"Jimmy! Jimmy! Your friend Tom's here!" came the shout from the kitchen at sixteen-year old James Henderson's house in Freedom's Altar, Yesopalitha. Mrs. Henderson, as usual, was shouting over the din of the music from James's sister's room, the video game noise from James's room, and the rock music from Mr. Henderson's room. Accustomed to having to yell very often, Mrs. Henderson's dulcet tones sliced through the excess noise like a knife through butter and Jimmy was forced to acknowledged with a reply.

"Got it, Mom. Let him know I'll be down in a few, okay?" inquired James, hoping that this would buy him some more time to finish at least the play in his video game.

"Don't be too late!" came the reply, and James let out a sigh of relief. For now, he had enough time to hopefully finish the drive before pausing the game, saving it, and going downstairs to bring his best friend, Tom Ferricks, upstairs.

Frantically pushing buttons, James managed to score a touchdown on the next play, saved the game, and went downstairs. His massive brute of a friend, all six feet two inches, two hundred twenty-five pounds of bulk and muscle, awaited him. Tom playfully fist-bumped James before saying, "You ready to watch the game, bro?"

"What game?" asked James without really thinking. His mind was still on the fact that with the next touchdown in his NSFootball Game on his new gaming machine, he would unlock the Godmodding mode that would let his players be giants while the AI were midgets. Oh how he'd worked touchdown for touchdown for this accomplishment. He was looking forward to more hours on his machine, defeating the computer over and over again.

"Ah, come on, man. I thought you promised me that we were going to watch all the Yesopalitha Flames Gridiron games on your big screen this season, at least until they get knocked out! Did you forget about that?" came the refrain from Tom.

Shoot, James admitted to himself, he had indeed forgotten. Tom preferred real sports, was a big Freedom's Altar fan, and absolutely loved coming over to James's to watch the game on their sixty-inch plasma TV.

"Is it that time already?" countered James, "All right, bro. Let's go watch some Flames ball. Who are they playin' anyway?"

"Some team named TaQud," answered Tom, "Supposed to be easy. Hope Sandil knows what he's doin with Chelak giving him free reign this tournament. Got some toughies in our group, especially Osarius. Need a few warmup games before hitting the big ones, you know?"

Tom was also very good with gridiron lingo. James preferred video game gridiron lingo or regular football lingo, but he had spent enough time with Tom to know what he was talking about.

"All right, let's see how Nicholas and Victor call this one," replied James.

The two sat down in James's room just in time for the coin toss...

Two hours later

It had been roughly two hours since the game began, and the Flames were leading by a narrow score of nine to seven heading into the fourth quarter. It had been entertaining, but both Tom and James were a bit worried by the lackluster performance of the Flames' offense thus far.

"C'mon, Sandil, this is like your only chance to prove that you can handle this kinda pressure. You've gotta get the job done!" stated Tom excitedly to the TV. James thought that, at times, Tom was a bit too excited for something that was going on miles away from your own house, especially when there was no way that the players could hear the kid.

However, as if prompted by Tom himself, on the next play, Sandil Ren found Joshua Ittenheim down the left sideline for a touchdown that put the Flames ahead for good, and overall, won the game.

Tom high-fived James, thanked him for allowing him to come over, and left, with one last word, "Can't wait for the next game, against Backyard Football League, bro! Another easy game to get us ready for the big guns!"

James had to admit that he had had fun, but the Flames team did need some more waking up to do. He didn't even want to know what would happen if this team went up against a defense like the Allamunnic States...

William Dawson, Jason Wilhelm, Jack Desmondain... All great players for their respective teams, all rookies on the international scene, all players who didn't perform up to standard in Falconfar's 10-3 loss at the hands of Tyrienne.

Dawson, the Falconfarian Championships MVP, quintessential pocket passer of the Jurion Champions who had thrived under pressure so well during the Falconfarian season, had a dismal game, going thirteen for twenty-seven for one hundred eighty-nine yards and one costly interception. He looked off-target, out of focus, and quite frankly, lost, being chased by Tyrienne's defenders from time to time, and when he had time to throw, his timing was off with his receivers.

Wilhelm, the pound-it-down-your-throat running back, looked out-of-step. He stumbled on the turf, went down way too easily, and looked more like a high school back than an All-Pro.

Then, there was Desmondain. Never in his career had Jack dropped five passes in one game, especially not when two of them would've been touchdowns. It was a disgrace.

The defense, for certain, had been the cog to keep this team in the game. However, defense, though important, doesn't usually score points.

It was up to Justin Austin to get the different players from different corners of their minds together to form a cohesive team. He didn't care about how many games the Imperials managed to win. No, what mattered to him was not that they won, but that they played together, won and lost together, as a team. As long as they did that, he would've done their job.

He started to write a plan for tomorrow's review of today's game...

For the journey had just begun.

A Slow Burner

Osarius 0 3 7 7 17
B. F. Leagues 0 3 0 7 10

They left it a little late... But in the end, two touchdown passes from Elliot Johnson helped the Firebirds to an opening win against a surprisingly tough Backyard Football Leagues side. The Phoenix quarterback hit Jesus Barrios and Thomas Thompson in the second half to win it for Osarius, in a game that pushed physicality to the limits. The battles between cornerback and receiver were highlights either way, and ultimately, it would appear that the Firebirds secondary may have benefited from their experience and technical skill more than anything, as the Backyard Football Leagues side matched them blow for blow.

Osarius head coach Robert Garbongo said after the match "It was a real test. They really came at us and gave us a bit of a beating. Roughed us up more than we would have expected, since we've got a number of big guys out there." He went on to remark on the leadership shown by senior players on the field in the latter stages of the game, however. "At first I wasn't too pleased about the [Osarian Gridiron Council] directive on squad selection, and 'talent turnover' and whatnot, but I think it's helped us out here today. More experienced heads like Antonio [Martinez] and Joe [Cartagena] on defense have helped to guide the younger guys and keep them calm in clutch situations. Same goes on offense with Fumo [Vunaseki] and Rashad [Jackson]."

When pressed on the topic of Rashad Jackson, Garbongo's usually media-friendly demeanour became noticeably frosty. "He has an important role to play" was pretty much the extent of the conversation. Jackson's fall from grace has been a major talking point in Osarian gridiron this past season, as he went from being a key player to third on the depth chart at his favoured position. The Spartan saw limited snaps against BFL, mainly appearing on third downs -- with a 67% conversion rate -- and picking up an average of just under eleven yards per attempt when returning punts. Despite his questionable form for Shanak last year, Jackson has still secured a contract to play in the Allammunic Gridiron League, with the Vienna Huskies. Former national team head coach and OSN pundit Harold Matterhorn explains his theories on why the former Utica Tiger is still so highly rated.

"It's not hard to see that Rashad has talent. He's compact, fast, cuts well, and is surprisingly strong. He rarely fumbles, and is a versatile player in the backfield, capable of both making and catching passes as well as running the football. His role is not so much as a feature back these days, but as a wildcard player. A guy you can bring in on third downs to do a job. A guy you can line up in a split back formation and genuinely worry the opposition with. Considering Shanak's offensive line has taken a serious hit the past couple seasons, Rashad is in a similar position to Tommy Rhodes in Utica. Undisputed quality, but doesn't have the supporting cast. All this questioning of his ability is premature, and he did well enough against a very physical BFL side to silence a lot of critics I think. Vienna's pass heavy style of play will mean Rashad won't be expected to carry too often, and will likely have an easier time finding lanes. I suspect he'll be very successful there."
- Harold Matterhorn, OSN gridiron pundit

Despite throwing two touchdowns and generally putting in a solid performance, Elliot Johnson was a target for "keyboard critics" -- as he famously referred to a sub-section of vocal Firewood fans during OSAGIF season 18 -- who feel that Utica's Tommy Rhodes would perhaps have fared better against the BFL defense. Johnson was unconcerned, however. "We won. That's all that really matters at the moment." He said, echoing the OGC's general philosophy at the moment. The attitude is likely further reinforced by Garbongo in the locker room before each game, as the Zerabithean knows that if the Firebirds show any signs of struggling early on in the World Bowl, he'll likely find his seat too hot to stay in.

Next up for the Firebirds is a trip to Vettrera, an emerging nation entering in only their second World Bowl. Even with the influx of youth into the Osarian setup, there is considerably more experience in the red, black and gold; this experience will need to manifest itself as extra points on the board. A few names on the Vettrera team sheet will be familiar from international collegiate competition, but without any household names on the opposition, many will expect a routine win for Osarius. Firebirds defensive captain Antonio Martinez offered his thoughts on this attitude. "I never go into a game thinking 'this will be easy' or even 'not as tough as x', because that's how you lose focus and lose games. Focus is key. Winning is the reward for the neverending sacrifice and dedication you put in as a pro athlete." Vettera, however, have a pretty strong offense. The Riptides put up forty-three points against Norther Sunrise Islands, and that kind of number will be a concern for a Firebirds defense which is yet to be really tested. While Garbongo is confident in the Firebirds' strength against an aerial assault -- owing to the prevalence of the passing game in the OSAGIF League -- there will always be doubts about the team's ability to defend against the run. The numbers from OSAGIF 19 suggest that this is a vastly improved area of the team, and perhaps Vettrera's devastating offense can provide the first 'acid test'.

"So you won i see."

"Yeah, but it was only against Bordurian."

"Yeah well your Flexbone seemed to really force them to stop the run, and then when Jeremy Dramona would switch to that spread it would confuse them even more."

"Yeah we ran the ball down their throats, and then threw the ball down their throats and ended by running it down their throats."

"Oh and that play by Oliver Landis, zigging and zagging 50 yards down the field. He had to break like 20 tackles just to do that. To bad he fell at the 20 and you had to settle for the first field goal of the game."

"Dramona found Warener after that and it was pretty much over after that."

"Yeah well, goodluck."

Explorers' Opening Win Signals Greater Emphasis on Defense
WORLD BOWL QUALIFICATION KICKS OFF WITH SHUTOUT OF DEBUTANTES

BNS | unknown, BONGO JOHNSON | Palmer Manning is well-known for being ingenuous. His most famous innovation was a rare offensive formation in which he only sent a fullback on the field. Focusing almost exclusively on offense and with a plethora of top players, he led a raw Explorers team to the World Bowl quarterfinals nine years ago in Delaclava. Three years ago, in Michael VII, amfootball analysts were shocked when 31-year-old megastar Saxon Haugard was sent to the bench, replaced by quarterback Max Rowleigh, the former TU star. With a beefed up defensive line and a pass-heavy offense in his arsenal, Boss Manning led the squad back to the quarters, suffering a close defeat to what is now Franklin Delano Bluth, the former world champions, by a single field goal.
World Bowl Results
Delaclava (No. 15): Quarterfinals
Lost to Sarzonia 17-10
Cassadaigua (No. 16): Octofinals
Lost to German Zerabithea 37-23
Michael VII (No. 17): Quarterfinals
Lost to Bluth Corporation 12-9
What is Boss Manning bringing to the table this time, with the world's best amfootball teams soon to converge in Civil Citizenry? Nothing as innovative as his ideas in the past decade, but his original stance to the game hasn't been stagnant since Michael VII. Previously, Manning relied almost entirely on scoring, but the old generation of offensive stars have past their prime, and as the Citiz' fifth World Bowl campaign gets under way he will rely more on powerful, bulky linemen on both sides of the ball. He will put a greater emphasis on defense and holding down the superb running games that have victimized Citiz defenses all too often in the past.

At least for one game, this new plan seems to be working for the Explorers. Game one is in the books, and Civil Citizenry will head home to Bartewick with a 10-0 shutout behind them. Bongo Johnson, a first-time participant in amfootball competition, had little drive when they had possession of the ball. New quarterback Jimbo Jangles struggled with a two-pronged defensive attack: an aggressive defensive line, captained by Citiz sacks leader Dirk Aldwin-Melrose and Blizzard star Barr Berton; and an agile back line that includes the famous linebacker Drago Jerrell (and even thirty-eight-year-old safety Nelson Kentrell).

Meanwhile on offense, Manning relied heavily on Rowleigh, saving aging fullback Merritt Parkin's energy for future games. Rowleigh did not have a strong game, struggling to adjust to a formation that has fewer available receivers. In past tournaments, Citiz quarterbacks have benefited from the presence of three wideouts and potentially two receivable tight ends. But Cadby Townleigh no longer has the requisite athleticism to be a starter, Devon Morton has lost so much weight that he's now a full-time receiver, and Iram Odell was already so big that he's a tight end who cannot rotate to a wideout position. That leaves fewer targets for Rowleigh, and as accurate as he is, he's not infallible. Forty minutes and two interceptions into the game, he was done for the day, replaced by Haugard, who connected with Wes Corliss for a twelve-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter to put the game away. The throw was reminiscent of the pair's glory days from the past decade, but unless Rowleigh falls into a slump, that may continue to be a thing of the past.

The Boss has never been one to mince words when it comes to expectations and goals, and he agrees that perhaps the biggest tests of the qualification stage will be the two matchups with Franklin Delano Bluth. The meaning is more psychiatric than strategic: losing to the Blutharians three years ago was an emotional defeat, and every returning member of this team feels their number three ranking isn't deserved without at least one trip to the concluding games of the tournament. In reality, the huge political revolution in Bluthland has ravaged even their prestigious amfootball team, and it will likely take years for them to reclaim their recent glory (they reached the final in Michael VII). Just as there's great change going on in the Blutharian team, so, too, is there a sort of revolution occurring in the Explorers' game.

Allamunnic States Daily
Special World Bowl 18 Coverage

Regulars down Dagans

The Regulars of the Allamunnic States and the Dagans of Cassadaigua added another installment to a less-infamous but no-worse-contested rivalry last night at Federal Steel Field in Thomasburg. Snow fell and players at times shivered and stuck their hands in the snow and icy mud, but the game went on, and the Regulars, as usual, were unfazed by the weather and managed to overcome a late deficit to win a nail-biter.

Leif Erikson followed up his strong performance against Redaya with a less-spectacular but no-less-impressive one against the vaunted Dagan secondary. Despite being intercepted once, Erikson also managed to complete 15 of 20 passes for approximately 176 yards. He did not register a touchdown, but managed to be a crucial game-manager and was able to make the conversions the team needed. Meanwhile, Justin Connors booted field-goals of 26-, 32-, and 23-yards while Ole Nurdsunn rushed for a touchdown (a 2-yarder) after a long, drawn-out drive that at times sputtered.

"It was a hand-in-the-mud, grind-it-out kind of game," offensive guard Hanrik Wurfytur said afterwards. "The Dagans are one of the few teams that regularly gives us trouble, and this time was no different. We had to scrape for every yard."

The Regulars had opened the scoring with Connors' field-goal, but the Dagans would be quick to answer, leaving the score tied at the end of the first quarter, 3-3. However, the Dagans struck quickly afterwards, and a well-led drive saw them punch in a 4-yard run midway through the second quarter to leave the Regulars down, 10-3. The Regulars would answer, with Connors knocking in his 23-yarder to close the gap a bit, 10-6 as the half ended.

Of course, the Dagans managed to get the ball moving on the ground once more, despite a bitterly-fought effort by the defense, and, eight minutes into the second half, the Dagans punched in a second touchdown, this one a 1-yard run. They now led 17-6. Luckily, Connors would be able to find range again, and his 32-yarder would close the gap a little further, 17-9.

The Dagans began their next drive looking ready to close out the game, and made it to the 50-yard line early in the fourth quarter. Of course, a sudden reversal saw a sack, a bad snap, and another sack send the Dagans back to their own ten yard line. Their punt was returned to their 25-yard line, but the Regulars sputtered out, and icy conditions saw Connors miss his next field goal.

With time running short, the Dagans hoped to run out the clock, but the cold struck again, and a the tailback skidded in the backfield before being slammed to the turf in their own endzone by Miles Ryan, giving the Regulars a safety and the second-wind they needed to win the game. The fair punt was taken back to the Dagan 45-yard line, and, with time growing thin, Leif Erikson directed a ponderous, but sure-footed drive that saw Ole Nurdsunn punch in the decisive touchdown on a 2-yard run, followed up by Connors' game-winning PAT with less than a minute left. The Dagans made a last heave to the endzone when they got the ball back, but their attempts fell short, and the Regulars would leave the stadium with a win.

"I'm not worried about it," head coach Ryan Smart said. "Frankly, we expected that Cassadaigua was going to challenge us. We faced adversity. They gave us everything they could, and we weathered the storm and hit back. They managed to put together the plays necessary to win, even when it looked bleak. Honestly, I can't see why anyone wouldn't believe in this team."

The Regulars will go on the road for their next match to face Karditan, who currently hold the group lead based on point-differential.

Vitali:Welcome back to circling the Table. After the first topic here are the scores:

Ok so after the first topic:
Jason: 11
Greg: 8
Erica: 7
Regina: 5

Today's second topic, the Sharks 30-7 win over The Icemark. After the struggles in the first game, what was the one big thing that Qazox did in this game that they didn't do in game one, Greg?

They used Ian West as a running back on 2rd downs instead of a recieiver (+1). Qazox went 11/17 on 3rd downs (+1), and West rumbled for 7 of those, 4 on the first TD drive of the game.(+1)(+1)

No it was Coach Harper allowing the team to do what it does best, run a modified no-huddle (+1). Sure West ran for 184 yards, but it was the no-huddle, along with the 3 offsides penalties (+1)(+1) that the Icemark were flagged for during a no-huddle drive that threw them off their game.

Regina?

IToo bad nothing I say gonna make up this deficit, but I'll try anyway. A combination of timely 3rd down conversions, coupled with an offense let off its leash as compared to the Rouge Pioneers game led to this win. (+1)(+1)(+1) And it could have been better. Three dropped passes, two in the endzone (+1)(+1) on the first drive could have tied the game up after the Icemark ran back the opening kickoff; but that small failure only allowed the hosts another couple of drives with the game still in their reach. (+1).

This was one of those games in which Qazox could do nothing wrong, and the Icemark couldn't do anything right. (+1) Sure the Sharks could've won 45-7, but in the 2nd half, why did Coach Harper start calling off the dogs with 3 minutes left in the thrid quarter(+1)(+1)(+1)? Yes Qazox had a 30-7 lead at that point, but there was just enough time for Icemark to make it interesting, so why shut it down?

Quickly Qazox opens up at home Sunday afternoon against the Alpha-bits team, Do the Sharks win by more than a touchdown?

yes

yes

No

yes

Jason: 15
Greg: 12
Regina: 11

Sorry Erica, but I guess that you get to go back covering the QHL pre-season game tonight?

"Well wasn't that a terribly exciting game."

"Is that a hint of sarcasm i detect sir."

"What do you think novice."

"I'll go with a yes."

"Now, the good news is that we won the game. Even if it was an overall uneventful evening, and we did not do anything overly exciting from a future hopeful standpoint."

"Yes sir. It was a great defensive display."

"A great defensive display against a team that hasn't been good since the last time we were good."

"Right you are sir, but perhaps it will give us a boost of confidence for the Cosumar, and the Babbage Islands. And we still have that hopefully close encounter with the Bloodbath generation."

"Yes. Hopefully we can use are games so far to spike forward with brilliance."

"Perhaps."

"What is with us Taeshani's and being overly somewhere between optimistic and radically pessimistic."

"I don't know sir."

"Well....Think about it, and get me a coffee."

"Yes sir."

Khabarovsk Krai upset German Zerabithea in second game.

All but counted out near halftime, Maurycy Maciejewski re-emerged and reached a nice milestone. Maciejewski helped Khabarovsk Krai get off the mat, too. The wide receiver had six catches for 115 yards and Khabarovsk Krai held an offense led by a star quarterback to 2 for 13 on third down in a 20-13 OT victory Saturday, allowing them to assume 1st position in group 1.

Maciejewski had been questionable to return with a sprained right shoulder after getting tripped up on a pass interference play. He had only two catches after the break, but both were for first downs. "Just a mild sprain," Maciejewski said. "It's nothing serious. I wouldn't miss these games for my life."

Samppa Kattilakoski's 56-yard punt return set up Staas Eriksen's go-ahead touchdown run late in the third quarter that tied the scores and Tapani Välimaa added a short scoring run in OT for Khabarovsk Krai (2-0), who topped the group.

"If we finish strong, we'll give ourselves a chance," cornerback Jent van Troost said. "Guys are going to be focused on the opponent at hand."

Maciejewski caught a 55-yarder from Koos Vestergaard to set up a field goal for the game's first score. His 233 yards over 2 games is a national team record.

Robert Shoemaker was 25 for 36 for 229 and a late touchdown pass to Oscar Von Hofenshire for German Zerabithea (1-1), who lie in 3rd place in the group. The veteran Quarterback started his 4th consecutive World Bowl. "Third down was obviously an issue," Shoemaker said. "Very unacceptable. So, I'll start there and I'll stop."

German Zerabithea totaled 6 yards on third down, and didn't convert until late in the fourth quarter. Plus, they were whistled for 109 yards on 10 penalties, including a handful of critical calls in the second half. The teams combined for 21 penalties for 210 yards.

Tackle Cornelius Robin was whistled for consecutive penalties in the fourth quarter, one for holding and another for unsportsmanlike conduct for complaining after barging in during referee Winston Hefferman's call on a live microphone. "I made a bad situation worse," Robin said. "Obviously, you've got to stay composed there. I didn't know the microphone was on."

Khabarovsk Krai won despite an off-game from Vestergaard, who was 15 for 26 for 179 yards with an interception and no touchdowns to end a pair of lengthy streaks. He had gone 107 passes before Nathan Handway's interception in the third quarter, and had thrown at least one TD pass in 10 consecutive games.

Kattilakoski's punt return, plus a personal foul on Chaplin Paul for pushing him while out of bounds, put Khabarovsk Krai at the 12 and set up Eriksen's 1-yard run for a 13-6 lead in the final minute of the third quarter. Two unnecessary roughness calls on linebacker Kamden Brosome put Khabarovsk Krai on the doorstep for Välimaa's 4-yard scoring run in OT.

The teams were a combined 0 for 10 on third down in the first half, with German Zerabithea failing six times, and each totaled just 132 yards.

Maciejewski got behind two safeties on what might have been busted coverage on a 55-yard reception to the 2 to set up a field goal for the game's first score, not long after Donald Ducked was called for roughing the passer call and keeping a drive alive.

Ganon Koradi missed a 45-yard attempt, but connected from 26 and 43 yards late in the first half to give German Zerabithea a 6-3 lead. The first field goal was set up on a David Sanchez partially blocked punt, which resulted in a 21-yarder to the Khabarovsk Krai 39.

Two doctors are in the room of Billy, both are concerned he may never wake again.

"What can we do sir?" the younger of the two asks.

"I don't know" the older one replied. "We've tried everything, but he wont wake from his coma."

The younger doctor went to the near by tv in his room and turned the channel to ZSN. "Maybe some good news on the football field might help."

As he turned to the channel though, they were met with not good news, but bad.

"And that's the game everyone, Khabarovsk Krai has won an upset victory over the Rams in overtime!"

Suddenly, Billy's bed began to shake, the events after this are shaky at best, the only thing he have is the account of a nurse who heard it from out side. This is what she heard.

Billy: AHHHHHHHHH!!!1

Doctors: Ahhhhhhhhh!!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He's angry!

"Grrrr"

He's loud!

"Screaming!"

And he's proud!

Scene of a short fat bald dude running around only wearing the flag of German Zerabithea.

It's the Angry Billy Show!!!1

Billy: Hi, Angry Billy here and welcome to the Angry Billy Show, where I get angry and talk about what went wrong this week in the world of football. And oh boy where do I begin?

Billy: Now while I am not the biggest fan of what happened with that first attempt to do this here Bowl, I was happy knowing that the Rams had another chance to fix things and do better, and they were for a little bit. BUT THEN THIS STINKER AGAINST KHABAROVSK KRAI CAME ALONG!

Billy: "Pants" Ok Billy, save it for the end.... Right, now here are my top 3 things that bothered me about this game.

1. I think we are once again seeing a possible lvl of cockyness coming from the Rams, # 2 team and all, but you guys should of won that game, but this was a wake up call for them I bet. Them numbers don't mean a think when you can't win games like yesterdays.

2. Once again, we are seeing sloppy playing from the players. Even Donald Ducked, a veteran of the team and one of their best players, got caught with a call on roughing the passer. The Rams had 10 penalties for 109 yards, and I can easily see Rogers rolling heads after that game.

3. This is just a general disappointment on the Rams team in general, they got a chance to try again and make things better, and they fell flat on their faces (though I will concede that the defense for the most part did do their job). If the Rams want a second shot at the Championship, they cannot continue to play like this.

Billy: And now, time for the angry recap of today, for those who don't like thoughtful commentary in the media.

GHAHH! ALL THE RAMS HAD TO DO WAS STOP MAKING THE SAME MISTAKES FROM LAST TIME AND LONE AND BEHOLE, THEY GO AND MESS UP AGAIN! TOO MANY PEOPLE WERE DERPING AROUND TOO MANY TIMES AND LOST TO A TEAM THAT THE RAMS SHOULD OF CRUSHED! WHERE IS MY HAPPY CHEESECAKE?!

Billy: "Sweating now" O-ok... well that's all for today.... tune in next time for... the Angry Billy Show....

So....Um....What Now?
After the the "VETTRERA BABBAGE FEDERATION" finished their first domestic league season, many are wondering what's the next sport to be played. Vettrera's National Sport (Basketball) will start their season in the next few days as they hope to have equal success to what Babbage Rules experienced. In World-Bowl news, Vettrera dominated in their first match, but were demolished against Osarius. None of this is unsuspected however, as Vettrera has never really succeeded in both the World Bowl & World Cup. Though they are improving on last year's results, they don't expect to qualify.

Offensive Outburst Against Matting

After a game one win over Space, The Dreadlocks of Thrilledge scored 49 points in a rout of Matting. Quarterback Blastings Thrilledge had a monster game, throwing for 364 yards and four touchdowns, and rushing for 112 yards and a score. Thrilledge's main target was none other than Carl Vincent. The Covello State product had 158 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Tight end Ryan Rutledge and receiver Ishmael Kilpert also had a touchdown apiece. The offense wasn't just through the air as the rushing attack was another strong contributor. Grant Ferguson ran for 91 yards and a score and Justin Dahl ran for 63. The offensive line played superb as the running backs had no trouble finding lanes and Thrilledge didn't feel much pressure in or even out of the pocket. "My big guys just couldn't be beat today," said Thrilledge at the post game press conference, "nobody was gonna get by them. Throwing it, I had time, but more importantly if a play broke down, they blocked up-field for me."

The most exciting play of the game was when A.J. Anderson returned an interception 67 yards for a touchdown killing a Matting drive in the second quarter. Thrilledge played great red zone defense, not allowing a touchdown in three appearances. All 12 of Matting's points came off of field goals and all in the first half. The defense started weak but then turned it up in the second half, not allowing any points and sacking the opposing quarterback four times, two by Terrance Jamison. The defense is looking good, allowing only 25 points in two games.

Tomorrow's game will be against Tryienne, a team, who through two games, is 1-1, losing to Crolacia in their last game 14-13. Tryienne's defense has looked dominant only giving up 17 points so far. Can they stop Blastings and the Thrilledge offense? We'll find out tomorrow.

The Yesopalitha Flames completely dominated Backyard Football League by a score of 26-0 to James and Tom's joy as they watched the dismantling of Backyard Football League's offense from James's TV.

Julia Carter was a beast for the Flames, recording seven tackles behind the line of scrimmage, causing two fumbles, and intercepting a pass. Sandil Ren was dominant once again, distributing the ball to his many receivers, not making bad decisions, and taking care of all the audibles that were needed. Rocky Telmar, with his first season calling line audibles for the Flames, called all the correct ones, keeping Ren clean for the most part of the game.

If there was a series that defined the game, it was midway through the third quarter with BFL having the ball at their own forty, their first time past their own thirty-five. The next play, Red Brune stuffed the BFL QB for a sack. After that, Julia Carter tackled the running back three yards behind the line of scrimmage. This was followed by Carter sacking the quarterback for a ten-yard loss, and just like that, BFL had to punt.

Vettera will be next for the Flames before the Flames gear up for their showdown against Osarius, the Group's leader in terms of seeding.

James and Tom are starting to save up money to perhaps attend the Osarius match.

It seems, though, that Ren, Carter, and company are starting to come together... To the joy of all the Gridiron fans in Yesopalitha.

Eight lines in the Coach's Journal

The good thing? Space was the top-ranked side in their group, and they only lost by a score of 27-7, which it could have been worse.

Another good thing? They scored a nice touchdown with Dawson actually carrying the ball in for a QB sneak.

The team does seem to be getting together, slowly but surely...

Every new team goes through struggles, right?

We have to get better somehow, right?

It is my hope that the team will start "jelling" and finish a nice 5-5.

Seriously.

That'd be nice.

Again? Seriously?
This is getting too Regular

By Jonathan Umadden

There is something about the Karditani national team and defending champions. Some odd magnetism that brings the ever-surging Karditani teams to a screeching halt when faced with a truly experienced foe. In the World Baseball Classic, it usually happens in the Round of 16; our first World Baseball Classic, we are knocked out by defending champs Lycrabon. The most recent World Baseball Classic, we are knocked out by defending champs Zwangzug. But in the World Bowl, it seems we are destined to keep facing the defending champs in the group stage; both of our World Bowl groups have featured the defending repeat champions, the Allamunnic States, as the top seed. And now we will be facing them again.

Our first match with the Regulars was fairly good for our fresh-out-of-the-Baptism team; a 13-6 loss that featured our Ironworkers scoring the first points against the Regulars that tournament. Being the fourth game of the group stage, it was impressive that we had even managed those two field goals against such a powerhouse defense. However, the next match-up didn't fare so well for us. A 27-0 thrashing left the Ironworkers dazed and confused and in awe of just what a championship football team looked like on their A-game. Now the Ironworkers will have a shot at revenge, though it would likely be fairly hollow; the Regulars have this odd obsession with being the underdogs, and us pushing them down in the group standings would only have them inspired to make a "dramatic rise back to the top" to claim a playoff berth that everyone was just sure they wouldn't be able to reach. No, not this time. The time of Allamunnic domination is surely over and they are do for a complete non-qualification for the knockouts. Surely they won't be able to clean it up against a group made mostly of faceless, nameless players from countries no-one has heard of, that would be completely impossible.

A team ranked #1 in the world has never been, nor will ever be, the underdog.

Allamunnic States Daily
Special World Bowl Eighteen Coverage

Let's Never Try That Again

An ill-conceived attempt at 'leveling the playing field' saw a device used that 'ponified' the Allamunnic national team for their game against Karditan. However, unused as the players were to having four legs and no hands (sorry, Lyra), they were not only unable to pass the ball, but apparently kept dropping it as well, running into several other equine-related difficulties.

After being changed back after concluding the trip, head coach Ryan Smart is reported to have said "Yeah, we're never trying that again."

The Allamunnic squad's only score in the 21-7 loss came when Ole Nurdsunn, transformed into a hulking Clydesdale, pretty much flattened the entire Karditani team on a 38-yard run. A few were turned into pegasi, who were then asked to strap-back their wings for the game, as the Karditani team was to do the same. Not that it mattered; Elias Mourner was still unsure as to how to use his new limbs when he finally got changed back.

"I'm still not sure who thought this was a good idea. Species-flipping never ends well," he said, sighing. Mourner did say that he didn't mind having hair back on his head; somehow, he grew a mane while switched, despite being quite bald in his normal shape.

There were other pluses to the incident. Anyone questioning the team's 'masculinity,' such as it is, now has blackmail material. And, of course, pictures of some of the other players have been saved from the incident. One fan remarked that Belle Marquette as a pegasus was even more adorable than normal.

Welcome to Circling the Table, the competitive show of Sports banter and your host John Vitali.

Vitali: "Joining us today are: From the SaxerVilla Sun- Erica Sandoval; from the Lake Porter City Herald, Greg Tanner; from the Gothika Globe Bob Luck and finally from the Rockport Times-Herald, making his debut on CtT, Jack Austin. 5 topics, 1 winner, let's go!

First Topic: Qazox opened their home schedule for World Bowl qualifying with a 20-7 win over Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuk. Eric Reed suffered a shoulder injury late in the game and will miss at least 6 weeks, meaning that he will likely be out until the playoffs, if Qazox gets there. Jim Zebow will get the start at Fantoa on Thursday night. How will Zebow do in his debut, Jack?

Hopefully better than I will. (+1) Zebow's only 23 and in college set records for career yards and TD' s (+1)(+1). But how will that translate into the international game, I don't know. But he's an upgrade over the 32 year old Reed (+1).

And whose records did Zebow break? Eric Reed's (+1)(+1)(+1). Zebow's a once in a lifetime talent (+1) Name me one other Qazoxian QB that has 4.55 speed and a 65-yard arm cannon? (+1)(+1)(+1). While it could be that Zebow can't handle the pressure of the international game, he did play in 3 national championships. (+1)

And he lost two of those games, Erica. (+1)(+1). And in the most recent game he played, he only went 5-23 for just 67 yards and threw 4 int's in an exhibition loss to Sativaville. (+1)(+1) The first time we lost a game to them ever, and Zebow was the main reason why(+1). But I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

I've been Zebow's biggest player-hater, as the kids say. (+1) He's a gunslinger, takes too many sacks, has a funky throwing motion, and has been arrested for DUI. But he's better than Ian West and with him under center, Qazox has turned from a dark horse to a legitimate playoff team. (+1)(+1)(+1). Do I think Zebow's going to be the QB for the next couple of World Bowls.. no, but he'll get us to the playoffs at leat. (+1).

About the next game, at Fantoa, give me a line on Zebow's final stats.

17/27 for 232 yds, 3 TD's
20/31 for 311 yds, 3 TD's, 2 passing & 1 rushing
15/30 for 215 yds, 2TD's, 1 int
16/23 for 265 yds, 2 TDs

Ok. I'll write those down. The closest reporter to Zebow's results will get a 5 point bonus to start their next show. And that's it for the first round. here are the scores:
Erica: 8
Bob: 5
Greg: 5
Jack: 4

Another heartbreaker for the Harvest Mice

Postby Free South Califas » Mon Jul 30, 2012 7:01 am

Free South Califas 16–16 Carmadin (16–19 OT)
CRM	10	0	3	3	3
FSC 7 2 7 0

First quarter:
CRM 34-yd field goal
CRM defensive touchdown (INT)
FSC rushing TD: Ane Santos (3) (2 rushing)

Second quarter:
FSC safety by LDE Fiachra Takala on Carmadin HB

Third quarter:
CRM 45-yd field goal
FSC kick return touchdown by WR Søren Matilda (1)

Fourth quarter:
CRM 17-yd field goal

The passing attack of deep threat QB Tafadzwa Gemini of Coachella fell flat today against Carmadin, who returned hir fourth interception of the World Bowl for a touchdown to take an early lead. Gemini also struggled in the International Gridiron Champions League as Coachella went 1-4-1T against their first international competition. On the other hand, Long Beach halfback/safety Ane Santos is looking good with hir third touchdown of the tournament, and lineman Fiachra Takala of Palmdale registered hir presence with a huge tackle for two points that would later give the Mice a chance in overtime.

Though it is early in WB18 with low expectations for the Harvest Mice, Gemini continues to be relatively disappointing outside of the Free South Califas Gridiron League, where his long bombs dominated in the regular season and reached the semifinals. Some pundits are already clamoring for hir to be replaced by Sunset Cliffs QB Frank Eleanor, who led hir team to the first People's Bowl championship and an impressive 8th place finish in the IGCL at 5-2-1T. Eleanor's style is more versatile, which some observers consider to be an asset against world competition, though hir arm strength and patience in the pocket leave something to be desired, compared to Gemini.

BongoBeat.net - Sports for the 21st Century

FINALLY - vas Deferens boots a miracle to win in overtime

After two heartbreaking losses in group play of World Bowl 18, Bongo Johnson has finally won a game. Tied all the way to the last ticking seconds of overtime, Roberto vas Deferens was set up with a 42-yard field goal to win the match. He booted it and it soared up, up, and a little to the right, doinked off the right Baltimore extension and in. Remarkable game, and we look forward to seeing what the team can do in the rest of the tournament.
