Sanger and the eugenics movement sought out black ministers to support their efforts to eliminate the physically and mentally deficient. Of course they got to decide who was physically or mentally deficient. Ultimately "morally" deficient was good enough to get sterilized by these people. The really were an early version of a "death panel". The Supreme Court even upheld forced sterilization for several decades. What happened in Germany though caused many to "evolve" their opinion on eugenics.
But back to DuBois. DuBois said the black church was open to "intelligent propaganda of any sort, and the American Birth Control League and other agencies ought to get their speakers before church congregations and their arguments in the Negro newspapers."
DuBois also had certain negative opinions about his fellow black Americans in “Black Folk and Birth Control” he wrote “inevitable clash of ideals between those Negroes who were striving to improve their economic position and those whose religious faith made the limitation of children a sin.” He criticized the “mass of ignorant Negroes” who bred “carelessly and disastrously so that the increase among [them] ... is from that part of the population least intelligent and fit, and least able to rear their children properly.
This view led him to join with the eugenics movement.
I've got info about how then Nazis admired Sanger's Birth Control League (PP today) if you want it. I've got meetings between Nazis and members of her board. Lothrop Stoddard for example, he went to Germany and saw first hand how they were "weeding out the worst strains in the Germanic stock in a scientific and truly humanitarian way." Stoddard's work was even included in some Nazi school textbooks.
I don't care if whether you believe it or not. The truth doesn't require a consensus.

however I find this law is extreme and pointless. Life begins the minute the egg is fertilized, not 24 hours before (wtf?) And its stupid laws like these that take legitimacy from the real issue of executing unborn children...

Detoqueville wrote:Planned Parenthood characterizes the law in the extreme manner you claim. No objective source is presented to back up your point. Further Planned Parenthood makes money off abortions so any limitation is a hit to their bottom line. "Protecting women's rights" is at best partially the reason PP opposes the bill. A cynic would say that the primary opposition to the law is making money off of abortions.
Are you aware that the founder of PP, Margret Sanger, was a horrific racist and believer in eugenics? It's interesting history if you care to learn it. Turns out she spoke to Klan rallies. True story.
