First!!11!!1one!

World Cup fever is about to hit Ko-oren: the Baptism of Fire is past the group phase, the number of teams that will try to win the competition is known, everything is complete except for… the draw itself. In a few days, also this hurdle will be overcome by the hosts: The Babbage Islands and Saugeais. This ‘diamond jubilee’ will be celebrated by 194 nations. Ko-oren is one of eight nations that begin with a K to play in the qualification, and one of seven nations with a dash in the name. Interestingly, it is even one out of two nations both beginning with a K and having a dash in the name, the other begin Kiryu-shi.

The KFA has not even published its roster yet, though some surprises are expected, as far as surprises are still surprises when they are expected. The exact nature of these now-called pseudo-surprises is still unknown, which warrants the ‘surprise’ label. Anyway, the NT is slowly aging, and some older players are expected to make way for some new players, especially those that showcased their abilities at the Di Bradini Cup.

For the first (?) time in history, the referees of the WC are disputed. Nations are even sending in their own suggestions, though Ko-oren has not yet done so. Maybe THIS is the surprise of the Ko-orenite Football Association? One can only guess!

Ko-oren will take on some of the following tongue-twisters: Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuk, Daedric Stellar Empire, Kagdazka and Pazhujebu, Puhalux Ezocafi Nzojug and so on. One can only hope for the wellbeing of the (fingers of the) KSN staff. We are already hoping to be drawn into a group with nations like Wight, TUFM, Terio, TaQud, Tales, Mu Mu, Maron and Jedi. Though Sørøya is not so long of a name, the Alt-code-department of the KSN and reportedly even the KFA are already researching the curious letter in here. Is S</>r</>ya ok? Or Soroya, S/or/oya, etc…

KSN Poll:
Q. What will Ko-oren pull off?

A. WC Qualification: 6%
CoH Qualification: 60%
Nothing, but still 3rd/4th: 20%
5th/6th: 13%
7th or lower: 1%

From manager Kim Soo-Bak's press conference:

We are going into our first World Cup. We may not get past the group stage, but this is more than just winning or losing. This is a chance to redeem ourselves. A chance to show the world that we deserve to be here. We can. People say, "New nations never go far." "You don't have a reputation in NS Sports." Yes, we are a new nation. Yes, we may not be so popular. But we have the determination, the drive to win, and to make our country proud. And with that, I cap off the press conference.

History is overrated. History is written by the winners and rarely by the losers. But rarely does history remain hidden forever. Recent discoveries have called into question almost everything that we know about the early days of Qazoxian history. While independent confirmation of the events that are now being called into question have yet to be completed; the recent discoveries found by the Northland Territory University Archeology Department will more than likely call into question almost everything we knew about Qazox' founding father Goran Oxfeld.

Be WarnedwestSpaams Back!

As the world cup moves into it's 60's there's been a new lease of life for an old 2 time runner-up. Ok not exactly. Homelands Our during CoH 51 - after not being invited and having nothing better to do - invaded the western part of the former finalists and took over it! This western part of Spaam never got any autonomous football like their eastern counterparts so in retrospect we don't expect 300 year olds to be great. Wait.. there... dead! Anyway nobody exactly know weather the following scandals were the wests fault or not.
Spaamgate
East Spaam withdrawing from the World Cup to let Spaam in.
We bet that the second one was because the easts was frightened that Spaam would give their team to the west! Spaamgate we all know and don't love. So two of the most controversial moments in world cup history have came from our new colony, what's the chances of that happening again. So our new colony may have a history, but don't think that it will be recreated over the next few decades.

As the world cup moves into it's 60's will any tournaments be played on our soil in the next 40 years? For those of you that are under a day old I could rephrase that to the next 10 world cup cycles. Well we will put forward numerous bids for the next BoFs and may bid for a CoH later in the next 40 years. No world cup bids for us in the next decade however! It is customary for new hosts to begin with the BoF so we will try this out, if it does not work then, hello CoH. Football fans across the country may celebrate after this news. I must however stress to these fans that we may not win the bid! We need to focus on our playing for the next thousand decades (in time (not world cups))!

40 years until the above is rewritten, may the 60's be a good decade for all.

Football Fever Strikes Cambazooty
Comets to set the World Cup on fire

ASTRUS, CAMBAZOOTY - It took years before the Wänchibe crew could say it on this day, but we can finally let it out: It's that time of year again.

From the bustling city of Astrus to the remote village of Solito, there's only been one way to break down the barriers of conversation in Cambazooty since last month: Mentioning the World Cup.

Or rather, Cambazooty's participation in the World Cup 60 qualifiers. Since the Cambazooty Football Association announced their first foray into international football, fans all over the country have been going bonkers for football. The Cambazooty Super League has always been a ratings behemoth, but the league grabbed its highest ever ratings on the final day of this season (80 million viewers across Cambazooty caught the match between Astrus Athletic and FC Moonrock). Football merchandise has been the big mover of the month, with soccer balls, checkered jerseys and refereeing blindfolds on the top ten of Cambazooty children's wishlists.

"The World Cup announcement has done wonders for the beautiful game," said Michael Akubundu, a footballer playing for Desterburg e.V. and one of the twenty two players chosen to represent the national team. "Just a few minutes ago, there was this nice fellow that let me sign his afro. I never thought that kind of thing was possible, but I guess Cambazooty is a nice place to defy a lot of stuff."

Thomas Jagic, who runs a sportswear store in Astrus, plans to temporarily shut up shop so he could watch the whole tournament. "I'll be off to the Babbage Islands this weekend," he said. "I'm not going to miss a minute of action from Keke and the gang. I've waited too long to watch them play overseas and I won't pass it up this year!"

Astrus Athletic striker Keke Van Haren is set to be the Cambazooty national team's star attraction, with other household names in the lineup including Walter Xing and Angel Jung. - Donovan Mullen

It had been a full three years since the Allamunnic national soccer team had last taken the field in anything other than an exhibition game against an Allamunnic domestic club. Even those hadn't been overly well-attended as, best-case-scenario, soccer would always be third-best in Allamunnic fans' hearts, after, of course, gridiron (where they'd won two world championships and were developing one of the world's most competitive domestic leagues) and hockey (where they'd managed to stay competitive), and, tied, potentially, with lacrosse (where the national team had made five finals appearances and won two of them).

Realistically, in light of the utter lack of respect, at home and abroad, that the national soccer team had received, one could have been forgiven for thinking they had over-achieved; they'd been on the cusp of qualifying for the cup proper last time around, losing a play-in match that kept them from advancing past the qualifying round.

Of course, for Allamunnic Sporting Commissioner Hadley Thornburger, it still hadn't been good enough; the man had increasingly grown into a vocal champion for the less-recognized national teams in the Federation, and, somewhat surprisingly, given the sport's international following, the Allamunnic soccer team, now bearing the same name as the gridiron, hockey, and baseball teams, had become one of them. He had seen to the replacement of the team's previous coach (or manager, depending on one's preference), by no means an incompetent man, with a more aggressive face in Wilhelm Schroeder, who had flipped his predecessor's midfielder-heavy, more conservative approach on its head and moved to a more aggressive 4-3-3 style meant to increase the scoring needed to help the Regulars pull ahead of other teams and maybe make the cup proper.

The team itself remained pretty much the same as it had been for years; the same faces, in many of the same positions, tired of being discounted simply because nobody had heard of them (as national team rules prevented them for playing for any proper club, although there was talk of relaxing the rule for the soccer team as it had been for the baseball team).

The focus, the unity of purpose, and the much looser, freewheeling locker-room culture promoted by Schroeder, though, was new. It had seen the team bond more and more over the previous year and a half since his naming to the head coaching role, and it had seen the team look more and more impressive in practice.

However, it would be at the Sixtieth World Cup that they would be able to see whether or not those changes had paid off. And, for the first time, the nation was truly, properly watching.

Carmadin Linguistics Center

The papers, covered in abstract scribblings, covered the desk. A small carton of fried rice and a cold cup of coffee sat in a corner, dripping soy sauce and brown liquid onto the white paper. Ink blots covered the overlapping sheets. In the center of the desk, a matted, greasy head lay, snoring. This is how the members of the Committee for the Governing and Regulation of the Carmadese Language met head linguist Joyn oh Ahlt.

Careful not to wake the sleeping form, Lehmohn Doh'cheht carefully worked his fingers under the head, and extracted the paper Joyn had fallen asllep working on. Lehmohn had no idea why his boss had called him here, and he hoped that these papers could give him a clue. He held the stained paper up, and read in the untidy scrawl of the head linguist:

Digraphs to simplify-Carmadese

vowels
ch- ?
th- ð, θ, þ
sh-  ʃ, š
kh- x, ?
ng- ŋ
zh- ʒ, ž

"well, dosen't that just clear everything up?"

This meeting was a ridiculous waste of time, he thought. First, called in in the middle of his work shift, just when he had discovered an interesting new language sample. Time to find what all this was about, thought Lehmohn.

"Joyn!"

No answer.

"JOYN!"

No answer.

"JOYN!"

Still nothing.

"JOYN!"

"Я прокинувся! Що ви хочете?"
"I'm awake! What do you want?"

"що з тобою завжди говорив український вранці?"
"What's with you always speaking Ukrainian in the mornings?

"Я знаю чотирнадцяти мовах. וואָלט איר גאַנץ איך רעדן ייִדיש?"
"I know fourteen languages. Would you rather I talk Yiddish?"

"що?!"
What?!

"Я сказав би вам, 'а я говорити на ідиш?'"
"I said, 'would you rather I talk Yiddish'?"

"Just speak Carmadese. Please."

"حسنا، حسنا، أنا سوف. لا حاجة الى الحصول على عمل حتى تصل عن ذلك"
"Alright, alright, I will. No need to get so worked up about it"

"You just stay up at night thinking of ways to annoy us, don't you?"

"Ja"

After everyone was on the same page, in the same language, after long and tedious conversations in many of the world's languages, Joyn sat back.

"Now, I assume you're all wondering why I called you in here. Well, it wasn't to annoy you with languages"

"Huh. Can you even speak Yiddish?"

"Nope, all I can say is 'rather I speak Yiddish?'"

"I hate you. With a burning passion"

"Most people do. Anyway, this meeting is, suprisingly enough, serious. I've got calls, I've deliberated. And it seems that our native language is too complicated, too difficult, to be used widely on the international scale. While we love it, the fact remains that, according to my calculations, the announcers in Emberton for the upcoming Olympics will get approximately 20% of the names right. So, it seems we need some simplification, or at least ease of pronunciation. And, as always, the job has fallen on our shoulders"

Lehmohn Doh'cheht, who was often called Lemon Dochet by non-Carmadese speakers, spoke his worries

"I won't be called Lemon, will I?"

"Oh god no. No, I was thinking a new alphabet. The digraphs, the apostrophes and complications, it's too much. I had started making a list of possible signs for digraphs and such. I think we should shoot that out of the way first, as the vowels are going to be haaaaard."

"man, you just jumped right into this, didn't you?"

"Yes, we have a goal to finish this, or at least finish the beginning of it, by the end of the year"

"That paper, with the digraphs, would that perhaps be this?"

Lehmohn held out the paper he had seen earlier. The list of symbols and the digraphs they would simplify stared them all in the face.

ch- ?
th- ð, θ, þ
sh-  ʃ, š
kh- x, ?
ng- ŋ
zh- ʒ, ž

"These are the digraphs used in Carmadese, as you all well know. Now, the symbols I've written are letters we can use to represent them. The question marks are where I my tired mind can't think of symbols. Now, if everybody can please take a copy, meditate on this, and we'll discuss tommorow. Try to find Characters, single characters, for "ch" and "kh". And now, if you'll excuse me, I need a shower"

"You can say that again"

I want this plot to be somewhat interactive. If anybody has opinions or suggestions, please TG them to me. Right now, I would especially be looking for:

Single Characters that represent the kh sound
An opinion on which of the following characters to use for the zh sound: ʒ or ž

Open RP Opportunity

Do you have an ambitious company that wants to market to a worldwide audience? Send your company's name, together with a short slogan, a not-too-large logo (.jpg or .png), or both, by TG only to either Saugeais or The Babbage Islands. Both of us will be running a sponsor ad with each of our cutoffs throughout the tournament.

Submitting a prospective World Cup sponsor in this fashion will receive a bonus equal to one-half a daily RP maximum, in addition to your ordinary roster and RP bonuses. Limit one sponsor bonus per nation. You may submit more than one company for the added exposure, but it will not enhance your bonus. Also, whether or not we run your ad has no bearing on your bonus--everyone gets an equal shot here.

Note that certain slots are already sold to companies from the host nations.

Announcer: And now the moment you have all been waiting for…

It’s the Down & Out Show with your hosts Errant Dow’naithe and Kibber Ou’transco!

Down: And welcome to the first of many shows where we will discuss anything and everything that is Sea Dragon Footy along with some insight into other sports as well.

Out: Wasn’t that your voice in the intro? What sense does that make? I mean how many people go through all that just to introduce themselves?

Down: we are a new show on public radio. That means low budget. We couldn’t afford an announcer.

Out: Seriously? I guess we are a shitty little show then.

Down: You cant say shitty on the air!

Out: That’s 50 bucks. Hand it over. Told you I could make you swear on the air.

Down: but you… you… damn. You did didn’t you?

Out: That’s 50 more for the double or nothing. Twice in less than five minutes. What kind of radio host are you anyway?

Down: You suck. Let’s talk of the Sea Dragons and their friendly match in Errion Vega against The Babbage Islands.

Out: Why? The, lets be politically correct, co-ed squad from ASMV played a boring friendly match with some idiots in yellow and black that could only talk of sportsmanship and other mamby-pamby bullshit after the boredom of 90 minutes was over.

Down: That was politically correct? And you cursed again.

Out: I’m a liberal. And bullshit is not a curse word when used as a noun. Only when it is used as an exclamation.

Down: I’m pretty sure that is BS. And you mentioned co-ed footy like it’s a bad thing.

Out: bad thing? Nope. Its far worse than that. Co-ed footy is the beginning of the apocalypse.

Down: it is not. And both squads are co-ed. And both securely into the list of better squads in the world. What have you got to say about that?

Out: …

Down: What have you got to say about that? Are you listening to me?

Out: nope

Down: Was the question too hard for you to answer?

Out: Nope. Just trying to open this damn pack of cigarettes. I hate these new child proof boxes. Got a knife?

Down: No. I cant believe you are going to smoke while we do the show. We don’t promote smoking on this show.

Out: You don’t promote smoking. I most certainly do promote smoking on this show… and drinking as well.

Down: Oh Mitrin Vega. I think we need a commercial.

Out: I think I need a beer.

*****

Down: …and it seemed as if Kylek couldn’t get past Sxoboda as he worked forward..,

Out: thanks for making my point.

Down: And what point would that be?

Out: About how women are bad for footy.

Down: If anything I proved you wrong. Svoboda shut down one of the best attacking midfielders in the world.

Out: She did not.

Down: She did too. Kylek couldn’t get past her.

Out: Wrong. Kylek wouldn’t get past her. He wanted to stay behind her so he could check out her ass.

Down: That is the most foolish thing you have said all day.

Out: Why is it foolish? She has a nice ass.

Down: What have I gotten myself into?

*****

Out: Where is that clean up kid with my beer?

Down: You sent the kid after a beer? You’re incorrigible.

Out: I gave him 20 bucks. Should have been plenty.

Down: You sent him to buy beer? He’s not old enough.

Out: How old do you have to be to grab a six pack and toss a 20 on the counter as you run out?

Down: Oh Dear God. And thankfully our time has just run out. We will, we hope, be back again tomorrow at the same time.

Out: Now I just have to find that damn kid and my beer

Down: this has been Down & Out.

"I calculate the chances of us winning this tournament at around 0,00027%. I don't see what's the point of even trying", says the red, round robot.

"That's why I am the boss and you're an idiot!" - replies the good doctor. "It's all part of the plan."

"Plan?"

"My research shows that the high ranking nations have a greater chance of succeeding in the championships. Therefore, we need to keep gaining ranking points to eventually reach the top. To do that, we need to participate!"

"Sir, I think you're mistaken cause and consequence-"

The rotund man pulls his mustache and starts posturing, completely ignoring the reaction of the robot.

"And when we reach the top ranks, the other countries will pay attention to us. We will have enough pull to host a championship, and eventually all of them. When that happens, we can take over all of NationStates football! Hohohohoho! Onward to total domination, my rob- are you even listening?"

The red robot had turned itself off and reverted to its compact shape, a ball.

"Well... have it your way."

Eggman takes distance and kicks the robot, forgetting it was made of metal.

"Ow! ow ow ow ow ow! Useless robot!"
When referring to this nation, please call it "Eggman Empire", thank you.

The Torisakia News

Ice Birds awaiting group draw

The Ice Birds are now awaiting the group draw for the World Cup 60. The team has been preparing for the tournament for weeks. They now feel that they are ready for anything. With a team full of great players, it will be exciting to see what group they will be in and with. The World Cup is one of the most popular sports tournaments in the NS world, and the Ice Birds are honored to be part of it. The player to watch out for on this Ice Bird team is ST Johnny Kelso, who is the #1 player in Torisakia right now. He averages 2 goals every 3 or so games. He plays for the ASFC Criminals in Torisakia who went undefeated this season and won 3 championships in a row. The Ice Birds are currently having new uniforms made and will be revealed this weekend. Torisakia is in better hopes of doing good in this tournament after their bad performance in other World Cups, even when they were Teinohikira. The group draw will be June 1st, on that day the Ice Birds schedule will be released. It's going to be great to see who Torisakia gets to play and if they have a chance at qualifying. There are many nations in this tournament who have played against Torisakia in other sporting events. Anyways, the Ice Birds preparation for World Cup 60 until their first matchday. Torisakia's participation will help their rank for the next World Cup. They now have a better chance at playing good on the pitch. Go Ice Birds!!

Context RP

It had been exactly 6 months after the sixteen people/robots/hand puppets/other things had arrived on the defence station, and all had gone reasonably well. Despite the change of setting, everyone had similar personalities: Rimmer still being a smeghead; the Toaster offering incessant rounds of toast at every available moment and Kryten's main excitement being doing the laundry. They found a wealth of food in a large container at the opposite end of the station, which was quite a walk from the 'sleeping quarters', so the food supply was safe for a while. All was good.

It was the morning of March the 13th, and Lister had just woken up to a cold draft coming in through the door. He had gotten used to the harsher conditions out to sea. Keyten had walked in with a basket of laundry.

"Ah, good morning Mr. Lister, sir. Want some breakfast?"

"In a bit. Anything interesting in the mail?"

"I haven't checked. Hold on."

Kryten went outside with Lister to the very front of the station. While Kryten got the mail out of the small mailbox, which was stuffed with letters and packages, Lister looked south, towards Ipeland, 15 kilometers away. The sea was calm and still. A soft breeze blew by. He looked behind him. Kryten had finished unloading the mail, and was a few yards away, beckoning Lister towards him. Begrudgingly, as he was beginning to enjoy watching the sea for some reason, he walked towards the far building, following Kryten, who had decided to take the long way round, instead of the shortcut, which didn't make much of a difference anyway.

He arrived at the building, just as Kryten was opening the second to last piece of the mail. He tossed it into the pile where all the junk mail went, and reached the last letter. It was bulky in size, much bigger than most other letters. On the front, in stereotypical typed font was

'Dave Lister,
Defence Station IV,
The Sea,
Atlantian Oceania'

Interested, Lister opened the letter and scanned it quickly.

"Turns out there's a World Cup. Hmm, interesting." Lister put down the letter. "And we've been invited"

"By who?" Kryten responded, not looking away from the laundry.

"The IFA apparently. They saw us beat them and thought they would we would be good in the World Cup, so they invited us to join them in competing. Home and away games, so a lot of traveling. We only need some turf, some seats and some bricks to make the home stadium. Seems like a good opportunity."

"Whatever you say, sir. What's the other part?"

Lister picked the other piece of paper.

"Smegging hell, it the participants. I've never heard of any of these. Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuk, JonathanAtopia, Unibot. I mean who the smeg is Hutt River."

"That's us, sir."

"Oh. We're gonna have to build a stadium then. But how. We've got little money. I mean we've got bricks in one those crates, but what about the turf and seats."

"We could hold a fundraiser match. Like against the Ipeland team, or something like that."

"Krytie, you are a genius. I'll get arranging. Coming?"

"No, I'll stay here and do the sheets."

"See you in a few hours then. And don't tell that smeghead Rimmer where I'm going. If you do, he'll do something bad. I know his little smegging mind."

Just dis liddle device which would, for de durashun of World Cup 60, allow any participant in de tournament, to use Dreamed Realm technology to create de team of choice. It has de built-in obselescence so it cannot be used after de tournament, and it has de self-destruct mechanism so any attempt to break it und discover de sekrets vill fail."

"But that's brilliant!"

"Ack; it is having no practical use."

"But it would allow us to celebrate World Cup 60 by allowing any participating team to create - for one tournament only - a Holy Empire-style squad; however unusual, however reality-bending, however seemingly - but not quite - mundane."

"Und dis is de good thing?"

"Well, it's not a bad thing."

"Ah vell... if you is saying so. I know liddle of dese things. Perhaps you vould also like to be seeing my new Sviss Army tennis ball?"
Τί ἐστιν ἀλήθεια?

Farfadillis prepares for WC 60, for the first time.

The time's got here. Farfadillis has finally signed up for its first World Cup. We have finally left the regional cup which we won't attend this year to try and qualify for the group stages (for which we have high hopes for).
There's still a long way to go, but everyone's trusting on O'Rosso, Fragreda and Numbá (mainly) to make our way towards the grouo stages, which are our main objective right now considering our nation's organization isn't the best regardless of someof our exceptional talents.
Everything's going well right now, passages bought, no player is out or form or injured, and everyone in the team believes in their chances.
According to the president of the FFFF (Farfadillis' Football Association) Jokelio Mingüen our progress on this WC will determine if we'll keep on participating or just continue playing the regionals. On a side note, rumours has it this will be Saindí's last matches with the national team, and Yung Chingsua wil replace him afterwards.

"You're sure this was requested by the Starblaydia Football Association?"

"Yes, Juan," Simeone said, folding his arms, "SFA aproved."

"Because the application form looked like it was written in handwriting suspiciously close to yours."

"It's World Cup 60," Simeone replied, eyes fixed on the glowing pool of energy that flowed down like a curtain from the top side of the object best described as an obsidian doorframe, "and the SFA have decided to take up The Holy Empire's offer of a team of Dreamed Realm-imagined Starblaydi simulacrum to celebrate this fact. Probably because they didn't win the hosting rights and haven't fielded a team at senior international football for about a decade, or something."

"And the 'S' of 'SFA' stands for Starblaydi," Jaun said with raised eyebrows, "not 'Simeone'. Right?"

"Quiet, Juan, this could be a big moment in Starblaydi World Cup history."

"So tell me again," Juan Tzimisces said patiently, "quite how you've asked that oneirologist to 'program' this team selection?"

Simeone sighed, as he'd explained this at least three times to Juan already. He felt this time, however, it was important, as if someone was actually listening, so he continued.

"Well, frst of all I thought about a team just composed of me. They did chant about dreaming of a 'team of SDBs' once. That was quickly turned into a team of STDs by the opposition, though, so I decided against that. Then I thought about some sort of Starblaydi All-Time Eleven, but that was too difficult to choose between squads for the five World Cup, six AOCAF, two Under-21 and the Olympics that Starblaydia have won. Up until this point in history, at least," Simeone smiled knowingly at Juan, because the way time worked in the Dreamed Realm it was possible to know the outcome of every tournament ever, all at once. "so I asked the oneirologists to select me one based on some simple criteria."

"Which were?" Juan asked, "You never mentioned them."

"I wanted players who the entire nation could get behind. I wanted to represent Starblaydia, Nemya, Nova Britannicus, Aquiliana, Karak D'Ragh and Yánataurë, so everyone in the nation has at least one person to root for, man, woman, Dwarf or Elf. I asked for players who were around when Starblaydia was great, when the national team's drive was at its highest and we surged along on as a white and purple tide."

Juan looked enigmatic, as ever. He always seemed to look enigmatic, generally because Simeone couldn't really decipher any other emotion from Juan's body language or facial expressions. Simeone had been handed the little device as if he'd been supposed to know what to do with it. In the end he'd had to go and find an oneirologist or two and ply them with the offer of a signed Holy Empire shirt for their troubles.

The worst thing was it wasn't even his signature they wanted. For some reason Ug-Ug's ungainly scrawl that adorned the golden jersey was now in the possession of the oneirologist who had operated the device for him. The obsidian doorway with its curtain of energy was just for his benefit, he imagined, as the Dreamed Realm natives still tried to make things consistent with what his 'mundy mind' would term 'reality'. The worst part was, for all their patronising, they were probably right.

Everything was ready, and Simeone just needed to push the button on the device. He looked at Juan, who looked back at him, expression undreadable as ever.

Simeone pressed the button.

Squad Revealed, Thoughts and Facts Next.

Phew, that was an intense day at the Harloop National but all went as expected and the team that will represent us is exactly as predicted by the bookies. We will now take a more in-depth look at all of the first XI, subs and the manager.

GK-1-Andrew Herkison
Our mostly reliable goalie returns once more. Herkison established himself long ago as our first choice keeper. Their was however some doubt him being number one with the challenge of uncapped Andy Felm present on the subs bench.
The public how has there say

Jeff in Hamilpon "A good choice, the best choice, why was their ayt doubt?"
Steve in Choup " Herkison won't take us into these pods. He may however lead us to some success in the CoH."

So the public like him, all good then!

RB-3- David foy
One of the golden oldies in the team, he knowledge could be irreplaceable for the other, younger defenders. His 46 caps include all of the past quall and world cups that we have been in. Will he slow and tier or will he live up to all the hype in possibly his last world cup?

Johnny in Harloop "Once you're in your 30's you are just too old to play on the biggest stage, the world cup."

CB-4-Michael bytersn
It's good to have someone younger. It is also unusual to have someone at his age average more than 1 cap a year every year since he was born. He's a tall man too, so any corners at any end expect him to be there.

Sam in Apfol "He's our future captain, we can't do without him."
Michael in Greenville "The only reason he's in is because there is no one to take his place."

Well we will go back to that in a moment (maybe we won't depend how I feel) but the announcement of the pot's for this weekends draw.

Pot 1 ... Pot 2 ... Pot 3 ... Pot 4 ... Homelands Our ... Pot 5 ...

Yep pot four it is for us, let's have a look at some possibilities

The Equatorial Sarmen national team are a fierce bunch of players looking for success in this world. The team is led by Rob Gilbert, who was elected by the fans to take charge of the team's first World Cup. A documentary person (i.e. me !! Glen Hunt) will take you through the life of a new national football team and will be giving regular updates on the team and how they're doing.

So here I am today in the dressing room of what is planned to be a new era of legendary football teams.
They have developed a dressing room rivalry with Licentiapacisterra, though whether the Eagles share the same animosity is debatable, and the side is hoping for success.

I was able to get an interview with Rob Gilbert to learn more about the team, and what his plans are for the 60th world cup, he said that, "I think that the team will be a big success in the World Cup. Me and the lads have high hopes, but we have to be wary that there are a lot of challenges ahead."

Although the Terminators have high hopes, they are worried about the opposition ahead. They hope to get through qualification and hopefully progress further. With high hopes, the country is looking for them to do something that has never been seen before.

I will keep you updated on all the action, but for now, Rob Gilbert and his team have a lot of work to do...

If I insult your nation at any point during the tournament, don’t take it personally. It’s the IC personality of Tarquin Huffington-Smith, not me hating on your nation.

What the actual hell ?!?! You told me I wouldn’t have to write anything for the World Cup !! What do you mean this is qualifying ?? It’s still the World Cup !! You’ll really get me tickets to the best opera in the multiverse ?? Deal.

Yet again writing about the annoyingly stupid, stupidly annoying world of football, I’m Tarquin Huffington-Smith, the Licentiapacisterran Minister for Culture and (unfortunately) Sport. I’m being forced now to write about the qualifiers for the World Cup, and yet again, they’re full of uncultured, idiotic, maniacal, idiotic, frenzied idiots. And if I am lucky enough to see a nation with even a glimpse of culture, I’ll be packed in a stadium with a lot of sweaty Eagles fans.

I’m in the Babbage Islands again for the draw, and it’s just as uncultured as I remember it. There have been a few moments where I thought this nation had a scrap of culture, but it was quickly dispelled at the sight of a pack of screaming morons wearing shirts with “Svoboda” on the back. I often feel sorry for the people around here, because they don’t realise how much better things could be if they just listened to classical music every once in a while.

I can’t wait until we get knocked out of the Cup, then I can go home, and not have to deal with the horrific nightmare they call football for the rest of my life.
This nation has now been reformed as the Licentian Isles. Please direct anything intended for me to that nation.
