Just got a yt ad that said "There is a storm keeping us from the things we take for granted. But no matter how bad the storm is the sun will allways come out to shine."

A gang of monkeys attacked a laboratory assistant and escaped with a batch of coronavirus blood test samples.
The bizarre incident saw the troop of primates launch their assault near Meerut Medical College in Delhi, India.
One of the primates was reportedly later spotted up in a tree, chewing one of the sample collection kits.
The undamaged kits were later recovered, the Meerut medical college superintendent, Dheeraj Raj, told AFP.
He added: "They were still intact and we don't think there is any risk of contamination or spread."

Boring indian monkeys, can't even make an interesting news.

But samples aside, what the hell with monkeys stealing stuff from laboratories.

Well, we're entering Phase 3 today as we're averaging 12-1600 cases per day now, which is still lower than most of the month has been. Shops can open up with requirements, restaurants can now allow outdoor seating with requirements, we made it legal to sell hard liquor when ordering takeout or delivery(GrubHub and the like can't transport them however), offices and salons can open up with requirements, and outdoor or one-on-one training at healthclubs is now allowed. Crowds of up to 10 can now congregate with requirements, and all state parks that hadn't yet been opened up can now do so.

Slow and steady really will win the race. If all goes well, we enter Phase 4 at the end of next month, where gyms, restaurants, bars, schools, theatres, etc, can open at reduced capacity with requirements.

Actually I can legitimately see that happening in the aftermath of this.

Well maybe not the Blackjack and Hookers, but there likely needs to be a second health organization now simply to make it harder for any one group of ideas to control it.

Coming from an area that has opened almost everything up except for a few stores and restaurants, things can get better. Most large gathering places are still closed but that's mostly from lack of demand more than anything else.

There are even some small businesses that survived.

Then again my area was lucky enough that we had been in an area that dodged the worst of the virus.

We've had mixed fortunes ourselves. Five cases and no deaths here, but we're a rural county with 13,000 altogether. The areas closer to states that didn't impose rules or had them stripped, like Iowa and Wisconsin, are seeing much higher case loads than ones with similar populations further inside.

A merchandise store near my house opened up again. But the customers and employees still have to practice the necessary health guidelines, wear a mask and social distance at the checkout counters. They are letting in x numbers of customers at a time, but their are still dozens of customers inside the store at the same time. Americans are learning how it is to live in Cuba with the long lines and shortages without the virus for over 60 years of the revolution.

It's not that we dodged the virus outright, we had quite a few cases, just almost none of them were fatal until it hit the nursing homes and even then for the amount of people who got infected losses were light considering the average ages of the people there.

Really we were lucky.

My good GMS, there's a difference between doing things because it's a totalitarian communist state with no freedoms and CDRs willing to rat you out at a moment's notice and doing things because there's a killer plague that can spread to hundreds of people before a person's aware that they have it.

My comment is just that Americans are learning how it is to live in Cuba with the long lines and shortages without the virus crisis. Yes, their is a big difference between Cuba, the USA and most nations. We still have it good despite the virus crisis and the occasional temporary shortages in the nations we are posting from. I am pleasantly surprised you know about the CDRs, I used to live 3 houses down from the head of the CDR in my neighborhood. Thank you for the totalitarian communist state with no freedoms and the CDRs rat comments.

Donald Trump breaks US ties with World Health Organization over coronavirus pandemic
US President Donald Trump says he is "terminating" the relationship between the United States and the World Health Organization (WHO), claiming it failed to adequately respond to the coronavirus pandemic because China has "total control" over the global organisation.

Speaking from the Rose Garden of the White House on Friday, Mr Trump said Chinese officials "ignored" their reporting obligations to the WHO and pressured them into misleading the world when the virus was first discovered.

He said the WHO had failed to make reforms to the organisation that the President had demanded earlier this month.

Mr Trump has repeatedly threatened to eliminate American funding for the group, which amounts to hundreds of millions of dollars a year.

"China has total control over the World Health Organization despite only paying $40 million per year compared to what the United States has been paying which is approximately $450 million a year," he said.

Mr Trump said the US would be "redirecting" this funding to "other worldwide and deserving urgent global public health needs", without providing specifics.

The US is the largest source of financial support to the WHO and its exit is expected to significantly weaken the organisation.

Mr Trump has long questioned the value of the United Nations and scorned the importance of multilateralism as he focuses on an "America First" agenda.

Since taking office, he has quit the UN Human Rights Council, the UN cultural agency UNESCO, a global accord to tackle climate change and the Iran nuclear deal.

The World Health Organization is a UN specialised agency — an independent international body that works with the United Nations.

More to come.

I'm not gonna slam my desk because I don't want to have either a giant dent on my desk or a concussion.

Instead, I'm going to yell internally about how stupid Trump is being.

Complaining about China's influence, then promptly abandoning the WHO to China. 10/10 strategy.

Nah: pointless discrimination, authoritarianism, Brexit, Trump, both American parties, the Conservatives

At the very beginning of January 2020, after the execution of General Soleimani, many young Americans expressed their fear on Twitter - sometimes jokingly - that they would be drafted into the army to fight World War III. The threat of no-holds-barred international conflict has not come to pass; by contrast, the bans on public gatherings, the supermarket rationing schemes and the mass-scale government campaigns are alive and well... with some necessary adaptations from WWII, of course.

The weirdest part about COVID is how normalized it all feels now. Just the restrictions here and there no longer seem foreign, it just feels like...how life is going to be. I'm not criticizing or lauding it, it just all felt so surreal when everything came crashing down in March and even April, when I had to deal with the virus, and now all just feels perfectly normal.

It sounds callous, but in March I'd have collapsed if I saw the death toll was 100,000 in the US, now just seeing that and the incremental rises just feels like part of the day to day. I hate that.
