Before 1927, Jaliserra was divided into two sides: Jerano (the west) and Kaliserra (the east). Because they were rivals, at least three years of service in the army was compulsory. The aftermath of the Great Jero-Kaliserran resulted in Jerano and Kaliserra uniting to become one nation, Jaliserra. In my nation's universe (an AU), the Philippines is divided into north and south: Luzonia and Jaliserra. These two nations used to be rivals until 1986, which was why conscription took place until then. Currently, as they are allies, military service is no longer compulsory, but still encouraged.

A Tang Army heavy-cavalry commander, clad in heavy full-body mountain-pattern armor, and a scholarly-bureaucrat from the Hedong Circuit along with his assistant, inspecting troops along the Great Wall in 629 CE, during the Tang dynasty's successful war against the Eastern Turkic Khaganate. During the ancient and medieval period, Chinese heavy cavalry and heavy infantry were the most heavily armored of their kind in the world, thanks to Ancient China's innovation in advanced ancient steel-making dating all the way back to the Warring States period (475 – 221 BCE) and involving advanced pre-modern metallurgy techniques such as water-powered hammering, blast furnaces, multi-layered compound steel techniques, quench hardening, differential edge-tempering, and common usage of crucible steel.

While tanks and other armed vehicles in Huaxia are associated with cavalry just like with foreign militaries, one peculiarity however is that fighter pilots in Huaxia are also associated with cavalry too. Going back in time, traditional Chinese military thinking of ancient times divided soldiers into light infantry (such as archers, crossbowmen, scouts, skirmishers, and raiders), medium infantry (such as polearm troops, swordsmen, archers, and crossbowmen), heavy infantry (such as polearm shock troops, vanguard swordsmen, shock archers, vanguard crossbowmen, anti-cavalry shock troops, and elite guardsmen), light cavalry (such as mounted scouts, mounted skirmishers, mounted archers, mounted crossbowmen, and mounted raiders), medium cavalry (such as mounted polearm troops, mounted swordsmen, mounted archers, and mounted crossbowmen), and heavy cavalry (such as mounted polearm shock troops, mounted vanguard swordsmen, mounted shock archers, mounted vanguard crossbowmen, dense-formation direct-action shock troops, and elite mounted guardsmen). With traditional Chinese military thinking, cavalry warriors played an important role in the battlefield. While medium and heavy infantrymen would advance towards the battlefield in large shielded formations, generally armed with polearms, dao/jian swords, and crossbows, medium and heavy cavalrymen on the other hand acted as highly-mobile assault soldiers that would charge directly into the enemy formation's position while light cavalrymen armed with advanced trigger-assembly crossbows and recurved composite bows would pick off any enemy soldier from a standoff distance while moving at high-speed. As a result, the battlefields of ancient and medieval China have been widely-renowned for having a massive emphasis not only on heavy armor and powerful weaponry but also on high mobility, constant maneuvers and "first sight, first shot, first kill" as well. The Chinese have been fighting each other for several millennia, and thus this would permanently influence the way modern Huaxian military planners view military warfare against foreign enemies.

For Huaxian tankers, they are seen as modern-day heavy cavalrymen, while Huaxian fighter pilots are seen as flying cavalrymen. For Huaxian military theorists, tanks are just modern replacements of a heavy cavalry horse while a fighter aircraft is akin to a bird-of-prey. As a result, tanks form the centerpiece of armored shock offensives while fighter jets are the focal point of total air-dominance combat. Meanwhile, infantry fighting vehicles would be the modern equivalent to medium cavalry horses while armored personnel carriers would be the modern equivelant to light cavalry horses.

In terms of armored vehicles, the NPA has a diverse line-up of various armored vehicles, with main battle tanks being the main centerpiece. The Huaxians operate the most advanced tanks on earth as well as the largest fleet of armored vehicles in total, with Huaxian 4th gen. main battle tanks in particular renowned for being unmatched on the modern battlefield. Strong emphasis is placed on highly-advanced heavy armor for increased protection, bleeding-edge sensors and fire-control systems, highly-sophisticated powertrains with highly-powerful powerplants and impressive transmissions, and the utilization of powerful tank guns that use advanced-manufactured armor-piercing fin-stabilized discarding sabot penetrator-rounds and supersonic/hypersonic beyond-line-of-sight gun-launched missile rounds for devastating firepower and are fed via autoloader for reduced workload. With their superior armor, firepower, mobility, and electronics, as well as their powerful tank guns that utilize advanced munitions, these tanks are fully-capable of eliminating foreign tank designs with little-to-no difficulty, especially without combined-arms fire-support. Huaxian tankers strongly-value high-performance for total dominance over foreign tank designs, using hyper-advanced technology for unrivalled armor protection and unmatched firepower.

A pair of ZTZ-108A 4th gen. main battle tanks from the National People's Army conducting a live-fire drill at Hangtian Combined Tactics Training Base in Jinta County, Jiuquan, Gansu Province, on September 21, 2037. The ZTZ-108A weighs at 69.4-tonne, is hydrogen fuel-cell electric, and uses a 144mm electrothermal-chemical smoothbore gun.

Unlike primitive conscript-based militaries that rely heavily on troop numbers and tank waves to compensate for weak airpower (eg. Korean People's Army), the National People's Armed Forces strongly stresses the absolute importance of joint-service combined-arms combat and maneuvers as per People's War Using Maximum Combined-Arms Full-Spectrum Dominance. Thus, rather than deploying waves of armored vehicles with limited airpower that plays only a supportive role, NPAF instead prefers a forward-focused expeditionary-oriented offensive-based method of deploying airpower to achieve air dominance and cripple enemy troops on the ground while armored forces engage in rapid manuvers and breakthrough assaults on enemy positions, allowing for flexible overwhelming dominance against all enemy types ranging from more-conventional militaries to unconventional militant insurgent groups. Swarms of state-of-the-art aerial and ground drones would provide combined-arms support and assist with saturating enemy forces with devastating firepower.

With both the National People's Air Force and the National People's Navy Air Force, they operate a wide range of advanced combat aircraft, the main stars being the fighter jets themselves. The NPAF and NPN Air Force both operate the most advanced fighter jets in the world as well as the largest fleet of combat aircraft in total. The Huaxians currently operate a wide array of various highly-sophisticated fighter jet designs, with the fighter fleets of both NPAF and NPNAF consisting entirely of gen. 6, gen. 5.5, gen. 5, and gen. 4.5 fighter jets, all designed for maximum full-spectrum total air-dominance over friendly and hostile skies. The most important component of a Huaxian fighter jet would be the avionices. Thanks to Huaxia's absolute dominance in most fields of critical technology, such as radars including GaN-on-Si AESA radars, GaN-on-SiC AESA radars, GaN-on-Diamond AESA radars, GaN-on-Diamond & Aluminum Nitride AESA radars, Ga2O3 (Gallium(III) oxide) AESA radars, Ga2O3-on-Diamond AESA radars, and multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radars, as well as electro-optics, Huaxian fighter jets are widely-renowned for unmatched sensor capabilities, providing first-shot first-kill for Huaxian fighter pilots. The effectiveness of both Huaxian fighter pilots and fighter jets is so high that there are actual debates regarding maximizing the effectiveness of Huaxian fighter pilots. The controversial close-knit group known as the "Dragon Gods", consisting of military officers from the NPAF and NPNAF, along with civilian defense analysts and military researchers, use past and present combat experiences of various Huaxian fighter pilots for their arguments in favor of retiring all lighter fighters in exchange for more longer-range heavier fighter jets backed by swarms of unmanned air dominance fighter (UADF) drones, although not everyone shares their radical sentiments. Regardless, Huaxian fighter jets are unsurpassed, their full-effective capabilities allowing them to fully-dominate over friendly- and enemy-skies with little-to-no difficulty whatsoever. To go along with Huaxia's powerful fighter jets are bleeding-edge within-visual-range and beyond-visual-range air-to-air missiles that surpass all foreign peers. Not only do these AAMs have superior flight performances over their foreign counterparts but they also feature highly-sophisticated powerful electronic sensors that are unrivalled, thus allowing Huaxian AAMs to remain highly-resistant to even the most advanced radar and infrared countermeasures fielded by foreign militaries.

Jiang Hongqiu, the incumbent Chairman of the Central Military Commission, is estimated to have a net worth of somewhere around a million Huaxian Yuan. However, there are rumors and allegations from moderates that Jiang has investments within Huaxia's various hyper-militarized private military corporations (referred to as private security companies), AI companies, and pharmaceutical companies, and that his actual net worth is somewhere around 36.3 to 42.7 billion Huaxian Yuan, although Jiang strongly denies the allegations, describing them as "ridiculous farce created from the deranged minds of conspiracy theorists and novel writers who have no attachment to material conditions of reality". That being said, Huaxian private security companies are known for strongly supporting Jiang and the political-hardline while being very critical towards political-moderates.

There are rumors that Jiang Hongqiu has been a major investor to Leihou Shengli Security ever since the company started on December 11, 2038 due to Yu having served with Jiang when she was still a young commissioned-officer in the National People's Army. When Yu Shiya had been medically discharged from the military in June of 2037, after being critically-injured from a grenade blast while fighting in the Sahel, Jiang helped Yu receive cybernetic surgery free-of-cost. Despite being a very young PMC in the country, Leihou Shengli Security has already grown to be one of the largest and most powerful PMCs in Huaxia (and thus the world) by the start of 2040, with rumors claiming that Jiang played a massive role in helping propel the PMC into a powerhouse it is today.

A plain-clothed militiawomen from the National Militia, belonging to a local stability-maintenance militia battalion, one-hand aiming her QBZ-192 5.8×42mm carbine during an urban response drill in Beibei District, Chongqing.

Being the successor polity to the People's Republic of China, Huaxia has some of the strictest gun control measures in the world, civilian ownership of guns is largely restricted to authorized, non-individual entities, including sporting organizations, authorized hunting reserves, and wildlife protection, management and research organizations, however the chief exception to the general ban on individual firearm ownership is for the purpose of hunting. If citizens want to easily handle firearms without joining the military or law enforcement they can always join either the National Militia or the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps. Anyone illegally-carrying a firearm, regardless if it is in working condition or not, can be automatically-seen as a terrorist or insurgent, thus risking themselves to getting shot by authorities.

That being said, military service is extremely popular in the country. Since Huaxia is the successor polity to the People's Republic of China, the nation inherited the Military Service Law, resulting in a hybrid system of conscripts and volunteers. Mandatory military service has never been enacted thanks to a massive population and an already-gigantic pool of volunteers ready to enlist at anytime. By law, male citizens have to register when they reach 18 years old. The 1998 amendment to the Military Service Law standardized the active duty period for conscripts to two years. Military service is quite popular in Huaxia. Technically, military service with the National People's Armed Forces is obligatory for all Huaxian male citizens. However, in practice, it is entirely voluntary due to the popularity of military service and the large number of individuals who volunteer to join annually. Due to the extreme popularity of military service, it is difficult to join the NPAF. Each year, an average of around 44 - 58 million people would sign up to join the NPAF, but only around a few million would successfully join.

For the several millions of people who failed to join the military, many will end up joining the National Militia while others will wait next year to try again and hopefully be able to finally join the NPAF.

All Huaxian firearms utilize JBDAP-2027 Standard Tactical Accessory Rail for rail mounts. Consisting of guide rails with multiple transverse slots and pronounced angular sections, as well as negative-space hollow-slot mounting points for direct attachment, the JBDAP-2027 can be either fixed into a firearm or come in the form of detachable bracket mounts.

The JBDAP-2027A is a guide rail featuring bar-like straight brackets with regularly spaced slots. Made of strips of metal or polymer and securely-fastened onto a firearm's receiver, handguard, or fore-end stock to allow variable-position attachments, multiple rail slots give the advantage of moveable positions for adjusting the optimal placement of each accessory for a user's preferences, along with the ability to switch different items at different placements. It consists of a precision-crafted strip undercut to form a flattened T-shaped cross-section provided with crosswise slots at intervals interspersed with flats that allow firearm accessories to be slid into place from the end of the rail then locked in place, with the accessory being slid into the slots between raised flats and then moved a short distance back or forth, or clamped to the rail with bolts, thumbscrews or levers. The locking slot width is 5.23 millimeters while the spacing of slot centers is 10.01 millimeters and the slot depth is 3.00 millimeters. Firearm accessories can be mounted by sliding into place, improving the usability of the weapon and being accessorized quickly and efficiently without requiring the operator to field-strip the weapon. The JBDAP-2027A can also utilize powered brackets that provide electrical power to rail-mounted accessories using internal high-density electric battery packs while the top surface is hollowed out by three lines of metal contacts containing transmitter coils that use electromagnetic induction to transfer power to the accessories wirelessly by creating an invisible magnetic field that generates an electrical current inside the receiver coil of a firearm accessory.
Image

The JBDAP-2027B is a mounting point featuring negative-space hollow-slots. Utilizing a T-slot nut capable of only 90-degree rotation and reinforced by thread-locking fluid, making it suited for applications on free-floating handguards, it was designed to work with both metal and polymer parts. The slots provide a length interval of 20.00 millimeters while firearm accessories can be mounted either within a slot or bridging between slots, making it possible to adjust the position of accessories in smaller intervals than the length of the slot. The slots on a JBDAP-2027B handguard are 32.00 millimeters long and 7.00 millimeters wide, and spaced 8.00 millimeters from each other. The radius of the corners is 2.38 millimeters. The quarter-turn T-slot nuts have different torque specifications depending on the handguard material, with 3.8 newton-meters being used for attaching metal accessories to metal handguards, 1.6 newton-meters for attaching polymer or metal accessories to polymer handguards, and 1.5 newton-meters for attaching polymer accessories to metal handguards. JBDAP-2027B uses JBDAP-2027B1 and JBDAP-2027B2 attachment screws, which respectively have major thread diameters of 4.00 millimeters and 5.00 millimeters. The tool required for mounting, in addition to the thread size, also depends on the screw head type, with 4.00 millimeter hex keys being standard. JBDAP-2027B uses socket-head cap screws, flat-head counter-sunk cap screws, and button-head cap screws.

The JBDAP-2027C is a mounting point featuring negative-space hollow-slots with a keyhole profile. Suitable for applications on free-floating handguards, it consists of a compact slot and bi-directional T-lugs. The slot is distinctive with a larger-diameter insertion through-hole combined with a narrow locking-placement window, and is chamfered on the backside. The insertion through-hole has a diameter of 18.00 millimeters while the locking-placement window has a width of 12.00 millimeters. Hole spacing is 20.00 millimeters while screw spacing is 40.00 millimeters. The bi-directional T-lugs are fully-ambidextrous and are easily locked into place by simply inserting it into the insertion through-hole and sliding forward into the locking-placement window, which is then secured by using a star-shaped hexalobular-internal screw drive and tightened to a torque rating of 4.8 newton-meters. The JBDAP-2027C uses mounting studs with an 18.00-millimeter base tapering down to a 12.00-millimeter conical locking interface with 60-degree angled sides. For screws, the JBDAP-2027C utilizes pan-head six-lobe screws, countersunk six-lobe screws, and raised countersunk six-lobe screws.

Attachments designed for MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail and STANAG 4694 NATO accessory rail are fully compatible with JBDAP-2027A, however, attachments for M-LOK are NOT compatible with JBDAP-2027B while attachments for KeyMod are NOT compatible with JBDAP-2027C. Various Huaxian privately-owned arms manufacturers also create accessory kits for export that utilize furniture featuring JBDAP-2027 STAR for use on foreign weapons. For example, in May and June of 2035, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces bought tens of thousands of AK-Centurion Block II accessory kits from Shenzhen Defender Industrial Design Co., Ltd., consisting of a reinforced dust cover with built-in JBDAP-2027A guide rail, a new side-folding retractable stock with better ergonomics, and a drop-in handguard featuring JBDAP-2027A guide rail and JBDAP-2027B negative-space hollow-slots, in order to upgrade their old AK-74M rifles after finding multiple defects on the AK-74M Obves Universal Upgrade Kit from Russia's Kalashnikov Concern such as zero-retention from the dust cover during harsh use in the battlefield, the polymer handguard suffering from excessive backlash, looseness and cracking, the pistol grip becoming partially-wobbly, and overall poor workmanship.

A comparison between a Huaxian 12.68×36mmRB magnum cartridge and a 9×19mm Parabellum handgun cartridge.

Since the mid-2020s, Huaxia produces and utilizes a wide variety of different cartridges for firearms and crew-served weapons, such as the 6.5×57mm full-power rifle cartridge (introduced in 2027; primary standard full-power rifle cartridge for assault rifles), 6.48×49mm intermediate rifle cartridge (introduced in 2035; primary standard intermediate rifle cartridge), 10.2×33mm handgun cartridge (introduced in 2036; primary standard handgun cartridge), 12.72×40mmRB magnum cartridge (introduced in 2037; primary standard magnum cartridge); 6.12×35mmRB hybrid handgun-rifle cartridge (introduced in 2035; primary standard hybrid handgun-rifle cartridge), and the 15.56×120mm heavy machine gun cartridge (introduced in 2036; primary standard heavy machine gun cartridge for heavy machine guns).

Huaxia's highly-powerful and exotic indigenous cartridges created since the mid-2020s are widely-renowned for their unmatched ballistic performance and firepower when compared to foreign cartridges of similar size. As a result, the indigenous high-performance cartridges are referred to as maximum-performance cartridges while other cartridges are referred to as minimum-performance cartridges. Maximum-performance cartridges use high ignition temperature propellant and are extremely-pressured by being loaded to produce an immensely-high internal pressure when fired compared to foreign cartridges of the same caliber, resulting in exceedingly-high muzzle velocity, muzzle energy, projectile penetration, and stopping power, as well as far-greater accuracy and controllability, longer range, flatter trajectory, better energy-retention, and significantly-increased lethality.
Image
Comparison between a Huaxian 6.22×49mm intermediate rifle cartridge and a 5.56×45mm NATO intermediate rifle cartridge, showcasing the former's very-long neck along with its exceedingly-long and immensely-sleak aerodynamic bullet. Despite being only an intermediate rifle cartridge, the 6.22×49mm far-outmatches the heavier and chunkier 7.62×51mm NATO full-power rifle cartridge by having a far-greater velocity, longer range, flatter trajectory, superior energy-retention, better crosswind resistance, and significantly-less felt recoil, along with an immensely-higher chamber pressure and the ability to easily-defeat NIJ Level IV body armor.

In order to avoid the risk of unsafe cartridge-case failure or firearm rupture, as well as safely-handle extreme chamber pressures, maximum-performance cartridges use high-strength composite cases consisting of a reinforced cartridge-base, made of high-tensile steel alloy with a brass outer-skin, coupled to a brass case-body via a high-strength fiber-reinforced polymer cylindrical-spacer. The cartridge-base safely contains the massive bolt-face pressure while the case-body offers tight chamber-seal. For maximum-performance rifle cartridges, the bullets are highly-sleek and exceedingly-streamlined with very-low drag, a very-long and highly-slender body, a sharply-tapered curved pointed-nose, a highly-tapered base, exceptionally-fast twist rate, and extremely-high ballistic-coefficient performance.

For firearms that utilize electrically-primed ammunition, such as the Type 28 Modular Automatic Rifle family (which utilizes the Recoil-Projection Pulse-Shifted Counter-Mass Balance system), the maximum-performance cartridges used for electronic-firing are electrically-fired. A rapidly-brief electrical current from the firearm ignites the propellant, quickly firing a projectile. Each electric current serves to detonate the primer, after which the provided action delivers the thermal impulse necessary to instantly ignite the propellant, which then deflagrates, producing pressure without delay.

Despite being heavily armed and maintaining a nuclear shield, the Republic’s Strategic Support Command (Kumand ng Istratehikong Suporta) spends a massive portion of its regular operations on non-military logistics. Because the Republic experiences severe rainfalls every year, the command's high-tech satellite tracking and cyber-networks are routinely used to coordinate real-time disaster response and emergency relief across the Republic, working hand-in-hand with local police to clear roads and deploy aid before storms even make landfall

Because Huaxia's numerous ethnic-minorities such as the Nuosu, the Zhuang, the Uyghur, the Chaoxianzu, the Hlai, and the Tajikezu are widely-renowned for being more patriotic than the ethnic-Han, a high percentage of personnel serving in the National People's Armed Forces, People's Armed Police, National Militia, and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, as well as the People's Police, are ethnic-minorities. Not only that, around 47.34% of the members of the current 23rd Central Committee of the National Front of Huaxia belong to Huaxia's various ethnic-minority groups. A lot of people in Huaxia joke about how if the ethnic-Hans were to "step out of line" the ethnic-minorities would simply "slap them back into shape". Han-chauvinist reactionaries have also characterized the nation as being under a "conquest dynasty", a concept strongly discouraged and rejected by the NFH.
