PLAYOFF STADIA

Crown Bowl (Athenstoft) -- Seating 24,500, the Crown Bowl is the famous home of the Touffer University amfootball team. T.U. home games have been routinely sold out for years, and it is expected that standing-room-only tickets will be necessary for World Bowl games. The Crown Bowl is also notable for being one of the most sleek, colorful stadiums in the country; it is well-decorated with the traditional T.U. purple and brown.

Lion Cage (Portsdan) -- This 56,000-seat stadium is the second-largest in the nation, and the home of NAL Northern Conference champions the Portsdan Lions. The Lion Cage was the site of the first Grand Bowl; it is well-equipped to handle large, capacity crowds. Some say the Lion Cage is slightly outdated, but all the facilities are reliable and capable of hosting World Bowl matches.

Citywide Stadium (Thugfield) -- This stadium is the only notable sports arena in Thugfield, with 47,525 seats. Thugfield is a very economically downtrodden city in the southwest; the powerful Thugfield Crush, which had the best record in the NAL Southern Conference during the regular season, are the pride and joy of the citizens. Citywide Stadium is publicly owned, and unfortunately the city has been unable to improve some of the facilities, so this will be one of the more uncomfortable places to play and watch.

ChocoMilk Amfootball Arena (Bartewick) -- This is the largest stadium in the country at 57,500 seats. It's located along the Bay of Mork in western Bartewick. ChocoMilk Arena is the home of the Bartewick Patriots, the defending Grand Bowl champions. What stands out on the field are the bright red end zones and the blue and red seats, highlighting the team's colors.

Walworth Field (Trewich) -- The home of the Trewich Warriors, Walworth Field seats 45,000 fans. When it's not amfootball season, Walworth is used as a community center, including as a training center for top athletes and as a playsite for the underprivileged. Because of the constant use, Walworth employs great year-round sanitation services, meaning whoever plays here will find themselves using very clean facilities.

West Side Amfootball Arena (Briarshaw) -- With 42,100 seats, this is the home of the Briarshaw Blizzard. There's nothing particularly special about the WSAA; it's gained national fame for its famous scenes of NAL games being played on the snow-covered turf. Briarshaw is the coldest city in the country, but meteorologists do not predict particularly cool weather during the World Bowl.

Yesopalitha Flames National Gridiron Football Team

Image
Courtesy of TGT Design

Colors: Black and red
Home Stadium: The Sacred Heart, Freedom's Altar, Yesopalitha (Cap. 144,000)

Coaching Staff
Head Coach - Jack Chelak
Human, 38, 200lbs, 6ft, Male
Chelak's interesting style of coaching led the Flames to the knockout rounds in their first foray into the World Bowl. He will be expected to at least make it to the quarterfinals this time around, but that may not be as easy as all the fans are expecting it to be. With the most diverse national team left in Yesopalitha, making sure all the species and players work together for a greater whole will be the hurdle awaiting to be cleared by Chelak and his staff.

Assistant Coach - Nick Willenhem
Human, 32, 195lbs, 5ft 11in, Male
If Chelak is the laid-back mastermind, Willenhem is the drill sergeant. Underneath his rough style of coaching, though, he has a teacher's heart and wishes to better his players to be the best players that they can possibly be. He demands respect but gives plenty of it back in return. Chelak and he make a great coaching combination, and the players soak up the tandem that they are.

Style Modifier, RP Permissions, and Other Info
Style Modifier: -1.41 The team relies on defense more than offense, for the offense gains yards in bunches. At times, though, the defense can only take so much before breaking down.
Choose My Scorers: I'd rather you didn't. Just say "The other side responded with a passing touchdown" or something like that. I will normally RP regularly, and prefer to actually choose who scores for the sake of my storyline.
Injure My Players: You can. If you have a blowout win over me, I'd prefer if you made it so that my starting QB got injured or something. The duration of their injury is subject to be changed by me, though.
Penalize My Players: There won't be many personal fouls or unnecessary roughness penalties committed by my players. Silly procedural penalties, pass interference, holding, etc., though, are open to be used.
Godmod Anything At All: No.
RP Note: Please follow what I write down as offensive tendencies/defending tendencies/descriptions of players. I'd prefer that you follow them, so that our RPing doesn't clash.

Offensive Starters
Coordinator: Victoria Wells
Human, 26, 140lbs, 5ft 6in, Female
A brilliant strategist, her biggest strength is her willingness to adapt mid-game and try new things specifically designed to hopefully take down the other team's defense. There were scoffers who stated that a woman couldn't handle this job, but Wells has proved them wrong time and time again, and continues to do so.

Offensive Tendencies
This time, Wells has decided to give the offense to the hands of Sandil Ren. The Flames will use more of a three-wide, one-back, one tight end/fullback formation, and look to spread the ball down the field. Timely draws and inside runs will keep the defense honest, but the team will live and die at the hands of Sandil Ren. The Wraith looks more than ready to take responsibility.

Quarterback: #8 Sandil Ren - Captain
Wraith, 204, 130lbs, 5ft 10in, Male
The Wraith Quarterback of the Freedom's Altar Holy Templars is hungry to prove that he can handle the game being in his hands. He has been playing football for over one hundred and eighty years, and has seen many schemes come and go. Rumor has it that he has been installing some great audibles into the offense so that he can truly take over the game.

Running Back: #25 Nao'ren Isildil
Werewolf, 24, 220lbs, 6ft 1in, Male
The South Hampton Lions Running Back has a peculiar running style - bowl-em over, create separation, then turn on the jets and leave them in the dust. Used to the no-fullback system of the Lions, he can do some damage even without a blocker in front of him, and breaking tackles is his specialty.

Wide Receiver: #84 Joshua Ittenheim
Vampire, 23, 185lbs, 5ft 10in, Male
The "Go" receiver, Ittenheim has pure speed and can shake defenders. He's not very good at running routes, but he is good at going deep. Ren and he have developed an unspoken bond and worked on timing on their connections. If the Flames have a bomb that ends up as a touchdown, it was caught by Ittenheim. For a Vampire, he is very young, but he is eager to learn, and spends countless hours practicing and watching film. Chelak calls him a "true gym rat who would be devastated if the national team gym caught on fire".

Wide Receiver: #83 Anone Unheim
Human, 24, 190lbs, 5ft 11in, Male
Unheim is more of a route runner, working his magic in the right side of the field, opposite Ittenheim. Anone is a scholar, and has read so many books about football that he is more knowledgeable than Wells herself when it comes to terminology. On the field, he is a technical master who might not be a natural at his position, but has developed the skills required to have a spot on the national team.

Wide Receiver: #88 Harold Newman
Human, 25, 190lbs, 6ft 5in, Male
The middle receiver, Newman is a tree among this bunch. He is tall, and he has hands of glue. He might not be fast, but his length and agility mean that any ball that is thrown near him will get caught. Acrobatic catches are his forte, but put a speedy corner on him and he is pretty much neutralized.

Tight End/Fullback: #30 Chip Newman
Human, 23, 260lbs, 5ft 8in, Male
Straight from Freedom's Altar University, Newman earned this spot in training camp, impressing the eyes of Chelak by his versatility, route-running skills, and blocking abilities. In this scheme of the Flames, he will be asked to set the edge on blocking in one play, then run-block for Isildil the next play. A man must be intelligent to keep track of all that, and Newman has showed that he can.

Left Guard: #71 Thomas Anderson
Human, 28, 300lbs, 5ft 9in, Male
A fabulous pass-blocker, Anderson is not that great at run blocking. He can handle a pass-rusher coming around the edge, but a linebacker or a safety making a beeline for the quarterback can be too much for him to handle. He may be the weakest part of what is a great Flames line.

Left Tackle: #60 Gamek Itta
Dwarf, 54, 275lbs, 5ft 1in, Male
Itta is the best run-blocker on the team, for the low man wins in blocking, and there aren't many shorter players than Itta. He also has supreme balance that comes with being a dwarf. With Anderson handling pass-blocking and Itta taking care of run-blocking, the left side of the line balances itself out.

Center: #72 Rocky Telmar
Human, 23, 325lbs, 6ft 3in, Male
The highly anticipated center is finally here! One of the greatest players to come out of Freedom's Altar University, Rocky Telmar has seamlessly transitioned to the national team, taking the place of Isaac Larson, who had to retire from football following a family tragedy. Telmar is smart, he has one of the greatest work ethics around, and he has the ability to call all the offensive line audibles that come with Sandil's offensive audibles, making it a bit easier on the quarterback. This is the first of what many expect to be a long, storied, great career on the national squad.

Right Tackle: #68 Erik Hans
Human, 26, 300lbs, 5ft 11in, Male
The right side of the Flames' line is better than the left. Hans is entering his prime, and the fact that he and Telmar are the same age has developed a sense of camaraderie between the two. Hans has superb technique and balance, and a motor that keeps going no matter how tired he is. He only knows how to play at 110%.

Right Guard: #73 Jared Carson
Human, 24, 285lbs, 5ft 9in, Male
Carson showed maturity for his age when he gave up his number for Telmar. Then, he told Telmar that he wanted to have private film study sessions as a Offensive Line to better get prepared for games. This young man wants to soak up all the knowledge that he can. A trickster who likes to pull pranks on his teammates to brighten the mood, he knows when to be serious. Game-time is sacred to him, and the intensity with which he plays is quite scary.

Offensive Substitutions
Quarterback: #11 Nero Williams
Human, 23, 200lbs, 6ft 4in, Male
Williams had a great senior season at FAU, and now is the backup behind Ren, learning behind a Wraith. As Ren isn't a very physical runner due to him being a Wraith, Williams may be called in in goal-line situations to attempt a QB sneak. Williams has a great attitude, and stated, "It will be great to not have the team relying on me, and just having an opportunity to learn more about the game that I love."

Running Back: #28 Nu'il Ran
Orc, 29, 225lbs, 6ft 5in, Male
Has a great sense of gravity and balance and keeps his legs churning forward. Great for short-yardage situations. He is very hard to break down, and also has surprisingly soft hands for short-yardage play-action as well.

Wide Receiver: #81 Ryan Hammerhead
Human, 25, 190lbs, 6ft 5in, Male
Hammerhead is another tall receiver who can come in when the Flames need a deep score. Not fast, but has decent hands.

Offensive Lineman: #70 Brian Nelson
Human, 28, 350lbs, 5ft 11in, Male
Will mostly be substituted in in short-yardage situations, as he is bulky and can provide a push.

Defensive Starters
Coordinator: Nau'kai Vanx
Vampire, 21, 166lbs, 5ft 8in, Male
There are still those who say that 21 is too young to be a coordinator. However, the youth of Vanx energizes his defense, and Chelak likes the young Vampire who comes up with some very unorthodox blitzes.

Defensive Tendencies
Blitz-heavy, and if blitz fails, hopefully catch the guy before he scores. This team has the ability to stop the other squad twice and then get gashed for a play. A classic bend-but-don't-break strategy, they might give up a lot of yards, but they're very stingy in their red zone. If the other team scores, it will most likely be due to deep passes, or short passes that get taken for a lot of yards. They cause more interceptions than fumbles, as the backfield is full of ball hawks. The aggressive style of play, however, does mean that defensive backs will go for the ball instead of the sure tackle, meaning that wide receivers can potentially shake their defender and gain lots of yardage.

Left Defensive End: #59 Christopher Newman
Human, 23, 265lbs, 6ft, Male
Replacing a not-so-great Quincy Thames is anther product of FAU. Christopher has great hands, but that's not what sets him apart. What sets him apart from the rest is his instinct to get to the ball-carrier. He has the ability to just know where the runner will go, where the quarterback will be, and this is what makes him dangerous, and worthy to be on the national team.

Nose Tackle: #60 Red Brune
Human, 23, 290lbs, 5ft 10in, Male
Continuing the theme of youth, Brune gets to play next to Newman once again. Brune has the strength and size to take up two Offensive Linemen, and technique sound enough to go after the running back or quarterback if he gets close enough. The fact that Mark Anderson is a friend of Vanx's makes it easier for the players to adjust, as the schemes are similar. Brune will look to make enough time for the rest of his team to get the ball-carrier.

Right Defensive End: #55 Miosi Harold
Reaper Demon, 304, 250lbs, 6ft 5in, Male
Changing from a Defensive Tackle to a Defensive End is not easy, but Harold is attempting it. A Reaper Demon, he has supernatural agility and strength. A QB chaser, he is not so good at taking down runners, but has a knack of getting into tight spaces and taking down the quarterback.

Left Outside Linebacker: #41 Elemental Demon of Water
Demon, ?, ?, 6ft, ?
The Elemental Demon of Water is in the form of a Wraith, fluid as the water. The Demon has promised to not use any of its powers on the field. Instead, he will seek to crush the offense, punishing the ball-carriers with destructive hits that leave players gasping for breath.

Strong Side Linebacker: #44 Julia Carter - Captain
Human, 26, 150lbs, 5ft 3in, Female
As if Julia wasn't a force to be reckoned with already, she cut ten pounds off her frame, and just won the Yesopalitha Bowl MVP award as she led the Kingston Lynx to a domestic title. She runs the defense, and is a natural at noticing offensive schemes. She is responsible for last-minute changes for the defense. Gifted with nimble hands. this woman has a crazy leap that allows her to snatch balls that opposing quarterbacks threw up there, thinking that a short woman like her couldn't get to it. Julia has made a living off of proving to her opponents why she is playing this game, and looks forward to showing the world once again why she is the Defensive Captain of this team.

Weak Side Linebacker: #54 Darren McMarlin
Human, 23, 255lbs, 6ft, Male
McMarlin is yet another FAU graduate in what was a fabulous crop from Yesopalitha's top Gridiron College. He's a bit raw, but possesses natural quickness and power that make him a tough opponent for a ball-carrier. He's not that good at pass defense, though, and will most likely be asked to take down the ball-carrier or go for the sack.

Right Outside Linebacker: #46 Nevin Hansoval
Human, 27, 210lbs, 5ft 10in, Male
The loud personality on the defense, Hansoval is notorious for harsh hits that sometimes leave the other side injured. The Flames put up with it because he is a very good textbook tackler who doesn't let the offense run by him without paying for it.

Strong Safety: #22 Nealie Janhoven
Goblin, 24, 150lbs, 5ft 8in, Female
Tall for a goblin, Janhoven cut a lot of weight during the off-season, and is in shape more than ever. Good friends with Julia, she likes to show that a female goblin can indeed play gridiron in the world's biggest stage. She's a ball-hawk...

Free Safety: #21 Michael Hammond
Human, 26, 200lbs, 6ft 2in, Male
A blitzing free safety with the capability of tracking a tight end or a third receiver if needed. Possesses quick feet and nice hands, average tackler. Can be shaken by complicated routes that take two or three stages to develop. Not a natural at the game, but is willing to learn.

Left Cornerback: #26 Viccini Hansu
Elf, 254, 160lbs, 6ft 3in, Female
A very capable corner who can handle just about any receiver one-on-one, Hansu possesses great speed and even better hands, along with amazing height. One of the reasons that the Flames' defense is as good as it is, Hansu is crucial for the Flames' success.

Right Cornerback: #37 Luther Merlander
Human, 23, 175lbs, 6ft 5in, Male
A great textbook cornerback who is learning about all the little tricks that wide receivers like to use. He can be a bit slow on the uptake, but what he learns, he remembers pretty much for eternity. Hansu's pupil as well as partner, he will be asked to hold his ground against some great #2 receivers of the world.

Defensive Substitutes
Defensive Lineman: #57 Larson Oswald
Human, 24, 285lbs, 5ft 10in, Male
Will be asked to play the second tackle position when the Flames need four defensive linemen. Has a pretty good initial push, but can get tired easily due to asthmatic symptoms. Has a great personality and is a team favorite due to perseverance and persistence shown.

Safety: #31 Theodore Vicks
Human, 25, 215lbs, 5ft 10in, Male
Will be the third safety in packages when he is needed. Not the greatest at pass defense, but provides sure tackles and great hits on the offensive ball-carrier.

Cornerback: #33 Nance Hendricks
Human, 27, 225lbs, 6ft, Male
Can play the third cornerback if needed. Has great speed, can keep up with most wide receivers. Not very good when routes get complex.

Special Teams
Special Teams Coordinator: Myki Wrotten
Elf, 128, 160lbs, 5ft 9in, Female
Wrotten has been told that a performance like the one the Flames had last year - giving up a lot of punt return touchdowns - will not be tolerated. She has taken it upon herself to make sure that her players will be ready this time around.

Kicker: #1 Mark Van Allen
Human, 34, 160lbs, 5ft 7in, Male
An all-around kicker with good power for kick-offs and accuracy for field goals. He's good for up to forty-five yards with no problem, and then he has a bit of accuracy issues. He can still nail fifty-seven yarders on a good day, though.

Punter/Holder: #12 Julius Trotter
Human, 26. 145lbs, 5ft 9in, Male
A great holder, and even better punter. Not very powerful, but has great direction. Loves coffin corner kicks that leave the opposite side inside their own five-yard line.

Others:
Long Snapper - #15 Liam Unnson, Human, 28, 155lbs, 5ft 10in, Male
Kick Returner - #91 Nymphadora Hellius, Elf, 215, 140lbs, 6ft, Female
Punt Returner - #92 Kim Ingard, Human, 25, 150lbs, 5ft 11in, Female

FAL Roster

Postby Falconfar » Tue Jul 24, 2012 8:35 pm

Falconfar's Gridiron Football Team

With a total of sixty-four professional teams, Falconfar has a very rich Gridiron football community. When it was announced that the Queen would be sending a team to the eighteenth edition of the World Bowl, its citizens eagerly awaited the roster...

RP Permissions and Stuff
Style Modifier: +1
Choose Scorers: Yes. Should mostly be the QB throwing deep, or the RB rushing for short. Defensive touchdowns should be rare.
Injuries: Yes. I can change the duration, though.
Penalties: Yes, but only procedural. They play a clean game.
Godmodding: No. Period.

Nickname: The Imperials

Home Stadium: The Queen's Dome, Irswabi, Falcon, Falconfar (Cap. 196,200)

Head Coach: Justin Austin, 42, Jurion Champions
Austin lead the Champions, Captained by QB William Dawson, to their first Falconfarian title. Now, he has been tasked to put together a 53-man squad and to lead them past their rivalries and differences to play as a team in the world's biggest stage of gridiron football. A small man who can get annoyed quite easily, whether he can hold his temper and lead his players to respectability in their first foray into international ball remains to be seen.

Offensive Coordinator/Assistant Coach: Pierre DuPont, 33, Ytriba Shock
If Austin was the reason that the Champions won, DuPont was the reason why the Shock played them for the Championships. Pierre devised a system to keep all three star receivers in the Shock happy, and he will be tasked to do the same with this squad. His innovate approach is to be praised and to be looked for, as it will take a genius to get this squad to work together...

Defensive Coordinator/Assistant Coach: Victor Morales, 39, La Pinatra Crusaders
The Crusaders may have given up a lot of points in the last Falconfar Season, but they also caused a lot of turnovers. The Imperials will be looking for the turnover on every play, even if it means leaving themselves open for a big score by going for the turnover too much. They will be hoping that they outscore their opponents and cause enough turnovers to win.

Special Teams Coordinator: Henry Taylor, 51, Orion City Rollers
Taylor believes that Field Position wins games. He also believes that returns are the most beautiful things in all of football, and that they should be respected. Look for him to make sure that the Imperials' Special Teams don't get unnoticed.

Another World Bowl has come and gone, and once again Qazox failed to win the title. And once again, they will rebuild to try to win a World Bowl title. But this time, they decided to keep the players, seeing as we didn't have a coach this last time around. So it's all on John Harper III's head now.

Offense
Quarterback Elliot Johnson Tommy Rhodes Bradley Garden
Fullback Nathaniel Mourning Paco Sanchez Wayne Thomas
Running Back Sheldon Taylor Harrison Ryan Rashad Jackson
Wide Receiver 1 Jesus Barrios Sebastian Nelson Jermaine Carlson
Wide Receiver 2 Lucas Clayton Thomas Thompson Kyle Alexander
Right Tackle Clayton Jameson Idriss Pappo Andy Stronach
Right Guard Calvin Thompson Luke O'Neill Funo Vanamuro
Center Jamar Shaw Owen Young Tomas Cano
Left Guard Fumo Vunaseki Scott Bailey Todd Spears
Left Tackle Kai Perkins Raul Hector Leonard Dalton
Tight End Karim Ouaddou Marques James Henry Reid

The biggest surprise is at quarterback, where Elliot Johnson's impressive season with Firewood Phoenix gets him the nod ahead of Tommy Rhodes, whose Utica Bears side struggled all season and ultimately failed to reach the playoffs. Bradley Garden edges out Glenn Martel as the third choice, perhaps owing to his versatility and running skills rather than better passing ability.

Rashad Jackson's demotion to third choice running back is a little surprising, but not overly so. He struggled to get big runs on the board for Shanak this season, while Harrison Ryan was extremely impressive for Greeningham, rushing for twelve touchdowns (#1 in the league). Ku'ka Tumogo'li, the league leader in rushing yards was also left out, and many suspect it is down to his age and fears over his durability after a tough season.

The receiving corps has undergone a bit of a makeover, with Clayton, Nelson, and Thompson all making their first appearances in the national squad, having combined for over 3,300 yards and 30 touchdowns between them last season. Thompson's 14 touchdown receptions and average of 14.7 yards per play made him the most productive receiver in the league overall.

The offensive line has received a few younger upgrades to veteran players in the forms of Shaw, Perkins and Jameson, which should provide better protection for Johnson, while simultaneously providing more likelihood of openings for the running game, but otherwise there is little difference in quality compared to previous years.

Defense
Strong Safety Ku'ro Manito'gu Leon Williams Allen Jasper
Free Safety Craig Wilkerson Ru'go Lubado'ro Si'ku Tiloka'tu
Left Defensive End Kenneth Braddock Robert McCool Oliver Rowland
Left Defensive Tackle Terrell Cleaver Jason Hellman Clayton Monaghan
Right Defensive Tackle Daryn Patterson Casey Walsh Kevin Trotter
Right Defensive End Antonio Martinez Andrew McGregor Inigo Canales
Strongside Linebacker Ku'lo Manaki'de Lanu Kurebava Ethan Murray
Weakside Linebacker Micah Forte Lu'ko Manaki'de Will Burns
Middle Linebacker Jamal Cleaver Joseph Cartagena Rex Johnson
Right Cornerback Ryan Cleaver Jamel Kennedy Bradley Thomas
Left Cornerback Sherwin Palmer Chad Valentin Rigo Kopumava

The defense is arguably the strongest it has ever been. Particularly the pass rush and secondary, but also the run defense. In previous years, Osarian defensive units have been repeatedly burned by running backs considered average or better, but that might come to a stop this time around. Garbongo has identified the glut of defensive talent at his disposal and has tried to select the cream of the crop based on league statistics and differing roles. He should be able to, along with his coaching team, select the best possible defensive unit for any given play and be fairly confident they can stand up to the test. Naturally, the rest of the world's top ten ranked sides will still cause problems, but beyond that, Garbongo won't be expecting too many surprises.

The pass rush is perhaps the most impressive part of the Osarian defense, as it has developed over the years. Pass-oriented offenses will likely see some difficulty against the Firebirds, perhaps owing to the pass-heavy nature of the OSAGIF League. When your linebackers and defensive backs are facing some top quality quarterbacks and highly athletic receivers every week in league play, they have no choice but to learn how to defend against them, one might argue. Of course, there is always the danger that we are overrating our own players. Rigo Kopumava has been talked up in recent years as a future hall of famer, yet he has slipped waaaay down the depth chart this year owing to his inconsistent displays for Kronkow.

Special Teams
Kicker Paul Atkinson
Punter Owen Dickson
Long Snapper Jonathan Cassel
Holder Bradley Garden
Kick Returner Aaron Poynter
Punt Returner Harrison Ryan

There isn't much to say about the Special Teams unit beyond Owen Dickson's emergence as punter. The Corriere man has a strong and accurate kick, and was among the league leaders for punting inside the 20 yard line, while holding the second best average punt distance in the league. Paul Atkinson remains the team's kicker with his "laser rocket boot", while Aaron Poynter -- fourth on the depth chart at running back -- will return kicks.

Bradley Garden's nomination as holder is likely down to his natural holding ability and dual-threat nature. his inclusion provides the Firebirds with the option of utilising fake special teams plays more often, and of course, should a play break down, Garden is more than capable of picking out a pass or carrying the ball forward.

Postby Franklin Delano Bluth » Thu Jul 26, 2012 3:21 pm

True fans of international football will no doubt remember four years ago at World Bowl XIV when, despite a major political fracture in the national football team of the former Bluth Corporation, the Revolutionary Blutharian Peoples' Party (Marxism-Leninism, Mao Tse-Tung Thought) and the Revolutionary Blutharian Peoples' Party (Marxism-Leninism/Mao Tse-Tung Thought) were finally able to put aside their differences and guide themselves to a second straight World Bowl Finals appearance, where they lost a thriller--a single-point decision--to Sarzonia, on Sarzonia's home turf no less. The circumstances of the loss led to some grumbling about the game being fixed and hometown refs, but the Blutharians took their setback in the class war in stride as they regrouped and refocused on defeating the proletariat's most dedicated oppressors.

And they finally succeeded, though only after a total change in tactics. For after many struggles, many battles, and many defeats, they finally learned: only love can produce lasting change. So instead of trying to serve as the vanguard of the working-class, trying to foment insurrection, they turned to passive resistance: abandoning Marxism-Leninism, Mao Tse-Tung Thought and Marxism-Leninism/Mao Tse-Tung Thought in favor of universal communalism, they formed the Blutharian Alliance for Peace and Liberty to lead by example by simply refusing to comply with capitalism. They refused to participate in the workings of the capitalist state and the capitalist market, spreading a message instead of mutual support, love, and universal brotherhood.

And they were successful. Their passion and determination was not in vain: inspiring more and more Blutharians, the entire capitalist-state apparatus crumbled as the Blutharian people simply chose to follow another path. Rather than seeking to eliminate the old order by violence, they simply withdrew their support for it, and stubbornly insisted on an anti-capitalist, individualist lifestyle; they imply behaving as if the obstacles the capitalists put up in their desperation to preserve the old order did not exist and insisted on pushing through.

With capitalism finally eliminated in the newly-named Franklin Delano Bluth, and replaced instead with a free and individualist society where each man was left free to pursue his potential by means of a guarantee of equal access to social wealth, the Blutharian Alliance for Peace and Freedom could finally turn its attention back to their football game--which had suffered of late, what with all their attention having been turned to peaceful, passive social revolution. They now hope to show the world the power of peace and love and passive resistance, and they believe that those same tactics that served them so well in Blutharian politics will transfer to the football field.

And of course, like all good revolutionaries they have chosen revolutionary nicknames--and they insist upon being called by these nicknames in all situations.

Familiar Faces on the Schedule

It's a Baptism of Iron X reunion! Three of the six teams (Thrilledge, Space, and Tryienne) of group eight in World Bowl 18 played in the tenth installment of the Baptism of Iron. This may prove to be an advantage for the Dreadlocks as they already know two of the five teams they will face off against. Here is what Thrilledge's schedule looks like for World Bowl 18:

MD1: vs Space
MD2: @ Matting
MD3: vs Tryienne
MD4: @ Crolacia
MD5: vs Falconfar
MD6: @ Space
MD7: vs Matting
MD8: @ Tryienne
MD9: vs Crolacia
MD10: @ Falconfar

The first game is an intriguing one as it is a rematch of the Baptism of Iron final; one in which Thrilledge prevailed by a score of 30-13 over Space. It will be interesting to see what Space's strategy will be going into the opener. How will they attack quarterback Blastings Thrilledge who lit them up in the BoI? Can they spark their offense against a defense who held them well? Thrilledge fans hope it will be the same result as the BoI but both teams are improved so anything can happen.
Baptism of Iron X Champions
Campionato Esportiva II Champions
Third Place: Campionato Esportiva V
Fouth Place: World Bowl 20
Quarterfinals: World Bowl 19, WBC 24
Round of 16: WBC 21, WBC 23, World Cup of Hockey 18, World Bowl 18

The Rennidan Warriors
From the ashes of a toppled empire rose the Free People of Rennidan, and so too from the ashes of the Berserkers shall Warriors rise.

Young, angry and powerful. Words which describe not only the Warriors but the youth of Rennidan as a whole. As the dust settles from the latest in a long saga of civil wars, the former World Bowl Champions look to return to the glory days of the Brutes with a brand new approach to the game.

The Warriors still choose to play with only 11 players on their roster. Each player fills two or more roles on the field. If a Warrior is injured, he continues to play. Whether it is a severe concussion or a fractured vertebrae, a Warrior will always put his life on the line to win the game.

However, Rennidan has learnt from its mistakes. Darion Tadeo was a tragic loss for the nation, and his death has been used to champion the argument for protective equipment when playing on the gridiron.

And so, for the first time in World Bowl history, Rennidan present their new uniforms to the world.

__________________________________________________________________

Mat O'Lok - 20 years of age - No.9 - QB - S - K - Captain
Scouting Report: "A brilliant tactician on the field, incredibly capable of reading the opponent's plays and coverage, peak physical condition, O'Lok is as comfortable running the ball as he is throwing it. Rennidan's key offensive player."

Heratio Klure - 21 years of age - No.27 - HB - S
Scouting Report: "Agile with brilliant acceleration off the line. Top speed isn't great, but he's slippery enough to cause a defence trouble."

Powis Obsid - 20 years of age - No.30 - FB - LB
Scouting Report: "A powerhouse player (named after Owen Powis?). Acceleration matches that of Klure & strong enough to block multiple players. He turns Klure from a capable HB into a serious threat."

Quin Zeal - 20 years of age - No.80 - WR - CB
Scouting Report: "One half of Warrior's aerial threat. Known to be one of Rennidan's leading traceurs (practitioner of parkour). Fantastic vertical leap, good running speed, catching ability questionable. Quality tackling ability though."

Flynn Zeal - 20 years of age - No.88 - WR - CB
Scouting Report: "Twin brother of Quin, also a practising traceur. All round good WR, would be a bigger threat but has a costly habit of showboating."

Mik Tenfall - 22 years of age - No.55 - TE - LB
Scouting Report: "Good hands and acceleration, rarely used for pass plays though. Very capable blocker. Probably the best LB out of the bunch."

Aél Wiltshire - 24 years of age - No.58 - LT - LB
Scouting Report: "Former weightlifter, incredibly strong. Hits harder than any other player on team, but is terrible at reading plays."

Iota Smith - 23 years of age - No.51 - LG - DE
Scouting Report: "300lbs+, more concerned with eating than football? Hard to get through/around though, could cause trouble for RBs with poor vision or agility. Good ability for opening up holes in the trenches for Klure to run through."

Quentin Maximiano - 26 years of age - No.50 - C - DT - Coach
Scouting Report: "Former convict (with tattoos and scars to show for it), very steady hand, very fast to hit whoever is opposite him once he's snapped the ball. Not afraid to play dirty in the trenches."

Pablo Kreke - 24 years of age - No.53 - RG - DT
Scouting Report: "Strong and sturdy, accurately compared to a battleship by many commentators. Enjoys hurting opponents, best to keep valuable RBs or sneaking QBs away from him."

Jayson Yuset - 23 years of age - No.56 - RT - DE - Physio
Scouting Report: "Champion of Greco-Roman wrestling in Rennidan, very hard to slip his grip once he has a hold of you. Also very capable of putting a lot of power into his slams. Try to avoid if possible."

Style Modifier = +1

A one hour drive and three hour walk from the capital city, Rising Storm, the Powis-Tadeo Arena is a testament to the hardiness of Rennidan's people and a test of visiting teams stamina. Named in honour of a shining legend and an unfortunate tragedy, the stadium boasts two attached villages (one for the Warriors, and a much larger one for visiting teams) as well as a small, well staffed hospital, complete with emergency operating theatre, and a helipad for those players who think themselves above having to take the splendiferous (and gruelling) walk through the country's finest example of nature. Many fans see the journey to each match as a rite of passage; proving themselves worthy enough to be considered a Warriors fan. Because of its distance from civilization the capacity is limited to only 4000 people, a quarter of those seats are reserved for the visiting team's fans. For the other die-hards who still wish to follow their team to Rennidan, but cannot attend the game itself, the Rennidan Tourism Board recommends the Green Sky Pub, located within Rising Storm. The carpark, a former Brutes playing ground, has been turned into one giant tailgate party, with four fifty feet screens showing all the action live.

Godmod scoring events: Y
Godmod injuries: Y

Also of note: The Warriors main scorer should be Mat O'Lok. He operates as a quarterback-meets-halfback, and runs the ball just as much as he throws it.
If you roleplay Rennidan as scoring on a pass play don't forget the Zeal brothers play a very acrobatic game.

Nation: Federal Republic of Allamunnic States
Official Nickname: The Regulars
Unofficial Nicknames: the Blue-and-Grey, Allamunnae

Head Coach: Ryan Smart (Age: 38)
Last year, Ryan Smart became the first coach in World Bowl history to successfully defend a championship. Unfortunately, the team’s proven success led its coaching staff and players to become key targets for domestic clubs, and the team has seen a lot of departures this year. The only reason nobody would be surprised to see the Regulars repeat once again as champions is that Smart is still at the helm, and was thus able to retain some key people, as well as keeping the offensive system more-or-less the same.

General Manager: Benjamin Jameson (Age: 56) – Jameson is a behind-the-scenes wizard who has managed to turn an underfunded and underperforming Allamunnic national side into a perennial championship contender, loading the team with talent, and retaining veterans and bringing in fresh blood in equal parts. In the short time that he had to work with, he wasn't able to find a replacement for departed secondary coach Marissa DeMarke, though, and recent moves suggest that he may be going along with Allamunnic Sporting Commissioner Hadley Thornburger's request to shrink the team a little bit, by opting not to replace departing players.

Special Teams Coordinator: Harvey O'Bannon (Age: 61) – Special teams have long been a weakness for this team, although O'Bannon has managed to make it less of a problem in recent years; the special teams lost the Regulars many a game in past years, but Harvey has managed to ensure that it at least isn't a damning problem for a championship-winning team.

Offensive Coaching Staff
Offensive Coordinator: Ryan Smart (Age: 38) – With Leon Rodriksunn’s departure to the domestic league to take over as OC for the Tripoli Pirates, Smart has taken over fully as the offensive coordinator, in addition to his head coaching responsibilities. That said, there shouldn’t be any major changes, since he was doing most of the offensive play-calling anyway before now.

Quarterbacks Coach: John McClelland (Age: 51) – Twenty years of experience in a domestic league that's rough on quarterbacks makes McClelland a good man to have coaching the team's signal-callers. The loss of Zofya Hanriksun to the Inneville Capitals was a bit of a blow for McClelland, who had watched her grow up over the last few years, but he was able to work with the GM to find a competent replacement as a backup in John Painter, and thanks to his work, Leif Erikson seems to have come along fairly nicely.

Running Backs Coach: Willy Zimmermann (Age: 56) – Zimmermann has long presided over a deep and explosive running back corps. The current group is arguably the best the team has ever had, barring, maybe, the years when Haanryk Stahlburg and Gaarutt Fulvshundlur made up the one-two-punch of the team's offense. Of course, Wyndhorst is a World Bowl-winning MVP, and Ryan Myers is plenty explosive, so this current group is pretty damn good, even before one realizes its rounded out by Ole Nurdsunn and Myra Dercyk.

Receivers Coach: Zack Quinn (Age: 60) – Quinn is an old receiver who played in a domestic league that wasn’t exactly receiver friendly, and managed to do well in spite of that and in spite of being of more or less average talent. The receiving corps will need to come into its own if the passing game is going to get off the ground, but luckily in his mission of pushing and teaching the young receivers, he's helped by two World Bowl stalwarts in Willy Theodore and Mikel Dunn, who are both in their tenth World Bowls.

Offensive Line Coach: Baeryk Vaalburger (Age: 43) – Baeryk is the son of former national team coach Staevan Vaalburgur, and, like his father, played offensive line in college and in the pros. Lacking some of the bulk necessary for a good lineman, Baeryk found himself out of the league within five years, but has since made a living as an excellent teaching coach, and he is taking over for Rodriksunn after his departure. Look for the line under Vaalburgur to remain as strong as always.

Defensive Coaching Staff:
Defensive Coordinator: Daniel Rickenbacher (Age: 48) – Rickenbacher served on the defensive line he now coaches for many years, and finished his twenty-year career with the national team. Of course, his long tenure on the team made him the ideal candidate to replace Theo Dahlstadt when he left for a domestic-league coaching job. Rickenbacher’s defense will likely look very similar, if not exactly the same to Dahlstadts, with its multi-front, blitz-heavy approach remaining the same.

Defensive Line Coach: Daniel Rickenbacher (Age: 48) – Rickenbacher served on the defensive line he now coaches for many years, and finished his twenty-year career with the national team. He continues to serve as defensive line coach, despite his additional responsibilities as defensive coordinator, as well as his goal of developing Ryan Walkerton into a stronger lineman.

Linebackers Coach: Jethro Myers (Age: 43) – The general improvement in the linebacking corps is most-likely attributed to Myers' coaching; as a former Ironmongers linebacker, he knows his position as well as anyone, even if he wasn't the best at it, physically; if anything, that ensured that he learned the position all the better to compensate for a lack of innate talent.

Secondary Coach: Elias Mourner (Age: 38) – Marissa DeMarke followed Dahlstadt to the domestic league, and, unable to find a suitable replacement in time, strong-safety Elias Mourner has taken over duties coaching the secondary; at this point, the secondary is so veteran-heavy that the older players are more than capable of teaching the younger ones. That said, it’s hardly an ideal situation, but it may also be a predictor of things to come; Mourner’s not getting any younger.

Uniforms:

Home Stadium:
Federal Steel Field, Thomasburg (Stalhamark)
Note: Because the Allamunnic national team is used to playing during inclement weather, and IC'ly the World Bowl is during the winter in the Federation, teams that play games at Federal Steel Field should assume as a matter of course that it will be snowing during the game. I'll try and put a "weather forecast" ahead of time so that they know, but a good assumption is that it will suck for teams used to warm weather.
RP Info and Permissions:
Style Modifier: -2.5
Choose Scorers: I'd rather you didn't. If you do choose my scorers, if I RP within twenty-four hours, I may ask you to change my scorers. This is due to specific story-lines and characters I may want to emphasize.
Injure Players: You may injure my players; I'd prefer you not injure more than two or three in a game, and while the injury may end the player's involvement in that game, I will decide on any further inactivity for a player caused by injury.
Penalize Players: Any team considered to be a rival of the Allamunnic States (i.e. Qazox, Cassadaigua, Civil Citizenry), pretty much gets a pass to do this at will; those games may slip into 'dirty' territory. Anyone else may penalize, but should keep it realistic.
Godmod Injuries: Yes, but with same provisos as injuring players through normal means. I determine severity outside game-ending (for the player).
Godmod Other Events: Don't kill anyone or conflict with any of the above permissions. Also, if you're gonna do this, have some fun with it.
Photographs: Please do not use photographs with any players intended to depict players on my team.
Note: All players have stats of Age, Height, Weight, Tendencies, College, and Hometown provided, along with a brief description.
Additional Note: Blitz-heavy does not even begin to describe the Allamunnic defense; if you're outside of the Top Ten or not an Allamunnic rival, I'd appreciate it if you at least made a note of any success on the ground being difficult. Moreover, whether or not they're sacks, opposing QB's tend to get hit a lot. They might well be successful, but try to keep in mind that your QB (again, unless you're in the Top Ten or one of my rivals) will likely be getting smacked around a lot. (Credit where credit is due: Cassadaigua first put this sort of note in, and it seemed to be a good idea, so I've followed suit).
Team Captains (Coin-Toss Purposes):
Offense: Willy Theodore (WR)
Defense: Miles Ryan (MLB)
Special Teams: Wayne Scott (P)

Overview:
The Regulars became the first team to win back-to-back championships in World Bowls Sixteen and Seventeen, and have more-or-less locked themselves up as the preeminent team to beat in World Bowl Eighteen. The team has undergone a few changes in the year since they won their second championship: former offensive coordinator Leon Rodriksunn left to be Offensive Coordinator for the Tripoli Pirates, and Theo Dahlstadt took the head-coaching job in Innsbruck, taking Regulars' secondary coach Marissa DeMarke with him to be his defensive coordinator. As a result, Coach Smart has taken over as OC, and Danny Rickenbacker has taken over as DC, with the hope being that the team won't see a drop-off from either one. Also of note was the emphasis the team placed on the pass in training camp; Smart seems determined to force young signal-caller Leif Erikson to develop further this year, after he had some rather disappointing numbers and inconsistent performances in last years' qualifiers.

Offense:
Style: Balanced Power-Oriented
Primary Front:Three-Wide, Single-Back
Overview:
Once again, the team is, in name at least, a balanced, flexible offense, and, once again, that's likely to go out the window the minute the team hits problems. The best way to describe the Allamunnic offense is with pretty much any word besides "flashy." The running game is, as always, Coach Smart's security blanket, and the team has been known to switch between anything from a standard pro-style offense to a triple-option style attack, depending on the weather. Moreover, with quarterback Leif Erikson's development, expect to see the passing game used a little more. However, as a whole, the offense is at its best when it can just take a few yards at a time and move down the field at its own pace.

Quarterbacks:

QB#9 Leif Erikson - Age: 22; H: 6'2"; W: 232lbs - Balanced - Innsbruck University - Muhlenburg, Ostrea – At twenty-two, entering his third year with the Regulars, Erikson has accomplished more than some players do in their entire careers, having helped see the Regulars to two world championships, showing growth in his ownership of the offense, despite last year’s evident growing-pains and statistical decline. Erikson is the gunslinger that Smart had long been searching for, and though it wasn’t apparent from his stats last year, he has the arm strength and intangibles to make him more than capable of stepping into the more typical quarterback’s role as fulcrum of the offense.

QB#15 John Painter – Age: 30; H: 6’3”; Weight: 223lbs – Pocket Passer – St. Theodore Catholic College – Vanderburg, Ostrea – Painter is a career-backup quarterback; even in college, he spent his four years backing up future AGL star Joe Anderson, and has spent the last eight years with five different teams backing up Alex Bradley (Ravens), Dane Zacks (Huskies), Dana Graw (Pirates), Victor Dunbar (Kings), and Anderson (Chargers). Painter has, unfortunately, become necessary with Zofya Hanriksun’s departure to the domestic league to play in the Inneville Capitals’ triple-option offense. Painter won’t be called on often (Erikson’s managed to make it clear that he’s a sturdy signal-caller) and won’t be asked to do much when he is.

Halfbacks

HB#27 Danyl Wyndhorst - Age: 21; H: 5'11"; W: 220lbs - Balanced - UT Copenhagen - Shieldsburg, Tyrrswatch - Danyl is possibly the most dangerous weapon on this offense, and played a crucial role in two championship campaigns. A runner in the mold of Haanryk Stahlburg, Wyndhorst's absurd mix of power and break-away speed has made him one of the most productive backs on any team, and has essentially made him the offense's security blanket. Wyndhorst is at his best running up the middle, which is good, since the offense's bread-and-butter is running the trap and the dive.

HB#24 Ryan Myers - Age: 22; H: 6'0"; W: 224lbs - Balanced - US Dunnmaar - Fahlsburg, Stalhamark - If Wyndhorst is 'Mister Inside,' then Myers is his 'Mister Outside.' Ryan lacks the power of Wyndhorst, but if anything is even more spectacular when he puts on the burners, and is at his best taking a toss or bouncing the ball to the outside, or working out of the backfield to catch passes. Myers isn't too bad at rushing up the middle, but it's best to leave that to Wyndhorst, who prefers it.

HB#29 – Myra Dercik – Age: 28; H: 5’5”; W: 146lbs – Speed – University of Kohlenburg – Meuse, Northwatch – University of Kohlenburg - Dercik is the fragile speedster among the halfbacks, with more emphasis on the latter than the former. Dercik is only good between the tackles so long as she gets good blocks from the offensive line. Running to the outside, or playing as a receiving halfback, though, is another story entirely. One of the fastest players in the offense, Dercik, if she gets free, is always a threat to take one to the house. Note that she and offensive guard Hanrik Wurfytur are married, and they seem to be especially on the same page; if Wurfytur is in, she's even more likely to find room to break a big run.

Fullbacks:

FB#44 – Ole Nurdsunn – Age: 28; H: 6’1”; W: 250lbs – Power – UT Copenhagen – Copenhagen, Tyrrswatch – Nurdsunn has made a name for himself over the last several years as a back who is almost pure power. He's not slow, per-se, but he's not going to blaze past anyone, and its his power that is his strength, running over tacklers like a freight-train. Its for this reason, as well as his aggression, that he's since been moved to fullback, to take advantage of his vicious blocking skills and open up massive holes for the slightly speedier backs, although expect to see him get a few carries, especially in short-yardage situations.

FB#40 John Kaiser - Age: 26; H: 6'2"; W: 260lbs - Power - Northwatch State University - Meuse, Northwatch - The decision was made this year to use an actual fullback in offensive schemes this year to accomplish the job of lead-blocking and pass-protection when called upon. Expect Kaiser to get playing time if Nurdsunn goes down for some reason, or in goal-line sets, where Nurdsunn will be in at halfback. Especially because while Nurdsunn is a converted tailback, Kaiser is a pure fullback.

Tight Ends:

TE#89 - Garrett Kelley - Age: 26; H: 6'4"; W: 245lbs - Balanced - Northwatch State University - Northwatch, Northwatch - Kelley has proven to not only be a reliable target, but has turned out to be one of Erikson's favorites, and its easy to see why; the guy gets open, and he catches the ball, even if he's not a huge down-field threat once he makes that catch.

TE#82 – Peter Fredrikson – Age: 30; H: 6’4”; W: 250lbs – Possession – Bowler State University – Danielson, Piekslynd – Fredrikson is a new face on the team, brought in to add some depth to the tight-ends. He’s not the most gifted tight-end out there, but he’s certainly up to the task of replacing Kelley, should he go down.

Wide Receivers:

WR#85 – Willy Theodore – Age: 33; H: 6’5”; W: 235lbs – Balanced - St. Theodore Catholic College - Innsbruck, Ostrea - The coaches finally decided to treat Theodore as what he really is; a notable deep threat, a physical player, and a candidate to be any quarterback’s security blanket. He is a critical player in terms of his knack for making big plays and covering his responsibilities with care and thoroughness. Theodore has a tendency to rip would-be interceptions out of hapless cornerbacks’ hands, and for flattening defensive backs. Leave him single-covered at your own risk. Offensive Team Captain.

WR#4 – Mikel Dunn – Age: 35; H: 6’4”; W: 217lbs – Balanced – Thomasburg State University – Uniontown, Stalhamark – Thomasburg State University - If there’s one player that fits the stereotype of the big-play receiver, it’s Mikel Dunn, one of the most dangerous targets for any quarterback. Dunn’s got hands like magnets covered in glue, plenty of jumping ability, break-away speed, and enough size and strength to be a physical player. In other words, God help you if you underestimate a weapon like Dunn.

WR#87 – Izaak Rolle – Age: 25; H: 6’3”; W: 217lbs – Balanced - None - Vienna, Ostrea - Rolle has emerged as a truly dynamic threat at Erikson's disposal; to call Rolle anything else would be a gross underestimation of his talents, and the fact is that he's made some incredible plays for the team in the last few years, more than dispelling any doubts about his abilities.

WR#86 – Hael Fokkenmaar – Age: 24; H: 6’1”; W: 200lbs – Balanced – Innsbruck University – Udunsfurd, Skraelingia - Hael emerged as another dangerous receiving threat for the Regulars last year, giving Erikson plenty of options when throwing. Though likely the least-remarkable of the top four wide receivers, and forced back into a secondary role by the team's increased use of tight-end-sets, Fokkenmaar will likely be the most-used back-up and will be an important component of the offense.

WR#81 – Ryan Sherman - Age: 26; H: 6'0"; W: 185lbs - Speed - University of Copenhagen - Tyrrswatch, Tyrrswatch - Sherman was brought in two years ago as primarily a return-man and a reserve receiver. He's nothing special, but he's got some good speed to contribute, and should prove useful. Serves as a kick and punt returner.

WR#80 – Devin Smith – Age: 25; H: 6’4”; W: 215lbs – Balanced – US Thomasburg – Thomasburg, Stalhamark – Smith is a player who managed to sneak his way into the playing-rotation without anyone in the press noticing. Smith's posessed of some amazing speed, some notable size, and good hands, making him a solid option for the team's quarterbacks and a reliable target coming in relief of the first-stringers. Ignore at your own risk.

Offensive Line:

LT#72 – Waaltur Stroenheim – Age: 34; H: 6’8”; W: 325lbs – Balanced – USk Thursfeld – Rumanika, Skraelingia – Stroenheim is the most experienced left-tackle the team has. He’s big, and he’s strong, and he will end you.

LT#76 – Alexander Weimar - Age: 26; H: 6’5”; W: 323lbs – Balanced – UN Meuse - Meuse, Northwatch - Weimar is a strong left-tackle. He's got more experience in run-first systems, but he's a capable pass-protector as well. As always, no lineman starts for an entire game by himself; rotation is the norm.

LT#61 – Danyl Bloem - Age: 23; H: 6'5"; W: 320lbs - Balanced - US Thomasburg - Dunnmaar, Stalhamark - Bloem is another solid left-tackle, more than capable of starting himself. Bloem will rotate with Weimar to keep the line fresh.

LT#70 – Carolus Hoenzorn – Age: 23; H: 6’3”; W: 310lbs – Balanced – Fredrick University – Fredrik, Tyrrswatch – Hoenzorn is a rookie out of Fredrick University who, compared to the other left tackles on the Allamunnic squad, is somewhat undersized. That said, he’s certainly not too small to do the job, and it’s left him with a scrappy underdog attitude.

LG#75 – Archie Erikson – Age: 33; H: 6’2”; W: 316lbs – Balanced – Leif’s Harbor College – Markenburg, Tyrrswatch – Erikson is the most experienced left guard available, and will open up some great running holes. Also, he will end you.

LG#54 – Junn Lohr - Age: 24; H: 6'2"; W: 312lbs - Balanced - UT Copenhagen - Skarrsboro, Skraelingia - Lohr is a vicious blocker, which is good, because the guards are probably the two most important men on the line for the Allamunnic squad.

LG#68 – Eric Ridgeway - Age: 27; H: 6'3"; W: 314lbs - Balanced - Leif's Harbor College - Wilsonville, Skraelingia - Ridgeway lacks Lohr's anger-managment issues, which as a frequently-pulling guard on a team that prides itself on running the ball, is a little more of an issue than one might think.

LG#60 – Leonard Kindbom – Age: 26; H: 6’2”; W: 316lbs – Balanced – UT Zagreb – Kristinburg, Tyrrswatch – Kindbom is a younger guard who will contribute to the third quarter.

C#67 – Theodur Suldurmunn – Age: 35; H: 6’1”; W: 308lbs – Balanced – UT Copenhagen – Saen Maarkus, Skraelingia – Suldurmunn is a long-time veteran of the Allamunnic national squad, and though he’s probably starting to near the end of his career, Suldurmunn is likely to continue to be a big-time contributor at center.

C#73 – Durik Saenmikel - Age: 26; H: 6’4”; W: 320lbs – Balanced – USk Skarrsboro - Saen Maarkus, Skraelingia - Saenmikel plays with the same mentality as most Allamunnic guards, which means he's a nasty blocker, and tends to enjoy taking on nose-tackels one-on-one, a task he seems more than up to.

C#66 – Haanryk Suldurmunn - Age: 24; H: 6'2"; W: 314lbs - Balanced - USk Skarrsboro - Aaldurhaal, Skraelingia - Suldurmunn is a more than capable backup to Saenmikel, and is another blocker who enjoys hitting opponents maybe just a little too much.

C#53 – Roderik Laansur – Age: 24; H: 6’0”; W: 302lbs – Balanced – Leif’s Harbor College – Vienna, Ostrea – Laansur is adding another bit of youth to the offensive line. Part of the fourth cohort, he’ll see his share of action, if not as much as some of the others.

RG#63 – Hanrik Wurfytur – Age: 32; H: 6’2”; W: 318lbs – Balanced – US Dunnmaar – Skarrsboro, Skraelingia – Wurfytur is a very capable and very aggressive right guard who helped power the Allamunnic rushing attack in its earlier years. Wurfytur may be getting a little long in the tooth, but he’s still a powerful blocker, and all the more when Myra Dercik is in, when his blocks will become particularly violent and it will royally suck to up against him.

RG#55 – Paul Erikson - Age: 26; H: 6’1”; W: 316lbs – Balanced - UT Copenhagen - Copenhagen, Tyrrswatch - Erikson is a firm believer that there are few things more enjoyable than what his old 'ball coach called "HMF"-ing. Or, for the unenlightened, "Hitting a Motherf---er." Never has a pulling guard been more dangerous.

RG#50 – Derrik Hael - Age: 23; H: 6'2"; W: 310lbs - Balanced - Leif's Harbor College - Saen Mikel, Skraelingia - Hael doesn't take quite the same glee in blindsiding people that Erikson does. Not that he doesn't enjoy it, but his main joy comes from stonewalling cocky defensive linemen, instead.

RG#56 – Ryan Grimm – Age: 23; H: 6’1”; W: 303lbs – Balanced – UO Vienna/St. Theodore – Tyrrswatch, Tyrrswatch – Grimm is a newer guard brought onto the team who will see time with the fourth cohort. Grimm’s smaller than average for the team’s offensive line, but makes up for it with an aggressive mentality.

RT#71 – Gragur Stroenheim – Age: 34; H: 6’8”; W: 330lbs – Balanced – Bowler University – Rumanika, Skraelingia – Stroenheim is a big strong tackle, much like his brother on the other side of the line. Stroenheim brings valuable experience to the line, and will see action with the third cohort.

RT#74 – Theodur Fokkenmaar – Age: 23; H: 6'3"; W: 314lbs – Balanced – Leif's Harbor College – Leif's Harbor, Ostrea – Fokkenmaar is a right tackle who's good at both pass protection and run blocking, and takes a great amount of satisfaction in doing both effectively.

RT#76 – John Grossman – Age: 25; H: 6'4"; W: 318lbs – Balanced – Thomasburg State University – Derrick, Piikslund – Grossman is a solid all-around player, but isn't at the same level of talent as some of the other tackles. He'll fill in in a pinch, and will help keep the others fresh, but don't expect him to do a whole lot beyond the basics of his job.

RT#52 – Vaalhulm Rikken – Age: 26; H: 6’6”; W: 324lbs – Balanced – Rumanika College – Kristinburg, Tyrrswatch – Rikken is another younger lineman brought on to gain some experience, and who will see action with the fourth cohort, playing every fourth game, at most.

Defense:
Style: Blitz-Heavy
Primary Front: 3-4 or 4-3. Either is likely.
Overview:
Defense wins championships. That statement is pretty much gospel to the Allamunnic gridiron squad. The offense may have improved in recent years, but the defense is still what makes this team so formidable; after the team's requisite fluke loss in the group stage last year, the team went nine games without allowing an offensive touchdown, and had a turnover ratio of around 3:1, with many games with an even better turnover ratio. If there's a better defense in the World Bowl right now, they have yet to show themselves. Worth note is Theo Dahlstadt's approach to play-calling; odds are, he's dialing up a blitz on a given down. The reasoning is simple; the Allamunnic squad has no shortage of great linemen and linebackers to rush the passer and meet the ball-carrier, and they have a secondary that's strong enough to give the front seven the freedom to simply go out and play.

Defensive Tackles:

DT#95 – Theodur Laansur – Age: 34; H: 6’8”; W: 324lbs – Balanced – Federal Army – Dunnmaar, Stalhamark – Theo is probably one of the best defensive linemen playing at the moment, and it's not just because he's large. Laansur is physically a large enough man that his heft isn't indicative of speed problems or abnormal health problems: he's just really big. He's no speedster, but Laansur is quick enough on his feet that he's a menace to inside-rushers, and can put some hurt on any quarterback who underestimates him. While his main role is as a run-stopper, as a line-anchor in the 3-4, he might well find playing time in pretty much every front.

DT#62 – Haanryk Faalks – Age: 26; H: 6’3”; W: 328lbs – Balanced – UT Copenhagen – Copenhagen, Tyrrswatch – Faalks turned out to be a useful defensive tackle, and has been moved up to help replace the retiring Leon Thornburger. Faalks lacks experience, but has some good explosiveness and has a knack for clogging up the line, while also having a good nose for passers and ball-carriers. There might be a couple of teething issues, but Faalks should give good service on the team for some time to come.

DT#94 – Danny Mallett – Age: 28; H: 6’5”; W: 330lbs – Balanced – UH Nocksburg – Vimesburg, Piikslund – Faalks’ partner in crime is Danny Mallett, who is nothing if not a capable tackle. Similarly inexperienced to Faalks, Mallet has seen a little more action, but is much more of a run-stopper than Faalks, even if he's not too shabby against the pass either. Mallett will likely team up with Faalks out of a 4-3 set, leaving Laansur to anchor the 3-4 fronts.

DT#90 – Gaarutt Jorgesun - Age: 24; H: 6’4”; W: 324lbs – Balanced – UT Zagreb - Copenhagen, Tyrrswatch - Jorgeson gave solid service as a rookie last year, giving the coaches even less to worry about where the future of the defense is concerned; the man is strong enough that he's actually capable of playing as a nose or standard defensive tackle, and might well see more playing time this year.

Defensive Ends:

DE#98 – Archie Wagner - Age: 31; H: 6’2”; W: 288lbs – Balanced – UO Vienna/St. Theodore - Vienna, Ostrea - A sharp contrast to Honorius Waalturs' quiet professionalism, Archie Wagner is an energetic, boistrous, and obviously intelligent player. Archie actually sometimes has too much energy; he won't sit still prior to a snap, instead shuffling and moving around to confuse offensive blocking schemes. He seems to be a rather smart player, or at least he has a strong grasp of psychology. Archie loves to get in O-linemen's grills, just to try to provoke them into stupid penalties, which seems to work rather well. Because he's not 'silent-but-deadly' like Waalturs, many people miss the fact that Wagner actually is almost as good.

DE#58 – Honorius Waalturs – Age: 31; H: 6’1”; W: 266lbs – Balanced – US Dunnmaar – Skarrsboro, Skraelingia – Waalturs is the marquee player on the defensive line for the team. Waalturs is very fast and strong, and tends to make most right tackles look like fools. As athletic as he is, it's no surprise that Waalturs is also very flexible, being usable as both a pass-rusher and an outside-run-stopper. He possesses an impressive work-ethic and is as civil and polite as they come on and off the field, which has a jarring dissonance with his tendency to slam people violently to the ground between the whistles.

DE#59 – Ryan Walkerton - Age: 22; H: 6’4”; W: 273lbs – Balanced – UT Copenhagen - Dunnmaar, Stalhamark - Walkerton has proven a little more of a project than originally intended, although that appears to partially be due to the fact that he's somewhat undersized for an Allamunnic defensive end, and without Honorius Waalturs' exceeding talent to make up for a size problem. That said, he's still quite competent, and if he continues improving at his current rate, he'll be a very useful player for years to come.

DE#79 – Zack Steele – Age: 26; H: 6’2”; W: 293lbs – Balanced – UP Derrick – Fondor, Piikslund – Despite his relative lack of playing time, Steele seems to have come along rather nicely; he's no stud defensive end, but he's up to the job expected of him, and he won't be a liability on the field. That said, he's not likely to make many huge plays, either; he's a position player who fulfills his responsibility, does his job competently, and that's about it.

Outside Linebackers:

OLB#42 – Daniel Chessen - Age: 28; H: 6’2”; W: 251lbs – Balanced – US Rone - Leif's Harbor, Ostrea - Danny has proven himself as a valuable position player and play-maker, if slightly less talented than some of the other star linebackers. He's proven himself a good mentor for young star Danley Vicious, and a competent complement on the other side of the field, helping to contain the weak-side.

OLB#41 – Danley Vicious - Age: 23; H: 6’2”; W: 253lbs – Blitzer – UO Vienna/St. Theodore - Grimmeburg, Piikslund - In his rookie year, Danley distinguished himself as someone more than worthy of his awesome last name. Danley is most-suited for attacking, moving forward to stop the run or contribute to the pass-rush, rather than working in coverage. He's a crucial edge-setter on the strong side, as well.

OLB#37 – Shawn Holmstrom - Age: 25; H: 6'2"; W: 251lbs - Balanced - UO Leif's Harbor - Shraedurpurt, Tyrrswatch - Holmstrom is another young linebacker who will be able to provide a stable, reliable presence in the event that the starters need to rotate in and out. He's still developing some, but shows plenty of signs that he's on his way to being as good as there is anywhere.

OLB#47 – Derrik Marks - Age: 24; H: 6'2"; W: 248lbs - Blitzer - US Dunnmaar - Rone, Stalhamark - Maarks is a strong blitzing linebacker, who is more than capable of adding a blistering quality to the pass-rush. His abilities are still developing, and he's mostly going to be a package and rotating player, rather than a starter, for now.

Inside Linebackers:

ILB#43 – Miles Ryan – Age: 33; H: 6’0”; W: 254lbs – Balanced – University of Copenhagen – Copenhagen, Tyrrswatch – Ryan led a defense that crashed, tackled, and made all the right plays en-route to helping the Allamunnic squad win two World Bowl Championships. The spine-breaking defense has been one of relatively few constants on the Allamunnic squad, and as long as the intelligent and athletic Ryan is that squad's field-general, that's extremely unlikely to change. Defensive Captain.

ILB#45 – Steven Lindburgh - Age: 23; H: 6'3"; W: 251lbs - Balanced - UO Innsbruck - Andersburg, Stalhamark - Lindburgh helped lead arguably the best defensive unit in the world last two years, and he returns in the destructive one-two-punch combination with Miles Ryan to lead the defense from the inside linebacking position.

ILB#48 – Leopyld Udunsunn - Age: 30; H: 6’1”; W: 250lbs – Balanced – Kristinburg Technical School - Kristinburg, Tyrrswatch - Udunsunn lacks the talent of the two inside-linebacking starters, but he's more than sufficient to take over in a pinch, and frankly, saying that someone is only a little less talented than Miles Ryan or Steven Lindburgh is like saying the third-most-dangerous bomb.

ILB#46 – Izaak Hand – Age: 26; H: 6'1"; W: 248lbs – Coverage – UN Northwatch – Northwatch, Northwatch – Hand is, first and foremost, a field-general style linebacker. His main strength is in covering the middle, but he's still quite capable of carrying out other inside linebackers' responsibilities, including pass rushing and stopping the run, and is smart enough to make the right audibles to keep the defense functioning if called upon.

Cornerbacks:

CB#1 – Isabelle Marquette - Age: 26; H: 5’6”; W: 140lbs – Balanced – US Rone - Inneville, Fililund - Marquette's development over the last few years has seen her become the team's more exciting star cornerback. She has enough speed to hang with the fastest of the receivers, has a nose for the ball, and has the hands of a receiver, which makes throwing in her direction a dangerous prospect. She's also coming off a career campaign last year.

CB#23 – Andrik Ierunmungur – Age: 33; H: 6’3”; W: 215lbs – Balanced – Thomasburg State University – Daalfuurge, Stalhamark – Ierunmungur is probably the most experienced play-making corner available to the team; he’s very fast, and has a knack for placing himself between the ball and the intended receiver. He also sometimes returns kicks and punts.

CB#13 – Julius Harkness – Age: 27; H: 5’10”; W: 199lbs – Balanced – University of Copenhagen – Vimesburg, Piikslund – Harkness is a first-year cornerback with the team who arrived late to camp, and so missed the whole ordeal and gets to start as a result. Harkness is a corner with a strong skill-set and is a strong tackler. While he probably won't force as many turnovers as Belle, he'll probably get a few here and there, and will shut down number-two receivers without too much problem.

CB#17 – John Tanner – Age: 24; H: 6'1"; W: 201lbs – Balanced – UO Vienna/St. Theodore – Leif's Harbor, Ostrea – Tanner is a solid all-around corner who should rotate in and out without slowing down the defense, and should be able to make a play here and there of his own.

CB#26 – Vitomir Danacek – Age: 30; H: 6’2”; W: 221lbs – Balanced – USk Udunsfurd – Thurrsfeld, Skraelingia – Danacek is another solid corner who puts in good work in the secondary, even if he’s fairly unremarkable.

CB#23 – Erica Shoenburg – Age: 23; H: 5'7"; W: 141lbs – Speed – UN Kohlenburg – Filia, Fililund – Shoenburg is a mostly speed-geared corner. She's not as physical, but is great at placing herself between the ball and the receiver. She's not too consistant about coming down with it, but she does a great job of making sure the receiver doesn't get it, either. Serves as a kick and punt returner.

Safeties:

FS#49 – Markus Josephus – Age: 32; H: 6’2”; W: 222lbs – Balanced – US Thomasburg – St. Theodore, Ostrea – Josephus is a play-making free safety who can play like a strong-safety when necessary. It is this versatility that makes the Allamunnic secondary dangerous; both safeties are multitalented and can hurt offenses in coverage and on the attack. Allowing Josephus to work with Mourner is murder for most offenses.

FS#25 – Erik Dahlhorst – Age: 23; H: 6'1"; W: 210lbs – Balanced – Thomasburg State University – Copenhagen, Tyrrswatch – Dahlhorst proved last year to be a capable back-up, and likely eventual replacement for Josephus, and has taken over as the #2 free safety.

FS#22 – Leif Coelmunn – Age: 26; H: 6’0”; W: 231lbs – Coverage – Skarrsboro University – Rumanika, Skraelingia – Coelmunn is a solid all-around safety who is at his best when playing a responsibility. He can shut down receivers or sections of the field competently, leaving his defensive backfield partner, Mourner, the freedom to make the really big plays.

SS#10 – Elias Mourner – Age: 38; H: 6’2”; W: 228lbs – Balanced – Shraedurpurt University – Westpass, Stalhamark – The MVP of World Bowl Seventeen has taken over this year as an on-field coach, of sorts, for the secondary. Of course, even before, he essentially was assisting Marissa DeMarke in that job, even while being one of the leaders on the defense and arguably one of the team's biggest play-makers. He earned MVP honors in the 17th Championship by intercepting Blutharian quarterback Cain Wells three times, scoring a touchdown on one, sacking him, and securing eleven tackles. Mourner is about as dangerous as a safety can be.

SS#21 – Jarrett Jackson – Age: 23; H: 6’1”; W: 211lbs – Balanced – Bowler University – Tripoli, Southport – Jackson is another young safety who will likely develop into a major force for the team in a few years, when Mourner is eventually forced to retire. Until then, he will be a very capable backup.

SS#12 - Liam Swonder – Age: 25; H: 6'0"; W: 205lbs – Balanced – University of Thomasburg – Mobilston, Piikslund – Swonder is a back-up. That much is readily apparent.

Special Teams:

K#7 - Justin Connors - Age: 25; H: 6'0"; Weight: 192lbs - Place-Kicker - St. Mary's University - Connors is the place-kicker with the unenviable task of replacing long-time kicker Phillipa Demirici. Connors looks to be a solid kicker, but there's no way to be sure until the playing starts.

P#4 – Wayne Scott – Age: 23; H: 6'0"; W: 200lbs – Punter – Leif's Harbor College – Vimesburg, Piikslund – Wayne is an extremely competent punter, skilled at getting the "Crazy Corner" (as it's known among Allamunnic punters) and averaging 48 yards-per-punt in college. Special Teams Captain.

P/K#2 – Scott Ayres – Age: 33; H: 5’11”; W: 188lbs – Punter – Filia College – Inneville, Fililund – Ayres is a reserve punter and kicker, who can fill in for Demirici or Scott if either of them should be injured.

LS#19 – Graham Long – Age: 29; H: 5’11”; W: 234lbs – Longsnapping – Greensford College – Naakstbaen, Ostlund – Long is a good, consistant long-snapper. Not much else to say.

LS#51 – Stephen Snaps – Age: 24; H: 6'1"; W: 203lbs – Long-Snapper – Leif's Harbor College – Dreichium, Dreichium – He's a long-snapper. There's not a whole lot to tell; he's consistant and accurate. What more is there?

Welcome to Circling the Table, the competitive show of Sports banter and your host John Vitali.

Vitali: "Joining us today are: From the Qazox News-Press- Jason Wood; from the SaxerVilla Sun- Erica Sandoval; from the Lake Porter City Herald, Greg Tanner and finally, making a return after a 2 month maternity absence the Mother of all times, Regina Nash of the Fromburg Free Press. 5 topics, 1 winner, let's go!

First topic: Qazox escaped with a 15-10 win over lightly regarded Rouge Pioneers, behind 5 field goals from Oliver Muadh, including two from 50-plus in the first half. Regina, Qazox' offense just sputtered every drive that reached enemy territory, leading to a dismal 4-12 on 3rd downs and only one possession inside the 20. So who's the most to blame for the ineptitude of the offense?"

It's Eric Reed's fault. (+1) 14 of 36 for only 194 yards (+1) and two fumbles, the first that set up Rouge Pioneers at their own 11 (+1). Luckily for him, they only got a FG out of that. (+1) Reed and the Sharks were luckier that the defense forced 4 turnovers (+1) or else they would have lost.

I agree with you there Regina, Reed's played like a sack of potatoes since he got the job 2 years ago.(+1) He was sacked 4 times today (+1) and at times looked extremely tentative. This type of offense just isn't suiting him and the quicker Coach Harper finds a replacement, the better Qazox will be. (+1)

I don't agree with either of you. It was all on Coach Harper's shoulders, and frankly he blew it. He called conservative plays on almost every 1st and ten (+1) (+1), as Qazox averaged only 3.1 yards on 1st down. (+1) Little check down passes to Bradford or West out of the backfield on at least four 2nd and long plays (+1) (+1). You're not going to win a World Bowl dinking and dunking your way downfield with passes to the backs. (+1) (+1) (+1).

It was a combination of a less-than-impressive QB and a sacred coach (+1) (+1) (+1) (+1). Coach Harper had Qazox play scared gridiron. Only 7 of Reed's pass attempts were over 20 yards (+1) (+1). He did complete 6 of those passes, but everything else was to the backs or little 5-6 yards crosses to Ryan King or 10-yard ins to the wideouts (+1)(+1)(+1).

So what changes would you make to get Qazox' offense back on track?

I'd open up the passing game a bit more, Alan Mordred's 6' 2" and is the fastest offensive player. (+1) Heave up a long ball or two towards him and let him go up and get it. (+1)

I agree with Greg here, go deep once in a while, and run some no-huddle.

Use Ian West more in the run game. He had only 12 carries last night (+1). Yes he had 98 yards, but 35 of those came on the next to last play after a linebacker slipped, and he was barely used as a running back once the Sharks crossed the 50. (+1)(+1)

I'd like to see how good Jim Zebow is, but for some reason Coach Harper kept Reed. Zebow out performed him in camp, according to most of the scouts there (+1). Not that Reed isn't a good QB, but Zebow has a better arm and can run a bit as well.(+1)

So is there a QB controversy with the Sharks, yes or no, we only have 30 seconds left for this segment.

Not yet

yes

No

No

Ok so after the first topic:
Greg: 10
Erica: 9
Regina: 8
Jason: 5

After the break, Is Qazox making a mistake trying to host the WBC so soon after an underwhelming IBC?

Here is the Sea Dragons Roster for WB18. Yes I do know it is a baseball roster. Yea that is a bit crazy. Yes, There is a reason.

Having been sent to compete in second-rate baseball tournament, these Se Dragons are shocked to discover they are supposed to be playing Football and even more shocked to find out that they have no choice but compete - in their baseball unis. This ought to be interesting.

Do anything but kill my players.

The Sea Dragons managed to drag themselves, some quite literally, to the locker room following the 17-30 loss to Darmen in the World Bowl qualifiers. It had been a brutally painful outing as they players had not only given up size, speed and training but pads as well - for such things were not generally needed in the game of baseball. But yet somehow they had been sent to play football instead. And not the friendly sort of football where you kick the little ball around. This was gridiron football in all its hard-hitting glory. Only Ennieto Elm'risa had any sort of padding as he usually played catcher. But it did manage to save his ribs a few times in his new role as center of the offensive line.

As they sat or laid around with ice covering more body parts than one would have thought possible, 1st baseman/tight end Kitecepu As'turo made a profound observation…

“We did score 17 on them and they are supposed to be one of the top teams in the world. Didn’t know you could throw a football like that Ryhuir.”

“For some damn reason when the player behind the center gets the ball all the guys from the other side try to hit him - hard. You learn to get rid of the ball”

“ Valikado was a surprise. Didn’t know he could play football like that.”

“He can run lie the wind. 181 stolen bases says that. He just outran everyone down the field and managed to catch two in the zone down there.“

“I just hope everyone else doesn’t hit quite so hard/ I need more ice”

The Karditan Ironworkers

Coming mostly from the rough streets of Detrot and Sinsinatti, the Ironworkers are the biggest and the strongest that managed to bash their way onto the national gridiron. They specialize in stopping the other team cold, delivering quick crushing hits that'll make your jaw rattle just watching. They have no particular preference on how to start drives; some call it a lack of focus, we call it flexibility. Passing and running can and will be used on all downs, forcing the opponents to constantly readjust and guess. Of course all pegasus competitors play with their wings tied to be fair.

Home games will be played at the Construction Site, a 107,050-seat "stadium" in Detrot. It isn't a stadium in the traditional sense; it is actually a dirt field with a massive amount of portable bleachers and seated scaffolding that allow for the large capacity. The dirt is forgiving enough that you won't break something every time you land hard, but you're certainly more likely hurt yourself than on a grass field.

Allamunnic States Daily
Special World Bowl 18 Coverage

The Regulars got started against Redaya, and it was a good note to start off on, as they thrashed the newcomers 22-0, and the defense looked as sharp as ever in its first game without former defensive-coordinator Theo Dahlstadt. All things considered, most teams would kill to have their replacement defensive coordinator be Danny Rickenbacker, and Rickenbacker's blitzes and front shifts not only kept the pressure on the Redayan offense, it clearly kept them confused. The team amassed six sacks: one-and-a-half by defensive ends Honorius Waalturs and Archie Wagner each, one by outside linebacker Danley Vicious, and a half each by defensive end Ryan Walkerton, inside linebacker Miles Ryan, nose-tackle Theo Laansur, and safety Jarrett Jackson. The defense also recorded three turnovers: two interceptions, courtesy of corner Andrik Ierunmungur (second quarter) and safety Elias Mourner (fourth quarter). The World Bowl Seventeen Championship MVP does not seem to have lost a step, either.

Equally refreshing was that the offense came out solidly, in an unspectacular but strong showing, putting up three touchdowns. Third-year quarterback Leif Erikson looked more comfortable than ever under-center and directing the offense, and he was responsible for two of those touchdowns; a 4-yard dump-off to halfback Ryan Myers saw the team score late in the first quarter after a steady drive, and he put the Redayans on the ropes with a 23-yard bullet to Mikel Dunn in the endzone. After the first score, field-goal protection wavered for a bit and ruined the PAT, but it turned out for the best as new back-up quarterback John Painter scrambled wide and lobbed the conversion crisply to tight-end Garrett Kelley.

Of course, as many have become used to, the knock-out for the Redayans was in the middle of the fourth quarter, as the Regulars were attempting to run out the clock. However, a particularly vicious block by guard Hanrik Wurfytur and fullback Ole Nurdsunn left a wide-open running lane for Danyl Wyndhorst, who charged up a wide-open middle, broke two tackles, and was off to the races to essentially end Redaya's chances on a 41-yard touchdown run.

"It's a good start," head coach Ryan Smart said after the game. "It was a good warm-up, but the rest of the qualifiers won't be this easy. We got into the groove, now we can start hitting it hard. I was glad to see everyone was on the same page, and didn't seem to be dogging it. You know how it is; it's too easy for a team to get complacent after a championship, and we need to avoid that. No team's ever managed three-in-a-row in any international competition that I know of. We'll be aiming to be the first, then. Underdogs as always, of course," he added with a chuckle.

After going on the road this week, the Regulars will return to home-sweet-home in Thomasburg to face Cassadaigua. Forecasts are predicting heavy snow, and the administrators at Federal Steel Field said they intend to host an outdoor game.

"The plans and schemes of tyrants are broken by many things. They shatter against cliffs of heroic struggle. They rupture on reefs of open resistance. And they are slowly eroded, bit by little bit, on the very beaches where they measure triumph, by countless grains of sand. By the stubborn little decencies of humble little men." -Eric Flint, Belisarius II: In The Heart of Darkness
