Recent history

The Starsian National Football Team is The 14 Stars's national squad in association soccer competitions for national associations across the entire multiverse world of soccer.
There have been alot of changes since their last appearance in the World Cup 91 qualifiers, the league was shortly abolished because it had imploded from financial issues.
With new teams and management the national team has gotten back on its feet and is currently led by Julian Saturn who achieved a series of good results first under Chromatik Rose Gabin and now took over the team making room for a new generation of players to place their mark on the team.

With years of abscence football has been losing popularity to the point it became dangerous, but now everything is back on track new players have been chosen and new names appear.
Former leading players have assumed leadership roles and are currently working hard to getting Starsian football back to its old form fierce and enjoyable as it always used to be.
With all those new faces the team lacks alot of experience and for many players their international experience is zero which will for the coming years put great pressure on those who have that experience like Kira Blade, Federico Zaratti, Christian Fourseasons and Joy Sol among others.

Now with world cup 97 on the doorstep many young players will make their debut on the international stage, it is hoped that our country will be able to keep up with the experienced nations.

Tactical Set-Up

The Starsian side is a very skilled team with a very high team chemistry and morale combining it with their quick paced game they are an opponent for all teams to watch out for due to their offensive style.
They play in a 4-3-3 which through the match can be changed to various other formations suiting the game that they play however they are an offensive team loving to have possesion of the ball.
It is know the Starsian team loves game control, taking the initiative and play their best, they are more willing to play a great game of soccer rather then simply getting a good result.

Grace Edwards
One of the many players of the new generation is Grace Edwards a defender but in modern style who can both join the attack and defend very well with her strong endurance.
Edwards started as a youngster in the youth teams and worked her way up to the first team both in the league and internationally only being held back by Sarah Nolan for many years being the preferred choice.
However these days Grace Edwards is a strong value in the starting line-up and shes getting tough competition from Eva Weber in this position making her able to keep playing her best games to keep her spot.

Federico Zaratti
One of the very few players on the defense with long years of experience, Federico is the son of Gianna Zaratti who also played for our team and was a very good midfielder back in the old days.
Sadly Federico has seen the rise and fall of Starsian football and had to deal with an inexperienced team that has quality but not the right mentality and had to work its way up the ranks and the motivational ladder again.
Federico is a very skillled defender and most likely the best one currently around, his experience is the core of the defense and he is also the team's vice captain leading the defense and sharing his experience with younger defenders.

Kai Schulz
Schulz is a striker with ups and downs, sometimes he plays like a genius and sometimes it just doesnt want to fall into place, Schulz could keep up with this for years but not anymore.
He is no longer the young promised talent he now is the seasoned striker, the first choice and has to deliver and if he doesnt he risks losing his spot to younger better strikers who are up and coming.
Schulz can be really good he has shown that time and time again but he has failed to reward himself so many times, he is a good player and a striker who can really shoot from any side but lacks consistency.
Now with a younger striker on the horizon who really worked hard in the U18 tournament he has to prove hes the best.

Kira Blade
Kira is a player that earns her spot here, there is no name on the team that can replace her among notable players.
Kira has the skill, the name, the experience and most importantly Kira has a very kind personality which she uses to elevate any team shes in to heights they never imagined to be possible.
In an earlier interview Kira has said she is planning on many more years and to also lead this new generation of players after her into the right way until they are able to take over.
Marcus Blade is her father and the president of the Starsian Football Association, people who believe shes famous and a good player because of her dad are very wrong.
Kira has earned her stripes in the business and standing at 35 years many people fear this might be her last chance to really qualify for the world cup as a player, Kira denies this but the insane amount of talent on her position now showing up in the form of Sarah Huber and Kimora Frazier shows that Kira's career is in its final phase.

All Starsian home matches will be played in the Starset stadium created for the national team only with the purpose on training, playing games and living at the complex during the international break.

The Godlands is not just a nation, it is a project. A nation without any landmass whose population consists of only one person. From its creator, Abraham, the goal was to push the boundaries of the sporting world and forge a different kind of team. No more than five people, including himself, would represent his nation. In order to make his vision a reality, Abraham needed to find the most elite squad of athletes from all across the multiverse. He scoured through countless regions and nations and tested legions of sapient beings to find his four best candidates. After a lot of negotiation and even more paperwork, Abraham managed to assemble his squad and registered them as the official members of the Godlands’ football team.

A problem! You need at least seven members to make a team for the World Cup, the intended stage for Abraham to debut his team. In order to resolve this problem, he enlisted the help of a few of his lifelong friends. So, meet Thing One and Thing Two. Thing One is a mannequin that sits in the midfield and Thing Two is a bucket that stays near the goal. Since the Laws of the Game state that a match will not start unless each team has at least seven players, and since the definition of a “player” is very flimsy, it is arguably valid to field the Things as members of the team. With that technicality out of the way, let’s meet the roster.

The Roster

No last name was given for the members of the team. Instead, each one was given a name alongside the name of a god. In a sense, they make up the soul of these gods. Thing One and Thing Two were not given gods however (who could possibly know why).

Abraham a.k.a "Ra" (he/him) - GK

The job of organizing this project was a thankless one. It had been in the works since World Cup 96, and it was a nightmare of both registering and verifying The Godlands as an independent state (which is technically called “The Godlands I” because some other nation was called “The Godlands” in recent history). Nevertheless, Abraham obviously had a motive to do this. Abraham is really strong. Years ago, he was an untouchable machine in physicality, from weightlifting to boxing and even as far as jumping. He was so good that he was unchallenged in his home country at many of his sports endeavors. Being dedicated to finding a challenge, he knew that bringing his skills to the world stage wasn’t enough. This (arguably masochistic) man wanted to see what he could do with a team merely half the size. The Godlands was the end result.

Iris a.k.a "Gaia" (she/her) - LB

Iris had lived in the slums of ~~~ all her life. Abraham had only noticed her from the corner of his eye, dashing around like a shadow. When he turned to look at her, he saw a small and nimble girl, no taller than five feet. Matter of fact, nimble is a dramatic understatement, this girl was blisteringly fast and agile. Dashing around in the back alleys of ~~~, Abraham called out to her. To make a long story short, Abraham offered her a position on the team and she accepted it, being given the title of Gaia. Arguably it's because she could cover ground like no one else, but really it was just because Iris thought the name was pretty.

Acorn a.k.a "Odin" (he/him) - RB

By the time Abraham had come across Acorn, he was already looking for the last member of his team. His head was pounding, he was driving to a restaurant to get dinner with the other members, but he noticed a runner on the side of the road. This wasn’t just any normal runner nor was this any normal road. This was a backroad miles from town and this guy had blood dripping down his face. Despite this, he actually seemed to be running quite quickly. Abraham stopped on the side of the road to briefly run with this guy and ask him about the story behind everything going on. As it turned out, this guy had already been running for 80 kilometers and was planning to continue on for another 40. Abraham, having been tired from the relentless searching, blurted out that he wanted Acorn on the team. Acorn hesitantly agreed to see the team and was eventually convinced to join them.

Juno a.k.a "Leviathan" (she/her) - CM

Abraham didn’t actually find Juno. She was actually quite a prominent youth figure from ~~~, scoring perfect results in her academic years and being a high-tier prospect in both MMA and the triathlon. Needless to say she had a lot of the qualities Abraham needed, but it was actually Juno who approaced Abraham first. From one of the many campaigns to test people, his “Olympic Training Grounds,” Juno had decided to show up. Not only did she score perfectly in the strength test, she also managed to break a record in the vertical jump test. From that, Abraham confronted Juno and asked her to do an extra test: IQ and APM (actions per minute). She completely dominated both of those tests, and Abraham offered her a once-in-a-lifetime spot to join a World Cup Qualifier team. Hesitant but enthusiastic, Juno accepted the offer, and the Leviathan was born.

Anon a.k.a "Indra" (no preferred pronouns) - ST

Anon was the first person Abraham approached about joining the team, and for good reason. Anon was smart, they had accuracy, and perhaps most importantly of all, Abraham knew Anon personally. Abraham had seen what Anon was capable of and personally approached them about being on this World Cup team. The thing is, Anon is the least “athletic freak” of the team, but what they don’t have in explosive power and speed, they more than make up for with composure, game IQ, finishing skills, and mental toughness. Anon might not be the best striker in the world, but they will not let the opportunity slip by so easily. The only question is whether they will be able to stay composed with only four teammates behind them.

The Stadium

Thanks to the great income from the BoF (and some loans that may be difficult to pay off), Abraham was able to host the Ascended Stadium in a nice spot in Koroa City. Boasting a seating capacity of 55000, this stadium may not be as big as others in this World Cup, but this one's a beaut.

The Kit

Thanks to the Edmonstik company Xetric, Abraham was able to secure a kit for the team. The kit prominently features images of the five gods represented by the team as well as crossing colours according to the gods' colour themes.

HISTORY

Chromatika first entered the World Cup in Cycle 73, going a modest 3-2-7. They made the Cup of Harmony in Cycle 74, and qualified for the first time in Cycle 75, losing in the Round of Sixteen. Chromatika would have their most successful campaign in World Cup 76, making it to the 3rd place Playoff before finishing in fourth place, despite the domestic upheaval in the country. Their first Manager, Franscesca Larriet-Cortes, was martyred at the end of World Cup 75; the political stresses of the job made it so that Lisa Amos, the team's Manager after Franscesca, resigned after World Cup 76.

The team would enjoy continued success from World Cup 77 through World Cup 81, as Silian Parker helped the squad qualify for the World Cup every time, and the team even made it to the Round of Sixteen or beyond three of those times. Even when Chromatika didn't enter World Cup 82, their return to the World Cup in 83 was a success, though both World Cup 83 and 84 saw the Anomalies stymied at the Proper Group Stage - 84 being under new management in Nepharan Konrad Evans.

World Cup 85 was a disaster - the team didn't qualify and didn't even make a deep run in the Cup of Harmony, leading to the sacking of Evans and the appointment of Richard Valens of Krytenia and Tim Landers of Delaclava. The team would qualify in World Cup 86, and 87, host the World Cup in 88, and return to the Proper in 89. However, Chromatika was not making the deep runs that the nation wanted/needed, so they said goodbye to Valens and Landers and looked inward.

Sandra Sybill and Rachel Hellion, key figures during Chromatika's runs in the early days, stepped in. A loss to Nyowani Kitara meant that they were eliminated, but the team turned around and won the 82nd Cup of Harmony. The following cycle, they made it to the Playoffs, where a loss in penalties to Zeta Reka and Hügeltaldom sealed the fate of Sybil and Hellion. Lisa Amos stepped in to lead the team to a respectable Quarterfinal finish in the resulting Cup of Harmony, and Chromatika was left wondering just how far they were away from the glory days.

Lev Repin came in, promising glory - and the Anomalies grabbed it off the cuff, winning their Group to qualify ahead of Ko-oren. Put into a group with Turori, Eura, and Cassadaigua, the Anomalies lost to Turori 3-0 before recovering to win narrowly over Eura and Cassadaigua. They'd fall 1-2 to perennial powerhouses Græntfjall, but they had finally broken back through.

Then, with the World Cup returning to Chromatika, the Anomalies went on the run of a lifetime, making their way to the World Cup Final, beating Zwangzug in the process. They eventually lost the final 3-4 to Banija, but had put themselves back as the #4 team in the world and capable of contending at the biggest stage.

World Cup 94 saw the Anomalies make the Round of Sixteen before losing to Banija once again; then, they cohosted World Cup 95 with Sylestone, only to go 0-2-1 in the Group Stage and not make the Round of Sixteen. World Cup 96 saw a dominant qualifying cycle - only losing once on the final matchday to Abanhfleft - culminate with another Group Stage exit at the hands of Juvencus.

Repin and the Chromatik Football Federation decided to part ways. They then brought in

The new Manager of Chromatika. A relatively new find, Khabibullina is a motivator and a technician who likes to try to get the most out of her charges. The expectations being placed on her shoulders are enormous - the supposed Golden Generation of Chromatika is getting older - but with a communicator at the helm, perhaps this is exactly what they needed. The CAFA was a proving ground that was used to get an idea on the new generation of talent, and the time to show up is now.

Once a heartthrob, Zoe Benne is married to former Chromatik superstar and now White Mountain club manager Erika Morningstar. Zoe has been a constant for thirteen cycles now, and has had to treat everything from sprained ankles to serious injuries after the bus sabotage last cycle. She remains a great asset.

The presence of Arling as the Social Media Coordinator has become as important as ever. She is the primary communications officer for all things regarding the Senior Squad, and one of the confidants of Repin. All questions go through her, and she takes away any and all distractions.

Juxon Fillar remains the team's #1 keeper. Very good at set pieces and one-on-one scenarios, he's become better in transition and also become a leader in the locker room, being Captain for a while now. Having reached the World Cup Final, he holds the second half collapse as one of the lowest points of his career - but if it wasn't for him, they would've never gotten there. He has won a Champions' League Title, and now been to a World Cup Final; the only thing that remains is to win one. With the birth of his firstborn, he's even more motivated than ever - and although he has entered the twilight years of him starting as the team's best keeper, he's still one of the best at the position in the world.

Do Seung-Min has very good peripheral vision. When normally, keepers need to turn their heads to keep track of the ball, Do's excellent vision means that he is apt at faking out scorers by making them unaware of the fact that he was aware. His emergence at 1923 Esca has helped the team return to contention in Mytanija, and success at the international stage. Ahead of him by the slimmest of margins is one Hailee Sourtois, the heir-apparent in most circles of Juxon Fillar. With tremendous aerial reach, command of area, and jumping reach, Sourtois is a master of the aerial game. Possessing strong metal faculties with communication and decision-making, the Goalkeeper also has decent work rate, vision, and teamwork, along with positioning. Not the most natural of athletes, her quickness, aggression, and bravery could use some work, but decent anticipation, agility, and balance, along with high stamina make her one of the best goalkeeping prospects of her age group. Jill Swanson is a model of composure even at her young age, and is being continually tested at the Red League level; chasing her is one Rafaela Pilzer, a physical demon who will need the time she has behind this roster of experienced personnel to improve her mental game.

Juxon Fillar is the key - and though Sourtois has earned the #2 spot, the battle is far from over.

Khabibullina has decided to keep the system of three in the back. Ami Coulibaly has established herself as the starter at Right Centre, the Banijan/Chromatik dual-national cementing herself after the last few tournaments. Known for her friendship with the Tumbran Golden Duo of Trudy Harrison and Stephen Kerr at Chromatik, Coulibaly uses dogged determination and endless motor to frustrate her foes; she is also quite good on her feet and in passing the ball up the pitch. Eileen Jackson-Jones has earned the right to be the first-choice center back, an intense, put-together defender who can handle almost anyone that gets into her zone. She has stamina to go the whole game. Rounding out the starting trio is Cylie Nodis - the most offensive minded center back in Chromatik history - especially since her defensive game has improved with age. With a nose for the ball on every set piece, some deep crosses and the ability to thread the needle using either foot, it's been stated that she should change to a Defensive Midfielder at times. She's set in her ways, though, and insists she should play at fullback. (Un)fortunately, she's proficient enough that nobody can really force her to do anything otherwise, and she's improved enough to be the starter now.

Paisley Paterson continues at the second line. Born to a Chromatik mother and a Licentian father, Paterson grew up in Chromia, and only started football in her late teens. With size, pace, and most of all, a mentality of steel, Paterson has shown that she can be an enforcer on the pitch, not shying away from contact without drawing too many fouls. Her aerial game is still a cause for concern, but the dogged determination with which she pursues every play has made her an instant favorite no matter which coaching staff she works with. Klavida Régine falls back to the second line, using her veteran presence. Her ability to overcome her lack of height with the busiest feet makes her a mainstay on this squad. Almost like a hound dog at times with how doggedly she pursues anyone that dare cross her, she has been noted to be annoying by her opponents time and time again. Her feet absolutely never stop moving during the game, and that endless pace results in many a tired opponent. To her left remains one Ipati Aimée, who returns to the second line. A traditional type defender who's quite good at clearing away headers, playing man-to-man, and possessing a robust skillset, Aimée is great at holding down the back line and helping anchor the squad to hold onto late leads. She isn't the most offensive of the options, but is a stable force.

The third line has Kyouka, Harry, and Mixon; Aoi Kyouka's rise in Sylestone has been well regarded with interest - she makes life miserable for all who crosses her path, and she's very consistent. Rowan Harry makes up for her height with her aggressiveness and tenacity. She is not someone you want to cross on the pitch, as she has both a short temper and a long memory. Twilight Mixon possesses great fundamentals along with the ability to move forward up the pitch as the situation warrants.

Odwin Muir is an ace defender on set pieces who isn't the best on the attack that is physical, dogged, and determined, while Uemura Saburo, on the other hand, has all the fundamentals to take the next step given enough time.

Ineke Van der Plas Bouwmeester is pacey with good marking skills, Claudia Lethbridge-Antonio will be the future in the center going forward, and Hélène Ataciara provides versatility, being able to play with either foot - rounding out a capable reserve unit.

Chromatika continues to use spectacular wingbacks - pinning their ears back and defend, or sometimes running up the field and add to the attack. Some of them are better at some aspect of that than others. Grayson Fillar is a bullheaded, stubborn, physical right back will will outright impose his will on his opponents. Overshadowed by his younger sister, the electric Baillaire, Grayson was the one who actually chose to finish high school in Chromatika before making the move to 1830 Cathair. Though he says that he's proud of his sister (and he probably is), there is a deeply competitive streak in him that demands that he also make a name for himself atop Chromatika's slew of Fillars. On the pitch, he knows how to use his size to its utmost advantage, almost appearing larger than he is at times. He also understands the importance of momentum and tone, leading to his not being shy to commit a foul if one is needed. He has presence, physicality, and endurance, and has added an offensive edge to his game by providing some pace and some through-balls to the front. Playing for 1923 Esca in Mytanija now, he's aged like fine wine. Alongside him is Edith Fillar, the next coming of Megan Kelly, or the Chromatik winger who's short but can run circles around would-be defenders and take over the game due to where she is on the pitch. She may not be the quickest off the ball, but she has the relentlessness that has been present on many great Chromatik wingers. With the mindset of a drill sergeant who is definitely the strictest on herself, she has over a hundred caps already. She's added playing man-to-man defense to her arsenal of formidable skills, as well as the ability to contribute long-range assists with deadly, precise crosses.

For the players behind these two, any of them can be used at any time - what they provide are all distinct and unique enough to be sought after. Emilie Kreutzberg is recognizable due to a magnificent mane of red hair, and a dynamic playmaker who is a swarmer, endlessly trying to be around the ball on the attacking end to tire out the defender and take the shot. She can be a tad overaggressive at times, often leading to being offside, but she scores or contributes to scoring chances enough times to make up for it. Expect her to assist whomever is the Striker in the formation with constant pressure in front of the goal. Nemes Mátyás is a sniper through and through who can score at any range - and as his play improves, he'll become even more dangerous.

Ibayashi Haitou has earned a more important spot after progressing immensely in Quebec and Shingoryeo. He is very good at keeping pace and dropping medium to long crosses. He still struggles with playing through contact, but has the natural aptitude for vision and flow of the match while becoming Mipojoseon's starter. Róża Panaś is neither the fastest nor the most creative, but is a good defensive option. Cyrus Vette immediately gains attention due to his ability to be a creative winger who can shoot with either foot, pass the ball on to the striker in the formation, or even head things in. Moreno Keel is someone who had all the hype in the world a few cycles ago before taking a few steps back. He still possesses fine vision and a good stutter-step, though, as this opportunity has come to him late in his career. Crystle Tracy is an ambidextrous winger who is a pure shooter of the ball that makes runs at the goal.

Far back in the depth chart are Annemarije Van der Wel, a model citizen who can be an asset late in games, and Willemieke Janissen op Colmans, an unconventional winger who is more of a support character than a scorer. He's very good at setting up that goal, though.

This is the position that Chromatika needs fireworks from to succeed.

Depending on the formation, these roles can be taken by two other Midfielders that contribute to the attack, or a Central Midfielder and an Attacking Midfielder to differentiate the roles. Baillaire Fillar is the flashiest of the Fillars, subscribing to the Hermaeus Mora/Haley Hauser school of Attacking Midfielders, marrying both styles by shooting first and asking questions later while making deep runs into opposing territory. With a creative and dramatic flair that doesn't really exist in other Chromatiks from the past, Baillaire is a playmaker through and through. Having crested a hundred caps in the last World Cup, she's continued to mature in her game, and shows no signs of slowing down in her growth, having led Sivolvia Capitalizt to their first tile in the SRS. Vasiliy Marten Kuznetsov had to decide between LWB and AM being his major role, and the veteran chose AM to allow LWBs to be filled out by others. Having learned how to position in the left-center side of a 3-5-2 as needed, VMK will be best utilized in the 3-4-1-2 version. A star who can do it all - drop back and defend, counter, cross, and shoot from range - Kuznetsov remains humble and focused on the final, ultimate goal - returning to the World Cup Final and this time winning it.

With Haley Hauser and Alissar Pheon both having retired, Evin Françine-Miklavivec is next - and she has continued to grow after moving to 1923 Esca. She can hang with most but not all attacking players while also getting by most but not all defenders; she's quick but not lightning-fast, strong but not like a bulldozer, and creative but not brilliant. Maddie Prenn has impressed with how much she's progressed as an on-field player as of late. No longer is she just a sniper who fires from wherever she wants to; she's now someone who knows how to read the flow of the game, make runs, and make the key passes that are either assists or the pass that leads to that assist. Þyrill Bjarnhéðinsson steps in as a creative outlet that has pace, vision, and deadly shooting skill - and there is absolutely room for him on this roster.

Lavrentiy Xuen-Zhukov continues to write his own legend, averaging more than a goal per match and becoming a crowd favorite for Chromatika. Xuen-Zhukov is a Complete Forward that uses a combination of pace, stamina, and acceleration to fly past the opposition and score. He was the fastest ever to reach more than twenty goals, and with seventy-one in seventy-five - all before age twenty-five - he will likely be the highest scoring Chromatik ever by the time his career is over. Having earned the right to be the second striker is Elaine Howard-Dawes, the shooter who's lethal from close to midrange. She can contribute as long as she doesn't need to get past someone to achieve that shot - she's working on that. Xuen-Zhukov takes all the attention, and Howard-Dawes capitalizes.

Finding recent success also is one Marietta "Marie" Faucheux, a complete forward through and through who uses either foot to shoot from any range. Candice Delaya, on the other hand, is decent with both her feet and her head, humble, and can show up in big games. Her ideal pace of play is lurking right in front of the defensive line, waiting for the one ball to create the chance for her to pounce on. She may have lost the starting job to Elaine, but she's one of the veteran strikers on this roster and keen to continue to contribute.

Sandara Park is a poacher rather than a pure shooter. Her ability to be where she needs to be goes beyond anything that's usually taught. Nam Il-San provides a tall option late in games for when height and aggression are needed.

Kaytlyn Jean-Baptiste and Harriet Baïe-Verte are the future. Jean-Baptiste has an endless motor, gets better the longer the game goes, and knows when to step up in big situations; Baïe-Verte is a more well-rounded player who will do almost anything to reach her goals. It's going to be hard to beat out the others who will come into the CFF's attention in the years to come, but the two of them have the inside track. Joining them is one Adélaïde Bittencourt, a striker who had a breakout season in Tikariot, trying to make a name for herself.

Lavrentiy is the pure scorer on the team, while Howard-Dawes tries to ease in as the other starting striker

TACTICAL INFORMATION

Chromatika's 3-4-1-2 is based off of Mytanija's formation.

3-4-1-2 – IN POSSESSION: Chromatika's base formation for World Cup 97 qualification is a 3-4-1-2. This means there will be 3 central defenders, a wing-back on either side, 2 central midfielders, an attacking midfielder and 2 strikers on the pitch at any one time. This does not mean that the team will play in these positions for the whole game, as Chromatiks have adopted the Mytanar philosophy of flexibility in and out of possession, utilizing the fact that until very recently, they ran a 4-3-2-1/4-4-1-1. When Chromatika has the ball the 3-4-1-2 will change into more of a 3-2-5 shape, this is designed to try to create overloads in attacking areas so that the Chromatiks can create two versus one situations where the opposition have to make decisions on who they will engage with.

This 3-2-5 will be achieved firstly by one of the wing-backs (from the starting line-up, this would be right-sided wing-back Grayson Fillar) moving into a central midfield position to play alongside the deeper-lying of the two central midfielders (Kaia Larriet-Cortes, if among the Starting XI). This creates a pairing in central midfield which will be used to help the team build-up, providing passing options both in front of the central defensive three and the 5 players which end-up ahead of them.

That 5 is made-up of the opposite-sided wing-back (in this example it would be left wing-back Edith Fillar), the more advanced central midfielder (Baillaire Fillar), the attacking midfielder (Vasiliy Marten Kuznetsov); and the strikers (usually Xuen-Zhukov and Howard-Daweas). The wing-back has to push on to achieve the 3-2-5 shape, getting into the final third and maintaining the width on their side of the pitch. They will be given some license to get into the penalty area if the ball is on the other side, giving another option for their teammates. The more advanced central midfielder will be tasked with playing inside of the wing-back, in the so-called ‘half-space’, they will look to work with the wing-back to create an overload on their side of the pitch.

The attacking midfielder and the two strikers will interchange fairly freely, though one will always be tasked with pulling wide to ensure that width is maintained on both sides of the attacking ‘5’ with the aim of stretching the opposition’s defense across the width of the pitch. One striker (usually Delaya in the Starting XI) will drop deep to create space for rotations with the attacking midfielder and the other striker, those two looking to run into and exploit the space vacated by the other striker. These rotations are aimed to shift the opposition defenders around the pitch and create a bit of confusion.

In terms of progressing the play the team will look to move the ball with controlled pace. The team will aim to do this with utmost precision, as is the Chromatik way.

3-4-1-2 – OUT OF POSSESSION: Chromatika's reaction to losing the ball depends on where they actually lose possession on the pitch. Should they lose the ball high-up the pitch, in the opposition’s half, then there will be an instantaneous reaction to press the opponent with the ball to try to win it back quickly high-up the pitch. This is hoped to create chances nearer to the opposition’s goal, effectively using the press as a playmaker. If the opponent breaks through the initial press then Chromatika will look to recover into a 5-3-2 shape as below. Should Chromatika lose the ball nearer to their own goal then they will instantly look to recover into defensive positions to try to make themselves difficult to break down. This shape will be closer to a 5-3-2 than the 3-4-1-2 starting formation.

Both wing-backs will drop deeper, alongside the three central defenders to form the 5. The two central midfielders (Larriet-Cortes and Baillaire Fillar), will drop deep in front of the three central defenders to shield them a little and the attacking midfielder (Vasiily Marten Kuznetsov), will drop to play in front of them, operating as a bit of a guard dog – either sitting on an opposition deep-lying playmaker to try to stop the ball into them, or by leading a half-pitch press. The two strikers will look to stop the ball going back to the opposition’s central defenders and press them when they are in possession.

Chromatika will also play a variety of other formations should they want to play a little differently, the most likely ones they would change to from the 3-4-1-2 are a 3-5-2 (taking out the attacking midfielder and using three central midfielders); a 4-3-1-2 (pushing the wing-backs back to play as full-backs, removing a central defender and replacing them with a defensive or central midfielder); a 4-2-3-1 (pushing the wing-backs back to play as full-backs, removing a central defender and a striker and then playing a winger on either side); or a narrow 4-4-2 diamond (pushing the wing-backs back to play as full-backs, removing a central defender to play either as a defensive or central midfielder). Chromatika is very versed in the 4-2-3-1 and the 4-4-2, as they've played those before under previous management.

STRATEGY SUMMARY: Khabibullina is a motivator through and through who tries to get the most out of her players; the thought is that the strategy is not bad - they just weren't applying themselves fully, or were going through some things. Hopefully, that'll be enough.

THE TUMBRAN NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM
The Black Eagles

The Tumbran National Football Team is Tumbra's main representative in all association football competitions for national associations. Making its debut at the 87th World Cup Qualifiers, the team currently ranks 5th in the world. The team is controlled by the Tumbran Football Federation, which is also the governing body of football in Tumbra. Also known as the Black Eagles, or affectionately the Eagles, the team competes in the World Cup and its related competitions. The team also participates in the Campionato Esportiva, also sends teams to the Di Bradini Cup for Under-21s, and the Under-18 World Cup. The team have won the 51st edition of the former tournament and the 13th edition of the latter tournament; which has led to a keen emphasis on bleeding youth into the national team set-up early. The senior national team's best performance, meanwhile, has been with a Final appearance at the 95th edition of the World Cup, but the finer details of that match will not be dwelt overly long on. With a loyal travelling contingent of supporters known as the Black Army, the Tumbran national team's support will be on display throughout this tournament, with lots of tifos and loud cheers expected throughout matches.

That was certainly a cycle. Becoming only the second team to get knocked out of the group stages on five points, Tumbra struck back in quick fashion to bring home their fourth Campionato Esportiva in Riena and Doubeia; and now embark upon the marathon that is World Cup qualifying to return to those hallowed grounds once more. A fool's errand? Maybe. Will it ever be as good as the time Tumbra made a run to the final of the 95th World Cup? Probably not, until they go one further. Will they fail to make a 48-team World Cup as the ninth-ranked team in the world? Given what happened last cycle, it's not entirely out of the question.

The Manager
Michael Campbell, formerly of Straton and Tavistock Athletic, was given the job almost as a sacrificial lamb after Tumbra sacked Peter Gabriel ahead of the 95th World Cup cycle; he was always intended to be an interim while the Tumbran Football Federation waited for a highly-rated foreign manager to open up. That, or waited for the Federation to determine if the international football programme was still financially worth it after a disappointing group stage exit in the 94th World Cup. But Campbell — relentlessly referred to as an interim everywhere — pulled through; going unbeaten in the qualifiers and making a miracle run to the Final, after winning an actual coinflip to determine whether Tumbra or Brenecia progressed to the knockout stages. Though he wasn't able to win the World Cup, Campbell has been vested with considerably more resources; including an actual assistant manager (longtime friend and former Straton team-mate, and later manager, Michael Aitken), and plenty of other coaches.

In press conferences, Campbell will always play down Tumbra's chances; they are never the favourites. At most, the game will be evenly matched; he holds an almost superstitious belief that to publicly state that his team is the favourite is to court a near-instantaneous comeuppance. An adherent to the Tumbran school of defensive, counterattacking football, Campbell follows in former Tumbran national team manager Yuan Zilai's footsteps; but crucially, prefers to set-up with two midfielders in a flat three rather than deploying an attacking midfielder. He's been touted as a manager who can go far, but as implied above, Campbell always redirects praise; instead choosing to foster an underdog mentality within his team, and of himself.

Somewhat important note: I will endeavour to provide boxed call-up notices in each roleplay; so do look out for those. This is intended to be a general overview of who might or who might not be in that particular cutoff's squad.

Tactical Set-Up
Tumbra will usually set up in a 4-3-3 formation. The alternate formation, particularly when Tumbra deploys an attacking midfielder, is a 4-2-3-1. The team's general strategy is to sit back, soak up attacks, then break on the counter. Four-defender formations are seen as the gospel and orthodoxy in Tumbra; three or five-defender formations haven't really picked up steam in the country, only being resorted to in the midst of play.

In defence, Tumbran orthodoxy is to have a four-player defence; wingbacks in this system are expected to start attacks after the central defenders dispossess marauding attackers. The ideal Tumbran wingback is fast, able to pass, and float into midfield when out of possession to help regain possession; in practical terms, one wingback stays back while one floats into midfield. The central defenders are usually split into two; clean-shorts and dirty-shorts, with one focusing on distribution and the other on dispossession.

The midfield is the crux of Tumbran footballing philosophy, with the defensive midfielder being the most important position on the team. The midfield traditionally has three roles; destroyer, pacesetter and creator. Under Michael Campbell, this usually means a double pivot in midfield comprising of Harrison (a mainstay on the team) playing as the destroyer and one of the other two defensive midfielders playing alongside her; or two of Robertson, Harrington, and Leighton, who made waves at the Campionato, if a single pivot is utilised. In any case, the more advanced midfielder typically serves as the creator. On very rare occasions where Tumbra seeks to take control of the game for themselves do they play with an outright attacking midfielder; this shift away from the 4-2-3-1 has been the major innovation of the Michael Campbell era so far, and signals a declining reliance on the status of the purely attacking midfielder.

In attack, creative freedom is granted; though history has usually shined its brightest lights on goalscoring wingers. This usually privileges players who cut in on the wing to overload the box, with crosses a secondary option. Crosses may be delivered by either the wingback or the winger; the wingback is preferred. The ideal Tumbran forward is lithe and agile regardless of which side they play on; finishing ability is respected far more than individual flashes of brilliance, though unsurprisingly players with flair are remembered far better than those who aren't.

On a sliding scale between workhorses and technical finesse, Tumbrans as a whole lean towards the former, though obviously with exceptions. Gamesmanship, time-wasting and riling up the opposition are par for the course; but Tumbrans will never directly break any rules. Tumbrans are pretty naff at set-pieces; they prefer scoring from open play.

It wasn’t a great start in CAFA Cup 9 for these kits. It’s a fairly standard Flavovespian design, a yellow shirt with a “double V” on the front that stretches to create a “double V” on the sleeves. Black shorts and black socks as standard, the shorts with the “double V” pattern too. Again, it’s a black and yellow reversal on the away kit, and the third kit brings back the Anaia colours.

It was always hard to step into the shoes of Augusto Rinaldi, so Victor Adeyemo probably deserves some slack for a disappointing CAFA Cup 9. His style is very different to Augusto Rinaldi, an eccentric character, always giving wild, unusual answers and responses in press conferences, and even in his touchline shouts. A trend from his footballing days as a striker with a good following due to his character, he’s moved over to management well at Loxthorpe Rovers. Despite his laid-back personality, he’s a hard-working manager, and his passion for the national team was clear to see.

At 34, Nathan Crewe may well be in his last World Cup Qualifiers, but he still looks the top choice for Flavovespia in goal. His height (1.98m/6’6) and reach make him formidable in the air, and his ability to kick the ball long for counter attacks makes him a threat to teams who press high. He also brings a sense of leadership to the back line, a vocal communicator but friendly off the pitch. Garry Bowles and Peter Marriott got a cap each in the consolation Casaran of CAFA Cup 9, but both still look raw at international level. Bowles ouldn’t quite make the top level saves needed, and Marriott needed to work on distribution and collecting the ball, he put himself in danger a few too many times.

Flavovespia take 26 to the World Cup Qualifiers, so it’s 9 defenders in the squad. All 8 from the CAFA Cup 9 return, with debutant Sanjay Anand joining them. Stan Scott-Wilson is listed as a left-back, but could well also play at right-back. He has height and pace, and a fair amount of dribbling skill and decent heads up awareness of when to progress forward. His posh accent and mannerisms also make him a memorable and slightly memeable figure. Paul Taylor and Paul Amos are the likely starting centre back duo. Paul Taylor is tall, strong, and now one of the veterans of the defence, even if his aggression and tendency to argue with opponents and refs never quite went away. Paul Amos is slightly more slender, but that gives him pace to combat quick strikers. The other full back position has a few choices. Andrew Dance brings experience and tenacity, but also is approaching retirement, and his pace and agility maybe taking a step off his peak. Richard Storrie and Roger Burden are in the squad, both looked in fine form domestically, internationally they still need a bit more consistency, both sometimes too ambitious in their moves forward and tackling and leave the team exposed. Of the 3 other centre backs, Nazir Hussain is a pure centre back. Limited ball skills, but a real strong hustler of strikers, and won’t give up the battle. David Jarvis is fairly thin for a centre back, and prone to coming off second best in some battles with strong strikers, but can tackle well and can pass out from the back nicely. Sanjay Anand is in the squad, always consistent for Apsbrooke, and with a great game awareness, even if his technical skills are maybe a touch below his international team mates.

9 midfielders are in this squad, but there’s been a shake up from CAFA Cup 9. Jonathan Goldstone has all but retired from the national team, and there’s no room for Cecil Moy or Philip Swales this time. The captain and national team superstar is Jonathan Bagshaw. Only 30, but has over 200 caps, 100 goals, and is such a key influence on the team, arguably the first Flavovespian footballer to truly make a name for himself at the top echelons of the game. Nimble and agile down the wing, and with a deadly shot and cross to go with it. On the left, it’s a battle between Amrik Singh and Anthony Lane. Amrik Singh has a great cross and shot on him, liking to cut inside, but occasionally rushes decisions. Anthony Lane maybe isn’t as strong technically, but has blistering pace and can create time and space with that. Two other options out wide, making their debuts are Matthew Fowler and Patrick Stapley. Matthew Fowler plays down the right, and has a great pass and cross on him, although he’s less adept at finishing. Patrick Stapley can play down both sides, and whilst right footed, has a strong left foot too. Very much good at almost everything a winger needs to be, but doesn’t have a star attribute. In the middle, the hopes lie on Christopher Hill and Charles Adams. Christopher Hill has great passing at all ranges, a good ability to read the pitch, and can be a ball winner too. Charles Adams prefers dribbling to long passing, but will also look to try and win the ball if dispossessed. Two other central midfielders with differing experience are in the squad. Martin Edwards returns, a strong, gritty central defensive midfielder, a great ball winner even if he steps a bit over the line sometimes. John Fletcher is only 21, but he’s also shown a willingness to get stuck in and challenge for the ball in the heart of midfield, taking on far more experienced players. He’ll hope to make a good first impression.

Flavovespia take four forwards to the World Cup Qualifiers, with a real battle to determine the starters, with the central attacking midfielder slot potentially open too for one of these four. Richard Birmingham has a good level of experience, and has been on the international scene a while. However he’s never quite hit the highs of some of the strikers before him. A physical centre forward with a powerful shot and header, he can hustle centre backs, but isn’t the most nimble. Peter Langdon is the opposite, a small, nimble and agile forward. He looks to run off the shoulder, and in space, he’s got a great chance at finding the target. Charles Shepherd is between the two, but one of his good traits is great hold up play, bringing in the midfield into the attack. Austin Payne also makes the squad, another fairly quick striker, known for being in the right place at the right time domestically. Not one for spectacular goals, but consistent with high percentage chances.

Tactics

4-2-3-1 will be the default for Flavovespia, although a 4-3-3 and a 4-4-2 will also be considered. After playing around with more attacking full backs, it looks like a flat back four is likely for Flavovespia, emphasis on defence, but with some pressing against the forwards. The 2 central defensive midfielders split into a ball-winner, who’s emphasis is making the tackles and making the more simple passes, and a regista, a deeper playmaker who looks to initiate attacks. In attack, the wide attacking midfielders have the freedom to roam, and can look to cut inside and score. The attacking midfielder drifts between the midfield to alongside the striker, and thus is fairly mobile vertically. The striker needs to be confident to score, but also have the ability to hold it up if any of the 3 attacking midfielders can make a run. It’s a contrast to the more direct style of before, and the side are working on it after some errors in CAFA Cup 9.

KAMIJIROAN WORLD CUP 97 ROSTER

This is the second World Cup under the management of Raiji Kagawa. Last time out, the team finished a respectable third place (with 20 points) in the group behind HUElavia (1st place, 28 points) and Baggieland (2nd place, 25 points). On top of this, the team only lost twice in twelve matches, going 5-5-2. This time around, the team will be much more cohesive and ready to take on any opponent thrown their way. Players to look out for

James Wilson- the 28 year old left wing has an incredible playstyle. Pace abuses through players who unmatch his talent. Elegant skills and straightforward shooting. Vision is a 6/10 but that doesn't stop him from scoring. Usually scores goals than assists due to his positioning and being the fastest on the team. Knows when the attack and doesn't waste time. Dribbling is also a 6/10 however when he wants to humiliate a player, he will do it accordingly.

Kwame Mensah- the 24 year old CM plays as a defensive player. Passes to the attackers within a short time with his perfect curves. Opposing players get dizzy just seeing him dribble between their legs. As the Captain, his strategy/playstyle is a major contribution to the success of the National Team. Doesn't seem interested in shooting but has good accuracy. Tackles most of the time when he sees an opposing player is free but is cautious when doing it.

Xander Wu- the 38 year old CB is known for his aggressive tactics and playstyle. Tackles multiple times with no mercy for the attackers and shows his force by kicking the ball really hard. His scary appearance makes attackers sluggish and cautious when approaching him. Humbles opposing players and acts like a wall. Has the most red cards on the National team but still saves the team in important matches. Xander may be old but he's a machine when it comes to defending. Dribbling is a 6/10, Passing is a 4/10, Shooting is a 7/10, Defending is a 8/10.

Appointing someone from Ko-oren came as a huge shock, with those from the nation known to be proponents of what most Vanorians would call anti-football tactics, however Millet seems to be an outlier having turned Aminey CS into a big club in the nation while playing good football and the ability to handle big personalities. The question of a culture clash is definitely in place as well as the formation, as she known to prefer a 4-3-3, which would disrupt the traditional Vanorian formation and potentially leave out a wealth of attacking talent up top.

The revolving door at the keeper position continues to swirl although if things continue as they are for Tobias Propst in Pasarga, where he has been the starting keeper for the mighty CA Paulinthal for three seasons, the question mark may be solved. Three solid seasons as that number one for CAP, Propst has earned his way to this position, especially after performing well with the U21 national team. Behind him is the bigger question marks, as the best players are the wrong side of thirty in the form of Pabst and Solheim but they could easily step in should Propst falter under the weight of international play. Meyer has done well with the Blades the last two seasons and earns her spot on the team for the time being while Engström likely suffers a drop due to a drop in play as well as the perceived strength of the Euraleague taking a hit over the past few seasons, which does not help the cause of one of the previously believed bright spots for the future of the position. SImonsen had an awful season with Baskita and as such has gone from being the number one to completely dropped from contention for the qualifiers, proving just how cutthroat Millet can be.

That begins with shifting from a back three into a back four that should hopefully provide a bit more defensive stability. Adler has been a revelation on the right since her move to Quebec, helping helm a defense that is exceptionally difficult to breach, with the hope that translates well into the national team. In the middle Louise Løvoll is the clear pick to lead the defensive organization with her years of experience both for national team as well as Mar Sara, though who should partner her is a bit of a debate, with the return of Samira Lindström not just to the pool but to the starting lineup after an exceptional season with United in the Premiership after Maurer suffered relegation with Duke of the North and prompted a move within Pasarga to CA Paulinthal during the summer. The left side is perhaps the strongest part of the the defense with three players in their prime, Söderström being the best of the trio with staunch play in back to back seasons with the Blades.

Few words can truly encapsulate the sheer amount of skill and drive that Laborious Hawk provides in the middle of the park and with the change in formation, he will likely shift to being more of a shadow striker sort of position rather than a facilitator. The role of playmaker will likely fall upon the shoulders of Liam Sæthre, with the Farfadillis based midfielder being a more well rounded player who can operate in a number of role and provides the sort of versatility to balance out the midfield. The holding midfielder is a question mark in the pool with the former stalwarts finally aging out and no one who looks outstanding really in domestic play, Stjern having earned the spot with her play last qualifiers, while the six foot six destroyer that is Myrhe offers a bit of punch when needed. With Holt no longer a part of the squad, the team will now lean on Winkel but it is going from strength to strength as the pool is extremely deep on the left. The Kelssek league has proven good proving grounds for Vanorians on the wing with both Anke Waechter on the left and Lina Gården on the right using the league's high reputation and good performances within it to make the team even if they are not expected to start.

Haaland's time is now, several seasons tearing it up with Turkish with two SuperLiga titles to his name with as many golden boots and it's clear that Juavi was never going to be enough for the lad. Strong enough to hold off the more physical defenders, fast enough to get behind them, and with a good nose for goal that has developed from a young age. While no means a dominant striker in any one area, his collective game is hard to beat and will make him a force to reckon at the head of the Marauders' attack and affords Millet flexibility in her approach game to game. Holmberg will be off the bench for someone with a bit more pace, while Brekke offers a pure goalscoring option. Hahn and Garberg are like Haaland and have a bit more a well rounded game, both able to play further back if needed, Garberg using the reputation increase from Kelssek's league growth and his own decent scoring record for Latrobe to earn the callup.

Millet comes as an odd choice to take over the managerial role for the Marauders following the retirement of legendary Euran boss Dan Eastwood, with many suspecting the Ko-oren born manager to bring a brand of negative football to the Empire due to her homeland. However many were surprised with her decision to play an attacking game that takes the press to the opponent while also stabilizing the defense with sacrificing one of the strikers to switch into a back four. It had its moments of both greatness and awkwardness during the Qualifiers as the squad adapts to the change but it did lead the team to an undefeated record and threw a spanner in the works for those who thought they knew how to deal with the Marauders way of playing the game.

In september 1923, several communist districts of Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer, mostly of English origin, declared their independence and formed the new nation of Burnham-on-Stove. The Burnhamese Communist Party is the only authorized party in Burnham-on-Stove. The national animal is also the Tapir.

500: The first documented permanent Aztec settlements in Nova Calania dates from around 500 AD.

1748: Explorers of Polish origins came to the area just south of Krytenia and southwest of Ibixa and founded the town of Ostrow Krolewski on the shores of the Ocean of Ayes. They named the area Odlegla Ziemia (Distant Land).

1760-1820: Odlegla Ziemia expanded southwest and further inland on the east.

1793: Jean-Jacques le boucanier established his colony in what is known today as Vieux-Saint-Jean-Jacques (Old St. Jean-Jacques) or Vieille-Ville (Old Town) just northeast of Cardenao. This is the foundation of Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer. The city state expanded on both side of the Stove river.

1818: Explorers of Asian origin came to the area between Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer and Odlegla Ziemia and founded the city state of Shanzhou. This stopped Odleglian expansion southwest of their capital.

1851-54: The Aztecs, helped with some mercenaries from Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer and Burnham-on-Stove, attacked Odlegla Ziemia and took back 1/3 of Odlegla Ziemia's land that was previously stolen from the Aztecs.

1923: Districts of Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer located north of the Stove river (mostly English speaking) declared their independence and formed a new communist state under the name of Burnham-on-Stove.

2023: Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer and Burnham-on-Stove united to form a new sporting alliance. Both nations remained independents on all aspects, except they shared a joint national team in all sports.

2025: On may 15th 2025, leaders from Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer, Burnham-on-stove, Odlegla Ziemia, Shanzhou and the Nova Calanian Aztec Confederacy united together to form the United States of Nova Calania. Unlike Saint-Jean-Jacques et Burnham-on-Stove, it's not just a sporting alliance. It's a policical, economic, military and sporting alliance.

Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer and Burnham-on-Stove has a tropical rainforest climate (Köppen classification of Af). We have high mean annual temperatures, small temperature ranges and rain that falls throughout the year. A tropical rainforest climate is typically hot, very humid, and wet. Average high range from 28 °C to 32 °C and average low is 24 °C all year long. Between august to november we have between 100 and 175 mm of rainfall. 250 mm of rainfall in january and february. Then 180-200 mm in march and april and finally over than 250 mm of rainfall in april to july with a peak of 350 mm of rainfall in may and june.

The climate is relatively the same in Odlegla Ziemia and Shanzhou, except that it rains much less often.

Île de Richelieu (formerly known as Jan Mayen Island) was discovered by Dutch explorers early in the 17th century and served as a whaling base until it was abandonned. France claimed the island in the 19th century and renamed it Île de Richelieu (Richelieu Island) but the island's jurisdiction was finally given to Norway. The French speaking majority, led by the clergy, declared the independence of Île de Richelieu in 1948.

However, in winter 2024-25, during the Independents Championship 20, the nation was the theater of a military Coup d'État made by the Nasjonal Patriotisk Front av Richelieu Øy (NPFRO) and it's leader, Ragnhild Østerberg. Former Cardinal of Île de Richelieu, Jean-René De la Sablonnière, his wife and his older son, Jean-William De la Sablonnière, an 18 years old professional football player, all died in the Coup d'État. The Bjørnefjellets Nasjonalstadion has been build specifically for international matches. Île de Richelieu's population is ~~928~~ 543 since the Coup d'État, so, with a capacity of 11,569, a little more than 10,000 foreign football fans can attend the games!

The stadium has 3 stands. East Side stand, West Side stand and North Endline Stand. There is a small VIP stand on the south endline and the pressbox is located on the south endline as well. The stadium has lights on the four corners so evening games can be played. The stadium doesn't have a video board, nor a scoreboard.

Île de Richelieu's population is 543. The largest city and capital city is Sankt Hans Havn (Port Saint-Jean) and one third of the island's population lives in the city (182). The city have a few upscale restaurants along with fast food restaurants and some local pubs. Beer is largely consumed on the island and Richelois likes to get around at the local pub after work.

The island only have one hotel and it may cause a problem if 10,000 football fans are coming. The only hotel on the island is a 124 room SpringHill Suites by Marriott located in the old Port Saint-Jean and half of hotel will be reserved for the visiting team (players, staff and media) who will have 50 rooms at their disposal. Home games of the Green Lions will take place in the Kaujas Lauks Stadium in Vilarme, home stadium of local FK. The stadium has 24.000 seats, of which 1.800 are reserved for visiting fans. Those are advised to travel via the Birzina International Airport, from where shuttle buses will be available into the city. The Valentian International Football Association – And neither did World Cup 96. We really could use a comeback.

“Well, here we are again! I know I said this a lot, but once again, we will have to put in the usual effort to go through this and- I believe you have heard of this over and over. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to be THAT pessimistic! After all, I am indeed Clarissa, I should be a bit more optimistic, haha! Without being passive-aggressive, I still am. It’s just that it’s been quite a toll on us all, you know? We thought we got something and then come the playoffs, we would get absolutely eliminated. Sometimes, we don’t even last throughout the qualifications. Hopefully we will get a comeback for this one! Oh and on top of that, we have a new team from Alanis Star competing as well! Which is a little stranger considering that I am a leader of the autonomous territory. Still, just because I’m Alanis Star’s leader doesn’t mean I need to lead their team too. The Alanis and Node 93 Football Association – n = 1.

The first time for everything! After Valentians (that is still us) have gained a territory in Esportiva, we have decided to enter the world of sports as well, and it would seem like Association Football is one of the more common ones that we can dip our feet into. The special mention is that most of the players are currently from the only city that is in Alanis Star’s Esportivan region – Node 93. A team that is 25 players strong, along with adopting the offensive playstyles that the Valentian Kittens and Gwen’s Angels (in basketball / IBC) are known for, we have decided to call ourselves the Diodes. Now, why that name, you may ask. According to the dictionary’s definition, a diode is a semiconductor device with two terminals, typically allowing the flow of current in one direction only. And what do we want to do here? To make sure that the football goes only in one direction – towards the opponent goalpost!

Perhaps we should also explain – given the name and the nature of the place (which we will get into later in the subsequent explanations), Alanis Star is NOT made solely out of robots, cyborgs, and the transhumanist beings that you see in a typical scifi. Just like the rest of the Valentians, we are still mostly humans (with robots hailing from all over Valentine Z, not just Alanis Star) and we do not believe in cybernetic enhancements unless we really have to use them. Valentians as a whole believes more in exoskeletons and wearables, the kind that you can easily remove instead of being implanted into your body. Hence, we are still organic with flesh and blood, and the only slight difference is that the Stars (the demonym for those that hailed from the regions under Alanis Star; not to be confused with Sarzonia’s Stars) are a little bit more tech-inclined and have taken up tech jobs. Again, will be explained!

The most bizarre story in a tournament full of bizarre stories is that of the Kensington Town Soccer Club, which inexplicably competed in the most recent CAFA tournament in Anaia despite being 1.) a beer league team and 2.) having wandered off a plane from Hapilopper. Nevertheless, their strong performance in the most recent CAFA, held in Space Laser Robot Pirate Dinosaur Land (or something like that) inspired both the team to do some great things and for Hapilopper to seek an overseas outpost in Anaia. That outpost, called the "Hapiloppian Overseas Territories: Dominion Anaia Maritime Neighborhood" or "HOT-DAMN" for short, was approved by the Hapiloppian Parliament not long after the CAFA ended, and some Hapiloppians traveled over to Anaia to get the outpost started. While the outpost is currently under construction, the team will temporarily play its home games in Buckridge's Raceway Park. A 20,000 seat park is being constructed as part of the outpost.

The two goalkeepers on the Kensington Town squad are perhaps the most intellectual of the bunch.
Jim Dash, a financial planner for a major accounting firm back home, has won the last 16 trivia nights at the local bar in a row, even in spite of Triviamaster Dave Boyd's attempts to make things more difficult by bringing in much more obscure and esoteric topics such as "Parliamentary Procedures of Rushmori Nations, 1965-1980" and "World Grand Prix Champinship Reject Drivers, Seasons 1-5". Turns out Dash knows those like the back of his hand.

Zeke Moore, meanwhile, is the go-to when it comes to different scotch whiskies - even being able to tell the difference between the barrels that the whiskies were aged in. So even the bartenders at the local bar come up to him and ask what's the difference between one bottle of scotch or the other. Away from the bar and the pitch, Zeke has made that passion into his occupation, working as a salesman for a local whiskey company.

The four starting defensemen on the Kensington Town team have some very interesting - and quirky - tastes.

Randy Russell, for instance, made those quirky tastes well known on a Saturday evening at the bar when he put on some extremely obscene tunes that angered a local church women's group that had come by for lunch. Jimmy Eaton was presented with two choices: Either Randy is not allowed within 20 feet of the jukebox or he gets a lawsuit for obscenity. Away from the field, Russell has been pulled over by police at least 10 times for having his car radio up too loud - and for having some of those real disgusting songs playing at full blast. Several months ago, he appeared on one of those police videos shows real popular in his home country - for playing one of those songs at full blast near a local middle school.

On a Friday night a few months ago, Johnny Carter, seeing a news story involving the local parliament arguing over some piece of obscure-ass legislation involving a city several hundred miles from them. Carter went on a tangent to some of his fellow barflies explaining - in very painfully esoteric terms - why the procedure was not being followed right, why point of order was not being met or whatever, and why - damn it, Joyner, taking the parliamentary mace, wrapping it in barbed wire, setting it on fire and thrashing it over someone's head is grounds to get expelled from parliament permanently, even if it's a "worked" parliamentary mace as you claim it is. Either way, the rest of the barflies were much more interested in Freddy Joyner's implementation of professional wrestling in parliament than what Johnny was saying.

Bruce "Elf Ears" Tatum got his name for a Sunday jaunt in the bar. With heavy rains all over the area, their field was a sloggy, muddy mess and the game between Kensington Town and rival Sharpsburg Rovers was called off. So both teams went to Laughing Dog Bar, had way too much to drink, argued over the NSSCRA race being aired on the televisions, and somewhere, somehow, a pair of elf ears were produced. Bruce Tatum put them on and as he puts it, "that's the last thing I remember." Others in the bar recall him drinking way too much, blowing chunks and getting sent outside, where he passed out in a driving rainstorm.

Gael Hicks became a fan of Hapiloppian football player Nathan Ellis years ago, when, on a whim, he turned on a World Cup 84 qualifying match between Hapilopper and Vdara. It was in that game where Ellis clotheslined Vdaran footballer Alexis Fotellis and made quite an ass out of himself. Since then, Hicks decided that, in his beer league games of his own, he'd do what Ellis did. He started wearing Number Five - which in Hapiloppian football is considered "the number of violence" and he started playing like Ellis. But the thing is, the other teams didn't like it, and neither did local law enforcement, who hilariously arrested Hicks after he tried doing his Nathan Ellis routine on a beer league team consisting of local police officers.

The bench defenders are just as quirky as the starting ones, and have become famous within the Kensington area - some for good reasons, and others for reasons you'd rather not think about.

Have you ever turned on the 6 o'clock news and wondered where in the hell the reporters found some of these goobers they talk to? Elwood Davis has jokingly called himself a "professional idiot on the street" for his numerous appearances on the local news - oftentimes being dressed up in a bathrobe and an old baseball hat, giving his take on the exploding gas station across the street or the moron that tried stealing an ambulance on the corner of the road he was on. And every time it happens, Elwood will come back to Laughing Dog that day and get heckled by his fellow barflies for his latest, ludicrous take on the news of the day. It has happened at least 10 times in the last year, even as local news networks seemingly forget who they're talking to.

Freddy Joyner is the resident professional wrestling fanatic of the Laughing Dog crew - to the delight and chagrin of his fellow barflies. Every Monday and Wednesday, he insists on the bar putting on the pro wrestling shows, and he'll go on and on about why this pro wrestling storyline is working and why this pro wrestling executive is a dunderheaded goober because of his insistence on wearing a neck brace in the middle of a professional sports draft. Othertimes, he'll just yell at the TV to tell a pro wrestler to get a table and set it on fire. Joyner has been adored by his fellow barflies for things such as sparing them the boredom of esoteric-ass parliamentary talk, and chastized for attempting to perform pro wrestling maneuvers on them, such as one instance when he offered Anthony Donis $20 "to see what Suplex City is like."

Darrell Hawkins, meanwhile, really enjoys cooking. The only reason he doesn't go behind the bar and make food for his fellow barflies is that there are people employed to make that food and he doesn't want to take away from their livelihood. Instead, he'll go home and make his own food. His favorite dishes include what he calls "Thunderchicken 65" - a spicier version of a Chicken 65 dish - and his own tuna casserole, which he considers his party piece that he'll make for girls he's seeing and for barflies that come over to his place when they need a place to crash.

Eddie Deacon is a complete idiot. He's the kind of guy that does stupid things for money - and we mean, really, REALLY stupid things. Things like breathing fire for a $5 bet, things like blowing up a toilet at Laughing Dog for a $20 bet (something that netted him a six-month ban from the bar when Jimmy Eaton saw the damage) and punching out a referee to help a friend win a bet. Eddie had collided with another player from Green Street Club in the 28th minute of a match - a cynical challenge, maybe a little excessive, but it was there. And when the referee started breaking the two apart, Eddie recalled two of his friends getting into an argument over what would happen if a player punched a referee, and a bet was placed. So Eddie figured he'd resolve the bet and decked the referee. He was given a straight red and a two match suspension. He was lucky Jimmy Eaton didn't stick a boot up his ass afterwards.

The midfielders on the Kensington Town squad have gotten themselves into some level of trouble for a variety of reasons.

Zack Webster, for starters, has managed to ruin no less than three dates he has brought to Laughing Dog after his date will inevitably ask him "so, what are you interested in?" Webster will respond, inevitably, with his very encyclopedic - and very boring - knowledge of televion station signoffs from the 1970s and 1980s. Occasionally, one of his fellow barflies will overhear this, bring some of their friends in and when Webster finishes his spiel, they'll chime in by giving their rendition of the most annoying sound in the world. Inevitably, the date has decided she's had enough and walks away - oftentimes before the food even arrives. Webster works at a local TV station in the mornings, so at least his coworkers have that same interest - we hope.

Anthony Donis, meanwhile, has just recently recovered from a shoulder injury that came after Freddy Joyner offered him $20 to see "what Suplex City is like." Donis is obviously a complete idiot because Joyner takes pro wrestling way too seriously. Either way, Donis accepted the offer, Joyner picked him up and gave him a vicious belly-to-back Hapiloppian suplex that slammed him into the bar itself, breaking his shoulder. Donis missed three months of action while Joyner was suspended two matches for "aggravated dipshittery," as Jimmy Eaton put it. The bar at Laughing Dog, meanwhile, was visibly dented from the suplex. Jimmy decided not to have it fixed "to show everyone what kind of morons I have frequenting my establishment."

"God damn it, Roger, you again?" The Kensington Town Police know Roger Goetz a little too well. He's not a violent person and he doesn't do anything too bad. His problem is he tends to stumble home from Laughing Dog a little too often after having a little too many cold ones with his friends. Roger has been arrested no less than five dozen times for public drunkenness and criminal stupidity - including one time when he got sick and blew chunks on a side of a fast food restaurant not far from his apartment. His mugshots have appeared on the walls of Laughing Dog as Kensington Town Police have let Jimmy Eaton know of one of their more overserved customers. Jimmy laughs it off - Roger doesn't get in a car and drive, he doesn't do anything that endangers the health of anyone else or himself, he just enjoys drinking, and he'll walk home instead.

On a Saturday night in the offseason, Jimmy Clifford was playing with the arcade machine near the back of Laughing Dog and was getting a little frustrated with how he was doing. To make matters worse, it seemed like the arcade machine was taunting him for how poorly he was doing. There was a line of people waiting to play on the arcade machine and they were getting frustrated. Finally, Jimmy lost his cool, first screaming bloody murder at this inanimate arcade machine that had mocked him for the last time, then grabbing a sledgehammer that, for some reason, was situated off to the side. Jimmy started whaling away at the arcade machine before eventually, an impact from the sledgehammer caused the arcade machine to blow up, sending shrapnel flying in all directions, causing the fire alarm to go off and leading Jimmy Eaton to explain to firefighters that no, Laughing Dog was not on fire, some dipshit just blew up the arcade machine in a fit of white-hot rage.

Kensington Town has two backup midfielders, and by comparison to the starters, don't really do much to get in trouble, but they do have their moments.

This past Halloween, Kenny Stewart, who is 5'10", decided he wanted to dress up like Clarissa Alanis Star from the wonderful world of Valentine Z. This included dying his skin blue and getting stilts so he could appear to be comically large. Unfortunately, Kenny didn't consider the fact that the front door of Laughing Dog didn't take giant Valentians into consideration, nor did he consider his balance when walking on stilts. So as he walked out to Laughing Dog, he realized he couldn't get through the front door, dressed up as Clarissa Alanis Star, and a 5'10" big blue robot just wasn't going to cut it. He tried crawling through the door and failed, before finally giving up. But as he got back up, he slipped a bit and busted his ass as he fell onto the sidewalk, nearly taking out an old lady walking by. For whatever reason, that old lady now has a fear of fat morons dressed up as Valentians.

A few weeks after Kenny Stewart busted his ass, it was karaoke night at Laughing Dog. Rudy Royal, figuring he'd act on a goofball impulse, meandered out to the stage and asked to take a soulful funky pop hit that had just come out. He gave the karaoke operator a mischievious look, looked at the lyrics and started singing it like a thrash metal hit, screaming the lyrics at the top of his lungs. It got everyone's attention and was worth quite a few laughs and a lot of cheers. But the next day when he showed up to his job as an advertising sales rep for the local newspaper, everyone wondered what happened to his voice. Rudy had to explain that, yes, he had blown it out, no, he wasn't watching sports on television, and yes, after a coworker played a video that had been posted to twii.tur, he had blown his voice out doing karaoke.

The two starting forwards can score a lot of goals and piss a lot of people off. Sometimes at the same time.

Chris Spears is lucky someone didn't shoot him. While on a weekend visit to Hapilopper City, he spotted a political rally featuring Hapiloppian President William Mathis. Spears, who is apolitical and considers all politicians to be corrupt douchenozzles, opened the window of his 6th floor hotel room, got out a megaphone and shouted "HEY! CHECK THIS OUT!" As Mathis and about 3,000 people turned around looked, Spears pulled down his pants and hung his bare ass out the window. Nobody could restore order as Spears danced his bare ass out the hotel window. Mathis, meanwhile, sensing that people in Hapilopper do this sort of dumb stuff all the time, couldn't help but crack up.

While Chris Spears is mooning heads of state, Charlie Downer is going for his seventh plate at the local all-you-can-eat buffet. Downer has one of the best metabolisms of any footballer, professional or amateur - in the area, and loves to eat lots of food. In the process, he has tested the extent of these restaurants' "all you can eat" policy, and on three occasions, he has shown that "all you can eat" doesn't really mean "literally all you can eat," as managers of these restaurants have come up to him and asked him to please leave because while he's eating all he can eat, they can't keep up with the demand and the demand of other customers.

The two backup strikers have their own quirks, some good and some really, really stupid.

For the last 20 years, Matthew Haywood has been prohibited from renting cars back home following a well-publicized incident where he, pissed off at a fellow motorist, smashed into his rear bumper. That fellow motorist pulled up alongside him and doorslammed him. So rather than just exchange insurance details, apologize for their misdeeds and move on, these two idiots turned their vehicles into weapons and the highway as their own personal battleground. By the time it was over, Haywood's car was demolished, smoking and may have been on fire. The other guy's car was demolished as well, not to mention the three other people that got caught up in it. Punches were thrown, police got involved and by the time it was over, the rental car agency was even angrier than the guy that Haywood rear-ended.

Ted Ingram is a steakmaster. He and his friends - all of whom have been friends since college - get together once a week on a Friday night, get some steaks, whiskey and cigars and enjoy the evening. They'll get a bad movie from the 80s, watch that and enjoy their steaks. Many of his friends are also regulars at Laughing Dog, and they'll come along for the Sunday games as well, but then question why Ingram doesn't get much playing time. The reality is, Ingram is just as happy sitting on the bench and enjoying himself as he is anything else.[/quote]

As a player, Elaine Ashdown was the midfielder of her generation, and one of the finest in Nephara's long lineage of star CMs. As a manager, results had been more mixed before her hiring by Yuezhou, but things have really worked out here after she at least held her own at Brinemouth and Gaelic Club. She favors a more patient style than Chen Huikang's, emphasizing structure and workrate in midfield. However, far from a traditional defensive disciplinarian, she also likes giving talented, creative wing players room to operate, often using individual creativity to cover for her tactical setups. While soft-spoken, she knows what it takes to win, and will do whatever it takes to get her players to learn the same. In what could be her last cycle with the Dragons, can she finally bring them the silverware they've been waiting for?

Assistant Manager: Corinne MERSIADES, 54 (NPH)
Last seen with North Laithland, Mersiades has had a number of stints managing Nepharan clubs. But despite her clear tactical prowess, she's never quite been able to put it all together in her club career. Still, her skillset makes her well-suited to inform Ashdown's strategy and help Yuezhou perform better against stronger teams - something they've historically struggled with.

Assistant Manager: CHEN Haixuan, 50
Liang Bo has surprisingly resigned as assistant manager after being losing the U21 job to Kang Guilin's nephew, something Ashdown can't be too happy about. Taking his place is the younger Chen, who has managed Beian Rovers from lower midtable to the heady heights of...also lower midtable. He's at least a likeable guy who should help communicate Ashdown's vision and keep things friendly in the dressing room.

Goalkeeping Coach: Ursula GAVARIS, 43 (NPH)
Yue National Team Goalkeeping Coaches have been very in-demand lately, with Lu Qiang headed to the Red League and Ming Xilang off to Quebec. Ashdown will hope that the Zenith veteran who last kept goal for Alliance Barossia won't follow in their footsteps too quickly.

A goalkeeping phenom who won a historic Golden Ball (both in terms of position and age) en route to Jiangdong's first league title in years before becoming even more successful abroad. A cool, confident, and physically imposing general on the pitch, albeit a bit traditionalist in playstyle.

#12 - GK - Elaine XU (f) - 27 - Newark Argyle (TMB)
Known for her distribution as well as her heroics outside of the penalty box, Xu's family escaped to Tumbra at the outbreak of the Yue Civil War, but the young, flashy goalkeeper is now back. She was expected to present a long-term challenge to Zhao Deliang's starting spot, but Zhao's ascension into a higher level, combined with the emergence of a number of other young goalkeepers, have thrown her future with the national team into question despite steady success at the club level.

The son of former South Newlandian NT captain Mikhail Trischuk, Trischuk-Huang is a lanky, athletic shot-stopper with flashes of passing talent. Calling him up early ensured the Newlandians wouldn't get him for the Campionato, but he's now a solid starter in Sylestone and a genuine threat to take one of the spots on the World Cup Proper roster.

CENTER-BACKS

#05 - CB - Esekíel Zeminsson YAO (姚真君) - 25 - Ararat Severyan (MYT)
While he's not quite a BFG, Esekíel Yao is still quite physically imposing, and compensates for average speed with strong defensive instincts, good short-range passing, and the ability to perform under pressure. Does have a prospenity to foul in dangerous areas and overrate his own passing instincts, but one can hope that'll go away in time. Idolized Yuan Mingrong growing up, and was given Yuan's #5 after playing by his side for two seasons at Ararat.

#15 - RCB - DENG Daiyu (邓黛玉) (f) - 31 - Newark Argyle (TMB)
A physical, aggressive defender who's also weirdly good at line-breaking passes. Captained Jiangdong Tycoons before their relegation, earning a transfer to a much higher-quality league in the process. Now, she's matured into an excellent defender, albeit one that will never make the headlines if things go smoothly.

#36 - CB - ZHAO Fan (f) - 25 - West Couno United (TMB)
Excellent on-ball skills for a defender, with her passing especially solid, but can be overly rash to tackle. Still, despite her aggression, she's rapidly grown into a key piece for the surprise Tumbran champions, and rumors are that Ashdown has her pegged as a future starter.

#27 - CB - JI Wenwei - 23 - Olympia Borograd (STL)
A young but surprisingly polished center-back who anchored Royals' title-winning defense before heading abroad, Ji has well-honed defensive instincts and positioning - but there are concerns that he's a high-floor, low-ceiling prospect who lacks the athleticism needed to become a world-class defender.

#35 - CB - SHA Jian - 30 - Knetyohai City FC (CMT)
A physically imposing, hard-tackling center-back with enough on-ball skill to get by. Also somewhat hotheaded, with a tendency to pick up lots of cards.

FULLBACKS

#14 - LB/LWB - HUANG Han (黃翰) - 29 - Istria City FC (BNJ)
An energetic, pacy wingback who thrived as a crosser in Olympic Nangang's three-at-the-back system, before excelling both as a winger and as a fullback in the proving grounds of Kelssek, where he earned consideration for Young Player of the Year with Torbay Thunder. Now in the S-FPL and reinstated as a starter, the only remaining questions around his game are whether or not he actually wants to be a defender.

#13 - RB/RWB - Songwei MILOSEVIC (米松伟) - 24 - Eikborg Club (SEM)
Born to Mytanar steelworker parents in Beian, Milosevic is industrious off the field but made waves with a high-flying, attack-minded take on the rightback position. While still raw, his incredible endurance and strong ball skills could make him a great modern fullback. A strong performance during the previous qualifiers has led to a torch-passing moment, as he takes over for the legendary Dong Xiaowang at starting right-back.

#02 - LB - Gía Ansdottír LIN (f) - 23 - Tekstil (MYT)
A very athletic, talented young fullback, but one with much stronger defensive than attacking instincts. Her leadership and sense of positioning could make her future club captain material, but she'll need to cut down on fouls and develop a crossing game to reach her full potential. Has been through a lot in her young career, from double-relegation as a teenager in Ko-oren to blatant sexism in the Kytler Peninsulae, but enjoyed a breakout campaign last season in Mytanija.

#44 - RCB/RB - Jason Yuanjunsson REN - 23 - CF Outineau (KSK)
A sturdy, hard-working right-back known for his tactical fouls. Theoretically has the ball skills and tools to be useful on the attack, but hasn't quite put them together. Has taken the number 44, the first Yueren to ever do so on the national team, after his initial request to take #4 was flatly denied by the YFA.

HOLDING MIDFIELDERS

#18 - CM - PAN Xilei (f) (潘熙蕾) - 35 - La + Querida (FFD)
Pan Xilei’s ascendance from international hostage to best defensive midfielder in the world (as recognized by the Tornados) has been as sudden as it was unexpected. Early in her career, a paperwork mixup torpedoed her NT chances and left her an international hostage in the SFPL’s basement. But after winning the SFPL on loan and captaining her newly lithified club to their highest-ever finish, she’s become a key part of the national team. On the pitch, she's an intelligent player whose greatest strengths are her workrate and physicality - and a decade of Farfadillis-related trauma has made her very good under pressure. Likely her last cycle on the national team, but she's done enough recently to ensure she'll retire a legend.

#29 - CDM/CM - ZHAXI Jianzan (f) (扎喜坚赞) - 28 - Serrapince (TMB)
A hard-nosed defensive midfielder who will do anything on the field to win - and who has the athletic ability and field vision, if not a full suite of on-ball tools yet, to make it happen. Not related to Zhaxi Nanlei.

#17 - CM - DONG Yichun (f) - 23 - Kirkenes (KSK)
A metronomic presence in midfield despite her young age, with some flashes of creativity. Has quietly become one of the best Yue midfielders in the world after a surprisingly good season with Kirkenes, with an inability to be pressed that the Dragons sorely need from their rotational midfield options.

#25 - CDM/CB - Rutger ZHOU - Southfell United (NPH)
The dual national is a bit of a left-field pick from Ashdown: he's a center-back in the Nepharan second tier who'll be playing out of position for a country whose language he barely speaks. But he has a lot of grit, is sneakily athletic, and has enough on-ball ability to look like a midfielder if you squint. Besides, if Elaine Ashdown says you're a midfielder, you listen.

ATTACKING MIDFIELDERS

#34 - LW/ST - LIN Qingling (f) (林清龄) - 31 - Sporting Noordende (CNR)
After a few years winning over Cap Nord, Lin Qingling finally got a chance to start last World Cup with Luo Nanwei hurt, and seriously rose to the occasion. A versatile attacker most skilled at setting up others, Lin isn’t the most athletic but has a lot of tricks in her bag to compensate.

#08 - CM/CAM - Kara Mingsdottír ZHANG (f) (张白兰) - 28 - Liria Prizren (MYT)
The YFA spent a lot of time and effort convincing Karolíná Mingsdottír to declare for Yuezhou's national team instead of Græntfjall's, but it's become apparent that the young midfielder was worth the trouble. A well-rounded midfield prospect whose speed and technique makes her devastating on the counterattack, and who has a propensity for scoring wondergoals. Has seriously come into her own at Liria, becoming one of Rushmore's most promising young talents at attacking midfield.

#22 - RW - FU Xiaoxi (符小西) - 31 - Lhor (CMT)
A smooth and skilled winger, if perhaps overly deferential on the attack. Luo Nanwei's early retirement, brought on by a combination of injuries and ego, has thrust the soft-spoken Fu into the limelight as the team's starting winger - but he's used to the pressure from his successful stint in the Red League.

#07 - LW - Vincent TONG - 25 - Falourr (EUR)
Tong loves to hug the touchline, where he can best make use of his blazing-fast speed, hardworking nature, and above-average crossing ability. Struggles at times against more physical teams that won't let him run by people, but has still developed quite well in Eura before deciding to play in his father's country of origin.

#80 - CM - Brynjólfur Zhenyasson ZHANG - 25 - Crossroads (CMT)
Born and raised in Græntfjall, but the son of Yuezhou NT midfielder Zhang Zhenya, it was anyone's guess who Zhang was going to declare for. Just like Kara Mingsdottír Zhang (no relation), though, he opted for the side with a paucity of talented young midfielders. After returning to Yuezhou at his father's urging and surprising everyone by becoming the linchpin of Royals' attack at a young age, he headed to the Red League to further prove himself. A dynamic 8/10 hybrid who moves quickly with and without the ball, and who offers relentless energy on the defensive end. Dropped out of the NT midway through World Cup 96 due to the stress of the situation in Græntfjall, but seems to be back to full strength.

#11 - RW - LU Qiuying (f) - 22 - Yassaca FC (SRS)
Pacy and surprisingly skilled on the ball; at her best when cutting inside to shoot. Provides a nice tactical contrast to Fu that may actually better fit the team's style, but Ashdown understandably has concerns that one good season, no matter how good the league is, might not be enough to translate to the international level.

#19 - CAM/CM/RB - Maximillian WEN - 23 - Miruan City FC (TKT)
A swiss-army-knife of a player that has quickly endeared himself to his team's fans and Elaine Ashdown alike. Wen's biggest strengths are his versatility and tenacity. But he's far from a high-motor, low-skill player, having shown advanced playmaking talents for his age in Tikariot.

STRIKERS

#21 - ST - Leona TSANG (f) (曾巧珠) - 23 - Lhor (CMT)
GS+'s best young player in the world is now a Dragon, accepting Elaine Ashdown's callup in controversial fashion two caps short of being tied to the Cormorants. Her speed, dynamic off-ball runs, and ability to score from anywhere make her difficult to pin down, especially with Kara Mingsdottír Zhang feeding her a steady diet of through-balls for the foreseeable future.

#32 - RW/ST - ZHENG Hong (f) - 27 - Lakewood United (TMB)
A hardworking and athletic winger, Zheng still lacks a bit of finesse and can look quite awkward at times. Still, she always seems to get the ball where she wants it to be, and she's actually quite the composed finisher if you look at the xG.

#09 - ST - LIANG Wei - 33 - Chardonnay Rangers (NPH)
A tall, imposing target man who finally escaped the yo-yo life in Kelssek by...moving to a promotion favorite in Nephara's First Division. Can be a little immature at times, but absolutely lit up the second tier to the tune of thirty-six goals last season, earning himself the #9 before underwhelming at the Copa Rushmori.
