Stork Marksman Rifle Unveiled
Designed by the workers of Stork Armaments, the Stork Marksman Rifle - 5 (SMR-5) is a marksman derivative of the SAR-5 Assault rifle, chambering 7.62x54mmR, and 7.62x51 NATO. The ammunition choices was done in compliance with recent KTO STANAG which utilizes 7.62x51 NATO rounds for the battle rifles
The Stork Marksman Rifle - 5, known as SMR-5, was developed by the workers of Stork Armament Union to answer the Revolutionary Council's demands to replace the aging SSR-40 Rifle in the designated marksman roles. As such, plans were conceptualized to utilize the existing yet reliable platform, all while chambering 7.62x51 ammunition in compliance to the KTO STANAG. Other requirements also require the rifle to be 2 feet at a minimum and ambidextrous for left and right-handed users. The design was finalized by Sir Ominaschi Satsakov, who submitted his design, which gained the worker's council approval. The SMR-5 is a semi-automatic, short-stroke piston, gas-operated, rotating bolt rifle to be used by all Revolutionary Force branches. Its design is based on the SAR-5 Assault rifle, being modified to extend the barrel length and configuring the chamber to fit the required 7.62x51mm ammunition, which was chosen in compliance with the KTO STANAG. The rifle's firing box was also slightly modified, enabling it to fire in single or 3-round bursts, making it ready for any mission involving medium to long range. The SMR-5 has a total length of 36 inches, which extends the barrel length from the original 14.4 inch barrel of the SAR-5 to 18''. Because of its shared design with the SAR-5, the SMR-5 has the same ambidextrous charging handle, making it suitable for both left- and right-handed users. It also utilizes the same feed system, which can pull the piston backwards, all while maintaining the charging handle's position when firing. The rifle also features an extendable stock and Picatinny rails, which can fit various accessories such as a bipod on the lower receiver or telescopic sights based on the user's choice. Made out of polymer, the SMR-5's effective range is over 800 meters, which is enough to enclose the range between assault rifles and sniper rifles. The stock version of the rifle weighs 3.12 kg and utilizes a 20-round box magazine. As for the firing process, once the trigger has been pulled, the firing pin charges the propellant and fires the bullet forward, causing the gas to go into an angled chamber and into the gas tube, pushing the piston backwards. The mechanism of the piston then rotates and pushes the bolt backwards, ejecting the spent casing and loading another ammo into the chamber, all while maintaining the charging handle's position and does not push back from the recoil. With such system, the recoil is focused on the stock, making it easy to control for the users. With its chosen 7.62×51mm ammunition, the rifle's accuracy is remarkable due to its higher ballistic coefficient, which indicates a lower negative acceleration or drag.
2 Warships donated to Armenia
After a vote done by the Union of Party Members Committee, 2 decommissioned Kalingrad-Class Destroyers will be donated to the KTO. The ships in question, JRS Hanriaschan (Hanria Wind) and JRS Surenschan (Sunren's Wind) were about to be scrapped, as the older class of warships were replaced by the newer Gamerov-Class Destroyers. They were saved by the UPMC which decided the fate of the two warships
In response to the recent sinking of Armenian ships at Aursi, the Union of Party Members Committee has decided to donate two warships, specifically the JRS Hanriaschan (Hanria Wind) DDG-40 and JRS Sunrenschan (Sunren's Wind) DDG-41, saving them from being scrapped and giving them a new lease of service. The vessels were part of the 32x Kalingrad-Class sister ships that were deployed with the sole purpose to defend Janpia, being one of the first "modern" warships built for the Revolutionary Navy. The 2 sister ships were constructed in the same drydock at Munschen Shipyard Union, and were launched within the same year. The Kalingrad-Class Destroyer is also considered to be the Revolutionary Navy's first warship with western equipment, as provided by NATO-GSA. Naval experts regarded the warship as "A vessel where the east meets west", as evident from its Russian Voskhod radar, American Mk.92 FCS, TRS-3D air search radar, a mixed array of P-1000 Bazalt launchers and Mk.41 VLS. It also utilizes RIM-116 RAM launchers and Phalanx for close ranges, while its main armament is the AK-130, being the largest modern gun in Janpian arsenal, until it was overtaken by the AGS gun of the Avescho-Class. Just recently, the Revolutionary Navy announces its plans to scrap the 2 ships but was halted by the Union of Party Members Committee, who proposed to lend the 2 sister ships for free. The Revolutionary Council has stated that they are willing to lend in the warships, as long as it does not have the CMS program, missile armaments, and the RIM-116 RAM launchers. The Revolutionary Council has further stated that they will take the liberty to maintain and make the ship sea-worthy once again, all while refitting it for the Armenian Navy.
