It was the night before qualifying at the Garden of Radiance and Kai Qiang's tire carrier was feeling hungry. He went to get some food, but it was late and a lot of things were closed for the night. After a little wandering around looking for something that was still open, and a little staring at the display of food debating what he wanted, he bought a hoagie and a can of Vilaye. His stomach was rumbling and he was eager to eat the hoagie right away. It didn't seem like it would be any problem to eat and walk at the same time. He was unwrapping the hoagie and his eyes were on the sandwich instead of the sidewalk, so he didn't notice that he was stepping over a tall curb -- until his foot slipped over the edge and he twisted his ankle. He managed to catch himself without falling or dropping the hoagie or the Vilaye, but he spent a couple of minutes hobbling around, wincing in pain, and grumbling in Chinese with a thick southern accent.

The tire carrier limped back to his bed thinking the pain in his foot was very annoying, but it probably was not that serious.

Qualifying went without a hitch and Qiang landed himself a spot in the front row next to Rinzi. Qiang had a love-hate relationship with Rinzi, but he thought they could work together.

When Qiang asked if they could work together, Rinzi ruffled his hair and said, "Sure thing, little dude. What's the plan?" Qiang had to fight back the urge to slap Rinzi, but he figured it was worth it if it helped them make it through to the Championship 4.

Qiang got separated from Rinzi after only a couple of laps, but he still thought he would be able to pull out a decent result.

Things were more or less going okay until Qiang pitted for tires and fuel. The tire carrier took a wrong step and reinjured his ankle when he was climbing over the wall. Qiang didn't know why the tire change was taking longer than usual, and he hollered impatiently at his crew, "Let's go, let's go, let's go!" The tire carrier cleared the old tires out of the way as quickly as he could manage, but he was stumbling awkwardly on his injured foot.

Qiang was annoyed that he'd lost precious time in the pits, but it was about to get worse. He got called back in for a penalty because NSSCRA officials said he was speeding on the pit lane in his eagerness to get back to the race. "That's bullshit!" Qiang yelled into his radio when he was informed about the penalty. The tire carrier was very embarrassed and Qiang was about ready to invent a new language just so he could cuss in it.

After the race, the tire carrier told Qiang how he had hurt his foot and apologized profusely. Qiang didn't have the heart to lay into his crewman, who had been with the team for years and was obviously sorry already -- but he kicked the crap out of a trashcan that happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. He told a gaggle of reporters, "I'm pissed off about what happened today, and I don't want to talk about it. It sucks losing time in the pits, I'm pissed at myself for making it worse after they got the tires on my car, and that really is all I'm going to say about it." -- and then refused to take any further questions.

Houzhi Chang walked the tire carrier over to the medical tent to get his foot checked out before they left the Garden. The medical staff said it wasn't a serious injury. The tire carrier just needed to take it easy for a couple of days and try not to put too much weight on his foot.

Holly's Delights 400 was a race that we knew all too well...and for good reasons at that. Now, The Garden of Radiance must host a race later than it ever has before...but one that is certainly important to everyone still in this Chase fight. The Garden at 6th Mile Road has blessed us with good fortune in the past, just look at last season for proof, but now it was going to bless someone with one of the greatest gifts it can give - a spot in the Championship 4 in Tundra Falls. Everyone knew that the 3 battles to come were going to be tough as all hell...but I don't think we expected what would go down today.

Let's get some things out of the way first. We only had 2 retirements in this entire race, Todd Underhill and Hong Baek-Man, while open charter Jixaka Motorai ended up P31 and Anna Star Joy Thanda Pwint Thinzar Nwe was the best non-charter in P19. Everyone else was in a bit of a scrap for position as both Chasers and non-Chasers alike fought it out for all those little points advantages anyone can get. Michael "Kaiser" Stefan (@Stefan07) doesn't really have much to fight for anymore, but P22 was still a good job for the Kaiser. HM was absolutely brilliant in this race and came home strongly, with Aurélia Karvonen ending up in P9 and Lam Chow-Cheung in P12. Maddison Riley-Jones (@MaddyRJ03) ended up being the perfect team player across this race as she came home in P6, but she had one goal in mind - helping Alfonso "Cyclone" Mercado (@AM64) in his ultimate goals. Starting from P4, Cyclone knew how to win here - in fact, it was he who claimed his first-ever win by winning at this track last season - and with that in mind, he knew he had to try and do it again. His race strategy developed from that fact as he tried to be both there and not - towards the front, but not really placing much attention upon himself. It would only be towards the final 10 laps that he made himself known, helped by MRJ, and it fucking worked - as he managed to keep to that inside line to take the flag over Chris Holmes and Jeremiah Brooke. His 3rd win in his career, his 2nd on the bounce in The Garden and one that grants him passage to Newmanistan at that. We were so fucking happy...which is completely understandable considering everything. The Cyclone will be going back to the Big One...and this time, he'll be all on his own.

Now our place is secure, the preparations will begin as we look to find out who our opponents on the final day will be. Now, everyone will be heading out to Kardashia in Saint Kanye for the 2nd battle - the Axis Hyper Clean 300 and the Kardashia Chadwick Dealers 400. We will be in the final act...but we need opponents to face. See you soon!

Sometimes, things just...work out. This weekend at The Garden of Radiance was one of those - so here's why Teamwork certainly made the dream work this weekend.

T2
Operation Golden Storm was now in full effect after Ilmari Pëkannen won the 2nd Act of the EverLong Chase and now that he had made it this far, two questions were starting to become more and more relevant - How far could he go? And would making it this far be enough to go to T1? With Kaarina Salo and Ilmari forced to lock out row 14 by themselves, they obviously knew that they had to work together in order to make up ground...and to be fair to them, it worked as Salo helped drag both of them into the Top 6. Ilmari now finds himself 3rd in the standings after that, so it's fair to say that teamwork...worked.

T1
T1's drivers started far apart, with Lam Chow-Cheung in P13 and Aurélia Karvonen in P36, but it would be around the halfway point that both of them ended up converging on each other naturally. After that, they simply got to work in collecting valuable data that would help them at the finish - as Karvonen came home in P9 and Lam in P12. It may not be flashy, but that result was a good performance overall by a team looking forward to next season's 3-car effort - which Marx will hope allows them to step up.

Kardashia Autoring, Kardashia, Saint Kanye
The morning of the Kardashia Chadwick Dealers 400

The good thing about working for Team Blue was that the team strongly believed in doing whatever it took to ensure the team, and its personnel, was comfortable in their surroundings and able to deliver results to the best of their abilities. It was because of that, that when the team hired Rinzi Zakhilwal, the team hired additional personnel from Rinzi’s old team to ensure he could communicate properly without any language barriers, and it was because of that belief that the team ordered modifications to both the Team Blue Center and the shop to accommodate his religious needs. And it was because of that belief that when Drake Stevenson asked Al Shelton and other Team Blue personnel for a psychiatrist to help Taylor Henderson deal with her anger issues, they were more than happy to oblige.

That psychiatrist, Shannon Baker, had been hired to travel with the team so she could help Taylor figure out her anger issues – the root causes of them, why she had developed those issues and how she could resolve them. After a lengthy discussion at home a few days before, Taylor had realized that yes, this was a problem, and yes, she needed to take care of it. The breaking point came when Drake told her that he was scared of what that anger problem was going to be for their child. She didn’t want to explode at their child.

So, the morning of the race in Kardashia, Taylor’s first session with Shannon took place in a back room of the Team Blue Center. It was there that Shannon tried to peer into Taylor’s background as to why she had developed those anger issues – was this learned behavior? Was she yelled at a lot as a child? Was this seen as acceptable?

“My dad yelled at everyone,” Taylor said. “If you didn’t do something exactly the way he wanted it, he’d yell at you. He’d berate you and he’d tell you how you were so terrible for not doing it his way. He’d fly off the handle all the time. And there were times where he’d be seething. Like, you’d wonder what you did wrong and he’d scare the hell out of you. I thought that’s how everyone acted. I thought that’s how everyone talked to everyone. And then I’d go to the tracks in the Hampton Cities, and everyone raced each other dirty. There were fights every week. I thought that’s what racing was.

“You know, I felt that’s what I had to do to survive,” Taylor continued. “And for most of my life, that was. I didn’t think I’d get to a place like NSSCRA where people weren’t so, you know, friendly to each other. I always figured that if someone was being so friendly to you, they had an ulterior motive. You know, they were up to no good and they were being real devious. I didn’t think it was possible for people to be that nice.”

“What do you mean?” Shannon asked.

“There’s these people – I don’t know if people are the right word to describe them, because I think they may be aliens or robots or something. I don’t know,” Taylor said. “They’re called Valentians. And they’re about the nicest creatures you’ll ever meet. They’re so outwardly good to you – and it’s always made me wonder why. A couple of years ago they booked some sort of festival when Drake was trying to coordinate some get-together for the drivers and it made me feel like, you know, that’s their true colors coming out.”

“Was it?” Shannon asked.

“I guess, I don’t know,” Taylor said. “We, I guess I’ve always never really trusted them. They just seemed so positive, too positive. I didn’t know or figure it was possible for anyone to be that nice to anyone. The way I was raised, I always figured it was a front for something.”

While Taylor was trying to get to the root cause of her anger, Team Blue’s three drivers were sitting on the pit wall at the Kardashia Autoring prior to the start of the race, away from the crews, which were finishing their work on the cars for the day, and away from fans who had already arrived at the track. It seemed that all three had grim looks on their faces. There were just a few races left – this one coming up, the dirt track on the Fhulghamous, and then Championship Sunday in Tundra Falls. But strangely, it seemed like those races were the kind of races that would play into Team Blue’s favor.

For starters, Drake wanted to win in Kardashia. He wanted to win in Saint Kanye, after he felt like he had been cheap-shotted out of a win at the hands of Jeremiah Brooke in Jalton. And then the next week was a dirt race – a kind of race that he felt he could really excel at, given his background racing on dirt. Either way, it seemed like one of those next two races were races that could play into his favor.

Chris, meanwhile, was facing an interesting dilemma. While the Chase rewarded drivers for winning races, Chris had gone winless all season but yet, if the final four cutoff had been last week, Chris – along with Rinzi and Drake – would have been in that final four. Chris so badly wanted to win a race – at the very least, to show everyone that he was capable of winning races, and that he was more than just Team Blue’s number three driver – behind, what it seemed, two number one drivers with Drake and Rinzi.

On top of that, Chris felt like he had something to prove. Years ago, he had been seen as Hapilopper’s driver of the future. A lot of that hype had been squandered, and much of that was his fault. He knew it was his fault. But here he was, with the possibility for it to come right in the biggest possible way, and with the possibility to become NSSCRA champion – something he figured would have been impossible a few years before. But it would be so much easier for him to put himself in that position if he could just win a race. Just one race. That’s all he wanted. He didn’t want to be known as the “NSSCRA champ that didn’t win a single race,” he wanted to be known as a NSSCRA champion, period.

There was so much ahead for Team Blue’s three drivers, and they needed to do something great on this day and a week later on the Fhulghamous. Their time was now.

Kardashia Welcomes You!

This week, the Nationstates Stock Car Racing Association will be visiting the Kardashia Autoring in colorful, vibrant St. Kanye, for the second race of the Chase's Round of Eight. On Saturday, the Everlong Contenders Series will be running the fifth annual Axis Hyper Clean 300, while a day later, Sunday, it's the Multiversal Cup Series taking to the track for the seventh edition of the Kardashia Chadwick Dealers 400.

The Kardashia Autoring is a tri-oval racetrack located in the heart of the Yeezie capital. It is 2.25 miles long, with turns banked 36°, frontstretch 16°, tri-oval 18°, and backstretch 10°. The track's lap record is 35.716 seconds, set by Skip Stiller, formerly of Glorious Free Republic Motorsports (now Gale Force Racing). Sherpalander Kai Qiang would win the first NSSCRA race here, the inaugural Kardashia Chadwick Dealers 400, on the way to a title during the eighth season. During the ninth (the second 400), it would be Cassadagan Stacie Houston capturing the checkered flag on the way to a third place points finish. During the tenth, Thea Alvarez recorded the first victory at the track by a Yeezie; she would move on to the Championship Four and finish as the runner-up in points behind only Anastasia Aye. In the eleventh, it was Clarissa Samantha getting the dub despite not being part of the Chase, and in the twelfth, Thea would become the first repeat winner at the track, earning herself a ticket to the finale once more (where she would ultimately finish fourth in points). Last season, the thirteenth, saw Chris Holmes take victory despite already being eliminated in the Chase - but now that he's still in contention, a repeat for him would mean a whole lot more.

The races of course aren't the only reasons to visit the Glorious Free Republic in the days to come. There are many side events and activities during the days leading up to them - let's take a look:

- Companies around the world who are involved or want to get involved in the NSSCRA (except Chadwick's competing automakers and Axis' competing cleaning product brands) are invited to set up booths and displays around the track. Already confirming are Chadwick, Axis, Pencurve/GGtech, Coleman & Thorne, Vylet, Hyde Medical Group, Charisma Cosmetics, Blood Moon Beer, Argo Petrol, Apocalypse Pest Control, AutoRealm and Mayhem.
- The ever-popular Tropicorp Pit Crew Challenge is expected to make an appearance.
- Free concerts from top local acts will be held at the infield from Monday to Friday night.
- Of course, Kardashia has many malls and stores for everything from Ajian cartoon figures to camera parts to sneakers. Hungry? Choose from well-known fast food joints such as SubHouse, Lhotse Love, Warner Hall, Fat Chuck's, or Masayabee; fancier restaurants with three to five stars; or catch one of the many food trucks driving about. Practice your tricks in bike and skate parks, or shoot some hoops with the locals in an outdoor basketball court. There are bars, bookstores, bowling alleys and laser tag places. The possibilities are f-cking endless.
- Please be reminded that in St. Kanye, smoking (tobacco, vapes, and the very legal marijuana) is not allowed in public places such as the track.

We wish the drivers, crew, staff, audience, and everyone else a great time in Kardashia!

Kai Qiang and Tsering Chu were soaking in a hot spring near Reykjavik, enjoying the eerily beautiful way the steam rose from the water. They had decided to stick around for a couple of days after the Holly's Delights 500 and just see the area. Iceland's volcanic terrain was something interesting that they didn't get to see everyday, and they weren't in any hurry to get to Kardashia. Saint Kanye's conspicuous wealth and sparkle had been alluring when they visited the first time, but the novelty had long since worn off. The country's forced and tokenistic style of "inclusiveness" got tiresome after a while, and neither Qiang nor Tsering felt at ease going out in public among the Yeezies. The people's unreserved enthusiasm for Ilya Tsunopin, without any second thought about his harassment of other drivers, made the Sherpalanders question how safe Kanyean cities actually were. They were not confident that they could trust official Kanyean statistics on the rates of sexual assault. If Ilya's cake stunt was considered no big deal, then what other kinds of bad behavior were going unreported or being given a pass? There were a few individual Kanyeans like Jeremiah Brooke and Naomi Hoff that they still thought were okay, but the nation as a whole was uncomfortable to visit.

So they spent an extra couple of days in Iceland and they went to a volcanic spring resort. Qiang was careful to always keep a towel draped over his shoulders, kneel down in the water so it came up to his shoulders, or keep his back against a rock so that nobody would see the old scars on his back. On some level, he knew it wasn't logical to worry so much about covering the scars on his back, but still walk around barefoot so everyone could see the burn scars on his legs. But sometimes people are not logical. The burn scars were from a crash that millions of people had already seen on TV. The older scars on his back were something few people knew about, and he wanted to keep it that way. Being careful how he moved made the visit a little less relaxing, but the springs were still a beautiful place and the warm water felt nice on his skin.

Tsering was relaxing in the warm water with her eyes closed and her head resting peacefully against a rock when Qiang tapped her on the shoulder and signed, "Hey, you remember how Brooke was saying he wanted to try driving a Chase Cutter?"

Tsering nodded.

"Well, I guess someone talked Nexus Racing into actually hosting an exhibition event alongside the Nimban Grand Prix, and I want to go," Qiang signed. "I know I should focus on NSSCRA, but it's stressing me out so much, I need something else to take my mind off it. If I make it through to the Championship 4, it will be a good way to clear my mind before the final -- and if I get knocked out, it'll be a good way to distract myself during that off-week so I don't just sit around being pissed off."

Tsering looked shocked and appalled. "You want to drive one of those things? We still don't know where they get the magic to power them!"

"They make it in the Wardship," Qiang replied. "I told you, Nimbans aren't human and their magic isn't like ours."

Tsering looked like she was about ready to slap Qiang. "Nimbans ARE human! I don't want to drive something that's powered with stolen magic, and I don't want you driving it either!"

Qiang sighed and slumped into the slightly sulfurous water, disappointed that Tsering still rejected his ideas about the Wardship. "Okay, you don't have to drive it if you don't want to," he signed. "But you can at least come along for the trip? Maybe you can look around and try to figure out how they are getting their Imagination, if you don't believe the official story."

Tsering was still skeptical about the idea of visiting the Wardship, but with a little more persuasion, she eventually agree to go.

Qualifying in Kardashia didn't go particularly well. Qiang thought he would be able to move up the field and finish higher than 27th, but it was not encouraging to start that far back. He kept to himself and avoided the media as much as he could get away with. He didn't want to talk about his clumsy qualifying attempt. He just wanted to do whatever he could do on race day and get the hell out of Kardashia. He was going to try to turn things around, but he was enough of a realist to see that he had an uphill battle ahead of him.

"Maybe Rinzi did the right thing taking that seat at Team Blue," Qiang signed to Tsering as they were settling into bed the night before the Kardashia Chadwick Dealers 400. "It seems like he's doing even better there than he did with AutoModi."

Tsering nodded, but she didn't pick up exactly what Qiang meant. "It's a good fit for him."

"Have you ever thought about driving for a foreign team?" Qiang asked.

"I've daydreamed about it before, but it wouldn't actually work," Tsering signed. "None of the good teams would have room on their roster for both of us, and one of us couldn't move abroad without the other."

Qiang thought about it for a moment. "I guess you're right."

Chase III/2, Part 1 - Kardashia!

Home of the Season X ECS and Season 13 MCS Champions

We will be in the Championship 4...and now, we must find our opponents. Jaguar Racing knew that they would be going to Tundra Falls in order to try and keep the golden armbands we all ware, but the rest of this grid cannot rest. The 3rd from the last race of this season is upon us after all, at the Kardashia Autoring in Saint Kanye, and everyone knew that shit was about to get real...so how did it go down?

Qualifying for the Kardashia Chadwick Dealers 400 would certainly be interesting as Stacie Houston claimed the pole over Rinzi Aogar Zakhilwal and our very own Michael "Kaiser" Stefan (@Stefan07) with the rest of JR ending up in the Top 20 - with Alfonso "Cyclone" Mercado (@AM64) in P10 and Maddison Riley-Jones (@MaddyRJ03) not too far away in P20. The HMs would be in a not-bad position either, with Lam Chow-Cheung in P17 and Aurélia Karvonen in P28, while the non-Charters making it in this time would be Anna Star Joy Thanda Pwint Thinzar Nwe (P21), Ashley Matthews (P29), Roosevelt Jenkins (P36), Wang Anjiao (P38), Roland Anson (P44) and Hong Baek-Man (P45). Pyotr Lavrentiev is doing double duty once more and starts from P18 while Goostavo the Migrating, the AOCAR driver from the Canadian Dominion, will start his debut NSSCRA event from P40.

Meanwhile, the Axis Hyper Clean 300 was going to provide the drama for the EverLong as Rockii Ezis claimed pole over Lotara Novorali and Edmund Flanders as Ilmari Pëkannen started from 10th, Kaarina Salo from 12th, Gongming Gao (@GG70) in P22, Axel Chase (@AxChase) in P24 and Alice Jepkosgei (@AJ96) way down in P32. The race itself saw only 3 retirements and a whole lot of drama but in the end, it would be a non-Chaser podium lockout as Colin Meredith took the win over Benjamin Rumlow and Lexi Patterson. AJ climbed way up to 10th, Ilmari was 12th, Gao made it up to P15, Salo was P20 and Chase was P22. With one race to go, Ilmari is 2nd in points and 14 points above the cut while Gao is 5th and only 9 behind Sage Caldwell. No matter what, it will be a dramatic final cutoff in Fhulgamous next week.

This race is going to be interesting no matter what, as 3 Team Blues and 2 Val Zs square off against a GMR and a Sherpa to find their way into the Championship 4. We will continue to fight for wins, of course, but who will be next to step up?

This is a re-post for context - it was submitted as a primary WGPC article for RP Credit in the WGPC Thread but cross-posting for those who are not reading both threads.

Toralmintii Drops NSSCRA Schedule to Focus on Colourworks Fix

Image

Reigning World Grand Prix Drivers Champion and WGPC's winningest driver of the modern era iBen Toralmintii has spoken for the first time about the Tropicorp Colourworks teams struggles to score points thus far during the World Grand Prix's 20th season. Through three races of the World Grand Prix Championship season, Toralmintii and rookie teammate Ji So-Yeong of Chromatika have combined for exactly zero points - the final team on the grid to have failed to place in the Top 10 in what has otherwise proven to be a well balanced Grand Prix field....While naturally there would have been little Toralmintii could have done to prevent their early exit at the Cocoabo Park Circuit, it didn't take long for pundits to begin to link Toralmintii's poor performance to start the World Grand Prix season with their decision to compete in another major motorsports series, the NSSCRA Multiversal Cup Series, at the same time. Toralmintii's race schedule has been packed between running three World Grand Prix Championship events, six races in the NSSCRA Multiversal Cup Series as well as the first round of iROS and the Rumble in the Rice Fields. Many suggest that Toralmintii just isn't focusing on the World Grand Prix Championship and that is why the results have been so poor.

Toralmintii Agrees. Despite not issuing a formal announcement on the matter, Toralmintii chose not to follow the NSSCRA Multiversal Cup Series when the series moved on to the Garden of Radiance to start the Round of 8 in the Chase for the Multiversal Cup, instead sending another former Tropicorp Racing Aelund driver, Juracai Klianiota, to compete instead. Klianiota would immediately take over driving duties of the #77 Team Tropicorp Colourworks Hybrid Dart in the Multiversal Cup Series, abandoning the remainder of the AOCAR Stock Car Series schedule and letting Toralmintii return to the Tropicorp Test Track to renew their focus on helping the Tropicorp Colourworks WGPC team figure out how to put a competitive car on the track and score points for the first time.... For iBen Toralmintii, there was certainly an admission that they may have been more focused on achieving that elusive NSSCRA Race Victory but now, realizing that the struggles of the Tropicorp Colourworks team were real, that NSSCRA dream would have to wait... at least for now.

For this season's race at Kardashia, Jeremiah Brooke will be paying tribute to Roman Gwinnett, the first and so far the only Xannerian driver to win in the Cup series.

Thea Alvarez will advertise Cocoa-bo's new banana chocolate milkshake. This is the third different flavor that has appeared on her car this season, it remains to be seen if the mint chocolate scheme she ran last season will again make an appearance, or if she will run yet another flavor in either of the next two races.

Image

AOCAR driver Goostavo the Migrating, from the Canadian Dominion, will make his Cup series debut with this scheme.

Image

Stacie Houston and Pyotr Lavrentiev will use the schemes that were first seen at the Pencurve Electronics 500.

WELCOME TO OXYRHYNCHUS!

Image
Presenting the Oxyrhynchus-Ring, home of the PTCCU Auto Loans 300 race of the Abanhfleft Racing Truck Series (ARTS),
and now the NationStates Stock Car Racing Association (NSSCRA) as well!

Oxyrhynchus is the third oldest settlement in the Colony of the Fhulghamous Peninsula, established on 16 August 2004, just one day after the establishment of the neighboring settlement of Marble Arch on the other side of White River. From a meager settlement with a population of just 103, Oxyrhynchus has grown into a city of its own right with a population of around 980,000. Alongside the cities of Marble Arch (population 1.2 million) to the west and Heliopolls (population 840,000) to the north, they form the conurbation known as the South Peninsular Tri-Cities (or SPTC for short), the second largest urban conglomeration on the Fhulghamous behind the Port Thimpodopoulos Metropolitan Area.

Oxyrhynchus is home to the Oxyrhynchus-Ring, a 0.699-mile long short tri-oval track that is currently the site of the PTCCU Auto Loans 300 race, sponsored by the Port Thimpodopoulos County Credit Union. The Oxyrhynchus-Ring has developed a reputation in the Abanhfleft Racing Truck Series (ARTS) as being a place where tire management is king because of the unique nature of the track's surface. The place in which the Ring was built is known for having an extremely abrasive type of sand that quickly erodes and wears down the asphalt, and despite efforts by the track owners to sweep the surface clear before every race, this very abrasive sand still shows up on the track on race day and plays a massive factor in chewing up tires. Even the hardest compound of tires available would be hard-pressed to survive at least 70 laps at the Oxyrhynchus-Ring, and any tire failures will be compounded by the walls surrounding the track itself. The Oxyrhynchus-Ring is not a very forgiving place, and incidents at this track could and did cost drivers points or even a place in the Chase, and teams that are barely getting financed could find themselves losing out on lots of money thanks to having to repair their cars because of the incidents that could happen here. Drivers beware! And, just to make it even tougher for everyone, the owners of the track have decided to take inspiration from both the HNE Half Mile in Hapilopper City and the Mviringo wa Dunia in Jiji la Ngao and not sweep away any of the sand from the track for this race weekend. In fact, they have decided to take more sand from the surroundings and dump it onto the track, turning the Oxyrhynchus-Ring from just a simple short track into a sand-covered short tri-oval. RIP everyone's tires.

Now, of course the race itself isn't the only thing that the drivers of NSSCRA will have to look forward to this weekend. The following is an abbreviated schedule for what the drivers should expect upon arriving in Oxyrhynchus for the second time in their NSSCRA careers.

Thursday Night Football: Marble Arch Freedom Fighters vs. Ogovlich Kings
The Fleftic National League of American Football (FNLAF) is once again in full swing by the time the NSSCRA circus arrives at the O-Ring, and once again the Freedom Fighters won't have time to invite the drivers for another round of fun and games at the November 30 Stadium since they're focused on the league. Instead, NSSCRA drivers are invited to watch the Freedom Fighters in action at the November 30 Stadium for the Thursday night game against the Ogovlich Kings.

Friday Night: Welcome dinner hosted by Governor-General Petrarchos Kulbano
Governor General Petrarchos Kulbano will once again host a welcome dinner for NSSCRA's drivers and crew, although this time he has been successfully dissuaded from discussing anything about the "ancient astronaut theory." Instead, the welcome dinner will be a simple affair with dishes from Greek, Arabic, and Basque cuisine (the aforementioned ethnicities are the most common on the Peninsula). A new dress code has also been implemented for the welcome dinner: the men will now have to wear the barong tagalog, while the women will wear the baro't saya.

Image
Men are expected to wear the barong tagalog (left) while women are to wear the baro't saya (right) for the welcome dinner with the Governor General this Friday night.

Late Friday Night: Karaoke Night
The action moves from Oxyrhynchus to nearby Marble Arch, where popular local barbecue hangout Ye-Pub, an all-you-can-eat meat buffet based around K-Pop (Kanyean Pop) has once again graciously opened its doors to NSSCRA in order to give the drivers and the crew a place to unwind before getting into the sharp end of the race weekend with the practice, qualifying, and race sessions.

Saturday Afternoon: Qualification for the Visit the Fhulghamous! 200 Presented by the Fhulghamous Peninsula Tourism Council and the PTCCU Auto Loans 300
This is the time that the NSSCRA Multiversal Cup Series and Everlong Contenders series determines who will qualify where for both races. The Everlong Contenders' Series and their field of 37 runners will have their qualifying session first, and then it will be the turn of the 46 drivers in the Multiversal series to take to the sand-covered tarmac to determine who will qualify on pole and who will have to sit out this race.

Saturday Night: Visit the Fhulghamous! 200 Presented by the Fhulghamous Peninsula Tourism Council — NSSCRA Everlong Contenders Series Support Race
The Visit the Fhulghamous! 200 will be the third time that a night race will be held at the Oxyrhynchus-Ring. This race will be run across 287 laps to make up 200 miles of the race and will be the race that determines who among the eight drivers still in the Everlong Chase will survive to fight for the title at the Proving Grounds 500 at the end of the season, and which four will have to think about having to do it all over again next season. The winner of the Visit the Fhulghamous! 200 will also get the chance to participate in the Cup Series race as one of the two open charters available for the race. The other open charter driver will be announced by Urotovsky-Gatutin Motorsports in due time.

Sunday Afternoon: PTCCU Auto Loans 300 — NSSCRA Multiversal Cup Series Race
And here it is. This is the race that tire manufacturers watch to see their creations die and lose effectiveness and grip much earlier than they always anticipate. 46 of the multiverse's best stock car drivers take to the track and see how many times in 300 laps they have to pit for new tires on this extremely abrasive surface. A purse of 325,000 new penenks (300 for the laps run and 25 for the number of years the Fhulghamous has been a colony of Abanhfleft) awaits the winner, along with a 3-foot (1 meter) long gold-plated replica of the Quimbaya airplane (the official award for the winner of the PTCCU Auto Loans 300) to be presented to the winner by Governor-General Petrarchos Kulbano himself. (With the current exchange rate pegged at 4.5 new penenks = 1 NSD, the winner's purse is expected to amount to only 72,222.22 NSD)

WHAT ELSE IS THERE TO DO IN OXHYRHYNCHUS?
The Oxyrhynchus-Ring is not the only place of note in the whole of the South Peninsular Tri-Cities. There are other places that fans can come and visit before and even after the race itself.

THE MARBLE ARCH — Located in southeastern Marble Arch
Image
The Marble Arch in all its glory.

This is the Marble Arch that gave the city that was built around it its name. The arch itself has been standing in the middle of this Fhulghamousian beach when Fleftic explorers and colonists landed on this place, and it only seemed logical to name a settlement around this marvelous piece of architecture. Evidence points to the arch being built around the years 1889 to 1901, although the purpose for the building of the arch remains unknown, as is the reason why it was built here in the first place. There is a one-meter circular cordon around the Marble Arch to protect it from damage that could be caused by inquisitive and "nosy" tourists.

NOVEMBER 30 STADIUM — Located in eastern Marble Arch
The November 30 Stadium, located across the White River from the Oxyrhynchus-Ring, is the home stadium of the Marble Arch Freedom Fighters of the Fleftic National League of American Football (FNLAF). The name of the stadium marks the date when the team was first formed (30 November 2009), and inside the stadium is a museum showcasing the history of the Freedom Fighters, as well as a gift shop where fans can purchase Freedom Fighters merchandise and memorabilia. There are also guided tours of the stadium available at hourly intervals starting from 9 AM up to 6 PM.

LUXUR AUTOMOBILE PLANT - Located in southern Heliopolis
Heliopolis is the site of the largest automobile manufacturing plant in the entirety of Abanhfleft. At 7 million square feet, while there are definitely a lot more factories in the world which are larger than the Heliopolis factory, the plant makes up for this in terns of vehicles produced, with an estimated 2,100 Luxur cars and 900 Minchev and UrGa trucks rolling off the line every day. This plant is currently the site of production for Luxur's latest car, the Byzant, which is also the basis for Urotovsky-Gatutin Motorsports' stock car challenger in the NSSCRA Multiversal Cup and Everlong Contenders Series. There are two guided tours of the plant every day, starting at 10 AM and 3 PM respectively.

The Valentians – Race 22 – Multiversal: Tropicorp 500, Tropicoast Beach Course, Tropicorp (Superspeedway); Everlong: Tropicorp Racing Supply 250, Tropicoast Beach Course, Tropicorp (Superspeedway)

Anastasia “De Sierlijke en Vrij High Valkyrie ov Valentine Z” Freya Valentina Ada. Jolin Annelijn Caitlin Trijntje Crystal Clarice Constance Judy Voi. D. Nexitros Annile Teresa Thida Myat Yadana Aye was riding off from the high of that podium finish, one with Ongmu and Lam. For this time, however, Anastasia did it once again, standing on the podium, though at the 3rd place. On top of that, the two other drivers on the podium were different, with Thea and Stacie taking the 1st and 2nd places respectively. They clustered together for the last few laps as usual, with Anastasia being the one to help push Thea and Stacie along to the best of her ability. That is not to say that they could not done it without her; Thea and Stacie are more than capable drivers who can hold their own weights. It is, however, a common understanding that the Valentians and Yeezies will do their best to help one another if they come across each other on the track. “For today, a lot of things did align up, and I am more than happy for that,” Anastasia commented to the interviewers and reporters, usual business so far, “However, of course, it also goes without saying that we have a very capable bunch of Valentians as our respective pit crews. That contest that we did, I am happy that we finished first, and perhaps the first team to win in 2 seasons at this point, right? My grandest and happiest congratulations to the everyday Valentians for marvelous performances. Clarissa’s team did little bit of a mistake that earned them a penalty, and Holly’s team fumbled a little, but there’s always room for improvement!”

Chief Aviator Gwen Tracer Hepburn “Fate of Existence and the Omniverse” Ellen Trixie Caitlin Foxworthy Avril Verlene Eveline Celinda Sammy Doris T-Rev Oxton Arielle Lindall Leslie Vitesse Allison’s 7th, along with Clarissa doing an 17th, was still enough for the two of them to proceed onto the next bracket of the race. The two Valentians gave each other a hug, Clarissa being especially more fond of it, and gave Gwen a gentle pat on the back. “We are still in, Clarissa!” Gwen exclaimed, excited for what is to come for the next three races – one in particular that is going to be effectively in Valentine Z, just in Holly’s dimension and thus technically in G6MR’s territory. “Let’s try to do our best for these next few races! It’s the final stretch,” Gwen added on, much to Clarissa’s excitement, and even from Anastasia herself. “Hey, I might not be in this season, but I will still do my best to help you guys,” she gave the two of them a hug as well. “Good luck, my friends!” she ended it off, then going back to the drop ship, presumably for a bit of a post-race exercise in her own personal gym; Anastasia always has quite a lot of endurance, after all.

Gwen has so far held up her end of the deal and made sure that the Valentians would not be subjected to especially the most devastating of time paradoxes or space-time rips. She has reassured (and acted upon) that whatever threats that will come in the future will be dealt with swiftly, having been eliminated 50 million of such threats if her word is of any weight and indication. Of course, there were subjects such as Valentine Z’s history, one where the Valentians wondered as to if she could change the timeline in such a way that the people that died in a nuclear bombardment can be saved. If it works, Gwen would have said so. However, she has not just yet, so there is nothing much in that way of things. Moving on to another topic, Gwen’s form of vacation – at least, her idea of a good time – tends to get other people, even the Valentians, a little worried at times, even with everything aforementioned.

There was already one incident with Gwen causing a stir in the small and governmental agencies, in the form of a wrapper that she had left behind while visiting the Pyramids in one of the parallel Earths. That was, already, more than enough for the people on that parallel world to be worried. For Gwen, having spent many lifetimes and countless upon countless of eternities, it was more than understandable that she would be a little unhinged, though not as insane and deranged, thankfully so. For Gwen, she simply love the feeling of total power and control, in the realms of other parallel worlds and outside of races and sports events. “I don’t cheat, but hey, giving the other worlds a new meaning of horror and terror? I am kind of in for that!” she would remark to the Valentians occasionally, especially towards the motorsports drivers, her IBC team, and many more along the way. “Oh, case in point, there’s one.”

Her idea of a vacation would turn into a “sour” one, right when she was arrested and taken into police custody of one of the many, many parallels of Earth – one that is unrelated to any of the countries that the Valentians play their sports matches in, nor the ones where Valentine Z happens. In other words, a perfect getaway for her, except at that moment, she was sitting in the police station with handcuffs on her hands. “Well, standard stuff, I suppose,” she thought to herself, her voice still cool as ever, and not a single ounce of being intimidated by the police, not even the good cop-bad cop method working for her. “So… fellas,” she started off, trailing and using her words slowly, “I guess you are all here because- what, I am a public nuisance? Officers, I swear, I was not dressed up inappropriately-“ one of the officers interrupted her, putting his hand firmly on the table, “Save your breath, Miss,” he hissed, “We don’t care about your looks, that’s not what we are here for.” Gwen acted dumbfounded, “Ohh, what was I here for, then? Running the red light? Ohhhh, I ran across one the other time while I was on my way to the casino. No, wait. Fill me up again?” “Miss, we are part of a private security firm,” another office voiced out, “And the shit you pulled at a casino today was… unacceptable.” Just then, a bunch of well-dressed men joined in with the officers to interrogate Gwen. Only “problem” was, these men were all in a typical professional criminal outfit, and that included the weapons – from a pistol to even an assault rifle, and of course, a heavy flashlight and a knife on full display.

“Ohhhhhh right. Organized crime goons. Haha, that is classic,” Gwen sneered and rolled her eyes, much to the displeasure and annoyance of her interrogators. “Nice clothes though. Hey, remind me to get some for myself-“ she was once again interrupted, this time by one of the goons shoving and holding her down on the table, and another forcing her fingers open, knife at the ready. “Shut your disrespectful mouth!” one of them – a lieutenant, with all the perception of power, yelled. “You won’t be making these snarky-ass remarks once we are done chopping your finger.” In any other world and possibility, they would have someone who is readily going to let go of their bodily functions, afraid and terrified beyond all measure. However, this was Gwen Tracer Allison Oxton. “Man, not my favorite pinky!” she exclaimed sarcastically. It was quickly reaching boiling point, and thus, the knife landing on her.

It was supposed to cut and saw through it, but as far as anyone is concerned, they might as well be acting to cut her finger off with a paper drawing of a knife. No matter the stabs and cuts, Gwen’s finger was still intact, good as new. There was much agitation amongst the group, as they then started getting rough towards Gwen. “You are not stabbing hard enough! Come on, let me show you how it’s done!” one of the bigger guys bellowed, grabbing the knife and stabbing Gwen on her palms, followed by smacking it with their flashlight. Much to their amazement – and perhaps a bit of discomfort – they noticed that their knife became a bit dull, and the flashlight got new dents made onto it. It was normal, because after all, they smacked Gwen hard. The problem was – Gwen was still standing, and it was not in the “She took a lot of beatings and was still persistent.” Instead, she was still healthy as ever.

The criminals soon found themselves being in a more distressed state – as they say, the tables have turned – as Gwen stood up and, in one quick motion, snapped the handcuffs that were holding her, as well as kicking the big guy across the room, the man landing with a thud but still conscious and alive, and all the blood still inside him perhaps save for a wee bit of internal bleeding. “I’m sorry about your poor chap over there,” Gwen said calmly and rather elegantly, and in one of those posh British accents that are common in movies and shows, “But for the love of all things good, can we please make peace and stop trying to hurt me? I mean, you can try killing me, you can possibly do that!” As of on her cue, and afraid but determined, the criminals lined her up against the wall of an interrogation room, walked to the other side, and fired a volley of shots, in hopes that they will kill the weird woman.

The horror suddenly dawned on them. There was no way that she was able to escape that volley of bullets. Sure, they could argue that she was wearing body armour, but what about her head? They fired several lethal shots at the head too, just because they were getting tired of her snarky remarks. It was not simply the fact that she survived the ordeal. Rather, after the last shot has been fired, they found that the bullets that were shot were all placed neatly on the interrogation table, even arranged down to the size. It’s more than official that they were crept out at that moment, and they started to wonder who or what in the actual hell that they came across. “Hollow points? Oh dear, what poor form,” she remarked nonchalantly. It was also the fact that she went from being lined up at the wall to leaning on the table, admiring and looking at the bullets closely. “What… what in the fuck are you?” the lieutenant asked, his voice visibly shaken. Gwen also noticed that the rest of his goons were also a little taken aback, all of them looked like they saw a ghost. To them, Gwen very well could have been a ghost, with all her impossible feats.

“Well, to start off, I am a person just like you guys,” she said calmly, a second later with all the pistols and other weapons beside her; she liberated them of their weapons, but otherwise, she let them be and did not strike back at them. She did not need to hit them back, this was not out of some revenge towards these guys; no, she simply wanted to toy with them for her own amusement, and it was going well. “Nice set of guns though, I can tell that you all maintained it. I really mean that. Now… I will have to confess – I did cheat in your casino, but it was never money that I am going after. No, you can take it back,” she continued on, throwing one bullet to the wall with such a speed and time manipulation that it smacked the wall with a speed faster than a gun could. A few of them started to break down, wanting to go out but to no avail. “Now, now, please, allow me to finish. I locked the door from the outside, like just now, hehe.” The faces were getting pale, “Where was I? Oh yes. I don’t want your money, or anything. Hell, I won’t tell anyone, that’s a pinky promise. I cheated, yes, and you checked the footage yourself, right? Now, why would you think that? Was I counting cards? That was legal from what I heard. Was I wearing computers? Well, I mean… yeah, I am wearing wires. But let’s just say that rather than peeking at cards or computers, I can see a little bit of what is ahead, if you catch my drift. Review that footage again.” The mob – broken to a near-sobbing state even for hardened criminals – were watching the security footage. Several viewings indeed indicated that Gwen did not cheat, at least by the conventional methods if her words are anything to go by. “So how do you draw that conclusion? Before I even confess that I cheated through means that you don’t even know of? Hmm, no. You want your money. You always want the house to win.” She clapped her hands slowly, then went back to her serious and snarky demeanour, “Well, you know – a lot of these are money of other people. Sure, they are billionaire suckers, but do you really, really want to be going after the slot machine grannies?” They shook their heads profusely, still petrified with horror. “Good, good. At least you have a bit of conscience. Now, promise me that this will never be leaked.”

They all promised, which seems more than enough for Gwen. “All right, then!” She unlocked the door with the flick of a finger. “Well, I will keep the weapons, and don’t hit your head on the way out!” A few of them were still frozen, including the large guy who just got up from the kick that she got from her, “Go on, I don’t have all day!” she started shouting, to which they started shuffling out towards the door. The door would open back to the casino, and it would be none the wiser. Heck, Gwen even promised that they will not have any repercussions, and told them that they can let everyone else know that she got killed or hurt very badly – to give them a good rep instead of ending up as some plaything for a cosmic entity. The door, however, felt wrong to them. Still, that might just be the horror show that they have encountered. The corridor, the lighting, that odd mop at the side, it all felt normal. They went on along the corridor, and eventually, to another door that would lead them to the main floor of the casino. To their terror, however, they saw that the door lead them to a vast open space, along with many other smaller corridors and maze-like structures. In other words, Gwen lead them to a trap, one that looks like a certain horror space consisting of large empty spaces. The usual associated entities would not be around, but that was not needed for them.

They turned around in horror, somehow befuddled that she would betray them. “Well, too bad!” Gwen said with a rather cheerful voice, “I mean, I did pinky promised, but you know, I like to pretend that the pinky finger got cut off by you lot. And so, I cannot make a promise! No, I won’t make promises with my left pinky. Now, please excuse me, I have a NSSCRA race to do, and I am already taking too much of time with this, you know? Goodbye. Good luck.” Their fates have been sealed. There was no way out, and it would be a matter of time before they ran out of food and water and other necessities. On top of that, Gwen took their weapons. Cries of men echoed through the maze.

The Gardeners – Race 22 – Multiversal: Tropicorp 500, Tropicoast Beach Course, Tropicorp (Superspeedway); Everlong: Tropicorp Racing Supply 250, Tropicoast Beach Course, Tropicorp (Superspeedway)

Anna “De Eeuwige Vreugde” Caitlin Madeline Brigitte Priscilla Teresa Mavis Thanda Pwint Thinzar Nwe, Tweede Verpersoonlijking van De Sierlijke und Verwonderlijk Feline Utopia ov Valentine Z was helping out her literally cool friend to set up a couple of things for the upcoming race in G6MR. This was a welcome pace for Holly, since the recent race in Tropicorp was not exactly that special for her, and on top of having to deal with the fumbling that her team went through on the pit stop competition. It was certainly not the most important thing, and Holly definitely didn’t give any grief to her team; instead, she only gave them advice and wanted to make sure that they are getting enough rest and motivation, along with the necessary training that they might need. The finish was also relatively average, but so long as she did not get DNF’ed, that is all Holly cared about, at least for this season. Anna touched Holly on her hands, gently squeezing them and looking at her in the eye. “Don’t worry, there’s always the next season!” Anna said gleefully, “Besides, this is a good time to help you out with the upcoming race at your place! It is a special day after all!” Anna smiled again, much to the appreciation and gratitude from Holly; after all, it’s always great for her as well to have a friend who knows how to smile and to be optimistic, without overly doing it. Sure, a lot of the Valentians – especially Clarissa – have been nothing but nice to her and she appreciated that. With Anna, however, she felt that the two have developed a bit more closer feelings and friendship with one another, especially because they have been working together under the same team. “Thanks, Anna!” she said in turn, wanting to give her a hug, but instead embraced and held each other’s hands for a little bit more before going back to Valentine Z.

The portal was established, the dropship lead a string of planes trailing behind them, and soon everyone was on Valentine Z, all of them going through the portal just fine. Anna was sitting together with Holly, the two having a chat about what to get and to do in their own country. “Well, I have been thinking,” Holly started off, “Maybe a bit more colors this time? Last course, I was told that the place is a little too blue for everyone’s taste. It’s okay, of course, I mean, I respect their opinion! So, more colors!” Anna nodded with a remark of her own, “Well, you can never have enough colors! I think those soft lights you do are amazing as always! Maybe just don’t point it at the roads, lest it blind the drivers.” “Mhm, that is a good point!” Then it went to a few other things, such as the temperature and setting of the place, the general theme – Anna suggested a more Christmas-esque wonderland, and everything else. But then came the more important question, one that Holly felt that she was already behind schedule on that. “Now then,” she started, “There is also the matter of gifts that I want to give to those who placed podium in my place!”

Anna agreed with the idea as well, though having seen Holly’s powers for more than decades at this point, she too was aware that they have to be careful of who to give what to. For instance, the little Holly that was given away was already toeing on the line of being dangerous, because while Holly trust the sentience and innocence of her little creation, there was still a chance of the little light being accidentally giving people frostbites if mishandled. Still, with no complaints from anyone so far, it would seem that her little self is enjoying a time of her own. “Maybe this time, not too extravagant, but also things very magical, you know?” Holly remarked to herself and to Anna, “There will have to be six distinct gifts. Or maybe eight! Six for the two podiums, and two more for pole positions!” Anna was once again going along with it, not the one to turn down an idea. “That’s all good!” she said, thumbing through a particular short children’s book – one in particular about magical beings and fairy tales, “I think we can get a few ideas from these books! And as it turns out – I definitely have an idea that I believe might just work well!”

Kardashia Autoring, Kardashia, Saint Kanye
The Kardashia Chadwick Dealers 400 – about midway through the race
Chris Holmes was just taking his time out on the track. He figured he had a car that could take him to victory – or at least, put him in a prime position to contend for a final four spot for the NSSCRA championship. But he knew he couldn’t win it now. He knew he could lose it now, but he couldn’t win it. So instead of moving his way to the front, Chris calmly studied other drivers in the lead pack – to see who he could work with, who he would have a hard time with, and who he figured would cause a large accident by being too overambitious. He knew there would be a time to set up an alliance with a driver or two and make his move to the front, but that time was not now.

As he rounded his way through turns one and two, Chris glanced briefly in his rear view mirror to see the huge snarling pack of cars behind him, then towards the windshield to see the few cars ahead of him. He was doing really well for just biding his time, and he figured that maybe he could bail out, or he could just let himself get shuffled back through the pack. But that’s when disaster struck.

Chris could feel a tap on his rear bumper. It was a gentle tap, not a strong one. He didn’t know who tapped him; he didn’t care, either. It wasn’t important. What was important though was that it was strong enough to send his car spinning as the field headed down the backstraight. Chris tried to gather the car back up, but the car wouldn’t turn back. He looked to the right, then to the left and realized this impact was going to hurt. He took his hands off the wheel, figuring such an impact would break his hands if he kept them on the wheel.

**THUD!!**

Everyone could hear the impact of car meeting wall across the Kardashia Autoring. The impact sent the car airborne for a brief second before coming to rest hard on the pavement near the inside wall. To put it kindly, Chris’s car was demolished. But fortunately, Chris wasn’t. Physically, he was just fine, and physically, he could get out of the car. He indicated as much as he threw the window net down, indicating to safety crews that he was alright and they didn’t need to rush to him. But emotionally, he was every little bit of a trainwreck.

You see, Chris had viewed this as his best shot to win the NSSCRA championship, even without winning a race. All he needed was to stay up front, keep running well, and it seemed like he’d have a real good chance at winning that NSSCRA championship that everyone said he’d win years ago. But now he sat in a demolished racing car, with safety crews making their way towards his car, and with championship hopes that seemed all but lost.

Lawrence Malloy yelped over the radio, asking Chris if he was OK. Chris responded with a very curt and very short “fine” – almost as if to say “I’m fine but I don’t want to talk right now.”

When the safety crews got to Chris’s car, they got to Chris sitting in his car, looking straight out the windshield shaking his head. Chris looked at them, took his helmet off, unfastened the harnesses and climbed out of the car. He said nothing to the safety crews as he walked away from the car and towards the ambulance, for the mandatory trip to the infield care center.

The trip to the care center felt like it took forever. Chris sat off to the side in the ambulance and stared out a window, watching the activity in the infield pass by, watching fans enjoy themselves. He stared out at the track, watching cars circle the track under caution, the race going on without him in it. The pain that etched in Chris’s face, watching the race go on without him, was an emotional hurt, a feeling that this long-awaited championship would pass him by for one more year.

The examination in the infield care center seemed like it took forever, too, and it seemed like Chris was getting angrier and angrier as the examination took place. It wasn’t as if he was being singled out or anything, or as if he was being mistreated; this was just a routine examination required for all NSSCRA drivers after getting involved in an accident. But it was more than just the examination. It was the fact his championship hopes had slipped away again. His best chance to win the NSSCRA title. Sure, everyone talked about Drake Stevenson and Rinzi Zakhilwal – the two leaders of Team Blue, and everyone seemingly forgot about Chris Holmes, the odd man out, the quiet one at the team if you could believe it, but he was still there and he was still producing results, and until just a few minutes before, he had a very real shot at the title. But now it was seemingly gone.

As the examination went on, Chris finally reached his breaking point.

“Alright, Mr. Holmes…”

“ALRIGHT NOTHING!” Chris snapped. “I’M FUCKING SICK AND TIRED OF THIS SHIT! I’M GOD DAMN FINE, CAN’T YOU FUCKING SEE THAT? I WANT TO GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE AND I WANT TO GO THE FUCK HOME! STOP WITH THESE GOD DAMN BULLSHIT TESTS, I’M FUCKING FINE AND I DON’T WANT TO BE HERE! JUST LET ME GO HOME!”

“Mr. Holmes, we’ve got one more test to do and we’ll let you go,” the doctor said calmly, not losing his composure even as it seemed like Chris wanted to throw him through a wall.

Chris shook his head, realized he had just exploded on the wrong person and tried to regain his composure as the last examination was completed. When it ended, he was dismissed, he put his firesuit back on and stormed out of the infield care center, past a cadre of NSSCRA beat reporters wanting to get a word with him, past some of the many TV crews from all over the multiverse on site to cover the race, and even past Team Blue’s own PR staff. Chris just didn’t want to be there and he wanted to get away from the public eye, at least for this moment.

He stormed from the infield care center back to the Team Blue Center, where he said nothing to anyone. He refused to speak to reporters, refused to acknowledge autograph seekers and even refused to speak to his own team. He locked himself in a room for the rest of the race, wanting time to himself, away from the rest of the world.

Kardashia:

Kai Qiang was avoiding the media after another not-good-enough race, but Tsering and Rinzi were amicably hanging around taking questions after both finishing in the top 5. "It's nice that we are getting good results, but I wish I could have had these results a couple of weeks ago when I really needed them," Tsering signed. She concluded with a little shrug.

"It's tough to watch what happened to Chris today, and I'm very thankful he was not hurt," Rinzi said with the help of a translator. "After that, Drake and I knew it was up to us to get some good results for Team Blue. We did exactly what we needed to do today, but the season is not over yet. So I can't relax quite yet haha."

When Qiang was away from the cameras and the crowds, he confided to his crew chief, "It's so frustrating! People think I'm supposed to be the best driver in NSSCRA, like I'm the one to beat, but it feels like it's been a long time since I lived up to that."

Houzhi Chang pulled him into a big bear hug and said, "It's okay. It's hard to live up to all that."

"Every year, I win a race or two, but then we get into the Chase and I just fuck something up," Qiang went on, as he slumped into his burly crew chief's arms.

"If it was that bad, people would stop expecting you to win," said Chang. They let each other go and stepped back. "We've still got a chance turn things around in Oxyrhynchus. We just need to figure out the best way to manage our tires on that sand..."

"Don't drive like Grandpa Wang," Qiang replied sarcastically. He was referring to Dinggu Wang's habit of starting races too aggressively so he led laps early, but sometimes fell back when his tires wore out.

Chang chuckled a little. "Yeah, use hard tires, don't drive like Wang."

It was the day after the Kardashia Chadwick Dealers 400 and Kai Qiang and Tsering Chu and their crews were on a plane on the tarmac at the airport. They were waiting in line for their turn to use the runway. Other planes were taxiing around the airport, and a big jet with a bright purple and lime tail was firing up its engines at the start of the runway, getting ready to take off.

Qiang had decided it was a good time to check in with his other wife and see how she was doing.

"What do you mean you don't want to go?" he asked. Mendok had just told him that she did not want to go to the Nimban Grand Prix.

"I don't want to go," said Mendok. "The Wardship is creepy."

"Mendok, we're going to a race track," said Qiang. "They have the Nimban Grand Prix every season of WGPC. I think someone would notice by now if it wasn't safe."

"Yeah, but the Wardship is still creepy," said Mendok. "And traveling with the kids is a pain in the butt. Do you really want Cammy running around loose in a country full of Imagination?"

Qiang remembered what it was like being on a plane with Cammy while she squirmed and yelled and generally bounced off the walls for 15 hours straight. As much as he hated to admit it, Mendok was right. Traveling with the kids was a pain in the butt, and he did not want to find out what Cammy would do if she got her hands on Imagination.

Chase III/2, Part 2 - HOLY MOLY!

Home of the Season X ECS and Season 13 MCS Champions

The Kardashia Chadwick Dealers 400 was the 2nd battle of the 3rd Act of the Cup Series Chase saga and while from our perspective, the drama had already reached a glorious crescendo, everyone else in this battle still had a war to wage. It felt weird being a passenger this late in the campaign for a very good reason but at the same time, we couldn't let our guard down either...so how would this one go down? Where will the cards lie with 1 race left to go in this 3rd Act?

Well this race, here in the Kardashia Autodring, would undoubtedly produce a hell of a lot of talking points as Chris Holmes was the most high-profile of the 3 retirements in this race (with no offence to Centur Tiones or Hong Baek-Man) as his Chase hopes seemed to end up as mangled as his #8 car ended up. For everyone else, we certainly had some interesting stories to tell Pyotr Lavrentiev ended up as the best open charter in P26, Goostavo the Migrating came home in P36 and Anna Star Joy Thanda Pwint Thinzar Nwe was, once again, the best non-Charter in P21. HM's day was a bit more low-key, with Aurélia Karvonen in P27 and Lam Chow-Cheung in P13...but the real drama would be more on our side of the paddock. Michael "Kaiser" Stefan (@Stefan07) would end up in P15, Alfonso "Cyclone" Mercado (@AM64) would turn into the wingman this time in P6 as it became increasingly clear that Maddison Riley-Jones (@MaddyRJ03) wanted to go for this one. MRJ seemed to be in her element all day today, a sight we rarely see from the #03, and so it came as no surprise that Maddy took this win over Tsering Chu and Stacie Houston in an all-Female, non-Chaser podium. It's nice to see that MRJ can still experience these joys...and we celebrated a 2nd win on the bounce like the TJUN-ians we are. JR mean business...and everyone knew it.

The 3rd Act must decide 3 more entrants...and we will do that with familiar races with a twist. Just like last season, the final cutoff event is in the Fhulghamous Peninsula Colony of Abanhfleft with the Oxyrhynchus-Ring hosting both the Visit the Fhulghamous! 200 in the ECS and the PTCCU Auto Loans 300 in the MCS. Just one small change - we'll be riding on dirt instead of pavement. How important will this cha get be in this battle? Only time will tell...see you next week!

The media room, Oxyrhynchus-Ring, Oxyrhynchus, Fhulghamous Peninsula Colony, Abanhfleft
The start of race weekend
“We would like to welcome right now, Chris Holmes, driver of the #8 Mel’s Ultra-Mart Preston Super Skychief for Team Blue.”

With a downcast look on his face, Chris Holmes slowly made his way to the stage for his weekly media availability. It was clear he didn’t want to be there, facing down the NSSCRA traveling media, those reporters from across the multiverse that traveled from place to place to cover NSSCRA races, those that knew each other and the drivers on a first-name basis, and vice versa. Chris figured that, right now, he would have much rather spoken to these reporters about the best place to find a good bite to eat or the best deal on an ice cold beer rather than what he was about to talk to them about.

“Chris, what has this week been like since the accident in Kardashia?” one reporter asked.

Chris stared at the reporter and thought about the question. His first reflex was to give the snarkiest answer he knew, but then he stopped, and allowed himself to think about it.

“It’s not been fun,” Chris said. “I mean, thank God for Angie and little Zack because otherwise I think I might have gone crazy. They keep me from completely losing my mind. I probably would have cried myself to sleep every single day after what happened in Kardashia. This has been the most miserable week I’ve had since rejoining Team Blue, and it’s all because I feel like I blew it. I feel like I’ve lost my shot at winning the title, and I’ve lost my best ever shot, too. I probably shouldn’t be upset like this but… you know…”

Chris sat there at the stage of the media room and thought about what had happened.

“I’ve never had a shot this good at winning a championship,” Chris said sadly. “I think that’s all I want to do now. I want to bring home that big colorful trophy. I want little Zack to have a big trophy to play with. I want to be known as the best, that you know, I could live up to all the hype people put on me years ago. I don’t know if I’ll ever have this again, and that, you know… it upsets me.”

“Why don’t you think you’ll ever have a chance like this again?” another reporter asked.

“Because… you know, this year we caught lightning in a bottle,” Chris said. “We’ve got the best combination we’ve ever had. Myself, Drake, Rinzi, best leadership we’ve ever had, best equipment we’ve ever had, you know, this was our year. Next year, everyone’s going to catch up to us, and we’re going to be extremely lucky if we have this same kind of success next year. That’s why it stings so bad. This was my best shot. I mean, the only way I can keep this kind of shot is if I win this weekend. That’s the only way I can have a shot at winning.”

Not long later, Drake Stevenson took the stage, where he was grilled about a number of topics. A report had come out about Taylor Henderson viciously assaulting Hap O’Loppa at his Capital Stadium apartment, so Drake, naturally, was asked about that – but not interrogated. The NSSCRA media hated Hap O’Loppa too.

“Not much more that needs to be said,” Drake said. “He overstepped his bounds, she snapped and he got his ass kicked. You don’t ever question a woman’s fidelity like that. Ever.”

“Are you concerned about any legal ramifications?” a reporter asked.

“Yeah,” Drake said. “We’re going to work with the legal system to sort this out and we’ll get this resolved. But we’re obviously concerned. Taylor’s seen she has a problem and she’s working this out. She wants to get this fixed. We’ll be fine.”

The question then came up concerning Chris Holmes’s chances of winning the NSSCRA championship, and what Drake would do to help those title hopes out.

“I guess the question is, Drake, would you let Chris by to win the race?” a reporter asked.

“Yes,” Drake said. “Provided, of course, that doing so doesn’t knock myself or Rinzi from the final four. My ideal situation is that all three of us are in the last four and we can decide the title amongst ourselves. We’re a team. We look out for each other. We win as a team and we lose as a team. It’s the same reason I blocked for Rinzi in Tundra Falls. But I’m not going to help Chris if that means knocking Rinzi out. Chris knows this. It’d be different if he hadn’t wrecked last week, but I’m not going to knock my boy out of the last four.”

“But if it was the three Team Blue drivers going for the title, what would it be like?” another reporter asked.

“We’d just have one rule,” Drake said. “Don’t wreck each other. Other than that, first man to the flag wins. The way it should be.”

Qualifying for the PTCCU Auto Loans 300
It was pretty evident that Chris Holmes was in a different mood when qualifying got started. Where he was, for most of the day, and for most of the week, downcast, Chris was on a different level as the cars started rolling off onto the track for their time trial run. It seemed like he had a level of intensity that he hadn’t shown all year – and in fact, a level of intensity that harkened back to his younger years, when people viewed him as the next big thing in Hapiloppian racing, the next Drake Stevenson, if you will.

Usually, on the qualifying line, Chris was jovial with everyone, always good for a funny quote for the reporters that camped out on the line, and always happy to sign an autograph or pose for a selfie. Not this day. He was already sitting in his car as the car was being pushed to the line. There was a deadly serious look on his face as he stared straight out the windshield. He looked over, to watch Drake Stevenson joke around with a group of fellow drivers, then looked back towards the track ahead of him.

It'd be nice to feel that way. But Drake’s in a better spot.

I’ll be that way soon.

With just two cars ahead of him, Lawrence Malloy peered into Chris’s window as he was putting his helmet on.

“So, fast speed is a 462. Drake reported track feels fast especially on the bottom,” Lawrence said. “You good?”

“Good,” Chris said. “Bottom it is.”

So Chris pulled his car out on the track and ran the car to as low on the track as he could, sliding along the groove. Chris never fancied himself as much of a dirt racer – especially not on Drake’s level – but he figured he could do something great on it. Through turns one and two, Chris went as close to the inside wall as he could, gently pulling the wheel right as the car skated sideways through the first set of corners.

To the backstraight, and Chris let the car drift alongside the outside wall, gunning the throttle. Into turn three, and Chris pulled the wheel hard left, tapped the brake to send the car sideways, feathered the throttle and calmly moved the wheel straight and to the right. It looked so smooth as he made it back to the front stretch, gunning the throttle again as he had that last run to the flag.

Lawrence, standing on pit road, looked at his stopwatch, then at the timing tower to find “8” on the top of the tower. A huge smile came about his face as he saw his driver take the pole.

“That’s a four six with a zero, Holmes, you are on pole!” Lawrence happily declared to his driver.

The Valentians – Race 23 – Multiversal: Holly's Delights 400, The Garden of Radiance, 12 km South-East of Reykjavík, Iceland, Victoriaans Nederlands, Garden at 6th Mile Road (Speedway); Everlong: Holly's Delights 200, The Garden of Radiance, 12 km South-East of Reykjavík, Iceland, Victoriaans Nederlands, Garden at 6th Mile Road (Speedway)

1st Commander Michelle Karen Kassandra Zann Harley Iliana “Nezastavitelná Síla” Breya Angelina Jayne Valérie Vítková Breanna Shirley Geigen Deborah Beveline Tegan Evelyn Saniya Pavlína’s career as the Chief of Police was not one where everything went smooth, even in the realms of Valentine Z. Throughout the years and decades, she assigned herself to take the usual jobs that a police officer would do, on top of the paperwork and bureaucratic things that lieutenants, chiefs, and superintendents do. She felt right on the road, patrolling around in her police car not for the intimidation factor, but because she genuinely believed that she was helping out the communities, and the Valentians around her. Her presence is one of respect, one that even a few of the more hardened criminals of Valentine Z give to her and the Valentian Police Force. She has always been proud of her job, and Valentians have always made her job easy on a very frequent basis. Decades ago in Valentine Z, it was supposed to be a relatively normal day for Michelle – finish her paperwork, review applications and candidates coming into VPF, it is all routine work and tasks for her. Then of course, a few hours of patrolling in her car, which was the part that she was more looking forward to. A normal day, a perfectly fine day, a normal patrol that was supposed to go very well.

Just as she hit the 2nd hour of her shift, Michelle noticed something in the corner of her eye. A car was driving rather recklessly, weaving through the traffic like a typical grand theft auto, except that it was not in a game or in a virtual world, and that people were getting endangered. “I don’t believe this!” she snapped suddenly, starting up her car quickly and turning on the police sirens, “A drunk in Valentine Z, what the hell?” with checking the crowd and other traffic, she slammed onto the accelerator, the police sirens having been turned on and piercing the relatively peaceful and quiet morning on the highway. “Attention all units in the vicinity of Prague,” the radio chimed in, “We have a possible drunk driver at 35, along Křelov-Břuchotín. Suspect is moving erratically on the traffic. I’m proceeding to chase them, over.” “Understood, Commander Michelle. Godspeed and be careful. Do you need a backup?” “Negative, I got this under control.” “Understood.” With that, she moved in for the P.I.T. manoeuvre, a rather clichéd and plain method, but also the one that is the safest. On top of that, the car of the suspect was not top-heavy, so there was little to no chance of it tipping over. “Pull over!” she yelled into the megaphone bolted onto the car, though to no response from the car and its driver. She shifted to a higher gear, got nearer to the suspect car carefully…

She bumped into the car a little too hard. The turn was supposed to be a relatively easy one, with one car on the left of her, and nothing more. And yet, by some bad luck and what she felt was poor driving on her part, she hit the car too hard, the two of them spinning out to the grass patch and then onto the soft wall. Michelle slammed onto the right side of her car (the non-driver side), while the other car that she hit ended up on the wall and rolled once. “Ježíš Maria, what the hell have I done?” she thought, quickly taking out her harnesses and belts and crawling out of her car, making sure to watch for the other cars as she ran towards the trashed #13, its driver side crumpled rather badly. The van was stopped slowly by a soft slam onto the wall, followed by Michelle trading paint with the car, scraping it to the corner of a road, exiting the car, and shutting off the engine. In the driver’s seat was a man, whom she thought was drunk. Frustrated and about to write up a ticket, she made her way back to her police car and brought along a breath analyser with her. To her horror, the analyser registered a 0% BAC, which also was not a surprise to her with that conclusion, “Well, I mean, Valentians know better,” she thought, checking on the man. She quickly dialled more emergency services to be on the way, to then explain on what she saw, did, and happened.

As it turns out, the man suffered a stroke behind the wheel, which came rather unexpected as the Valentian man has shown little to no signs of deteriorating health; it just happened spontaneously, and with little time to react, he was unable to stop the car on the side before his stroke acted up. There was, indeed, no drink-driving happening. Michelle was relieved for the man’s innocence, but also felt bad that she might have further damaged him during the chase and the attempt to stop the car. After all, the damage between the car was way too large and thus the both of them ended up as DNF – Michelle leaving unscathed, while Duruljiayiji had to be hauled to a medic tent for further evaluation. Guilt overwhelmed her. “No… No, I didn’t mean to do that! We were too close to each other, I should have slowed down… I should have been more careful. I had- didn’t had a choice, to stop the runaway car.”

The Gardeners – Race 23 – Multiversal: Holly's Delights 400, The Garden of Radiance, 12 km South-East of Reykjavík, Iceland, Victoriaans Nederlands, Garden at 6th Mile Road (Speedway); Everlong: Holly's Delights 200, The Garden of Radiance, 12 km South-East of Reykjavík, Iceland, Victoriaans Nederlands, Garden at 6th Mile Road (Speedway)

Vice Foresittend Jolyn Maxine Caulfield Moira “Неуловимая, Женщина-шпион” Marlene Wendy Lucille Lapis Jill Khorosheva Vin. Zolina łnt. Natasha Vasilisa Helen Ceeta Tescelyn Maximovna had a little too much on her plate for that day. For one, she was more than happy for her friend – one Holly Starlight – who had been showing herself more confidently than she had been for the past few years and decades. That was not a bad thing. The worry and concern, however, come not just from Jolyn herself but also from the Valentians, particularly The Sixty, who have requested each other, and especially Jolyn and Gwen, to make sure that no harm and malice will come to Holly’s way. “We definitely do understand that Holly can stay and do whatever she pleases, because this is her race,” Valkyrie Valentijn remarked, “However, it is also important that – while I am not saying that we are distrustful of our fellow non-Valentian friends – we still have to be vigilant and to make sure that no one is going to take advantage of Holly. This has been done every season when other drivers and people are around Holly, and so it would not change for this season as well. And of course, please do enjoy your times as well! I know I gave you all this assignment, but that does not mean that you have to be focused on this all the time. Just be aware, and it will be fine.”

So far so good, Jolyn thought. So what else was bugging her, she wondered to herself. After all, she once again took a day off from her jobs as a teacher and the Head Minister of Education, trusting her colleagues fully, as well as making sure that she is not abusing her privileges; for once, Jolyn got the same amount of day-offs just like with the rest of her colleagues, perhaps save for very special and emergency situations that concerns the whole country. In other words – Jolyn has 30 days of paid day-offs per year just like the rest of her coworkers, but she can take more off for pure purpose of running Valentine Z such as Valkyrie Valentijn wanting to see her for a meeting. Going back, so if it was not Holly or her students or her fellow teachers that were bugging her, what else then? “Hey hey, don’t worry too much about that!” she consoled her friend, one 1st Commander Michelle who was broken down into a weeping state after accidentally hitting #13 and knocking him to having to visit the medic tent. “I saw the footage, I know you did not do it on purpose,” Jolyn added on, giving Michelle a light hug and a pat on the shoulder. “It was my fault, it really is!” Michelle exclaimed, a tear or two running down her eyes – sadness abound, while trying to keep it as professional as possible and have her emotions in check, “Duruljiayiji wouldn’t have been carried on that stretcher had it not for me! Just like that dude I hurt further because I thought he was drunk-driving.” Jolyn nodded sympathetically, letting her friend talk it out for a while, then figured that she can add a few words in too.

“Hey hey, these things happen. And- oh my goodness, that incident. Michelle, that is absolutely not your fault at all, or that guy’s. He had a stroke, and couldn’t control the car. Yeah, it was a serious threat and a danger to people around, but some things just happens, you know what I mean? And you made the best out of it. Michelle, sometimes accidents happen in the races as well. Heck, there’re times when NSSCRA drivers are out for each other’s blood! I know you are not that kind of person, all right? Duruljiayiji will be fine. I will check on him, then you can send him some flowers and get-well-soon cards. Germaine told me that surprisingly, he didn’t break anything; anyone else would have gotten fractures, lacerations, and all the other nasties. For him? He just got KO’ed out of shock.” Michelle’s face brightened up a little, perhaps relieved and having finally used the opportunity to get it off her chest. It was not written off as a case of brutality – both from the police department and from countless citizens all over Valentine Z. And yet, it was that guilt that she hit someone too hard and knocked them out – both in and out a race.

Holly Aceline “De Stralend en Wonderbaarlijk Licht Koningin Van Haar Mooie Universum” Aurora Symantha Vreugde Astrid Lavender Lexis Lilac Harmony Tsi. Marlie Nova Radiant Lapia Starlight’s second video was special. It was supposed to be a normal video whereby she will record it, then upload it on her video-sharing channel. Instead, it was live-streamed straight from her dimension, and on all the television sets and screens around the race course. “Hello, my wonderful friends!” she nodded and waved, the subtitles all appearing on the lower part of the screen as per usual, “Thank you for the wonderful time and the race that we have had at The Garden of Radiance! I must say, there were certainly a lot going on, and every single one of you have put in a great a lot of effort! I am sorry for presenting this a little late, especially for those folks in Everlong. I wanted to make sure that this coincides with- well, not exactly. I just want to make this a bit more special, to be presented at the end of everything and before we go for the next race. Without further ado, I would like to present to you all, the 8 prizes for 8 wonderful people!”

“We will start off with Everlong first! First and foremost, we have Cocoabo #37 from Tropicorp at the Pole Position for the Everlong series! For that, they would receive a bag of Cocoabo treats, made especially for them with thanks to a team of Valentian scientists and zoologists! It is a wonder food that, when given a portion of these treats to a Cocoabo, they would get 150-… no, 200% of their daily nutritional needs, and the excess will NOT go into them as fats! Hmm, I wonder if this would go pretty nicely for the humans too! After all, I heard that this kind of thing is popular in many worlds I have visited – to feast without worry about gaining weight, or storing excess in your body.”

“Moving on, the third place prize of Everlong goes to… Lexi Patterson of Saint Kanye!” she claps happily like she did for the Cocoabo, then continued on, “For this, she will receive this lovely water bottle- ahh wait, okay, here it is! This is not just some ordinary water bottle. No, this is a special magical bottle that will simply deceive your eyes! It can hold a capacity of 500 mL, it seems normal so far. Now, please, do allow me…” she trailed off, lifting up a very large tank of water from underneath her table and placing it onto the table. Then, without a single word further, Holly poured all of its content into the water bottle, all of it without spilling a drop. “It is extradimensional! Through a combination of technology and magic, this little water bottle can hold up to 10,000 mL! Perfect for camping and travels! Do NOT put your hands inside, please! Liquids only! Oh, and it does not need washing either, it self-cleans!”

“Second prize goes to… Sage Caldwell of Saint Kanye! Oooh, another from the same team! I do wonder as to if we will have a triple podium one day, but this does not seem to be it! That is okay, I am not discounting anything, and in fact, you guys have done amazing! Anyway, moving on, Sage here will be receiving this nice little-“ she quickly cut off, though not necessarily out of shock or horror. Instead, she disappeared from the camera quickly, and then reappeared a few seconds later, still her jovial and happy self, “A dreamcatcher! I know what you might be thinking – Holly, this is just a novelty! Well, you are half-right about that. It is a novelty with not a lot of useful utilities! But, watch this,” she trailed off, seemingly pressing on the dreamcatcher a few times, along with pulling the odd feather here and there. Then, the dreamcatcher started glowing a rather intense blue, which then projects a screen onto the wall, the one where Holly was facing for a demonstration. “It copies your actual dreams (so you won’t get drained of them), and then project them onto a screen! Fun for the whole family, for your friends, or even for yourself!”

“And last but not least, the first prize of Everlong goes to – Alex Remington! For you, I would like to present to you with this nice little ruby ring! Now now, this is NOT a proposal! Instead, this little ring, when you wear it, will give you quite a fair lot of persistence and resistance towards fires and flames. It was ideal for me, then I realised that people also suffered from third-degree burns now and then. At least, I heard that is what you people call it. So, do wear this, and let your fear of fire slowly extinguish, as it reduces your fire damage by 10 times. As a disclaimer: I am NOT responsible for any injuries or deaths that you might get into from wearing this ring, and doing stunts!”

“Hmmm, we are now getting to the Multiversal! Once again, we will start with the qualifications! On pole position, we have Rinzi Aogar Zakhilwal from Hapilopper! I would like to present you with this big piece of magical leaf! This is no ordinary leaf, and for one, it is not tearable! For two, simply have someone hold up the leaf and talk into it, and then it will then be translated into your native language in text! Please do allow me to demonstrate. Jolyn, if you please!” Jolyn walked into the view of the camera, with Holly holding up the leaf and speaking in English. The leaf was then handed over to Jolyn, which then the Russian translation of whatever Holly said materialized instantly onto the leaf. “See? It’s that simple! It’s a perfect translation device!” Holly said cheerfully, then shaking hands with Jolyn, “Thank you, my wonderful friend, for the wonderful demo! Now then, we move to the main podium prizes!”

“On third, we have Jeremiah Brooke from Saint Kanye! It’s good to see you again, my friend, and congratulations on a job well done! For you, I present to you this wonderful gift – the sand nightstand! I suppose it is a little closer to what you people might call a lava lamp, but for this one, it does not need electricity or any other input! It will run for a good… 20 thousand years? More or less, that is my estimation. It’s made out of ribbons of energy that, well, is prevalent in my dimension, and perhaps even made of materials that I am made out of in-turn. Comes in many different color cycles and patterns that you can control with the buttons and dials that were on the lamp. Sleep well!”

“In second place, Chris Holmes from Hapilopper! And I really do hope that this will not be in bad taste; I am indeed terribly sorry if this offends you, and you can approach me any time for a change of gifts. Still, I do hope from the bottom of my heart that you will love it! A set of golf clubs! Now, I have copied the exact shape and set of clubs that a typical golfer usually uses, then I have done some magic of my own. They are tinted blue, are at constant 14 degrees Celsius to the touch, and more importantly – they do not break! You can introduce a shredder to it, and it will be up all night trying to scratch it. These will last for 20 years before the energy levels get too low and break down. They will NOT smell when they dissipate; they will simply vanish into thin air, and that will be that. Once again, I do hope that you are okay with this and if not, please, come to my place and I’ll get you another type of gift!”

Holly paused for a few seconds before announcing the big prize. “And for the 1st of Multiversal, we have the lucky person TJUN-ia! Who is he? Who is she? They drive a #64! Yessss, Alfonso Mercado! A round of applause for the wonderful victory, it was well-fought! I will present and show the prize!” Holly went out of the camera’s view again, pretending to be straining from the weight of the prize. A rectangular corner showed up, followed by what appears to be a TV. “Yes, ladies and gentlemen, and my wonderful friends! A giant magical Television! Instead of the usual technology that is used for TVs, this uses, well, materials and energy that I am made out of! With a big thanks to my fellow Valentians, I believe that this is a giant marvel and harmony of technology and magic! It doesn’t need its own energy, has ports for most standards all over the multiverse, and no more fear of screen burns! Hmm, oh yes, that is not all!” Holly demonstrated once again, turning the television on and showing a static picture of a city. She clicked on the button labelled “3D” on the remote, and in a whim, the screen of the TV dissolved, followed by the scene becoming 3-dimensional, perhaps akin to that of an aquarium. “This is reversible and does not damage the TV! If you want to go back to 2D, press the button again! Do NOT touch the lights, they will cause freezer burns.”

“Hm hm, and with that, we have come to the end of the video, and to officially end the race here at Holly’s Delights! Thank you very much for the wonderful memories, and I do hope to see you all again! Stay safe, and good luck!”

Yo they really should add open charters to WGPC

Imagine (heh) @Jeremiah_B and @StacieHouston27 in two extra Chase Cutters in the race... i mean if Terho can be in a stock car race then why not the opposite right?

And so, here we are. The Championship 4's Field will be determined by a dirt track. The Oxyrhynchus-Ring in the Fhulghamous Peninsula has hosted events like this before and we certainly have enjoyed their hospitality...but not with the Dirt layout. It was this change, from standard pavement to this being a dirt event, that caused curious glances when the schedule was announced...and now, the latest dirt has ever appeared in the schedule will have a very important job to do across both NSSCRA Series. We all know this track can produce drama...but will the dirt just make things more or less chaotic?

Qualifying for the PTCCU Auto Loans 300 would significantly revive the odds of something deemed fatally wounded as Chris Holmes took pole over the Yeezie duo of Thea Alvarez and Jeremiah Brooke in a move that certainly made it known that his Chase hopes weren't dead yet. Michael "Kaiser" Stefan (@Stefan07) ended up as the better of the JR cars in P4 with Maddison Riley-Jones (@MaddyRJ03) in P17 and Alfonso "Cyclone" Mercado (@AM64) in P22 while over at HM, Lam Chow-Cheung shall start in P11 and Aurélia Karvonen in P28. Those making it through as a non-charter would be Anna Star Joy Thanda Pwint Thinzar Nwe (P27), Ashley Matthews (P32), Wang Anjiao (P38), Lightning Zhang (P41), Roosevelt Jenkins (P42) and Todd Underhill (P43) while the open-charters would also be interesting. We welcomed back Wilma von Cärinthen for the first time since her pregnancy and she put her famous #98 in P24 - while the 2nd Open Charter goes to the Winner of the EverLong Race, who will start in P46.

Speaking of the EverLong, the Visit the Fhulghamous! 200 was going to decide all of these marbles and it would be Edmund Flanders who started from pole over Valkyrie Valentijn Samantha Constantine and Benjamin Rumlow with Alice Jepkosgei (@AJ96) starting from P5, Kaarina Salo in P12, Gongming Gao (@GG70) in P13, Ilmari Pëkannen in P15 and Axel Chase (@AxChase) well off the pace and right at the back in P37. This race would be fucking chaos, no doubt about that, as Salo and Gao were among the 7 retirements this race had - ending JR's participation in the T2 Chase this year. In the end, it would be good ol' Sage Caldwell who book his ticket to both tomorrow and the Big One with victory over Marcus Alan Ariel Reynolds and Rumlow with Ilmari in P11, Chase came home in P13 and AJ was P17...and so, the dust settled. Gao would be joined by Marcus, Flanders and Michelle Kass Evelyn Vítková Pavlína in the pile...meaning your Championship 4 is Alex Remington, Sage, Ilmari and VVSC. Four nations, Four drivers, 4 teams - and I know it will be a hard battle right to the end.

Tomorrow, the MCS needs its Title Challengers...one way or another.

There was something that had been on Rinzi's mind in recent weeks, ever since the race weekend in the Garden of Radiance, ever since Holly had presented him with an enchanted leaf that could translate foreign languages. The dilemma was this: the leaf was a very useful and thoughtful gift, but according to Rinzi's understanding of Islam it was also haram. He was struggling with the decision whether to keep such an item. Tashi had told Rinzi he should just keep the leaf, but Rinzi still felt a little awkward about owning something so obviously magical and he felt that he should seek out the advice of an imam.

So Rinzi arrived at a Fleftic mosque, where he met with the imam and explained how Holly had given him the leaf. He demonstrated the leaf's power by speaking to it in Sherpa and handing it to the imam. The imam flinched in surprise when he saw Arabic script appear on the surface of the leaf. He laid it down on a table and peered down at it, but as he watched the text began to change. It was still Arabic script, but there was something different about it. The letters curved just a little more gracefully, the colors of the text and the leaf harmonized just a little more beautifully. The imam felt as if he could not look away. He did not even notice when Rinzi stepped up closer to peer over his shoulder. The script was exquisitely beautiful with all the expressive quality of human handwriting and all the precision of computer-printed text. The imam absentmindedly shifted his hand and he felt it bump against something. He looked over to see what he had bumped and saw that it was a quran that he had left on the table from earlier that day.

"Does your leaf believe in God?" the imam asked with a grin.

"Ahhh... I don't know," said Rinzi. "It's a leaf. I'm not sure if it has beliefs."

"You are sure the person who gave it to you was doing it from sincere kindness?" the imam asked.

"Holly? Yeah. She isn't the kind of spirit that plays tricks on people."

The imam picked up the leaf and experimented some more, talking to it and setting it on the table beside the quran to see the beautiful calligraphy that appeared. "This is a very interesting leaf!" he said. He played with it a little more and then handed to leaf back to Rinzi, whereupon the text changed from Arabic to Sherpa. "I think it is okay to keep it. It was a gift after all."

Kai Qiang and Tsering Chu enjoyed the Governor General's welcome dinner, but so far Qiang was not enjoying much of anything else. During practice, his team had tried testing out how long they could make a set of tires last on the abrasive sandy surface of the Oxyrhynchus Ring, and the answer was "not as long as they hoped."

Qualifying was nothing short of a disaster, and once again, Qiang found himself avoiding the media.

"Maybe you should just go ahead and talk to them," Tsering suggested, as they sat snuggled together in the privacy of her hauler. "Just give them their story and get it over with. Have you ever noticed how the teams that talk to the media usually do better than the ones who keep to themselves? I think it's a confidence thing. If you have the confidence to deal with the media, you can use that confidence on the track too."

"I've got a better idea," Qiang signed. "How about we trade cars and you go for the title in the #02?"

Tsering laughed. It was obvious from the look on Qiang's face that he was just being sarcastic.
