Valentine Z – Welcome to Mars!

Image

It was the year 2055. Valentine Z has more or less bounced back from the horrors of the Pre-Valentian Era, namely both the conventional war that has swallowed millions of lives, followed by the total nuclear destruction of the entire planet that took the Valentians way too much to build back. As arrogant as it sounds, had it not for the effort of Valentijn and a lot of the friends and people that then-he took under his wings, the planet may not have a nice future, and there could have been a world where “Valentine Z” was nothing but; a nuclear fallout-era world with even fewer people than the science fiction movies and games have portrayed countless times. However, as history would put it, the Valentians were able to revive the planet back from its lifeless nature, bringing their own twist into it in terms of founding the planet-sized country based on the principles of human understanding, love, and peace. Hatred and wars were to be no more, though it would not be a surprise that for the latter, there will still be a need for the self-defense forces in the case of external invaders. On top of that, internal affairs and corruption that has been plaguing the country has also been more or less revolved, and as a result, Valentine Z was at its zenith, both in terms of its population, both the soft and hard development, and everything else along the way. Of course, with said peak development, also came a problem. As the new year approaches, the Valentians on Earth were starting to experience the effects of overpopulation, especially in the major city areas. Making artificial islands and lands have worked in the short term, but at the end of the day, it was only going to address the problem by a small amount. As a result, they had to look at another planet, somewhere that they are sure that there is no lifeform to disturb.

Enter Mars, in the Solar System of the universe that Valentine Z resides in. It is also of note that Valentine Z’s universe is expanded by 2.66 times, and as a result is the explanation as to why the Valentians are large by measures of the other systems and universes. There may probably be other universes out there where the people are 10 meters on average, but that is perhaps for another story. This time, it is the story of the Valentians and how they have managed to bend the laws of nature to their will, to terraform and make the red planet Mars breathable and liveable for the Valentians without making them a temporary space station, or a small colony with a risk of having or developing homesickness. With the revitalization and a lot of funding of the Valentian Space Program, most of it thanks to the spear-headed effort and ambition from 1st Cpt. Angela Stella Trista Josephine Natalie Rv. E. Tps. “The Eternal Explorer” Bethany Alyssa Valeska Payton. Mikayla Gosling Josie Rowan Serenity Chelsea Lynette Hannah Tan Fang Ling with final approvals and allowance of funding from Valentijn “De Sierlijke en Vrij Valkyrie General ov Valentine Z” Samantha Maxwell Delta Weston Stijn Angelus Tracey Mitchell Tristian Marnix Basilisk Lewis Hyatt X. Constantine Sein Lin Zaw Naing, citing “We will need to consider Mars as a second smaller home to us. It shall not be used as temporary colony for the Valentians, and neither shall we abandon our home planet into ruins. Instead, we will try our best and to see if we can terraform Mars to the specifications of Earth, perhaps apart from the differences in temperature, and then we shall connect these two planets both through a series of spaceships for commercial purposes, as well as to build portals (teleporters that disintegrate don’t always work) and wormholes!”

And thus, after much research and effort, along with a couple of expeditions (lead by Angela Stella Tan Fang Ling), Mars was ready to be terraformed. With approval from Valkyrie Valentijn Samantha Constantine, Clarissa Alanis Star Samantha, Angela Stella Tan Fang Ling, as well as many other important Valentians – from both The Sixty and from space program departments, Valentine Z terraformed Mars to look and feel more like Earth – breathable atmosphere, water, plant life, and settlements all came in. And thus, the Valentian Mars was born and soon took in a lot of residents from Earth for a decent and affordable living, with the planet having the same experience as Earth perhaps other than the lowered gravity (33% that of Earth), as well as the slight atmospheric composition (80% Nitrogen, 18% Oxygen, 2% other gases), and the cooler average temperatures than the one seen on Earth.

Now that we are done with the history of Valentine Z and her journey to Mars and terraforming it, now is to talk about the Venue itself, as well as about Valentine Z. First and foremost, it would be good to mention and talk about the world that we are in, particularly of Valentine Z. Clarissa Alanis Star Samantha has written a concise yet helpful and nice tourist’s guide, which can be found here. One of the sections have detailed about travel from Earth to Mars, which can be done either through the traditional spaceflights that travels between planets on a regular basis (faster travel times are more costly, but hopefully not enough to break one’s bank), while there are also portals that are free of charge. The spaceships (which uses renewable energy, for the comfort and safety of the mind of many) were simply given and provided as a means for the travellers (both Valentians and the tourists alike) to enjoy the fun and excitement of travelling on a spaceship, while the portals are for those who would like to be there as soon as possible. In short, there are options for both the Valentians and the visitors from the other worlds! Portal travel is safe, and our Chief Aviator Gwen Tracer Allison Oxton will assure that with utmost honesty. With the travelling part done, and with reference to Clarissa’s guide, there are laws and other stuff as to what you can do and can’t do. As for the other features, the average temperature on Mars varies from 32 C to -60 C, thanks to the slightly higher concentration of carbon dioxide that is in the atmosphere of Terraformed Valentian Mars. The mass of water available – and considering the cost and energy that is required to make a planet worth of it on Mars – is slightly lesser, with the lower sea levels providing more land mass. The deepest point of the sea on Mars is –21840 meters, while the highest point on Mars a whopping 56500 meters, with travellers being advised to bring in what is effectively an astronaut suit if they want to climb and conquer the heights. Again, please use a lot of caution! The climate and weather is similar to that of Earth, except that one Valentian Mars year is equivalent to 687 Valentian Earth Days (not using the Decimal Time), which translates to around 1 Martian Year = 1.88 Earth Years. Still, going back, that means longer seasons depending on where you are. Mars has a fair share of tropical, sub-tropics, temperate, subarctic, tundra, and icecaps. Of course, due to the geography of Mars along with average temperatures, folks who are coming here for a warm beach day may be a bit disappointed to find that the Martian beaches of Valentine Z may be a little too cold for comfort. Those who loves the snow will find it an absolute wonder to be here.

Of note is that due to the lowered gravity of Mars as a whole, visitors and even residents of Valentine Z alike may feel a bit of unusual interactions when it comes to doing everyday tasks on this ex-red planet, ranging from getting out of bed, to watching water drops flow more slowly, to even being able to do some stunts here and there. We would once again like to ask that the tourists keep a lot of caution when they are coming onto the Valentian Mars. The gravity may be weaker, but it is still present, and it can still hurt you at sufficient heights. With that said, there is a lot of fun to be had in a low gravity environment, and unlike a Mars colony, you can absolutely go out and enjoy the nature scenery (albeit a little colder) that terraformed Mars have to offer from the Valentians. There are also other smaller cities along with an intercontinental train system that runs across the whole planet. Unlike Earth, however, there is more or less only one large open sea, with the landmasses more or less connected across. In other words, you can very well walk from one side of the planet to another, if you fancy that sort of thing. Again, do use caution!

For the more important part of this wonderful 35th season of the International Basketball Championship, this will be at Melody Courts, which is situated at the largest city of Valentine Z in Mars, named Nexitros Stratuss, right next to the highest peak of Mars. If the venue bid that we are doing went in, of course, what to expect for Melody Courts, will be something similar to what is seen in Fate Stadium in World Cup, perhaps a little smaller. Melody Courts by itself boasts a capacity of 60,000 seats, with the seats also being made for the Valentians. In other words, the interdimensional travellers and visitors, along with the players, will find that the seats are 2.66 times larger than the normal seats, which means there is plenty of leg room, arm rest, and of course, the food servings are large as well. Please don’t feel too intimidated and small by our sheer appearances, we are all friendly and compassionate folks! For those who would like to practice during their spare time, the Melody Courts also boasts a very large gym filled with equipment both for the Valentians and for regular-sized folks, as well as 6 practice basketball courts that are compliant to the standards of the international rules. There is also a question of how to play a game properly when the gravity is only 33% as strong. This is where the artificial gravity generator comes into play, setting the whole Melody Court to a nice and easy 1.0089 g (g = 9.81 m/s^2). Every single person entering the venue will have to travel through a hallway that slowly adjusts the gravity so that you won’t feel like you are suddenly getting squashed. We will take care of all of this for you, so you will not have to worry about such a thing. Outside of Melody Courts, Nexitros Stratuss is the second capital away from home, and with its pristine and clean skyscrapers (ones that are way higher than the ones on Earth), integrated gardens and nature “reserves” (that acts as what Mars used to look like and feel like before the terraforming; please absolutely make sure that you only go into these areas with the help and guide of our experienced Valentians who will provide you with the safe and mobile space suits. The Martian food is not as different as the one from Earth, so whatever you may have missed on Earth, you will surely find it here as well, the food all coming from Sunny Side Farms – ethical and top of the line food products made from sustainable resources. We hope that you will be able to come to our ex-red planet once again, and we wish you well!

Group C - Rödbrun-Arena, Kjol, Tjorl
Rödbrun-Arena
Kjol, Tjorl
Image

Description: Built in the 1970s at the waterfront, Rödbrun-Arena (which was then called Ivan Arena) served as the new home of the Kjol Knights. Since then, it has witnessed many highs and lows throughout the capital team's history. It was also used as one of the national team's arenas. After renovation in the mid-2000s, the arena has been considered "a local beauty" by many Kjolins. At best, it can hold around 21,540 spectators. As for facilities, it has the basic requirements: dressing rooms, large media rooms, and a number of conference rooms. Additionally, it also hosts an outdoor plaza, VIP seats and suites, a pub, and a food court. As for player accommodations, all designated facilities such as practice venues or hotels are located only a short walk away from the arena.
Note: Aside from domestic events, Rödbrun-Arena has only previously hosted one international tournament: the playoffs of IUBC 16.

Visiting Tjorl: Tjorl is located in northwestern Oatland, bordering the small nation of Laufeyssen to the north and unclaimed territory to pretty much everywhere else. Travelling to Tjorl is relatively easy, although it does take longer than if you were to travel between the Big Four regions. In the summer, expect to experience temperatures around 13 to 15.5 degrees Celsius, while expect around 0 to -3 degrees in the winter. Public transportation around the city is free and easy-to-use. Buses regularly arrive and depart at the arena, while taxis can be frequently found throughout the city. Recently, the federal leadership and many local governments have also pushed for more biking instead of driving, and have improved the transportation infrastructure to encourage doing so in urban areas. Don't be shy to ask for help from the Tjorlins, because they will be happy to help. Kjol is the capital of Tjorl, and it boasts a rich cultural history. As the nation's capital, many important businesses have their headquarters here, such as the Federal Broadcasting Channel.

Group D - Havenurbo Basketball Arena, Havenburbo, Muralos
Muralosian Host Bid for the 35th International Basketball Championship
Havenurbo Basketball Arena

Image

The Havenurbo Basketball Arena (HKB) seats 10,014, and it is the home stadium for the Havenurbo Cruisers of the Muralosian Basketball League. Constructed in 2018, the HKB lacks history compared to some of its older counterparts, like the Zemlinsky National Sports Complex in Urbego, where Muralos hosted both the Soviet Union and the United States. But where it lacks in history, the HKB makes up for it with sterling, sustainably powered facilities. The main stage of the HKB boasts a retractable, modular floor design - in other words, the central basketball court can be easily modified to suit various international and multiversal standards for basketball. The baskets and backboards are supported by reinforced steel provided by Sakhalin Steel Works and tested by the national team's own Arseny Rudenko. (To be clear, this is not a challenge for anyone to try to break them.)

Aside from a main basketball arena, the HKB boasts a total of 16,000 square feet of locker room and shower space. The entire facility is solar powered, and in 2020, a rooftop garden, track, and training space were installed. The track and training space is shared by basketball and soccer teams during their respective regular seasons, but for the IBC, it will be exclusive to the basketball teams competing on any given matchday.

For sports fans attending games at the HKB, amenities have recently been upgraded to suit all visitors from the multiverse. Toilets, faucets, and diaper changing stations in Muralosian restrooms are moldable for a variety of sentient, basketball-loving life. You can expect secluded rooms for all toilets instead of the stalls common in most Muralosian public restrooms.

The HKB will boast concession stands throughout the perimeter of the basketball arena, as well as a café open for lunch and dinner service. Concessions include a range of snack foods popular in East Asia: cheesy corn dogs, takoyaki, and jianbing guozi - although Chinese people outside Muralos consider it patently strange to eat this breakfast food item during an evening basketball game. Ahead of the IBC, the HKB will launch a social media campaign inquiring into multiversal cuisine, in hopes of catering to the tastes of all who compete and cheer here.

Transport to and from the HKB is convenient. From Presidential International Airport, Spaceport, and Multiversal Portal in Urbego, travelers may take a Hyperloop, high speed train, or car to Havenurbo. These journeys take 1 minute, 20 minutes, and 1 hour, respectively. Transport within Havenurbo is provided by bus and tram, with ample coverage of the city center and several suburbs.

This host bid is issued jointly by the Muralosian Ministry of Sport and the City of Havenurbo, as well as the Havenurbo Cruisers of the Muralosian Basketball League.

Group E - Corps Central Court, Drawk City, Drawkland
Bid for IBC 35 Group Stage Hosting Venue

Drawk City, Drawkland

Corps Central Court (55,000)

Image

Drawkland has been a staple of the international basketball community since NSCAA 7, when Sadeg State University famously *almost had an undefeated title-winning season. Though it took a couple cycles for the national team to catch up to the collegiate success, Drawkland was still a recognizable name in the basketball world. To say nothing of the unique nature of Drawkian players, the Interstellar Empire also played co-host to the IBC in the 21st edition alongside the former Royal Kingdom of Quebec. Since then, Drawkland has won two titles each in the IBC and NSCAA. Drawkland is no stranger to hosting basketball, both from the IBC and tournaments in the NSCAA.

Along for that has been Corps Central Court, one of Drawkland's largest and most impressive indoor arenas. Home of the Drawk Corps pro basketball team in the DBO, it was one of the primary venues used in IBC 21. It's also been used for many NSCAA conference tournaments, most recently the Big Seven Nine conference tournament in NSCAA 13, where Futsworth College from Saterun shockingly upset the highly-ranked favorite University of Moravica in the title game.

More notably, Corps Central Court hosted games 3-5 in the IBC 21 championship clash between Valanora and Abanhfleft. It was there that Útírminail Wernarta made the game winning shot to give Valanora the series lead in Game 3, it was there that Abanhfleft blew out the Dragons in Game 4 to force a final rubber match, and it was there that half-Drawk, half-Yeezie Abanhfleft star Jazz Higgs hit the buzzer-beating hook shot to take Game 5, and the title, for the Rebs. Did we mention he was 18 at the time?

Those triumphs may be in the past, but their memory lives on forever. For IBC 35, the Drawk Corps is excited to put forth a bid to host a group in the IBC with their hallowed home hardwood.

The arena itself is located in the Corps Central Complex, a large area in the suburbs of Drawk City, which serves as headquarters for the Drawk Corps organization. The Corps itself is a mix between a corporation and a club, a national entity that citizens can apply to join and reap the benefits. The Complex is features a large glassy skyscraper in the center where the headquarter offices are located, and surrounded in each cardinal direction by a stadium for all 4 of the Drawk Corps' franchises in each of Drawkland's big four sports (gridiron, soccer, baseball, and basketball). The Corps Central Court, of course, is the basketball arm of this arrangement. On one side is the HQ building, on each other side are the baseball and soccer stadiums, and on the remaining side is a large parking lot for fans and visitors, covered with shades which double as solar panels.

Drawk City itself is the cultural capital of Drawkland (and the national capital until Metropolon was built). It was founded on the banks of the Drawk River a few years after Drawkland was founded, so that the capital could be a "neutral" city, void of any previously-held allegiances in the more feudal early days. After its founding, it quickly became a major destination, as many citizens of the new nation wanted to live in the quickly-developing town. It developed alongside Drawkland through history, now being a cosmopolitan metropolis sprawling for many miles in every direction. The greater Drawk City metro area is estimated to have well over 25 million people.

Being such a large and busy city, Drawk City is filled with things to do. Many museums, monuments, government buildings old and new, corporation headquarters, and historic landmarks can be found peppered across the city limits. You could spend years in Drawk City and still be missing things, but at least you'll always have something new to do when you visit. The Corps Complex is a bit out of town, close to one of the airports. The robust public transport system featuring a subway, elevated maglev trains, and busses, should be more than enough to take visitors to wherever they'd like to visit.

For teams and their entourage, the Drawk Corps would be more than happy to house them in the fancy hotels located right outside the Complex. The practice facilities for all the Corps squads are just a stone throw's away, and the Corps will ensure every team has the time and space necessary to be at their top game. The passage and accommodation for the national teams, their staff, spirit squads, and important VIPs, will all be taken care of by the Corps. The hope is that the ticket sales for IBC games and bookings for the many Corps-owned hotels in the area from fans will recoup the cost, especially since the size of CCC will allow more fans that usual to attend games.

The Drawk Corps, alongside DISC, are optimistic that Corps Central Court will be more than satisfactory for the IBC 35 organizers to serve as a host for a group in this edition of the Championships. We look forward to seeing basketball fans streaming into Drawkland once again!

IBC 35 - First Group Stage: Host Venue Bids

IC: The thirty-fifth International Basketball Championships, in an effort to continue fostering the interest towards basketball across the Multiverse, will be looking to have accept bids for prospective venues in the First Group Stage.

While Basketball Quebec, the organising body of basketball in Quebec and Shingoryeo, has won the hosting rights for the tournament, the bid was also run with those promises, as well as a plan to host a test event for the Games of the XVI Olympiad, scheduled to be cohosted between Twin Cities and Prescott, Electrum, with the basketball events held in venues across the city. It is intended to help bringing together consolidated, unified interest of international basketball tournament for the 40 teams involved, before 20 of them come together to Twin Cities, Quebec and Shingoryeo, for the second group stage and the knockout rounds.

With this in mind, the Basketball Quebec, in coordination with the International Basketball Organisation (IBO), will be opening the bidding process with 4 hosting venues for the first group stage, who will be hosting four of the five groups of the first stage. The fifth venue, KD Gardens in Habpo District, Twin Cities, Quebec and Shingoryeo, will be hosting the Group A.

OOC: As you may have seen from past tournaments with said format, which had at least eight venues (WCoH), four venues aren't a lot. Depending on the number and quality of bids, I may consider extending it to eight to ten venues to reflect the pool of bids, but let's not consider that rightaway. So, with that in mind, this is also an opportunity for participating nations, whether they make it or not, to roleplay it out a basketball venue your federation (OOCly you, of course) would like to submit for an international championships. For quite a few of you, this is a good time to maybe tell us more about a past IBC venue. For others, this may be a good opportunity to present a new venue that may end up being used for future IBCs!

So, with that in mind, here are some of the steps/points that you should consider when bidding:

1. Please post your application in an RP form here. Please do not PM or TG me your submission, or post them on the OOC thread, or they will not be recognised. You are welcome to post it on a separate post to your roleplay, or as part of your roster. That said, if you are adding your stadium bid after your roster's done, please PM me via Discord or send a Telegram.

2. One stadium per nation may be submitted. In your RP, you must state a detailed description of your venue submission. The very minimum and basic you will need for the form range from arena location, possible facilities (accommodation, practice venue, etc) and other miscellaneous info which you deem helpful for RPing purposes. It is also helpful to add information about the city and the nation to help others roleplay about the city.

3. The deadline for the bids will be 23:59 EDT (Toronto-New York Time), of June 23. Four hosting venues selected will be announced on the Group Draw, to be held in June 24.

4. You, dear participant, may be overly concerned with whether your respective venue bid will pass or not. As the host I'd specifically advise you not to think too much about it, especially as 1) the numbers of accepted venues (aside from Twin Cities, of course) may increase up to eight, and 2) your roleplay submission will be counted for MD1, whether accepted or not. So, with that in mind, I'd advise you to put out the best and see how it comes along.

Have fun folks.

Part 0 / Roster – A Four-word Before We Begin.

Image

Hi, yes! We are back again! I am Chief Aviator Gwen Tracer Hepburn “Fate of Existence and the Omniverse” Ellen Trixie Caitlin Foxworthy Avril Verlene Eveline Celinda Sammy Doris T-Rev Oxton Arielle Lindall Leslie Vitesse Allison, and it’s such a pleasure to meet you guys again! Ahh, well, I didn’t really do well in for NSSCRA 12 this time, and to be extremely honest, it absolutely sucked. I DNFed on the last race. However, that’s okay. There’s always another season, you know? And I am here simply to vet over and then to help Joshua in case he needs anything else, while I will be playing tourist across the other universes. You may even be lucky enough to read a little bit about my own adventures while there are narratives about well, Gwen’s Angels playing it through. The following has been taken from the previous season, so just as a disclaimer if things look very similar! There’s often just no need for a change.

So, just to recap, who are Gwen's Angels? Hehe, my angels. No, I didn’t mean it in a very wrong manner! For all intents and purposes, it is an unisex basketball team consisting of 15 Valentian players from all over the world, our Valentian world, of course! They are all under my management, but I am giving Joshua a chance like I said! He could use a bit more hand and practice, and he certainly does love this job, as he told me. That is all good with me, I am more than happy to take a more passive route! This is currently our fourth season, which does seem pretty fast, but trust me, it does take a while in our Valentian years, especially with the war that has happened a bit recently. IBC 32 in 2086 – our first season – saw us with 5 wins and 11 losses for a total of 16 games played. Then comes IBC 33 in 2087 – our second season – 5 games won and 5 lost for a total of 10 games. It was a relatively small season, I believe. Ahh, then comes IBC 34 in 2093, in the same year that NSSCRA 12 finished, but wow, you can fit multiple sports events in one NSSCRA 12 season! Anyway, for IBC 34 – 11 games won, 7 lost, for a total of 18 games. “Oooh, amazing!” I thought to myself upon hearing the news. First a <50% win rate, then exactly 50%, and then 61.11%. Cool! What will the Angels bring for this season? Well, I already know what is there in the future, but let us not spoil it for everyone involved, hehe. I am more than excited to be around with the Angels this time and hey, I am still a bit more open about having an international (or interdimensional) manager from another nation! I would say do let me know if you are interested, but for this season, hmm, maybe hold that thought. I would like to see how far we can take it, and then we bring in the more seasoned and experienced managers aboard after this!

* The heights shall not negatively impact the venues, and the general OOC issues and concerns. They are mostly to show off the heights of the Valentians, and they have the tech-magic to shrink themselves down accordingly to make it a fair play. Outside of matches, use 2.66x values. Inside matches, use 1.00x value.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my scorers: Yes!
Godmod scoring events: Yes, though recommend if you ask first.
RP injuries to my players: Yes, but please ask first. No fatal/career-ending injuries.
Godmod Injuries to my players: Nope for this one, sorry!
Suspend my players: Please ask first.
Godmod suspension events: Nope.
Godmod other events: Again, ask first, I am approachable! ♥

Style modifier: +4

2022-06-25: Small change made to Roster to account for new canonical heights. Also added 1 to the ages. Other than that, no impactful changes.
2022-07-01: Height fixes. Ugh.

In the IBC 35 the team lost in the first play-off round against Drawkland.

After the implosion of the Ko-orenite Basketball League, the sport (barely) survived on small courts in big cities. Twelve clubs have emerged in a new national league, representing three urban areas. The Capital Cities (Maethoru, Mayara, Gehrenna, Senoren), Aminey (Lunay, Ouleux, Couziers/Linieux, Étouille), and Finisterre (Ferrovente, Miradela, Montelo, Serramonte). Should the league be a success (which, as proposed, doesn't contain three separate conferences but dumps all teams in one table), there are plans to restructure and expand the league. Aided by half the IBC 17 and 20 rosters as staff, Ko-oren is back for a slow ascent up the ranks again.

While they might not be underdogs in literally every game, the rankings pretend like this team has a lot more individual skill than it actually has. The three - by far - most talented players are Canton, Melanson, and Sarmazenindhen, and unfortunately all of them are small forwards. That means you might occasionally see them pop up at other positions, taking over PF or SG, while all three try to have the most time on the court. Our results depend on them linking up despite relying on roughly the same skills. Gunausinthen (PG) is arguably the 4th best player. The Centre position is quite weak, so Bernard (or Runeldherinthen, if a SF plays PF) may take over in some cases. This team will probably lose most rebound battles (but not necessarily by a lot), so it relies on getting the job done before it gets to that - blocks, steals on defence, well-executed plays and accuracy on the first FG attempt per play on offence.

The league has since expanded to 48 teams - by far the largest in Ko-oren - with the new players on the new teams slowly breaking through into the NT. Croyster, Tibzerara, Ikemitsu, and Tanamula are from the newer clubs.

Nova Anglicana Lions National Basketball Team

Offensive Style: Death Lineup/Small Ball/Versatile/Pace and Space
Defensive Style: Press/Junk
Style Modifier (if applicable): +3.5
Captain: Duncan Muir
Colors: Red and White Home, Blue and White Away
Arena: National Arena (doubles as hockey stadium)
Arena Location: Londinium
Arena Capacity: 14,000
Head Coach: Lawrence Roberts
Assistant Coaches: Mark Long, Brad Walsh

Roster

Starters

G #3 Duncan Muir, 6'2, 29 - is a slasher, has great awareness on the court, but can be outmuscled on defense
G #8 Clement Villeneuve, 6'5, 28 - excellent catch-and-shoot guy, has a knack for getting open, driving has improved, but still needs to work on his defense
G #12 Simon Moran, 6'5, 27 - came in as 3-and-D kind of guy, but has blossomed into strong all-around player, hard-nosed worker
F #25 Philip Meyer, 6'8, 28 - absolute grinder down below, cleans up around the net, great rebounder on offense and defense
F #27 Eli Rose, 6'9, 27 - slender Rose is somewhat of a point-forward type, pass-first guy who is excellent at finding the open man, can be dangerous on pick-and-pop

Reserves
G #14 Julian Thornton, 6'4, 24 - bombs away from 3 for this sharpshooter, not much of a defender, but more down to technique than lack of ability
G #35 David Beck, 6'5, 23 - aggressive on defense, sometimes too aggressive, but can pour it in on the offensive end from 2 or 3, not a great driver
G #17 Rex McKinney, 6'6, 32 - you might think he's a bit oversized for a guard, but he's slender and quick, annoying on defense, especially against smaller player
G #10 Félix Dedeaux, 6'3, 25 - Quebecois youngster is a pure point guard, Roberts says he's got the highest basketball IQ of anybody on the team, a wizard with the ball, slowly building more of an offensive game
F #32 Greg Lindsey, 6'7, 24 - high-flying player reminds many of former Lions star Kelvin Braxton, very athletic, great rebounder, slasher, pesky on D, not much of a jump shot
F #22 Marc-Antoine Bolduc, 6'9, 22 - improving three-point game, but much more of a face-up and jump shot or drive kind of a guy, can get pushed around on D, but very quick as well
C #48 Danny Cohen, 6'11, 26 - silky-smooth jumper for a big guy, strong on defense, will mainly play if opposing team heavily features a big guy or as goalie in pressing situations

Playing Style

The Lions continue their small ball lineup, with one player in the starting lineup and only three players on the entire team taller than 6'8. They want to spread the floor and force opponents to switch on defense to either create bad matchups for driving past taller, slower players, or shooting 3s over smaller defenders. They run whenever possible, and try to use their superior pace and stamina to wear out opposing defenses. They can drive, but their true strength is outside shooting. On defense, it starts with a 1-2-1-1 3/4 to full-court zone press that attempts to wear down opposing offenses, force them to burn the shot clock before setting up their offense, and to create turnovers. If the press fails, they typically fall back into a 3-2 matchup zone as the basic defense. However, the defense typically changes several times during the game, with the Lions showing a 2-3 against inside teams, a 1-3-1 if they want to trap and cause havoc, a triangle-and-two with Moran and Muir glued to the two best players, a box-and-one with Moran in the terrier role chasing all over the court, or even a man-to-man if the situation calls for it. They also substitute frequently to maintain the pace of play and adapt their defense to the personnel they have and the opponents' personnel. It's a smart and athletic team, if not a particularly big one.

Competitions: IBC 32, IBC 34
Head Coach: Billy Garrett, 55 years old

Home court: RANPAC Arena, Ranoria City, Ranoria
Capacity: 18,750
Location: Ranoria City
Demonym: Ranorian

Captains: Reiner Anneliese, Daniele Eveline
Best All Round: Reiner Anneliese
Best 3-Point: Daniele Eveline
Best Defender: Julian Viola
The Ranoria Snow Bears are back and ready for action. The team debuted and managed to not embarrass themselves in IBC 32 after finding an identity on the back of backup Bertolt Hali's mantra: "Defense is for nerds," and came back strong by making the IBC 34 playoffs.

Veteran Reiner Anneliese is still the best player on this squad and is more than capable of being a problem at every level of the game. He's in his prime and more than talented enough to at least compete with just about anyone, but he's got some help. Center Alexander Edith is an emerging force domestically, but two other players have really caught the eye of those here at home in Julian Viola and Daniele Eveline. Viola is a new-school power forward, versatile, fast, and at least capable of contributing on offense while Eveline proved to be lethal in college as a human highlight reel. Both are playing abroad in Quebec now that they've left the college ranks. Joining them is Astor François, an incredibly physically talented youngster coming off one of the strongest NSCAA campaigns any Ranorian team has ever seen.

In terms of other returners, Billy Garrett is of course back as the head coach, nobody else has the audacity to think they can turn this dumpster fire around, and versatile forward Bellator Miller is still slotting in at his position. Ophelia Carter is still around despite taking a backseat to François. And of course the voice of this team's philosophy, Bertolt Hali, is still on the roster...somehow. Also notable is Kaiser Belfort, a top-level Renown heavyweight and an RFL inside linebacker - speculation is that he's here to knockout anyone who's playing to dirty. While we can't confirm this, seeing him shot or try and dribble a basketball is depressing, so we're going with our theory.

Stadium Info: RANPAC Arena, Ranoria City, Ranoria
Capacity: 18,750

Image

A cozy arena located in the largest city (but not the capitol!) of Ranoria, RANPAC arena will serve as the venue for the Snow Bears for the third consecutive edition that they've participated in.

The surrounding city is thriving with Quebecois-influenced nightlife, restaurants claiming to serve "Banijan" foods, as well as other attractions in Ranoria's largest city. Visitors should keep in mind that while marijuana and alcohol are legal, tobacco and other recreational drugs are not. Not to worry, most offenses regarding such substances will result in nothing more than a slap on the wrist.

Overall - it's worth planning a weekend getaway rather than just a trip to the big game, but either way you'll leave satisfied!

Center: Julian Viola
Age: 22 years
Height: 6'10"
Weight: 230
Best Attribute: Defense

Julian Viola's first minutes of professional basketball came in IBC 34, but he was a stud in his collegiate days and beat out the more experienced Alexander Edith for the starting role. Viola's size and speed create matchup problems with typically larger centers, and he's able to contribute offensively. Averaged 10+ rebounds, 16.6 points, and 2.3 steals per game in his final year of school. Viola's a solid defender playing in the QBL, and he'll continue to be a contributor here. Behind him, Alexander Edith is likely to get plenty of minutes as a big man as well.

Power Forward: Astor François
Age: 22
Height: 6'6"
Weight: 240
Best Attribute: Jumping/Dunking

Astor François takes the talented Ophelia Carter's spot here and without much difficulty. François came out of Ranoria State as one of the most exciting Ranorian basketball prospects to ever grace the court, and it likely won't be long before he's the star of the show for us here. For now, he's likely to be the running mate for Reiner Anneliese, but expect plenty of flash. François is remarkably smooth, and makes it all look easy. That talent comes with arrogance though - he's young, bone headed mistakes will come.

Behind him, Ophelia Carter is a 3 point shooter who can come in and get a spark when she gets minutes.

Small Forward: Bellator Miller
Age: 31
Height: 6'7"
Weight: 240
Best Attribute: Versatile

Miller's the oldest starter on the lineup and a true veteran. Good defender who's mostly going to try and score inside the paint but is willing and able to pull back for a mid range or perimeter shot if it's open. He's likely not going to wow anyone with his play but he's rarely a liability.

Shooting Guard: Reiner Anneliese
Age: 30
Height: 6'7"
Weight: 235
Best Attribute: Versatile

While it should be noted that he is by no means the best player in this competition or even in that conversation, Anneliese is one of the best to ever come out of Ranoria and can dominate in every phase of the game. Whether it's distributing the ball to open teammates, slowing down elite scorers, or racking up points, Anneliese is the engine that drives this team and he's capable of competing with anyone in the world. If the Snow Bears are going to pull off a successful run, it'll be on his back.

Point Guard: Daniele Eveline
Age: 21
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 180
Best Attribute: 3-Point Shooting

Daniele Eveline's the best shooter on the squad. If she's left open, she's money from even a few feet outside the three point line. Decent enough ball handling to occasionally get herself open, but generally needs a good distributor to really take advantage of her capabilities. Eveline's dedicated to improving, and smart to boot. She graduated high school at 16 years old with an associate's degree and zipped through collegiate basketball while showing an outstanding growth curve. She's now playing overseas in Quebec - she's the main three point shooter here, and can stretch the field for in-the-paint scorers like Francois and Anneliese.

Her third stringer, Kaiser Belfort, has one job - take people out of the game if they're playing too dirty. Under no circumstances will be see the court if not for that purpose. It might be a dirty tactic, but he's there to ensure the safety of these stars.

STARTERS
PG Kristie Shaddon-Ysenov

Young Kristie Shaddon-Ysenov takes over for the departed Park, having carried the Rhinos almost single-handedly back to the playoffs. Great off the offensive glass, a mean midrange jumper and ever-prowling eyes make Shaddon-Ysenov one of the more exciting point guards in the CBA. Her game from range is starting to improve, and her eye for the open man makes her a must-watch player, though the team will still run through Lia Xiu.

SG Lia Xiu, CAPTAIN

The team's leading scorer, Xiu is a natural shooter who can explode for more than thirty points a game on the regular. Whether it be driving at the rim, shooting from midrange, or draining threes, she can do it all - and she's now in her prime. In the last season of the CBA, she won the MVP and the finals MVP again, averaging more than 36.1 points a game. If the Penguins make it far, she will be the primary reason why. As the Penguins adjust to life without Park, it's the presence of Lia that make them a world-class threat still.

SF Anidra Roxanoff

Often regarded as not much of a scorer, Roxanoff's presence is felt more at the boards, helping with the rebounding game. She does have a sweet midrange jumper, and she is known in the Chromatik Basketball scene as Foxy Roxie due to her ability to come through in the clutch. Don't pay much attention to how many points she scores; pay more attention to when she scores those key baskets.

PF Anton Vatnav

A season veteran by this point, Vatnav repeated as the best three-point shooter in the CBA last season, hitting on 42.9% of attempts. His sweet spot is from the left side, but when he gets hot, he can single-handedly change the tempo of a game. His only major knock is the lack of experience, but that will come with time. He is one of the reasons why the Hurons will likely be the team to dethrone the Saints in the near future.

C Maude Zwaheil

The best defender on the squad, as well as the leading rebounder, Zwaheil has led the CBA in rebounds for five straight seasons while also improving her free-throw percentage, which is over seventy percent now. A good night for Maude is twenty boards and seven points.

BENCH
PG Zachary Chesevsky

An all-rounder who is a threat for a triple-double every time he is on the court, Chesevsky's rise has been overshadowed by Shaddon-Ysenov's potential and brilliance. If she falters, or if the team needs a different kind of presence, he's available. The best part? He knows how to remain unnoticed and play for the team.

SG Jordan Merkoff

Jordan Merkoff has tremendous stamina and an endless motor. He is the busiest busybody in the squad, and likes to have at least one of every item that stats track by the end of every game. It's a thankless job, but he appreciates the challenge.

SF Howard Dwyer

Capable of a hot hand for a good stretch per game, Dwyer can be called upon in key situations to turn the tide.

PF Michaelangelo Chouster

A more defensive option, Chouster doesn't score much, but excels in removing the biggest threat from the opposition.

C Mack Eduardson

An offensive Center? More common than you would think - Mack Eduardson tends to be decent off the glass but loves to dunk over people and smear it on their face.

RESERVES

G Kim Hae-Ri

A purely aggressive guard who does not mind drawing fouls or contact every time she drives to the net, her liability is her inability to contribute on the defensive end.

F Ishani Hauntzer

Master of the small ball, a player who dishes assists first before scoring.

Strategy:
The Chromatik Team focuses on solid ball-handling and clean transition play, with an emphasis on always running the clock down whenever possible. This means that there aren't as many fast breaks, instead focusing on time of possession and making every possession count. They plan a zone on defense, and are rather good at deflecting shots but not very good at causing turnovers. This team's tentative goal is to make the Quarterfinals.

Stadium Info

Ashmark Arena, New Hind City

Ashmark Arena, was established in the early days of the First Baskar Kumar Presidentship. It was established as the office of Indussean Basketball Federation and was named IBF Arena. A basketball court was later built making it the nation's home arena. Nathaniel Ashmark, the president of Indussean Basketball Federation then decided to renovate the arena and turn it into an international standard stadium with enough features and courts. Ashmark is known to be the one who lead the Basketball Renaissance in Indusse. Records state that basketball would've not seen light in Indusse if Ashmark wasn't around. The renovation of the arena was completed a week after the unexpected death of Nathaniel Ashmark, who died in a car accident while driving from Riveria to New Hind City. The President of Indusse decided to name the newly renovated arena as Ashmark Arena in memorial of Late. Nathaniel Ashmark and his contribution to Indussean Basketball.

The Arena is located to the eastern end of New Hind Sports City, the same sport city which is home to Indussean Sports Federations and the Soccer and Tennis home grounds. With a maximum capacity of 22,000 spectators, the stadium only allows 20,000 spectators per match. The Arena contains the head office of IBF, three practice courts, twenty two rooms for the players or guests to stay, special VIP galleries, Press rooms, five seperate dressing rooms with one specially reserved for the home team.

Assistant Managers | Natalie Stueck, Tobias Acker
Fitness Coaches | Reinhold Herzog, Petra Mattsen
Jakob Kaiser - Kaiser is the rising hotshot of the national team, known for his two-way skillset, especially when it comes to three-point shooting and spacing the floor. Kaiser stands at 6'3" and weighs around 89 kg. After leading the national squad to a decent debut in IBC 34, he hopes that he can lead the team further in this edition. Despite being only 24, he already has quite the resume for the Hall of Fame; Kaiser has already won the ROTY, MVP, and Final's MVP.

Anders Martikainen - Drafted only a year after Jakob Kaiser, Martikainen is Kaiser's sidekick, destroying defenses with his agility and three-level scoring ability. He is also recognized as the league's best shooter, and is predicted to be considered the BEST shooter of all time once he hangs up the laces. Martikainen has won an MIP and an ROTY award. Martikainen stands at 6'4" and weighs 96 kg.

Aron Andersson - Andersson has always been recognized as one of Tjorl's best players, yet he never had a supporting cast strong enough to contend for the TBA Championship. Excellent at the mid-range, the small forward cannot be left open at any time, or else it is a guaranteed field goal. Andersson is also considered as the lineups best perimeter defender. Andersson stands at 6'9" and weighs 114 kg.

Patrick Teufel - An excellent rebounder, Teufel seems to grab every miss there is. Drafted by the Osterstad Crushers in 2009, he spent 5 years not competing in the playoffs until he was traded to the Konunsfjord Royals, in which he shone brilliantly, leading them to a surprise Championship win in 2016-17. Teufel plays aggressively, and does not back down against who knows how many defenders, thus unofficially gaining the role of enforcer in the team. Teufel stands at 6'11" and weighs 118 kg.

Lorenz Sander - The national squad's tallest player and defensive stalwart, Sander has proven time and time again that defense does win championships, winning with the Afoln Rangers in 2017-18 and 2018-19. Even if his offensive production does not match his defense, Sander has still shown his class in clutch situations, successfully stopping lethal scorers in the final seconds. Sander stands at 7'2" and weighs 122 kg. He has won DPOY twice in his career.

Robert Albertson - Despite the point guard's first-class playmaking ability, he has only made the playoffs a shocking 3 times in his career. As such, Albertson is currently pursuing a trade from the Rasand Beasts. Although he has rarely played in the playoffs, Albertson has provided many iconic moments for the Beasts franchise, including a special game-winner on Lorenz Sander. Albertson stands at 6'2" and weighs 84 kg.

Denis Bachmaier - A respected veteran, Bachmaier has been with the Blades and the national team through thick and thin. Bachmaier was Tjorl's starting shooting guard at the Oatland Basketball Championship, later achieving second place with the squad. He is known for his smart play calling and floor reading, leading to wide open shots. Bachmaier stands at 6'5" and weighs 99 kg.

Gunnar Lewerenz - Lorenz Sander's partner in the frontcourt, Lewerenz is a constant highlight reel, providing the audience with spectacular dunks and acrobatic finishes. He was the Afoln Rangers' star in their dominant championship run in the 2015-16 season. However, a leg injury would sideline him for most of the 2016-17 season, opening the door for the Konunsfjord Royals. While it took Lewerenz quite some time to return to his old form during his recovery, he has provided crucial production for the Rangers in the following seasons. Lewerenz stands at 6'8" and weighs 108 kg.

Veronika Alden - One of the brightest young stars in the WTBA, Alden has constantly shown that defense wins championships, leading the Volanger Valkyries Kvinnerien to a WTBA championship in 2022. A gritty, aggressive, and fierce player, Alden is extremely passionate for the game and the team, and is not afraid of any challenges. Alden is known for her defense and basketball IQ. Alden stands at around 6'8" and weighs 109 kg.

Laura Oldervik - Never leave Oldervik with too much space in the paint, since she her craftiness almost guarantees the two points. She is typically reserved and quiet, and prefers to not speak a lot towards the media. Her wingspan also gifts her with good rim protection, constant frustrating the opposing offense. She may be stuck at a 'meh' team right now, but many WTBA teams are undoubtably going to pursue her in the upcoming free agency period. Oldervik stands at around 6'11" and weighs 114 kg.

Mats Nystrom - Nystrom is known for his defense than his offense. He has won the steals title twice already in his four-year career so far. Nystrom is quite quick, agile, and has a vertical leap of around 40 to 45 inches. His defensive ability and athleticism has helped the Volanger Valkyries time and time again, including an amazing second-round victory over the Northern Conference's second seed Seidelberg Sparrows, where they won in seven heart-stopping games. Nystrom stands at 6'3" and weighs 94 kg.

Hannah Reishus - Reishus was projected to be a superstar in the WTBA even before she was drafted first overall by the Kjol Knights Damebasketlag. In only two seasons with the team, she has led the Knights to two straight playoff appearances. However, she still hasn't performed well enough to lead them out of the second round. Reishus is known for her shooting ability and her tenacity on perimeter defense. Reishus stands at around 6'7" and weighs 104 kg.

This will be Abanhfleft's twenty-first time participating in the International Basketball Championships. It's The End of An Era 2: Electric Boogaloo. Jazz Higgs couldn't win a second IBC, but yet again there's a new generation of basketball players who want to do their country proud after 26 years of waiting. But will it actually happen this time? Or is it just yet more pain and suffering?

HOME STADIUM (The Fleftic Arena, Riuwiee)
Image
Presenting the Fleftic Arena, the largest indoor arena by seating capacity in the Democratic Republic of Abanhfleft

Situated in the north of Abanhfleft's capital city of Riuwiee is the National Sports Park, a 140-hectare "special national designated area" in which a majority of Riuwiee's sporting facilities are located. Standing out among the stadia and gymnasia is the massive and imposing structure and flat roof of the Fleftic Arena, officially the largest indoor stadium in the whole of Abanhfleft with its official stated capacity of 100,786 seated spectators for indoor sports. The structure broke ground on September 26, 2009 as part of the capital city's reconstruction efforts following the aftermath of the Holy Catholic Revolution of 2008 which left nearly the entirety of Riuwiee devastated, and construction was completed over three years later in 2012. The Fleftic Arena is the official home arena of the Abanhfleft national basketball team and has played host to dozens of matches during the International Basketball Championships. Aside from that, the Riuwiee Presidents of the Fleftic Basketball Association occasionally uses the Fleftic Arena as its home stadium when it plays marquee match-ups against well-known teams from the league such as the Malabon Black Ops or the Markovsky Red Army, taking advantage of the arena's huge capacity when the capacity of their usual home stadium, the Sterling Arena, is deemed to be not enough for games of such popularity. Aside from that, the Fleftic Arena has also played host to at least four FBA All-Star Weekends since its inauguration and opening in 2012.

As for the stadium's location, Riuwiee is the capital city of Abanhfleft and is home to over 20 million people. The Fleftic people are very crazy and passionate about basketball, and even though their home side the Riuwiee Presidents has been disappointing in the FBA as of late, the fans still come out in droves to support and cheer for their team.

Net Corps redux

DRAWKLAND NATIONAL BASKETBALL TEAM (NET CORPS)

CHAMPIONS, International Basketball Championships 25
Runners-Up, International Basketball Championships 27
CHAMPIONS, International Basketball Championships 28

Name: Net Corps
Colors: Black with Crimson trim
Denonyms: Drawkian or Drawkish, personal preference
SEVENTEENTH IBC, Rank #12

Basketball is an avid sport in Drawkland, with huge cheering crowds and near-constantly playing pep bands the norm. If you've never been to a basketball game in Drawkland, you may want to bring a pair of earplugs. Or two. You'll need them.

As you may notice, the Drawkian team is pretty tall, as far as height goes. This is perfectly natural for Drawkians, as the national height average is 7'5" (they're not related to humans evolutionarily besides the shape and proportions and such). They also may seem like they're "middle-aged," but that's wrong. In fact, most professional Drawkian athletes don't retire until around the age of 50, since the average lifespan is around 150.

After having their best group stage in their history in IBC 24, the Net Corps went on to get annihilated in the Round of 16 for the fifth straight time (once by Royal Kingdom of Quebec, once by Vangaziland, once Abaja, once by Ceni, and once by Banija). Finally, they decided they weren't going to take no for an answer. A decade of playoff disappointment took a heel-turn as the Corps made an unprecedented run to the championship game. Drawkland won the game in convincing fashion to Royal Kingdom of Quebec, and finally claimed the title of IBC Champions.

While they lost in the semifinals of IBC 26 to the team they defeated in the previous semifinals, Newmanistan, they still had the skill to make a deep playoff run. And that they did, by making it to the finals of IBC 27 against Vangaziland. Unfortunately, Vangaziland was the outright better squad and took the series in two straight games. The Net Corps was far from out of the mix, though. Despite the short format and taking a loss in the group stage, Drawkland stormed through the IBC 28 playoffs and defeated Vangaziland by 30 points in the final to capture their second title. Drawkland hoped to go back-to-back with IBC 29, but fell short in overtime to Banija in the semifinals.

The IBC 30 campaign featured a first for the Net Corps ... a quarterfinal loss. This kicked off a new era in Net Corps history, one of floundering in the playoffs. In IBC 31, Drawkland went 2-2 in the second group stage, and had to settle for a "13th place win" against Quebec in the consolation playoffs. IBC 32 was yet another quarterfinal loss, this one against Valanora. Finally, in IBC 33, the Corps did something they hadn't done since their first tournament in IBC 19 ... miss the playoffs entirely. With that, longtime coach Cody Morgan and his staff was shown the door, and the aging Net Corps was collectively given the boot.

Originally, DISC was going to hire a new coach and assemble a new squad from scratch. Then, some "genius" came up with a "better" idea: let the Elite Eleven have a shot! Their IBC 34 campaign went decently. They made it to the playoffs and won a game in the Round of 24 before falling in the next round. Still, their performance was decent enough, and DISC was satisfied. The Elite didn't want to return to a playing position, but a few of them said they'd be willing to stick around as coaches.

Squad comments: Basketball in Juvencus is fast-paced attacks using superior speed due to smaller-than-average builds. Positioning is important both in offence and defence and the team relies mostly on close-range shots with the occassional clutch long-ranger, if needed. Several changes were implemented but a lot of international veterans from previous tournaments will still be roaming the pitch, guiding the younger ones to play better.

Being an interim manager of a team is one thing.

Whether your tenure is one match or several, you have a small sample size to put an imprint on a team unless you know the regular person is coming back. And even then, you know there is a limited amount of things you can do with a team when you aren't sure if you're going to be The Person.

Joy Knight had that experience after she briefly took over for the fired Thomas Manningham during the International Basketball Championships a while back. When the Incorporated Basketball Federation backtracked and gave Manningham his old job back, and thus, saw the return of longtime assistant Mario Bengtsen, who refused to take over for his close friend Manningham after he was fired, it meant she was returning to her role as one of the assistants. After Manningham and Bengtsen both departed the programme, the Stars decided to turn to Knight.

Now she enters with one holdover from Manningham's staff, assistant Kyle Trenton. He now becomes the lead assistant and he's joined in the managerial staff by Thomas West, the eldest son of the late Henry West and oldest brother of star guard Mike West. When Knight was asked if Thomas West's presence on the staff felt like a threat, she shook her head.

"I wanted him to join the staff," she said. "He was my first choice." She added that she lobbied the IBF for the hire, and she felt very strongly that family ties would be important as Mike West continues to honour the memory of Henry West.

"I think Thomas and Mike can both find support in each other," she said. "Henry was a big part of the Sarzonian basketball programme during our glory days and he was a big part of why Thomas and Mike both are involved in the game of basketball," she said. Knight hesitated for a moment, realising she was going to say Henry West was a big part of both Thomas's and Mike's lives as their father, but realised that he spent so much time courtside that he missed a few graduations, recitals and the like.

It wasn't going to be a mistake Knight would repeat. She said she planned to be there for her twin children's milestones, dance recitals, plays and other events.

"Basketball is important in the moment," she said, "but is it really that important in the grand scheme of things if you're a parent and you're missing the birth of a child, their high school graduation, their prom, and other events? Those are times you never get back." She added that she figured her children would understand her missing milestones like those when they got older, but she added that she knew first hand that resentment would still bubble under the surface.

"I was the daughter of a basketball manager myself," she said. "My father wasn't there for my first dance recital. He didn't go to any of my plays and my college graduation happened during the first round of the [Sarzonian Basketball League] playoffs. I was always expected to understand. He also told me, 'you'll understand when you're older' when he missed my middle school prom.

"I never forgave him for that," she said. Ronald Knight died two years ago. Joy Knight missed the funeral as she was preparing for the second group stage matchup between Sarzonia and Banija.

About Muralos
Muralos is a collection of islands in the Far East known as Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands. It is home to a population of Russian, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and indigenous (Ainu, Nivkh, and Orok) origins. The official language of Muralos is Esperanto- a language designed to be universal and easy to learn- but the population is exceptionally multilingual, with each citizen knowing an average of 4 languages.

About the Muralosian National Basketball Team
The Muralosian national basketball team is entirely new to multiversal competition; however, both men's and women's teams have existed since 1975, and both have competed regularly against the national teams of Asian Archipelago nations, including New Zhengguo, the Hainan Union, and the former nations of Fengjie, Li Qing, and Jiadao. As with the Muralosian national soccer team, the new Muralosian national basketball team is a consolidation of the men's and women's teams for the purpose of multiversal competition.

The head coach of the Muralosian national basketball team is Alexander Lasko, the first Muralosian basketball player to play overseas, first in the Soviet Union and later in the United States – two countries not generally recognized by the larger multiverse, but nevertheless extremely important to Muralosian history and politics. Rie Nishimura and Han Kim serve as assistant coaches.

Most of the Muralosian basketball team members play in Muralos. Some have expressed playing elsewhere in the multiverse, while others are content to remain within the Muralosian corner of the multiverse, or are otherwise unsure about playing overseas.

The Muralosian national basketball team's style is difficult to place into a box. The team prioritizes quick ball movement, but also has individual players create space and be a bit selfish, drawing the occasional foul. In a national team game, you may see a point guard lob the ball across the court (yes, we are still talking about basketball), but you may also see some surprisingly conservative, carefully considered passes. Perhaps risk-taking and beauty are favored in Muralosian basketball over safety and practicality, but it's not to say that the latter two traits are thrown out the window.

(Image link)

Roster of the Muralosian National Basketball Team
Center - Arseny Rudenko - Havenurbo Cruisers (Muralos) - Rudenko stands at 6'8" (203 cm.) and is an extremely dominant, extremely versatile presence in the Muralosian Basketball League, averaging 29 points per game, 20 rebounds per game, and 0.8 blocks per game in his ten-year career. Rudenko has won three league titles, two with CSKA Urbego-Basket and one with the Havenurbo Cruisers, his current team. (Alternates: Stefano Lee, Rebeka Nikiforova, Xiang Li)

Power forward - Kotaro Yang - CSKA Urbego-Basket (Muralos) - a generally unselfish player who can nevertheless turn up the heat when needed, relying on a consistent, quick-release jumper and an explosive dunking ability. In the Muralosian Basketball League, Yang led in assists from 2016 to 2020, averaging 9.3 assists per game. Like Muralosian national soccer team coach Jozefo Koltakov, Yang is a graduate of the preparatory school of the Félicien de Menil Conservatory of Music, where he studied violin. He often jokes that the Conservatory boasts "the best sports program in Muralos to never exist." (Alternates: Maria Lerta, Turushino, Ruixi Chen)

Small forward - Lidik - CSKA Urbego-Basket Women's (Muralos) - Lidik has impressive range, being nearly unstoppable from three but also unafraid to drive up to the basket. Currently in her first season with CSKA Urbego-Basket, Lidik set multiple records during her four years playing for the University League team at Urbego National University. (Alternates: Phillip Zhong, Rikardo Liang, Tatiana Demidenko)

Shooting guard - Armando Rodriguez Zhang - Haikou JLB (The Hainan Union) - Born to a Peruvian Muralosian father and a Hainanese mother, Rodriguez holds dual nationality with the Hainan Union, where he has played professional basketball for his entire career so far. His play style is characterized by physicality and range in equal parts. In the 23rd annual exhibition game between Haikou JLB and CSKA Urbego-Basket, Rodriguez led the Hainanese team to a 113-79 win, with 55 points, 12 rebounds, and 9 assists. TROLLEBORG NATIONAL TEAM

Before the championship reigns of the team again was entrusted to the national leader Vladimir Finn, on whom fans right now pinned their hopes for a success, voted for him overwhelmlingly when it was time to select coach. National leader made some serious changes in the squad, move elders players aside and put many fresh faces right on the lineup, which was as follows:

Point Guards
Soren Lundestrom (27 y.o.)
Per Hagelstrom (26)

Shooting Guards
Torstein Hakken (26)
Leider Grin (24)

Center
Morten Pesoglavec (25)
Brutil Mogren (27)

Power Forwards
Fergal Finni (26)
Jesper Trond (25)

Small Forwards
Ruud Semper (25)
Arte Drakeson (25)

Team played in all-green (first kit) and all-white (second one).

Style –5

Usually team behave very conservative, on the verge of avoiding physical contacts at all, but head coach worked hard to instill some new concepts in the players minds and right now players fight for a ball much more vigorously.

My opponents, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my scorers: Y
Godmod scoring events: N
RP injuries to my players: Y
Godmod Injuries to my players: N
Suspend my players: Y
Godmod suspension events: N
Godmod other events: N (usually not, but if you have something interesting in mind, let me know and we try to find middle ground)

Trolleborg also decide to put forward one of the arenas as a venue for a tournament.
After much consideration, choice of both association and fans was Torfinn Arena in Murnau, with a capacity of 17000 spectators
Image.

Murnau is the second biggest city in the country, first time try to have honor to host international games, and locals full of the desire to make this event maximally memorable for everyone. Arena located near the sea in a place with a rather spectacular view, and have good subway connection with both historical center, transport hubs and resort area futher to the south and bus lines for almost every possible destination of the city. City has a hotels of every sort and price category, from the caves to the five-stars hotels, and many historical monuments of note, with a flourishing cultural scene.

Participants can use Trolleborg International Airport, where all international flights arrive, and can move to Murnau by high-speed railways (hour-and-half) or by air (slightly less than forty-five minutes).

Basketball in Magnecia: Basketball is one of the most popular sports in Magnecia. It ranks either in the second or in the third position, being definitely behind football and tying with baseball in terms of it's popularity. One of the features of basketball in Magnecia is that the sport has traditionally been almost entirely played in the urban areas, thus it falters in front of football in terms of popularity in rural areas. The Magnecian Basketball Association is the governing body for basketball in Magnecia, and it controls the Magnecian National basketball team. The National Basketball League is the top level, independent league for basketball in Magnecia. It is one of the richest leagues in the country( behind the Magnecian Premier League, the topmost league for football), and attracts a sizeable attendance per match. Up till the 34th edition, the MBA has never sent an international team to the IBC, because of strong opposition from the NBL which claims that the clash of schedules between the two tournaments will prove detrimental to it's own cause. Magnecia has participated in the Alesdian(regional) Basketball Championship since it's beginning, winning it the most number of times(7 times). This time, massive demands from the angry fans, who threatened to boycott the NBL, has lead to the league removing it's objection, thus making way for Magnecia to participate in their first ever IBC in history in the 34th edition. After decent runs in the tournaments, the MBA has once again sent a team to the IBC, but this time there is a catch. The national team chosen for IBC 35 is composed of the very best players of the MBL, unlike the previous times when average or below average players were chosen for the team.

JUVEN STADIUM HOST BID FOR THE FIRST GROUP STAGES OF IBC 35

ARENA DELMONS, SCUDELLI(Capacity: 20,000)
Image

Juvencus' presence in international basketball has been limited, with sporadic appearances ever since the mid-20's versions and afterwards. Domestically, basketball is not as popular a sport as the likes of football, athletics or even handball but it has a significant following. Such a significant following exists in urban areas where it is known as a summer/dry season sport. With that in mind, the Juven Basketball Association has decided to increase its presence by creating a host bid for the International Basketball Championships' version 35's group stages. That way it will give the chance to more people from Juvencus to experience the true feeling of basketball and perhaps increase the popularity of the sport. The stadium in use will be Arena Delmons, in Scudelli.

Arena Delmons is an iconic multiple-use stadium located in the Delmons quarter of Scudelli, Juvencus' second largest city. Arena Delmons has been the host of significant local basketball events and finals. One such event is the annual National Youth Basketball Championship on which teams from all over Juvencus gather up to crown the best youth academy in Juvencus. It also serves as the home ground of the Scudelli Destroyers, one of the teams of Campionato di Juvencus di Basket(now Juvenoscioru Basketball League). A team with a significant following that gives the stadium a distinct feeling unmatched by any other of its kind in Juvencus.
