House Name: El-Andul.
Heraldry:

Allegence Nominally in service to the empire.

Claims and Titles Viceroyalty of Grenada, Suzerain of the Great Houses, and Patriarch of House El-Andul.
House History: Grenada is a land of much complexity with heavy summers, and drenching winters. The heat is as much a part of the land is along with its torrential rain storms. Woodlands adapted to the long dry summers, and strength of what farmable land there is have made people here rather hardy. From this land have come six great houses that rule their perspective lands, and have mostly kept the peace using a pact. This pact forces the children of the current ruler of each house to fight for the right to lead. Some keep the more traditional fight to the death while others have lessened such requirements.

The winners of course will have the heir to the viceroyalty chosen by a second round of combat. 800 years ago this pact sealed the fact of Grenada, and has kept it intact since. Of course outside forces have always conspired to take Grenada, and failed each time. To many this empire is not worth the time of the Grenadians, but rather than face obliteration they chose to allow them in for a price. The taxes paid by those crossing into the viceroyalty help keep many projects afloat. The Grenadians care little for the imperial politics at the capital or there struggles.

Instead they care for the potential threat in the south with the followers of the true way. They have adopted some practices of that faith partially due to cultural exchange, and as a result tend to be focused heavily on hygienic behaviors. With the empire beginning to fail it seems clear to many that a breakaway must be performed. Yet the current Viceroy is loyal if only in some small manners at the moment. This house has had a long storied history, and perhaps one too long for those who want to know the short version.
House Members: Patriarch Hamid El-Andul (age 20).

Aisha El-Vish, Wife of Hamid (age 20).

Grenadian Culture:
* The Great Houses themselves are true political entities bonded not by blood only, but by ties, commitments, obligations, and duties. As such it is the duty of every women to produce children by any means necessary. Should their husbands be unable to do so they seek audiences with men in their court to perform the deed.
* Should husbands be unable to give children to their wives they are permitted to seek other men to do it for them instead.
* Both men, and women organize kidnapping parties to chase after their desired spouse. The more scandalous the affair is the better especially if the kidnapping is done during a wedding.
* Both men, and women can for a price be allowed to have multiple spouses.
* Eunuchs are the preferred type of servants in the courts of the great houses.
* Castration for service in the court is considered an honor by those in the lower classes.
*Types of Clothing include the following.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agbada
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thawb
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agal_(accessory)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jellabiya
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chador
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jilb%C4%81b
*Sacred Groves are created for the use of pleasure, and worship.
*It is acceptable for both men, and women to have harems of anykind.
* If the wife upon the death of her husband is beyond childbearing age she joins the sisterhood of the ash wives. Grey robed women who rub their face in ash, and handle giving rites to the dead, dying, and newborns. In their worship they can choose many ways to serve the three such as medicine or birth delivery. Upon death their bodies are burned as they become one with the cosmos.
* The Grenadians believe the god of three is a corporeal being made of matter, and so are humans, and all of existence. Therefore upon death our souls "die", and rejoin the three in a blissful sleep till an appointed day we can come back into existence. No matter what is done to a body the matter will always be there to allow resurrection.
*To Grenadians the natural world being part of the three view anything "supernatural" as part of the non material world, and thus tainted by the darkness. The Grenadians honor the natural world with dances, feasts, offerings, and much more. Death itself is nothing to fear, and sadness over it is the taint of the non material afflicting humans.
* Wars, and conflicts can be prevented by a series of tournaments to solve the core issue. Often these tournaments are bloody, and spectacular sights meant to show the cost of wars that could fragment the realm.

At the moment I cannot think of anything else.

>>The Pub<<
OP: Anowa
CO-OP(s):

It started innocently enough. A thread on 4chan's /x/ board posing a number of questions relating to the possibility of religious ties to a number of events and happenings in history. This ultimately culminated into contacting several local priests and sisterhoods to get an answer. Though said answers were summarily deemed 'inadequate'. Though a single Anon found out the best way to find an answer, E-Mail the Pope. After waiting nearly a week for a response, they got around three sentences explaining that such questions could not be answered.

Finding such a response to also be 'inadequate', the thread made a plan. In classic 4chan fashion of getting shit done when it's least expected, they decided to break into the Vatican Archives to learn the truth. Unbeknownst to the secrets, artifacts, and souls contained within. Instead, they'll stumble upon a conspiracy that has lasted over 2000 years.

And then they'll be in for an adventure.

Welcome to "Adventures in Shitposting" a story revolving around an intrepid group of shut ins who manage to not only break in to the Vatican's Ancient Archives, but get wrapped up in secrets kept for millennia. Over the course of the RP, the characters are tasked with spreading the news of what they've found across the world in hopes of finally clearing up some clerical errors and outright miscommunications. Their adventure will take them across the world, from Jerusalem to Gary, Indiana, all the while with the opportunity of mystical powers and loot tempt them at every turn, and with the hostility of the various factions trying to stop them following their every step.

Understandably this RP will revolve around the happenings of the Bible, Torah, Koran, and several other holy texts, as well as a number of historical events and unexplained happenings throughout human history, and is not to be taken seriously at all.
1. OP and CO-OP's words are law.
2. I (the OP) reserve the right to kill off your character for stupid actions. I (The OP) also reserve the rights to: deny an app for any reason, retroactively deny an application, or request someone to permanently vacate the thread.
3. Don't be a dick OOCly.
4. Arguments over religious and political happenings and their validity will not be tolerated at all, everyone has a right to believe what they want, and saying someone's wrong for believing something you don't will get you removed from the thread with zero leniency.
4. Poor grammar, spelling, and formatting are valid reasons for denial. As are one liner posts.
5. Keep it clean, noting overly descriptive in terms of violence and no sexual content that wouldn't be kosher in a PG-13 movie.

The Cowls

Image

The world of Nestrica is an cultured, wonderous and dangerous place. Massive metropolises of stone and iron dot the landscape, while tribes of bandits, highwaymen, orcs, elves and dens of wildlife dot the landscape laying off the cobble roads and clear cut crops. All of them risking the lives of those in the villages and hamlets throughout the land directly, while indirectly risking the collapse of the massive cities in which a bulk of the population lives.

Recently, an ancient evil awoke in the far north, an army of the undead and monsters from the underworld threatened to spill forth upon the world. Millions died, many more left refugees or wandering. THe world was on the brink, but then the Gods answered. A single being, half elf, half orc, took the call to strike down the threat that was going to take down the world. So he gathered a collection of followers, set out, and turned the tide alone. This man vanquished the evil, praised as a hero, given a statue in a multitude of cities, and became inducted into the halls of legend.

Turns out he wasn't the only person in the world with a sense of adventure, he was just the only one who wasn't a lazy goober waiting away in a tavern taking contracts stapled onto the board outside.

This is where you come in.

There is no great evil to be conquered, no big bad to strike down, no evil empire out for the blood of millions. You are a Cowl, one of the many adventurers who go out and deal with the stuff that's either too trivial for the guard, to small for the military, or too dangerous for anyone else. At least if you're paid enough. Just a bunch of sell swords on payroll from an adventurer's guild, trying to make ends meet with a somewhat nomadic lifestyle. Have a good one.

0. The rulings of OP and Co-OPs are final.
1. Basic RPing etiquette applies here, no metagaming, no godmodding, generally nothing that isn't acceptable on site.
2. Don't be a knobhead. RP your characters however you want, just keep such behavious in the IC.
3. Treat your posts like a CV, proper grammar and spelling are expected, and don't plaster it with italics and technicolor words, it's an eyesore and a possible health hazard.
4. OP reserves the right to kill your characters. You reserve the right not to complain about it.
5. Poor English skills are grounds for app denial/general removal. I should not have to TG you to find out what you meant in your IC posts.
6. Have fun!
Common Races
  • Humans
Racial Trait(s): Human Accomplishment: You learn things faster than most others.
      Lifespan: 70-80 Years
      Average Size: 5'4-6'2, 120-210 lbs
Typical Appearance: As genetically variable as you.
Derogatory terms: Mayfly, Mutt, Ape, Softskin.
Humans are the most populace of the world, as well as the most diverse. With skin tones ranging from pale beige to a a deep brown, and with hair and eyes an equal array of natural colors. They also happen to be the shortest lived of all species. Humans take pride in their accomplishments, no matter how small, their short lives compared to other races gives them a drive to accomplish things that most other races simply don't have. On the flip side, usually they lack the lifespan to accomplish much outside the realm of normalcy. Magic, enchanting and alchemy typically take to long to learn enough of for humans to put it to use though there have been notable examples, human mages are exceptionally rare. Adding on to this, their general lifestyle and genetic variety make them remarkably generic in terms of power and skill.

  • Halflings
Racial Trait(s): Concentration: Once per day, you can concentrate really hard on something and get a hint.
      +1 to Wisdom
      Lifespan: 80-90 years
      Average Size: 4'1-5'1, 68-120 lbs
Typical Appearance: As genetically variable as a human.
      Derogatory Terms: Larva, Rockfoot.
Halflings are genetically related to humans, though extended periods of remaining on their own has resulted in becoming a wholly separate and distinct race. Halflings are very slow to anger, and are noted for having a rather lengthy patience, and as such are sought out for their skills as archivists, caretakers, and most jobs that require patience and a even demeanor. They typically have the shortcomings of their parent race as a downside, having a marginally longer lifespan, but with the same lack of affinity to the arcane.

  • Orcs
Racial Trait(s): Berserk: Enter a state of berserker rage useful for shrugging off massive lacerations, broken bones, or a stubbed toe.
      Lifespan:1600-1700 years
      Average Size: 6'10-8'0, 270-390 lbs
Typical Appearance: Green to Olive colored skin, black hair, blue to green eyes.
      Derogatory Terms: Greenskin, Clanless, Hog.
One of the many 'elf' races that inhabit the world, Orcs are among the most physically powerful beings on the planet, known for having a rather short temper and brutalistic nature, an Orc made an enemy is one for life. Despite their renown for being unwavering warriors and brutal conquerors, they have a distinct hatred for prolonged suffering, finding things such as torture or needlessly inflicting pain reprehensible, even to the point of physical revulsion. Orcs are also a very communal people, children are raised by the clan as a whole, none go without, and all are seen as equal before the Chief, for all have their experiences, merits, and thoughts, even outside their clans, those who form a bond with an orc should expect next to undying loyalty.

  • High Elves
Racial Trait(s): Enlightened: Gain a better understanding of magic.
      Lifespan:>2000 years
      Average Size: 6'2-6'10, 180-240 lbs
Typical Appearance: Yellow to pale white skin, gold to orange hair, yellow eyes.
Derogatory Terms: Knifeears, Twiggies, High Horse.
The self proclaimed eldest of the elf species, the High Elves a re a notably haughty and pompous bunch, though given they have the longest lifespan it's somewhat justified. Where other races would inevitably wither and die, High Elves maintain a level of accomplishment and history that no other species can come close to. High Elves alive today were among those who first encountere humanity in the far east, and among those inevitably pushed back, and signed the concordats and treaties that stopped a genocide so many years ago. As such many have a slight distaste for humans, though others simply don't have time to maintain said grudges.

  • Wood Elves
Racial Trait(s): Breath of the Wild: using nature's own forces, you can call a nearby predator to your aid.
      Lifespan: 1200-1500 years
      Average Size: 4'11-5'8, 120-170 lbs
Typical Appearance: Mocha to chestnut colored skin, green to brown eyes, brown hair.
      Derogatory Terms: Treehumpers, Ponies, Knifeears
The race of elves that cares little for city life or equestrianship, Wood Elves prefer to keep -as expected- sequestered in the world's massive forests and jungles. Occasionally trading with the smaller hamlets and villages for things they cannot procure easily. Wood elves are praised hunters and trackers, those who lose someone in the woods usually go to them for aid, and as such, most Wood Elves who wander to civilization usually find work as rescue workers. Even tempered and notably calm, Wood Elves are some of the more ignorant of most other cultures, though to no fault of their own, since visits from outside parties come rarely.

  • Drow
Racial Trait(s): Mystic Void: Immune to all forms of Magic, including potions, enchantments, and spells.
      Lifespan: 1100-1200 years
      Average Size: 5'9-6'4, 150-190 lbs
Typical Appearance: Dark grey to black skin, White or black hair, red eyes.
      Derogatory Terms: Hell-Spawn, Demon.
Drow are seen as the lowest of the low in the world's society. Generally thieves, assassins, miscreants and general lowlivers of the world. Drow are most of the time segregated into Drow only establishments and it is rare to have non-segregated buildings anywhere in Nestrica. That being said, the sterotype of being thieves and killers isn't unfounded, Drow are not detectable by any magical defenses and cannot be harmed by them either. As such they make for great infiltrators. Unfortunately they also can't be healed by spells or potions either, making any wound they get a possibly fatal one.

  • Dwarves
Racial Trait(s): Stout: A figurative ball of muscle and alcohol, your constitution is much higher than most others. More tankards for you.
      Lifespan: 300-500 years
      Average Size: 4'5-5'3, 200-360 lbs
      Typical Appearance:
Derogatory Terms: Rockhead, Bearded Woman, Fat Halfling.
Renowned as miners, heavy drinkers, and axe-wielding madmen and women, dwarves are the main cause of demonic presence in Nestrica, though not like one can really blame them, digging too deep has opened up a whole bunch of possibilities. Dwarves are an amiable sort who aren't ones to keep grudges, simple bar fights are quickly forgotten after another round. Dwarves are the kind of folk who'll stick by their friend's side until they venture into the pits of hell, and then be the ones to dig them out, sometimes both literally and figuratively.

  • Gnomes
Racial Trait(s): Ingenius: You have an aptitude for mechanics. Up to you to decide where that takes you.
      Lifespan: 300-400 years
      Average Size: 2'8-4'0 46-87 lbs
Typical Appearance: As genetically varied as humans.
Derogatory Terms: Lawn Ornament, Child Lovers, Pipsqueaks
Gnomes are the result of interspecies breeding between dwarves and halflings, resulting in a rather small and oddly mechanically apt child. Gnomes are known to be a bit mischevious, although anything more severe than simple pranks are rare. Gnomes are also known to be adept innovators, and are usually found wherever dwarves may roam, building machinery, fixing tools, or blasting out massive chunks in caverns.

    Uncommon Races
  • Tieflings (0/1)
Racial Trait(s):Demonic: Your demonic blood wards off other, lesser demons, and those who die around have their soul bound to you to use for mystical workings. You also have an affinity for demonic based magic.
      Lifespan: Infinite
      Average Size: 6'6 - 7'2, 170-220 lbs
Typical Appearance: Cloven digitigrade legs, goatlike horns, pale white to rose colored skin, white hair, white eyes.
      Derogatory Terms: Goat, Hell-Spawn
The result of a union between High Elf maiden and demon, Tieflings are a somewhat trusted species on Nestrica. Their demonic blood often overlooked for their ability to create mystical traps, defenses, and to ward off demons of any sort. Those of a less mystical standing often times find themselves as couriers, due to their leg structure giving them a faster running speed. Of course, most Tieflings adopt the mentality of their mothers, acting rather pompous, with a dash of 'ends justify the means'. That being said, they're also known to be rather caring about life around them.

  • Dragonborn (0/1)
Racial Trait(s): Dragonkin: You are immune to fire damage, can breath fire, gain a natural armor, and can speak and understand draconic.
Mortal Parentage: Due to your mortal parentage you gain the bonus from whomever your mortal parents were.
      Lifespan: Infinite
      Average Size: 6'2 - 6'10, 220-290 lbs
Typical Appearance: Muscular, scaled, with a reasonably sized tail.
      Derogatory Terms: Scaly, Hoarder,
The result of a dragon reconstituting it's soul upon death into developing fetuses, Dragonborn can have as varied a mentality as their mortal parents. Typically Dragonborn adopt both the skills of both mortal parents and through their genetic memory. Reactions to Dragonborn children also wildly vary. Dragonborn are known to have a spirit for adventure and a sense of overpowering wanderlust. They're also rather fond of accumulating wealth.

Magic, the Arcane, Witchcraft, sorcery, whatever you call it, it's all bound by the same rules and practices. Fringe theories explain that magic is simply biological beings manifesting an invisible and unrecognizable energy that permeates the universe, though they are largely ignored and seen as asinine. Instead, the much more accepted theory is that the gods simply want to reward those who put time and effort into studying their artifacts and powers that they gift some of their own.

That leads to some rather tilted statistics. More than 98% of all registered mages, necromancers, wizards, and clerics are elves and similarly long lived races. The remaining two percent are human derived genealogies. This isn't actually a genetic thing, rather those who spend a good portion of their free time studying, or rather become shut ins and spend a good few decades straight, will become viable mages capable of actually casting spells or enchanting things.

It's been a long time since something like this happened in El Paso. We generally like to keep things away from prying eyes, just head out to the pick up in Juárez and then take the stuff to the drop off near Tom Mays park. But some people just can't keep to themselves. You see we're just like any other business, we provide a need for an existing demand. But those thieves in Washington aren't happy with what we're doing. I'd reckon it's because they ain’t profiting off it. Last week our boss was caught up in a scuffle with the Feds near Vinton, him and his boy both got shot up. Now the fishy thing is that no one knew where he was going, the cops arrested the guys buying the Coke, and no one else seems to be on the radar right now. Some of us think we've got a mole in the group. If I was the boss I'd make sure that fuckers dead before he can blow the whistle on anyone else. The Sun City is now our hunting ground, we’re going to find this guy and we’re gonna make sure he can't say another damn word.

Cocaine Cowboys is a Neo-Western Crime RP set in El Paso Texas in 1985. You are a member of a criminal group which makes up an important component of the Mexican-American drug trade as the use of Cocaine starts to blossom in several American cities. Your boss, Venustiano "El Oso" Chávez was recently killed in a DEA Sting, his son and second in command Bolivar was taken into prison. The goal now is to try and make things as normal as possible and pick up the pieces, but you can't seem to figure out how they got the drop on the boss. It's evident that there is a mole in the group, or at the very least the fear of a mole. The group has taken it upon itself to weed out any potential Narcs from within.

Disclaimer
This RP will be rife with mature subject matter and very politically incorrect substance. This is done to make the RP as real to life as possible, sadly things like Homophobia, Transphobia, Sexism, and Racism are very real things in 1980's Texas. While I am not going out of my way to intentionally offend any potential RolePlayer I am trying to create realistic characters. If you find something said or done in this RP distasteful you have been notified beforehand.

•As op I have the right of thread ownership and I reserve the right to practice this right at any time.
•Co-Op's are to be respected, do not argue with them.
•I reserve the right to deny applications for any reason I see fit, same goes for my Co-Op'S
•Keep everything realistic.
•Keep things civil in here, if you have an issue with another player take it to TG's
•Your character will most likely die, be ready to accept that when it happens. If I have slatted your character to die I will inform you beforehand
•Remember this is a crime RP in suburban El Paso, keep that in mind when making characters.

Here's the first finished article I have on the Lore wiki to show my progress on it at this point. I plan on accelerating my work now that I have more of an idea what I'm doing so expect to see more articles comes to completion as we move closer to LoE's release.

Cold Storage
A Tale of the Human Condition

On March 3rd 2019, a joint program between NASA, Roscosmos, JAXA, the ESA and CSA was declared: Patrocles, starting a path to extra-solar exploration. Engine designs, hydroponics, new space age materials and cold storage of both supplies as well as people were avenues all explored. All bore some sort of practical fruit, that is, all but the cold storage and resuscitation of living humans. Cadavers had been used prior, causing no notable tissue damage, and after that animals, with no other notable damage. The scheduled event that was to freeze several volunteers from international selections was halted, 2006 DP14 was discovered on a collision course with Earth in May of 2020.

Avenues of approach were brought up, but no real thought was put into the asteroid actually impacting earth. Though as the days, weeks, months passed, it became more and more concrete that Earth was under a very direct and very serious threat. ICBM usage was jossed about, as was the usage of mass drivers to deflect it, as time went on, even the incredulous thought of a manned mission to destroy it was brought up, but none could have any reliability, much less feasible attainment.

And then, a mere moment of hope. Ironically, Deimos, entered the path of the Asteroid, causing it to fracture, but not disappear. Humanity was now no longer confirmed to it's death sentence, but now, massive chunks were not only confirmed to still be heading into Earth's gravity well, but most likely into a decaying orbit. All humanity had left was time.

On September 14th of 2028, Humanity managed to gain some form of assurance, a massive system of mass drivers located in national countrysides built to destroy as many meteorites as they could to avoid as much damage as possible. On November 30th 2028, an extra step was taken, a number of people, from all walks of life, and all occupations, were entombed in cold storage containers. Inset into the long since decommissioned depths of the Butler County's Iron Mountain Data Center. 340 Men, women, and children were frozen. Only to be awoken at a later date when humanity was safe, or when power ran out.

December 25th, 2028. Humanity's last, honest Christmas, first impact in the East China Sea. Over the next day, hundreds of impacts would rain across Asia and Europe, trailing over to North America and the Atlantic. Billions die in the initial bombardment, many more follow. Within 3 years, Earth's biosphere enters another ice age, the amount of debris in the atmosphere preventing proper temperate changes. It ends after 79 years, altering Earth's biosphere to an unrecognizable degree. Sans those scant few humans that survived on the surface, and the much fewer in their frozen tombs.

The date is now August 18th, 3312. Earth has shifted considerably, many landmarks are now either overgrown, eroded, or occupied by religious tribes. Craters dot the Earth, many deep enough to have volcanic activity. Coastlines have forever changed, raising dramatically compared to the previous level. And deep within the bowels of the Earth, a nuclear fusion reactor finally gives out. Setting an auto release for over 340 Cold Storage pods, their occupants in a dreamless and perception-less sleep for nearly 1300 years, less than a quarter will awake. The rest falling victim to the untested and unused systems, nothing more than withered husks with un-maintained pods. Those that do awake, will be as disoriented as someone literally blinking through time periods.

You are one of those remaining few who have the privilege of waking up.

This is your story.

Mass drivers? Asteroid? Is this Stonehenge?!?
I'd be down to chill on ice for a bit.

The Dark Sea of the Cosmos
An Independent Cylarn Production
An Action/Survival Horror RP with an emphasis in space exploration, naval combat, crew dynamics, and mind-breaking Lovecraftian horror.

I have seen the dark universe yawning
Where the black planets roll without aim,
Where they roll in their horror unheeded,
Without knowledge, or lustre, or name.

H.P. Lovecraft

An Introduction

*** ROGER L. STRAHAM, CAPTAIN OF OSIRUS STATION ***

“Do we own space? To be more specific: do we, humanity at large, lay claim to dominate the entirety of the Milky Way Galaxy? My answer is no.”

“Does that answer surprise you? It definitely should, given that on the veneer of things, we are purportedly the sole form of intelligent life in our galaxy. In almost four-hundred years of space exploration and colonization, we have found prosperity in the stars. We have colonized planets, connected them with Quadrant Gates and FTL travel, launched space stations, and given life to new nations - and our home planet.”

“What we have seen of our galaxy is beauty and mystery. Garden worlds have been discovered, rife with alien flora and fauna - along with the long-forgotten evidence that we are not the first species to live in the Milky Way Galaxy. Buildings of foreign design have been discovered, weathered by time and steadily reclaimed by jungles and deserts and snowy mountains. We have found crashed ships, dried blood, clear signs of strife and confrontation - but no records. Around us were remnants of alien societies that came before us, but no concrete evidence of any other intelligent life.”

“What we found next, after we seemingly conquered the stars, has changed everything. I’m sure that you’re not socially inept, that you know the situation. If not, lemme give you the rundown.”

“There is something else out there, something that is alien way beyond our understanding. Something out on the fringes of colonized space; our frontier in the Perseus Arm. Horrors that we thought to roam the realm of science fiction, capable of manipulating time and space and causing untold, unpredictable destruction for anyone or anything unlucky enough to cross paths with them. We call them “Anomalies,” and while our species has warred amongst ourselves for thousands of years, there are those among us - myself included - who privately fear for the destruction of mankind.”

“We know very little about these creatures, even after five years of consistent encounters, hundred of ships destroyed, five space stations disintegrated with all hands lost, and over a thousand dead. The best way to describe them - the best phrase I have found is “corporeal chaos.” People have reported Anomalous “hellhounds” emerging from angles of light during FTL, tearing apart entire crews in transit before disappearing right back into the ether, leaving nothing but a ghost ship filled with mutilated corpses. I’ve seen naval engagement vids with Anomalies as big as dreadnoughts, slinging fire and tentacles about. Most of what we know comes from wild speculation, drawn-out theories, unconfirmed reports, and - lastly, what's left in the wake. Occasionally there are survivors whose stories change all too often, but most of the time, what's found is twisted wreckage - or nothing but a distress call from a lost ship.”

“Where do they come from? I do not know, but people have reported seeing Anomalies appear at random, unpredictable intervals. It all started four years ago - the disappearances. A freighter passing over to the Frontier would turn up AWOL from time to time. Pirates were the first culprits to get the finger pointed at them, which prompted SolFed to undertake a massive naval operation in the regions where the ships were going missing. Visual confirmation came from the Navy, and pretty soon, we caught on that these creatures were more than some “space monsters.” Pretty soon, it became a crisis.”

“Where did they come from? Were they even from this galaxy, or this universe? Those are just a few of the questions being asked.”

“And besides the Navy and the corporations, who is fighting the Anomalies? It takes a special kind of person to chase a monster, but as long as there is a need for them to be exterminated - and an incentive to fulfill that need, the “Coursers” are the ones stepping up to the plate.”

“Call them mercenaries, cowboys, hunters, or whatever - but they mostly prefer being called Coursers. These guys specialize in hunting, pursuing, and killing Anomalies for a payday. Most Coursers operate with a crew; usually, a large mothership - a “Mount” - with a functioning hangar and cannons will go out with several smaller vessels, often called “Lurchers,” or “Hounds.” Essentially, the Mount will cruise in an area of space while the Lurchers and Hounds patrol around until they find an Anomaly - or until the Anomaly finds them. They'll whittle it down and draw it back towards the Mount, which will then make its move with superior firepower."

“The life of a Courser is not an easy one; then again, any job with a life expectancy lower than that of a colonial advance scout should never be underestimated. Like I said, it takes a certain caliber of person to do this work. That's not me - but if you wish to embrace that life, I’d be damned if I stopped you.”

You might be wondering what this RP might be about, but I hope you caught the gist of what this RP is set around. For starters, this is a character-based RP with a heavy focus on space action and survival horror, drawing heavily for inspiration from the works of H.P. Lovecraft.

Our story revolves around the “Coursers;” semi-legitimate naval vessels that specialize in hunting down space-faring “Anomalies.” Courser ships typically carry large crews in massive, well-armed vessels, capable of holding several smaller vessels for interception. Courser crews typically come from the ranks of military volunteers, enterprising mercenaries, and drifting outcasts - all of them seeking a good payday and legitimacy through dangerous work. Needless to say, Courser work is a line of work in which the unpredictable and the macabre rule supreme.

There are many nations and groups spanning the human-colonized verges of the Milky Way, and Courser vessels are counted among the majority of them. Specifically, our story is that of the SNV Boadicea, an Ishmael-Class Cruiser of the Sol Federal Navy. The Boadicea is a long-range vessel, capable of conducting operations in space for two solar years before needing to arrive at port. Her main priority is to patrol the Perseus Arm for any signs of Anomalous activity, provide assistance to friendly human colonists, and eliminate any and all Anomalies encountered during her voyages.

It is my intention to build her crew from the ground-up. All command roles are opened, from Captain on down, and I encourage players to take on such roles. Multiple characters are allowed - though don't do yourself any unwarranted favors, because that helps nobody.

As for your characters, here's the rundown. You are nominally under the authority of the Sol Federation, the entity that represents the Solar System and its allied colonies. Specifically, you are serving in the Federal Navy - be it as a sworn enlisted or commissioned member, or as someone falling somewhere between “civilian employee” and “mercenary.” Courser duty itself draws in a variety of types from across the galaxy, and even from other units of the Federal Military. All command-level personnel are Sol citizens and career naval officers. The majority of the crews are Sol in origin, though foreigners may occupy specialty roles - such as gunnery stations and Lurcher crews. Though the Boadicea and other Courser ships may fly under a metaphorical Sol flag, they are given a great deal of autonomy in investigating Anomalies and ultimately hunting them down.

The Boadicea is the flagship model of the Ishmael-Class of “Courser” cruisers. Mounted on the Boadicea are four ARES heavy cannons, capable of penetrating the hulls of SolFed’s capital ships. Those guns, along with the turret pods, missile fixtures, and other defensive armaments, make the Boadicea a major threat for Anomalies, pirates, and rogue organizations alike. She sports the latest Icarian FTL drive core, and for a ship of her size, is capable of evading most hostile craft - so long as a capable pilot is at the helm.

As is standard among the Courser ranks, the Boadicea can house six additional ships of smaller size, for usage as utility vehicles - or as Lurchers. The latter are a centerpiece when pursuing the large, space-roaming Anomalies; they are not unlike the whaling boats of yore. Lurchers scout ahead of the main ship, scanning for any signs of an Anomaly, before engaging in such a way as to actually lure the Anomaly towards the Boadicea - within range of her powerful cannons. Despite the horrific powers that Anomalies are capable of, they are only so resistant to heavy firepower.

While I have set the story of the Boadicea in a notable space setting with nautical themes, don't think that everything will take place on the ship. There will be uncharted planets to visit, alien ruins to explore and decipher secrets from. We will play host to the waves of power in the galaxy - all while we fight to maintain our own sanity. As our crew will learn, Anomalies are beings that can defy all explanation and appear when least expected. The aftermath of the Anomalies is horrific, and will be investigated upon. Overall, I hope to balance action with high drama and intense horror.

This is the overall premise, and I hope everyone read over it. Feel free to gloss over the additional sections of information that I have provided.
The Boadicea accommodates a large crew, approximately 350 personnel. Given such a large crew with a variety of duties, a system of work departments has been established, along with hierarchies of command.

BRIDGE/COMMAND DEPARTMENT

This is the team that decides each move that the Boadicea takes. Logistics, alerts, and daily reports all come through the Bridge.

  • Captain:
  • Executive Officer:
  • Navigator:
  • Chief Communications Officer (Yeoman):
  • Pilot:
  • Bridge Staff:

SECURITY DEPARTMENT

As standard, the Boadicea never leaves port without her security team. Consisting of a platoon of Federal Marines trained in the finer points of confined combat and boarding techniques, they're a necessity when unwelcome guests attempt to board. Most of the time, however, they can be jerks. Always have your ID and dogtags on your person.

  • Master-at-Arms:
  • Supervisory Security Officer(s):
  • Security Medical Officer:
  • Security Duty Officer(s):

ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT

Without a competent engineering staff, the Boadicea would likely drift aimlessly before eventually burning up in the Sun. Thankfully, Courser work brings in some valuable engineering expertise from the private sector. Not only that, but Engineers often accompany the other departments whenever a technical crisis arises.

  • Chief Engineer:
  • Atmospheric Engineer(s):
  • Mechanical Engineer(s):
  • Electrical Engineer(s):
  • Maintenance Technician(s):

MEDICAL/RESEARCH DEPARTMENT

The life of a Courser is fraught with both health hazards and scientific gain. This department oversees the state-of-the-art Medbay, along with the Research Wing.

  • Chief Medical Officer:
  • Research Director:
  • General Physician:
  • Scientist(s):
  • Surgeon:
  • Psychiatrist:
  • Nurse(s):

LURCHER GROUP

The “hero” image of a Courser, next to the Gunnery Department. Lurcher is a term referring to the Boadicea's six pursuit craft and their crews. Ranging from gunships to fighters, Lurchers are responsible for making first contact with a threat, and bringing it within range of the big guns.

  • Group Captain:
  • Pilot Officer(s):
  • Supporting Ranks:

GUNNERY DEPARTMENT

The big guns of the Boadicea; sometimes, you have to be louder than the enemy. In addition to the cannons, the Gunnery Department mans the defensive turrets, countermeasure systems, torpedo tubes, and other combat systems aboard the ship. Expect them to be eager to start marking tallies on the hull of the Boadicea.

  • Gunnery Chief:
  • Gunnery Petty Officer:
  • Gunnery Supporting Ranks:

LOGISTICS DEPARTMENT

A boring - but immensely important - department, Logistics manages supply requisitions, meals, and inventory for the Boadicea, a task they insist as being more mentally straining than fighting Anomalies.

  • Quartermaster:
  • Cargo Foreman:
  • Chef:
  • Procurement Master:
  • Kitchen Staff:
  • Cargo Staff:
“Anomalies” are the strange creatures residing within the Milky Way, encountered by humankind during its expansion through the galaxy. They are chaotic in almost every aspect; their inspiration draws heavily from H.P. Lovecraft and related works. As such, encountered anomalies may range from grotesque behemoths that float in the depths of space, time-traveling hellhounds, or conniving parasites that can infiltrate human populations. It is unconfirmed as to whether or not these Anomalies were responsible for extinction-level events throughout the galaxy, but it is widely agreed the the Anomalies are the greatest threat facing human prosperity in the galaxy.

At the beginning of the RP, little is known about Anomalies. What information is known can often be debunked, or disputed, or just isn't in-depth. The term itself is a catch-all; Anomalies come in all shapes and sizes. What is available is a chart of size dimensions for Anomalies by size and relative threat level.

Anomaly Size Classes

Microscopic: 1 mm or less in length/height. Abbreviation Mc, or SC1.

Miniscule: 1.01 mm - 10 cm in length/height. Abbreviation Mi, or SC2.

Small: 10.001 - 50 cm in length/height. Abbreviation S, or SC3.

Kinder: 50 cm - 1.5 m in length/height. Abbreviation K, or SC4.

Medium: 1.51 - 2.5 m in length/height. Abbreviation Me, or SC5.

Large: 2.51 - 5 m in length/height. Abbreviation L, or SC6.

Very Large: 5.01 - 10 m in length/height. Abbreviation VL, or SC7.

Huge: 10.01 - 50 m in length/height. Abbreviation H, or SC8.

Enormous: 51 - 100 m in length/height. Abbreviation E, or SC9.

Massive: 101 - 250 m in length/height. Abbreviation M, or SC10.

Colossal: 251 meters or greater in length/height. Abbreviation C, or SC11.

Anomaly Threat Level Classes

Threat level classes are divided into two categories. The first three all contain microscopic cryptids, the others do not.

Keter: The highest threat level, describes beings capable of wiping out humanity easily unless acted upon immediately. Differs from Chokhmah-class in that Keter-class Anomalies usually have intelligence superior to humans, as opposed to equal or lesser for Chokhmah-class Anomalies. Self-replicating, ecophagic microscopic Anomalies are often classified as Keter, as are microscopic Anomalies with an intelligent hive mind hostile to human life. No Keter-class Anomalies have ever been acknowledged by any human governments, though numerous sightings have been claimed. Abbreviated as K-class.

Chokhmah: Anomalies capable of wiping out humanity unless acted upon immediately. Differs from Keter class in that Chokmah-class Anomalies usually have intelligence equal or lesser than humans. Most microscopic Anomalies are either Chokhmah- or Binah-class; most microscopic Anomalies with a hive mind are Chokhmah, as are ones that are considered more likely to trigger a pandemic. Any Anomaly capable of controlling massive numbers (1 million+) of humans is Chokhmah or above. Abbreviated as C-class.

Binah: Anomalies capable of wiping out humanity unless contained/reduced in number. Microscopic Anomalies of this class are less prone to pandemics than Chokhmah-classes, and while some can form colonies, most do not. Macroscopic Binah-class Anomalies are as a rule animalistic in intelligence, inferior to both Chokhmah- and Keter-class Anomalies. Abbreviated as B-class.

Hod: Anomalies not capable of wiping out humanity, but nevertheless capable of causing significant damage to the population unless controlled or reduced in number. Typically macroscopic, with low intelligence but large size. Abbreviated as H-class

Malkuth: Anomalies capable of destroying large ships or menacing isolated colonies. Typically handled by conventional military personnel. Abbreviated as M-class.

Sub-Malkuth: Anomalies that are either non-threatening to humans or only capable of attacking small population centers, and therefore able to be dealt with by non-specialized personnel.

I. This RP is of my own creation. As such, I hold control over every aspect of this RP, and my word is final. My Co-OPs will wield similar authority.

II. The obvious rules apply. If you do not know what the rudimentary rules for P2TM RPs are, then you had best check in once you know them. I expect everyone to enter this RP with a firm grasp on what's allowed within P2TM, and what to avoid.

III. This is a dark RP; the protagonists are facing reality-bending entities that can best be described as "corporeal chaos." We will bear witness to and be involved in incidents and things that may be considered unsettling or frightening. A foul move may spell death. Proceed at your own risk.

IV. We are part of a crew; we will shift between periods of comfort, trust, hatred, suspicion, and desperation with one another. I fully expect your character to act semi-appropriately within the confines of the Boadicea, and progressively build upon their madness with the more horrible things they see.

V. RP correctly. If you get shot, I won't let you ignore it. Every action has a consequence, and there is both opportunity and failure everywhere you look. I expect you to write a lot - to be descriptive as all hell. The goal is to drag myself, yourself, and everyone else into the story with your writing.

Isn't it racist that we included Pluto but no Moon?

And no, Moon is not a satellite. After all, we sent humans there. Just like the Mars.
