It is a mockery of Christianity, and I'm glad someone realizes it. Now i'm not saying these people should've been beaten up, that's a little much, but I also don't believe the 'Flying Spaghetti Monster' should be recognized as a real deity, nor 'Pastafarianism' as a religion. I know a guy who pretended to be a member of the FSM Church, wore a colander on his head to the DMV, and sued them when they wouldn't let him take his driver's license picture with a colander on his head because it was his "religious headgear".

Naturally, the ACLU loved the idea, and gave him a lawyer.

Hey, if you insult a large group of people by mocking their beliefs, you really should expect to get punched in the face by one of them. The Lower House of the Russian parliament has approved a controversial bill which criminalizes insulting people's religious feelings. It could come into effect as early as July if passed by the Upper House and the President.

In the current version of the bill, insulting religious feelings in public can be punished with up to three years in prison. Other possible sanctions include fines up to half a million roubles (about $15,600) and compulsory correctional work.

Also, I know many atheists who are in agreement. Though not to their same degree, some atheists are just as bad as our Westboro Baptist Church. Honestly, instead of mocking some of the lessons religion teaches (not that shit man manipulates religion into teaching) and follow them? Loving one another? Helping one another? That's all it really does say. I mean, seriously. A sensible person could decode any religious text and find the message to be truly the same, however, no 'pure' religious text likely exists in our industrialized world.

One can have two first languages. And if you would've followed the entirety of my post, you'd comprehend that it was in response to someone taking off a line from Wikipedia, and pretending to know Russian Law.

Yes he was. You have a Right to Assembly, but you need to get a permit for that, because we don't want people protesting during peak traffic hours, on the streets of Moscow, or end up in a similar situation.

Typicall western sensationalism. Not a word about "Пастный Ход" in other Russian cities (becouse, hey, who is interested in smth that was peacefull and went without a hitch, like Saint-Pete Pasta-Rally). Moscow police and orthodox fanatics overreacted - but surely this "crackdown" or "attack" was nothing like HuffPo article pictures it. The Pastafarian rally in Russia on August 17th began in a light-hearted manner, as members of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster took to the streets of Moscow wearing strainers on their heads and carrying various types of pasta to celebrate the tenets of their faith.

However, the day quickly took a dark turn, as members of a Russian Orthodox group as well as the police physically attacked the group, knocking some to the ground and verbally harassing them. Eight Pastafarians were detained and charged with organizing an unsanctioned rally.

There are a reported 15,000 members of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster in Russia.

The rally and march was planned to celebrate the recent submission of an appeal to be recognized as a legitimate religion in Russia. The invitation on the group's website said:

To celebrate the creation of the first religious group of the Pastafarian Church of Russia, the bishops, lay people and followers of the Flying Spaghetti Monster are invited to walk through the main streets and squares of the cities and villages of joyful praise for spaghetti and meatballs.

However, not everyone feels so joyful about the recognition of the Pastafarian Church, particularly members of the Orthodox group God's Will, who told Utro that "glorification of the Great Flying Spaghetti Monster offends their religious feelings.” Dmitry Enteo, the founder of God's Will, posted on Twitter that "Pastafarianism is a blasphemous smear against Christianity," according to NBC.

The ensuing video shows members of the police chasing Pastafarians through the streets, who can be recognized by the strainers on their heads.

One day in the future, when the logic of the non-religious prevails and atheists become the majority, some guys that claim to be peaceful atheists are going to beat the shit out of some christians parading around trying to tell the atheists that the atheists are stupid for not believing in what they believe.
