Oh, this is just too good. They claim to hate socialism, and yet they enact socialist labor policies. I love it. Traditional socialists fear automation. I am reminded of the story of an American staying in China being shown the build site that would become a new road network. Instead of utilizing a heavy machinery fleet to shift the soil and stones, swarms of laborers were using shovels.

Not steam shovels. Fucking shovels.

He asked why, and his Chinese hosts explained it was to give work to as many Chinese laborers as possible. If they used the trucks and heavy lifting equipment used in other countries, it would hurt the people by reducing the requirement for laborers.

His response was to ask why they did not create even more jobs by taking away the shovels, and making the laborers dig with spoons.

QUEZON CITY, PALMYRION | 14 persons were arrested in a Quezon City, Greater Aragon apartment block after an intense standoff between police officers of the Civil Defense Force and Palmyrian National Police against the suspects. This was after a shootout that killed two of the original 16 persons and wounded one police officer.

A search of their apartment residences yielded several one-pound bars of military-grade high explosives, as well as related bomb-making paraphernalia including detonation cords, detonator devices, and fuses. Arsonists Torch Portion of Experimental Crop Field, Eliminated by Security

LOS BANOS, LAGUNA, PALMYRION | A group of four men torched nearly sixteen plots of the experimental crop field of the Palmyrian Agro-Industrial Development Institute before being fatally eliminated by site security before they managed to cause more damage.

The chief of local security, whose name has been hidden for the guards' operational security, said that the harder part in responding to the emergency was to contain the fire after the attacking arsonists were lethally eliminated by site security. The killed assailants have been identified and their alleged ties and interests to The Next War manifesto and "Camarade Le Dragon" are being investigated.

Well, they did @May-May_Lavoie. While we're going the other way and integrating automation into our economy; we wish to reap its benefits (increased aggregate labor force productivity) while mitigating its risks (massive job displacement). Though, there are other jobs that automation can't replace for now, like the hospitality industry (AI can't really realistically simulate human emotion and empathy, and if it does, it falls all the way into the uncanny valley). In the healthcare industry I suggest that robots, automation, and AI would be used to supplement doctors, surgeons, and nurses instead of supplanting them. Automation will happen no matter what; it doesn't matter how low or high of a minimum wage you set, or what working conditions you provide. If you want me to go even further to hire even more workers, then let's just make them dig with their bare hands. That'll teach them.

Also, @realLeDragon's ideology stinks like hell. It's caused aronists to torch an experimental crop field in Los Baños, Makiling; we have terrified students and scientists from UPLB and the Palmyrian Agro-Industrial Development Institute cowering in fear now and under heavy PNP and CDF supervision. Now, the government better prep for urban terrorists and guerrillas; I would recommend Out of the Mountains: The Coming Age of the Urban Guerrilla by David Kilcullen as a good read for this (and Palmyrian soldiers are expected to study a lot about warfare - this includes the sociocultural ethnolingustic identity and norms of their AO).

Drive-By Shooters Terrorise Neighbourhood Clinic

CITY OF CAVITE, PALMYRION | A neighbourhood clinic in Tanza District, Cavite City was struck by a drive-by shooting incident at 10:17AM today, 21 October 2019.

Eyewitness narratives spoke of a black SUV with Christian markings pulling up to the front of the neighbourhood clinic, after which the SUV's occupants, armed with assault rifles, briefly alighted from the vehicle to open fire on the clinic, and pulling away after each shooter expended at least one magazine; CCTV footage recovered from the clinic and nearby buildings confirm the eyewitness narratives.

Responding units of the Palmyrian National Police and the Civil Defence Force count 9 killed and 16 wounded from the shooting. The casualties were taken to a city hospital not far from the crime scene. Authorities suspect the shooting to be motivated by the Commonwealth's reproductive healthcare programme, which is seen by the Christian far-right of Palmyrion as "an affront to God's will", at least according to a manifesto recovered in the crime scene.

The PNP and the CDF have been placed in high alert due to an increased spate in extremist terror attacks in recent days.

Severed Head Found Left at Palmyrian University

QUEZON CITY, PALMYRION | The severed head of a prominent progressivist Islam activist has been found left at the steps of Palmares Hall in the University of Palmyrion Diliman campus this morning, 6:22 AM.

Civil Defence Force and the Palmyrian National Police contingents stationed within the campus were alerted to the severed head after a morning jogger investigated what he claimed was "a suspicious, blood-stained cardboard box left at the Palmares Hall". Responding CDF and PNP units immediately arrived on scene 5 minutes later and recovered the severed head, which has been transported to the morgue of the Campus Health Service.

Police were able to identify the head as that of Omar Ibrahim al-Khatifa, a prominent Progressivist Islam activist from the island of Sultan Osmalik. Mr. al-Khatifa transferred to Quezon City to take a Bachelor of Science course in Economics in the said university.

Along with the severed head was an Arabic language message written on a separate cardboard sheet, with an English language translation at the flip side saying "PROGRESSIVISM IS AN AFFRONT TO ALLAH. ALL PROGRESSIVES MUST BE BUTCHERED. ALLAHU AKBAR".

We're totally fine here, @幽霧霊. Just a normal spate of terror attacks against progressives - atheists, humanists, progressivist sects of religions. The usual perpetrators are religious conservatives who want Palmyrion turned into a Christian or Muslim theocracy.

We're even receiving reports from various campus police units that university-based Christian and Muslim activist organisations are linked to the recent spate of scare attacks, but I call this tenuous considering that the closest thing they've done is to be counterprotestors in university-based pride parades, set up human roadblocks to campus health service centres (which provide reproductive healthcare goods and services) and act as door-to-door proselytizers.

Though, I haven't seen a spate like this lasting beyond June 29, and it would usually only warrant Palmyrion going to DEFCON 4 - but with the recent assassination of our former monarch (since then succeeded by his spouse) and a lesbian activist being killed by an anthrax-laced letter, we had to escalate it to DEFCON 3. MAN-PORTABLE NUCLEAR DEVICE, NERVE GAS SEIZED IN SF RAID; DEFCON 2 MULLED

Lipa City, Batangas Province: A joint raid by the Palmyrian Army's Raider Battlegroup and the Civil Defence Force's Special Action Force have managed to recover a single man-portable nuclear weapon and almost one hundred (100) kilogrammes of VX nerve gas during an early morning raid in Lipa City, Batangas province.

The raid occurred in the dead hours of dawn, at 3:00-3:30AM on the 29th of October 2019. Special forces units were alerted to a possible black market weapons exchange in Lipa City, Batangas Province; local intelligence units subsequently investigated the matter and upon confirmation of the exchange, a raid was planned. 107 Raider Regiment collaborated with the 45th CDF-SAF Battalion to carry out the raid at the harbor area of Lipa City. A firefight ensued on 3:10AM between the special forces units and the arms deal's security detail; the Armed Forces of Palmyrion specified in a press release that the raiding unit was most possibly outnumbered 4-to-1, which necessitated the deployment of regular Army and Civil Defence Force units in the area to assist in the raid, in addition to the cordon set-up minutes prior to the raid.

Seized from the hands of the arms dealers were several crates of firearms (mostly assault rifles, light and medium machine guns, handguns, and sniper rifles), several kilogrammes of explosives and several pieces of components for explosive devices, and most notably, a Soviet-model atomic demolition munition and several kilogrammes of VX nerve gas. Among the suspects eliminated or captured were Homer Agnas (KIA), a student of Ateneo de Batangas and a member of conservative university Christian activist group Salvation Nation (specifically its Batangas chapter), and Pastor Henry Vallesteros, a newly-ordained pastor of the newly-formed Batangas Restorationist Church in Lipa City.

In light of the seizures of the atomic demolition munition and the VX nerve gas, the Department of National Defense and the National Security Council have proposed raising Palmyrion's alert levels to DEFCON 2. Salvation Nation and the Batangas Restorationist Church have yet to speak on the matter.
