 5 metro lines.

We have many hotel chains in Terre Septentrionale. Claremount hotels, like Claremount Château Frontenac in Ville Jacques-Cartier, are 5 stars hotels. There's a Claremount hotel in Ville-Jacques-Cartier, Trzebiegoszcz, Yamaska and Papineauville. The two largest hotel chains are the Skrzypczak Hotel Group and Massicotte International. Both have an hotel in every major cities in Terre Septentrionale and they're all 4 stars hotels, except the Massicotte Château Champlain in Ville Jacques-Cartier, which is a 5 stars hotel.

If fans from your nation made it to Terre Septentrionale, but they didn't got tickets for the game, they still can watch the game at our many pubs and sports bars. Ostrzeszow Pizza Restaurant and Sports Bar has 59 restaurants and sports bars around Terre Septentrionale.

All inhabitants of Terre Septentrionale are fluent in two languages, more often French and Polish. Some others are fluent in French and English or in Polish and Croat. Some other inhabitants are fluent in three languages, more often French, Polish and English. Other languages spoken in Terre Septentrionale are Croat, Magyar, Slovene, Spanish and some native american languages.

The Hapilopper National Football Team
Image

Full nation name: The Dominion of Hapilopper
Trigramme: HAP
Nicknames: The Thrashers, The Haps
Team Colors: Blue, Green and White

Info:
The Hapilopper National Football Team started off strong, but unfortunate fits of bad luck, combined with internal struggles within the team and the Hapilopper Football Association, have clouded the team's future. When we last saw our friends from the Dominion, questions rose over the future of the team's head coach, Thom Perkins and if Hapilopper would even field a team for this World Cup cycle. The new-look HNFT did field a team for the AOCAF, getting eliminated in the play-in phase of the knockout rounds. The goal for the team, primarily, was to get used to one another, and within a few matches, it seemed like the Haps started to know each other again. The goal for this World Cup, simply put, is to qualify. With a world ranking of 41, this may be their best chance to date.

MANAGER/HEAD COACH: Buddy Martinez
40-year old Buddy Martinez has been promoted to the title of manager of the national team, having served as assistant manager under Thom Perkins. With Perkins departing after the last Cup of Harmony, Martinez was promoted, and almost instantly, changes were made. The team still relies on an attacking form of football, but has shifted to a 4-4-2 formation.

Martinez's staff includes:
ASSISTANT MANAGER: Carlos Wallace
ASSISTANT COACH: Charles Waters
GOALKEEPING COACH: Duke Wright
TRAINER: Marc James
TECHNICAL DIRECTOR: Jim McNeil
PHYSIO: Russ Oliver

The Fans:
Typically, Hapiloppian fans, including the members of the "Traveling Thrashers" supporters group are among the wildest fans in sport, and promise to be exactly that for the World Cup. Expect to see fans dancing along to 1970s funk music, slamming drums as loudly as possible, waving their flags, and throwing streamers for every Hapiloppian goal. Hapiloppians like to have fun and they'll find ways to get under the opposing team's skin, within reason, of course. They travel well, they make the most of it, and they'll make your World Cup a memorable one, in a good way. Before every match and every goal, look for the Hapiloppian fans to slam their drums and blow their horns to the tune of a song very similar to a popular 1979 hit song, "Rise".

Stadium:
Capital Stadium, Hapilopper City, Hapilopper
Built: 1970 | Seating Capacity: 66,025 | Open-Air | Artificial Turf
Image
(Pictured: Capital Stadium in baseball configuration)
Capital Stadium, Hapilopper's de facto national stadium, is the last of Hapilopper's classic cookie-cutter venues, used for a variety of applications, including the Hapilopper City Nationals baseball team, the Hapilopper National Baseball Team and is the home of the Hapilopper National Football Team. As is custom with cookie-cutter stadiums, the park is completely symmetrical and is surrounded by multiple decks of stands, typically filled with screaming fans when the home team is doing well. Back in the 1970s, the HC Nationals, and their vaunted "National Machine" dominated Hapiloppian baseball, and brought over four million fans through the turnstiles on six occasions. Hapiloppian fans have vowed to come to Capital Stadium in force for HNFT games.

Uniforms:
ImageImageImage
From left: The team's primary kit, the secondary kit and the goalkeeper's kit.

These uniforms, as seen here, are the HNFT's designated regular season kits. Should Hapilopper, by some miracle, make the knockout stage of the World Cup, the team will unveil a gaudier, livelier uniform for its team to wear. These uniforms, the "playoff specials," are a Hapiloppian sports tradition, and a tradition held very dear since the early 1970s when the West Hampton Royals introduced the "playoff special" to the Hapiloppian sports culture.

TYPICAL STARTING PLAYERS:

(NOTE: All teams mentioned are as of the end of Transfer Window 26. Since I am sitting out this transfer window, let me know if there has been any changes.)
Image
#1 | Rod Hughes | Goalkeeper | Sterling City United (Darmen)
For the second straight cycle, Rod Hughes has been given the number one jersey, emblematic of the starting goalkeeper for the Hapilopper National Football Team. Hughes gained the spot following Cooter Harris's meltdown at last year's AOCAF, where he went ballistic following a very bad game for the Haps against Equestria, one of the top teams in all the multiverse. Hughes's performance in the 84th World Cup qualifications were good enough for HFA brass to give Rod a vote of confidence for this World Cup cycle.

Image
#2 | Kendrick Ayers | Defenseman/Right Fullback | Capital City United
21-year old Kendrick Ayers burst on the scene following that magical run in the Di Bradini Cup, and has become an important piece of the defensive efforts of both the HNFT and Capital City United, one of several teams that plays in Hapilopper City in the Hapilopper Football Association. Ayers is known for stopping offensive efforts with impunity. Away from the pitch, Kendrick enjoys watching professional wrestling and participates in parkour, much to the chagrin of HFA head brass.

Image
#3 | Colin McLain | Defenseman/Left Fullback | Hapilopper City Highway Patrol
Prior to joining the Hapilopper National Football Team, Colin McLain was known for one thing: A feud with Ernie Stevenson, who at the time played for Soldiers. The two were involved in a number of high-profile incidents over the years, but that petered out when the Haps ran roughshod over the rest of the field in the 70th Baptism of Fire and when Ernie was signed by Leichhardt in Nephara. Nevertheless, Colin is still one of the more physical players in Hapilopper, and will not object to tackling players with impunity. He's been overshadowed by Nate Ellis's insane antics, but that doesn't mean Colin won't do something ridiculous himself.

Image
#4 | Carl Peterson | Defenseman/Centerback | Surrey Perimeter College
One of the real revelations from recent training sessions was Carl Peterson, a 19-year old Political Science major at Surrey Perimeter College. A teammate of Fernie Fairburn at SPC, Carl tagged along and surprised the HFA brass with some incredible performances in the training sessions, to the point that he has been given a starting position on the HNFT for this World Cup cycle. How he does with the opportunity remains to be seen.

Image
#5 | Nathan Ellis | Defenseman/Centerback | Southfell United (Nephara)
Ahh, Nate Ellis. Named "Most likely to start a riot in another nation" by FootySport, a Hapiloppian soccer magazine, Ellis is one of the most violent players in all of international football, and is known as much for suplexing opposing players as he is keeping them away from goal. During the last World Cup qualifier, Ellis clotheslined Alexis Fotellis and became the most hated man in all of Vdara. Other players will be smart to be wary of Ellis.

Image
#6 | Fernie Fairburn | Defensive Midfielder | Surrey Perimeter College
The HNFT's resident party animal, Fernie Fairburn rejoins the team for a second World Cup cycle. Fernie has become an important cog in the Hapiloppian midfield, either in an effort to stop an offensive effort or to get one started for the Haps. Back at Surrey Perimeter, Fairburn is well-known for his parties, including one just weeks before the AOCAF which saw a passerby get beaned by a mannequin wearing a Nate Ellis Southfell United jersey, having been defenestrated from Fairburn's dorm window at Kensley Hall. Ellis was not pleased.

Image
#7 | Auggie Burton | Defensive/Central Midfielder | Capital FC (Xanneria)
August "Auggie" Burton, last year, was one of the members of the Junior Haps that joined the HNFT following some incredible performances in that Di Bradini Cup that the Haps nearly won. Auggie got a starting position off that performance, a position he got to keep based off his performance in the qualifying phase of World Cup 84. Still considered one of the top rising young stars in Hapiloppian sport, a player expected to be among Hapilopper's elite for years to come, even as he plays in Xanneria.

Image
#8 | Murray Hunnisett | Attacking Midfielder | Istria City FC (Banija)
Murray Hunnisett, the younger brother of baseball star Leroy, became known a year ago for being one of the "Hapilopper Ten" that got picked up by an international team. Both the Hunnisett brothers now call Banija, a fellow Glorious Southwest nation, home these days. He still remains one of the key pieces of the HNFT and a crucial piece of the national team's midfield. With formation changes, Murray is expected to fire shots to Claire Randall on the left side in most situations.

Image
#9 | Bobby East | Attacking Midfielder | FC Kaiserhaven (Siovanija and Teusland)
Beautiful Bobby East, the quiet attacking midfielder for FC Kaiserhaven, is seeing his role change on the HNFT this year with a changed formation. In years past, Beautiful Bobby was the last step of the equation before firing it off to Ernie Stevenson for the inevitable goal. He'll still do so but on the right side of the pitch in most situations. Bobby is known as one of the nicest people in Hapiloppian sport, and teammates have told tales of him paying for everybody's dinner, even when not asked to.

Image
#10 | Claire Randall | Forward | Clayton City Ladies FC (Baker Park)
One of the rising stars of Hapiloppian football, Claire Randall is the first and, so far only, woman to play on the Hapilopper National Football Team. She's had a rough go of it at Clayton City in Baker Park, but she's improving by the day. With the change in formations from the 4-2-3-1 to the 4-4-2, Claire has received a starting number and will serve as one of the leading two strikers on the national team. Her demeanor has shifted somewhat since her debut, possibly owing to her relationship with Chris Holmes, the resident klutz of the NSSCRA stock car racing series. His clumsiness has reportedly rubbed off on her.

Image
#11 | Ernie Stevenson | Forward | Leichhardt (Nephara)
Ernie Stevenson is perhaps the most well-known of all the Hapiloppian footballers owing largely to his flashy, charismatic style of attacking football. He's pulled off quite a lot of entertaining maneuvers as he worked to score goals for the HNFT or for Leichhardt, the Nepharim side that has jumped to the top rung of one of the top football leagues in the multiverse off the play of this Hapiloppian dynamo. Younger brother of Drake Stevenson.

TYPICAL BENCH PLAYERS:

Image
#12 | Patrick Morris | Forward | Pinkerton City SC
Pat Morris, one of Pinkerton’s top strikers, scored 21 goals last year, but remains #3 on the striker’s depth chart, getting leapfrogged by Claire Randall. Morris is a threat from primarily the right side of the pitch, and defenders would be very smart to trap him on the left side, as his usefulness typically goes downhill very quickly on that side of the pitch.

Image
#14 | John Cornett | Forward | Gladerial United (Valanora)
John Cornett, Garvinson’s foul-mouthed striker, is one of Hapilopper's ten players that got transferred out to international football teams. Formerly the leader of Garvinson's "Midnight Express" Trio, Cornett is known for his vile temper and his poor behavior, such as that time he threatened to attack a referee with a beer bottle. Rumors persist of some kind of incident involving him and Steve Swindlehurst during a training session not too long ago.

Image
#16 | Stan Long | Midfielder | United Marietta (Xanneria)
In a past life, Stan Long was one-third of Garvinson's "Midnight Express" trio, along with Bobby East and John Cornett, that helped propel Garvinson to the top of the HFA table, before getting sold off in a fire sale post-season. These days, he plays for Xannerian side United Marietta. Reportedly has a black belt in karate.

Image
#18 | Steve Swindlehurst | Midfielder | Raceway Football Club
Steve Swindlehurst, who can be placed anywhere ahead of the midpoint of the field, is a strong midfielder for Raceway Football Club in Buckridge. Swindlehurst is known for one of the luckiest goals in HFA history, scoring from 55 yards out when no one was paying attention in a match two years ago. Reportedly has some kind of enmity with John Cornett over an unspecified incident that for one reason or another, nobody's going into details about.

Image
#21 | Steve Erickson | Midfielder | 1830 Cathair (Audioslavia)
With the change in formations, Steve Erickson, the playmaking midfielder and striker for Audioslavian side 1830 Cathair, got the shaft from the HNFT and was relegated to a bench role. Erickson wasn't too happy about it, but some suggested that Erickson's tendency to "simulate" injuries - or, in other words, flop like a jackass, something that HFA officials have vowed to stamp out - cost him his starting position.

Image
#24 | Paul Dibble | Defenseman | Juavi FC (Valanora)
Paul Dibble is a fantastic defensive player. He'll make sure you know that. Unfortunately, his all-out style of play, which has put him in card trouble in the past, and injury trouble as well - has started to take its toll, and in an effort to preserve their defenseman so he can continue to play for club and country, Dibble has been relegated to a bench role. Dibble plays bass guitar for a band, "The Yellow Cards" in his spare time with several other defensemen.

Image
#25 | Todd Brantley | Midfielder | West Hampton Sports Club
27-year old Todd Brantley, a key piece of the West Hampton Sports Club's midfield, was a late addition to the squad following an injury to Brandon Herbert during a training session. Brantley is also a goal-scoring threat and scored nine goals last year for WHSC. An avid car collector, Brantley's collection includes a 1942 Preston Phaeton convertible, one of five ever built, and an unusual 1985 Preston Skychief shooting brake.

Image
#26 | Clive Blackburn | Defenseman | Hapilopper City Soldiers
Clive Blackburn, a right fullback for The Soldiers, is a strong defenseman and will likely be named as a constant bench player, eligible to be subbed on. Blackburn, 30, is one of the more efficient defensive players in Hapiloppian football.

Image
#30 | Colt Delaney | Goalkeeper | West Hampton Sports Club
Colt Delaney is the third-most efficient goaltender in Hapiloppian football, registering one goal allowed per 141 minutes last year. Delaney, however, has been also plagued by injuries and his playing time could be non-existent.

Image
#46 | Pancakes Taggart | Midfielder | Capital City United
Poor Pancakes. Pancakes Taggart, considered by Hapiloppian media to be "the meat and potatoes" of the HNFT during the 83rd World Cup Cycle, was relegated to a bench role for a variety of reasons, including the fact that the HNFT had seen a better player at that position in Fernie Fairburn. Pancakes, however, has vowed to stay on the team to be one of the top substitutes on the national team. Rumored to be a part of a consortium looking to purchase the International House of Flapjacks restaurant chain.

Image
#60 | Cooter Harris | Goalkeeper | Northshore FC (Xanneria)
He's back! The last time we saw Cooter Harris on the HNFT, he was in the midst of a full-fledged nervous breakdown caused by an 8-1 drubbing of the Haps by the Equestrians. Having been axed from the team for a cycle, Cooter has made a comeback of sorts playing for Northshore FC in Xanneria. He's not the starting goalkeeper, but he could find himself back in front of the net before long.

Image
#75 | Eli Tyrrell | Midfielder | Surrey United
One of the scrappiest players in all of Hapiloppian football, Eli Tyrrell saw some limited playing time during the last World Cup cycle on sheer force of will alone. Tyrrell is a roughhousing midfielder and can take the ball away just as well as can run with it. Maybe not the most talented player on the HNFT, but is popular among his teammates and coaches for his scrappiness.

Composed of the mainland, stretching from the dense forests of Southern Galloway to the island archipelago of Kinnland, Havynwilde is a Nordic-styled nation of nearly five million people situated mainly in the northern parts of the nation. A nation with a strong, crazed obsession over football -called fooligbol domestically - Havynwilde is noted for its short-running sports seasons which run from late December through March. Since making its debut on the international scene, arriving in terrible fashion in the fourth CMFA Archipelago Cup, it was followed by perhaps a shock early exit in the Baptism of Fire; continuing Melayu Archipelago’s unfortunate streak of railing to reach the Round of 16 and getting passed it for the regino. Now, the HFF turns their attention to World Cup qualifiers, where not much is expected, but certainly, Shane Newman is expected to usher in some type of performance, granted he’s only won 5 games over his two-year tenure thus far.

The Nordslaget meanwhile sees a rehaul ahead of the World Cup qualifiers, gone, is the 23-man rosters in place for the Baptism of Fire and the Archipelago Cup, instead, Shane Newman’s turned to a pool of over thirty-five players. Some of whom have been capped, some of whom drive freshly uncapped to the national team. Following a decent showing in the CMFA Nations League, some players received valuable play time, as we enter the tail end of the year, but with IFCF play looking for players on domestic clubs, the first few months of WCQs quill be shaky for the national team, without its traditional pieces it had; key players who were part of what got it though the Baptism of FIre group of death are gone, and that’ll definitely be a catalyst to qualifiers to be on the lookout for. How will Havynwilde respond, can Shane Newman muster a qualifying campaign and bring glory to Havynwilde? Of course, qualifying is not on anyone’s mind right now, nor even is the Cup of Harmony, but, if Havynwilde can avoid finishing bottom of the group, it’ll have been a good showing for Shane Newman.

Quick Facts
  • Nation Name: Dominion of Havynwilde
  • Trigamme: HVY
  • Population: 4,629,301 million
  • Language: Havyish
  • GDP: ҡr89,201 per capita (N$64,027 per capita)
  • Nickname: Nordslaget (The Northerners)

Team Info
Basic info:
  • Preferred formation: 3-1-6
  • Style mod: +5
  • Home stadium: Nordstadion - cap. 41,402 (30,000 all-seater) - Formerly called Bellymn Stadium, Nordstadion is one of the oldest stadiums in Havynwilde, built in the capital to host the Kopahaven’s precursor, the Kogenkopa.
  • Manager: Shane Newman (CBP)
  • Coaches: -
Players to watch:
  • Ashton Houston :: She’s the point of contact when it comes to scoring goals, and was instrumental during the Baptism of Fire for starting rallies for Havynwilde. Plying her talent in the Kelssek league, she’s an intriguing player, and one of the best for the national team. Easily, she’s a key player to watch for in the attack.
  • Francis Sutherland :: The start of the national team, he hasn’t really hit his groove yet, nor has he found an impact for the national team,, but, Sutherland is the celar star of this national team, and similarly, he’s the most well-known player for Havynwilde, given he gets through IFCF play, he’s going to be a definite fixture for Havynwilde in its play, he’ll play a bigger role in Indepenets Cup play and others.
  • Myles Connelly :: Connelly is out right now with an injury, but, he took the number one shirt from Joel Nolans during the Baptism of Fire, and when healthy, he’s the number one for a reason, he should be back in time for mid-qualifiers, and Havynwilde will suffer without his large frame. A key player, now being forced to adapt to a much-less-defensive formation.
  • Leon Davis :: The rise of Leon Davis during the Baptism of Fire was well-documented, as he trooped through and became a household anime for the Nordslaget, plying his trade in Audioslavia for Bombarralense, he should be available early as Bombarralense has not qualified for international play. One of the best pure strikers in Havynwilde.
Team Record:
WCC-sanctioned: 2-2-3
Non-WCC events: 3-3-5
Overall Record: 5-5-8

Pool

    GOALKEEPERS:
    [01] Myles Connelly :: 29 y.o ., Latrobe AFC (KSK) :: 7 caps - 0 clean sheets [inj]
    [12] Grier Wood :: 26 y.o., Baywall Athletic :: 5 caps - 0 clean sheets
    [23] Blair Young :: 27 y.o., Perce Town (QUE) :: 3 caps, 1 clean sheet
    [34] Markus Thaalow :: 19 y.o., Bellymn United :: 1 cap, 0 clean sheets
    [35] Miles Denalise :: 21 y.o., Tokavalv Splurge :: 2 caps, 2 clean sheets

Certainly, it's not every day you’re presented with a choice from five keepers for your national team, and clearly, Shane Newman’s spent some time trying different things out since the Baptism of FIre. The biggest thing to see, Joel Nolans seems to have departed the national team picture, in his place, Myles Connelly has emerged as the number one keeper for the national team, and similarly, has embraced his role, he has the most experience out of the rest of the assembled, at twenty-nine and plying his trade at Latrobe AFC in Kelssek. He also guided Havynwilde through a brutal group of death during the Baptism of Fire, before getting injured, his departure is certainly one that shocked many, currently injured, he won’t see much plying time till he’s able to come back. However, when playing, he’s a top flight keeper and is certainly worthy of the number one shirt, unfortunately, he won’t be see until at least matchday 12, meaning Shane Newman will be relying on a quartet of keepers to get the job done. By far, the most established out of these is Grier Wood, who is coming off winning LygaHaven with Baywall Athletic, he’s starter domestically, and serves as the primary backup for qualifiers, but he’ll get ample time to prove himself. Blair Young’s made the move to Perce Town in Quebec, and seems to be on an upward trajectory himself, he established himself as an elite keeper in LygaHaven, despite playing for piss-poor Foretham Coven. However, by far the most interesting prospects are the likes of Markus Thaalow and Miles Denalise. Thaalow, keeper for Bellymn United, won Serien-Two as an eighteen year-old, this steam, he’ll look to build off of that and flourish in his position. He’s really emerged as a key talent, and probably will be seen more during the DBC. A top flight nineteen year old is certainly Shane Newman’s dream, and could even be a protege of sorts for Newman to mold into his ideal keeper. Wrapping up the list is Miles Denalise, the third-tier keeper who dazzled for Tokavalv Splurge; you may remember him more for his dazzling cup run he lead Splurge on, while they ultimately failed to win it all, he won the hearts of many and has been sent on loan to Vitel BK in Serien-Two. He has started two games thus far for the national team, both in CMFA Nations League play, and kept two clean sheets for them, with a 3-nil win ver Baranil standing out on his transcript.

    LEFTBACKS:
    [02] Rosario Courtwood :: 25 y.o., Advernians :: 7 caps
    [13] Erika Cook :: 25 y.o., Briarcliff Manor :: 8 caps
    [24] Kyles Harsbeerry :: 30 y.o., Manteltwon Quick :: Int'l debut

Not too many changes here, the usual suspects minus the latter once again reprise their roles, the biggest, Rosario Courtwood is on a short leash, coming off her suspension due to yellow card accumulation, she’ll still miss the first game of World Cup qualifiers at least as she’ll need to sit her second game, similarly, playing international football, she won’t be on the scene for days, likely until matchday twelve.Without her, the defense clearly has suffered, with her steadying, and physical play being a hallmark that defines Havynwilde back line, see Havynwilde v. Tequilo for reference. THis likely means the pairing of Erika Cook and Nordslaget newcomer, Kyles Harsberry are the two features and prominent members who’ll compose of this backline, and Erika Cook is the much more established of the two; but has started mostly less-meaningful games in region play, ehr time with the full international scale for qualifiers has gone over less well with the the international audience. A key member on the Briarcliff back line, she’s not as valued for the national team, and that’s perhaps because she’s been used out of position, something she’s made abundantly clear in how she wishes to fix her play. With BRiarcliff similarly also playing in the CMFA Champions League, though, and IFCF, she’ll be gone for a few dats at least, enter likely unsung hero, Kyles Harsberry, many argue Irene Maxwell was slighted for the role, however, Harsbery enters the picture,a t thirty, unproven, and likely not much of a mainstay for the Nordslaget. However, he's stood the course of time, he was a feature for Manteltown Quick and was a definnf piece on their defense, perhaps the biggest reason he made the team is because he has an aura of normality to his play. His shifts have been productive if unnoticed during his pst few years in the second tier and he’s considered a safer pick amongst a weaker position. Missing out on the spot, Irene Maxwell is probably the most affected by this: she missed out on a key tournament for herself during the Baptism of Fire and is once more slighted, for Shane Newman at least, it’s clear that right now he’s not seeing her as a potential member of the national team, and that’s going to have a huge effect on her, no doubt.

    CENTREBACKS:
    [03] Zenon-Gerol Kal :: 28 y.o., Advernians :: 105 caps for Qusmo NT - 10 caps [c]
    [14] Craig Harris :: 22 y.o., Bombarallense (AUD):: 10 caps
    [25] Zach Park :: 29 y.o., Union Kada (MKB) :: 3 caps

Who are they? The captain themselves, Zenon-Gerol Kal - and Kal seems destined to be written into the record books, the national team’s captain looks to lead the team through World Cup qualifiers despite the fact they won’t be here for some some, following the dard-driven storyline that seems to permeate the team currently, Kal amongst others is gone for the first half and ore of qualifiers, as IFCF and international play cuts into qualifiers play. In their absence, national team start, Craig Harris once more reprises his role as a backline leader, however, Harris sees himself thrust in as the sole center back in the new back three pairing as they accustomed to the new formation changes Newman’s hellbent on trying. The main parts of the backline seem to have come to terms to settling with what they’ve got to work with - Harris has established himself overseas, a main fixture on the backline for the Havyish-heavy Bombarralense, who also have Leon Davis to add to the Havyish people on their rosters. Harris has thrived in Audioslavia, thus earning up a call-up to the Nordlaget ahead of the Archipelago Cup, where he’s made himself known as a starter for the national team since then, offering for the national team, the best bet forward, and serves as a key presence on the backline. If Courtwood was the enforcer and Kal is the maestro, Craig Harris is the sleuth; his ability to whip balls into the box for awaiting headers, direct the flow through the midlines and assist Connelly with discussion is important, especially given Kal’s still learning the language and adjusting to Havynwilde. Finally, rounding up the back three, the arrival of Zach Park once more, he’s been steady and serving as the utility man for the back line, certainly surprising everyone and continuing the notion of “performing for nation if not club”, Union Kada’s been supposedly a bomb for him as the team has been pitiful despite his best efforts for them in the Mkabian league. However, since his callup to the national team, while mainly occupying a spot in the 23-man roster, he’s proven himself an able backup when given time on the pitch, and has been instrumental in some games. Likely, he’ll ride out his career as an extra man on the roster, but, he’ll get some valuable playing time during qualifiers. Zach Park probably finds some game he’ll start in, and stuck in the purgatory that is Mkabia, he’s probably using this as a chance to get out and move out of Mkabia.

    RIGHTBACKS:
    [04] Case Ruderby :: 20 y.o., La Nueva Avenida (FFD) :: 8 caps
    [15] Eli Rennie :: 25 y.o., Briarcliff Manor :: 5 caps
    [26] Issac Miller :: 31 y.o., Foretham Coven :: 3 caps

Case Ruderby seems once again to have reinvigorated himself, positioning himself as the first right back of choice for the national team once again; nothing acts as a major surprise here, he’s miles ahead of the two that are Eli Rennie and Issac Miller. A shock final bid by La Nueva Avenida highlighted a sudden switch from Havynwilde’s clear right back choice, his move set up a turn of events which has Mandon United of Apox ship Ruderby off, now destined for the Farvish league. The style of play Shane Newman looks to implement ahead of the qualifiers might work well enough to his advantage, but it still requires him to play some form of defense. Ruderby’s play during the season last year for Mandon was key for them, helping them climb to sixth place in the league table for the side, who nearly challenged for an international spot. His move to the Farvish league was destined, however, for some it came as a shock. As for the national team, he’s shined on the brightest lights thus far for them, and will now pair with youth in Rosario Courtwood and likely Craig Harris at least for a few games. He’s had time to really improve on his game, and having matured some, he should look to be at his best for qualifiers, and hopefully will look to etch his name in as the starter for the Independents Cup. WCQs is a good hallmark for the transformation of a plate, and emerging as a talent, he’ll likely look to showcase that there’s a reason why he’s continually been the first choice at his spot. Eli Rennie on the other hand has ben the lynchpin in the back during the CMFA Nations League, a competition that calls for a purely-domestic group of players to play, and Rennie’s shine under the bright lights, earning a callup to the pool and surprisingly unseats Union Laguada’s Kayden Duffy, who isn’t anywhere to be found on the possible players list. Perhaps a bigger surprise being Issac Miller receives call ups, and likely is a day one starter till both Ruderby and Rennie are available, it'll be interesting to begin a qualifying campaign with relatively new blood for the national team, who’ll be forced into playing with Miller at the back.

    CENTER DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDS:
    [05] Francis Doyle :: 26 y.o., Avante Leipreachán :: 4 caps
    [16] Ivy Trednale :: 30 y.o., Bellymn United :: 0 caps
    [27] Aries Christie :: 25 y.o., Briarcliff Manor :: 0 caps

Clearly, it wasn’t supposed to be a strong suit from the beginning, but the search for a capable, clear center defensive midfielder is something that continues to puzzle Havynwilde, and given this formation doesn’t lend to the whole idea to pof playing defense, the player who’ve receive callup sill have trouble adjust to this notion of the full press that Shane Newman’s trying to put on this team. First up, Francis Doyle, who plays his game with the Shamrocks, he’s been a mainstay with Avante Leipreachán for five years now, one of the best CDMs in LygaHaven and interestingly, he’s done little to move on from playing in Havynwilde, he doesn’t have much experience outside of Havynwilde, though he has played in some IFCF and FFI games. The biggest problem he’ll face is controlling the tempo, he’s notorious for overcommitting in LygaHaven, and that can be detrimental against a conglomeration of the nations’ best when they go on full display. Expect him to have trouble adjusting to the change-of-pace, however, he's best suited for immediately having an impact in the starting XI, however, similarly, don’t expect him to appear early, likely round 10 or later is his first appearance. Ivy Treadnale is the best and most obvious choice to be added at CDM, playing for Bellymn United, she was key to helping the club gain promotion to the top tier, and Bellymn’s historical rites largely reclaimed, she seems content where she is, signing an extension to stay with the club over the offseason. Mostly the biggest problems she’ll face is adjusting to playing with new players, she’s already adjusted to the guise of an offensive formation - Bellymn ran that for most of her time with them and she’s been important to the development of Bellymn’s own, Rockova Mellymn. FInally, wrapping up the position, the Briarcliff Manor player, Aries Christie, who’s played the role for some time, however, a former left back, has been thrust into adjusting to his new role as a CDM. He’s played well, and demonstrates a huge upside, however, has seen some issues with his transition game, something that prevents him from being a clearcut number one.

    LEFT MIDFIELDERS:
    [06] Cann Baird :: 34 y.o., Megabrantid SC (SRS) :: 8 caps
    [17] Milo Simmons-Bradley :: 27 y.o., Union Forge :: 6 caps
    [28] Irwin Donald :: 24 y.o., Ankeeven (NQU) :: 0 caps

Cann Baird heralds this group of left midfielders, being the key and clearly, the most important one on the left flank. For Havynwilde, Baird’s ability to set and control the pace on the flanks has been key to helping them settle the game - the 2-2 draw with Tequilo being an example of his ability to slow down the pace of the game. His broad strokes in building the attack, slowing down tempots and generally controlling the pace of the game is one of his hallmark abilities, and he’s shined because of it. At Megabrantid, he’s coming off just winning the domestic title, the first Havyish player to win a league title in a foreign league - taking the Superleague by storm, he was a key piece to their run to the title. His time for the national team hasn’t been as sweet, bowing out in the Baptism of FIre at the Round of 32 and failing to win a single game at the Archipelago Cup, however, his play during the time has been up-to-par and he certainly isn’t the reason for any lost games. Clearly, the goal doe Baird is to build and establish himself as the top left attacking midfielder they have, and he definitely seems to have the power to do that. Union Forge has a person who was formerly HAvynwilde’s most exciting prospect years ago, Milo Simmons-Bradley; his career has been shaky since leaving the Wanderers, where he established himself as the key star to their assembled team, but he’s found adapting to the Hammers and their style of play hard. Luckily, he’s done well (enough) with the national team to reprise his role as the backup. He’ll probably find moments to shine against fellow low-ranked opponents and garbage time if Havynwilde needs him. If he didn’t lay in the NOrth Quadanian Bigbank Chamipionschep, he’d probably be challenging for the backup position, but playing for the relatively unknown side of Ankeeven doesn’t earn you any brownie points, even if you're coming off winning a title with Baywall Athletic. And that's the position Irwin Donald is in, play in any other top flight league and he probably is a challenger for the top spot because he’s so dominant in the two leagues he‘s been in, but moving to North Quadana, for the money, was the wrong step.

    CENTER MIDFIELDERS:
    [07] Francis Suthlerand :: 21 y.o., Cazadores Cathair (AUD) :: 8 caps
    [18] Mason Thomaston :: 28 y.o., Athletic Dorfdaving (AFT) :: 1 cap
    [29] Shiloh Barrett :: 32 y.o., Armada Bolds :: 1 cap

Once more Francis Sutherland returns, more important than ever to the foundation in the midfield, and this time, he brings with him crucial experience that’ll be key to giving him any sort of help in patrolling the midfield. His time during the Baptism of Fire was a sleeping giant for most of the tournament, he wasn’t terrible, but the clear star found himself continued against similar opponents, he’ll be looking to make the split and gain an advantage during World Cup qualifiers. Perhaps the most hyped played in the Melayu Archipelago, Sutherland is the most-recognizable of the Starting XI, and thus, the most well known, he needs to lip off to the hype surround him, after all, he did make a big transfer a year ago to Audioslavia. Failure to adjust to international play doesn’t seem to be his hindrance, he’s found himself playing in one of the top leagues in the world in the Audioslav National League. The problem Sutherland has had is being in the right place at the right time, he’s constantly been swarmed with defenders, and that’s paid off well for others: Leon Davis established himself as a superb striker in the Baptism of Fire because of that, but, Sutherland was meant to be the main point of creating Havynwilde’s attack. However, if he continues to transition into the role of forcing the defense into these traps, Havynwilde may come to switch to that, as indicated by Shane Newman pushing Sutherland deeper than the other two midfielders, clearly he wants Sutherland to push the ball more up, opening more spaces for his wingers and strikers to strike. Mason Thomaston though is the one we’ll see first - spending time in the Fleftic league with Athletic Dorfdaving, they won the Fleftic Unang Liga, ten points clear of their closest competitor. However, as she has to wait to get her passport, she’ll be available for selection for the national team for a few games. That’s until she’s called to Abanhfleft, in which Shiloh Barrett steps in, from the Armada Bolds. Barrett made his name whipping strikes into the box for the awaiting strike of the two the Bolds ran with for most of the season in Serien-Three. He’s really the only good center midfielder in the top three divisions available who isn’t injured, so he’ll make the qualifiers team and be outclassed by everyone on the pitch.

    RIGHT MIDFIELDS:
    [08] Hayden Welsh :: 25 y.o., Zenit Attawapiskat (QUE) :: 9 caps
    [19] Mai Coraline :: 22 y.o., Montreal Impact (QUE) :: Int'l debut
    [30] Arthur Smith :: 24 y.o., MIroz Old Boys (AFT) :: Int'l debut

Hayden Welsh is the standout player here, as the major transfer over the offseason, transferring to Quebec's Zenit Attawapiskat in a deal that further depleted the attacking corps of the Shamrocks ahead of another season. On top of that, last season’s very successful spell with the Shamrocks dispelled any notions he might’ve lost his touch, and perhaps, snubbed for the Foooligboler of the Season Award, he looked as if he’d come to play with a vengeance for much of the season. Unfortunately, all that firepower he brought didn’t translate to many goals for Havynwilde, who has struggled to get the machine starter during his tenure with the national team. But, he’s earned a callup to the national team, perhaps serving as the best player it can offer in its ranks. Sure, there are major problems that all need to be addressed, but he's reasonably prove himself as the best selection for the AMR position. A strong spell in Quebec could further that, while their season hasn’t started, there’s a strong sense that Welsh is due for a breakout performance on the international scale. The similarly ranked Quebecois league, which gains more publicity off the nation’s former publicity, certainly would give him a chance to establish his character and vision to the worst outside Havynwilde. In waiting lies Mai Coraline, similarly transferred to the Quebecois league, with the Montreal Impact nonetheless, a transfer to a struggling club may help her rebrand herself after some struggles domestically, however, an adjustment shouldn’t be too hard for her. Finally, rounding it out is the key to it all, Arthur Smith, at Advernians, he was drilled to play a more-defensive position and thus will sit back most matches, he’ll be important for killing time late in the game and will be an offensive liability on the field.

    LEFT WINGS:
    [09] Rockova Mellymn ::21 y.o., Bellymn United :: 5 caps
[20] Gavin Cook :: 24 y.o., Baywall Athletic - on loan to Ballina FC (NWK) :: 5 caps
    [31] Hannah Winters :: 30 y.o., Limestone Greenwich :: Int'l debut

An unstable position shows its further instability by showing a lack of a clear number one at the top amongst the left wingers, at the top of the heap, Rockva Mellymn holds the one spot by simply being in form - she’s actually had a team for the past few months to play for - Gavin Cook on the other hand had to be resigned by Baywall so they could send him on loan to the relatively unknown Kalactin Alliance of Association Football side, Ballina FC. For Cook, its a chance to reinvigorate his career, he was considered a dud in the water for a team who just came off winning the league title, formerly a bright prospect for both the national team and especially for Baywall Athletic, the emergence of Carlton Brower shifted him to wing play and mistakes during key LygaHaven games forced Yivix-Belaj Ivo to bring in the like of Eetu Pianka on a transfer to the club, signaling the near-end of the road for the former Red Pirates main man. A fall frog race like no other, he did receive a call up, but failed to register much, however, he’s still clearly one of Havynwilde’s best, and his prowess for set pieces is a testament to his training and ability, given a chance to shine and flourish again, there’s plenty of reasons to think he can. He can fit well into the attacking ethos Ballina FC has created and given many of their attacking players departed, he’s been charged with shoring up the attack, at least for a seasons. On the other hand, Rockva Mellymn is the best starter, but she has IFCF play to look forward too in the form of the Liga B cup, similarly, Cook too also has those, meaning Hannah Winters is the likely starter for now, given her role as a shadow striker was converted to the competition, it should be interesting to see how she plays, in her first appearance for the national team. Passing over Christina Dunn was an interesting choice by Newman, who used her during qualifiers, but its clear that he thinks these three are the path forward for the national team.

    CENTRE FORWARDS:
    [10] Ashton Houston :: 29 y.o. Hamiltonian Cambria (KSK) :: 10 caps
    [21] Leon Davis ::26 y.o., Bombarralense (AUD) :: 8 caps
    [32] Olly Gibson :: 27 y.o., Forest Park SC (CBP) ::: 2 caps

There was a time when Olly Gibson was the best player Havynwilde had to offer, mostly before international competition, since then, we’ve come to realize Olly Gibson is painfully average, so his continued placement into the national team picture is...worrying. But, not too fair, because he’s likely not going to start the important games - we have two important national treasurers in Leon Davis and Ashton Houston, both who’ve played their best football on the international stage, and have really leapt to make a name for themselves with the national team uniform. Houston, the more established is a key part to Hamiltonian Cambria in Kelssek, for Huston, the journey’s been crazy, she’s really redeveloped her career, making herself into one of the elite strikers Havynwilde has to offer. A dominant presence, she constantly made her presence known during the Baptism of Fire, and seems to jumpstart the Havyish form, which had been slow to start. For her, the biggest thing she had to worry about is spreading the play, her solo strikes are beautiful, but spreading the play is something that would’ve helped to generate more goals - see the Teqilo game and of course the Zeta Reka game where countless opportunities were missed. A new formation however should give her time to blossom. The person who misses out on this most is Leon Davis, it seems Shane Newman’s placed the role of the main striker in the hands of Ashton Houston, pushing Davis down to the second spot - but there’s nothing to fear, Davis and her will probably get equal time playing, the whole thing with the 4-3-1-2 formation seems to have ended, and we saw that during the CMFA Nations League, Newman was experimenting more, albeit it with B and C teams, dealing with the main striker seems to have been an issue he finally has accounted food. But, it’s probably going to be interchangeable, both David and Houston are key parts to this offensive juggernaut Shane Newman’s trying to build, a la Farv.

    RIGHT WINGS:
    [11] iksef Grondt :: 24 y.o., Vitel BK :: 6 caps
    [22] Alex Garza :: 34 y.o., Tkoavalv Splurge :: Int'l debut
    [33] Wyola Whetworth :: 21 y.o., NSGA Ulyanof (KSK) :: Int'l debut

Clearly not the strong suit of the team, but, Iksef Grondt is easily, far and away the best right wing the team has to offer, and despite playing in the second division, he’s continually proved it. A key player of the team during CMFA Nations League group stage play, he scored two goals including a screamer against Sharktail to deny them a clean sheet. Honestly, it’s a full-on shock Grondt didn’t make the full leap to the first division, should’ve been picked up by any team, however, it’s likely because many teams don’t use a 3-at-the-front formation. However, some teams should’ve looked into bring him on - i.e. Baywall who now have a 34 year old Abigail Teris in their ranks, they’re probably going to revisit adding youth later in the season, as Grondt is the star and likely isn’t going anywhere for the time being. At Vitel, it’s been...well...vital to their team and how its style is played out, he likely is going to continue doing that for some time being the best and most technically-skilled player they have on the pitch. He is so good he received offers to leave the second division and move to foreign leagues in the Melayu Archipelago, of course he turned them down, eyeing a move toa big money league as the next destination for the budding start. Beneath him, the person who engineered Tokavalv’s impressive run during the Kopahaven, Alex Garza with the Tkoavalv Splurge;; he’s had a good domestic season and makes his debut for the national team. We also have an out-of-position Wyola Wheteorth who we’re not too entirely sure why she made the team to begin with, she didn’t do anything to warrant being on the national team with Baywall. (She didn’t do anything worth a move to Kelssek, but here we are).

Savojar Roster for World Cup Qualifier 85

TEAM

STAFF

Coach: Mikaela Rangren
Age: 47 // Coach since: Copa Rushmori 34
Mikaela Rangren has been working as an assistant coach to Lise Asbeck in the legendary World Cup 81 run, and has served two more national managers in the NT. Now she has taken over the reigns for an attempt at salvaging the Savojar NT ship from its bumbling course. She has been given a contract until the end of WC 85, and her appointment represents a turn away from intricate tactics and towards more Savojar virtues. She will probably look for a more direct approach to the game, relying on Savojarna’s physical culture and passionate, fighting spirit. Rangren has shown a particular strength in keeping the team together, and it seemed like her continued presence as a mediator may have helped to get the team back on track quickly after the split surrounding Jurtanen in the World Cup 84 qualification. Her Copa campaign has seen her highly successful at integrating new talent, advancing to the finals and losing to Eura only very narrowly.

Coaching Team: Johan Andreassen, Alexey Jotanov, Asgeir Rundberg
Ages: 45, 48, 65 // Special functions: Main assistant, Video coach, Physical trainer
Andreassen is an old friend of Rangren who has gone through coaching education together with her. He now supports her as an all-round assistant, although he will probably focus more on leading the team on the pitch rather than supporting tactics and preparation.
Jotanov is a rather creative tactical mind and one half of the U-21 co-coaching team. He has been brought on board as part of the WC90 project to create a more unified approach across the three Savojar national teams (adult, U21, U18). He will be here mainly to support Rangren off the pitch with video trainings and tactics briefing.
Rundberg got introduced after criticisms that the team had not been sufficiently prepared for the long WCQ campaign. As physical and conditioning trainer, he has a reputation of a tough and demanding man, although he works closely with the medical team to ensure Savojarna's players are well prepared for their games.

Goalkeeper Coach: Valtteri Andersson
Age: 48
Andersson was a long-term goalkeeper for Energie Thorsborg and got directly transferred into the club's youth department when he retired at age 33. Following some good work with the club's youth department, he got trained as a GK coach and worked with the first team and the U21 of Energie for a while before being brought onto the squad of the NT early on. He still works with Energie on the side and is reputed to be very good at developing a goalkeeper's weaknesses.

Doctor: Dr. Christer Ljungberg
Age: 54
Christer is the head of the medical team of the Savojar NT and generally has a reputation of being the team’s good soul. Many players have come to him over the years to discuss their insecurities or physical problems, to the point that many consider Ljungberg to essentially be a second mental coach.

CORE TEAM

#1 Iiro Pakanen
Position: GK // Age: 26 // Height: 194 cm // Club: Jinja City FC (BNJ)
Pakanen has moved abroad after being a bit overlooked in Savojarna, and he quickly grabbed a strong hold of the lead goalie position at Jinja City FC. He is a pretty strong goalkeeper with good reflexes on the line and a very calm behaviour, helped by his experience on the international stage with Jinja City. Now, he’s being brought back to the homeland in the national team, expected to take up the legacy of recently retired legend Viktorija Petrova.

#2 Flemming Skov
Position: RB // Age: 25 // Height: 185 cm // Club: Admiral Storevik
Part of the legendary DBC 45 squad, Skov’s career has stalled a little as he was locked behind a strong Lucas Bengtsson, but he has managed to fight back for his position and got rewarded by a starting position at champions Admiral, who have gone on a transfer offensive. He is an aggressive fullback who will provide offensive pressure, and known for both speed and stamina. Will likely come off the bench if Savojarna are behind.

#3 Simon Omark
Position: CB // Age: 31 // Height: 178 cm // Club: ASK Landsmark
Omark is a strategically smart and ball-secure modern CB. He will secure the ball and organise the game from the back. In the air, he suffers from his comparatively lower height, but he compensates it with speed and intelligence. His tackles are often very well-timed, although compared to other Savojar CBs he somewhat lacks aggressiveness. Despite a bad season with ASK, he has been taken back into the team.

#4 Joonas Andersson
Position: DM // Age: 34 // Height: 187 cm // Club: Admiral Storevik
Andersson is the defensive anchor point of the Savojar midfield, and has shown a splendid championship season with Admiral. He is not very fast, but has excellent judgment and tackling skills, making him the pivot of the defence. He will often drop back between the two CB's if Savojarna have the ball and secure the defence to allow the wingbacks to overlap. Also regularly drops back against wide teams, as he is taller than most CB's in the roster and can help with aerial defence.

#5 Matts Pedersen
Position: LB // Age: 24 // Height: 187 cm // Club: Tanrısal (PAS)
Pedersen is another fast, aggressive fullback who is extremely persistent, but joins the offence aggressively. This leads to him being vulnerable to counters over the left side, where he might not be able to react in time if he was too advanced before. He has excellent 1v1 skills on both sides of the ball, but is a bit lacking in passing accuracy. His past issues with decision-making are now considered largely overcome thanks to his high-level experience in Pasarga, and he is considered a mental leader in the team.

#6 Niklas Hoyberg
Position: CM // Age: 29 // Height: 194 cm // Club: Dynamo Sjoedrhavn
Hoyman used to play a regista role, organising the game from the back; but with Rangren looking for more play through the centre, he will have to do more running work. His strength is a pinpoint accuracy in longer balls as well as a good eya, and is also a very strong header, which means that he will often go up for standards. Hoyberg's biggest weakness is that he is often passed rather easily in defence, which is balanced by a defensively oriented midfielder next to him.

#7 Mikhail Jashkin
Position: RF // Age: 24 // Height: 176 cm // Club: Farrenton Athletic (EUR)
A fast and technically gifted hybrid winger who is known for a deadly eye and his laser-like passes. While he has decent crossing skills, he tends to opt for a flat pass into the box or a dribbling instead, acting almost as a false nine that plays wide on the right. He is one of the most observed players on the team, and his move to Eura has greatly helped him to develop further into the dominating forward he is today.

#8 Victoria Maersk [C]
Position: CM // Age: 30 // Height: 157 cm // Club: Vermillion Rage (NPH)
Maersk is a classical box-to-box allrounder who is strong in most tasks, besides her aerial inferiority due to height, and has a high stamina and speed. While not excelling at anything, she is considered a utility player that will probably see a lot of playtime in various positions and roles depending on the situation. Moved to North Sabrefell in a state of insecurity, and has grown into a central force at her club, despite their recent relegation.

#9 Arvid Jotansson
Position: ST // Age: 27 // Height: 192 cm // Club: Admiral Storevik
Jotansson can assume a more forward role or something akin to a false nine, but is more at home in the box. He is a tall, physical striker who is not particularly fast, but very hard to separate from the ball and has a strong shot as well as a good eye for his teammates. Used to be a trusty substitute, but with Voynov gone at his club and Sigurdsdottir in a slump at the NT, he is becoming a viable starter after a strong season at Admiral.

#10 Morten Poulsen
Position: OM // Age: 24 // Height: 180 cm // Club: Partisan Sjoedrhavn
Poulsen grew from shaky prospect to bona-fide playmaker at Parti, and has enjoyed the love of their fans for a while now. He was also a part of the legendary DBC 45 team, although primarily as a substitute. He is a creative player that has a large stamina and a good shot, but defensively lacks caution sometimes. Plays in a very similar system at Partisan, which should make his inclusion in the team not too hard.

#11 Freya Sigurdsdottir
Position: ST // Age: 34 // Height: 193 cm // Club: ESK Storevik
At 193 cm, Freya Sigurdsdottir is the tallest striker of the Savojar squad. She is a box striker who likes to linger around the edge of the penalty area (or the enemy defence) and then use her speed to position herself in front of the goal for a rebound, cross or through pass. Expect her to score many goals especially against smaller opponents. Also known for extremely cold nerves, which is why she is a staple in the shootout. After a difficult season, it is unclear if she will play a starting role.

#12 Thomas Larsen
Position: GK // Age: 29 // Height: 195 cm // Club: CASK Thorsborg
Considered almost equal to Petrova and one of the best goalies of Savojarna, but stood in her shadow due to Petrova's NT pedigree and is now edged out by Pakanen after the latter’s success in Banija. Larsen is quite athletic and assumes control of his box. Especially at standards and in crossing situations, he likes to use his height to pluck the ball out of the sky, but he is a bit slow on the line. Has a very good read of strikers.

#13 Polina Zirkova
Position: CB // Age: 23 // Height: 182 cm // Club: CASK Sjoedrhavn
Zirkova is a pretty exciting defensive player and considered one of the most exciting young players in Savojarna right now. She is defensively solid, although not impassable. Her excitement comes from the abilities in building up the game. Zirkova often moves up to assist the midfielders, or plays long balls from the back to one of the wingers hanging back or even all the way to the playmaker. She also is confident on the ball herself, occasionally dazzling the audience with a good dribble. However, sometimes her judgement is lacking and she commits mistakes unnecessarily.

#14 Lenka Otalainen
Position: OM // Age: 30 // Height: 168 cm // Club: Savojars Vinge Virkaja
Otalainen is a classical playmaker who has superb passing skills and can play both in the box and in the offensive half or on the wing, but is a bit weaker defensively. She is likely to play if the Savojars fall behind and is remarkable thanks to her extremely precise shots even from longer distances, making her a threat for goals as well as assists.

#15 Steinar Aarsoy
Position: LM // Age: 25 // Height: 179 cm // Club: Partisan Sjoedrhavn
Steinar Aarsoy played a second convincing season in a row with Partisan, and cot the call over an aging Ville Mertonen in consequence. He is a more traditional winger than the likes of Voynov, but has a good eye and is very fast. He also often passes back to the edge of the box or into the midfield if there is open space, and isn’t shy of working backwards if required.

#16 Markus Mellin
Position: RF // Age: 29 // Height: 187 cm // Club: North Hall (BRE)
Mellin is a hybrid winger, aiming for the goal more than for the cross, and can also be used in a striker position. He is a physical player, with a strong body and breaking through the lines. He also likes using his height to position himself at the far post, aiming for any spare balls. After a breakout season at Torpedo, he was transferred to Brenecia, where he has fit right in and managed a decent season, earning himself another call-up.

#17 Bjarne Thorvaldsson
Position: LB // Age: 27 // Height: 180 cm // Club: Partisan Sjoedrhavn
Thorvaldsson is a physically strong and defensively minded player with relatively high likelihood of fouls. Hard to pass, but also rarely moving forward, he is somewhat of a polar opposite to Pedersen, and looks like he comes straight out of mediaeval Savojarna with a tall, hulking presence and a wild beard. When he has the ball, chances are he tries to get rid of it as fast as possible, even if it means smacking it into the stands.

#18 Perttu Karjanen
Position: ST // Age: 34 // Height: 176 cm // Club: Partisan Sjoedrhavn
Karjanen is the polar opposite of Sigurdsdottir and Jotansson, as he uses his speed and technique to make up for his lower height. He often drops back into the space between the defence and the midfield to wait for balls and play in a combi with either winger or with Sigurdsdottir. As a veteran player and former captain of the team, he is considered extremely important for the mentality of the side as well.

#19 Krister Voynov
Position: LF // Age: 26 // Height: 177 cm // Club: Raynor City United (VAL)
Potentially the most exciting single player in the Savojar team, this fast and skilful winger is a constant threat. Voynov loves to swing inside to challenge an opposing defender directly and is extremely good in 1v1 situations. He also scores many goals with a strong and precise shot, and has accurate passing skills as well. His main weakness is a lack of defensive work, forcing the left side to cover for his roaming.

#20 Linne Kjaer
Position: CB // Age: 29 // Height: 182 cm // Club: Dynamo Sjoedrhavn
Similar to Omark, she is technically and positionally strong and knows what to do on the ball. Kjaer is somewhat slow but makes up for this mistake by knowing very well where to stand, and has a great skill in standing duels for the ball. Her tackles can be a bit shaky at times and may lead to mistakes or fouls, which is why she rarely resorts to them. Kjaer is also important as the organiser of the defence.

#21 Alexey Nurkanen
Position: RB // Age: 29 // Height: 180 cm // Club: Libertas Bergheim
Nurkanen is very fast and a precise tackler, as well as having good judgment in building up plays. He often overlaps dangerously as well, having a great cross that can find the head of his teammates in the box. Nurkanen's stamina is lauded for often running up and down the line all day long, but he can sometimes be a bit out of the water when challenged in a fast counter due to his overlaps.

#22 Aleksandra Virulainen
Position: GK // Age: 22 // Height: 181 cm // Club: Partisan Sjoedrhavn
Virulainen uses a great awareness and control of the box to counter-act her comparatively lower height and has shown brilliant oversight. She is among the best goalkeepers in Savojarna, and by far the best of her age, when it comes to ball-on-foot skills, and many see her as Petrova's eventual successor in the national team. Has made an appearance as starting goalie in DBC 47 and was a part of the most recent World Cup campaign, although she still awaits her first elite NT match. May get the call given her recent promotion to starting keeper at Partisan.

#23 Roman Forsberg
Position: CB // Age: 26 // Height: 188 cm // Club: Olympia Borograd (STL)
Forsberg is another one of the Savojar ball-secure, modern CB's, but shows some nerves at times. He has greatly profited from taking on a more important role in his club and has cut down on his mistakes, but is still prone to occasional over-aggressive positioning or similar faults. His best skill is his heading, as he is a very strong jumper and tall player. He will often join the attack on standards.

Manager: Image Elidyr Lyndainium • Formation: 4-4-2

It's been a long grind since their debut back in the 75th edition but the Golden Eagles head into their campaign for the 85th edition as they try to repeat their feat of the WC80 cycle where they won two trophies within that cycle, with their final victories over Audioslavia and Drawkland giving them the Cup of Harmony title and the Independents Cup title respectively. The team have since plateaued on the international stage, and is at risk of a fall from grace which had been on the cards. Last time round, Dini didn't even make it to the group stage and were relegated to the Cup of Hrmony, where they ultimately finished fourth. The team hopes to return to an upward trajectory under Cenian gaffer Elidyr Lyndainium as manager of the Mercedinian National Football Team. With two major trophies under his belt, many are wondering how far he can take the national team, and whether or not his tactics and style of football will wear off anytime soon, much like former manager David Bjarnasson after he was sacked in the very next cycle after qualifying for the 77th World Cup. Lyndainium could be gone if results do not pick up this edition, so the pressure is certainly building in the Mercedinian camp.

Mercedini have been unsurprisingly absent from the international stage in recent months. No U18 action, no U21 action, no friendlies, no nothing. To combat that, Lyndaimium has gone with what can only be classed as a transition line-up in goal, featuring the nation's most experienced international goalkeepers with young and upcoming goalies plying their trade abroad, also thrown into the mix. In a long qualification schedule, you will need those moments where experience is key, but the nation clearly needs to look ahead and nurture it's young footballers if it wants to win another international trophy. The era of Mercedini being an dangerous unknown have long since passed, to climb back up to those heights, Mercedini need to tap into their youthful enthusiasm which got them there in the first place. Zoloroni City #1 Hosset will lead the line once again, with Vorsini and Elaani the two newcomers to add new ideas and play-styles into the melting pot. Goalkeeping is always seen as a vanilla position, rarely changing and evolving in it's position on the pitch despite it's importance. The moves by Lyndainium are seen as a major gamble given the importance of these campaigns, Vorsini and Elaani will need to perform to make those gambles worthwhile for their manager and their association.

Out with the old, in with the new. Lyndainium stuck with his previous qualifying team for the previous couple of edition, with little to no effect between them, so it was only a matter of time before something had to change. New play-styles and abilities can be introduced, with expertise siphoned from a plethora of different nations adds to a fresh-looking roster for the Mercedinian defensive line. Blue Strike Zoloroni has been seen as the goldmine for the national team, with Stretovsky the newest addition to the roster following their breakout MPL after being promoted Mercedini's top tier. There is nowhere to hide on the plethora of World Cup pitches that this team will play on throughout the campaign, so they will have to lay it all on the turf when they get down to it.

Once again, only a handful of changes to the midfield roster and they take the reigns for the national team, with the good performances put forward by the midfield squad warranting national praise and re-selection for the upcoming qualification campaign. Mercedini has put itself on the map with it's attractive brand on attacking and controlling football, with the midfield quartet always at the heart of the action as they ebb and flow with the action of the game. Cricket scores can be chalked up when this group is in form, with experienced veterans teaming up with enthusiastic young-guns to provide plenty of variety and depth to Lyndainium as he attempts to get maximum efficiency from his players. Mercedini have often struggled against the top teams due to their inability to keep up with the midfield play, but this group of players are well experienced from one previous cycle together. It is simply a question of whether Mercedini can be put in the same bracket as the top tier of football-playing nations.

STRIKERS
ST Daniel Dostalok 25 Image Starling
ST Ben Chillotov 24 Image Lajuno
ST Adrian Talisky 18 Image Blue Strike Zoloroni
ST Cody Graszeszak 23 Image KF Qastyr
ST Feliks Alva 23 Image Elspachia

In a roster where there has been little to no change, the prolific group of strikers has only seen one change from the group which got their call-ups to the senior last edition, with Adrian Talisky replacing Charlie Alotic as Lyndainium sticks which his youthful striking team which has begun to bear fruit for the nation in previous editions. Talisky is certainly seen as the next generation of talismanic striker, after Billic and Chillotov have done before them. After scoring more than twenty goals in the past two season for BSZ, the teenager has certainly earned his stripes, where he hopes to add another cutting edge to the quintet.

Chillotov and Dostalok remain the top two in the Mercedinian striking world and are selected once again to lead the line. They have been holding steady for their respective clubs, and are finally within their caibre of quality after lighting up their respective leagues before moving aborad to face greener pastures. All of these players used to play for their hometown club before moving for considerable amounts of money to their current clubs, effectively bankrolling their boyhood clubs for a while. Not playing internationally, they have been through the highs and lows of the qualifying schedule, so nothing should come as a shock to them as they go through the gears once again. Minnows and Juggernauts will have to face off against these players, whoever comes out of the other end will likely decide the campaign for Mercedini, with so much tied on the performances of these strikers.

The prosperous capital of Mercedini is the stage for the Mercedinian campaign for World Cup Qualification once again. The Zoloroni Sports City Stadium was built in 2012 and has been the national team's home stadium since it was built. The stadium used to hold over 61,000 people, but a recent refurbishment meant that the capacity has increased by approximately 13,000 with the new capacity sitting at roughly 74,500 with the new visiting allocation still being just less than a quarter of that at 18,000. The stadium has hosted a Baptism of Fire final and an Independent's Cup final and third-place play-off during IAC's two and five respectively. those matches were combined with it's hosting of weekly Zoloroni City matches in the MPL, but the capital team have since been evicted after they built their own stadium just down the road. The stadium is still accustomed to regular football featuring the nation's and the multiverse's best teams, when it hosts the MFA Cup final plus playoff finals for National League 1 and National League 2. Mercedinians and visiting spectators who don't have tickets can have a drink in one of the many bars and pubs or they can chill in the World Cup FanZone where they can watch the matches on the big screens along with other football enthusiasts.

Mercedini has two national languages and both are universally spoken in the nation as children are taught both at a young age. Mercedinian is the native language of all citizens and is based around the Italian language, knowing the language isn't paramount to a tourist's experience but Mercedinians always appreciate a foreigner attempting to communicate in Mercedinian. If learning a foreign language isn't your thing then English is also universally spoken throughout the nation (especially in cities and other metropolitan areas as it is considered the language of business and commerce). It is common for Mercedinians to speak more than one language with some opting for a third if proficient enough in their previous two, Google Translate is also only a couple of clicks away if you need it.

Mercedini's national currency is the Mercede (M) and is used universally for the nation's transactions. Currently, the Mercede is a strong and reliable currency with 1.56 NationStates Dollars equalling 1 Yvroni (M0.64 = 1 NS$). Goods & Services in Mercedini are comparably cheap thanks to low operating costs, free-trade deals and low import tariffs for foreign goods, they can be paid for using the common Mercede currency, although visitors can pay with NS Dollars or use their credit or debit cards, with card users ruged to pay in their own currency for better conversion rates. Citizens of Mercedini are pretty well-off with average incomes topping ¥145,000 (226,822 NS$) which means luxury goods & services are as much a part of Mercedinian shopping-culture as the bargains.

Food & Drink is considered a pillar of Mercedinian culture, which means visitors are literally in for a treat when they visit one of the nations many cafes, restaurants, bars or pubs. As previously mentioned, integration has played a large part in the cuisine, but ultimately Mercedinian cuisine has stayed largely close to it's roots. Mercedinian cuisine, like the language, is based on Italian cuisine, with flavourful pasta and rice dishes on offer, along with pizzas and stuffed flatbreads perfect for carnivores and vegetarians. For the tourists, dishes from their home nation will always be on offer which means that visitors can always have a taste of home while enjoying the action in Mercedini. If you're a fan of carb crashes, we think you'll love our nosh!

As it is the official capital city of Mercedini as well as the commercial hub of the nation, Zoloroni is large bustling city littered with modern skyscrapers and office buildings. Zoloroni will be at the centre of the action, holding the host arena as well as hosting most of the pre-festival events that will happen in Mercedini. Visitors will not be disappointed as Zoloroni has restaurants, shops and sightseeing trips in abundance, meaning that performers and fans have plenty of activities waiting for them on their off-days. Zoloroni's main attraction is the Sports City and the shopping centres located just a small journey away from the city centre.

Mercedinans are generally very peaceful to visitors and will pretty much always help out foreigners if they need a recommendation for a restaurant or need help finding direction of their favourite tourist spot, Mercedinian usually keep to themselves out on the street but will converse with almost anyone if approached in a friendly manner, and it always helps to know a bit of Mercedinian first. As a nation, Mercedini welcomes new visitors with open arms and hopes every tourist has a great experience in our nation. Andiamo!

If you want to know more about Mercedini before you visit, feel free to TG me about life in the country

A Note From Merc:

During this edition, Mercedini will be experiencing the effects of an epidemic similar in scale to that currently being experienced today. As such, all Mercedinian home games will be played in an empty Sports City Stadium in Zoloroni. Teams travelling to play in Mercedini and foreign press are still able to enter the nation at this present time, and all visitors are assured that the integrity of the game and their health will not be compromised. Every precaution is being taken to ensure those in Mercedini and those who visit remain in good health.

Whether nations that host games featuring Mercedini implement their own controls is up to them, as is their right. The public health of host nations is in no way effected as ICly, players will be tested before departure to play their game. Nations are under no obligation to even acknowledge the fact that such an issue exists, and I will be perfectly happy to accommodate within reason. Those nations that wish to change the venue of a Mercedinian home game can contact me through Telegram or Discord DMs, and I will also be happy to accommodate. Any RP featuring Mercedini that contradicts something written here (e.g. fans in the stadium) will be ignored.

This RP-arc is in no way trying to disrespect those effected by the current global situation. Furthermore, I can understand the sentiment to have some escapism and build your own world as you wish. Users are free to interpret and engage with the RP-arc however they wish, if at all. Stay safe!

Bliuji Mens National Soccer Team WC85

Team History

The Bliuji Mens National Soccer team was founded on April,18th 2018, it's entire roster is made up of 20 players from Bliuji's pro league the Bliujian Super League. The first international tournament the team participated in was the Baptism of Fire 70. Where the team would go on to finish first in the San Hacienda Group with a record of 5-0-1. 11gf, 6ga and 15 points - the national team was off to a better start than expected. Without having a single player who had prior experience at the international level they really persevered the conflict. After the group stage they would beat Kandonica at home 3-1, and then go on to loose a close 1-0 game in the quarterfinals against San Felix. World cup 83 however is where things took a turn for the worst, as Bliuji would conclude their world cup 83 performance with a reccord of 2-6-4, 13gf, 18ga and 12 points - far worse than BOF 70. Moving on now to world cup 84, the team finally had some decent experience behind them. They would finish 7th in group 8, where they would yet again do awful and go 8-3-9, 42 gf, 41 ga and 27 points.

Staff

Head Coach: Andriy Shevchenko | Prussia FC | Age 56 | Preferred formation 4-4-2 |
Andriy Shevchenko's main accomplishment is leading the in-experienced Bliuji squad to the quarterfinals in BOF 70. He is an older coach that is leading this national squad in the wrong direction. And with him on edge with general manager Andriy Voronin; a good World Cup 85 performance, will be the difference in him being fired or not.

Assistant Coach: Mauro Tassotti | Lakewood | Age 39 |

Assistant Coach: Andrea Maldera | North Shore Legends | Age 36 |

General Manager: Andriy Voronin | Hamza Coast | Age 24 |

Team Analyst: Volodymyr Onyshchenko | holvah.com | Age 26 |

Goalkeeping Coach: Pedro Luis Jaro | Prussia FC | Age 45 |

Fitness Coach: Ivan Bashtovyi | North Field | Age 37 |

Starting 11

GK: Andriy Pyatov | Lake wood | Age 25 |
The notorious Bliujian goalkeeper has been in this position ever since the team started competing at the international level. He made a great showing in the BOF. From just watching him you could tell he was a goalkeeper that had plenty of potential. He had lightning quick reactions, quick agility, is strong, and never showed fear. Bliuji's staff really thought they had found the franchise goalkeeper that they needed. A goal keeper with outstanding mechanical skill, soccer iq but most importantly a goalkeeper that would never keep his head down when times were tough, he really seemed like a true leader on and off the field. However things went downhill real fast as Pyatov has gotten noticeably worse by under-performing in every international tournament since the BOF. Not to mention he is in a similar situation to head coach Andriy Shevchenko, World Cup 85 will also be Pyatov's opportunity to turn things around and show that he deserves this starting position. Let's not forget his stats totally reflect his performance on the field, as the young goalkeeper currently possesses a 76.7% save percentage and a 1.60 gaa.

DF: Lawrence Biryukov | Odessa Sound | Age 27 |
Lawrence Biryukov is a veteran defense men on this squad. He is very dilligent, has a passive play style and has amazing teamwork. Because of his intelligence he is naturally a play maker. Not known for having good mechanics.

DF: Karp Yuriev "A" | Prussia FC | Age 21 |
When someone talks about Bliuji's defense Karp Yuriev is the first player to pop up into their head. He is the leader of this defense. Also the strongest on the team and has outstanding passing ability.

DF: Lenoid Ozerov | Hamza Coast | Age 22 |
Lenoid Ozerov took the starting position from Tim Kolesnikov after his amazing preformance in the IAC 8 and in Bliuji's pro league. Known for his extremely passive and calculated playstyle, makes him unique from the other defense-men,

DF: Roman Aksakov | Backwoods | Age 29 |
He has good chemistry no matter who his defensive team-mates are. Also has very good man to man coverage and can clear the ball in high pressure situations.

MF: Sviatoslav Vasiliev | Backwoods | Age 25 |
With Sidor Alexandrov retiring, Erik Belov needed a solid replacement and that's exactly what he got.

MF: Vitaly Aksakov | Prussia FC | Age 23 |
A good mechanically skilled player in every aspect of the game.

MF: Gabriel Kolesnikov | Prussia FC | Age 23 |
Another veteran player, known to be a defensive midfielder. He can still play aggressive when he needs to and overall he is a good player.

MF: Erik Belov "C" | Prussia FC | Age 26 |
Erik Belov is by no doubt the best player on this team. He has amazing shot accuracy and power, he is fast and he is amazing at creating scoring opportunities for his team mates. Which explains why he has the most assists on the team.

FW: David Izmaylov | North field | Age 30 |
Although not known for good mechanical skill. Izmaylov was selected because of his good chemistry with Daniel Lyskov. These two players go hand in hand.

FW: Daniel Lyskov "A" | Backwoods | Age 21 |
Has great shooting ability, leads the team in goals with 20. Has great chemistry with Izmaylov.

Bench

GK: Philip Tretiakov | Odessa Sound | Age 21 |
One of the "better" goalkeepers in Bliuji, still developing and has a lot of potential.

DF: Tim Kolesnikov | Backwoods | Age 23 |
Lost his starting position to Lenoid Ozerov, Still one of the best defenders in Bliuji

MF: Nikon Kotov | Prussia FC | Age 24 |
Purely a play maker, likes to play passive. He lacks good shooting ability and speed.

MF: Erast Bezrukov | Odessa Sound | Age 22 |
A great player, however he wasn't selected in the top 11 for chemistry reasons.

MF: Kyle Gordon | North Shore Legends | Age 22 |
Similar player to Bezrukov.

FW: Spartacus Yuriev | Odessa Sound | Age 22 |
Another good Bliujian forward on the come up. Only seems to play well with Yefremov though.

FW: Philemon Yefremov | Lake wood | Age 24 |
He is Spartacus Yuriev's duo partner. Both have good skill and both weren't chosen because they don't play well with Bliuji's current midfield.

FW: Xanderikek Miles | Waterford Bandits | Age 20 |
Him and Carl Mackwood are dangerous together. Both were products of the U-18 national team and were immediately signed to Waterford FC in the BSL.

FW: Carl Mackwood | Waterford Bandits | Age 20 |
Carl Mackwood is the future of Bliujian football.

Roles
Captain: Erik Belov
Assistant Captain: Karp Yuriev
Assistant Captain: Daniel Lyskov
Corner Kicks: Vitaly Aksakov & Erast Bezrukov if Vitaly Aksakov is not on the field
Free Kicks: Daniel Lyskov & Spartacus Yuriev if Daniel Lyskov is not on the field
Penalties: Erik Belov, Daniel Lyskov, Sviatoslav Vasiliev, Spartacus Yuriev, Philemon Yefremov, Gabriel Kolesnikov and Carl Mackwood.

World Cup 85 Qualifying Player Pool

Goalkeepers
Stovar Krieven - North Laithland (NPH) - 31y/o - 37 caps - Male
Of the many Confederates who have taken their talents abroad, Krieven is definitely one of the success stories. Leaping from floundering Interblag to the Nepharim Premiership, he spent two years with Bishop, being relegated the first, and earned himself an offer from North Laithland, who have established themselves as a consistently mid-table club of late. As a keeper, he is known for his athleticism and, increasingly, his *ahem* enthusiastic and outspoken communication with his defense. If nothing else, the back line will be very clear on what his expectations of them are.

Argis Ekewakan - Yassaca - 32 y/o - 1 cap - Male
Ekewakan was a big part of Yassaca's run to second place. Though some have disparaged his achievements, giving more credit to the superb defense in front of him, detailed analysis of his play shows a smart player who reads the attack particularly well. Finishing as runner-up to the former Qusmo first choice for goalkeeper of the year is no shortcoming on his part.

Helaia Sivitri - Arkintoofle United - 28 y/o - 0 caps - Female
The fabled goalkeeper-under-thirty has finally been found (though she won't be under thirty for too much longer). On an Arkintoofle United team with some definite gaps in the back line, Sivitri took firm hold of the starting position, and acquitted herself well, despite the team's unspectacular goals against figure. It's not the same sort of challenge as some of the other keepers on this list have faced, but Tamela seems to realize that the Black-and-Reds can't ride on Stovar Krieven's shoulders forever.

Kinner Mustahil - Chalesm FC - 33 y/o - 8 caps - Male
Mustahil has had his ups and downs over the years, but definitely seems set to end his international career on a high note. He has yet to come right out and say it in certain terms, but this will likely be his last World Cup. He's an experienced player with good positioning instincts, but as his physical prowess begins to fade, he simply won't be up to the level of international play any longer. For now though, he still makes the roster.

Left Backs
Djabgor Dzarkhin - Foxchester Raiders (STB) - 31 y/o - 72 caps - Male
Dzarkhin has been the very definition of a steady, dependable national team fullback for nearly a decade now.

Olev Clegg - Yassaca - 32 y/o - 0 caps - Male
Named to the Season 5 team of the year (along with almost every other Yassaca defender), Clegg earned himself a shot at the national team. While at 32, he is older even than Dzarkhin, and won't be the successor the team will need to find in the coming years, he can certainly make a strong contribution this cycle.

Jaylene Kazarov - Syneca AC - 24 y/o - 0 caps - Female
Kazarov is a strong wingback with an excellent workrate. After helping Syneca follow up their shocking Superleague title with a third place finish in Season 5, she gets the callup to the national team. Whether her defensive skills are strong enough to go up against the multiverse's best is perhaps in question.

Right Backs
Jinkzta Ulcviecel - Jinja City (BNJ) - 34 y/o - 80 caps - Male
Trailing retired center back Tervi Oleb by just four, Ulcviecel seems set to retire as the most capped player in Confederate history (though with a number of others not far behind him, he likely won't hold the record for long. Some of his trademark speed remains, but as age has taken its toll, Ulcviecel has settled into a more moderated style of play. It shouldn't be thought that this has necessarily represented a decline in quality just yet though.

Janar Delu - Algolia AC - 31 y/o - 43 caps - Male
Seemingly perpetually stuck behind Ulcviecel on the depth chart, Delu is a full back in a similar mold to Dzarkhin, dependable but not flashy. Does a decent enough job going forward, but he's mostly there to stop the attack.

Reuter Storsjo - Traal Athletics - 26 y/o - 0 caps - Male
Storsjo, unlike a series of center backs, has stuck around at Traal, and now into his prime, will be an excellent option for the national team as Ulcviecel and Delu continue to age. He is a two-way player, but tends slightly conservative, careful to get back and defend when necessary.

Center Backs
Rudi Dalso - Jaglan Royals - 29 y/o - 44 caps - Male
With Tervi Oleb stepping away from the international game, Dalso is the most established and respected center back remaining, despite his club's recent struggles.

Walda Harkhan - Yassaca - 22 y/o - 0 caps - Female
Season 5's Defender of the Year, Harkhan (not to be confused with her twin sister Valda, who plays for Brasta), looks to be a fixture on the Black-and-Reds backline for years to come.

Skumantas Nakhutin - Gladerial United (VAL) - 31 y/o - 20 caps - Male
Nakhutin is the sort of defender that you don't notice so much, because he does the little things right. There isn't so much need for spectacular last second tackles when you're in the right position to begin with.

Aryel Ciernik - Algolia - 22 y/o - 0 caps - Female
Not quite the same level or precocious that Harkhan has been, Ciernik still had a solid year with Algolia, and is developing a reputation as a fearless tackler. Despite her penchant for collisions, she has thus far shown just enough restraint to avoid picking up as many cards as you might expect.

Svardo Vrboska - Interblag - 26 y/o - 0 caps - Male
Joining Interblag on the cheap from Bardjov four years ago, and sticking with the Blue when they went down, Vrboska has quietly emerged as a very competent center back.

Zemen Ystrad - Parrhesia United (NPH) - 31 y/o - ? caps - Male
Ystrad has been around the national team pool for a good long while now. He has abundant experience, albeit a lot of it has been with frustrating results. Twice relegated from the Premiership in Nephara, he's a good player, but with the national team looking to reload with youth, he seems unlikely to be a first-team choice at this point.

Mamoona Acuff - Damogran FC - 29 y/o - 2 caps - Female
Acuff's career has been a bit up and down, but Damogran finally seem to be coalescing into a capable team (despite a heartbreaking fifth place finish in Season 5). She is their defensive vice captain, and the core of the back line.

Wing Midfielders
Jzeovak Vladcik - Admiral Storevik (SVJ) - 26 y/o - 72 caps - Male
Also comfortable playing at left forward or striker, Vladcik is enjoying a career renaissance of sorts. Having won the SFS with Admiral, he's back in vogue with the national team, and still has many years of football ahead of him.

Meaza Teklu - Megabrantid SC -29 y/o - 11 caps - Female
Right mid is something of a thin position for the Black-and-Reds at present, with Vrenz Tambura stepping down from international football, after seldom being called upon during CoH76 and IAC9. Teklu is a good starter, but nothing spectacular. Passes well, and gets a lot of crosses in, even if they aren't all exactly made with pinpoint accuracy.

Izoni Hocij - Chalesm - 26 y/o - 11 caps - Female
Hocij has proven that she knows how to get the ball into the goal, and has earned a spot on the team of the year as the consensus best left mid in the Superleague for the past two seasons.

Lavanya Naqvi - Mâ Âlâmëómë (FFD) - 27 y/o - 13 caps - Female
Naqvi seems just a bit behind Hocij in Tamela's eyes at present, something that could change quickly if she shows she can compete at a high club level after her big move to Farfadillis. She's a superb technician, but perhaps hangs on to the ball a little too long sometimes.

Keala Drunau - Hensha - 27 y/o - 0 caps - Female
Perhaps benefiting from the paucity of available right midfielders, Drunau is named on the strength of her play in Hensha's recent promotion season.

Aatu Ruoho - Brantisvogan - 28 y/o - 34 caps - Male
Once anointed the one true successor to Vladcik at left mid, Ruoho's fortunes have fallen off along with Brantisvogan's. He's a well rounded midfielder, comfortable in either a shooting or distributing role, but has seemed to lack a bit of the touch he had earlier in his twenties.

Center Midfielders
Jirar Lomidan - Ibini FC (VAL) - 30 y/o - 12 caps - Male
Another player, like Vladcik, highly regarded in the infancy of the Confederate international program. Lomidan also had to look abroad for an opportunity to prove his quality. Establishing oneself as top-choice center mid anywhere is difficult, but Lomidan managed to do so in the Eternal Empire no less.

Iuri Takala - Megabrantid SC - 27 y/o - 30 caps - Male
Takala did his level best in Season 5 to make the center mid decision as difficult as possible. A year ago, MSC were coming off an underwhelming campaign, and there was little argument that he should be preferred over Lomidan (despite his inclusion in the SCFA team of the year). No longer. Takala and company stormed to the league title, and his status as the best center mid in the league was affirmed.

Viordar Rebljeten - Algolia AC - 28 y/o - 31 caps - Male
The third man in the conversation at center mid, Rebljeten is definitely more of an attacker than the other two, but could find his position at attacking mid threatened if Tamela wants to find a way to play both Takala and Lomidan, as will likely be the case in key matches. Rebljeten perhaps needs to do a bit more to establish himself as a top-level player independent of Sigrid Eisenhauer, whose prodigious talent makes everyone in the Algolia attack look good.

Isperia Marrish - Megabrantid SC - 22 y/o - 0 caps - Female
With Season 5 Young Player of the Year and a spot on the corresponding Young Galacticos longlist to her name, Marrish is a definitely a rising star in Confederate football. A clever, crisp passer, she has yet to establish herself as a significant scoring threat, though on a team as stacked with finishers as MSC, playing that role has been largely unnecessary. Whether or not she'll be content to stay at MSC, where emerging from Iuri Takala's shadow will be a tall order, remains to be seen.

Strikers
Lyzolda Petrov - Southfell United (NPH) - 26 y/o - 16 caps - Female
Petrov followed up her breakout year at Syneca with a solid debut in Nephara, leading Southfell with 19 goals. She's a complete striker with no major weaknesses, unless one were to fault her on a possible lack of sheer physical bulk, which is more than made up for by her most probable forward partner.

Zoban Ajao - Unioneers (EUR) - 29 y/o - 74 caps - Male
Not yet 30, Ajao is nonetheless a seasoned international veteran, having played through times of plenty and lean years both. His imposing presence at the center of the attack, coupled with the experience to use height and strength effectively, are something that opposing defenses will ignore to their peril.

Kaalia Gerstlauer - Blacklake Blues (TAE) - 24 y/o - 8 caps - Female
Falling out of national team consideration after being mired mid-table with Royals, Gerstlauer's star is back on the rise after establishing herself as a reliable goalscorer with freewheeling Blacklake. In that striker's paradise, Gerstlauer has been able to refine her dribble-heavy style quite a bit, and is definitely a much more well-rounded player than when she first came on the scene at the tender age of 19.

Demkjo Jzvanic - 1912 Stelburg (STL) - 35 y/o - 72 caps - Male
A wily veteran, flawless first touch and deadly accurate shooting are Jzvanic's hallmarks. He's neither a sprinter, nor a marathon runner now at 35, but can ably serve the role of supersub (as he does with Stelburg) when the Black-and-Reds need a late goal.

Jeska Verhulst - 27 y/o - Yassaca - 5 caps - Female
While Yassaca's ascendancy has been built indisputably on defense and midfield possession, at some point you need someone to put the ball in the net. That's Verhulst's job, and one she's gotten pretty good at. At Yassaca, of course, no one is exempt from helping out defensively, and Verhulst has been molded into a high-effort, backtracking striker. The furthest thing from a poacher imaginable.

Lumia Autenrieth - Viltvodle City - 29 y/o - 0 caps - Female
Autenrieth, having requested an exit from Algolia in search of an opportunity to prove her quality, found just that in Viltvodle of all places. City had a pretty forgettable year, just managing to keep clear of the drop zone, and Lumia did a lot of the work needed to make that happen, finishing fifth in the league with 17 goals. The most impressive part of that is the utter absence of any other notable player in City's attack. She did a lot of that work on her own.

With longtime manager Bethany Donnell sacked roughly a third of the way into World Cup 84, and replacement Heldir Zaman let go following the disaster that was Cup of Harmony 76, the Black-and Reds were in need of a new manager, and without any compelling candidates. The domestic options were, well, all available for good reasons, and inaction early on in the transfer window meant that most of the compelling foreign options had already accepted offers before the SCFA had thought to make any. With few real options remaining (no offense to Bøb Übermanager), the SCFA turned inward, appointing board member Kornelie Tamela. Tamela has had extensive managerial experience in the Brantid Women's Football League before moving to the administrative side of things. While serving as manager, she has temporarily recused herself from all board votes.

NOTE TO THOSE RPING A GAME VERUS XANERRIA

Xannerian Football is played differently than most countries. For one it is hyper offensive with most teams using either 4 or 5 forwards who run directly at the goal with balls being passed only when necessary. Defense is even more alarmingly different as Xanneria RARELY calls penelties on diving (unless injuries occur) and its actually common for players to attempt to bump other players out of the way, granted this is also heavily moderated (Shoving a player with your hands is a penalty and shoving a player perpendicular to you is also a penalty). International players are trying to surpress excessive brutality, but sometimes in the heat of the game they forget. So feel free to have some of my players get Yellow carded for aggressive play.

Introduction

World Cup Qualifiers 84 weren't what Flavovespia was hoping for, falling to 9th in the group and having a PPG lower than their first set of qualifiers. Although they didn't advance from the Cup of Harmony 75 group stage, they did remain unbeaten in that tournament. Flavovespia made the first knockout round of the AOCAF Cup 60, but the tournament saw a disappointing 5-0 loss to Chromatika that was the main memory for the fans from that tournament. Flavovespia go into this World Cup cycle with a KPB position of 98th, and the nation hopes to continue on an upward trajectory, targeting the Top 75 at the end of this cycle.

National Stadia
At present the FFA have not yet announced where the specific qualifying games for the national team will be held, instead waiting for the draw to be made. The five venues to be used will be the same ones used from the previous World Cup Qualifiers. They are the 5 stadia currently permitted to host international games, cup finals and playoff finals in Flavovespia. Details are included in the spoiler below:

Hornet's Nest
Location: Waldster
Club team: Waldster FC
Capacity: 75000
Opened: 0U
Open/Closed Roof: Covered seating, retractable roof

Image

Built in the capital, the largest stadium in the nation. With it's retractable roof and impressive facilities, it was second to none when it opened in the unification year. A stadium that's seen plenty of memorable games, at club and international level. It's well connected to the capital as world, with a dedicated underground station, and close links to the nearby motorway and capital's airport. Home as well to Waldster FC, although no longer the dedicated national stadium as was once considered. However it's likely to be the choice for a match against the biggest side Flavovespia are drawn against.

Highland Road
Location: Hadford Hill
Club team: Hadford Hill FC
Capacity: 69518
Opened: 79BU
Open/Closed Roof: Open seating and field

Image

The oldest stadium still in use in Flavovespia, now over a century old. Highland Road is a stadium that's earned it's reputation as a tough place to visit, the home crowd of Hadford Hill and now Flavovespia now in voice. It doesn't have all the amenities of a modern stadium, not even boasting covered seating, but to the home faithful that just adds to the atmosphere. In some ways the opposite to the Hornet's Nest, but equally revered yet feared by fans and players.

Saints Park
Location: St Aston's

Now nearly 60 years old, Saints Park is still an impressive stadium with a solid capacity. Built originally for a variety of sports, it has since been converted to a football exclusive stadium. Never quite having the same reputation as Hornet's Nest or Highland Road, it is still cherished by the St Astons City faithful, and is perfectly adept at hosting games for Flavovespia. A stadium that has a simple but well appreciated architecture, it sits a little outside the main city centre of St Astons.

The only top-flight stadium to be completely enclosed 24/7, City Arena in Marthorpe is a unique stadium. A ground many players who aren't in Marthorpe City colours find tough to play in, with the unique atmosphere of a dome that can be off-putting. Some puritans of the game don't like it, not least given said puritans also tend to object to Marthorpe City, but nevertheless the stadium is an important and very individual part of Flavovespia's football culture.

One of Flavovespia's newest football stadiums, that still impresses even though it's existed for several years now. The whole package, stadium and external facilities were designed to impressive levels of detail, including the dedicated public transport access to the stadium, the scenic route on the coast to the stadium, and the blanket 5G coverage, unique at the time. It's not the biggest stadium in Flavovespia, but is very much the blueprint of future stadium design now, and is a happy home to Loxthorpe Rovers.

Roster

Due to the length of these qualifiers, the FFA and manager Richard Crawford have decided to call up all 30 of the players on the initial list, as opposed to a 23 + 7 reserves system. Crawford is keen to use squad depth and versatility, and to try and avoid fatigue building up over the long qualifying campaign. Most of the squad played in the AOCAF 60 recently, with only a handful of that squad missing out. With the expanded squad, some old faces return, alongside some players vying for their first caps.

(Note, all caps and goals are taken as of the start of WCQ 85)
Goalkeepers
ImageImageImageImage
Meehan, Jones, Hartwell, Bullivant

1 David Meehan Age: 30 Club: Bavingtor Caps: 36 Goals: 0
12 Robert Jones Age: 26 Club: Kings Lunsel Caps: 1 Goals: 0
23 Richard Hartwell Age: 26 Club: Capital FC (XAN) Caps: 0 Goals: 0
24 Andrew Bullivant Age: 31 Club: Langmere Green Rovers Caps: 4 Goals: 0

David Meehan is unsurprisingly the first choice goalkeeper again for Flavovespia. His club form and international form doesn’t give manager any reason not to select him as the first choice. Behind him there’s a fair competition for the second choice. Robert Jones has looked solid at club level, but is unproven at international level. Richard Hartwell adapted well to playing in Xanneria, but again has little international experience. Andrew Bullivant returns to the squad, with a handful of games for Flavovespia, but he’ll be in fierce contention to even get a chance at starting.

Left Backs
ImageImageImage
Maddox, Vaughan, Lyons

2 Ronald Maddox Age: 29 Club: Marthorpe City Caps: 45 Goals: 2
13 Scott Vaughan Age: 28 Club: Kings Lunsel Caps: 3 Goals: 0
26 David Lyons Age: 19 Club: Langmere Green Rovers Caps: 0 Goals: 0

Ronald Maddox has been a consistent figure for Flavovespia, and it’s no surprise to see him included in the national side again. The pacey wing back will probably start the bulk of the games in these qualifiers. Scott Vaughan is beginning to show that he is good enough to be a member of the national team, and will hope for some more caps in the qualifiers to continue his career path. The youngest player of the team gets called up as the 3rd choice at left back. Likely to be part of the squad for experience and development, David Lyons will still hope to get on the pitch for Flavovespia, to continue his impressive young career.

Centre Backs
ImageImageImageImageImage
James, Gardner, Wright, May, Ross

4 Mark James Age: 31 Club: Marthorpe City Caps: 45 Goals: 1
5 Tony Gardner Age: 25 Club: Kings Lunsel Caps: 47 Goals: 1
14 Neil Wright Age: 25 Club: Stanmorn Caps: 25 Goals: 0
15 Alexander May Age: 27 Club: Langmere Green Rovers Caps: 21 Goals: 0
25 Alastair Ross Age: 23 Club: Stanmorn Caps: 0 Goals: 0

Tony Gardner is probably the pick of the centre backs for Flavovespia. Not quite at his peak in the AOCAF 60, he is however more composed and has reduced his tendency to cause trouble for himself. Mark James’ poor performance against Chromatika in said tournament will be remembered, and potentially opens up the competition for the starting centre back spot. Neil Wright and Alexander May are players used to international football, and will be pressing their case to add to their tally of caps. Alastair Ross however is one of a fair number of uncapped players called up. He’ll be hoping to see some game time, as he continues his development as a defender, now at new club Stanmorn.

Right Backs
ImageImageImage
Shepherd, Blythe, Moore

3 Stephen Shepherd Age: 27 Club: Waldster Caps: 20 Goals: 0
16 David Blythe Age: 22 Club: Marthorpe City Caps: 11 Goals: 0
27 Stephen Moore Age: 28 Club: Loxthorpe Rovers Caps: 19 Goals: 0

Stephen Shepherd looks the most solid defensively of the 3 right backs called up, and has also shown a good level of consistency, both at club and international level. David Blythe is still a young developing wing back, and is being compared to his club teammate Maddox, for his style of play and overall potential. Stephen Moore returns to the national side, not expected to earn a huge number of caps, but could still make an impression if he finds form.

Left Midfielders
ImageImage
Feld, Somers

8 Jonathan Feld Age: 26 Club: Marthorpe City Caps: 34 Goals: 2
30 William Somers Age: 28 Club: Loxthorpe Rovers Caps: 0 Goals: 0

The wide midfield positions seem something of a position Flavovespia are lacking in. Jonathan Feld continues to be given the nod in this position. Not the most attacking of players to play here, nor the most spectacular, but a solid, dependable player. Forward David Michael, not listed here, can also play in this position, especially in an attacking left midfield role. William Somers will also be given the chance to debut in the qualifiers. He plays a similar role at club level to the nation team formation, and thus could well adapt quickly to international football.

Centre Midfielders
ImageImageImageImageImage
Buttery, King, Winward, Richmond, Ahmed

6 Brian Buttery Age: 28 Club: Waldster Caps: 3 Goals: 0
7 James King Age: 30 Club: Stanmorn Caps: 54 Goals: 6
28 Charles Winward Age: 27 Club: Stanmorn Caps: 9 Goals: 0
29 Valentine Richmond Age: 26 Club: Westwood Garden City Caps: 0 Goals: 0
31 Murad Ahmed Age: 24 Club: Langmere Green Rovers Caps: 0 Goals: 0

James King will no doubt play a pivotal role for Flavovespia, with his set pieces, passing and vision second to none in the squad. Brian Buttery’s performances at the AOCAF 60 and for Waldster have helped him return to the national side for the World Cup Qualifiers 85, not something all of the previous squad have managed. Charles Winward returns to the national side after quite a long time out, and will hope to challenge for a place in the starting XI. However he’ll have competition from 2 debutants. Valentine Richmond has been impressive for Westwood Garden City, with an accurate long shot in his arsenal. Murad Ahmed has a powerful engine for Langmere Green Rovers, always all around the pitch, looking to win the ball and create an opportunity in some way.

Right Midfielders
ImageImage
Hall, Ace

11 Steven Hall Age: 27 Club: Kings Lunsel Caps: 56 Goals: 18
22 Christopher Ace Age: 24 Club: St Astons City Caps: 1 Goals: 0

Steven Hall is indispensable to Flavovespia, the “raumdeuter” role is his forte, and in any game he can be a threat to create something. Ideally played as a right attacking midfielder, the captain can also play in the centre or even left attacking midfield role, or potentially as a striker. He’ll be key for Flavovespia’s chances in these qualifiers. Christopher Ace has looked impressive since moving to St Astons City, with his unbelievable pace and good crossing and finishing, and would likely be a starter if not for Hall. Indeed it will be interesting to see how Crawford fits him into the national team setup, if at all.

Forwards
ImageImageImageImageImageImage
Daley, Coleman, Michael, Sharratt, Martin, Lawler

9 Terence Daley Age: 29 Club: Marthorpe City Caps: 28 Goals: 7
10 Scott Coleman Age: 24 Club: Stanmorn Caps: 44 Goals: 24
19 David Michael Age: 29 Club: Hadford Hill Caps: 15 Goals: 1
21 Marc Sharratt Age: 23 Club: St Astons City Caps: 15 Goals: 3
32 Ramon Martin Age: 31 Club: Langmere Green Rovers Caps: 14 Goals: 2
33 John Lawler Age: 26 Club: Waldster Caps: 0 Goals: 0

Some are critical of Richard Crawford taking 6 forwards to the World Cup Qualifiers, but there’s a belief the position is competitive, and all deserve a chance. Terence Daley was a bright spark at the AOCAF 60. A more traditional centre forward, not flashy on the ball but strong at getting it in the net, he’ll hope to add to his tally of international goals. Scott Coleman with his pace and ever improving finishing is seen as probably the best striker of Flavovespia. He’ll hope to reach his peak, and avoid any time off due to injuries. David Michael hasn’t had the most impressive international career, but provides useful utility for the national team as a fairly adaptable striker and left midfielder, who can play multiple roles. Marc Sharratt is pacey, and a bit of a “Super Sub”, with a reputation for scoring late goals. Ramon Martin is an experienced head returning to the national side. His strength seems to be in shaking off markers to find space to make accurate shots. A relatively consistent performer at club level, although maybe not the striker with the highest peak in the national team. John Lawler has started to hit form for Waldster, after his big transfer from Butterfield Rovers not too long ago, and has been rewarded with a call up to the national side, even if the competition for places is tough.

Manager Richard Crawford, 47

Crawford's career as national team manager has been middling so far. Whilst he didn't drag Flavovespia out of the slump in World Cup Qualifiers 84, he did at least earn praise for a decent performance at the Cup of Harmony 75. In AOCAF 60 he met expectactions of reaching the knockout stages, but not particularly convincingly, and Flavovespia suffered a heavy loss to Chromatika in the group stages. Nobody thinks Flavovespia should be expected to qualify for World Cup 85, but Crawford can't rest on his laurels to remain in the seat. He favours a 4-2-2-2 formation, although will occasionally switch to a 4-1-2-1-2 or a 5-2-1-2.

Maccian Football Association's Squad For The World Cup 85 Qualifiers

Maccian Lamrejwaffeasosst Gang Ruhr Das Worden Koup 85 Kanzenguttim

Image

Brief Team Introduction

The Maccian squad of youngsters who were also criminals impressed during the Baptism of Fire 72, making it to the Round of 32 before losing 4-2 on penalties to Kohnhead. The Maccian squad who were at that tournament have since been granted freedom and many are coming back to play in the World Cup 85 Qualifiers. Each member of that squad was given a contract with the national team because of their surprisingly good performance in the Baptism of Fire, and 7 players have left the squad

The following players will not be playing in these World Cup Qualifiers: Missi Sorrentingerclausen, Mikkleargen Jamressl, Vilann Librastearpen, Regent Aryoirs, Lelepons Fluer, Trouz Vizalietd, Rianing Compratracken and Nícoloboiur Tilvovene. Masdipuetz Juesmann got 8 players from the semi-professional Maccian Football League to play in this squad, under the conditions that they will be paid handsomely as they would be missing work. Can the more experienced players mentor these youngsters and inspire them to greatness, or will this team have immense difficulty in playing as one team considering the big changes to the squad?

Nickname: The Riflemen

KPB Rank: 257

Manager: Angelo Gelinas, Age 48 from Quebec

Angelo Gelinas, in some ways, is the very definition of 'the balanced Quebecois' which, while sounding oxymoron, is plausible by any means. Earlier in his life, he had a very illustrious, well-celebrated career with Avenida Principal in Farfadillis and the Quebecois National Team, where he played a significant role as both their star forward (playing style: complete forward). His highest achievement as a player was his significant role in Quebecois NT's 2 quarterfinal finishes and a 4th place run in the World Cup, as well as making the Champions' Cup final for Avenida Principal.

Since his retirement, Gelinas moved onto a managerial career, where he steadily climbed up the ranks before being named the manager of Montreal Koreana, the most historic and winningest team in Quebec. There, on a club that needed an uptick in form from 3rd-6th finishing range, Gelinas managed to bring back the Koreana with 2 Q-League titles and 2 Coupe du Roi titles before continuing his career abroad with Marinos Metropolis. There, he led the longtime Valladar powerhouse to 2 mediocre league finishes (9th and 6th) in LFV, but have also won a King's Shield (Valladar FA Cup) and had 2 deep runs in the newfound IFCF. After his firing by the Marinos, he hopes to continue his managerial career with Maccian, a national team with high potential and balanced playing style he likes emphasising about.

As a manager, Gelinas is a guy who focuses on a balanced style of play with a typical Quebecois flair the game. With his famed work ethic dating back to his playing days with Avenida Principal, Gelinas expects all his players to be on top of a rigorous training regime and be clean with executions. That said, he's not a disciplinarian himself, and will turn blind eye to his players' off-turf antics, granted they perform well. Clearly, he is an accomplished manager who has won trophies and so will help this young Maccian side towards future greatness and prosperity. We only have the Supreme Leader to thank, because he is the one who negotiated this deal with Gelinas. Although his rigorous training regime could lead to a lot of injuries considering these are teenagers and young players still early in their careers. But we have no problem with being clean with executions, hell that's why we only hang people!

Stadium: New Lambridge , capacity of 16,389

Image

For all of Maccian's home games, the Riflemen will play at New Lambridge in the city of Jozytiannemen Square, formerly known as Audoti, Bisonua. New Lambridge is the largest football stadium in Maccian belonging to the Jozytiannemen Square Rifles, who play in the semi-professional Maccian Football League. Jozytiannemen Square is also the second most populous city in Maccian with a population of 4.74 million people, so home games are likely to be sold out. It is quite likely that a new stadium for international football will be built sometime in the foreseeable future, but for now, Maccian will have to settle with playing in a tiny stadium by other nation's standards.

Travel Information

Bisonua. The state with the highest birth rates, the lowest pollution, the most guns, and the lowest living costs. It is also the only state which has its own little sub-culture, while the rest of Maccian is pretty much the same throughout. Bisonuans are known for frequent partying, fighting, drinking excessively to the point of alcohol poisoning, and owning guns. Lots of guns. As in, casually carrying them on a trip to the supermarket. You must understand that Bisonua has the largest population out of all the 23 states, despite being relatively small.

The way they talk is distinctively different than the way Maccians talk. The majority of Maccians are respectful, friendly and talk in such a way that would make foreigners wonder if there are any people who are not in the upper class. This is much more prominent in the capital, New Aredia, or more specifically, Beneikkia Romendes. Well, most Maccians except Bisonuans, who are brash and may seem intimidating as first glance, considering all the confusing slang used almost exclusively by the youth. Speaking of younger Maccians, it would appear to foreigners that these youngsters are in gangs and participate in a whole host of crimes, but even though the young people do look intimidating, this is far from the truth. As long as you are respectful and kind, Maccians will have no problems with you.

Tourists that travel to Bisonua will find that the entire state is literally one gargantuan forest with even the large cities such as Jozytiannemen Square, Astauand, Misuxé, Souldrill and Tetroten looking like a utopia on Maccian. Jozytiannemen Square, in particular, has a medieval aesthetic, with tall skyscrapers hard to come by. Also, Jozytiannemen Square has one beach called "Woßol Bernam" which is always packed to the brim with people in the summer looking to sunbathe, play water sports or relax. Tourists who love nature will enjoy walking around pretty much any city as there is an emphasis on looking after the environment and the animals which inhabit it. The national animal of Maccian, the lamb, is able to frolic freely within Bisonua. It is illegal to harm or kill a lamb if the purpose of killing it is not for food. If tourists are caught harming these beautiful and pure creatures, they will be arrested, deported back to their nation, and put on a blacklist which prevents you from ever returning to Maccian.

When travelling across Bisonua, it is suggested to bring extra money for taxis. Why you may ask? Even though the public transport system in Maccian is being improved, it is quite frankly terrible. Buses and trains are small with there being very few seats available, so Maccians have to cram themselves into the bus. It is extremely uncomfortable to stand for a prolonged period of time when you are sandwiched between 6 people, and on top of that, the youth who are unable to drive cause too much trouble on the bus. It's not worth it, sticking a bunch of teenagers in cramped conditions and expecting them to be totally fine with it usually doesn't go too well. Maccian is attempting to remedy this though, with more funding to the Department of Transport so that they can fix the poor state that the public transport system is.

Tourists will be able to get a first-hand glimpse at what Maccians eat. Street vendors are scattered around Jozytiannemen Square which serve delicious food and drinks. For example, the 'Sarmorshar' which is a medium to medium-rare steak that is cut up and wrapped in puff pastry or the 'Moirlaiys' which is a small cardboard box of curly fries with macaroni and cheese and fried chicken coated in hot sauce. Pretty much all street vendors provide ginger beer as a beverage, but the twist is that the ginger beer is generally spicier than the food being served. The cuisine in Maccian is not for those who are intolerant of heat in their food, but there are some other options such as vegan burgers which oddly enough taste like a spicy piece of cardboard on a good day the real thing and is not too spicy. Ice cold water is provided with most Maccian meals so if you can't hack the intense heat of the food, at least you can alleviate some of the burning sensations in your mouth.

The police force is hit-or-miss. You may get good competent officers who will do their best to uphold the law and then you'll have incompetent officers who make you wonder who is in charge of recruitment for the police. If you are in need of an emergency service, call the number 888. Like its citizens, Maccian arms her officers so that they can best protect the public as well as their own and fellow officer's lives. The police are approachable and friendly so if you have any issues as a tourist or are lost, the police will be more than happy to give assist you in any way possible.

And last, of all, Maccians are tired of tourists pronouncing our name wrong. It is not "ma-si-uhn" or "mack-ee-uhn". Maccian is pronounced "mach-ee-uhn", or if the word "match" and the name "Ian" were merged together. Mispronouncing Maccian's name is almost a sure-fire way to get ridiculed or even beaten up. If we deem it as an attempt at mocking our government, we will execute you on the spot. Learn it right the first time and there will be no problems.

No criticism of the new South Toronton government will be permitted. Any foreigners caught breaking this rule will be subject to execution. You see nothing, you hear nothing, and you say nothing.

Boot It!: The Jags Return For WC85

Postby TJUN-ia » Mon May 18, 2020 7:28 am

Image

Name: TJUN-ia
Trigram: TJU
Football Association: FA-TJUN-ia
Nickname: Jaguars/Jags/Blue and Orange

Right then, here we go. Football is back and TJUN-ia is ready for a 2nd bite of the cherry. The Jaguars you saw in WC84 qualifying were rookies but managed to pull off good results to finish 6th in the 11-team group. Now with changes aplenty to what was normal back in 84, 85 is set up to be an interesting tournament for the 105th ranked Jags.

TEAM

David Seems is back in the spotlight of the football world, after missing IAC9 in HUElavia for tactical reasons. He's been drawing up tactics for this tournament for a while now and thinks he might have a good system to work with. His new assistant manager, Li Xiu Ying, did very well in HUElavia, taking the Jags to the Quarterfinals after winning their group. The hope is that the data from IAC9 can be used in order to perfect the system Seems is building.

You may see a few familiar faces from another team. It has been a while now since FA-TJUN-ia decided to give the players from the former nation of Galar TJUN-ian citizenship in order to play with the national team. So far the experiment has been a success, but questions on squad size remain. Should the squad be as big as it is, or do we need to cut a few players in order to maintain balance? With no league system set up in the International Community as of right now, these players might be the best thing we have. With both new vice-captain Harold Gylfisson and captain Jeff Donaldson finding their feet in Schottia's SPL, the question as to where the others can go is starting to float within the TJUN-ian media.

KITS
ImageImageImage

For the first time in the history of TJUN-ian sports, a kit supplier has produced a kit for a team from this nation. Filindostan's No Nonsense Sportswear, or NNS for short, has produced the kits for FA-TJUN-ia with the image of the Jaguars in mind. The home kit is a resemblance of the flag with the idea of "Blue and Orange" engraved into its soul. The away kit is an inverse of the home one and provides a unique look into the future of TJUN-ian design. The GK kit, nicknamed as "the Bumblebee", will provide contrast to the other kits while keeping the identity of the International Community in mind.

STADIUMS
You saw that right: Stadiums. FA-TJUN-ia doesn't want all the home games to be at the National Stadium in TJUN-ia City, so an agreement has been reached between the body and the Governments of both the CSTO and CEA Zones which allows for half of the Blue and Orange's home fixtures to be played outside of the JagBase. This will mark the first time ever in the history of the International Community that an international sporting event has taken place outside of the JagBase.

Stadium: National Stadium
Location: TJUN-ia City, JB TJUN-ia
Capacity: 74,000
Image

Of course, we will still use these hallowed halls. The National Stadium was the home of the Jags for WC84 qualifying and produced some good moments. The Stadium, however, also doubles as an athletic venue for national championships so it's not the perfect venue for football. FA-TJUN-ia is based here, not far from the city centre. Crowds here are usually welcoming to their opponents unless rumours of foul play start to emerge. Half of the Jaguars' home matches for WC85 will be played here.

Stadium: Beregozera Stadium
Location: Szensky, CSTO Zone
Capacity: 81,000
Image

Meaning "the lakeside" stadium, Beregozera mainly hosts football but can be used for other regional sporting events. Its football configuration means it will be the largest stadium in TJUN-ia for this tournament. The fans here are known for being very passionate about the game and will try and intimidate their opponents by using the infamous Krasnaya Stena - the Red Wall, TJUN-ia's closest thing to an ultras group.

Stadium: Tiankong Stadium
Location: Tiankong, CEA Zone
Capacity: 57,000
Image

Built for the 1st CEA Games, this stadium also doubles as an athletic venue. It's the smallest stadium in use but that doesn't mean anything to the people of Tiankong. They love this stadium and they will fill it up no matter what event is on. The fans do watch the game respectfully but can get loud when chanting for their team.

TEAM CASSADAIGUA- World Cup 85

Coach- Stephanie Sweeney (58)- 8th World Cup
By getting Cassadiagua to qualify for World Cup 81, Stephanie was able to silence most of her doubters that were not impressed with the effort in World Cup 80. After World Cup 81, Cassadaigua has only continued to progress further and get closer to the dream of a third title. Therefore, Stephanie has completely safe job security at this time.

Assistant- Hannah Shanley (34)
Starting defender from World Cups 80-83, and then served as a regular substitute in World Cup 84. Still active as a player, for now, at the domestic level. Getting some experience at this level and working with the senior team as she has expressed an interest in coaching going further.

Starters in Green
Subs in Blue
Reserves in Red

Goalkeepers:
#31- Kelsey Morgan (33)- Starter WC 83 & 84, Sub WC 81 & 82, Reserve WC 80 & CR 30-31, Starter in DBC 41 & 42, Sub CR 29
#21- Tiffany Nelson (27)- Reserve WC 83 & 84, Starter DBC 44 & CR 34
#41- Danielle Cotter (22)- Starter DBC 47, CR 34

Heading into this campaign, there was a lot of question as to who would be the starting goalkeeper for this World Cup. Morgan is getting a little older and Tiffany Nelson would seem to be in the prime of her career. Therefore, the team underwent an intense evaluation period of them, using the Copa Rushmori, Wonder Cup, and then seven friendlies to determine who was on better form. Both played well, but Morgan did enough to maintain her job as the starting keeper.

Defenders:
#22- Lupe Enriquez (31) (Busukuma AC, Banija)- Starter in WC 81-84, DBC 41, CR 29-34, Starter & Captain DBC 42, Sub WC 79 & 80
#3- Brooke Sutter (27)- Starter & Captain DBC 44, Starter WC 84, SWC 6, DBC 43 & CR 34, Reserve CR 31, WC 82 & 83
#6- Kimberly Carson (27)- Starter WC 84, DBC 43, CR 34
#4- Katie Standish (23)- Reserve DBC 44 & CR 34

#2- Michelle Graves (22)- Starter DBC 47 & Sub CR 34
#29- Matthew Donegal (29)- Starter WC 84, Sub WC 82 & 83, Reserve WC 81, Starter DBC 43, BPC

#24- Sierra Swift (22)- Starter DBC 47
#36- Ashley Crocker (33)- Sub WC 84, Starter in WC 82 & 83, Di Bradini 41 & CR 29, Sub WC 80 & 81, Reserve CR 31

This group sees two new starters, as both Carson and Standish move into the regular lineup. They won these positions due to great play in the evaluation games, and will be sporting new kit numbers for the first time. There are some lower digits available on our team still, after all, and these numbers certainly show Sweeney’s confidence in them. Matthew Donegal not remaining in the starting lineup is noteworthy, but he did not perform that well in the evaluation games. Ashley Crocker had to give up her number “6". She works hard still, but is showing some signs of age. Hannah Shanley not making the team is notable, and she will serve as an assistant coach.

Midfielders:
#23- Sierra Mattison (33)- Starter WC 80-84, CR 30; Starter Di Bradini 41 & CR 29 *** CAPTAIN (1st time) ***
#8- Shelby Martin (33)- Starter WC 80-84, CR 30; Starter Di Bradini 41 & CR 29
#9- Zack Pierce (29)- Starter WC 81-84, CR 34 (Captain), BPC, DBC 42, Reserve WC 80
#16- Meghan Wolcott (25) (Herzegovina City FC, Banija)- Starter WC 84, CR 34, DBC 44

#19- Preston Newfeld (25)- Sub WC 84, Starter CR 34 & DBC 44
#25- Emma McKee (31)- Reserve WC 79 & 80, Starter DBC 41, CR 29, Sub WC 81-84, CR 30 & 34

#32- Courtney Graham (23)- Reserve WC 84, Starter CR 34
#34- Danielle Porter (23)- Reserve WC 84, Sub CR 34

For now, this is a position with complete stability. Both Mattison and Martin are playing at a high level, so there is no concern about their age. Mattison is the team’s specialist on corner kick delivery, excelling in this role ever since she put on the Cassadagan uniform for the first time. Zack Pierce made history in the Copa Rushmori recently, becoming the first male captain of a soccer team, and second overall male captain of any sporting team that was not gender exclusive. He plays an important role for this team, but the most excitement from the team centers around Meghan Wolcott as she enters the prime of her career and after playing domestically in Banija these days for one of the top teams in that nation. While extremely talented, she is also known to have a lot of swagger.

Forwards:
#71- Rachel Schanke (25)- (Granddaughter of Jessica, who #17 is retired for. Hence the #71)- Starter WC 84 & DBC 44, SWC 6, Sub DBC 43 & WC 83, Reserve WC 81, CR 30
#26- Eddie Malone (30)- Sub WC 81 & 84, Reserve WC 82, Starter BPC

#12- Ashley Dahlin (29)- Starter DBC 44, Reserve WC 83, Sub CR 34
#27- Madison McClain (23)- Sub WC 84, Starter CR 34

#28- Loreen Hazen (21)- Sub DBC 47
#38- Taylor Russo (22)- Reserve WC 84, Sub CR 34

Hannah Ranucci, who solidified a spot as our top forward from World Cups 78-84 as well as being a long time captain, has moved on. Her #33 will join the wall of honorees during the qualification period as no one will ever wear that kit number again. When it happens, it will be the first number to be retired since our return to international competition. For now, she is enjoying her retirement, but may go into coaching one day. Finding her replacement was a long and drawn out process. Logically, Ashley Dahlin was next in line, but players have to gel, and for some reason Schanke and Dahlin have not been able to do that as well. They have tried and get along just fine, but you can’t force something that just doesn’t seem to be there. Madison McClain seemed be after Dahlin in line, but it would be Eddie Malone, who’s been on the team before, showing the best chemistry with Schanke over the evaluation period. So, for now, he has been declared the starter alongside her. Deep down, yes, coach Sweeney would rather see Ashley Dahlin there, and you can still expect Ashley to see quite a bit of playing time.

Team Info:
Style Mod: +2
Formation: 4-4-2
People from Cassadaigua are referred to as Cassadagans.
Team nickname: Fillies. Also, we are commonly referred to as the Dagans

Home Stadium & City information:
Dagan Airways Stadium (Capacity: 83,000), Concord Heights

Concord Heights is the capital of Cassadaigua and hosted many international championships in the past (and even the title game of WC 84). This includes the World Cup, as well as several editions of the World Baseball Classic. The city, which is also the most populous in the country, has a lot that one can do, whether sports themed, or not. Chances are, you are coming here for sports, so feel free to visit the Cassadaigua National Sports Hall of Fame. Here you will learn the stories of the legends of Cassadagan sport, including those who have their numbers retired from the soccer team on monument wall in the north end zone of the stadium (the concept here is like Monument Park at Yankee Stadium). While at the Hall of Fame, you can also learn about other Cassadagan legends and earn new or greater appreciation for those who helped us become the first nation to win a title in the five greatest sports in the World.

Those wishing to do something non-sports themed can find additional museums across the city, including the national museum which pays homage to the past leaders of the nation. You can also take a guided tour of the grounds of the Palace itself where the Queen resides, though access to the Palace itself is not open to public. The city is also home to prestigious learning institutions, such as the University of Concord Heights, and Concord Heights Beauty School (because looking good is important too).

Hand out red cards to my players: Yes, no more then one more then you give yourself.

Pandemic RP Note: While I fully respect the right of everyone to RP their nation as they see fit, and that includes whether or not they want to RP a pandemic, please be aware that I will not be interacting with any such RP. Being affected by it in real life (on unemployment with two young ones), this is an escape for me from that reality. If I choose to acknowledge an opponent’s possible pandemic RP, I will simply say that your nation is overreacting to the flu. More then likely though, I will just not do a dedicated match report for that matchup.
