Your gonna have to prove the Bible is a lie.

Claiming that certain parts of the Bible (*cough OLD TESTAMENT cough*) are mean and show what seems like a heartless God, I can live with that. but the Bible, itself, isn't a lie. There have been certain parts of it that have a true historical basis.

Oh... you're NOT joking.... [blush]

I see no proof there.

1. God didn't write the Bible. Human beings did. Human beings have never seen God or truly heard His voice, because he does not exist. The Bible was written to control the thought of primitive desert dwellers. Therefore, God does not exist.
2. I also know that God does not exist because, well, I can't feel that he exists, and I've never felt that he exists.
3. Everything comes from something, but that something doesn't have to be a god of course.
4. David Copperfield, David Blaine and any other magician you can name are miracle workers by the standard kept in the Bible. Every modern attempt to assert a recent miracle has proven that the Church is trying to drum up interest in an increasingly uninterested populace, a natural phenomenon such as rusty water dripping down the face of a statue from a leaky roof, a case of mental illness, or a childish prank. Just because something was written down over 2000 years ago in a foreign language you can't read, doesn't make it true. Take Harry Potter and lock the books up for 2000 years. Will they then become true?
5. If you are a modern scientist and try to explain to a group of primitive desert dwellers how science believe the universe was created, what are they going to understand? The Big Bang theory and all its logical repurcussions? How celestial mechanics work? What the Bible says about Creation is that this happened, then that happened, and by and large, it is a logical progression of what needed to happen before human life could arise. Any early explanation that came close to explaining the light being separated from the darkness, ie the primordial soup of the early universe transforming into clumps that became bright stars, and spaces that became the dark void, is either luck, or evidence of contact with a more advanced civilization. Scientists are fairly certain that the universe is expanding, and yet there are several theories as to how it all began. Big Bang even ALLOWS the existence of a creator god, because no known process could have done the job. But even THIS most pro-religion position of science is not proof of god, only proof of our ignorance. I don't believe what is written in holy books can be interpreted as fact BECAUSE they are written in holy books, and serve to guide and control the thought and belief of those reading them, rather than to enlighten or educate the reader. Therefore I know that God didn't create everything. Why? Because it's written in the holy book itself!

Please forgive any humourous use of circular reasoning - I hope you can see that this is an allusion to the style of the original post. My arguments are otherwise sound.

And, just to reiterate, there is no proof of god here.

What did God do in response to the Tower of Babel? Made people incapable of understanding each other. In that light, consider 1337 and txtspk.

Certainly not very reliable, but the history parts of the Old Testament have value as a point of view on the politics of the Late Bronze and Early Iron Age Middle East. The Assyrians, Egyptians, Babylonians, Persians all get mentioned an no one disputes their existence. But the mythological parts, such as the creation of the world and of early people, are just that, mythology.

No.
The Bible makes some claims - without supporting it with facts or peer review.
Some of these claims have been ALREADY shown to be false. Hence, some parts of the Bible are false. Hence it's not reliable.

Prove that the Bible is true. Because you're claiming that.
