A note on religion in the Mujin Empire

Some foreign scholars - particularly since the start of the so-called Shinjo Revival in the late 1930s, when the religiously-zealous Shijo Emperor took the throne, have commended on the Mujin Empire effectively being a Theocracy. While it is true that Buddhism is the state religion and that the influence of various emperors over the year has made Rinzai Zen and its various offshoot schools the most popular religion in the empire, there's no formal statute nor decree requiring adherence to this practice. Further, the Statute on the Rights of the Religious of 1947 explicitly grants freedom of religion throughout the empire and its dominions.

Flaireis officially includes Spiritualist Universalism (similar to Theravada Buddhism in practice, but with respect paid to most major world religion's main teachers as being very wise. Its holy book is a compendium of passages from texts of major religions, including the Bible, the Vedas, the Qur'an, and et cetera.) However, this religion was mostly created as a proxy for "we respect all religions" and it isn't widely practiced.

The majority in Lillorainen follows Norse Paganism; the organization is maintained by a number of cults (the main cults being those of Aegir, Odin, Thor, Freyja, Sól,Tyr, and even Loki). There are also other, non-Norse cults, like the Cult of Boginja and the Cult of Svarog. It is neither mandatory to be a member of any cult in order to count as a follower, nor to follow only one, which is why overlaps are possible.
Religious minorities also include the known Abrahamic ones.
Freedom of religion is granted by the constitution - and even if it wasn't, Lillos generally respect other people's beliefs (but expect the same mutually).

Since Lillorainen's geography is currently being overhauled a 'tiny' bit, most information on it posted before December 12, 2018, is not entirely reliable anymore. In accordance with the revolutionary laws enacted following the successful communist takeover in 1955, there is a nationwide prohibition on general freedom of religion, and a state-enforced form of state atheism labelled by the governmental authorities as “the people’s faith”.

While Akrafjall officially has a secular government; many Akrans practice Asatro.

“Asatro” is the worship of the Norse gods. The religion does not only involve the gods, but also the worship of giants and ancestors. Asatro is a relatively modern term, which became popular in the 19th century. The Vikings did not have a name for their religion when they encountered Christianity. Therefore they called it “the old way” (Forn Sidr), as opposed to Christianity, which was the new way.

The majority of the Larubanese population is irreligious. Some still participate in the traditional spiritual practices of the Larubanese religion, but this is largely due to cultural tradition rather than actual belief in the religion. Even before the spread of irreligion throughout Laruban, religion was never a very important part of Larubanese life.

Primarily Buddhist, Shinto, or both. Despite this, the people are very indifferent about religion. This, like Laruban, is moreso due to cultural tradition than to true faith. Officially, Ōzeki is secular.

While it is called Templaric Christianity. Due to its traditions and religious rituals are linked to the Medieval Order of Knights Templar. It is not a Catholic Church instead it is a heavy bible based church that puts emphasis on the Book of Leviticus. Following Levitical Moral Law. Most of the Nations laws will be based on the Clerics interpretation of the Old Law.

In Stojam. The most practiced faith is Christianity.
With the most practiced sect of Christianity is Eastern Orthodoxy.
With minor Roman Catholic and Eastern Catholic Christians and very minor Protestants (Slavic Protestants) who are generally Baptists and Evangelical Christians.
And very few fragments of Shia Islam left from the civil war between Shiites and the Christian government, the Shiites were transported to their country of origin under a population exchange treaty. (The Shiites arrived there from Muslim colonization of Stojam by a Shiite power).
The rest of the very few minorities are Jews who haven't immigrated to Israel yet.

there is not single belief that represents a majority of nolo-gapians.

the largest following of any one belief would be the nalanuthu,
(a taoist/shintoist/indiginist, and this is only an approximation) belief,
who's name means simply way or path in the mountains.

it represents no more then 31% of the population.
at that, this is the largest percentage of following of any one belief.

the second largest, is a more generalized agnosticism, at 24%.
even both of these combined is barely a majority at 55%.

every belief imagined and many more unimaginable exist and are represented among our divers population,
none being more officially recognized then any other.

oddly enough, absolute athiesm is less then ten percent,
though this is still greater then our equivalents of christianity and islam,
which together represent less then one percent.
(their nearly only followers are mostly scholars of obscure alien cultures and beliefs)

Tchemaape'ism is the majority, official, and divinely governing religion of The Holy State of Maukalaab. Members of the Ethnic Maukalaab people are overwhelmingly members of the Tchemaape faith both here and abroad.

Around 20% of the inhabitants of the state are not of the Faith. These are mostly foreign ethnicities present for trade or displacement reasons.

Tchemape is a faith based on the teachings of the great prophet Yidapaz Ren, who taught in Habuno, a land shortly to the west. He taught that the physical and spiritual realms of man were created by the Tchemaape, meaning "unseen city," a collection of roughly 3 dozen nameless and (to humans) indistinguishable spiritual entities being God in unison through their common peace and combined knowledge. He also outlined the beliefs and ethics by which one should live according to the Tchemaape, that they might partake of their peace upon leaving the physical realm for the spiritual realm. Heaven and Hell are not separate places, but states of mind on the same plane. The strongest souls of this plane have some influence in the mortal world, but very little compared to the Tchemape, who can speak creation and destruction into reality according to their will.

After his life, Ren entrusted the faith to 9 followers to spread the word and each estabish "Keyholder" cities. When a theological dispute arises, the High Priests of these cities shall meet in Habuno until 8 reach a consensus, in which case, if the 9th refuses to accede, he is defrocked before he can leave. Sobi, capital of Maukalaab, is a Keyholder city, and its High Priest presides over an Ecclesiastical Senate governing the country.
