The next Emperor is chosen by Senatorial confirmation in order of the line of succession. The Emperor must be confirmed by a unanimous vote, though if less than a quarter of the Senate or 100 Senators are against the candidate, then the vote will be forced through-though these Emperors are under the mercy of a Vote of Confidence after 5 years of their reign.

The Archduke-Emperor is selected by a most august senate of 200 intellectuals. They rule for life, or at least until they are voted out of office, though that does not happen often.

The Emperor's position is elective; an Imperial Council appointed by the outgoing emperor elects his or her heir from his or her legitimate issues. This election is valid only if taking place with the incumbent emperor's cognisance and the elected heir has attained 18 years of age.
The Crown follows male-preferred succession.
However, the monarch may choose his own heir.
The Head of Government, the Premier, is appointed from the Parliamentary Committee of the coalition that has securex the majority in the elections. The Monarch has considerable say in this.

The Lehendakari is elected by direct vote by the Brillian electorate using the two-round method.

The president is selected by a national popular vote, that vote being a ranked choice instant runoff vote, it goes a maximum of 4 rounds (now 5 starting in the 520 election)

Our Prime Minister is chosen by an electorate-level party vote. Whoever is the leader of the party which wins the most electorate seats is declared the Prime Minister. It's similar to the US electoral college but it's the people who vote rather than electoral representatives.

The Doge of Montevento is democratically elected by all the citizens of the Republic who are above 18 years old. Monteventani elections have two phases:

• First Round: All the candidates of all the political parties face each other during the first round of voting. In order to be elected Doge, a candidate must obtain more than 50% of the total valid votes. If no candidate manages to obtain said amount, a second round is held. Voting during the first round is mandatory and the results also determine the composition of the National Council (Montevento's Parliament)
  
  
• Second Round: The two most voted candidates during the first round face each other, while the rest are eliminated. The candidate who manages to obtain the most votes during the second round, is elected as Doge. Voting during this round is also mandatory.

Sodara has a separate head of state and head of government.

The head of state is the Consul. The present head of state is His Excellency Baltasar Benítez. His Excellency came into power as the acting Consul following a military coup d'etat, and was later named Consul for Life. Once His Excellency dies, the Upper Chamber of the Congreso Nacional (CNCS) will elect a new Consul.

The head of government is the Prime Minister. The PM is nominated by the Parliament, and approved by the Consul, following the election of Parliament every four years. The PM is deselected if he is not re-elected or if Parliament removes him by a vote of no confidence.

Teufelreich separates the offices of State and Government. As a clerical fascist regime, however, both offices are important in their own way.

The Head of State is the High Presbyter, similar to a Muslim Caliph. However, she largely holds only ecclesiastical power, though his input is cherished for secular affairs as well. The Forum of Presbyters, a group of Cardinals of the Ashmedonan faith, convene to elect a new High Presbyter among the predecessor's family whenever the High Presbyter dies or resigns. House Rosenberg has filled this role since current Reich's inception, but the office may transfer to another dynasty if the Forum cannot locate an adequate or qualified heir of the incumbent dynasty. Only ordained presbyters may be chosen for this office. As required by the Ashmedonian faith, only females may hold the title of High Presbyter.

Meanwhile, the Head of Government is the Chancellor. While the Forum of Presbyters must approve of the successor Chancellor, the Chancellor is chosen by the Tiefemann Bund, the ruling party of the Reich. Selection for the Chancellor is similar to the High Presybter in that membership in the Bund is required for Chancellorship, as is prior military, governmental, or religious service. Dynasty lineage is not factored officially into the Bund's choice for the successor Chancellor, however. Normally, only death or resignation incurs the need to choose a new Chancellor. However, Chancellors may be impeached by a 2/3rds vote in the Bund should they be found guilty of a high crime or misdemeanor. Ashmedonian law permits only females to hold the title of Chancellor.

West Dumonde generally has 3 main front-runner parties. Commonly referred to as Red, Green, and Blue. Consequentially, every 5 years the electoral office gathers respective bins of Maxtopian ketchup, guacamole, and blue cheese for the populace to receive a 5-year supply of sans charge. Which one you choose to keep is your vote for office. Elected politicians then dip their hands into the drinks of their preferred cabinet members to thus complete the governmental selection process.

According to the 1965 Constitution, the President of the Republic of Golbia is elected by a national popular vote every five years, with no term limits. The country held its first constitutional election the same year, making Umer Umeri Artum the first president of Golbia, though he had been de facto ruler since 1961. Umer Artum was reelected in 1970, 1975, and 1980 by landslide margins: 86, 98, and 99 percent respectively. International observers at the time described the elections as exactly the opposite of free and fair.

Towards the end of his rule, Umer began favoring his eldest son Balar as his informal heir apparent. When Umer died in 1984, the country held a special election for the last year of his term. Balar won by 82 percent. The following year Balar suspended the scheduled presidential election indefinitely after rioting and looting over food shortages in the capital Tomil. In 1997, the constitution was quietly amended to allow the president to nominate a successor to serve out the rest of his term. Balar named his favorite son Tager his successor and retired in 1999. Tager still rules as president to the present day, having never been formally elected.

Thus, the presidency has remained in the hands of the Artum family since the office was created.

Ippo personally got to her position as Supreme Overlady of Mankind by simply being the most powerful figure on Earth still alive after the Cataclysm - as far as she knows, anyway. None have dared rise to contest her might, and the corpses of those who tried at the beginning form part of her Bone Throne. Therefore, for the time being, she is likely to keep her position for centuries to come.

That said, if ever there does come a time where the nation needs a new leader, it will only happen if the incumbent is killed or otherwise prevented from ruling in any functional capacity. Methods of achieving that are likely to involve violence, but Ippo herself states that: "Really, any method of removing me is acceptable, from ballot box all the way up to nuclear weapons. But whether I choose to leave the throne, as opposed to flaying alive whoever wants to orchestrate my departure from the leadership, is an entirely different affair!"

The President is elected for unlimited 5-year terms by direct vote. If no candidate receives 50% of the vote in the first vote, then a second is held a month later. In the second round, only the two candidates with the most votes in the first are on the ballot, and whoever achieves over 50% wins.

The President (B̌azedenu or Prezidents) is an elected office. The method used to choose the President is a first-past-the-post direct election that takes place every five years, of which a president can only run twice, though there was also the restriction that it had to be non-consecutive, this stipulation has since been removed. The President is the Head of State.

The Minister-President (B̌azedena Miniŕanu or Ministru Prezidents) is not an elected position, instead being nominated by the President within the first three months of their term. In the event that the Riksdome either doesn't receive a nomination, or they do not accept any of the nominations in the first three months, it falls to the Riksdome to elect the Prime Minister. Should the current Prime Minister be removed from office by a vote of no confidence or by the election of a new President. The Prime Minister is the Head of Government.

The Riksdome is a unicameral parliament. Its members are elected once every four years, though it can be dissolved earlier by the President if the Minister-President and a simple majority of the Riksdome agree to the dissolution. There are 200 seats in the parliament, with seats being granted to parties and independents in order of the highest percentage of total votes to the lowest. In the case of a seat being split between two parties or candidates, the larger group receives the seat.

At the start of the election, all candidates independent or members of the political parties, campaign for a popular vote in each district and the winner takes one-vote-per district. Lowell Harbor has over 2,000 national districts. Which party candidate has the greater cumulative votes district-on-district forms the ruling majority of the Assembly, and can nominate the government's cabinet (even though in theory they aren't required formally to do this). The cabinet nomination happens several weeks after the new Assembly has called into session.

The national election day takes place on the same day of the local and regional elections. They occur on the second Sunday of May by convention and held every 4 years.

The Dictators of The Sladerstan are chosen by Whoever was dictator before them. If the dictator did not choose someone before his death, then the military will take over rule of the nation in place of the dictator, until the higher branches of government elect a new dictator.
