As for your nation, what points of your nation’s history could have turned out differently?
For Pavonistade, several events could have diverged from the original timeline:
Commander Ebom fails to conquer the Pavonistadian mainland
What went down: Commander Ebom led the Hals'se Combine, one of the large indigenous nations that existed before the unification of the Pavonistadian mainland. In 204 CE, the Hals'se Combine conquered the last independent combines (nations) on the Pavonistadian mainland, though Ebom died just before the final victory. Subsequently, the Jopj Combine was founded by Ebom's successor. Through various principles and policies (e.g. semi-autonomy and protection of personal liberties) considered far ahead of its time, it was not only able to unify all Pavonistadian islands, but also make substantial developments in social/economic/technological fields.
What could have happened: Commander Ebom could have lost (and died) in one of the battles he fought in, or the Hals'se Combine could have failed in its campaign before the unification of Pavonistade. Another combine could have unified the Pavonistadian mainland instead, but it would have ruled its indigenous citizens completely differently from the Jopj Combine due to different cultural and political values. Alternatively, Pavonistade could have remained fractured with various combines rivaling against one another. If this happened, advancement of ancient Pavonistadian civilization would have slowed or be delayed by as much as several centuries, and ancient Pavonistadian civilization would have never reached the maximum extent gained by the Jopj Combine.
Christopher Columbus discovers Pavonistade
What went down: Christopher Columbus went on a voyage across the Atlantic in hopes of reaching Asia. His voyages brought him really close to the Pavonistadian islands, though in each trip, he and his crew reached the New World. His voyages to the Americas later set in a new wave of European colonization in two faraway continents previously not known to exist.
What could have happened: Christopher Columbus could have ended up setting foot on Pavonistadian soil instead of reaching the Americas. Thus, not only would he and his crew not reach Asia, they would not have known about the New World. A wave of European colonization (albeit smaller) would have been focused on Pavonistade, causing much greater strain on the native Pavonistadian environment as well as local nations such as the Jopj Combine. Also, at best, the discovery of the New World would be delayed; without the knowledge that the New World existed, world history and human advancement may have progressed completely differently from the current timeline.
