Hi guys, did that get your attention?

so I've been thinking about doing a comeback (last one didn't work out so well, sorry Elerian). It'd be consisting of a fairly futuristic setting, consisting of an ongoing conflict between the United Sol Systems (Consisting of the Sol System - Mars, Earth, parts of Venus, Titan, the Moon, Europa and Enceladus; the Cesilus System - Partikos, Athena, and Kalkoi; the Burgundy-4 System - Hestia-1 and Hestia-2; and the Burgundy-5 System - Rome-2, Rome-5 and Ardennes) and a break-off faction called the Free Systems Republic (the Mazzila System - Juniper, Corinth, Arikall; the Hemmastov System - Rasputin, Davillstov Major, Davillstov Minor, Toppinkov; and the Aszera System - Timsaad, Kilo-8, Kilo-3, Lamsturi). There would also be a couple of neutral factions, but they won't play any role in this conflict.

Initially, the United Sol Systems (USS) had control over both their own and the Free Systems Republic (FSR) systems, during the centuries of terraforming and colonization that had been spurred on by the USS' technological and scientific advancements. However, as the USS advanced further and further into the unknown space, colonizing any planets that they deemed to have either a strategic advantage or were suitable to have life, some of the colonies they left behind grew increasingly distant from their government back in the Sol System. Much like empires on Earth in the 18th and 19th Centuries, it's difficult to maintain your control over colonies who want to govern themselves. Eventually, a civil war broke out, with various planets uniting and declaring independence from the USS. In a lengthy and very costly war, the FSR emerged victorious, mainly because not only were their militaries dedicated to their cause, but so were their civilian populace. Occupations by the USS in "re-captured" colonies were met with hostility and insurgencies, and were therefore extremely costly to the USS, who had to put down these various rebellions while maintaining a show of strength to its very own core planets. Eventually, after a decade of conflict, the USS and FSR signed a peace treaty, allowing the breakaway colonies to form their own republic, and forcing the USS to recognize it as a legitimate faction.

Ever since then, the two have been stuck in a Cold War-esque standoff, with a numerous amount of proxy wars being waged on distant planets or on those minor factions' planets. That was until a USS trade ship that was passing near an FSR-controlled system suddenly disappeared without a trace. Vanished into thin air. The USS was hesitant to blame the FSR, in fear of provoking another conflict with the FSR, which had now seen a rapid militarization. Due to this however, the FSR began infringing more and more on USS elements, either flying into USS airspace and disrupting trades or conducting special operations sabotage raids on distant moon facilities, both civilian and military. Since the USS failed to respond to any of these provocations, the FSR then began preparing an attack on the USS-controlled solar system of Burgundy-5, since the FSR assumed the USS would be too weak to respond, and was still recovering from the civil war that had occurred decades earlier. An overwhelming attack was launched, with the planet of Rome-5 being seized within hours of the operation being conducted, and the Ardennes Defense Fleet being wiped out alongside of Rome-5's downfall. Despite this, the USS immediately began a counter-attack, since the planet of Ardennes was too valuable to lose.

This is where we come in.

The entire RP would focus on a company of marines (or various soldiers belonging to either side) who are deployed to the war torn solar system of Burgundy-5, particularly the valuable planet of Ardennes, which is responsible for a large majority of the United Sol Systems' agricultural production and is one of the most populated planets in the USS' control outside of the Sol System. It'd be my usual "boots on the ground" approach to the whole thing.

I'd just need help with fleshing out the idea, etc. but this is what I have so far.

• The Sol System
  
  • Earth (Earth, obviously. Experienced a population boom, "capital" planet of the USS, mostly known for its administrative efforts and various technological advances. Second most populated planet in the Sol System.)
  • Mars (Earth's sister planet, known for its natural beauty. 1st planet colonized, and 1st ever terraformed.
  • Venus (4th planet colonized by the USS, 2nd ever terraformed. Used mostly for its abundant resources, but has a relatively small population versus the rest of the planets in the Sol System due to its still fairly hostile weather and climate.)
  • The Moon (Not really a planet, houses a small civilian population, and has a moderate USS Armed Forces presence. Used mostly as a scientific center for research and technological advancements.)
  • Europa (Originally designated as a military-only planet, eventually evolved to incorporate various civilian populations. At heart however, Europa remains a very militarized planet, with the USS Armed Forces being responsible for a fair amount of a Europan citizen's income.)
  • Titan (Another large population center in the Sol System. A fair portion of Titan remains uninhabited despite centuries of humans living on the planet. It is unknown why.)
  • Enceladus (Much like Titan, Enceladus is also a large population center.)
• The Cesilus System
  
  • Partikos (A run of the mill colonized planet with a large population. Go wild with this one.)
  • Athena (Same with this one.)
  • Kalkoi (And this one too.)
• The Burgundy-4 System
  
  • Hestia-1 (Sizable military presence on this planet. Hestia-1 was one of the planets the USS feared would attempt to break-off both during and after the Wars of the Colonies [the civil war], due to its large population and fair amount of hostility towards the central government on Earth.)
  • Hestia-2 (A run of the mill colonized planet with a large population. Go wild with this one.)
• The Burgundy-5 System
  
  • Rome-2 (Mostly a mining planet, very industrial.)
  • Rome-5 (Home of the Burgundy-5 Defense Fleet, and a key contributor to the USS Armed Forces in terms of ships and manpower.)
  • Ardennes (I'll be doing this one, don't worry.)

• The Mazzila System
  
  • Juniper (One of the main central agricultural hubs for the FSR. Fairly lush planet, with an abundance of natural resources to help feed the FSR's growing population.)
  • Corinth (No need to do Corinth, I did it below as an example.)
  • Arikall (Known as the "Golden Planet" for its sunrises and sunsets. Popular tourist destination within the FSR.)
• The Hemmastov System
  
  • Rasputin (The "scientific" capital of the FSR. Responsible for many of the FSR's advancements in technology and its ability to keep up with the USS technologically.)
  • Davillstov Major (A large population center for the FSR. Really don't care how this one is shaped.)
  • Davillstov Minor (Agricultural producer. Go wild with your imagination on this one. Significantly smaller than Davillstov Major.)
  • Toppinkov (Largest planet in the Hemmastov System. Known for its mountain ranges. Despite its size, its population is not that large.)
• The Aszera System
  
  • Timsaad (A run of the mill colonized planet with a large population. Go wild with this one.)
  • Kilo-8 (Known for the giant valley that completely separates the two sides of the planet. Has rich mineral deposits, but both the USS and FSR have experienced an incredible amount of difficulty on extracting these deposits mainly due the inaccessibility of the deposits.)
  • Kilo-3 (Similar to that of Venus, Kilo-3 has a very hostile environment, but an abundance of minerals and natural metals that are incredibly valuable to the FSR's production, both military and civilian.)
  • Lamsturi (Generic planet. Let your imagination run wild on this one.)
