The Babbage Islands World Cup 56 Roster

Nicknames: Bumblebees, Islanders
Colours: Yellow and black

Manager: Michelle Germaine (Delaclava), record 27-4-9
Style: +2.25

So close. All the way to the World Cup final to lose by one goal. Michelle Germaine enters her third World Cup cycle as manager of a national team determined to make it back to the final and win. Her team started the last qualification cycling between three formations. Yet by the end the strikerless 4-6-0 that made earlier Bumblebees famous was the setup of choice. It is perhaps an odd choice, given the headline presence of striker Jason Olson with his two Gold Boots in the Cafundelense Primierona. But it's probable that Olson's early exposure to the highly-mobile front four concept in the Babbage 4-6 helped make him the dangerous striker that Clube Comercial loves.

An all-time high of 15 out of 23 players are signed outside of The Babbage Islands for their club play. There is a hot debate over how good or bad this is. But there's no doubt that some of the top clubs and aspiring clubs in the world are looking to Babbage teams for talent.

In the roster below, starred (*) players played in World Cup 55.

Keepers

Elizabeth Hanna-Kirkpatrick* 32 GK 82/0 Dover City
Jerome Patterson 28 GK 0/0 Bloomfield National

Hanna-Kirkpatrick will take over the Bumblebees' all-time top spot for goalkeeper caps early in this Cup cycle. Patterson is an able second choice, and his recent Champions' Cup and Globe Cup experience will make him stronger.

Defenders

Sweepers
Nancy Svoboda* (vice-capt) 22 SW 31/0 Pocono City Capitals (Newmanistan)
Katja Mira 21 SW 0/0 Atlético Central (Cafundéu)

Centre-backs
Ronald Dennis* 32 CB 104/6 Ajax Khaldoon II (Queer Poco el Mono Ara)
Benjamin Price 20 CB 0/0 FC Mildrid (Erathore)
Jerry Kirkpatrick* 38 CB 136/6 Dunboor FC (Cafundéu)

Wing-backs
Caitlyn Ballantyne* (captain) 33 WB 44/2 Ranca Toco (Cafundéu)
Eva Glemnitz* 26 WB 18/0 Athens Town (Civil Citizenry)

David Johnson 22 WB 0/0 Great Falls Cymru

Caitlyn Ballantyne, star defender for TakilQuip Champions' Cup holders Ranca Toco, headlines a very good back line. She received the armband from 38-year-old Jerry Kirkpatrick, still rostered but in the twilight of a brilliant career. Jerry is the eminence grise of the team, a hard-nosed defender utterly without fear. He has in turn influenced a generation of Babbage defenders including his former centre-back partner Ronald Dennis. Nancy Svoboda is a true sweeper with excellent speed and impeccable judgement; Eva Glemnitz is a scrappy player who fights for the tiniest advantage and then makes it count. Katja Mira is a backup sweeper on the rolls, but she is expected to shift elsewhere in the back in future cups. With her entry into the Cafundelense system, on loan to Atlético Central from Petardos S/A, her potential is explosive. Benjamin Price and David Johnson are young players with futures--Price at a budding international force in Erathore, and Johnson with the last Championship Series winners Great Falls Cymru as they return to the Babbage premiership.

Midfielders

Central midfielders
Sophia Valentine* 29 CM 10/1 Red Devils FC
Skarphéðinn Grímsson* 32 CM 42/6 Volerander FC (Swartaz)

Natalia Karven 20 CM 0/0 Dunboor FC (Cafundéu)
Sean White 20 CM 0/0 Lehi FC

Wing midfielders
Bethany Martin* 29 LM 45/29 Hastmead Diamante (Osarius)
Dagrún Hallvarðsdóttir 23 RM 0/0 Urajbina ZL (Kagdazka and Pazhujebu)

Tristan St-Pierre 22 LM 0/0 Belgium FC
Oddi Ísleifsson 23 RM 0/0 Parisian

Attacking midfielders
Claire van de Graaf* 25 AM 31/1 Zarahemla All-Sport
Logan Clark 21 AM 0/0 Skyline United (Mangolana)

Points
Jason Olson* 35 SS 100/59 Clube Comercial (Cafundéu)
Glen Svoboda* 24 SS 43/23 Beningrad (Sorthern Northland)
Tom Hovi* 26 SS 17/8 Zhevassi ZL (Kagdazka and Pazhujebu)

The 4-6 is back. It's a scheme that uses central midfielders as go-betweens. They can drop back to join the back line for a six-player defence, or surge forward to create a six-player attack. Sophia and Skarp are very fit players used to the demands of the system. The heart of the 4-6 is the union of an attacking midfielder with wingers and a forward with mobility into a blur of frontal activity in every direction, denying defenders the ability to fall into familiar patterns against standard schemes. It requires team players with offensive mindsets. The original Babbage 4-6 was built around Tegan Nash at attacking midfield with Orson Cook and Patty Heatherly on her wings, and they attained two World Cup semifinals in three cycles. The modern version has scoring machine Jason Olson showing that he can do a lot more than play target man, playmaker Van de Graaf adding a serious eye for the goal, converted forward Martin settling in on a flank and dazzling with speed, and newcomer Dagrún impressing all and sundry with decision-making and intensity. Add five bright young backups age 23 and under, including Karven and St-Pierre recently picked up by top-50 clubs. Now season with established stars Glen Svoboda and Tom Hovi, who are expected to see plenty of action backing up the decade-older Olson, and you have the core of a potential champion.

Expect Dagrún Hallvarðsdóttir to take most penalties, and Claire van de Graaf to take corners and most free kicks.

Forwards

Forwards? Who needs forwards? Olson, Glen Svoboda, Hovi, and Martin normally play as forwards in other systems. But all four have an all-round athleticism that Germaine puts to good use to overwhelm defenders trying to read the field.

Off-pitch notes

  • Three national team players are captaining gender-specific senior teams for the Football Federation of Babbage. Katja Mira is captain of the women's Olympic team, and Tom Hovi will captain the men. Meanwhile, captaincy of the WSWC eleven falls to Sophia Valentine.
  • Glen and Nancy Svoboda are brother and sister, the two oldest children of the late World Cup Hall of Famer Magnus Svoboda. Younger sister Margaret has an Olympic bronze medal.
  • Caitlyn Ballantyne won 42 caps for Sportgirls before activating her dual citizenship and playing for the Bumblebees instead. Prior to turning pro she earned a doctorate and taught literature at university.
  • With both of them starting, expect a few announcers to trip up over Ballantyne and Valentine and a few listeners to mishear key consonants.
  • Bethany Martin was once a runner-up for Miss Babbage Islands. She's a great interview.
  • Jerry Kirkpatrick and Elizabeth Hanna married during the last World Cup cycle, and so far are coping with the stress of both playing professionally in different nations.
  • Skarphéðinn Grímsson is the team prankster. Call him Skarp, everyone does.
  • Three players (Hovi, Johnson, and Óddi) are returned Mormon missionaries.
  • Tristan St-Pierre is the tallest player at 2.01 metres, and Claire van de Graaf the shortest at 1.55 metres.

BLEAK ROCK ROSTER FOR THE 56th WORLD CUP QUALIFYING CAMPAIGN

KIT COLOURS: - courtesy of Barrengeka Kits, Astograth

NICKNAME: The Dukes

HOME STADIUM:
Völlinn af Fjórum Húsum, Mið-Sal - 14,722

STARTING LINE-UP
------------------------------ Kielberg ------------------------------
------ Ragnarsson -- Broberg -- Tommisen -- Ljótursson ------
-- Justinussen -- Eygenroy -- Ragnarsson -- Sigurhelgason --
------------------- Rosenmeyer -- Mackenzie -------------------

Modification: -4

The Protectorate of Bleak Rock, following their independence from the Federation of Polar Islandstates, is delighted to be able to submit their international team for entry into its first ever World Cup Qualification campaign. After an uninspiring debut on the international football scene, including an 8-0 humiliation at the hands of Polar Islandstates, the Dukes picked themselves up and went on to storm to the runners-up spot in the recent Baptism of Fire.

In this tiny nation of 170,000 people where the fiercely traditional Hús system is still in strong force, expect manager Ljótur Friðfinnursson to have to juggle various intra-squad squabbles at any point. Nonetheless, his strongest side is well established and easy to predict, and only injuries will have any drastic impact on the starting lineup. This strongest side is a fairly defensive one, and will rely on the deep lying battling midfield pair of Eygenroy and Ragnarsson to protect the defence, with wingers Justinussen and Sigurhelgason making forays into the opposing half far more frequently.

The young strike partnership of Rosenmeyer and Mackenzie will therefore to some extent be quite isolated, and Friðfinnursson will be relying somewhat on the talents of his strikers to create their own plays, taking it turns to come deeper for the ball. Both are excellent at meeting the ball first time with volleys or headers however, something that could be crucial with a midfield full of dead ball specialists and deep-crossers behind them. Eygenroy in particular has shown what a mind like his can do from set pieces, and this naturally very tall team will be a constant threat from corners and free kicks, almost half of their 20 goals at the BoF coming this way.

The qualification opponents are as of yet, unknown, but expect the research machine to get into full swing when the draw is announced. That is, provided the upcoming elections back in Bleak Rock do not distract the players...

FULL ROSTER:
GK
#1 - GK - Hallvarður Kielberg - Age 28 - Dominion (Cotdelapoms) - Hús Hreindýr
#12 - GK - Petter Sivertsson - Age 22 - Atammik Zenith FK (Polar Islandstates) - Hvítabjörninn Hús
#13 - GK - Jónas Magnússson - Age 27 - Glidi Hreindýrsal - Hús Hreindýr
Kielberg is the starter in what is a strong goalkeeping contingent in the squad, perhaps the best represented position of them all in fact. Sivertsson is one of a handful of representatives from the Polarian league, and one of only a couple from amongst them to not make the starting lineup, kept out by the impressive form of Kielberg, so impressive that it secured him a move to Cotdelapomais side Dominion.

DEF
#2 - DR - Guðjón Ragnarsson - Age 26 - FF Berafjörðinn - Hvítabjörninn Hús
#3 - DC - Hafliði Broberg - Age 29 - Náhvarðvíkur Bæ IF - Hús Náhvalur
#4 - DC - Gull Tommisen - Age 29 - FK Grise Fiord (Polar Islandstates) - Hús Hrafninn - VICE-CAPTAIN
#5 - DL - Jens Ljótursson - Age 28 - Norðurmýrar 87 - Hús Hrafninn

#17 - DR - Steingrímur Aagard - Age 28 - Glidi Hreindýrsal - Hús Hreindýr
#18 - DL - Eyvindur Náhvalursson - Age 26 - Náhvarðvíkur Bæ IF - Hús Náhvalur
#22 - DC - Hallvarð Friðfinnursson - Age 25 - VB Vatn Höfninflói - Hús Náhvalur
#23 - DC - Óskar Jóhannsson - Age 30 - K85 Járn Virkaroy - Hús Hreindýr
In a defence that will be keen on avoiding another humiliation like they received against Polar Islandstates, vice-captain Tommisen will look to lead the line and hold steady in the face of attacking waves. Aggressive and not ashamed of getting stuck in, even with each other, this speedy defence will look to irritate, frustrate, and close down quickly, and their tall imposing frames will not make it easy for any attackers.

MID
#6 - MC - Jón Ragnarsson - Age 27 - Juvapanam (Kagdazka and Pazhujebu) - Hús Hrafninn
#7 - MR - Karl Justinussen - Age 28 - Leiknir Reykjanesur - Hvítabjörninn Hús
#8 - MC - Dietar Eygenroy - Age 25 - Jan Mayen Islanders (Polar Islandstates) - Hvítabjörninn Hús - CAPTAIN
#11 - ML - Ingvar Sigurhelgason - Age 17 - FC Cape St Paul (Polar Islandstates) - Hús Náhvalur

#14 - AMC - Oddi Jónatan - Age 25 - Leiknir Reykjanesur - Hvítabjörninn Hús
#15 - MR - Arnljótur Rosenmeyersson - Age 23 - Hreindýrsal Stríðsmaður - Hús Hreindýr
#16 - ML - Ragnar Guðmundursson - Age 25 - Hrafninn Knattspyrnufélag - Hús Hrafninn
#21 - MC - Skarphéðinn Jóhannsson - Age 29 - RKA Hvalabátum - Hús Náhvalur
The key figure of Dietar Eygenroy will lead the way from the centre of the park for the Dukes, having both top flight Polarian football experience, as well as experience playing in the TQCC for Jan Mayen Islanders, and will surely be instrumental in any victories the Dukes manage to get under their belt. Ingvar Sigurhelgason is one of two talented FC Cape St Paul youngsters in the squad on whose shoulders the team may eventually fall, but for now he gets to show off his skills in an international setting. The defensive mind of Ragnarsson could find himself replaced by the main talent on the bench, the attacking midfielder Oddi Jónatan, should the Dukes be in search of a goal.

ATT
#9 - ST - Vagn Rosenmeyer - Age 21 - Resolute Storm 1913 FC (Polar Islandstates) - Hús Hreindýr
#10 - ST - Gunnar Mackenzie - Age 21 - FC Cape St Paul (Polar Islandstates) - Hús Hrafninn

#19 - ST - Jon Dahl Pettersen - Age 26 - FC Fetlar (Polar Islandstates) - Hús Náhvalur
#20 - ST - Hafliði Nielsen - Age 28 - FK Hámarvik - Hvítabjörninn Hús
The attack for Bleak Rock is a strong and young one, with new Resolute signing Rosenmeyer the key outlet for attacks and the frequent hero of the side, and young starlet Gunnar Mackenzie - having chosen his Blockhead nationality over his Polarian one after independence was granted - will be looking to show the Terns exactly what they're missing.

Swartaz roster World Cup 56

Goalkeeper
1. Karl JAMESSON (Sub) (Vaastrada FC) Age: 21

Karl has quickly broken into the Vaastrada first team despite his tender age with some great displays of brilliant acrobatical goalkeeping. Certainly one to watch if you want exitement, but his ability to stick on his line when needed to has been called into question

23. Vanger HANDORLINK (Starter) (Volerander FC) Age: 36

Vanger is Swartaz's mainstray in the goal, with unrivalled consistency in shot stopping. When he came into the team aged 19 and stole Byron Jansuur's place, his main asset was his speed off the line, and he still demonstrates this skill to this day. At 36, he isn't the youngest, but he's got at least another two world cup cycles in him.

99. Jamas GORGSEN (Res) Unattached Age: 36

Jamas has had a very unlucky time in the Swartaz squad. The spot in the first team he thought he was to inherit was stolen by Handorlink. Dumped out of Tyrrin with the dissolution of the league, he joined Sopensentrall FC, but his contract was terminated at the end of last season and you have to wonder how long he thinks he has left at the top level.

Defence
2. Henrik OTTO (Starter) (Eldorado) (Cafundeu) Age: 33

Henrik is the perfect right back in Swartaz's attacking system. He gets up and down the right wing all day effortlessly, with breathtaking speed and stamina, and a handy knack of scoring goals from outside the area just at the right time. Playing in Cafundeu has also helped is all round game, especially defensively, and he is now able to hold his own down the wing against the worlds best.

5. Fredrik GAISBAN (Starter) (Cap Nordique) (Cotdelapoms) Age: 25

Fredrik burst onto the international scene a few years ago in place of struggling now retired Kristan Alvar and has never looked back. Capable of some massive tackles, creator of many a counter attack with his long balls, and his ability on the ball, he has been described as the playmaker stuck in defence, but defence is his calling.

4. Hugo LUKAS (Starter) (Rigdemont Town) (Queer Poco el Mono Ara) Age: 31

Hugo's style of play is similar to Fredrik's, but he has two distinct advantages. One, he is faster, capable of staying with the fastest of strikers. And two, his height enables him to clear balls that Gaisban simply cannot get to. At 29 he is at his peak and should be very impressive this cycle.

27. Janek PIDULSKI (Sub) (IFK Goteborg) Age: 24

Janek's versitility has allowed him to become more of a fixture in the Swartaz squad in recent years. He doesn't particually excel in any area, but he is the perfect player to bring in anywhere in the defence, or even midfield, if injuries hit.

29. Olof GÅSSENT (Sub) (Groubeschwellei FC) Age: 19

Olof is a bit of an unknown quantity in the centre of the defence. However a regular berth in the Groubeschwellei FC first team has allowed him to show flashes of the talent needed to succeed on the international stage.

12. Henrik LITREMMEN (res) (Vaastrada FC) Age: 20

Henrik, son of inspirational ex-captain Jans, has been thrown straight from the U-21 team into this world cup cycle. Swartaz's stand out player in the 17th Di Brandini cup, he has a lot of expectation on is shoulders coming up in the next few years, but he should be able to confidently handle it with his undoubted ability.

30. Vaarger JASMEIKAEIL (res) (AFC Tranzversa) Age: 29

Not really much to say about Vaarger, an average at best full back for international standards, but he does his job well at AFC and is ready to be called upon when needed.

Midfield

11. Karl JASIN (Starter) (A.F.F) (Cafundeu) Age: 25

Karl was the definitive 'wonderkid' of World Cup 52 with abundant energy and creativity down the right side and has carried on his amazing play throughout his career thus far. The only non-Swartazian born on the team, he is still as passionate about the team as any. A regular at Cafundeu club A.F.F, he has shown his promise in the domestic scene too.

6. Johan HESSE (Starter) (Tout-Puissant Outremont) (Cotdelapoms) CAPTAIN Age: 31

The monster of the centre midfield is Johan Hesse, capable of dispossesing even the cockiest and cleverist playmakers. Couple that with his top class passing ability and vision, you have the perfect holding midfileder. He also writes a very successful blog about his on and off field endevours.

8. Marko KRIVAC (Starter) (Norrion Rovers) (Eastfield Lodge) Age: 27

his brilliant energetic and skillful playmaking in the attacking midfielder role make Marko a joy to watch, and he is adored by players and fans alike. He's also capable of scoring from long range and in his element with the ball at his feet just outside the opposision box, he is arguably the reason Swartaz won the Cup of Harmony a few years back.

17. Josef GUNNARSSON (Sub) (Olympic Thessia) (Mytannion) Age: 20

Josef has taken the Mytannion domestic scene by storm this season with his brilliant and eccentric attacking play and love of fan pleasing. He'll be a real hidden weapon in the team having snatched a well deservered starting place, and will be looking to make a great impact in his first real World Cup campaign.

16. Adolph KANNESBOURG (Sub) (Jaarguzmuz FC) Age: 24

At 24 Adolph is now too old for the U-21 team, but that is not a problem as he has shown over the last two years at Jaarguzmuz that he is easily capable of performing on the international stage and well. However, if he is to continue his career problem free, he must make sure he is not inticed into anything to 'exotic' by team-mates or friends ever again, lest it blow up in his face as badly as it did last time again.

27. Alex FREJ (Sub) (Cap Nordique) (Cotdelapoms) Age: 36

Frej has finally burst into the first team after many a World Cup quitely making the odd substitute appearance, and maybe scoring the odd goal. At 36 he needs to make up for lost time quickly and get some goals and assists under his belt. However, with the rise of Josef Gunnarsson, he may be forced to call it a day sooner rather than later.

37. Mikael JOHANNES (Res) (Vaastrada FC) Age: 21

Mikael is another creative master, who excels with the ball at his feet, but is let down by a lack of speed or strength, both of which are essential at this level.

25. Yngve SXER (Res) (Volerander FC) Age: 32

A career wrecked by injury is the story here, but is capable of mesmerising displays of football on his day.

Strikers

10. Benidikt KLUM (Starter) (Volerander FC) Age: 29

Benidikt is Mr. Reliable up front, with speed, strengh and goalscoring ability all combining to make the perfect target man. Not as extravagnt or exiting as Dasra, he is undoubtedly more consistent and when on form is unstoppable, for club and country, the srtiker spearheading Volerander FC most of the time without backup.

9. Olec DASRA (Starter) (FKM) (Kagdazka and Pazhujebu) Age: 22

Olec must be one of the greatest but least consistent strikers in world football. With the whole of Swartaz on his shoulders, he carries the Dasra name well on the pitch, with all the confidence and ability of his late father. When on form, he just cannot be stopped. He can score from just about anywhere, and in a variety of different fashions. Off form however, he is hotheaded, agitated and generally needs to have a bit of a cool off to get him back to his world beating talent.

20. Wilhelm Berghoff (Sub) (East Franz Athletic) (Polar Islandstates) Age: 24

Wilhelm was promoted to the squad after Kimi Linissön's untimely death halfway through WC 55 qualifying. He had a brilliant season last year up front at AFC Tranzversa with Janni Milverki, and he was rewarded with a move to big Polar Islandstates club East Franz Athletic.

39. Konstantin BRITA (Res) (Cosmopolitan) (Cotdelapoms) Age: 36

Well he's finally back in the Swartaz squad. The most controversial player in Swartaz has been dropped and re-instated too many times to count. Sordid affairs, bust up's with managers, and on and off pitch fights with team mates mean he is now the panto villian instead of the much loved wonderkid he was 10 years ago. Kenny has brought him back as he is the best player in this squad on his day. The question on everyone's lips is if those days will ever return.

7. Alexio Del Nieran (Starter) (Dunboor FC) (Cafundeu) Age: 23

Del Nieran, originally a Erathi citizen, who has become somewhat disillusioned with the way's of his motherland, namely how they jumped ship from the Rushmore region seeking pasture's new in Atlantian Oceania. Alexio, however, wished to remain in Rushmore, and so took the steps needed to continue to play for a team in Rushmore, and that is gaining dual Swartazian-Erathi citizenship and making himself available for the Swartazian national team for World Cup 56. Del Nieran is a truly top class striker, who will, with all his brilliant qualities and traits, really make a difference to Swartaz's push for a second successive World Cup finals qualification. That is, if he can gel with the squad and get on top form in time..

21. Eusebio Nadol (12 de noviembre) 1 international goal (First tournament: WC55)
22. Muño Valcárcel (Blén CA) (First tournament: WC56Qs)

Formation: in principle a winged 4-4-2, though variations are very highly likely this time around; look for formations with lots of midfielders and fewer strikers. The (slightly) more probable starters are numbers 1-11, also known as those not in italics. But it'll probably be different each time, whether I RP it or not, so please tweak it. However you want.

Aguazul play a fairly attacking (+2) style.

My opponents, if they RP first, can do whatever they want.

Our home games will be played in various stadia around the country.

Starblaydia's WC56 Roster
Welcome to the dawning of a new empire

Staff
IR. Isabella Roshanak, Manager, 41
67 Caps, 16 Goals (5 Caps, 1 Goal at Under-21 level)
A successful tenure with her old club side, Corinthian Spirits, has propelled the relatively young new manager into the national spotlight. A Third Place at the Di Bradini Cup, followed by a Second Round exit on penalties at the AOCAF Cup. For this campaign, over 160 years since Starblaydia first attempted to qualify for the World Cup, Roshanak has blended unequalled Elven experience with some of Starblaydia's potentially great youth prospects.

Image
Dacil Taniquentar, GK

Goalkeepers
1. Dacil Taniquentar†, GK, 10,006 - Petardos S/A (Cafundéu) - World Cup 44 & 47 Winner
247 Caps, 0 Goals (Uncapped at Under-21 level)
The unmovable ever-present in the Starblaydi goal since World Cup 44, Taniquentar simply does not have any equal in the Starblaydi game. Hence why he plays in Cafundéu, where the quality of play is presumably (with TQCC Championship evidence) much better than Liga Calania.

12. Jhan Progowski, GK, 31 - Basian Valley - Di Bradini Cup 14 Winner
9 Caps, 0 Goals (7 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
One of the last of the DBC14-winning side still playing, Jhan sees this as his last chance to add to that Under-21 title with a senior one, joining a very short list of players who have done both.

19. Enrico Gravaldi, GK, 28 - Hecia
Uncapped (8 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
Despite playing an unfashionable way, Hecia have truly ground out the results and surprised many pundits with their position in Liga Calania. This is down in no small measure to Gravaldi, who is simply an excellent goalkeeper.

Defenders
2. Joshua Haverly, RB, 19 - Cedrus Soundgardia
Uncapped (10 Caps, 1 Goal at Under-21 level)
Youngest of the starting XI, Haverly is said to have a great future ahead of him. He's great at coming forward with a key cross or a stinging shot, but he's also got the patience to sit back when required. His natural athleticism takes him from box to box, with the presence of mind when to stay on his feet, and when to dive in for the ball. Great things are expected of him in the coming years.

3. Daeron Avathar†, C/LB, 8,798 - Telcontarë - World Cup 44 Winner
197 Caps, 16 Goals (Uncapped at Under-21 level)
Soon to be the fourth Starblaydi Elf in the 200+ appearances club, it's not hard to see why Daeron Avathar is so well liked. Indeed, it's often remarked that he's the most human of the elves. Tall and lean, he's able to play in multiple positions and can lead the team by both word and deed. Gets among the goals too, as the nearest thing Starblaydia have had to a Wing-Back in many a year.

5. Pete Walker, L/CB, 23 - Zhevassi (Kagdazka and Pazhujebu)
Uncapped (15 Caps, 2 Goals at Under-21 level)
Big and strong, with the positional sense to use his muscle where it is needed most, Walker is set to be the bedrock of Starblaydia's back four for the next decade. A former Under-21 Captain, this is the young man to watch with the potential of taking the senior side's armband from Fëanáro. Made his name taking Beverington Hawks to promotion to Liga Calania, the defending K&P Champions soon came a calling for him, fighting off Cafundelense interest for his signature.

6. Vanessa Blackwell*, C/LB, 30 - Raynor City United (Valanora)
41 Caps, 8 Goals (7 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
Stylish and classy on the park, a legacy of her extensive experiences at RCU. Blackwell is good on the ball and distributes well to the midfield, not to mention being good in the air and a real general on the pitch.

13. Benn Morporvi, CB, 23 - Iskara Daii
Uncapped (14 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
'Big Benn' is not someone you'd want to meet in a dark alleyway. His side, demeanour and general intimidating presence make him a young man you don't want to mess with. Superb in the air at offensive or defensive set pieces, Morpovi's strength, power and pace will have him come out on top i nmost situations.

14. Javier Solermo, C/RB, 28 - Jhanna City
10 Caps, 1 Goal (11 Caps, 2 Goals at Under-21 level)
Though Solermo is a solid, experienced worker at the full back position, and able to play on the centre too, he is demoted to the bench in favour of Haverly's exuberance and potential. He's a canny player, however, useful in every situation and great to have as part of the wider team dynamic.

20. Jiino Zineffi, CB/SW, 22 - Iskara Daii
Uncapped (12 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
The second of the two young Daii defenders, Zineffi moves across a football pitch like flowing silk, as comfortable on the ball as any midfield playmaker. He's always where you need him, though is unlikely to truly put his body on the line for the cause. With his vision and reading of the game, though, he rarely has to.

Midfielders
4. Kyle Munroe, DM, 32 - Basian Valley
17 Caps, 2 Goals (6 Caps, 1 Goal at Under-21 level)
An experienced head in the centre of the pitch, preferred to the youth of Missana and inexperience of Agostini. He's no superstar, but always get full marks for quietly going about his business, winning the ball and delivering it to the more skilled and attacking players. If Starblaydia win a game and you've hardly heard his name mentioned, it's because he's done his job very, very well.

7. Soronúmë†, SC/RW, 8,632 - Telcontarë - World Cup 44 & 47 Winner
182 Caps, 45 Goals (Uncapped at Under-21 level)
Nearly nine thousand years old and still moving as spritely as an elf of half that age, Soronúmë is as good a wing wizard as Starblaydia have ever had. Whether sprinting down the line, crossing or cutting inside to the box, he's always a danger with the ball.
Image
Ázëwyn Fëanáro, Captain, AM

8. Ázëwyn Fëanáro*†, AM, 3,953 - Telcontarë - World Cup 44 & 47 Winner
254 Caps, 65 Goals (Uncapped at Under-21 level)
Yes she's beautiful, yes she's been made captain of a World Cup side for the 7th time, but yes she's arguably one of the greatest attacking midfielders in the world today. Currently the most-capped being in Starblaydi history, she's Starblaydia's golden girl.

11. Stephen Duemiscuran, C/LM, 35 - FC Farça - Di Bradini Cup 14 Winner
30 Caps, 7 Goals (7 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
Had something of an Indian Summer on the road to Aguazul and Delaclava, and is brought back one last time to swap sides with Soronúmë and link up with Fëanáro and Valrauncion as he did so naturally four years ago.

15. Enrique Missana, DM, 20 - Corinthian Spirits
Uncapped (12 Caps, 1 Goal at Under-21 level)
A young midfielder in the mould of Georges Blanc, Missana has the potential to be a wrecking ball in the centre of the park, and the ultimate barrier to any attacking intentions.

16. Fernando Agostini, L/CM, 30 - Fox Zero (Civil Citizenry)
Uncapped (6 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
The first Starblaydi to play in Civil Citizenry, after moving to Fox Zero as a free agent, Agostini's general reputation as somewhat of a journeyman has critics surprised at his selection. What is never in doubt, however, is his work ethic and stamina. Expect to see him on to break up opposition attacks, tie down flying wingers and generally put himself about the park.

21. Jefferson Tremlow, R/LM, 22 - Port Cythera
Uncapped (12 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
Two-footed, his veratility down either wing makes this young man from southern Starblaydia a perfect back-up to call on when the midfield needs propping up, or tired legs need replacing with fresh ones bursting with energy and the chance to prove himself.

22. Celesta Pana*, RM, 17 - Areck Furness (Sorthern Northland)
Uncapped (1 Cap, 1 Goal at Under-21 level)
Youngest member of the squad, snapped up after her appearance at the 18th Di Bradini Cup by the Sorthern Cygnus Cup winners.

Forwards
9. Jeremy Kintz, SC, 28 - Iskara Daii
16 Caps, 3 Goals (11 Caps, 4 Goals at Under-21 level)
Quite simply he's Starblaydia's best human striker, and that means he gets to partner Valrauncion this time. Though he weighed in with his fair share of goals four years ago, his play has come on leaps and bounds since his senior debut in qualifying for Aguazul & Delaclava.
Image
Valrauncion, SC

10. Valrauncion†, SC, 2,842 - Ousevale Borough (Krytenia) - World Cup 44 & 47 Winner
226 Caps, 107 Goals (Uncapped at Under-21 level)
Quite simply 'the arrogant bastard', Valrauncion has scored more goals for Starblaydia than any other being. Always wants the ball, always claims the goals and, generally, gets on the nerves of every single opposition player, fan and staff member. We wouldn't have him any other way, though, as he's a simply sublime striker.

17. Darius Vancheri, SC/AM, 19 - Nor'Calais FC (New Azura)
Uncapped (3 Caps, 1 Goal at Under-21 level)
This pocket rocket of a player is steadily moving towards the striker position as his game develops, perhaps being clever enough to know any Starblaydi Attacking Midfielder is unlikely to break into the Starting XI any time soon. Fast and nippy, with high levels of aggression to his game, he just has to watch his temper a little more, lest the 'red mist' descends.

18. Eric Le Vine, SC, 22 - Foxchester Raiders
Uncapped (13 Caps, 6 Goals at Under-21 level)
Starblaydia's great young striking hope for the future, Le Vine is a Britannican native with speed and a blisteringly accurate shot. Not the largest player in the world, but he's not afraid to get in where the action is. Fired the Flyboys (unexpectedly) to the 33rd TQCC Final, where they were defeated (as expected).

23. Freddie Gillespie, CF/SC, 18 - Edmonton United (Valladares)
Uncapped (3 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
A great prospect for the future, expected to lead the attack for Starblaydia at the next Under-21 World Cup with his ever-increasing presence and power. For this campaign, however, he's likely only here for the experience and a small taste of game-time.

FULL ROSTER:
(Caps in brackets indicate appearances from the bench)

Coach: Sol Kirkkegaard, 50
Sol Kirkkegaard is the finest tactical mind our nation has ever produced, and has pioneered the use of his formation, dubbed 'The Iceberg', in the national team. Has guided his teams to success without fail, and has a calm and cool exterior that does nothing to hint at what his calculative mind is thinking. He rarely flaps under pressure, and is well respected by fans, players, and press alike. He was the natural choice to lead our nation into the development of their first official international team, and carefully assessed the players through the exhibition A vs B and Road To The World Cup matches, the link to which can be found in my signature. Through this he developed a key core of players to rely on, and whilst many of them are reaching the tail end of their international careers now, he is nurturing a second wave of talented youngsters to lead the Terns further on. What's more, the majority of the squad now play outside the country, a far cry from the situation last cycle.

Tasted success at the Burchadinger Cup, but has seen up and down results since. Despite this, the Terns have claimed some impressive scalps in friendlies, and a surge up the ranking sheets has raised hopes for a competitive and threatening run in the qualification campaign. Hopes for qualification are virtually non-existent, but the finish in the top third of the group would be marked as a successful run.

Assistant: Morten Yarbin, 65
The megaphone to Kirkkegaard's computer. The pair have worked together for coming up to twenty years, and in many cases Morten is able to start shouting a specific instruction onto the pitch with only a knowing glance from Sol. Loud, abrasive, fierce, and dogged, Morten is a master at motivating his players to do their best, walking the fine line between aggravating them and complementing them with a fine skill. Health problems have begun to tarnish his professional career, and we may well be seeing a new number two in the dugout in future tournaments. For now, though, expect Morten to be there, loud and proud.

#1 - GK - Dmitri Karlsson - Age 33 - Yuzhny Equinox FC - 65 Caps
Fast off his line, tall, powerful in the air and final line of what used to be the meanest defence in the Federation League, Karlsson is a true warrior on the pitch. An excellent communicator, his other strengths lie in his shot-stopping and his decision making, though his distribution can be found lacking at times. A reliable ever-present performer for the Terns, and has almost single-handedly kept Yuzhny competitive in the Federation League.

#2 - DR - Petter Nikkel - Age 29 - SK Franz Josef City - 12(14) Caps, 1 Assist
Catapulted into the starting lineup through injury to the more usual character of Sergey Makarov, Nikkel will be keen to ensure that the club performances that saw him appear in the pre-season all-star match are replicated for the Terns. Could be interpreted as a weak link by opposition teams, but they will need to beware, as this wily defender will not give up possession or goals cheaply.

#3 - DC - Maarten Berg - Age 33 - SK Franz Josef City - 57(2) Caps, 1 Goal - VICE CAPTAIN
Berg is an experienced and supremely talented opponent. Though no longer the fastest player on the pitch, his game-reading is second to none, and he always seems to be in the right place at the right time. Definitely coming towards the twilight of his career now, but should comfortably see out this cycle in the starting lineup.

#4 - DC - Niko Marek - Age 31 - Jan Mayen Islanders - 76 Caps, 4 Assists, 3 Goal - NATIONAL CAPTAIN
Niko is a born leader and will sacrifice his all to aid the cause, marshalling the players on his side to a stout and firm performance. Massively influential player, has played for and captained the Terns' in every single one of their international matches. Again, will be looking at the ranks to see where the next captain is coming from, but will in all likelihood be able to be the first Polarian to ring up 100 caps for his country. A true inspiration.

#5 - DL - Steffan Pekarik - Age 28 - Urajbina (Kagdazka and Pazhujebu) - 60(3) Caps, 4 Assists, 2 Goals
Equally at home on the right or the left side of defence, Steffan's sweet left boot has brought his influential wingplay to the attention of an international audience. Now tearing up the pitch for Urajbina, his attacking instincts are suited perfectly to Sol's 'iceberg' formation, relying so much on the full-backs as it does.

#6 - MC - Petter Bielsen - Age 30 - Iturributa United (Astograth) - 62(6) Caps, 6 Assists, 2 Goals
Now a much loved feature of life in the Astograth League, Iturributa United midfielder Bielsen continues to be a vital player for the Terns, where his tenacity and drive to succeed is surpassed by none. Accurate and fierce in the tackle, his weaknesses are few and his stamina high. Don't expect to see mistakes from this veteran, because he's going to be fighting to keep his place for a while yet.

#7 - AMC - Ole van Jendrisen - Age 28 - Atletik Thessia (Mytannion) - 60(5) Caps, 33 Assists, 3 Goals
Attacking midfielder van Jendrisen is the key playmaker for the Terns, as his hugely impressive assists tally indicates. Can influence players to move around the pitch seemingly at will to help carry out his plays. If Ole sees it, a long pass down the left can inspire an attacking move that ends up in a headed goal from a cross, all from Ole's original idea even if the final assist wasn't his. He can read a game better than almost anyone, and is Sol Kirkkegaard's man on the pitch, basically, with a sweet free kick. At 28, is hitting the peak of his career now, and expect him to tear up the qualification group.

#8 - MC - Teemu Hansen - Age 29 - AFC Tranzversa (Swartaz) - 66(4) Caps, 15 Assists, 7 Goals
Hansen has featured in almost every full international for the Terns, and is one of a key core of players that Kirkkegaard has built his team around. A solid all-rounder, his neat interplay passing is the link between defence and attack and he often plays an understated but essential role in the side. Now playing in Swartaz, he nonetheless maintains an almost telepathic understanding with his fellow midfielders.

#9 - ST - Timo Skye - Age 29 - Juvillian Martinax (Erathore) - 67(3) Caps, 10 Assists, 46 Goals
The nation's leading goalscorer, there isn't much that can be said about the enigmatic Skye that hasn't already been said. A classic central striker, his unswerving accuracy and nimble off-ball movement has tormented defences around the world. His temper, ego, and opinions can often get him into trouble, but he is the first name on the team sheet every time. Should easily become the first Tern to go past 50 goals this campaign, and is trying to build a legacy that will last forever. Rumour has it he's getting itchy feet in Erathore, but has never let media attention put him off before, in fact he seems to thrive on it.

#10 - ST - Patrick Ackermann-Finn - Age 27 - A.F.F. (Cafundéu) - 54(7) Caps, 10 Assists, 23 Goals
Ackermann-Finn is a tall and wiry striker, who excels at holding up the ball for his strike partner, or heading in from tight angles. Recently moved abroad to Cafundéu in order to try and learn from one of the highest ranked leagues in the world, Patrick has returned a more learned and experienced player, and don't be surprised if he quietly outshines and steals the spotlight from Skye without all that much fanfare.

#11 - DMC - Jorgen Hauge - Age 22 - Cross SC (Zarbli) - 7 Caps, 2 Assists, 1 Goals
In the absence of the injured Golubev, this is Hauge's biggest test yet. A now established played in the Zarblese Duke League, Hauge as the captain for the U21s in the most recent Di Bradini Cup. A bright future awaits this young lad, who is impressively large even by Polarian standards, and this chance in the starting line-up for the qualification campaign could well be the making of his international reputation.

#12 - GK - Lars Hegg Gammel - Age 25 - Saint-Urbain (Cotdelapoms) - 5 Caps
Lars moved abroad to Cotdelapoms in order to try and win a place in the Terns squad, fearing he'd never get the chance if he stayed stuck behind Atle Andreasson at SK. The move appears to have paid off, replacing Atle on the bench here in the qualification campaign. Is widely expected to replace Karlsson in the number one jersey when he retires.

#13 - GK - Mathias Marek - Age 27 - Jan Mayen Islanders - 2(3) Caps
Younger brother of captain Niko, penalty shoot-out specialist Mathias was the hero of the Burchadinger Cup, coming on to both score and save penalties as a last minute substitution. Is in the squad again, though many feel Andreasson would have been the safer choice, nonetheless he is a dependable keeper for Jan Mayen and his hunger for success drives him onwards at all times.

#14 - AMC - Luc Demarchelier - Age 25 - Parr City (Mytannion) - 29(19) Caps, 15 Assists, 2 Goals
More of a driving attacking midfielder than playmaker van Jendrisen, Demarchelier is one of a handful of Polarian midfielders playing in Mytannion. His powerful runs with the ball seemingly glued to his feet are a regular sight during the closing parts of many matches, as he comes on to terrify tiring defenders. Still plenty young enough to make a massive impact on this side.

#15 - MC - Henning Tir - Age 26 - Decraa United (Mytannion) - 2(3) Caps
A well heeled utility midfielder that can play in almost any position across the midfield range. His usefulness in all positions may have deterred Sol from choosing him, seeing him as perhaps an emergency option, but nonetheless he's a player you'd be thrilled at to have on your bench. May be a little light on experience so far, but with the ageing starting lineup, Henning will surely get his chances sooner or later.

#16 - DMC - Pol Sundstrom - Age 27 - Miago City (Mytannion) - 13(15) Caps, 3 Assists, 1 Goal
Hard as nails and solid as a rock, Pol Sundstrom and Jorgen Hauge playing in the same midfield is a truly intimidating prospect for opposition. Solid in the tackle and excellent at keeping the ball and slowing down the play, Pol could come on to seal games against feisty attacking opposition searching for equalisers, and has a solid header from corners and free-kicks.

#17 - ST - Henning Blonqvist - Age 27 - East Franz Athletic - 22(17) Caps, 1 Assist, 16 Goals
East Franz striker Blonqvist has sealed an almost telepathic relationship with new strike partner Berghoff at club level, but has been unable to nail down a starting position for his country. A stocky and physical striker, he looks to battle his way into poaching positions, and his leap makes him very competitive in the air for his height. Is hitting his physical and technical peak at the moment, and could be a formidable foe on the day.

#18 - ST/AMC - Alexsandr van Sorensen - Age 19 - CR Submiria (Cafundéu) - 13(22) Caps, 11 Assists, 18 Goals
Teenage prodigy Alexsandr is only 19, but is already a key and regular figure in the Tern dressing room. Played a vital role for Jan Mayen before his move to Cafundéu where he continues to impress and is learning every day. Suffers from rare brain condition synaesthesia, but manages to not let this affect his attractive attacking play. Likes to link in from the midfield and can play as either a deep lying striker or a forward thinking midfielder or trequartista, applying his explosive acceleration and going on mazy dribbles that often end in a shot from his sweet right boot. Could change a game in an instant, and could become an all-time legend.

#19 - DR - Kiki Hartmann - Age 28 - Jan Mayen Islanders - 2 Caps
Kiki is a first-teamer for Jan Mayen, yet has found his time in the team limited thanks to the dominance of Sergey Makarov. However, his absence through injury and Petter Nikkel's subsequent promotion to the first team means Kiki gets a berth on the bench. He's a strong and athletic player, who will frustrate and overpower tired strikers if brought on late on in the game.

#20 - DC - Sander Ljungberg - Age 22 - SK Franz Josef City - 0(2) Caps
Vice captain at the DBC, sander is the second import from the U21 squad to graduate to the full senior side for this campaign, and is expected to have the chances to prove to the world and Sol Kirkkegaard just how good a natural replacement for Maarten Berg he will be. Needs to get a few more big games under his belt before he wins over the non-SK supporting Twitchers fully, but will be lighting up the defence with his movement, dependability, and extravagant tackling.

#21 - DL - Pol de Huyer - Age 29 - Cosmopolitan (Cotdelapoms) - 15(17) Caps
Like Pekarik that starts before him, is equally at home on either flank, his dynamic runs often being the start of exciting cross-field moves. Has been in the Cotdelapomais league for a few years now, and has transferred to the more competitive club of Cosmopolitan in order to try and force a way into the starting line-up with more regularity and score his coveted first ever goal for the Terns.

#22 - ST - Amadeus Irndtor - Age 23 - SK Franz Josef City - 1(2) Caps, 2 Goals.
With van Sorensen's move from out and out striker to a slightly more midfield position, that left a spot in the team for a young striker to learn the ropes. Irndtor got the nod ahead of Aer in the end, with his two goals in the Brotherhood Cup impressing the coaching staff. With a lethal left boot and a sixpence turning circle, this speedy youngster is just waiting for his big chance.

#23 - DC - Anton McAllister - Age 28 - Sparrowbottom Athletic (Sorthern Northland) - 11(14) Caps, 1 Assist
McAllister has been unable to hammer down a starting place on a regular basis, thanks to the partnership of Berg and Marek. His time will surely come in the near future, but for now this nimble and sometimes erratic defender will have the time to perfect his gameplay for new club Sparrowbottom Athletic.

RP Notes about Virabia

*Virabia is 100% Vegetarian

*Virabi Customs is nutorious for non citizens. While citizens only have to get their passport checked and stamped, non-citizens have to wait with their baggage for hours sometimes while their baggage is thoroghly inspected by customs officials. This is to ensure that nothing is being smuggled into the country. After this, people proceed to a booth where they are questioned about their visit and have their passport checked to ensure that it's valid and not from a black listed country. Officers also check to make sure that the visa is valid (for countries that need a visa to visit Viraia, the most notable in the World Cup would be Cafundeu). Now since keeping people in a line would be unjustly cruel, while bags are being inspected, people have the right to go about the airport and use all ammenities in the "Secure Zone". This includes shops, restaraunts, restrooms and free Wi-Fi. It is only when their flight is called for customs that they have to report to the customs area where they deal with the officer and pick up their bags. This is a far cry from security which just involves having your ID and bording pass checked. All and all, the average time for customs is only 30 minutes for non-citizens.

*Automobiles are rare in Virabia and are hardly ever used for inner city traffic, and don't recieve much usage even for inter-city traffic. Instead, people make use of an extensive public transit system or in most cases walk or bike. Thus many inner city roads are tram tracks over grass, thin cobbled bikelanes and a "sidewalk" of soft grass.

*In Virabia we drive on left

*In Virabia athletes don't tend to have the celebrity status they have in other countries. They are people too and most, even a few on the national team (Edo, Freeman, Orion, White and Harris) are ameteur. A good number of the non-ameteur are only semi-pro. That doesn't mean their bad, though.

*For Virabi home matches, most tickets will go to the traditionally loud and rowdy Virabi fans.

*Advertisement of almost any forme is banned in Virabia and the VFA employs a strict shirt sponsorship ban. While national teams don't tend to bear corporate sponsors on their kits, some do and like done with visiting club teams, teams have to use kits completely devoid of ads, or with the ads covered up with duct tape. Those who refuse will be made by officials to play the match 100% bare naked.

*Shoes aren't that common in Virabia and those that are worn are for the most part toe shoes. While in the past, the national team has worn special toe shoes , they now only do so in poor conditions. Thus it is asked that opponents likewise play barefoot (aka they will).

*Even in cities, nature fully surrounds you. It is not uncommon to see deer, squrrielsdeer and other animals casually walk by. Since they live in an urban environment they are well used to people but, don't mind them. They have every bit a equal right to the city as you do.

MYTANNION - World Cup 56 Squad.

'Just can't seem to get enough of Hoops!'

Please remember when RPing that in Mytannion, the year is 1992 - and that the players are very determined and fiery, you go in hard on them though and win the ball fairly, they'll be fine with it. If you foul them and then don't acknowledge it, they'll get up and punch you. Quite simple really. So when RPing, you can include that. Also, remember that Mytanar fans are hooligans - at whatever level of football. They chant very, very loud and often cause trouble. They light-up flares often too. If you want to include that, go ahead and be my guest. Oh and we're also used to snow and ice too, as that is our own climate so if it is very hot, we could be in trouble, whereas colder conditions don't faze our players.

Details go like this: Number, Position, Age, Club Team, Caps/Goals.

First XI.
1. Rudi Holzman (GK), aged 23, 1896 Ebor, 2/0.
The young goalkeeper was the man who was at the helm of the 3rd-tightest defence in the Mytanar Takillega last season, he lead his club side to 2nd place as they narrowly missed out on the title. He is also the most-highest capped under-21 player ever. He's tall, has really quick reactions and makes some great saves. He has been prone to some flaps however when the ball is crossed into his area and he sometimes doesn't claim it as he should. He is an all-around nice guy though and is normally one of the ones that gets the atmosphere going inside the dressing room and is probably one of the 'fun' members in the team and has been known to play pranks on his fellow team-members.

2. Adrian Njulae (LB), aged 24, Cosmopolitan (Cotdelapoms), 68/0.
The 23-year old has 68 caps for the national side and has won 1 Mytanar Takillega and 1 Trophie del Nakional in his career. His recent form for both the national side and (now relegated) SK Port Jarko rewarded him with a M(C)15 million move to Cotdelapomais giants; Cosmopolitan - who are the most successful side in Cotdelapomais football history. Njuale is a quick, attacking fullback who times his tackling well. His marking is decent but he isn't the best in the air and that has left him in a bit of trouble from time-to-time. He gets down the wing well however, and often whips balls in which are converted into goals. He takes free-kicks when they are from positions on the left, where the ball can be crossed in from.

3. Speic Fyfat (CB), aged 27, Atletico Jutense (Cafundeu), 68/2.
A strong, strong centre-back. He's great in the air and times his tackles to precision. He has good anticipation too and seems to know where the ball will be a few seconds before it gets there, so his top class positioning and marking make him an asset to any team. He currently plays for Atletico Jutense in Cafundeu which shows the quality the player has. He possibly lacks a bit of pace but that apparently doesn't matter to national team coach, Theo Wekkler. Fyfat has been capped 68 times and has scored 2 goals, both of his goals being headers of course. He is a quiet player, who tries to stay away from the media spotlight and enjoy his privacy - although as he is in the national side; this probably doesn't happen as much as he likes.

4. Ricky Aier (CB), aged 31, Montreal (Cotdelapoms), 69/0.
The oldest player on the current national side has recently completed a move from his home-town club Litala '93 to Cotdelapomais champions, Montreal. He is probably the weakest link in the first team of the national side. This is purely because he is the oldest defender and lacks the pace of his younger years, he is still as good in the air and still as good at tackling, but he has lost his pace and his concentration - which leads to him not marking players as tightly as he probably could. He is a good-guy too, who always leaves his door open to any youngsters who wish to ask him questions about this or that, mainly how to handle the media who - in Mytannion - are notoriously intrusive.

5. Swen Kislasson (RB), aged 24, Olympique du Fontvielle (Valladares), 68/1 (3RD CAPTAIN).
The 24-year old helped his club side to the win of the King's Shield and is probably the best fullback that Mytannion has ever produced. He stays back and helps the defence and commands the team well. He is quick, and his long-range shooting is extraordinary - he is famed for blasting in 30+ yard free-kicks. He is extremely intelligent and can read the game before things have happened. He is strong and a good tackler meaning he is a near-perfect fullback. He could probably get forward better, but that isn't really his game.

6. Jan Mufiak (DM), aged 30, Royal Khaldoon (Queer Poco el Mono Ara), 41/2 (CAPTAIN).
A strong defensive midfielder, he's very tough and good at breaking up the play. He is very determined and won't stop chasing the ball however far behind Mytannion are in a game, his influence is amazing too and he can change the way the team is playing just by shouting a bit of encouragment to his team-mates. He hates losing, and would do anything to win. He breaks up the play and then looks for the best pass and makes it near-enough every time. He can also make deep runs, arriving late into the box to head the ball into the net - and he does it regularly. He is has made 41 caps for Mytannion and has scored 2 goals. His good form for his country during the last World Cup rewarded him with a move to 10 times Una Serie/Pocoan League champions Royal Khaldoon for M(C)20 million; which is certainly a big fee for a player who is getting on a bit in his career.

7. Robin Hjik (CM), aged 23, Atletik Thessia, 71/13 (VICE-CAPTAIN, PENALTY TAKER).
Probably the most important member of the national side by quite a bit. He is a complete midfielder and probably the best Mytanar player ever. He has played 71 games for Mytannion and has scored 13 goals. He has won 8 trophies in his short career (well, we say that, he has been in the Mytanar public spotlight for 6 years), at Atletik Thessia including 4 Mytanar Takillegas and one Rushmore Copa de Campeones. He has played 196 games for his club side, which is a record and has also scored 75 goals. He is a quick player, with a lot of pace. He is also very strong and tackles well, he can run all day as his stamina reserves are seemingly endless. He has pin-point passing and can pick people out from long-range. He also has a very powerful shot and often takes free-kicks because of this. He is a good mix of hard-work and graft and creativity and finesse. He is extremely influential and will probably be the next national team captain. He is the hero to millions of Mytanars and surely will go onto be the best Mytanar player ever.

8. Lenart Goricag (CM), aged 28, Decraa United, 68/8.
Lenart Goricag is one of the most underrated players in Mytannion. He plays for a fairly good team in the domestic league, but he is their main man. He is a defensive central midfielder, who arrives late and volleys the ball in the net - sadly for his opponents, this happens a lot. He also has one red card, the only ever one a Mytanar player has received in international football. His tackling is occasionally mis-timed although it is normally perfect. What sets him aside from other players is his pin-point passing and timing, it is why he scores a lot of goals and also leads the assists charts. He guided them to the Trophie del Nakional this season and scored 15 goals last season. He has 65 caps for the national side and 8 international goals.

9. Radoslaw Famoc (ST), aged 27, Eldorado (Cafundeu), 61/23.
His finishing and pace are a lethal combination, as proved by the fact that he is the top goalscorer for Mytannion in international fixtures. He has scored 23 goals in 61 games. He also plays for Eldorado and helped them to a cup win two seasons ago - in his first season in Cafundeu. He also has the 'award' for being the Mytanar player who has been bought for the largest transfer fee. He was bought by Eldorado two seasons ago for M(C)36 million. He is a real complete package, having the quality, speed and composure to score a lot of goals. The problem with him is that he is slightly big-headed, if he doesn't get the service he thinks his ability justifies, he goes out of the game and seems disinterested. He does have a few moments of single-handed magic whilst in this mood, but often doesn't help the team none when this happens.

10. Dimitry Alixysev (RW), aged 24, SC Lasft (Cafundeu), 2/0.
He is an all-around star player, he is quick and has the skill to beat players down the wing. He is a very determined and hard-working player too and is known for his terrier-like work to win the ball back if he loses it. He's strong and influential and will be a huge part of this side. He is also familiar with many of the national team players, having played with Njulae, Mufiak and Famoc at his home-town club; SK Port Jarko. He is a hard-working, energetic winger and is versatile too, being able to play anywhere across the midfield. His good work at his home-town club over the past four seasons has been rewarded with a M(C)34 million move to SC Lasft, where the famous Babbage Islands midfielder, Tegan Nash used to play. Hopefully he can follow in her footsteps and have a long, illustrious career perhaps winning a World Cup with his nation.

11. Benoit Visoisse (LW), aged 20, Eldorado (Cafundeu), 2/0.
An extremely versatile and creative player, pundits ran out of superlatives to describe Visoisse last season as he scored 19 goals from midfield. He also pushed Parr City to the Trophie del Nakional (the national cup), and was their player of the season. He is expected to be part of the side that at some point in the future will hopefully get out of the World Cup group stage, after we qualified for the first time this cycle. His shooting is accurate and powerful, he is quick, strong, he can dribble through defences like they aren't even there - he scores often from free-kicks, often from open play (he was the 7th highest goalscorer in the league and he's a midfielder). His pace is a huge weapon down the wing too and his crossing is good too, meaning he sets-up plenty too. His big-money move to Eldorado for M(C)28 million and he now teams up with national-side team-mate: Radoslaw Famoc.

Substitutes.
12. Juri Juric (GK), aged 26, Arro (Erathore), 9/0.
A solid goalkeeper who has already made 9 caps for the national side. He jumped from the sinking SK Port Jarko to Arro in Erathore for a fee of M(C)14 million. He is a good solid keeper who tries not to take many risks and concentrates on getting the job done.

13. Sebastian Reindorf (LB/RB), aged 23, Bravia Motors (Swartaz), 0/0.
He is expected to fill in for Kislasson when he moves across to replace Aier after he has retired. He is a quick fullback, and gets down the wing brilliantly. He is a very offensive fullback and is known for gut-busting runs down the wing. He pops up with the occasional goal because of this and gets a lot of assists. His tackling isn't the best, but he marks up well and is good in the air - which isn't all that normal for a fullback. He has been known for the occasional gaffe, but hopefully international experience will only improve him.

14. Fahe Mahuc (CB), aged 24, Parr City, 8/0.
A big money move for young Mahuc took him from Rotor. Argyres to the Moneybags of Parr City. The fee was around M(C) 12 million, and he has done brilliantly since he has moved to the Nastan side. He has the highest average tackles per game statistic of any player in any league in Mytannion and he is also extremely strong - and is good at holding onto the ball even when pressured. He guided them to a Trophie del Nakional win last season, and is a very strong defender.

15. Niek van der Smeejin (DM/CM), aged 23, Hastmead Diamante (Osarius), 12/1.
Niek van der Smeejin is only 23 and yet is already a huge part of the national side. He is touted as a future national team captain and this is mainly because of his never-say-die attitude. He will not admit defeat and chases everything, even if it looks like it is a lost cause. He is a tough tackler, and is clever when he is on the ball - sprinting quickly and looking for good passes. He is a good crosser of the ball too and regularly runs out wide to dink a ball in, and can take good free-kicks. He has helped Hastmead Diamante to consecutive international spot finishes in recent years - he has 12 caps and 1 goal for the national side.

16. Filip Bosc (DM/CM), aged 24, Jan Mayen Islanders (Polar Islandstates), 10/1.
Filip is a creative midfielder, who tends to play as a defensive midfielder. Theo Wekkler has picked him as a central midfielder. He plays deep and waits for the ball - he then spreads the play brilliantly. He is quite strong defensively too, he can break-up the play. He'd be prepared to play for any team abroad and he wants a chance to show his skills on a bigger stage. He signed for Jan Mayen Islanders two seasons ago, who play in Polar Islandstates - and was expected to help them to a title as one of their best players - he completed his goals and helped them lift the trophy last season and also won the Foreign Player of the Season award for his efforts.

17. Dmitri Lja (LW/ST), aged 26, Jan Mayen Islanders (Polar Islandstates), 1/1.
He scored 16 goals for 1923 Esca last season and was possibly the only thing that so nearly kept them up. He has a lot of flair and is very creative, single-handedly dribbling his way through defences regularly. His finishing is brilliant and once he is through on goal, he usually scores. He has pace too and if a ball is played in over-the-top, he usually gets on the end of it. This success rewarded him with a M(C)24 million move to Jan Mayen Islanders in Polar Islandstates where he teamed up with Filip Bosc, his national side team-mate.

18. Miroslav Filo (ST), aged 29, Miago City, 31/13.
Filo was a huge player for his old club side, Olympique du Fontvielle and won the Silver Boot when he was with them - but since he has moved to Marinos Metropolis for big money, his career has been riddled by injuries and has meant that he hasn't got as much playing time as he would have liked. He is a strong, athletic forward who can blast holes in defences with blistering, bustling runs. His finishing is calm and he has amazing composure. He has made 31 appearances for the international side and has scored 13 goals - but he is aging now and isn't the player he once was. Although he should be able to make some great performances late in games. He has now moved back to Miago City and is looking forward to playing for his home-town club after the World Cup.

Reserves.
19. Hannes Urz (LB/CB/RB), aged 22, Atletik Thessia, 5/0.
Urz plays at right-back for his club and he does a brilliant job there for Atletik. However, he is naturally a centre-back and that is where Theo Wekkler has chosen to position him. Urz is a new-breed of centre-back, he isn't strong, a good tackler and good in the air. He is all of them, and more. He can go forward and create play, he is quick and has very good finishing - which is a sign as to why he has six goals this season in eighteen appearances at club level from right-back. His inexperience could be a problem, but it isn't expected to be. He plays with a maturity that a player with ten-plus years on him may not have. He has already made 5 appearances for the national side even at his young age.

20. Leven Koc (LB/RB), aged 21, Hastmead Diamante (Osarius), 4/0.
Was the next big-thing out of the Thessia '23 academy, after they produced Filip Bosc - Leven Koc, was spotted playing in the Zenit Toranj district of the city. He is short, which could be a problem - as he isn't all that strong, but he has beefed up a lot over the past few seasons and has got significantly stronger. He has now moved on to Hastmead Diamante in Osarius, where his national side team mate - Niek van der Smeejin plays. His pace and desire to win games are the two things which have helped him become such an important player to the national side and will probably make him important for his new club side.

21. Mirko Tasecchi (CM), aged 21, Atletik Thessia, 0/0.
Tasecchi is the future of the national side, he is creativity personified basically as his passing is almost laser-guided and he seems to make everything out of nothing. He is also very hard-working and chases the ball; his tackling has greatly improved over the past two seasons. He pops up with excellent goals too, scoring 6 last season whilst getting 20 assists. He also helped Atletik to the Rushmore Copa de Campeones and Mytanar Takillega double last season. The lad from Thessia is a huge talent.

22. Imre Ulsson (RW/ST), aged 26, Sparta (Cotdelapoms), 17/3.
A quick, tall striker. He uses his pace and strength to beat defenders although he isn't the best finisher. He has improved greatly since his younger years of causing trouble, dyed hair and partying. Ulsson is a real weapon, if he works on his finishing - he could well be a complete striker. His inter-play is top class and he can bring his team-mates into the game just with a little flick or a pass and this is why he is such a good player to have.

23. Ure Rundschau (CF/ST), aged 24, Atletik Thessia, 0/0.
A fox in the box, an expert goal poacher, an absolutely lethal finisher. His clinical finishing means he gets a lot of goals for his club side Atletik Thessia - who he has scored 35 goals in 44 games for - an amazing goals to games record. His pace and strength are important and are two of the main reasons why he scores so many, he either speeds past defenders or holds them off in the 6-yard box to turn and score.

Starting Line-Up
1. Holzman
5. Kislasson 4.Aier 3. Fyfat 2. Njulae
6. Mufiak
8. Goricag 7. Hjik
10. Alixysev 11. Visoisse
9. Famoc

Manager: Theo Wekkler, 57. He is the former manager of Atletik Thessia who are the most successful club in the history of Mytanar football. He resigned last season and now concentrates fully on the national side.

Assistant Manager: Uri Sacer, 50. The assistant manager is the one who does the scouting of players as Wekkler is managing his club side during the week. He also takes the majority of training sessions and is renowned for his no-nonsense approach - he makes the players work hard.

Attacking Coach: Lijenost Burton, 47. The famed amateur league striker, he scored 367 goals in 545 appearances in the Amateur League which was the top league before the introduction of the Mytanar Takillega (which is now the top-flight of Mytanar football). Is known to be quite lenient on his players, and focusses on keeping them fit for big games.

Midfield Coach: Danny Richardson, 63. He used to be coach of 1923 Esca, when they were the dominant force in the Amateur League. He was a midfielder when he played. He is known to wander off and drink copious amounts of alcohol rather than coach the players and leaves them to train themselves.

Defensive Coach: Alex Salmond, 58. He uses statistics to coach the defenders, working on the areas where the stats say they've been bad. He is usually visible on the sideline during games with a computer and a television screen - replaying pivotal moments to relay to the coach where mistakes have been made.

Goalkeeper Coach: Mirko Schettler, 43. The former goalkeeper for Miago City - when he was at the height of his career Miago were a force. He is fun and is known for strange training regimes that tend to work. 'Method in the madness' is the line he regularly gives reporters.

Fitness Coach: Lavdrim Yukov, 65. The former doctor, has some mad, mad methods - including repeatedly dropping buckets of freezing water over players heads and making them eat fried lizards to keep fitness. The players refuse, he simply says they won't win. This hasn't been proved either way yet.

Physio: Yohann Estev, 41. Possibly the most normal member of the team management, he does what is needed and does it by the book. If a player is unfit, he will advise the Manager not to pick him. A pretty standard physio, he isn't a miracle-worker.

Stadiums.

Stade Kombarov I, Esca, Mytannion.
The national stadium has 50,000 seats and is exceptional in Mytannion as it is the only all-seater football (soccer) stadium in the country. It still has a massive atmosphere and fans will make a lot of noise. Esca is the capital and it is also the most capitalist city in the nation with lots of foreign businesses all over the place, whereas normally - this doesn't happen at all, with the nation being mostly far left on both economic and social issues.

Maine Road, Thessia, Mytannion.
Welcome to Thessia! The Rushmori Capital of Culture is famous for its' sport and music and the combination means that it was chosen as the inaugural Capital of Culture. The stadium has a capacity of 35,150 - with the Kippax End being it's most famous stand, where all the fans stand up for the whole game - chanting and lighting flares. The banners in this stadium are colourful and oversized and the fans are known to be violent. The stadium is in the poorest part of the city, and the domestic club that plays there - Atletik Thessia - is the heart and soul of East Zenit Toranj (the district of Thessia the stadium is in). Atletik Thessia is the best Mytanar club ever, and the most famous one too.

Oluja Stadion, Ebor, Mytannion.
Ebor is the coldest place in Mytannion - and the whole country is very cold and snowy - so this makes it an extremely inhospitable atmosphere to be playing in. The fans here are very loyal, but not as violent as Thessia fans. This stadium is a more modern one and has a capacity of 22,500. They are used to the cold, travelling fans will have to get used to it quickly - as will travelling players.

Miago Park, Miago, Mytannion.
The fans here have enjoyed some recent success - after the team that play here, Miago City won the Mytanar Takillega last season. Miago Park is one of the newest constructs in our nation. And has a capacity of 30,000 - the majority of this being seating. Which is strange enough in Mytannion. This stadium has great transport links and cheap stadium refreshments, which travelling fans should take advantage of.

Centralstadion, Parr, Mytannion.
The only stadium on the southern isle of Mytannion, Nasto that will see Mytanar World Cup football, although it isn't the only stadium on the whole island! It has a capacity of 22,000. The fans here are loud and passionate, although they are often disliked in Mytannion as the club who own the stadium are extremely rich and buy a lot of talent instead of bringing through youth players - which is the norm in Mytannion, and is seen as the better way of doing things. You will also see a lot of fundamental Ofraics in Parr, which should be an interesting sight as the religion makes the people who follow it very, very noticeable.

If you have any questions about stadia, don't hesitate to TG me. I shall be giving a schedule in one of my RPs that shows which stadiums are being used when.

The Allamunnic States' National Soccer Team
Nickname: Blue, Blue-and-Grey, Grey, Blue Raiders
Style Modifier: +3
Coach: Andrew Forsk (Aged: 43)
Base Formation: 4-3-3 (4 Strikers, 3 Midfielders, 3 Backfielders)
Uniforms: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/85 ... tskit.png/ Home Kit is mostly blue, Away kit is mostly grey.

RP Permission: Please,
TG before doing anything but scorers or game-ending injuries. Injuries outside of game-ending for a player are determined by myself. If you're going to godmod events, make sure it doesn't violate any of the above rules. TG me just to be safe with those. Yellow cards are fine, no red cards without prior approval, please. For preference, I'd like to choose my scorers, unless you absolutely can't wait.
Also, if you godmod an event of any kind, by all means, have fun with it. ;D I'd appreciate a check-in first, all the same.

OOC Note Regarding Nation-Name and Demonym:
The official name of the nation is the Allamunnic States. The demonym is Allamunnic. The term "Fanboyist" is considered IC'ly to be rather offensive, and I will treat it as such in RP. OOC'ly, I don't really care if you use it, but be aware of what the IC reaction will be. I will try not to come across as jumping down anybody's throat. Any percieved IC rudeness is not meant as OOC'ly, as well.

Team Overview:
For quite some time, soccer has taken a back seat in popularity in the Federation; gridiron, ice hockey, and now lacrosse have generally been more popular, with soccer, at best, tying with lacrosse in terms of popularity.

Simple enough, you don't find huge amounts of talent for a sport in a country where it's third- or fourth-best in terms of national attention. So the national soccer team has generally languished in terms of the talent available to it, especially after it, like all other Allamunnic national teams, officially parted ways with the domestic leagues. With players being required to sign on ONLY to the national team (and no club squads), the talent pipeline suffered.

Until last World Cup; Andrew Forsk, despite being stuck in what seems like a fairly thankless job, constructing a team for a middlingly-popular sport out of what most view as second-rate players in a high-profile, high-intensity competetive atmosphere, has managed to improve the team's fortunes; the last World Cup was the closest the team has ever come to a winning record.

Keeping more or less the same squad as last year, Forsk has placed his faith in the most successful configuration of the Allamunnic side to date. With developing young players, plenty of depth, and a determination to get some attention for themselves at last, it would not be at all surprising to see the side do decently this year, even without most of its female players, who will be playing in a concurrent event.

Assuming, of course, that they make it through qualifiers...

Players:

Goalkeepers

#08 - Leopyld HULMS - (20; 5'10"; 201lbs, Goalkeeper)
Having done fairly well on a team that caught plenty of bad breaks in the last World Cup, Hulms returns as the Allamunnic squad's goalkeeper. Hulms' good days indicated his skill as a shut-down keeper can take the team into the future, and so Forsk has placed his faith in the young keeper. Hulms' lack of experience may continue to haunt him, but he's at least shown that he's cool under pressure, and sturdy enough to take a few tumbles or impacts and play like nothing's wrong.

Backfielders

#33 - Theo ARNSTADT - (23; 6'1"; 238lbs, Left Backfielder)
Theo is a larger player who provides a greater measure of physicality that is available to the Thunder's backfield and defensive play. Arndstadt, like much of the team, is a little short on experience. That said, he's got plenty of talent and physicality, and is more than sufficient to kill clock and control the ball, primarily to help the midfielders in this primary aspect of their game. That said, he's getting better, and shows signs of becoming a more-well-rounded player as he continues to develop.

#32 - Danny OTTO - (21; 6'1"; 234lbs, Center Backfielder)
Otto, by contrast, plays like the quintessential Allamunnic soccerer. He's big, he's phyiscal, and he's rather rough around the edges. Otto's inexperienced, and tends to substitute skill and dexterity with strength and physicality; he makes a useful center for the other two main backfielders to work around, a good anchor, but he's not a whole lot of use on his own. That said, his finesse and control are improving, although he's still primarily an anchor and supporting player.

#38 - Lee HARTLEY - (27; 6'0"; 214lbs, Right Backfielder)
Lee is, as one might be able to tell, Nicole's younger brother. Lee is cast more or less from the same mold, and he plays more finely than a lot of other Allamunnic players. He's rather quick, and is useful for forcing turnovers and keeping the ball away from Hulms and the goal. He's picked up a little bit of physicality since WC52, but he's still essentially a finesse player. That said, Lee has a knack for turning a turnover into a counter-attack, and for putting the opponent on their heels.

Midfielders

#41 - Erik DRAKARR - (22; 6'0"; 216lbs, Left Winger)
Erik is a physical player who helps contribute to the Blue's control of centerfield. He's got a little more in the way of finesse, but he's still inexperienced, and still learning. He's useful for setting up plays with the strikers and other midfielders, or for burning time playing keep-away with the other team, either through passing (which he's quite good with), or simple physicality (which he can also do just fine).

#21 - Ryan CARLSON - (21; 6'1"; 221lbs, Left Centerfielder)
Carlsson is a younger, power-oriented player who's another good anchoring member of the center-field. He's more likely to act as a more passive anchor for the centerfielders to work around, and to work with the backfielders and strikers, while leaving more of the pressing to the more aggressive Brom. Carlson is showing indications, however, that he will be a key player on the team; his personality and team-playing tendencies mean he's cement for team unity, and a key supporting player.

#71 - Theo BROM - (18; 6'0"; 196lbs, Right Centerfielder)
Brom is a powerful player who can kick powerful shots on goal, and can be used to control the ball. His inexperience is a slight liability, but given a year or two, he should be able to be integrated fully into the team's midfielder-heavy approach and a key contributor; as it is, it seems like he's poised to make a bigger impact this year. His tendencies, magnetic personality, and increasing speed and lost weight mean that he's gained a lot more break-away and big-play potential.

#81 - Kyl HAALMUND - (22; 6'1"; 240lbs, Right Winger)
Haalmund is a big-play potential player. He's young, already a three-year veteran of the domestic league willing to join the national team full-time, and with plenty of big-play potential, versatility, and talent and unfulfilled potential a-plenty. Like Brom, Haalmund seems poised to become a major playmaker and key contributor this year; even if he lacks Brom's superstar personality, if anything, it makes him play even better with the team, like a well-oiled machine.

Strikers

#24 - Mike TESLA - (26; 6'1"; 219lbs, Left Striker)(CAPTAIN)
With the team getting progressively younger, Tesla has been left as one of the longest-tenured and most-experienced players on the team. His experience, morale-raising influence, and teaching options to the younger players have earned him the honor of being named captain. Tesla has also been forced to, more than simply support and stabilize the other players, to assume a playmaking role as well.

#27 - Derrik CARLSON - (19; 6'2"; 234lbs, Center Striker)
Derrik is midfielder Ryan Carlson's younger brother. Derrik is a versatile forward who can shoot accurately and powerfully on goal, and is quite useful for setting up plays for other strikers. His main disadvantage is inexperience and a tendency to fold in high-pressure situations. However, there are high hopes for Carlson, and an expectation that both of these can be overcome by simply gaining experience. In fact, his starting role indicates that good things might be expected from him this year.

#22 - Derrik LEIFSSON - (21; 6'1"; 220lbs, Right Striker)
Derrik is as close as the team has to an actual star these days with the drought of players brought on by the institution of the volunteer system to the national team. He has the natural talent, play-making ability, physicality and finesse to be a true super-star and to play at the level of many of the world's elite players, to an extent even greater than the other young talent that has found its way onto the squad. Leifsson, in fact, is quite likely to be the team's leading scorer again this year.

RESERVES:
#10 - Thomas RYAN - (24; 6'0"; 200lbs, Goalkeeper)
Ryan is an unremarkable, but reliable goalkeeper. Though he's not as talented as Hulms is, who proved himself in the last campaign, Ryan should make a solid reserve, should he be necessary.

#35 - Honorius HAALDUNN - (22; 6'3"; 250lbs, Backfielder)
Honorius is easily the largest player on the team. He's another part of the unit that can be used against teams that the Thunder want to grind-out or simply ball-hog against to kill time and prevent scoring. As large as he is, he can play exceedingly physically, and can be used to buy time or provide an anchor for the rest of the defense or ball-possessing players.

#28 - Kristina DEPAUL - (18; 5'6"; 144lbs, Striker)
Kristina is a finesse-geared striker, who shoots accurately and quickly (not so much powerfully) and requires little to no set-up before shooting, and she has a knack for getting the ball into the goal, somehow, some way. Kristina, however, isn't so good with ball control, which is a liability on this squad.

#26 - Hendrik KRISTHOLM - (22; 5'10"; 226lbs, Striker)
Hendrik is a more power-oriented stiker; he's useful for keeping the ball around and push the ball around to set up plays and shots for other players. Hendrik is also good for ball control and supporting the other strikers. His own shots tend to be more powerful, but less accurate.

#51 - Zack RILEY - (22; 6'0"; 230lbs, Midfielder)
Riley is another versatile midfielder who can be used either as an additional ball-controller or as an attacker in the team's midfielder-based attack. Riley's relatively experienced by this team's standards, with a mix of finesse and physicality. Riley's skill makes him a player likely to be rotated in.

#36 - Olson PARMELE - (23; 6'0"; 235lbs, Midfielder)
Parmele is a truely versatile player; large enough to be physical, experienced enough (five years or so in the domestic league) to have learned plenty, and with enough finesse to be a major threat downfield or to keep the ball away from the opponent, even to help press the attack to quickly capitalize off of turnovers.

#23 - John HORST - (26; 6'0"; 220lbs, Midfielder)
John plays as an anchor in the middle of the field with the strikers, and is more than capable of making some excellent shots on goal. That said, his main contribution is his physicality which lets him keep control of the middle of the field, and set up shots on goal for other players, even if he's capable of taking them himself as well.

#34 - Selyn JORDAN - (20; 5'6"; 146lbs, Midfielder)
Selyn is one of the backfield's available finesse players, who can be used to help press the attack quickly to help capitalize on turnovers. Selyn is a faster player who, like much of the team, lacks experience. She'll mostly rotate, since the team's manager doesn't think she's ready to start or take on heavy play duties yet.

--Forwards: ------ DEPAUL ---- TESLA ----- KRISTHOLM ----- LEIFSSON
Centerfield: ----------- DRAKARR ------- R. CARLSON ------ BROM
--Backfield: ------------- ARNSTADT ----- OTTO ----- HARTLEY

OFFICIAL NEWMANISTAN WORLD CUP 56 ROSTER

Newmanistan Timeline Note: The Newmanistanian timeline considers all sporting competitions in its progression, therefore there will be irregular gaps of time between Cups, based on when other sports have played. Presently, the year is 2104 in Newmanistan, which will make it just one year since World Cup 55. It’s been a short turnaround, comparatively speaking. As such, roster changes are very minimal.

Style Modifier: +2

RP Permissions:
Choose my goalscorers: Yes
Godmod scoring events: Yes
RP injuries to my players: Yes, but only say they are hurt, I will determine severity.
Godmod injuries to my players: No
Hand out yellow cards to my players: Yes, no more then one more then you give yourself.
Hand out red cards to my players: Yes, no more then one more then you give yourself.
Godmod other events: TG your idea for approval first. I’m generally open to this kind of thing, but only arranged ahead of time.

Additional RP Permission Info: There is no bigger pet peeve to me then REAL WORLD pics used in NS Sports. Therefore, there are to be no such pictures posted to any of your RP's which would have a Newmanistanian player also in the picture, in any capacity. Additionally, if we are at home, there are to be no stadium shots in any way in the background. If this is ignored, you will see yourself called out to the hosts on the discussion thread for a penalty.

Computer generated images are fine. In fact, I like computer generated images.

Home Stadiums: Each home game will be played in a different Newmanistanian Stadium. When the schedule is released, watch for my first RP afterwards which will show where the games are.

Base Formation: 4-3-3

Now, let’s get to that roster.

**** COACHING STAFF ****

Head Coach: Steve Tremblay
Age: 49
Club Team: Loudon Leopards
Bio: Steve was given this role for the Comeback team in WC54 and with him leading the way, the Rockets advanced all the way to the World Cup. It re-energized the fan-base, and put football back on the map, so to speak. Naturally, this means expectations will be raised, but Steve can handle it. He prefers a cautiously offensive style, and is a “players coach” in the locker room. The fact that the team rebounded from the failed qualifying effort in WC55 to get a runner-up performance in the Cup of Harmony erased any thoughts that could have surfaced about where or not he would retain the position.

Assistant Coach: Tony Allen
Age: 42
Club Team: Hampton Bulldogs
Bio: Preaches a defensive style at home, and does a great job getting the most out of the players he puts on the pitch.

Assistant Coach: Nathan Emerson
Age: 44
Club Team: Springfield Thoroughbreds
Bio: An offensive minded coach who’s focus will be on drawing up attacking tactics.

**** STARTING LINEUP ****

Name: Danny Marshall
Position: GK
Age: 23
Jersey #: 1
Club Team: South Charlotte Condors
Bio: Danny’s best attributes are his reflexes, and ability to out-think shooters. It was a crazy qualifying campaign for Marshall, who was the sub at the beginning of WC55, and inherited the role of starter after starter Kyle Perry committed suicide following an 8-0 loss to Sorthern Northland. He did his best in the remaining qualifying games, but really did well in the Cup of Harmony.

The back end returns, in its entirety.

Name: Chris Dayten
Position: LB
Age: 21
Jersey #: 3
Club Team: Pocono City Capitals
Bio: You don’t get signed by the Capitals as a 14-year old unless you are something special, and Chris has shown to be just that. After two seasons of playing for their “B”-League affiliate, Dayten got full-time duty in the NPL and impressed, winning the Rookie Defender of the Year award. He starts for the third Cup.

Name: Myron Jackson (***ALTERNATE CAPTAIN ***)
Position: LCB
Age: 26
Jersey #: 2
Club Team: Pocono City Capitals
Bio: Myron is addicted to working out. He is the first to enter the gym, the last to leave, and sometimes has to be begged to actually, leave (in fact when he was 16, his then girlfriend dumped him because the only thing he was in love with, was the workout room, in her opinion). This has paid off though as he is a man of incredible physique. He uses it to his benefit on the field, and will treat your player roughly, but at the same time, do it very cleanly and within the rules. Very, very rarely is booked. He’s one of those players you’re forward will hate during the game, but at the end of it, respect him a lot. Many feel his incredible work ethic has had a lot to do with the quick rise of Chris Dayten in Pocono City, and they are probably right. Yes, he still datin’ Dayten’s sister.

Name: Robert Cosgrove
Position: RCB
Age: 27
Jersey #: 4
Club Team: Centralia Cougars
Bio: The kind of defender that likes to take chances, both in challenging a shooter, and then offensive chances of his own. Those risks are justified due to the power of his shot, and he must be accounted for by the opposition on set pieces, especially. Since Centralia employs such a defensive system, when those risks backfire, teammates usually back him up. Is the brother of World Baseball Classic player Rachel Cosgrove (conveniently made up now on the spot since I realize I have used this last name twice! :) )

Name: Steven Bryant
Position: RB
Age: 29
Jersey #: 7
Club Team: Brighton Bulls
Bio: Steven is a rock. He isn’t quite as ripped as Jackson is, but he will be physical as well. Another difference is though while Jackson is rough, but clean; Bryant will be rough and dirty. Though the Prescotts are gone from our rosters now, he grew up watching them, and loves the way they played. He has this thing about being especially rough on people from democratic countries.

Name: Vinnie Prawn
Position: LM
Age: 23
Jersey #: 24
Club Team: Athletic Khaldoon (Queer Poco el Mono Ara)
Bio: After being a substitute in the last two World Cup cycles, Prawn is moving up to the role of starter for WC56. He can be agitator, trying to get under the skin of the top players of the opponent, but don’t let that have you forget about his offensive instincts.

Name: Kevin Boyle
Position: CM
Age: 21
Jersey #: 15
Club Team: South Tier Seagulls
Bio: Boyle is a great friend of Edward Robertson’s off the pitch and often joins in with his charitable functions since they play for geographically close club teams, and matched Robertson’s donation at the end of the season. Kevin is also speedy and agile, and just as dangerous. In an effort to get him and Robertson on the pitch and utilize his speed more, Tremblay is starting him in the midfield, which is not where he plays in South Tier, but has shown the all-around ability to be able to succeed here.

Name: Aaron Huckabee
Position: RM
Age: 22
Jersey #: 10
Club Team: Tundra Falls Mariners
Bio: Possesses everything you could want in a player. Deadly shot, has speed, and is very smart. He’d play up front, but he is best as a winger and used here. Look for him also to be the delivery man on set-pieces. “Huck” was considered the team-MVP for the entire World Cup 54 effort. In 55, he was a little quieter, but still one of the leaders of the team.

Name: Michael Couture (***TEAM CAPTAIN ***)
Position: LS
Age: 29
Jersey #: 11
Club Team: Springfield Thoroughbreds
Bio: Old-timers familiar with Rockets teams of the past can associate Springfield with offense, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the Thoroughbreds are continuing to live up to their reputation. Couture broke out about five years ago, scoring 42 goals in a 46 game season, and since then has scored no fewer then 39.

Name: Edward Robertson
Position: ST
Age: 21
Jersey #: 13
Club Team: Southport Tigers
Bio: Speedy and agile, Robertson is thrust into the spotlight this year with increased expectations in his second Cup. That should tell you all you need to know about how highly we think of him. Plus, he’s a model citizen. After scoring a goal, instead of celebrating, he will drop to one knee and say a prayer. He dedicates all of his goals to his brother, who is autistic, and donates 10,000 gold coins for every goal he scores to charities for autism.

Name: Shane Bartley
Position: ST
Age: 27
Jersey #: 9
Club Team: Tundra Falls Mariners
Bio: When Shane was 6 years of age, he attended the Jeremy McAllister, Jr football camp and told little J-Mac that one day he would play for the national team. Well, his plans were side-tracked by the Empire’s failure to participate in two, but now the prolific scorer has done so. Be aware that Aaron Huckabee is his teammate with the Mariners. Be afraid of the potential of this combination due to that familiarity.

**** SUBS ****

Name: Steve Greene
Position: GK
Age: 29
Jersey #: 21
Club Team: Hampton Bulldogs
Bio: Greene is a newcomer to the World Cup, although he appeared on the Cup of Harmony roster to be the official replacement for Kyle Perry. He is an agile youngster, and motivated to make a name of himself so he can get out of Hampton and play with a big market club, whether in Newmanistan, or elsewhere.

Name: Brett Richmond
Position: CB
Age: 22
Jersey #: 8
Club Team: Loudon Leopards
Bio: Defensive defender who will rarely have his name in the paper, but does everything you would want from someone in the back. Seen as a future starter; he started in DBC 16.

Name: Alexander Gilles
Position: CB
Age: 24
Jersey #: 5
Club Team: North Charlotte Wildcats
Bio: A gritty and physical defender, who will make things very difficult on your forwards if they think they can just dribble on by him. He’s also known to take an occasional run on offense if an opportunity presents itself. Also started in Di Bradini 16.

Name: Jason Wilcox
Position: MID
Age: 22
Jersey #: 28
Club Team: Jessicaville Tycoons
Bio: Jason is an interesting story, because he is from Amherst, Secristan originally. By now you have heard that Newmanistan has annexed Secristan after that nation went CTE. The Emperor thought it was important to get one player, who’d still be eligible as an uncapped player, to represent the Rockets that was from there in hopes of continuing to make the transition of becoming Newmanistanians easier for those people. Now having said all that, don’t think he’s only here because of that. He’s got a damn good and accurate shot, too.

Name: David Colman
Position: MID
Age: 30
Jersey #: 6
Club Team: Southport Tigers
Bio: Colman has deceptively good speed on the wing that you must respect, and he is also very good in delivering a cross. He’s not the kind of guy you are going to find on the scoresheet much, or get booked, but he always seems to find a way to get the job done. He is known for his consistency with the Tigers. Started in WC55, he is seen to have had an off-Cup, though Colman insists it wasn’t his fault.

Name: Kenneth Snider
Position: MID/ST
Age: 27
Jersey #: 12
Club Team: Putnam Lake Eagles
Bio: Depending on the game situation, he may also be used as a midfielder or striker. He has good speed and is great at setting up his teammates. Watch for him to click well with the forwards here. His achilles heel is his size (or lack thereof), but he overcomes that to the best of his ability by watching how the elves of nations like Valanora and Dorian and Sonya are able to do their thing. Started in WC55, but loses out in the numbers game with Tremblay’s promotion of Boyle.

Name: Shawn Franklin
Position: ST
Age: 18
Jersey #: 25
Club Team: Southport Tigers
Bio: Possesses all the talent you want. He’s just young. You’ll see more of him in the future. Very motivated now to become more then “that guy who dumped Courtney Keisler”.

**** RESERVES ****

Name: Clinton Vassar
Position: GK
Age: 35
Jersey #: 22
Club Team: Hampton Bulldogs
Bio: He’s not the third best keeper in the country, but he was considered the best keeper out of those that coach Tremblay could count on taking this role while not getting a big head and thinking they should be the starter. (Or perhaps, play). His experience will make valuable where we will be used: in practice.

Name: Lenny King
Position: CB
Age: 24
Jersey #: 23
Club Team: Dover City Mountaineers
Bio: Started in Di Bradini 16. He’s a gritty, physical defender; but also smart. Honestly, he’s just caught in a numbers game right now and would be capable of more playing time.

Name: Todd Smith
Position: CB
Age: 21
Jersey #: 27
Club Team: Centralia Cougars
Bio: They are still playing great defense out there in Centralia, and Smith is next in line to be one of their superstar defenders. He does everything well, but some say he can be outmuscled. Maybe he can, but he’s young. Started in DBC 17, and a rookie to the senior team.

Name: Stanley Leffler
Position: MID
Age: 23
Jersey #: 29
Club Team: Olympia Gladiators
Bio: Gritty presence on the wing, and is usually “defense-first” in his mindset. Good with longballs, though. His brother Wayne is a former World Cup player.

Name: Justin Cooney
Position: ST
Age: 19
Jersey #: 32
Club Team: Thumbria Bay Sharks
Bio:Not quite as speedy as the starting forwards, which is what keeps him from being higher on the depth chart, but his shot is just as dangerous.

Sorthern Northland national football team
Image

Formation is 4-4-2 with a style modifier of +3.

Number, name, age, position (n/a for goalies and forwards), club (club's country in brackets, if not a Sorthern club)

Goalkeepers:

1: Yasser El-Borolossy, 28 y/o, Royal Khaldoon (Queer Poco el Mono Ara) Injured isn't he? Silly sod.
13: Stephen Nightingale, 25 y/o, Atletik Thessia (Mytannion)
23: Sonia Fuentes, 20 y/o, Castrograd

It's said that you have to be a bit mad to be a goalkeeper and Sorthern keepers arguably are. El-Borolossy is known to celebrate goals by jumping around on the crossbar. Having previously been a club mate of El-Borolossy at 17th of October where he was rated as one of the best in the land for sitting on the bench and looking bored Nightingale is well suited to being a reserve keeper. Even if moving to Atletik Thessia has given him ideas about actually playing. Dropping the World Cup during celebrations at the last tournament seems to have kept him out of the starting eleven however even if he has been elevated to second choice. Third choice Fuentes is the next big young thing in goalkeeping. Hopefully.

Defenders:

2: Grace Tyler, 22 y/o, right back, Beningrad
12: Rachel Campbell, 24, right back, Areck Furness
3: Paddy O'Mahony, 21 y/o, left back, Royal Khaldoon (Queer Poco el Mono Ara)
22: Hafdís Valbergsdóttir, 30 y/o, left back, Snowspire Communal

The two starting full backs of recent times couldn't be more contrasting. Whilst Tyler, having learnt her trade at Beningrad from former international Laura 'not just in the squad 'cos I'm the daughter of the founding ex-leader of the nation' O'Bagels, has gone into the the national XI almost as soon as she's established herself at club level, Valbergsdóttir had to be more patient, and then didn't last long as first choice. The young O'Mahony instead takes that role, having impressed since moving to Royal Khaldoon, or at least we like to think he has.

5: Conor Riordan, 19 y/o, centre-back, Areck Furness
6: David Black, 30 y/o, centre-back, Petardos S/A (Cafundéu)
15: Saif Al-Mukbari, 33 y/o, centre-back, Étoile Rouge (Cotdelapoms)
16: Kayleigh Wheelock, 18 y/o, centre-back, Sparrowbottom Athletic

The centre of Sorthern Northland's defence is either the wrong side of twenty or the wrong side of thirty for many people's liking. Black and Al-Mukbari are clearly going downhill as athletes but have a reading of the game that few can better. Having said that Al-Mukbari's continued inclusion is something of a surprise following what many see as a step down in moving to Cotdelapoms. He is however the first World Cup winner to play in that nation's league. Of the two youngsters Riordan is seen as the bigger talent having been a regular in the Furness side since his 18th birthday. The ball playing Wheelock has impressed with a calmness and maturity somewhat beyond her tender years in the handful of appearances she's made for Sparrowbottom.

Midfielders:

7: Saiorse Ní Fhionnagáin, 21 y/o, right winger, Corcaigh
21: Tadhg Ó Lorcáin, 30 y/o, right winger, Ranca Toco (Cafundéu)
11: Baral Qaavigaaq, 33 y/o, left winger, Juvapanam (Kagdazka and Pazhujebu)
17: Fearne Gibson, 25 y/o, left winger, Windlesham Town

Despite having had several years to establish herself for club, Gibson is still mainly a player brought on from the bench for impact and looks unlikely to do anything more internationally, and whilst Qaavigaaq is still a good player, that Gibson has been unable to force the rapidly slowing 33 year old out of the team perhaps says more about her than it does of the Juvapanam man. Whilst Ó Lorcáin remains a potent force it seems he'll have to settle for a place on the bench with Ní Fhionnagáin looking set to be given the nod having been one of the few bright lights of Sorthern Northland's most recent AOCAF Cup campaign.

4: Arnold Tnetennba (vice-captain), 29 y/o, central midfielder, Juvapanam (Kagdazka and Pazhujebu)
8: Aisling Ní Cheallaigh, 31 y/o, central midfielder, Rio Bonito (Cafundéu)
18: Alejandro Carmona, 24 y/o, central midfielder, Castrograd
14: Jean-Pierre Gagnon, 26 y/o, central midfielder, Parr City (Mytannion)

A second mover to Kagdazka and Pazhujebu (well one of those at any rate) Tnetennba has fully matured into being worthy of being a mainstay in the national team since his move abroad. Also moving on up from reserve to first choice is Ní Cheallaigh, who having spent years being talked about the bestest playermaker ever in Sorthern Northland, once she gets a chance, is now into her second World Cup of having that chance. Whilst impressive in helping the country to winning World Cup 55 many feel that she is expendable. Her saving grace for now could lie in Carmona and Gagnon both being players more suited to the box-to-box role taken up by Tnetennba with there being something of a lack of potential playmaker replacments.

Forwards:

9: Eulàlia Marxuach (captain), 33 y/o, Beningrad
10: Clive Costly, 20, Cafundó do Juta (Cafundéu)
19: Joana Crescas, 27 y/o, Castrograd
20: Matty Bloodworth, 23, Banna Rovers

Marxuach have both proved to be lethal at club level, whilst questions had previously been asked about Marxuach at the top end of international football, her performances in captaining Sorthern Northland to the World Cup 55 title have gone a long way to quietening her critics. The early end to Dermot Wolfetone's career due to illness has been a bitter blow for Sorthern Northland. Having played just two seasons of professional football, Clive Costly looks to be Wolfetone's replacement, breaking into the national side partly on the basis of having a rather good début season for Snowspire, eighteen goals in a début season is no mean feat, and partly as part of a government campaign for there to be more people called Clive in football, a campaign that has since been expanded internationally to Cafundéu, look out for a Cilvealdo in years to come. Not too hard though. Despite playing in a Banna Rovers side that mainly battles against relegation Matty Bloodworth breaks up the Crescas family monopoly of reserve forwards by taking up Joaquim's place on the bench. How friendly Joana will be to him on the bench remains to be seen and could be one of the exciting developments for this side during the tournament. Because it's not like the world champions are going to provide excitement any other way is it?

1-11 will be the usual starting line-up.

Manager: Iarlaith Mag Aonghusa
Assitant managers/coaches: Tighearnach Ó Conaill & Amets Urzúa

Civil Citizenry National Team
Roster

Ramelon Pardag Head Coach ~ #00 ~ 49 years old
The new head coach of the Citiz is defensive-minded, so he will change the team formation from a 3-4-3 to a more traditional 4-4-2. Hoping to take advantage of a stacked midfield, he will make use of the entire field. He’ll have tough shoes to fill: his predecessor led the team to the forty-seventh Cup of Harmony quarterfinals, and to the brink of qualification into the fifty-fifth World Cup. Leading the fifty-ninth-ranked team in the multiverse, a nation’s hopes are pinned on Pardag – and those hopes include qualifying for the World Cup proper.

Hellgmao Bobjik Goalkeeper ~ #01 ~ 35 years old ~ 0 goals ~ 23 caps ~ Eastern Chase
Despite his age, his grip on the starting spot in goal is unquestionable. Since the death of former starter Jassem Lahreumiash, Bobjik has performed above expectations on the international stage. His superb saves nearly led Eastern Chase to a King’s League title, and helped them defeat Athens Town to win the Golden Championship. With the team’s new emphasis on defense, he will play a more pronounced role.

Clëbirg Hamflak Left Defender ~ #02 ~ 33 years old ~ 0 goals ~ 43 caps ~ Hurricanes (Taeshan)
Hamflak is another aging starter who has essentially platooned with Germtillopagg Oyt since World Cup 54. He will continue in that role, though with added confidence after signing a big two-year contract with Taeshan’s Hurricanes.

Ibheag Charmler Center Defender ~ #03 ~ 29 years old ~ 0 goals ~ 50 caps ~ North Woodlands
Interestingly, the back line doesn’t get much younger, despite Pardag’s greater emphasis on defense. Charmler is a team leader, though he is not the top defender on the team by any stretch. With no real threats to his starting spot, expect him to be on the field for most of the qualifying campaign.

Onp Tassl Center Defender ~ #04 ~ 32 years old ~ 0 goals ~ 47 caps ~ FC of Groundery
Adding thirty-two years to the already-geriatric defense, Tassl usually plays under the radar, but his speed is invaluable to the team. Partag will be heavily leaning on him to anchor the defensive line.

Fanbeth Yheaqup Right Defender ~ #05 ~ 33 years old ~ 0 goals ~ 40 caps ~ FC Axel Heiburg (Polar Islandstates)
Rounding out the defense is Yheaqup. Since becoming one of the first Citiz players to play for a Polarian team, his game has greatly improved, making him an integral part of the team. He is injury-prone, so Partag will monitor him carefully.

Remmettöl Yerkkery Left Midfielder ~ #06 ~ 28 years old ~ 4 goals ~ 60 caps ~ East Kent Professional
Long a part of the Citiz lineup, Yerkkery will be challenged for the starting spot by young Marpio Van. He will need to prove his worth by adding more goals than he has contributed in his international career.

Daloteat Awtitata Center Midfielder ~ #07 ~ 28 years old ~ 6 goals ~ 66 caps ~ Resolute Storm 1913 FC (Polar Islandstates)
Entering the prime of his career, Awtitata will be expected to score more often for a midfield that has yet to maximize its potential. The first Citiz to play for a Polarian club, his muscle makes up for his lack of speed; he is one of the dirtiest players on the team.

Tazz Reppible Center Midfielder ~ #08 ~ 26 years old ~ 11 goals ~ 72 caps ~ Hospice FT
Reppible is the most likable player on the team, and the unofficial team leader. With his 19 goals in the Lord’s League last season, he comes into the World Cup as one of the hottest players on the team. He’s played in every Citiz international game, and plans to keep that streak going throughout the tournament.

Xapöp Welssh Right Midfielder ~ #09 ~ 27 years old ~ 4 goals ~ 61 caps ~ FC Cape St. Paul (Polar Islandstates)
Welssh tied for second in the King’s League for most goals scored, with twenty; his production took Eastern Chase to the brink of a title. Then the team decided to transfer him to Cape St. Paul in Polar Islandstates, and his spirits are higher than ever. Though he only has four goals in international play, reviewers expect that number to go up during the upcoming campaign.

Imaneta Acca Left Forward ~ #10 ~ 23 years old ~ 20 goals ~ 72 caps ~ Athens Town *CAPTAIN*
The team captain is Acca, who has the most international goals in Civil Citizenry history. At just twenty-three years of age, this will be his third World Cup qualification attempt – experience that the squad needs. He has played in every single international game for the national team, scoring twenty times in seventy-two games. Now more than ever, he will be pushed to lead the team to Valanora and Sorthern Northland.

Vomare Eksyama Right Forward ~ #11 ~ 27 years old ~ 16 goals ~ 72 caps ~ Revolutionaries (FSSO)
Eksyama fills out a fast, explosive attacking line with Acca. The former Citiz leader in international tallies, he is still one of the team’s best threats to score. After a campaign in which the team scored fewer goals than most of the Cup’s competitors, despite hanging around third place in the group until the last day, Eksyama looks to receive more opportunities to put the ball in the net.

Yazugla Lagarete Goalkeeper ~ #12 ~ 29 years old ~ 0 goals ~ 0 caps ~ North Woodlands
Making his national team debut at twenty-nine is Lagarete. He starred for North Woodlands in the King’s League last season – enough to earn him a spot as the new backup for Hellgmao Bobjik in goal. Though Bobjik is in top form, Lagarete will provide needed protection whenever the starter falters.

Germtillopagg Oyt Left Defender ~ #13 ~ 25 years old ~ 0 goals ~ 41 caps ~ Dominion (Cotdelapoms)
Oyt technically isn’t a starter, but given the amount of playing time he has and will continue to receive as a left back, he might as well be. He is just twenty-five years old, making him a more prudent choice than Hamflak; however, they will platoon together as they have for several years now.

Lernngahshtill Umtadfiz Center Defender ~ #14 ~ 31 years old ~ 0 goals ~ 3 caps ~ Merrilin FC
He’s made just three international caps, but Umtadfiz has been selected for yet another World Cup squad. Charmler and Tassl seem to be secure in their starting positions; at thirty-one, Umtadfiz may not see much more time on the field.

Birohë Backorag Center Defender ~ #15 ~ 27 years old ~ 0 goals ~ 0 caps ~ Athens Town
Backorag made a name for himself in the last King’s League season, aiding a defense that catapulted Athens Town to a late championship. His selection seems to be a formality, as it may be a while before he sees time behind three men as a center defender.

Pëlmabo Xefazos Right Defender ~ #16 ~ 31 years old ~ 0 goals ~ 0 caps ~ Bondage Safe
Impressing many in his tenacity for Bondage, Xefazos only has a few more years left in his career. Still, he may see time in the lineup if Yheaqup suffers an injury.

Marpio Van Left Midfielder ~ #17 ~ 24 years old ~ 1 goal ~ 32 caps ~ Hill Lane
The twenty-four-year-old is right on the heels of Yerkkery to start as the team’s left midfielder. His 0.03:1 goal-to-game ratio is misleading: he was often substituted towards the end of games, when scoring was not critical. Now, Van will look to capitalize if Yerkkery falters.

Puollol Geffnen Center Midfielder ~ #18 ~ 26 years old ~ 0 goals ~ 25 caps ~ Kalvar FC (Swartaz)
Geffnen will be the first Citiz in a Swartazian league, but it remains to be seen how much trust Partag will place in him. He is scoreless in twenty-five international appearances, and critics say Reppible and Awtitata are far past him in intensity and heart. Geffnen will use this upcoming campaign to silence doubters and establish himself as a force for the Citiz.

Zucigel Hasibmal Center Midfielder ~ #19 ~ 27 years old ~ 0 goals ~ 6 caps ~ Team Lannymore
Hasibmal became a star as an integral member of Athens Town, but unless he can shine on the international stage his reputation may go down as a result of a transfer to Lannymore. Partag seems to favor him over Geffnen as the top backup for the center midfielders – so we may see him play more minutes this cycle.

Setabang Smifh Right Midfielder ~ #20 ~ 30 years old ~ 2 goals ~ 30 caps ~ FC Sandside
Despite the presence of Welssh, Smifh has seen quality playing time in the past. His two goals were no flukes, and he will be counted on to continue contributing on the offensive end.

Elstmahajaja Pitojek Right Midfielder ~ #21 ~ 29 years old ~ 0 goals ~ 10 caps ~ Baker Fief
Pitojek had a subpar season for Baker Fief, but the CFA decided to choose him for the national team once again. Firmly implanted behind Welssh and Smifh, it remains to be seen if he’ll have the opportunity to cement further national team selections.

Allballca Feoaimu Right Forward ~ #22 ~ 31 years old ~ 7 goals ~ 70 caps ~ Briarmore FC
Feoaimu is the lone casualty of Partag’s formation change. As the starting lineup loses a striker, he will be forced to sit behind the stars – Acca and Eksyama – hoping to receive some of the playing time he had been given for the last two World Cups. He is coming off a leg injury that kept him sidelined for two-thirds of the King’s League season. Still, his seven international goals and seventy caps cannot be ignored, so Partag may find himself in a bit of a pickle when it comes to utilizing this talent.

Porlet Bat Kishmaner Left Forward ~ #23 ~ 26 years old ~ 1 goal ~ 13 caps ~ Cosmopolitan Cote-Ast (Mytannion)
He hasn’t played in many games previously, but Bat Kishmaner shouldn’t be counting on much more in the near future. Though he will be a team leader on the Mytanar Cosmopolitan club, he hasn’t impressed many as a national team forward. He’s only twenty-six, so he has lots of time to prove that he deserves to move up on the depth chart.

Soccer Daily

19 July 2011

World Cup Roster announced for #227 Michael VII

Well, just a week after bowing out of the 43rd Baptism of Fire, the BoF which will go down in Michael VII footballing history as the one where we competed, and were eliminated with 7 other teams claimed in the round of 16. Michael VII lost in a tight encounter to eventual runners-up, Bleak Rock. Following this, the job is not done for the footballers of our proud nation, with the World Cup qualifiers still to come. After the most recent rankings list produced, Michael VII were ranked #227, a far cry away from the top 32 (195 places to be exact) that are expected to make the World Cup Finals tournament.

Over the past few days, those in the Michael VII FA have worked frantically to find 7 international friendlies against many of the top ranked nations among the NS Football world. Such nations include, #26 Andossa Se Mitrin Vega, #28 Pretty Awesome Persons, #40 Osarius and #99 Sarrbia. Plus, Michael VII play #189 Southern Cynocephali, 3rd place at BoF 43, #247 Darmen and #266 Jimmer Fredette, an American Football rival of Michael VII. Meaningless to say, Michael VII have no easy opponents, with five of the seven opponents ranked higher, and two others within 40 places. Obviously the matches against ASMV, PAP, Utica and Sarrbia will be the big matches, and Michael VII will have to prepare very well for these four teams, as the stadiums will sell out, and our players could be in front of more than 100,000 fans against the world's best. Football fans prepare for some crazy ticket sales, because Michael VII have four of these seven matches at home, and two of them during the Pre-Qualifying stage.

Michael VII Friendly Schedule
1. @ 99 Sarrbia (Pre-QF)
2. v 28 Pretty Awesome Persons (Pre-QF)
3. v 26 Andossa Se Mitrin Vega (Pre-QF)
4. v 40 Osarius (Mid-QF)
5. @ 189 Southern Cynocephali (Mid-QF)
6. v 247 Darmen (Post-QF)
7. @ 266 Jimmer Fredette (Post-QF)

Flag of Michael VII on the golden portion of the strip. The numbers are to be Red (#FF0000) on all uniforms. The player names should also be capitals and of the same colour. The Shorts are to be White, as are the socks, but the socks are to have a blue trim on the top.
Away Uniform
Solid White (#FFFFFF) top and Solid White shorts also. The numbers and names for the away shirt are to be the same as the home shirt. The flag of Michael VII is in the same position of the uniform as it appears on the home uniform. The socks are to be the same as the home strip.
Goalkeeper Uniform
Entirely Red with Flag of Michael VII on same side of uniform as home and away uniforms. GK number in white, socks to be red. GK name also in white.

So, Michael VII, led under the guidance of Coach Dave Assen have a long and hard task ahead of them. Should they manage to defeat their high ranked friendly opponents, they may have a very good shot at qualifying on first attempt for the most prestigious competition in NS. If not, then football fans could be in for the long haul, as their rank may suggest, things won't be pretty. BUT soccer matches are never won on paper, and its now up to the players to show off their skills to the rest of the world, and perhaps come up with an upset, or four. That's it for now, we'll catch up soon. Note to all Primera Liga followers: All PL games have been put on hold while Michael VII are competing in WC Qualifying and Friendlies. FC Jagoza United currently lead the standings on 67 points, Frbiba City in second on 62, and FC Jagoza City in third on 55. Riverside City United are currently wooden spooners on 39 points, 7 points from 12th (The last team not in the relegation zone)

GO MICHAEL VII!!!

Bears Armed

‘The Bear-Belles’

Please note that this is, once again, a unified team that represents all of ‘Bears Armed’ rather than just the country’s ‘Mainland’ section.
Yes, it still is an all-female team. As I’ve explained before, this is because the main ball-game that's traditionally been played in Bears Armed is actually a form of Rugby, but [for several reasons] the professional league for that sport is all-male and so some of the female players decided that switching to Soccer — and trying to establish a professional league for that sport for themselves instead — might be a viable alternative: They were right, because that professional league was founded shortly after WC44 and so has now been in operation for over forty years.

According to the timeline for this nation, the qualifiers for WC56 are starting in 2057AD. The figures given here for people’s ages & lengths of experience should therefore be increased by 1 year for the second half of the qualifiers and then by another year for the ‘World Cup itself or (if we don’t manage to qualify for that…) the ‘Cup of Harmony’.
People whose ages are marked with an asterisk in these notes are amongst those who were [mysteriously] “rejuvenated” back in 2042, while lost on the way to DBC15.

Staff

Manager & Chief Coach: Marra SunDaughter (female Ursine, a member of the ‘Sun Clan’; played in BoF31 & WC44, as the usual starter at ‘Left Forward’ and the team’s Captain, scoring a good proportion of the Belles’ goals’, and was also captain of her home team the 'Sun Valley Smashers’, but subsequently had to retire from active play due to a crippling injury to her right leg; involved in coaching her home team since then, and ‘Deputy Chief Coach for the national team during WC45; became Chief Coach for WC46, retaining that job when the ‘Bear-Belles’ became the “national” team of the ‘Mainland’ alone from WC47 onwards and became Manager as well after WC49; Soccer experience = 10 years as a player, now in her 45st year as a full-time coach; official age = 75* but now looks & moves more as though she’s back in her mid-30s instead, left-pawed, fur = golden-brown, good eyesight even by human [rather than Ursine] standards... She played in 2042’s Queen’s Cup and the following year’s Draggonnii Inviyatii, as well as managing the Belles during both of those contests, but then reverted to a purely off-the-field role once again…)

First-Deputy Manager & Chief Coach: Sunnarra o Redwood (female Ursine from Clan Redwood, formerly played for 'Heroes' Park Harlequins’ and for 28 years for the BearBelles too as a Defender/Midfielder [ usual position = ‘Lynchpin’], promoted to this job in between the qualifiers & Cup proper for WC53; age = 50, right-pawed, fur = light brown; quite fast; has a degree in Military Science. Sunnarra made her ‘international’ debut in Oxen Cup 11, but wasn’t then selected for a World Cup squad until WC48.)

Deputy Manager & Chief Coach: Errmintrra o RedSun _ Clan = Red Sun [Free Sept]; played as Striker or Winger [usual position = Right Forward] for ‘NorthPort Navigators’ for 26 years; she actually made her ‘international’ debut as a reserve in the “undivided” ‘Bears Armed’ team for the ‘WC46’ cycle, as its first ever recruit from within the Northlands League’, and remained with them after that for both ‘Oxen Cup11’ & ‘WC47’ then became Captain of the ’NorthBears’ instead; doubled as that team’s ‘Attacking Coach’ for the ‘Cup of Harmony’ in the WC51 cycle, and retired from playing to take up the job of Deputy Manager for the reunified national team instead shortly after the decision to re-merge the two teams had been taken; played for the Bear-Belles in the Draggonnii Inviyatii of 2043, player-manager of the NorthBears again for their revival during WC53; official age = 58* but now looks more as though she’s back in her mid-30s, right-pawed, fur = light reddish-brown, above-average eyesight.

Deputy Manager (Admin): Urradarra o SwanWater (female Ursine, from Clan GreenWoods; formerly Deputy Manager of the Heroes’ Park Harlequins, and more recently a staff member at BAMAS [as it then was], originally appointed to this job for ‘Oxen Cup 14’; age = 48, fur = medium-brown & quite long [but fashionably so…], left-pawed).

Deputy Coaches _
Goalkeeping:
Bella DeBruin _ Clan = WestWoods, Goalkeeper, had a lengthy & successful career as a goalkeeper for 'Wiston United' (“What a pity their attack wasn’t as good…”), made her international debut for the Bear-Belles in the qualifiers for WC47 & remained in their active roster right through to the end of their participation in WC50 when she was selected for this job instead; playing experience = 31 years then, plus parts of 2042 & 2043; age = officially 57* but now looks & moves more as though she’s back in her mid-30s, left-pawed, fur = dark brown.

Goalkeeping/Defence: Emma o RedSun _ Clan = RedSun [‘Free Sept’]; plays for = ‘Snowspire’ (Sorthern Northland), category & usual position = Goalkeeper, experience = 24 years as player + 14 years as coach; age = officially 57* but now physically as if back in her early 30s instead, right-pawed, fur = reddish-brown; of proven ability, actually made her ‘international’ debut as a reserve in the “undivided” ‘Bears Armed’ team for the ‘WC47’ cycle but was transferred to the NorthBears as soon as those were established separately and played for them until the end of the Cup of Harmony following WC51; subsequently retired from playing, to help coach the nation’s “unified”U21 team, and was amongst the people who were mysteriously “rejuvenated” when they got lost on the way to DBC15 but has not returned to playing at the national level since then.

Defending: Jerrane o Grey _ Clan = GreyBear; with 24 years of experience as a professional footballer for various Clubs (most recently ‘Kabano Zepelin’ (‘Somewhereistonia’)) as a good all-round Defender & Midfielder, and having played as one of the ‘Bear-Belles’ from ‘Oxen Cup10’ until they were eliminated from WC50, she has now been spent 17 years as a [full-time] coach with one year during that period when she briefly returned to playing as well; age = officially 60* but now looks more as though she’s back in her early 30s, right-pawed, fur = ash-blonde, good eyesight, used to be a bit hot-tempered at times but mellowed with age… and has not reverted fully to her earlier impulsiveness being rejuvenated.

Attacking: Elga ‘the Leopardess’ Lightning _ Clan = Gunnar, spent 29 years with ‘PassPort Athletic’ as a Midfielder/Forward ( preferred position = Midfield Centre or Midfield Right or Right Forward) and was a player with the Bear-Belles too from DBC9 to the end of WC50 after which she was selected for this coaching job — although she spent parts of 2042 & 2043 combining that with playing again — instead; age = officially 55* but now looks more as though she’s back in her mid-20s, right-pawed, fur = light brown; very keen eyesight, not as heavily built as most other Ursines, very agile & quite fast on her feet.

Doctor: Mitzi von und zu Steiffen (female Ursine, from Clan Kettar-Surra; age = officially 56*, left-pawed, fur = light brown.)

Physio: Gerrthra o Barrdenn (female Ursine, from Clan GreenWoods; age = officially 55*, left-pawed, fur = dark brown.)

Routemaster: Lieutenant-Colonel Harron o Harrha (male Ursine, from Clan BerryGlades and the Confederal Army’s General Staff Corps; age = officially 53* but looks quite a bit younger than that , left-pawed, fur = dark-medium brown & cut quite short: just appointed to the job, which involves handling all of the squad’s travelling arrangements.)

Security Chief: Urrthra MoonShadow (female Ursine, Silver-of-Night Clan; she is a ‘shabear’...), who doubles as the team’s ‘One Plus Seven’ chaplain.

Caterers: (To be confirmed…)

“Mascot”: ‘The Wise Grorrfinn’ (male ‘TrueBear’; age = undisclosed [but considering some of his appearances in old stories apparently somewhere over 1’500, at least...], ambidextrous, fur = medium-brown); during WC54 it was revealed that he is the maternal grandfather of Urra ‘Honey’ SunBlesséd.

“Mascot #2”: Sarra Elizabeth Thunder (female Human, from Clan Gunnar; age = 8¼, right-footed, hair = blonde, cute and lively… She is the daughter of the national U21 team’s manager, Karra Thunder, but her father’s identity is not yet public knowledge.) She will usually, at her own insistence, be wearing a child-sized version of the team’s kit…

Roster

(#1) Urrathanna o BerryGlades _ Clan = BerryGlades; home team = Barrdenn Barbariennes, category & usual position = goalkeeper, experience = 23 years; age = 36, left-pawed, fur = medium-brown; promising as a youngster, when she still had some growing to do, she is now fully-grown at 7’1” tall and still has a definite knack for getting to shots that look as though they should be out of her reach. (Oxen Cup 13 was her international debut: She played as the Belles’ starting goalkeeper during their first qualifying match of WC53, when she let in three goals before being replaced, but her League performance in the following years was good enough to win her another chance.)

(#15) Rosa o SnowWhite _ Clan = SnowWhite [‘Free Sept’], home team = ‘Stonengarten UH’ (‘Andossa Se Mitrin Vega’) (acquired by them from ‘NorthGate Nomads’, who are one of BA’s professional teams although perhaps not quite of the first rank), experience = 25 years; age = 38, right-pawed, fur = ash-blonde, ancestry = ‘brown bear’. (She played internationally as one of the ‘NorthBears’ before the latest merger.)

(#31) Marra o Mara _ Clan = BerryGlades; Home team = ‘Belgium FC’ (The Babbage Islands) (newly transferred…), category & usual position = Goalkeeper, experience = 9 years, a verrry promising youngster; age = 23 years, left-pawed, fur = dark-medium brown. (DBC17 was her international debut.)

(#2) Beorranna-Sarra o Daybreak _ Clan = Urrset, home team = Sun Valley Smashers, category = Defender, preferred position = Left Back, experience = 13 years; age = 30, left-pawed, fur = reddish-brown & trimmed quite short. (DBC16 was her international debut.)

(#3) Beorra BigBear _ Clan = GreenWoods; Home team = Barrdenn Barbariennes, category = Defender, usual position = Right Back, experience = 16 years; age = 28 years, right-pawed, fur = dark-medium brown. (She made her international debut as a member of the smaller-than-planned team that Bears Armed sent to DBC15.)

(#16) Dorra o Starrhkan _ Clan = Seabear (in the Northlands), home team = Harr Borran Heroines, category = Defender or Midfielder, preferred position = Left Back or Midfield Left, experience = 14 years; age = 28, left-pawed, fur = light-medium brown. (DBC16 was her international debut.)

(#17) Jhargeena o Wirrene _ Clan = Herrchaum, home team = Mighty Herrchaum, category = Defender, preferred position = Right Back, experience = 7 years; age = 22, right-pawed, fur = very light brown with some reddish hints; languages spoken = Verrene, Ursine ('HeartWoods' dialect), and English; religion = 'Wookha' ; she sometimes seems to have a sort of "sixth sense" about what's going to happen on the pitch during the next few moments; off of the pitch, she favours loose skirts and draped scarves in bright (& often contrasting) colours, with more jewellery than is typical for Ursines (i.e. her people's equivalent of a 'Gypsy chic' look…) in emulation of her [rather distant] relative Arna-Maggra… (The only new addition to the team since WC55, so far, she was actually short-listed for DBC17 but had to stay at home instead back then due to a family emergency…)

(#4) Urra ‘Honey’ SunBlesséd _ Clan = Sun, home team = ‘Sun Valley Smashers’, category = Midfielder/Defender, usual position = Defensive Centre, Soccer experience = 52years, and she has been in the national team since BoF31; age = 69 (but, although not amongst the people who were “rejuvenated” in 2042, she still seems quite ‘young’ both physically and mentally…), right-pawed, fur = ‘honey-brown’, very good eyesight even by human (rather than Ursine) standards. She is a very accurate kicker, and therefore one of the usual first choices for taking free kicks & penalties. Her nickname comes from her fur-colour, and her very sweet nature: Originally it was also because (as we must admit…) she was rather “thick”, but then she ‘grew-up’ mentally during WWC12 & the qualifiers for WC50 so that now she has a verrry good mind indeed… She acted as manager for the [“unified”] U21 teams that Bears Armed entered in DBC13 (=> runners-up) and DBC14 (=> quarter-finals); She is the team’s Captain.

(#5) Sammhra Fairbarrrhn _ Clan = Sun; Home team = NorthGate Nomads, usual position = Lynchpin, experience = 19 years; age = 37 years, ambidextrous, fur = blonde, eyesight = good even by Human standards; a very good tactician. (WC53 — playing for the ‘NorthBears’ — was her international debut.) She is the team’s Deputy Captain.

(#20) _ (reserve ‘Lynchpin’ position, currently not yet filled)

(#6) Urrthra ‘White Lightning’ Lightning _ Clan = Gunnar, home team = Newton Arsenal, category = Midfielder, usual position = Midfield Left, experience = 22 years; age = 35, left-pawed, fur = verrry light brown; nimble & decidedly fast on her feet, she has good eyesight even by Human standards. (DBC 14 was her international debut.)

(#7) Marra Charwin _ Clan = Harruorr Erruur, home team = Heroes’ Park Harlequins, category = Defender/Midfielder, usual position = Midfield Right, Soccer experience = 13 years; age = 29, ambidextrous, fur = light brown. (DBC16 was her international debut.)

(#21) Cierra o Vorross _ Clan = GreenWoods, home team = River City, category = Midfielder, usual position = Midfield Left, experience = 13 years; age = 26, left-pawed, fur = light brown with paler reddish highlights. (She made her international debut as a last member of the smaller-than-planned team that represented Bears Armed in DBC15, having travelled to that competition as a supporter but then been “drafted” to fill one of their vacant places due to her status as the ‘National Under-15 Keepy-Uppy Champion’…)

(#23) Beorra o Hrram _ Clan = March, home team = Wildfair Wildlings [Junior League], category = Winger or Midfielder, preferred position = Midfield Right or Right Winger, experience = 11½ years; Harr'aynau; age = 25, right-footed, hair = russet; twin sister of #30, with whom she shares a rapport that makes them especially effective when working together.

(#10) Beorra-Marra-Charra o Redwood _ Clan = Redwood, home team = Merlchester Rovers, category = Forward, usual position = Centre Forward, 23 years experience of Soccer; age = 36, ambidextrous, fur = medium brown with hints of dark red. (DBC 14 was her international debut.)

(#11) Errsae Moonlight o Herrchaum _ Clan = Herchaum, home team = Heroes’ Park Harlequins, category = Forward, preferred position = Left Forward, 20 years experience of Soccer; age = 34, left-pawed, fur = silvery when in moonlight but otherwise light brown; sometimes seems to have some sort of ‘second sight’ about what’s going to happen in the next few seconds…. (DBC 14 was her international debut.)

(#12) Jhargeena Lightning _ Clan = Gunnar, home team = Newton Arsenal, category = Forward, usual position = Centre Forward or Right Forward, 21 years experience of Soccer; age = 35, right-pawed, fur = light brown, good eyesight even by Human standards, fast on her feet; identical twin of #13, with whom she shares a rapport that makes them especially effective when playing together. (DBC 14 was her international debut.)

(#24) Marrai Longday _ Clan = Sun (Northlands branch), home team = NorthGate Nomads, category = Forward or Winger, preferred position = any Forward, experience = 13 years; age = 26, left -pawed, fur = blonde; sometimes [still] seems a bit ‘dizzy’ in personality, but a versatile player who is not only good at getting the ball but generous about sharing it with her team-mates too. (DBC16 was her international debut.)

(#25) Beorranna o Fizzbang _ Clan = Gunnar; Home team = Newton Arsenal, category = Forward, usual position = Centre Forward or Left Forward, experience = 17 years; age = 29 years, left-pawed, fur = light-medium brown. (She made her international debut as a member of the smaller-than-planned team that Bears Armed sent to DBC15.)

(#26) Marvra WestFarer _ Clan = Westfarer [‘free sept’], home team = Heroes’ Park Harlequins, category = Forward, preferred position = Right Forward, 18 years experience of Soccer; Harr’aynau, age = 32, right-footed, hair = ginger. (She made her international debut in DBC 14, but her first chance in the Belles’ main team didn’t come until the group stage of WC53.)

(#32) Harroya o SarnDale _ Clan = Herrchaum, home team = ‘Belgium FC’ (The Babbage Islands) (newly transferred…), category = Forward, preferred position = Left Forward or Centre Forward, experience = 16 years; age = 29, left-pawed, fur = silver-brown. (She made her international debut as a member of the smaller-than-planned team that Bears Armed sent to DBC15, when she was on the ‘long list’ for selection and then “drafted” from amongst the travelling fans to fill one of the vacant places.)

(#13) Darronthna Lightning _ Clan = Gunnar, home team = ‘Newton Arsenal’,, category = (Attacking) Midfielder/Winger (preferably deployed on the right), usual position = Right Winger, experience = 21 years; age = 35, right-pawed, fur = light brown, good eyesight even by Human standards, fast on her feet; identical twin of #12, with whom she shares a rapport that makes them especially effective when playing together. (DBC 14 was her international debut.)

(#14) Urra ‘the Leopardess’ OldWood _ Clan = Redwood; home team = Grambridge Town, category = Winger, usual position = Left Winger, experience = 17 years; age = 30, left-pawed, fur = medium-brown with silvery highlights, good eyesight; She has made a name for herself in the league as a goal-scorer, especially from ‘set pieces’. (She made her international debut in the qualifiers for WC54.)

(#27) Urra um Karrai _ Clan = GhostBear; Home team = Barrdenn Barbariennes, category = Forward or Winger, usual position = Right Winger, experience = 16 years; age = 29 years, right-pawed, fur = light brown. (She made her international debut as a member of the smaller-than-planned team that Bears Armed sent to DBC15.)

(#30) Samarra o Hramm _ Clan = March, home team = Wildfair Wildlings [Junior League], category = Winger or Forward, preferred position = Left Winger or Left Forward, experience = 11½ years; Harr'aynau; age = 25, left-footed, hair = russet; twin sister of #23, with whom she shares a rapport that makes them especially effective when working together.

Usual line-up _
Starters: #1 or #15 (alternating), 2-3, 4 [u]or5 (alternating), 6-7, 10-14.
Substitutes: #15 or #1, #16, 20, 23, 24 or 25, 27 or 30.

Style: Offensive, modifier = +3.5… ("A good offence is the best defence"...)
Their usual formation will include a front row of at least 5 (normally arranged as 3 strikers & 2 wingers), with 2 midfielders, 2 backs, and either a ‘Defensive Centre’ (whose starting position would be at the midpoint of an imaginary cross drawn between those other four non-forwards’ positions) or a third midfielder depending on the Manager’s decision before each match.

Opponents may _

Choose my goalscorers: Y (but the Forwards, and then the Wingers, are likeliest to fill this role...)
Godmod Scoring Events: Y

RP injuries to my players / Godmod injuries to my players / Hand out Yellow cards to my players / Hand out Red cards to my players: Y to all, at least to start with, but remember what I've written here and keep it in limits accordingly... Any serious offences by my players would probably result in injuries to your players, and causing any serious injuries to my players would probably require such obviously-deliberate attacks that your players would get yellow or even red cards as a result too. Don’t kill anybody, or inflict injuries that would be serious enough to end careers, without checking with me & getting my approval (which is unlikely to be granted…) first.

Godmod Other Events: Y, I suppose, at least as long as you do so in an AMUSING way... but please remember that Ursines are fully sapient beings, as much as Humans are, not instinct-driven animals. Oh, and of course female Ursines are not sexually interested in Humans (of either sex), and it's very unlikely that female Harr'ayanau would be either. Please don't have them run amok or outright revert to animality, without checking by TG first, don't make assumptions about their views on politics or religion, and don't do anything that would make more than one of them incapable of playing in their next game...

Kit: This incarnation of the team will mainly wear the usual set of designs (from ‘ediraf’) that the Belles have favoured in the past, with the ‘Association’ badges correctly staying ‘BAAS’ rather than [the now obsolete] ‘BAMAS’. See "here" for details.
However when participating in the ‘Pink Cup’ they will switch to the NorthBears’ former violet strip, which was produced by Tenderville, instead.
Bears Armed has traditionally used base-8 arithmetic, for several reasons, and this has affected the set of numbers used for this team’s players: Also, the number “22” has deliberately been left unassigned out of respect for its first [& only] wearer who died a heroine’s death during the year immediately following WC444…

Home grounds
1/. Wimbley Stadium:
Located a few miles to the north-north-west of Council Groves (our capital city), to which it is connected by rail as well as by road, this stadium was built from scratch — on part of a former Confederal Army base’s site —shortly before the qualifiers for WC52 began as a replacement for the Bear-Belles former “home” at ‘Plumtrees Park’ which has now been demolished. Its current capacity is approximately 60'000 for Ursines: Fitting about 40’000 humans into the visiting fans' half should be possible, and so that's as many as we'll let into the country. Accommodation for visiting teams & their staffs will be provided in a new hotel, less than a mile away, which has staff who are accustomed to dealing with Humans as well as with Ursines. The various other hotels in that complex and those at Council Groves can now provide about 10’600 rooms at a time, at varying prices, although of course some of those may already have been booked by people who have nothing to do with the Cup. Accommodation (at a fairly basic level) for up to 15’000 supporters will be available, at reasonable prices, in students' residences for the National University’s campus in that city: if any more than all of those facilities put together can house want to attend a match then they’ll have to borrow space in the area’s remaining Army camp instead...
There are still no direct inter-regional flights into Council Groves, so that visitors will have to travel by way of one of our neighbours and then continue onwards by one of the limited number of "local" air-flights or by rail. (People planning to arrive by rail will still have to travel via the nation of Mikitivity, but extra services will be organised on that route...)
This site will be used for some of the Belles’ home games (list to be added), and also for some of their friendlies & matches in other Cups during this period as specified separately.

2./ ‘NorthLands National Stadium’: Located at NorthPort, the most cosmopolitan city in The Ursine Northlands, this facility was originally built for use by the 'Northbears' WC49’s qualifiers. Unfortunately the place has since seen rather less use than was originally hoped, but it is still in good condition and will hold about 43’000 Ursines or over 60’000 humans (or, of course, proportionate numbers of a mixture of those two species) as it was deliberately built to be rather larger than 'Plumtrees Park' which was then the Mainland's 'national' stadium…
This site will be used for some of the Belles’ home games (list to be added), and also for some of their friendlies & matches in other Cups during this period as specified separately.
Foreigners coming to this stadium may either travel to the ‘Mainland’ and then continue hence via a set of ancient [& probably magical] ‘Gates’ that link the country’s two sections — completing their journey by either rail or riverboat after that — or take ship directly to NorthPort.

3./ New Grafford: Located at WestPort, just inside the country’s border with Mikitiuvity, this is the home ground of 'WestPort Wonders' who have been one of the National League’s leading teams for most of its existence. It is widely acknowledged as one of the National League’s best stadiums, and has a capacity comparable to WimbleyThis site will be used for some of the Belles’ home games (list to be added).

NOTES

Ursines may tend to be a bit less agile & slower to accelerate than humans on average, but this team's members were carefully selected so the gap between them & their opponents in this respect should be narrower than some people might expect. They do tend to have [slightly] poorer eyesight than humans, on the whole (although the members of both Clan Gunnar and the Sun Clan are generally an exception to this rule, and the eyesight of the latter group is actually often at [slightly] better-than-human levels instead), so long-distance passes & shots at goal will tend to be rarer behaviour for them than they are for human teams... but their typical size & strength mean that when they're running with the ball it will probably take a very brave human -- as well as a very skilled one -- to tackle them successfully, which should balance that factor pretty well. They don’t jump very well, but then they’re generally rather taller than most Human players to start with...
Ursines are physically robust, of course, which means that they're much less likely than humans are to suffer injuries in falls or collisions. The females of this species are more even-tempered than the males, and the team's members will try to stay on their best behaviour not only in order to do well in this contest but also to impress upon the watching humans that Ursines aren't just "dumb beasts". They will not 'dive', or feign injury in other ways, because suggesting that they could be harmed so easily goes strongly against the grain. ‘Northlanders’ are maybe not quite as "civilised" as the 'Mainlanders'… or, at any rate, that’s the traditional stereotype..
Cold weather should pose no problem to them, even if there's snow or ice on the pitch, but tropical heat might prove awkward...

Unless our hosts at the match in question object, this team's members (including the designated substitutes for the match in question) will perform a [fairly short] ritual that's called the 'harrdiharr'[/url] on the pitch just before play begins... This is a traditional war-dance, meant to over-awe opponents, that has come to be a customary prelude for team games as well (similar to the [RL] New Zealanders' 'haka'...). : )
As has now been seen during various tournaments, some of our fans like to take drums — and possibly cow-horns, or other "musical instruments", too — along to the matches…

The Confrederated Clans (and other Confrederated Bodys) of the Free Bears of Bears Armed
(includes The Ursine NorthLands) Demonym = Bear[s]; adjective = ‘Urrsish’.
Population = just under 20 million. Economy = only Thriving. Average Life expectancy = c.60 years. If the nation is classified as 'Anarchy' there still is a [strictly limited] national government... and those aren't "biker gangs", they're traditional cross-Clan 'Warrior Societies', generally respected rather than feared.
