So, basically the black community was conservative, and thus was naturally anti-abortion. Thus, organizations such as the American Birth Control League needed to reach out to them using black figures. How is this bad?

Planned Parenthood characterizes the law in the extreme manner you claim. No objective source is presented to back up your point. Further Planned Parenthood makes money off abortions so any limitation is a hit to their bottom line. "Protecting women's rights" is at best partially the reason PP opposes the bill. A cynic would say that the primary opposition to the law is making money off of abortions.
