11th Strike Task Force Arrives In Angola For Upcoming Joint Naval Exercise With African Nations

Shaojiang (Rear Admiral) Zhang Yijun, the incumbent commander of the 11th Strike Task Force, met with Angola's current defense minister and naval commander at Lobito Naval Base, where they discussed about the upcoming joint naval exercise Mlinzi wa Bahari 2041, which will involve Huaxia's National People's Navy, the Angolan Navy, and several navies of the member states of the African Union. The exercise will commence at July 5 and will involve up to 57 warships from twelve different nations.

A large international maritime warfare exercise hosted by the African Union and held biennially, the first Mlinzi wa Bahari exercise was held in 2031. The fifth exercise in the series will focus heavily on live-fire gunnery and missile exercises; maritime interdiction and vessel boardings; and anti-surface warfare, undersea warfare, naval maneuvers, air-defense, and counter-drone exercises. Participants will also collaborate in explosive ordnance disposal, diving and salvage operations, and mine clearance operations. While Angola is the host nation for the fifth exercise, Huaxia will lead the exercise itself, which it has been doing ever since the first exercise in 2031. Despite being an African naval exercise, Huaxia is the only non-African nation to ever participate, showcasing the fraternal friendship and solidarity between Huaxia and the numerous nations on Africa. Another reason is that Huaxia provides large sums of foreign aid to the African Union, which allows the continental union to hold the Mlinzi wa Bahari exercises in the first place.

Until the exercise begins on July 5, naval personnel from the participating navies will spend the upcoming days engaging in inter-cultural festivities hosted by the local government of Lobito. Militarization Of The Arctic And How Russia's Backyard Imperialism Can Threaten Huaxia's Interests In The North Pole

Harbin (Caijing) — Militarization is increasing in the Arctic, transforming the North Pole from a once mainly-peaceful region into an additional regional hotspot, as well as a new arena for Russian's own backyard imperial ambition that could threaten Huaxia's trade routes through the Arctic.

As the SFRA has close relations with Beijing due to Huaxia's role in turning Alaskan independence into reality and helping balkanize and fracture the former US, this move violates Huaxia's commitment to the territorial integrity of its close friends. Two factors drive this aggressive posture: Alaska's mineral wealth and its strategic position as a chokepoint for maritime commercial activity, particularly that of the European Union. This brings us to the current state of regional tensions in the Arctic and another significant development: Huaxia's further expansion of trade with the EU by increase shipping through the Arctic Ocean. To the Kremlin, they see this as a northern encirclement of their vast Arctic coastline, creating the fearmongering claim that Russia is "now nearly completely encircled", despite the collapse of the US weakening the EU economically and militarily. But for Russia, an economically-backwards nation that is barely on the same league as the entire EU, this is already perceived by the Kremlin as a "near peer threat".

Until the mid-2020s, foreign presence in the Arctic focused primarily on research—studies of climate change, local species, and even indigenous peoples. The unique Spitsbergen Treaty of 1920 made such work possible on the Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard. Following contested ownership claims with Denmark and Russia, the treaty made special provision for international activity on the islands. Commerce was permitted, but "warlike purposes" were explicitly excluded. Originally there were 14 signatories, including the Soviet Union, Germany, and China. Today there are 44, including India and South Korea, who—like Huaxia—define themselves as "near-Arctic states", a term contested only when Huaxia deploys it despite those two nations being further away from the Arctic than Huaxia. The argument for near-Arctic status holds that climate change at the North Pole affects global climate, especially for maritime powers subject to shifting ocean currents, justifying their claim to a policy voice in the region. Inevitably, this has produced contesting alignments in Arctic politics between Norway as sovereign over Svalbard and the treaty’s allowance of foreign presence, notably that of neighboring Russia. Legal interpretations of the treaty are intensely debated. Of the 44 signatories, the following maintain permanent research centers: Huaxia, France, Germany, India, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, South Korea, and the United Kingdom. Poland and Russia also conduct significant long-term research. But the critically important players happen to be Beijing and Moscow. With Russian imperialism strongly tied to Moscow's historical colonialism and regional irredentism, Moscow now plans to further expand their claims on the Arctic, viewing the region through the same lens of historical colonialism and strategic control. Russia's northern border is the longest Arctic littoral of any nation. Along it runs the Northern Sea Route, seasonally navigable to commercial traffic during ice-free months. It offers an alternative to traditional routes that might be blockaded. Huaxia has already expanded its nuclear-powered icebreaker fleet for several years now—a development that has unnerved the Kremlin following Washington's collapse.

It is on Svalbard that contestation has intensified. Russia maintains a historic claim to presence there, notably through an old mining center in Barentsburg, now largely abandoned. In its place, Russia has built a research center separate from the one in Ny-Ålesund used by most international researchers. There it collaborates with third-world pariah states, such as Eritrea and Myanmar, on meteorology, climate change, geophysics, and oceanography. Tension regularly erupts in legal disputes over Norway's sovereignty versus the treaty’s allowance of foreign presence on Svalbard. Norway operates its own Polar Institute, a satellite station (SvalSat), and a University Centre offering Arctic sciences. Huaxia's interest in the Arctic is primarily commercial, all the more so as continually receding ice will make the Arctic Ocean itself increasingly navigable, offering the shortest route to Europe: a Polar Silk Road. Huaxia also maintains the Huanghe research station on Svalbard, as well as a satellite ground station that collects data. Together these contribute to a Digital Silk Road based on Huaxia's own BeiDou Navigation Satellite System, the world's most technologically-advanced satellite-navigation system with precision and computation far-superior than any other SatNav systems in existence thanks to Huaxia's absolute dominance in critical technology. Huaxia's equal access has raised concern within Moscow about dual use.

Under the auspices of Huaxia, the Bering Strait, dividing Eurasia and the Americas, has become an extremely important sea-lane not just for Huaxia but for international shipping as well. With relations between Alaska and Russia being sour, Huaxia has been responsible for patrolling the Bering Strait and escorting all ships transiting across the strait while using its friendship with both Alaska and Russia to prevent the two from starting a conflict in the area. As a result, the National People's Armed Forces maintains a large presence within the Bering Strait, with Huaxian troops being stationed permanently in the SFRA. Huaxia's military presence in the Bering Strait frightens Moscow, with many of the Kremlin's most rabid and reactionary political figures calling for an aggressive build-up of Russian troops within the region. In anticipation of a future regional war in the Arctic, Huaxia has already conducted numerous Arctic exercises together with the military of the SFRA. Huaxian forces already coordinate maritime patrols, naval deployments, policing and reconnaissance missions, military exercises, and shared intelligence with the SFRA's military, with Huaxia having full-unrestricted military access to bases within the SFRA and permission to station military personnel, vehicles, and armaments on SFRA territory.

Huaxia Leads Successful Retaking of Mozambique's Metuge District From Jihadist Militants

Maputo (HGTN) — Huaxian troops, together with Rwandan and South African forces, successfully retake control of Metuge District in Mozambique's Cabo Delgado after two weeks of intense fighting against Ansar al-Sunna jihadists.

Due to high density of civilians living in the district, the offensive was done at a steady pace, piece-by-piece in order to avoid collateral damage and ensure that no jihadist remained. Rwandan and South African troops acted as both auxiliary and peace-enforcers, while also bearing most of the casualties with around 47 Rwandan troops and 19 South African troops having been killed during the entire operation.

Following the retaking of Metuge, Joaquim M'tumuke, Mozambique's current president, praised the contribution of Huaxian forces in his country's fight against militants in the Cabo Delgado Province. During a meeting with the Huaxian ambassador, M'tumuke stated that Huaxia "has played a major role in protecting civilians and stabilizing the northern Mozambican province", according to a statement by the Mozambican government. The exercise is a routine arrangement of the annual training of the National People's Rocket Force, the MND stated, adding that the Huaxian side has already notified relevant countries in advance. Dandong (Caijing) — The town of Kaishantun in Longjing witnessed an intense firefight between Huaxian authorities and North Korean border guards after the latter shot and killed a family attempting to cross the hyper-militarized Sino–Korean border, with the firefight ending with the North Koreans being successfully pushed back after they suffered heavy casualties.

Located in the county-level city of Longjing in Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, Jilin, the town of Kaishantun became the site of a brief but violent firefight not far from the Chaokai Bridge that connects Hasambong-ri in Onsong, North Hamgyong, North Korea, to Kaishantun on the Huaxian side of the border. Earlier in the morning, a North Korean family of three, consisting of a middle-aged mother, a son possibly in his late teens to early 20s, and a teenage daughter, attempted to swim across the Tumen River from Hasambong-ri to Kaishantun. However, while in the middle of the river, the family were brutally-shot by North Korean border guards, with some of their shots hitting the Huaxian side of the border. In response, troops from the 329th Border Defense Brigade of the National People's Army and the 3rd Mobile Detachment of the Jilin Provincial Corps of the People's Armed Police, along with officers from the People's Police of State Security Organs and armed park rangers from the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, fired back at the North Koreans, resulting in a cross-border firefight that lasted roughly fifteen minutes. During the firefight, a pair of North Korean M2010 6×6 APCs arrived at the scene on the Korean side of the border, resulting in NPA troops deploying Kestrel Defense Red-Wing 3A octocopter UCAVs to fire ATGMs at the North Korean border guards and APCs. The firefight finally ended when four PAP Tengden TB-001 UCAVs arrived and began firing long-range standoff anti-surface missiles at the North Korean border guards, forcing them to retreat and hide.

All in all, it is estimated that around 76 to 112 North Korean troops were killed, along with the North Korean family of three who were shot by them. Meanwhile on the other side, one PAP gendarme and one armed park ranger were injured from the fight. Meanwhile, the Chaokai Bridge has been closed and it is not known when it will be reopened again. In Kaishantun, residents evacuated to underground shelters for protection during the firefight and did not leave until roughly an hour after it was over. On the other side of the border, it is reported that the entirety of Hasambong-ri had been deserted after the villagers there were forced to leave by North Korean authorities. There is also reports that government officials in Hasambong-ri fled with their families during the firefight.

Following the cross-border firefight, the North Korean ambassador was quickly summoned by the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of Huaxia to give an explanation for the North Korean border guards' reckless actions and cold-blooded killing of an innocent family. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs published a statement online, condemning Pyongyang for allowing its own border guards to violently fire live rounds not only at innocent civilians but also towards the border as well, describing the actions as "violent and barbaric acts of cowardice unfit for the modern times". North Korean state media has yet to report on the firefight, and it is unlikely they will in the next several days or so due to how information is tightly-controlled in the hermit kingdom. There is rumors that North Korea might send a high-ranking official to Beijing to apologize for the actions of the North Korean border guards in Onsong due to Pyongyang's reliance on Huaxia for trade in order to keep their weakened and stagnant economy afloat.

Jiang Yuwen and Feng Wanqing were notorious arms traffickers who had once worked for the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government as accountants before being sent to prison on August 23, 2021 for participating in financial fraud. After being released on May 12 of 2033, the two men started trafficking arms straight to Hong Kong SAR, with their biggest domestic clients being crime gangs in Hong Kong while their biggest customers abroad were various warlords across Sub-Sahara Africa, Latin America, and Southern Europe. For the longest time, the two criminals were able to avoid capture by living in the jungles of Myanmar's Kachin State under the protection of the Kachin Independence Army, one of their most loyal customers. The two men rarely entered back into Huaxia, but when they did it was done under false identities. For several years, the Ministry of State Security simply placed the two men under covert surveillance, taking their time to build up a plan to simply eliminate the two since they considered Jiang and Feng to be terrorists. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public of Security instead preferred to catch the two fugitives quickly, resulting in both ministries clashing when it came to dealing with the two. Over the years, the MPS attempted to capture Jiang and Feng each time they entered Huaxia under false identities, however the two men were always meticulous about leaving no traces behind. The MSS, on the other hand, utilized more-unconventional methods for tracking Jiang and Feng, regardless if they were in Huaxia or not. Trump, Flower began blaming "the souless insectoid chicoms" for "destroying the greatest capitalist experiment in the world" and "solidifying cultural-marxism for the new world order".
