Because if you don't give people the right to be represented by government, or the right to air their views publically, they will still do so privately. Without proper representation of these views and debating them fairly, they will spread unchallenged as alienation from the governments policy grows.
You'll see the rise of violence against migrants, since populations feel the government will not apply the rule of law to them, and that they cannot protest this.
If you want to see how counter productive your policy is, take a look at the decline of feminism and the spread of MRM principles, or the rise of the far-right in europe.
It's a result of the establishment refusing to engage in good faith on these topics, and resorting to demonization and censorship.
When you provide the establishment the tools of censorship, you calcify the discussion and prevent it actually being in tune with the perspectives, needs, and desires of the populace, since you provide establishment figures the means to demonize any statements contrary to their narrative. It's auto-conservative in practice, since it gives the power to determine the narrative to people who hold sway over the media and institutions of power, and thus tends toward representing the upper middle classes (mis)understanding of social problems.
In combination with demonization and ejecting these topics from discussion from mainstream politics, you leave the far-right as the only game in town actually able to connect with the general public.
We've seen this in europe with the rise of Pegida, the Swedish Democrats, Front Nationale, Freedom Party, and UKIP.
In the US, Trump represents the pheneomanae.
The longer the establishments understanding is calcified, the worse the problem seems to be getting. Especially as the establishment also goes out of its way to portray minorities as in agreement with the set of policies. That will have extremely damaging effects on race relations if it's believed to be true.

The unitary state ensured republican values of liberty, equality and fraternity could be successfully disseminated across France, while a republic ensured popular sovereignty lay with the people and not a monarch. Unfortunately she was an enemy of the revolution.
Unity to GET THEIR FREAKING HEADS CUT OFF FOR DISAGREEING!
Not to mention the excessive corruption... but I guess that's a French thing.

I prefer to adapt the climate to me.
For instance I hate the cold, so I buy tons of coal and burn it while no one is looking.
