BRENECIA
World Ranking:
Like 30th? Top 30, just about
Preferred Formation: 4-3-3
Backup Formations: 4-2-3-1
Style Modifier: -1
Home Stadium: Kingsgarden - a 58,000 all-seater in the capital of Rozelle.
Kit Supplier: ediraf
Nickname: the Patriots

After the failure of Sienna Fallon to get acceptable results in the World Cup - though far from her fault - she proved an easy scapegoat, and was axed. Derdriu Wright's in, and she's swept a number of veterans out the door to try and blood a new generation of talent. They're far from certain to reach the World Cup, and qualification is going to be a serious battle. Wright's job is simple: get their shit together, and hash out a few decent results.

First Team and Tactics
Image
Raised on lumpy grass pitches, waterlogged and potholed, Brenecian footballers tend to grow physical, disciplined and tough to break down, and this iteration of the national pool is no exception. Yet, they lack out-and-out goal threat after the international retirement of professional egomaniac Lauren Cheney. Brenecia will not be prolific, aiming mostly to break teams down in the centre of the park and attack very directly, with long balls and hard running the norm. Byrne and Carpenter offer something a little different on the wings, natural Plan Bs, with overlapping fullbacks tasked to whip in crosses.

Staff
Manager - Derdriu Wright - Age 52
Asst. Manager - Hendry Jackson - Age 47

An intelligent, well-read and softly-spoken woman, Wright likes a slightly more open style of play than her predecessors, but recognises that Brenecia's talents lie largely towards the back and will play to those strengths. She has high standards of her players and has been accused in the past of burning them out; will this translate well to international football's short stints and high turnover, or will she be unable to get her ideas across? Few expect her to revolutionise the game, but she's seen as a safe and unambitious pair of hands for the medium-term.

Goalkeepers
1 - GK - Anthea Finnan (Image Holdenberg City) - Age 31 - 23 caps, 5 clean sheets
Endearingly twitchy, and quick on her feet. Finnan's rise has been thoroughly deserved, and she's overcome a number of career setbacks to put herself in the driver's seat as a successor to Wright. Inconsistent form during qualifiers has pegged her back in the pecking order, though.

12 - GK - Sorcha Tanner (Image Southern Star) - Age 26 - 5 caps, 3 clean sheets
A strong and well-balanced goalkeeper, commanding in the air and rarely erring. She's not a top-class goalkeeper, as Brenecia had become used to with Woodgate and Wright, but she's consistent.

20 - GK - Cairbre Dundalk (Image North Laithland) - Age 31 - 2 caps, 1 clean sheet
Despite being 5'8" - with all the weakness in the air that entails - Dundalk's made a name for himself as a brilliant reflex stopper who never lets errors get him down.

Defenders
2 - RB - Clovette Bravender (Image Ulsa) - Age 29 - 90 caps, 5 goals
Bravender's combination of blinding pace, limitless energy and enthusiastic slinging of crosses into the box were evident from the start; it's only in her mid-20s that she was able to match it with sharp and excellent defending at the other end, making her a superb generalist.

3 - CB/LB - Triss Roscommon (Image Revolutionaries) - Age 32 - 96 caps, 5 goals
A slender fullback, poised, technical and intelligent. The best fullbacks know when to hold 'em and fold 'em, and when to run (constantly); Roscommon has all these gifts and more, as any midfielder would be proud to have her passing range with her left. A born leader, this is likely her last World Cup, and she was shifted to centre-back late in qualifying.

5 - CB - Finn Leadbetter (Image Holdenberg) - Age 33 - 134 caps, 16 goals
A colossal defender who loves to put a bit of stick about. The art of defending and the joy of defending remain alive whenever Leadbetter is on the pitch. A serious destroyer of men in either box, and a genuine threat in set pieces.

6 - CB - Casey Giltanan (Image Workers Union) - Age 28 - 98 caps, 5 goals
Giltanan's mixture of composure on the ball and bloody-mindedness off it have successfully papered over occasional lapses in concentration to make her a high-class centre-half, but those lapses have prevented her from quite cresting the heights some thought her capable of. Fairly or not, she is in some ways emblematic of this era of Brenecian football, despite her stellar service.

17 - RB - Felice Lovibond (Image Kingsgrove) - Age 27 - 14 caps
Lean, arrogant, promiscuous, heavily inked-up and outspoken on social media, Lovibond is a bit... shag, when it comes down to it. But she's from an affluent Rozelle old-money family, so perhaps it's some kind of a delinquent thing. She's an intelligent all-round fulback, more comfortable advancing the play than simply whipping a cross in.

18 - CB - Iucharba Killen (Image Guilder) - Age 24 - 1 cap
Capped once in qualifying, Killen is here to make up the numbers after an injury to Athelney Shrine. A brutish powerhouse.

22 - LB - Mynah Seeler (Image Southern Star) - Age 26 - 23 caps
A deft, pacy fullback, Seeler's minuscule size helps her slip beneath notice as.she goes on daring runs down the flank. But she's no less diligent at the back. The kind of player who can seemingly spend ninety minutes sprinting, with the attitude to want to.

Midfielders
4 - HM / CM - Ronan Schofield (Image Olympia Borograd) - Age 28 - 79 caps, 2 goals
An unnervingly commanding presence in the middle of the park, Schofield is oddly effortless in all his motions, whether in sweeping passes from flank to flank, or deftly bullying opponents out of possession. Yet he never quite convinced at the highest level, and RCU sold him on after years of good but not excellent service. Still, RCU are one thing, the Patriots quite another, and he's among the first names on the teamsheet.

7 - RW - Kendra Carpenter (Image Wirr Tsi) - Age 27 - 42 caps, 11 goals
A classy, elegant winger who has worked hard for every sniff of football she's had, and will take no chance for granted. Energetic and fearless, Carpenter won't feel the weight of that number 7; the kind of player who can leave Northern Union's comfortable nest and keep going from strength to strength.

8 - CM - Iseult Conway (Image Northern Union) - Age 25 - 32 caps, 6 goals
Quick-witted, quick-footed, and always with a smile on her face. Conway is an unflashy but diligent box-to-box shuttler with a hint of the unpredictable, and excels at bringing the ball forward between the lines. Fouls a lot, and always seems to get away with it - though at club level, is that just because she plays for Union?

10 - LW - Katua Byrne (Image KT Itzalovalle) - Age 21 - 36 caps, 17 goals
Byrne's got it all. Top-class pace, fully two-footed, even relishes defensive work pressing high. She's going to go far, and she knows it, forcing a move to Audioslavia to get away from pockmarked Brenecian pitches. The Patriots' top scorer in qualifying and very clearly, by now, the country's best attacking threat.

11 - AM - Felicia Brind (Image Northern Union) - Age 29 - 41 caps, 6 goals
Brind carries on the proud tradition of calling up someone born and raised in Nephara, though at least her incomprehensible Valeside drawl makes her less of an easy flashback to tattooed longbowmen. She's a deft, clever and diligent street footballer, deceptively fast and with an eye for goal.

13 - AM - Consaidin Garrard (Image FK Metropola Borograd) - Age 25 - 33 caps, 10 goals
Athletic and versatile, Garrard burst onto the scene early, able to hold his own against fierce pressure. He's found his place in the squad as a highly mobile danger-man with a beautifully deft first touch, but able to press aggressively to win the ball, a natural fit for Fallon's concussive system.

15 - RW - Niko Longshore (Image Marque) - Age 26 - 4 caps, 1 goal
A dangerous, incisive winger at A-League level, an injury to Mathgamain Fife has thrown Longshore in at the deep end.

16 - LW - Rhona Leonard (Image Kingsgrove) - Age 25 - 5 caps, 2 goals
An unfussy orthodox winger, Leonard tends to go underappreciated. She presses aggressively from the front and would rather set up a teammate than go for goal herself, and can very consistently keep up her intensity for 90 minutes of football.

19 - HM - Kurtis Mikoliunas (Image Mâ Âlâmëómë) - Age 26 - 17 caps
Mikoliunas must break you.

23 - HM - Skaidrina Briggs (Image Southern Star) - Age 22 - 6 caps
Tall, powerful and strong in the tackle, Briggs has a rash, youthful physicality and a tendency to see picking up a caution as indication of a job well done.

Forwards
9 - AM/ST - Mhacha White (Image Farrenton Athletic) - Age 29 - 89 caps, 38 goals
Like Ursula Rankin, White made her way through FC Endeavour's overclocked reserves program, the Centre for Excellence, before seeking regular minutes elsewhere; like Ursula Rankin, she's a boxy poacher with a quick switch of pace and a great eye for turning. But she's tall, and a far more complete forward than Rankin ever was. Of late, Wright has taken to putting her in attacking midfield.

14 - ST - Danand Tristram (Image Northern Stallions) - Age 25 - 30 caps, 10 goals
A powerhouse up front, and a traditional target woman in a way that Brenecia haven't had since the underutilised Fox Charnwood. Tristram is the kind of relentless brawler that doesn't consider a game complete until her elbows have been in at least four faces. In a sense she's the ideal forward for the system, but she's developing a real reputation for missing the target.

21 - ST - Jadwiga Lofthouse (Image Northern Union) - Age 22 - 10 caps, 4 goals
Generally, when Union want a player, they just get one. So when a local rises through the ranks to break through, especially in a key position and at a young age, Brenecians take notice. A towering juggernaut, Lofthouse is certainly old-school but undeniably effective.

CORDIAN NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM
THE NORTH STARS
ALL-TIME RECORD: 7-4-10

The Baptism of Fire was a disappointment for the Cordians, a loss in the quarterfinals when they expected to have a far deeper run than that. The Wonder Cup wasn’t great, but it kept the team warm as they prepared for what is to be a grueling qualifying cycle. The starters are expected to start most of the matches, with the reserves getting a few here and there and the pool players each likely getting at least one start. There are three full elevens on this roster so that in case of injury there will almost always be someone who knows the position to step up and fill the gap.

The team is managed by former World Cup-winning Nepharan NT keeper Diandra Ballard, a manager who brought her club, Leichhardt, to the Nepharan Zenith and the LBCT Quarterfinals before a relegation ended her career there. How the Cordians managed to lure such a well-known player to manage the NT is beyond comprehension, but they did it.

Striker Sebastian Voll
Team: Brenville Blue
Age: 28
Captain
18 caps, 7 goals
Known for his positioning and a hard, accurate shot, Voll has been Brenville's top scorer for three years running. Voll is a perfect leader for the team, his goal lifting them up while his leadership keeps the team together.
Substitute: Jorie Rounds | Jutland Cannons | 23 | 8 caps, 2 goals
Pool: Dineke Leeuwen | AFC Farnworth [TLI] | 27 | 0 caps

Striker Anton Osterholt
Team: Gilded City Dragons
Age: 22
17 caps, 7 goals
Osterholt is very good with his feet, able to completely sell a fake, which has earned him the nickname “Anton Anklebreaker”. He's expected to be the primary scorer on a Dragons team that emphasizes a defensive, conservative approach to football.
Substitute: Ine van Dijck | Creston Wolves | 27 | 9 caps, 1 goal
Pool: Ard Donders | Meadow Ridge Maples | 29 | 0 caps

Left Midfielder Nicholas Eriksen
Team: Cordasfjord FC
Age: 27
18 caps, 3 goals
Eriksen is well-known for his crosses and passing, an important skill for him as he will be responsible for getting the ball into the box from the left side. He played great in the Baptism of Fire, but dropped off a bit in the Wonder Cup.
Substitute: Lucas van Oers | Jutland FC | 24 | 10 caps, 0 goals
Pool: Hilmar Heikkinen | Brenville Blue | 25 | 0 caps

Left Center Midfielder Hannah Andersen
Team: Winchester City [CDG]
Age: 26
17 caps, 3 goals
Great communication allows Andersen to "overcome" a lack of skill more perceived by sports pundits than real, though many of Andersen's best plays have been made with her head rather than her feet. A more defensive-minded midfielder who will not give up the inside of the field, but who can also deliver on offense if needed.
Substitute: Henry Smits | Vikings FC | 27 | 8 caps, 1 goal
Pool: Gertjan Moerman | Creston Wolves | 31 | 0 caps

Right Center Midfielder Bee Karjalainen
Team: Brenville Blue
Age: 28
15 caps, 2 goals
Karjalainen is newer to the team, added after a solid CIFA performance despite being part of the strained two-man Brenville midfield. Karjalainen's best skill is her endurance. She never seems to run out of fuel and it seems like she can be everywhere at once in Brenville. She doesn't have to worry about that in the NT's 4-4-2, but she will be able to cover if desperation hits and the outside midfielders move forward.
Substitute: Erik Pratt | Jutland Cannons | 28 | 8 caps, 0 goals
Pool: Ada Baan | Meadow Ridge Maples | 28 | 0 caps

Right Midfielder Rasmus Karlssen
Team: Thor’s Rest Storm
Age: 23
18 caps, 2 goals
Rasmus has been called the smartest player in the CIFA, and for good reason. He can read the opposition like an open book and excels at creating scoring chances. Space and gaps in opposing defense often just seem to materialize in front of him. Storm fans call him "the Magician".
Substitute: Perry Oosterhuis | Skalton Harpers | 26 | 9 caps, 0 goals
Pool: Angela Bouw | Vikings FC | 24 | 0 caps

Left Back Eric Johnson
Team: Creston Wolves
Age: 24
15 caps, 0 goals
An aggressive defender, Johnson will challenge any attempt to move down his side. This is a risky strategy that can result in a major change either way, but it worked for a Wolves team that won the league last season while only taking three losses. Johnson will split time pretty equally with Verkerk.
Substitute: Lucia Verkerk | Gilded City Dragons | 23 | 12 caps, 1 goal
Pool: Leen Schaap | Danvirk FC | 27 | 0 caps

Left Center Back Redvin Chase
Team: Jutland Cannons
Age: 26
16 caps, 1 goal
Chase is one of the CIFA's better defenders, with a solid header that often proves critical to the Cordian defense on set pieces. Chase does play a physical game, though, and he could see the yellow and red cards pile up if that gets out of hand.
Substitute: Milani Göransson | Brenville Blue | 23 | 9 caps, 0 goals
Pool: Merel van Pelt | Carathyr Emeralds [TKT] | 22 | 0 caps

Right Center Back Frederick Johnson
Team: Jutland FC
Age: 24
18 caps, 0 goals
Another solid center back, Johnson excels at pinpoint passes and keeping attackers on the outside per the Cordian gameplan.
Substitute: Sigrid Altena | Skalton Harpers | 26 | 8 caps, 0 goals
Pool: Martien Zomer | Creston Wolves | 27 | 0 caps

Right Back Vladimir Demov
Team: Danvirk FC
Age: 28
17 caps, 0 goals
Demov is one of the best defenders in the CIFA, with a powerful shot that can score from outside and impeccable defensive positioning. He plays hard and uses his body to full advantage, and can be expected to take a foul. His experience anchors the Cordian backline.
Substitute: Jean Admiraal | Valley Fold Vengeance | 26 | 10 caps, 0 goals
Pool: Steven Slotboom | Meadow Ridge Maples | 30 | 0 caps

Goalkeeper Kristin Bergstrin
Team: Jutland Cannons
Age: 24
18 caps, 4 clean sheets
Bergstrin has been one of the most effective CIFA keepers in her time, though there is debate as to whether this is to her credit or the defenses she's been fortunate enough to have in front of her. Her Cannons finished a point out of the IFCF, but with the league’s second-best defense behind only Gilded City.
Substitute: Jordi Jongen | Creston Wolves | 23 | 7 caps, 1 clean sheet
Pool: Jane Hendriks | Gilded City Dragons | 27 | 0 caps
STADIUMS
The Castle, Danvirk
Hosting MDs 9, 12, and 14
An 80,000 seater located in Danvirk. The short ends of the stadium are built to resemble castle walls and often decorated with banners displaying the colors and logo of the home team. In CIFA play, that team is Danvirk FC of League A, and in the CLL it’s the Danvirk Barons. The stadium has a full schedule and has hosted everything from international track meets to concerts. It was the host of the first international-tier event on Cordian soil, the Thunder Cup meet during the Global Athletics Tour. It’s a relatively new stadium, built around seven years ago.
Cordasfjord Colosseum, Cordasfjord
Hosting MDs 3 and 4
An older stadium seating 60,000. For forty years after it was built, it was the largest stadium in Cordia, surpassed only recently by the Castle. It’s circular in design and hosts plenty of matches as well. The Cordasfjord Crusaders of the CLL play here, and so does the CIFA’s Cordasfjord FC, a club that consistently gets IFCF football.
Jutland City Stadium, Jutland
Hosting MDs 1 and 6
Seats 45,000, also serving as the national stadium for Cordia’s lacrosse, rugby, and gridiron national teams. Middle-aged. Pretty basic, nothing very special to see here.

The Valentian International Football Association

Even after decades, Valentijn could not help but laugh a bit at the innocence of her wife. Clarissa just could not get around the idea that her suggested name for the football club could seen as suggestive or adult themed. "My dear, I am sorry if I am laughing a bit too hard here. I mean, Clarissa's Kittens is a cute name, I will give it that," Valentijn tried her best to explain, gasping for a bit of air while consoling and patting her robot wife on her back, "But trust me, it is going to sound a little weird. Just trust me on this one, all right?" Clarissa nodded cheerfully, simply happy to make Valentijn laugh, even if she was laughing at the said idea of the suggested name. After a bit more brainstorming, followed by a somewhat unanimous decision by the team, they decided to go for another name accompanied by the slogan. Clarissa clapped happily, along with the rest of the fresh football players of Valentine Z.

Established just a few months ago, on the 0th anniversary of the end of the war dubbed the Interdimensional Incident that costed many Valentian lives as well as the years to rebuild, Valentijn and The Sixty decided that after the blunders of the two World Cups, they could give the others a chance. They did it with a Basketball Team, so perhaps a somewhat less Sixty-affiliated team could fare well, since the Sixty had to run the country harder than ever for these few years, especially after the war. Now lead by Exuberant Superintendent T-2000/2904-3 Surveillant Clarissa Alanis Star Breya « La Amoureux Chéri » Millie Taissa Butterfly Mélody Coraline Jolijn Trini Clementine Hollie Samantha Zeta Harumi, Valentian Kittens introduces and brings in a group of equally experienced football players from across the Earth and Mars of Valentine Z, in order to experience the fun and joy of football, as well as joining international events such as these. They might have had football experience in the domestic events (as well as having a few non-football related skills that could be useful), but can they step up against their roster, and hopefully make it into the semi-finals even? Time will tell! However, one thing is for certain - as long as they are a Valentian, they are neither going to give up without a fight with Clarissa as their captain and manager, nor disappoint her.

The Valentian Kittens' Roster

Nyowani Kitara National Team

Nyowani Kitara is a nation that is a multi-ethnic and largely bi-racial communist nation, formally ruled as a one party state. The communist party is called the Kitara Progressive Workers Coalitions, abbreviated as the KPWC, which is the country's only legal political party. While for many years the party has always been the most important institution, over the past 30 years the military has taken a dominant role in the affairs of the party, and by extension, the state.

There are three major ethnic groups in Nyowani Kitara. The first is the Kitara, who account for approximately 57% of the population. These are black skinned people who originate as part of the Kitara tribe, in Banija, mass migrated to modern-day Nyowani Kitara in the 1840s after they were largely exiled by Banijan authorities. Because of that, they have no diplomatic relations with Banija and are largely to be considered 'radically' anti-Banijan. Radical anti-Mormon teachings from the country, alongside Communism and a dispute over who should use the name(Banija consider their own Kitara Region to be the 'true Kitara', while Nyowani Kitara believe Banija lost the rights to the name when the exilied the Kitara people), lead to heavily strained relations.

When they came to north Rushmore, They conquered the land that was dominated by a variety of white native tribes. Osterlanders(approximately 30% of the population) are the biggest native white ethnic group, with Nordlanders(6%) and Zealanders(1%) behind them. The remaining 6% are largely white immigrants and their descendants from neighboring countries (particularly Graentfjall, Tikariot, Yuezhou, and San Ortelio).

Nyowani Kitara is known for its short, yet harsh, winters. This is a small and poorer country, and therefore outdoor sports are rather popular in this corner of Rushmore. Ethnic group for each player is listed. While sports in Nyowani Kitara are integrated on gender, this team is all males.

Nyowani Kitara is in the midst of an ongoing and particularly brutal civil war. While it is a three-way fight, the KWFA is firmly in the hands of the government, and therefore it is official policy for the team to sing praises of the Government. While players are divided, they are under a heavy eye from the Nyowani Kitara Government via the KWFA, and therefore you won't hear any players or staff criticizing the NYK government publicly.

Information
Country code: NYK
Denonym: New Kitaran
Association: Kitara's Workers Footballing Association(KWFA)
Manager: Liang Wei(Yuezhou). 52 years old. A former assistant manager for Yuezhou during their communist era, he is a good selection for the country to lead the national team. He understands the pressures of international football, and yet, as someone loyal to the Communists in Yuezhou, is palatbly acceptable to Nyowani Kitara(who remain the last nation in Rushmore to still recognize Ren Qiang as the rightful head of state of their western neighbors). While Nyowani Kitara used a player-manager at the last three Copa Rushmoris, the KWFA, in recognition of the challenges of World Cup competition, ensured that they'd hire a full-time manager to properly divide out responsibilities.
Senior Assistant Manager: Raira Ouma. 41 years old.
Captain: Armoni Okombo
Alternate Captain: Johannes von Weber
KPB ranking: 85th

RP permissions: Yes, but be respectful and TG/DM if you're not sure or have ideas.

Overview

Tactically, the Phoenixes are heavily offensive-minded, utilising a 3-5-2 and relying on individual skill in the middle and up front. Goalkeepers and defenders are perfectly capable, but they're going to have to be ready to make plays and bail out failed attacks. There is a bias towards action and chance instead of possession, and an inclination towards taking defensive risks to generate counterattack opportunities. Additionally, it is expected that the midfielders will be fully active on both ends of the field, employing manpower to have advantages in both the offensive and defense zones rather than relying on positioning. Manager Johannes Detmer will frequently make substitutions at midfield, even as early as the start of the second half, to give both the starters and substitutes an opportunity to work at a higher rate for a shorter period of time.

This team will engage in the psychological warfare of the game, if only because it's one of the best advantages they've got. They will not play dirty or recklessly, but they will make the game chippy, say things to get in their opponents' heads. But it's just for the contest itself; after the game - win, lose, or draw - all of that is done, and the Phoenixes will show respect at the final whistle. Despite their experience, this team will suffer from the lack of continuity in international play. There is a tendency for the players to start stronger than they finish, often looking to simply hold on at the end of games.

Full Roster

Manager: Johannes Detmer, 81, Catherina FC Vacant
Assistant Manager: Jeff Brashear, 52
Technical Director: Freddy Lacey, 45
Strength & Conditioning Coach: Daniel Witt, 38
Goalkeeper Coach: Shonne Baylor, 34

GOALKEEPERS

#1 GK Joord Van der Beek - 28, 6-3, 190 - DD Porto Nowi (ZRH): A strong and sturdy goalkeeper who takes charge in the box. Very vocal in organizing the defense and midfield, an essential leadership role with the defensively-minded Valhalla Vikings. Van der Beek has improved quickly in the past few years and has put himself atop the Delaclava goalkeeper heap thanks to strong performances with the Vikings and the Phoenixes, earning himself a contract in Zeta Reka and Hugeltaldom in his prime.

#14 GK George Ross - 30, 6-4, 175 - Algolia AC (SRS): Tall, sturdy, and a keen observer of the game, Ross makes up for perhaps a lack of natural athleticism with smart field positioning, an ability to communicate with the field players, and quick natural instincts and decision making. He has excelled as a top goalkeeper in both Delaclava, with Catherina FC, and in the Squornshelan Remnant States. He takes a back seat to Van der Beek to start this campaign, but at age 30, he is sharp and able as ever.

#21 GK Donat Soler - 27, 6-4, 185 - Southfell United (NPH): Tall and explosive, Soler won three straight Best GK awards and two straight Golden Gloves (fewest goals allowed) in the United Football League, leading Cleopatrana SC to two more league titles and a United Cup victory, before moving on to Southfell United. He's found the level more challenging, but hasn't declined at all - just the unfortunate loser in a tight goalkeeper battle on this team. Soler has a tendency, or perhaps preference, to get out of position and stay active, then bail himself out with an impressive athletic play. Also loves and is good at coming out of the net to play the ball. If Delaclava's down by one or needs a win, don't be surprised to find Soler up the field.

DEFENDERS

#2 RB Josh Torres - 31, 5-8, 150 - Catherina FC: Small and scrappy, Torres locks down the sideline from the opposing field, and he'll get physical to do it. Torres was a national team OG who fell out of favor but successfully reinvented himself in three seasons with Catherina FC - getting named to the Next XI in all three years, leading Catherina FC back to IFCF competition and to a United Cup final, and completely rejuvenating a team that had hemorrhaged its best talent to overseas teams. Torres is one of the rare players who's managed to find his way to a second prime, and he intends to make the most of the opportunity.

#3 CB Rahmonberdi Zhusupov - 24, 5-11, 145 - Ming (CMT): A particularly aggressive center back who isn't afraid to push forward and meet the ball to take changes. He can often get away with it with his speed, but needs to develop more discipline. His importance on an offensively-minded squad in Ming will serve him well on a similarly aggressive Delaclava team.

#4 LB Minotauro Meñica - 24, 5-6, 130 - Loxthorpe Rovers FC (FVA): Lightning quick and strong despite his small stature, Meñica follows the traditional Delaclav style of a highly aggressive outside back, and has benefited as the planned left back of the future NT. He has continued to excel in Flavovespia and, already with a wealth of national team experience at a young age, figured to be a fixture of this team for a long time.

#18 LB Durgali Baxayev - 21, 5-9, 145 - Myana (CMT): Tough and gritty expecially for his size, Baxayev strikes a good balance between attacking on the wings and hanging back, although his judgment needs a bit of work. He is primed to fight for the starting lead back position on the national team for the next decade, and figures to finally gives some defensive backbone to an overly aggressive NT.

#20 CB Wilfrid Gouin - 18, 5-7, 130 - Colonial Sile (VIL): Diminutive but incredibly quick with efficient positioning. A poor aerial defender prone to attacks, but very little gets past him on the ground, and crafty enough to make sure larger opponents have trouble beating him.

#22 RB Carlos Berrera - 30, 5-11, 160 - Algolia AC (SRS): The great-grandson of Delaclava's greatest player of all time, Alessandro Berrera, Berrera has consistently responded to the weight of pressure and expectation, and become a very competent containing back. His more conservative style is finally beginning to mesh with the attack-minded NT, and he is a fantastic positional and physical player as well as an effective distributor from the backfield. A valuable veteran who can be brought in to preserve leads (hopefully the Phoenixes have a few of those).

MIDFIELDERS

#5 RDM Kazuo Martin - 25, 5-11, 170 - Brinemouth (NPH): A quick and patient players, with a national team career going all the way back to the age of 18. He was a pioneer in signing a contract with Brisara FC in Chromatika before working his way to the top of the Red League and moving on to the Zenith.

#6 LDM Ben Romeijn - 26, 6-2, 180 - Blackfields (EUR): A big, speedy and powerful athlete and a bona fide star who got his start as a teenager leading an old AC Espene squad to a respectable table finish. Blackfields took a chance on him and Romeijn has delivered in spades, helping the team into the Gold League and continuing as a reliable goalscorer and playmaker.

#8 LM Aleksandr Temirkanov - 24, 5-7, 135 - Kyethas Rivermen FC (TKT): A surprise selection for the starting eleven, he has battled through injuries in Tikariot and shown how durable and dangerous he can be at his best. A ferocious attacker on the wing, Temirkanov will often take the ball to the net himself if he sees the right opportunity (or, to be honest, even if he doesn't) and likes to take risks and try to recover on defense later. His endurance is improving, but given his breakneck aggression, the last 15 minutes or so are still a challenge.

#9 RM Varlam Kovalev - 26, 5-10, 160 - Chatswood (NPH): A versatile midfielder who has matured impressively in the past few years, and who is both skilled and confident enough to make an offensive impact individually, and physical and hard-working enough to put in the slog on defense to protect a lead. His journey from late bloomer to national team starter has been a sight to behold.

#10 CAM Kent Lindblad - 23, 5-8, 140 - Farrenton Athletic (EUR): The two-time defending UFL MVP and now UFL league champion, Lindblad is the shiny new toy for the Delaclav FA. Steady and cool-headed as they come, Lindblad is perhaps blessed with more tactical than physical gifts, but possesses field vision beyond his years. For a Delaclav, he is uncharacteristically sensible as a containing defender, and offensively works best in support at the back of a formation and as an effective distributor across the field. He can therefore find and generate attacks through the wing players. After winning a UFL Golden Boot and Golden Ball, he joined up with Lukas Meyer at Farrenton Athletic and figures to be a key piece in that team's future.

#12 LM Martin Bartoš - 23, 5-9, 160 - Dhun Lagarr FC (TKT): A lightning quick and versatile midfielder with a nose for the goal, who has left Steckholl United to join in one of the fastest-growing leagues in the world. Despite his youth, Bartoš has a wealth of experience in captaining the Verceola national team. That territorial squad has been canned for the time being, so the Phoenixes will get the benefit of this prospect, who at one point was by consensus the very best midfielder among an embarrassment of riches for Delaclava at the position. Now, he sits elsewhere in the revolving door, but has worked out some discipline issues in Tikariot and hopes to play a major role.

#13 CM Timur Zaitsev - 27, 5-10, 150 - Workers Union (EUR): An offensive-minded, energetic player and a great distributor out of the middle, who has continued to thrive with Workers Union. He was often used as a "spark plug" substitute in his younger days, but emerged as a more consistent starter. Now, with the explosion of young talent, Zaitsev will take a backseat for the time being, but he is still ready to provide guidance and make a difference in the later minutes.

#15 LM Emil Mišalko - 21, 5-7, 140 - Casuals Osteria (KRY): The speedy and aggressive Mišalko was the difference maker in coming over to AC Espene and finally getting them to a league title. He attacks easily down the side and possesses well in an offensive set to draw defenders away and set up chances. Can generate his own scoring chances but prefers to wait and find the most open opportunity. Not a particularly effective defender.

#16 CM Drystan Tudor - 22, 6-1, 160 - CF Outineau (KSK): Tall, strong, rangy, fast, with smooth ball skills, distribution, and scoring ability - Tudor is perhaps the most complete player of all of Delaclava's young talent. He's confident, embraces leadership opportunities and new challenges. If anything, perhaps a bit too confident and is prone to clash with other strong personalities, but coachable under the right guidance.

#17 RM Steffan Mikines - 24, 6-2, 165 - AC Espene: Mikines has bounced around the midfield in the national team program, but as part of the AC Espene youth invasion that are now defending UFL champions, Mikines has shown that he has a winning mentality regardless of where he's plugged in. The Golden Ball winner plays with a chip on his shoulder that no teams abroad expressed any interest in him.

#24 DM Donato Girardi - 29, 5-9, 145 - Chenoworth Harriers (NPH): A national team original who provides valuable veteran depth. In his prime, Girardi was easily the most skilled with the ball on this squad, and was a great asset in the midfield, individually penetrating the defense and exploring his options. The veteran has plenty left in his legs at just 29, and while gunning for a starting job, hopes to show his worth as a "spark-plug" substitute.

FORWARDS

#7 LF Dathan Ingram - 27, 5-7, 140 - Casuals Osteria (KRY): One of the smallest players on the squad, Ingram is most commonly a threat penetrating the left wing. In a typical attack, Ingram will look to take it to the flag and cross. On the counterattack, Ingram will seek out the middle and can generate wonderful displays of individual skill, either taking the goal himself or dropping the ball off for a neat assist. He is not a significant aerial threat but is counted on to take many corner kicks and free kicks.

#11 RF Lukas Meyer - 26, 6-2, 175 - Farrenton Athletic (EUR): The best natural goalscorer of the squad, Meyer does not have the speed or size to capitalize on many breakaway chances, but in offensive sets and possessions, there is no one more reliable or adept in the 18-yard box. Meyer has a knack for finding the right shot or leading pass within that range, and seems likely to have the best chance at cracking the world's stiffest defenses. He continues to improve and earned league honors for the first time in the Gold League; all indicators say his best is yet to come.

#19 FW Odhrán O'Glissane - 23, 5-6, 135 - Port Tacassam FC (TKT): Slight and so can be pushed around easily, but he's a magician with the ball and in finding space to work. Has become a potent reserve in the Tikariot league, with consistently strong performances and a nose for the goal.

#23 FW Damian Soto - 25, 6-4, 190 - Catherina FC: Almost freakishly quick for his height, Soto spent his early career shining on a squad that is more known for its defensive capabilities. He was named to the Best XI for two straight years - once with Tigers, once with Cleopatrana SC. Moving on to Catherina FC, Soto picked up a Golden Boot in a tight title chase. He may not play in a top-level league like Eura or Krytenia, but Soto knows how to score and seems bound to do so when he gets his opportunity.

#25 FW Jack Sanders - 27, 6-0, 165 - Steckholl United: A matured player, a gentleman with tactical patience and a calm head, although sometimes a bit too soft and passive. Beats defenders early with speed and can find himself in the right place for a tap-in, if he isn't defended too vigorously. He seems to be a bit outside the range of players who can advance their game further abroad, but he is optimistic that breakout performance with Steckholl United and the Phoenixes will change his fortunes.

Notes:
  • As stated above, Detmer will frequently expect midfielders to work their hardest for 45 minutes, then be substituted for someone else. Romeijn and Martin are more likely to go for the full 90 minutes, and Detmer will always hold on to one or two substitutions if another replacement is needed elsewhere.
  • Ingram is most likely to take corner kicks, although it doesn't really matter since this team is not particularly tall and represents less of an aerial threat than years past. If Delaclava trails and needs goals in the later stages, Meñica will take corners instead.
  • Lindblad will be the one to take free kicks if there is a direct scoring opportunity; Meñica for longer range and placement; Meñica or Ingram if looking for a volley/header in the box.
  • For penalties, use the first player on this list who is still in the game: Ingram, Meyer, Lindblad, Romeijn.

Starting Lineup | Načetanniya Komanda

Vladimir Hužyak: (GK) As the final line of defense, Hužyak is expected to do whatever it takes in order to prevent the ball from going in the net. Luckily for his teammates, Hužyak excels at his job, having held the highest number of clean sheets for two consecutive years in the Polkopian Premier League, and is the obvious starter for the goalkeeper job for the Snovski. His greatest weakness, as many of his opponents in Polkopia's domestic league have come to find out, is that he has a tendency to over-extend his role, coming out of his zone far too often and thus is subject to chips and jukes from some of the more skilled forwards that he'll face off against.

Nikita Rudin: (RB) Nikita Rudin is one who has demonstrated that he is more than willing to give 110% of his energy during the entire game, and one will see that he has no issue running up and down the pitch in order to chase down his opponent. He displays a great deal of speed and uses this to his advantage, as he is very difficult to catch up to once he pulls ahead. His biggest disadvantage, however, is that he seldom finishes any of the games he starts, as he is prone to getting winded fairly easily, given how much energy he exerts each and every game. It is almost certainly a given that he will be substituted in a majority of the games that Polkopia plays during its World Cup run.

Lev Rusakov: (CB) In Polkopia's domestic league, many didn't expect Olympik Restnov to finish in the top-4 of the league. Prior to this past season, Olympik Restnov had always been considered a mid-tier team, due to their explosive offense being countered by their extremely weak defense, so any team that found themselves behind always managed to catch up. That is, until the acquisition of Lev Rusakov from Peeto Korol' meant that the team's defense had a rock in the back to rely on in case of counterattacks. This is exactly the role he plays in the National Team as well, as he will very rarely extend too far the zone in which he's comfortable in, as he has proven to be a remarkable defender in 1-on-1 matchups against his opponent. Unfortunately, this also means that his defensive line suffers in that the opponent rarely has offsides called on them, as Rusakov's positioning allows for space between him and his opponent.

Vasiliy Zubokov: (CB) Being the only one called up from FK Akasov Orešek, Zubokov has struggled in the past with finding chemistry between himself and his fellow defensemen and loses his positioning fairly quickly. That being said, Zubokov is also an extremely aggressive defender and finds his strengths in bullying his opponents off of the ball and winning the ball back for his side a majority of the time. If utilized correctly, Zubokov can also run up and be another man in the opponent's box during corner kicks as well, using his strength to push past through the crowd in the box and set his sights on the ball. In the domestic league, he scored the most goals as aa defender by the end of last season, and many are looking to see if he is able to repeat that same success here in the National Team where, despite the fact that he is well outside of his comfort zone, has already proved to be an incredible asset to the team.

Vadim Išutin: (LB) The last of the starting defenders for the Polkopian National Team, Vadim Išutin finds his strength, like his fellow fullback, is that he will run up and down the length of the pitch at any given moment. Unlike Rudin, however, he seldom gets tired after running around the pitch all game, and is one of Polkopia's more reliable defenders in this matter. He has great awareness as well, and is able to intercept many short, quick passes and start a Polkopian counter-attack. His downfall, however, is his strength. Many in the Premier League have accused Išutin of freely diving upon feeling his opponent on his back, but in reality, it's the fact that he often runs fairly clumsily and is subject to being thrown off of the ball fairly easily.

Danya Siyan: (CDM) Danya Siyan is always one of the top contenders for most valued player in the Polkopian Premier League, having narrowly lost last season's award to striker Yakoby Kosyo, and much of his usefulness comes with his technical skill. Though he plays as a center midfielder at Lada Kirovski, he is set to move to a more defensive position here, as the central defenders for Polkopia lack technical skill that allow them to fend off some of the more technically savy opponents that they're up against. Siyan's position here is to alleviate much of the stress in this part of the field. Throughout Polkopia's run in this World Cup, however, Siyan will need to get his anger under control, as he has frequently lashed out at his opponents and teammates alike, ultimately causing some sort of tension between himself and some of the players on the field. Head coach Stepan Dyakov will have a difficult time trying to reign in Siyan's temper for the good of the team, but if he can do this, his presence on the field will be undeniably vital for Polkopia's success during this World Cup.

Petro Marčuk: (RM) Petro Marčuk is one of two Polkopians whose World Cup success brought enough international attention to bring them abroad. Specifically, to Tikariot, where he currently plays for Oriannor Mountaineers FC. His presence was immediately felt among the team last season, playing a vital role in most of the team's dangerous attacks. His role saw the Mountaineers clinch second place in the Tikariot Premier League, a notable improvement from fourth place the season prior. His cheeky lobbed-passes and chips often gave his team the edge over some of their biggest rivals such as Guillarim Blades FC. He will surely be looking to carry that success over the the World Cup stage during this upcoming cycle.

Yuri Smyefinov: (CM) The other Polkopian player to make his debut in the Tikariot Premier League is none other than Yuri Smyefinov, who was recruited to the previous World Cup squad as a last-minute replacement but has since proved his worth to the Polkopian team. His season was marked with an unfortunate knee injury which kept him out of the majority of the season. Despite playing only 17 games the last season, his performance and chemistry with the Polkopian team last season proved to be worth keeping him as one of the starters during this World Cup run. His adjustment to a pass-heavy midfield last cycle showcased his versatility as a player, and it was a no-brainer to start him during this cycle.

Stepen Azarov: (LM) Yet another midfielder from FK Valinkova, it's no wonder why the team is regarded as having the best overall midfield in the Polkopian Premier League. Stepen Azarov's contribution to this is not lost on fans, however, as he has often displayed some of the best positioning out of players in similar positions as him, as well as running some of the most crucial routes in order to pursue some of the more dangerous attacks for his side. For his domestic side, he plays a more offensive role, having been the target of Marčuk's and Kurvenkho's key passes leading up to goals for his side, however in this role, he is expected to provide a majority of crosses into his opponent's box. This will be quite an adjustment for Azarov's playstyle, however one can expect that he will still be the recipient of plays set up by the midfield, before eventually crossing it to the attackers in the box.

Maksim Pašin: (CAM) Previously, the explosiveness of Olympik Restnov's offense has been mentioned, and this is largely due to Maksim Pašin's ability to set up plays for his side with ease. His heavy foot gives him the ability to strike from well-outside the box and still manage to score goals with ease, but will need to adjust a little bit to comply with head coach Stepan Dyakov's more pass-centric mentality. That being said though, if left without any options, Pašin will certainly be looking to show the multiverse how hard he can boot the ball from afar, and will consistently test the alertness of his opponents' goalkeepers.

Yakoby Kosyo: (FW) If anyone were to think of a player from the Polkopian National Football Team, more often than not, one would mention Yakoby Kosyo's name. At such a young age, he has already proven himself to be a nuisance for his opponents' defenses on the pitch, displaying a great deal of technical skill and converting nearly every chance into something great for his side. He led his side during the Summer Olympic Games in Electrum to the Round of 16, and led the team in goals scored during Polkopia's World Cup 89 run, and will surely be looking to expand on this during the 90th World Cup. What Kosyo displays in technical skills on the pitch, he lacks in athleticism, as he is very prone to injuries. While he has never experiences something too drastic, it's not uncommon to have him sit out a game or two to recover from ankle or hamstring injuries, so head coach Stepan Dyakov will need to have a plan in place to put forth if and when Kosyo inevitably has to sit out a game during this World Cup run.

The Wreckerian National Football Team
Image

Full nation name: The Reformed Republic of Wreckeria
Trigramme: WRE
Nicknames: The Bulldogs
Team Colors: Orange and Black

Info:
There is a good chance that this time next year, Wreckeria will not exist. With the nation facing substantial difficulties on multiple levels, rumors are rife that the nation will dissolve within the year, or it will be absorbed into another nation, such as Hapilopper. With that in mind, the Wreckerian Football Association, with nothing else to lose, have decided to enter a team into the World Cup one final time. The players on this squad all play in the Hapilopper Football Association, and more than a few of them could find time in future World Cups playing for the Hapiloppian squad. But they want to pull off something magical for their home nation, their real nation, if they don't have another chance to do it.

MANAGER/HEAD COACH: Marvin Byrnes
Byrnes, 40, attempted to present football as a way to unite Wreckeria and get away from the decades of violence and infighting that has plagued the nation. Byrnes, who used to play for Sporting Milwood Town before the Wreckerian Premier League collapsed 10 years ago, was a star striker for the team. Now, he's just hoping his fellow Wreckerians can pull off a miracle. Byrnes will focus on a neutral style of play, and will rely on the 3-4-3 formation for most of the time.

Byrnes' staff includes:
ASSISTANT MANAGER: Abner Crewe
ASSISTANT COACH: Nick Donaldson
GOALKEEPING COACH: Quentin Joyner
TRAINER: Charlie Garner
TECHNICAL DIRECTOR: Darrell Glazier
PHYSIO: Robert Fry

The Fans:
A small group of Wreckerians have vowed to make the trip to whatever nation will play host to the Bulldogs. There's not many of them, but they're passionate and want to present as positive image of their land as they can. They'll be there to cheer on their fellow Wreckerians, some of whom they fought in battles with. While Wreckerians will want to present as positive of a picture of their nation as possible, they do like to have fun, and they look to make your tournament as enjoyable as possible.

The Stadium:
Patrick Stadium, Halsted, Wreckeria
Built: 1958 | Seating Capacity: 30,000 | Open-Air | Natural Grass
Image
Built back in the late 50s for the Halsted State University football team, William Patrick Stadium in Halsted wound up becoming the nation's de facto national stadium after the nation's original national stadium, Wreckeria Stadium, was blown up by the True Wreckerians after they thought it to be a outpost for the Party of Pride. Patrick Stadium is rumored to be undergoing a major renovation, and could be seen as a possible site for Wreckeria - or Hapiloppian - national team matches in the future. Watch this space.

The Players:
GOALKEEPERS:
Image
#1 - JOHN MARLOWE | Age: 26 | Kicks: Left
twii.tur: (none) | Club: The Soldiers of Hapilopper City
Style of Play: Roving Keeper | Speed: Medium | Physicality: Decent | Attitude: Confident
John Marlowe will tell you he's Wreckeria through and through. The grandson of William Marlowe, a defenseman on Wreckeria's World Cup 30 squad, Marlowe has had football in his blood his entire life. He carries the Wreckerian flag on his sleeve when he plays for the Soldiers in Hapilopper City. He has a charity, "Marlowe for Wreckeria" which tries to enrich the lives of Wreckerian children with a better education than what they currently receive. As of now, it is not known whether or not he will continue if Wreckeria gets absorbed into Hapilopper, as is rumored.

Image
#30 - CAREY ATWATER | Age: 29 | Kicks: Right
twii.tur: @careythekeeper | Club: Washington FC
Style of Play: Sweeper Keeper | Speed: Slow | Physicality: Low | Attitude: Professional
Carey The Keeper, a favorite in the Washington area of Hapilopper for his friendly attitude in the community, is the sole backup on the Wreckerian national team, and one of a few Wreckerian players that remain from its World Cup 84 and 85 squads. With the Washington FC squad, Atwater averages one goal per 89 minutes of play, and while the team is not usually a highly-regarded squad in the HFA, it's not because of him. The fans in Washington know this, and consequently any heat towards the squad is not generally directed his way. Atwater is not expected, however, to play for Team Hapilopper if the two nations merge.

DEFENDERS:
Image
#2 - HUEY HOOPER | Age: 24 | Centerback | Kicks: Right
twii.tur: @hueyhoop | Club: Hapilopper City Highway Patrol
Style of Play: Zone Defense | Speed: Fast | Physicality: Heavy | Attitude: Sparkplug
You ever heard of Huey Hooper before? You probably will by the time this World Cup is over. Huey, considered the best defensive footballer to come from Wreckeria, has proven himself to be one of the Highway Patrol's most effective defensive players, stopping an offensive effort with such force, it reminds Hapiloppian and Wreckerian fans of certain other players that have played in the Dominion. Fortunately, Huey Hooper is nowhere near as homicidal as some of those certain players. What he is, however, is a ballplayer that is hellbent on getting under the skin of his opponents, and even more hellbent on driving his teammates to be the best they can be. How effective he is at it, though, remains to be seen.

Image
#3 - CLIVE CARSON | Age: 27 | Centerback | Kicks: Left
twii.tur: @clive_carsonWRE | Club: Kingsland Warriors
Style of Play: Man-To-Man | Speed: Fast | Physicality: Medium | Attitude: Annoying
Ahh, Clive Carson, the single most annoying player in sports in either Hapilopper or Wreckeria, and that includes that dumbass Hapiloppian pitcher that drove a stolen bullpen cart into a gas pump. But unlike Nolan Jefferson, that pitcher in question, Clive Carson is not an idiot. Rather, he's an incredibly intelligent human being who is reportedly the best chess player in Hapiloppian football. But when playing man-to-man defense, Clive is among the best at getting on the nerves of both his opponents and, on occasion, his own teammates. Several players have remarked hearing Clive making incredibly annoying noises to them when having to face off against him. These noises, said one Hapiloppian player, resemble the sound of a small dog yapping away. But he has his purposes with these noises - to both rob his opponents of their concentration, to throw them off their game and to get under their skin. And it works. A year ago, he got the usually-unflappable Toby Bryson of Soldiers so angry that Toby forgot where he was and punched him out. Toby got a red card and a three-match suspension. Clive got a black eye and the last laugh.

Image
#4 - SCOTT MURPHY | Age: 36 | Centerback | Kicks: Right
twii.tur: (none) | Club: Garvinson Trojans
Style of Play: Zone Defense | Speed: Fast | Physicality: Heavy | Attitude: Brawler
The locals in Garvinson like to tell stories about Scott Murphy. Most of Hapilopper can brag about Nathan Ellis, the most violent of violent gentlemen in all of multiversal sport. But Scott Murphy has become legend in the Garvinson area about the fights that they've seen Scott Murphy in, primarily in the bars and taverns of the Garvinson area. Murphy has always been a brawler, dating back to his days playing street soccer. His crude style of defense has seen him slam players into brick walls and into concrete floors without much regard for them or his own personal health. Many times, fans watching HFA action in Garvinson will see a fresh black eye on Murphy. Not from any action on the pitch, but rather from his time brawling in the bars around Garvinson. Don't mess with this guy, he'll beat the hell out of you.

Image
#20 - JACOB SUTTON | Age: 27 | Centerback | Kicks: Right
twii.tur: @jake_sutton | Club: United Hampton Cities
Style of Play: Zone Defense | Speed: Fast | Physicality: Decent | Attitude: Relaxed
The first time Jacob Sutton walked into the United Hampton Cities locker room, the first thing he did was install a hammock. It annoyed the hell out his teammates and his coaches at first, but after a little bit of time, they realized that this guy had the right idea. He could go into a match relaxed and loose and get the job done. He could focus himself with some music, a drink with an umbrella in it, and then go out there and take an offender down. Was it unorthodox? Yes. But very few things in Hapilopper or Wreckeria are done in an orthodox manner. Away from the pitch, Jacob does about the same thing. He can be seen in his apartment in East Hampton, relaxing, watching old movies and drinking those refreshing beverages with umbrellas in them.

Image
#21 - MORTY EWART | Age: 29 | Centerback | Kicks: Left
twii.tur: @ewartdefense | Club: Football Club Hapilopper City
Style of Play: Zone Defense | Speed: Fast | Physicality: Decent | Attitude: Professional
Years ago, Morton Ewart never figured on becoming a footballer. Baseball was his first love, having been a standout pitcher in high school. But with no hopes of getting anywhere in the National League of Hapilopper, and with not much money in the Wreckerian Baseball League, Ewart, for whatever reason, turned to soccer. And for whatever reason, he found tackling people to be a lot of fun. Did we mention that he was one of the biggest brushback pitchers in Wreckeria? Either way, Morty took a sick love of taking someone down, and he did it with frightening efficiency. Amazingly, this took him places, and these days he plays for Football Club HC - albeit the forgotten team in Hapilopper City, but still in the Hapilopper Football Association. Morty can't believe his luck.

Image
#22 - MAX CRISP | Age: 27 | Centerback | Kicks: Right
twii.tur: @da_crispy_1 | Club: Border City United
Style of Play: Zone Defense | Speed: Fast | Physicality: As needed | Attitude: Entertaining
To the delight of the fans in Border City but perhaps to the consternation of his coaches for both club and country, and of his teammates, Max Crisp is more known for his prowess racing midget cars on dirt tracks across Hapilopper and Wreckeria. He's good at it, being known for ripping the top cushion of the track as he passes other drivers en route to victory. But as good as he is, race car drivers crash. And Max Crisp did in spectacular fashion a couple of years ago at the National Bowl at Capital Stadium in Hapilopper City, sending a midget into the catch fence and into flames. Crisp was OK, but fans took to calling him "The Crispy One" after getting out of that fiery wreckage. And to show his brand of humor, Max embraced that name with relish. His profile picture on twii.tur, in fact, is of him sending a sprint car into orbit a year ago near Kingsland Beach.

#5 - DARRELL STACEY | Age: 25 | Defensive Midfielder | Kicks: Left
twii.tur: @dstacey | Club: Pinkerton City FC
Style of Play: Defensive | Speed: Fast | Physicality: Heavy | Attitude: Sparkplug
There are players that truly believe that if you're not getting into card trouble, you're not trying hard enough. We bring this up because Darrell Stacey is absolutely one of those players. As a midfielder - more specifically, a hybrid midfielder/defenseman, Darrell has no qualms about going a little too far in his quest to stop the other team from scoring. Not on the level of Nathan Ellis suplexing a striker onto a solid surface, but close. Fans in Pinkerton have fallen in love with Darrell's no-nonsense style of play that can turn a soccer match into a bar fight very quickly. For instance, the match between Garvinson and Pinkerton last year turned into exactly that when Darrell Stacey and Scott Murphy got together. Both players started throwing bombs at each other when tangling for the ball, leading to one hell of a bench-clearing brawl. And they're teammates on the national team!

Image
#6 - BISCUIT GILBERT | Age: 28 | Defensive Midfielder | Kicks: Right
twii.tur: @biscuit | Club: Raceway FC
Style of Play: Defensive | Speed: Medium | Physicality: As needed | Attitude: Goofball
Biscuit Gilbert, named such because "he's a biscuit away from 250," is considered the heart and soul of the Wreckeria midfield. He's a huge player in physicality, and his character is just as large. Biscuit is said to be one of the more entertaining players in either Hapilopper or Wreckeria, and a lot of it is because he does what he likes to do, to hell with what anyone thinks. His singing voice is terrible, but he's a regular at the karaoke bars in the Buckridge area. He's entered a couple of high profile hot dog eating contests, and on one very unfortunate (and disgusting) occasion, he showed millions of television viewers across the Dominion why the Hapilopper Television Network utilizes super slow-motion cameras for these contests. And then he did a happy dance, almost as if he was proud of what he had just done. Biscuit is all about enjoying the moment, regardless of how good he is at it or not.

Image
#7 - SIG JUSTICE | Age: 32 | Offensive Midfielder | Kicks: Right
twii.tur: @sig_justice | Club: The Soldiers of Hapilopper City
Style of Play: Offensive | Speed: Fast | Physicality: Heavy | Attitude: The Captain
Despite a very unfortunate start of his international career, injuring himself in Wreckeria's first World Cup 84 match against Mareibat, Sig Justice has placed himself all alone as the captain of the Wreckerian national football team, and rumors are rife that Justice could be considered for Team Hapilopper if the two nations merge. He's a great offensive threat, either by feeding the ball to his strikers, or by pulling his own card and going for the goal himself. And last year, Sig led all midfielders in the HFA, scoring 17 goals during the season. Away from the pitch, Justice is quite the softball player, enjoying his time playing beer league softball around Hapilopper City with a group of friends with the Center Street Pub.

Image
#8 - BOBBY BELCHER | Age: 22 | Offensive Midfielder | Kicks: Right
twii.tur: @bob_the_belcher | Club: West River FC
Style of Play: Offensive | Speed: Medium | Physicality: Light | Attitude: Professional
In the future, you probably will hear more about Bobby Belcher, a midfielder that pundits have called "the most professional player in the HFA." You probably won't hear of him on the Hapilopper national team, but you will hear of him as a stalwart in the midfield for West River FC, that's for sure. He's a great player, scoring 9 goals last season for West River, but the biggest criticism of him is that he doesn't get physical enough out on the pitch. He doesn't get out there and put his body on the line, he doesn't get into card trouble, he doesn't get into fights, he doesn't cheap-shot his opponents and he doesn't play with a target on his back. But that might be the point. His quiet style of play keeps him out of trouble and in the good graces of his team, who have thought about making him more of a striking forward than just a midfielder delivering the ball to his forwards.

Image
#23 - DAVID WILNER | Age: 26 | Hybrid Midfielder | Kicks: Left
twii.tur: (none) | Club: Peoria FC
Style of Play: Either-Or | Speed: Slow | Physicality: Heavy | Attitude: Clumsy
A lot of pundits in Wreckeria figured that David Wilner would be a sure bet to start in the midfield. A dual threat in both the defense and offense, Wilner got a lot of people's attention with his play with Peoria. But then he crashed. It happened at Capital Stadium during a match between Peoria and Soldiers last season, and Wilner unwittingly tested the structural intregity of the goalposts in the 27th minute of a 0-0 match. The goalposts didn't give. Wilner's face, on the other hand, did. So instead of continuing to be a dual threat, Wilner spent time in the hospital having suffered facial injuries after running full tilt boogie into the goalposts. And unfortunately for him, the reaction among Hapiloppians was a sickening level of amusement. Venerable TV, who aired the match, showed Wilner smash his face into the goal post in super slow motion, while commentators joked "THAT'S GOTTA HURT!"

Image
#24 - DEAN NORMAN | Age: 34 | Defensive Midfielder | Kicks: Right
twii.tur: @dean_norman | Club: Hapilopper City Highway Patrol
Style of Play: Defensive | Speed: Fast | Physicality: As needed | Attitude: Asshole
In this world, people brighten your day in certain ways. Some brighten your day by their presence. Others brighten your day by leaving you alone. Dean Norman is in the latter category. He's been arrested twice since joining Highway Patrol for his behavior. He's been thrown out of school board meetings in Hapilopper City twice for some nasty comments made in public comments. He's avoided suspensions on a number of occasions for some very, very dirty plays, and Highway Patrol has contemplated cutting him, not because of his poor quality of play, but because he has been seen as something of a "clubhouse cancer" in the Highway Patrol locker room. If any problems come from the Wreckerian locker room, it'll come from Mr. Dean Norman.

Image
#25 - CURT TURNBULL | Age: 32 | Offensive Midfielder | Kicks: Left
twii.tur: @c_turnbull | Club: West Hampton Sports Club
Style of Play: Offensive | Speed: Medium | Physicality: Heavy | Attitude: Friendly
Known for his ability to pull his way through traffic and deliver the ball for his striker at WHSC, Curt Turnbull is a fantastic offensive midfielder, capable of cleaning out defenders and opening up lanes. He's late in his career, having played 15 years in both Wreckeria and Hapilopper as one of the great journeyman midfielders in football. But his career is winding down and winding down fast, and it is likely that after this season, he'll ride off into the sunset and spend his time on the fishing hole near Catty Lake, about 70 miles south of Halsted. It's nice and warm there in the summer and the fishing is good. And quite frankly, that's all he looks forward to nowadays.

FORWARDS:

Image
#9 - GARY BRONSON | Age: 26 | False Nine | Kicks: Right
twii.tur: @g-bron | Club: Border City United
Style of Play: Deceptive | Speed: Medium | Physicality: Light | Attitude: Creative
Gary Bronson is a master of deception. So it shouldn't surprise you that he's a really good poker player, and really good at a certain video game where you play an impostor. Either way, Bronson has mastered the art of the "False Nine", playing havoc with opposing defenses and turning a tough situation into one very advantageous to himself and his teammates. That sort of play has also netted him a lot of goals - 21 last year in the HFA, to be exact. Should Wreckeria merge into Hapilopper, as is suggested, Bronson would be considered for a regular off-the-bench role if the two national squads come together. Away from the pitch, Bronson is, interestingly enough, a TV game show enthusiast, and is seen watching the Hapiloppian game show "The Family Fight" every night, a show that has recently enjoyed a resurgence thanks to its newest host, John Perkins.

Image
#10 - DAVID MARLIN | Age: 19 | Center Forward | Kicks: Left
twii.tur: @marliner | Club: Hapilopper City Highway Patrol
Style of Play: Athletic | Speed: Mega-Fast | Physicality: Medium | Attitude: Excitable
The youngest player on the Wreckerian Bulldogs, David Marlin is also one of the most exciting players, taking after his childhood hero, Hapiloppian striker Ernie Stevenson. Just watch him with the ball for five seconds and you'll see how he takes after him. He pulls off incredible move after incredible move, and scores wild difficult goals. Not on the level of Ernie's famous "Hop-Skip-Holy Shit" goals, but he's getting there. Last year, he scored 26 goals in the HFA and helped propel the Highway Patrol to 3rd in the championship. Marlin is one of the most excitable members of the Wreckerian squad, and is said to be up at 5 a.m. every morning, ready to go out and kick some ass.

Image
#11 - GORD SHEPPARD | Age: 28 | Center Forward | Kicks: Right
twii.tur: (none) | Club: Capital City United
Style of Play: Straightforward | Speed: Medium | Physicality: Medium | Attitude: Antisocial
Gordon Sheppard, better known as Gord, is one of those players that is more interested in going out, doing his job and going home. He's not a clubhouse cancer by any means, so let's get that out of the way. But he also doesn't have any interest in spending any more time with his teammates, or with the media, or with the fans, than he needs to. He'd rather go home, do his own thing, and not be bothered. When reporters try asking him questions, they're greeted with typical, short, one-word responses. It's rare that he'll open up to people, and it takes some doing. All he wants to do is go out there and win football matches. The rest is just window dressing. He'd rather go home and work on his backyard, and specifically his garden, and believe it or not, Gord might be the best gardener in all of Wreckerian or Hapiloppian football. He's a damn fanatic!

Image
#26 - KENNY BECKHAM | Age: 31 | Winger | Kicks: Left
twii.tur: @kenbeck | Club: Pinkerton City SC
Style of Play: Supporting | Speed: Slow | Physicality: Heavy | Attitude: Cautious
Kenny Beckham, in pace in the event of a change in formation or desperate substitution, is an unlucky fellow. Here's another injury-prone individual, and for the most unfortunate of reasons. He slipped on a drainpipe in Surrey. He accidentally collided with his teammate in Buckridge. He crotched the goalpost in Pinkerton, turning his voice up three octaves for a week. He accidentally leveled the manager of the Soldiers, wrecking his own knee in the process. And away from the pitch, rumors exist of an unspecified incident at a female friend's house involving a bunch of noodles. It seems like this guy gets himself in a lot of trouble, and maybe that's why he's not starting. He's a great forward, but it seems like trouble tends to find him.

Image
#27 - NICK SLADE | Age: 32 | Winger | Kicks: Left
twii.tur: @slade50 | Club: Washington FC
Style of Play: Straightforward | Speed: Medium | Physicality: Heavy | Attitude: Professional
The owner of one of the largest vinyl record collections in all of international football, chances are, if you want a random, obscure album to listen to, Nick Slade will have it. He loves his music, and away from the pitch, there's nothing he loves more than listening to a random album. But on the pitch, Slade is the kind of ballplayer that will scrap like hell to get the goal. He'll scrap, he'll fight, and he'll get the job done. And this means getting into card trouble at times. Even as an offensive ballplayer, Nick will take out someone if he feels it's needed, and it's happened on more than one occasion, getting red-carded in a game against United Hampton Cities when he clotheslined the goalkeeper, who he felt was taking a few too many liberties with saving the ball. If you take that to mean he has an attitude problem, sure, why not?

The Pemecutan national football team (Pemecutan Malay: Tim Nasional Sepakbola Pemecutan) represents Pemecutan in international football competition. From its establishment the team is always comprises of all men players. It is governed by Pemecutan Football Association, the governing body of football in Pemecutan. It has never win any major international competition.

The team compete for the first time internationally at 3rd Melayu Archipelago Cup which was held in Eraman. They ended up finished 4th, defeated by Ziwana in third place final. Their participation in World Cup Cycle started at Baptism of Fire 76 where they ended in the Group Stage. They were participated in three World Cup Qualification with the latest edition become their most successful campaign. Pemecutan also become the first Melayu Archipelago country to advance to main World Cup competition.

History

Pemecutan national football team can not be separated from the establishment of the association itself, Pemecutan Football Association or (PFA). Established in 1969, PFA was a result or merging two football associations which was build up the country, Pemecutan. They are Giri Football Association (GFA) and Kanginan Association of Football (KAF). But the official of this new association was deemed unfair. From the beginning of its merging, Kanginan clubs and players were left behind. This was strengthen by the statement made by the then President of PFA which said Kanginan clubs and players being inferior than that of Giri and also PFA was only recognized the former GFA sanctioned competition as the main domestic league of Pemecutan at the time.

As the association was focusing on rebuilding their domestic features at that time, then the international competition and matches was never been held. In 1978, PFA was scheduling an international friendly matches against several countries, Soracana Islands, Toluiwa and Cakranegara. But all of the matches were canceled for various reasons. The officials then back to focusing on its domestic situation especially after 1982 Football Riot. The accident happen during Inter Nusa Cup, between Pesub Ubung, the champion of PFA Eka League at the time and Parsewi Mengwi, the champion of Surya Utama League at the time which was won by Parsewi Mengwi. For not being able to admit the loss, Pesub Ubung fans raging a riot throughout the city of Ubung making the city transportation system collapsed. The situation also makes Kanginan clubs become more alienated by the Giri Island clubs. The second big riot happens in 1996 in Canggu, after Parsenggu Canggu defeats Pescam Campuhan in Inter Nusa Cup which resulted in the discontinued of Inter Nusa Cup.

The situation between these two regions become less severe in early 2000, as more matches were held between clubs from Giri and Kanginan. In 2003, a local competition named Puri Cup was established which competed between states. The competition was short life. The national team was established for the first time in 2019 ahead of the country's entry into 3rd Melayu Archipelago Cup where they were surprisingly finished as 4th placer. The country then focusing to build up its regional image and they success to do that after repeatedly reached semifinal. But their lack of luck to advance beyond semifinal makes them being dubbed as the Pemecutan Cursed. Their first international entry was at 48th Di Bradini Cup where the country tested their U-21 team for the first time. Unfortunately, they were ended up in the Group Stage. The senior team then entered in 73rd Baptism of Fire where they were also ended in Group Stage. They were continue their campaign to 86th World Cup. In their first World Cup Qualifying, they were being smashed. They were only won 2 matches and ended at the bottom of their Group.

On their next World Cup campaign, they were getting better and better. And their latest entry, the 89th World Cup, they success to pass the qualification and ended in Round of 16. In the regional stage, their luck is not getting better. They were success to reached final in 2 occasion but they were always failed to lifted the trophy.

Giri Myna, the endemic bird inspire the team nickname

Team Image

Nickname

During their earlier appearance, the team was coined as The Tridatu Team. The naming is based on the country's tricolor flag name. The name is gradually change after their XIV Summer Olympics appearance. The local media then use the name Si Jalak Putih or The White Myna to refer to the national team. The name then use widely and become the official nickname of the team.

Myna bird or Giri Myna is an endemic bird of the country that can only be found in Giri Island and its nearby islands. It is a protected animal and regard as the national animal of Pemecutan. The logo of Pemecutan Football Association is also using this bird image. While the Tridatu name have been drop off to refer to the team, but it is then adopted by their fans. The fans of Pemecutanian football name themselves as Laskar Tridatu or Tridatu Soldiers.

Kits

Image
The previous team jersey
The national team kit design has only change once. In their first international appearance, the team using black as the kit based color. This jersey was made by a local apparel company, Gringsing. The color use for the kit is inspired by Tridatu color, which is the national color of Pemecutan. It is believe that the color can give luck and protection for the user. After being stuck as semifinalist in regional competition, they decided to change the kit as a refreshment.

Agung&Arya Fashion was contacted by PFA officials to design the new kit for the national team. It is a huge challenge for the fashion house as they are never involve in sportswear before. The design they come up with is a simple black-white vertical stripes with white as the background color. They are also introducing the second jersey which use red as the basic color in also another stripes design. The third design that they made are for the goalkeeper. This time they use the combination of red and black.

Home Stadium

Pemecutan usually play their home matches at Tegeh Kori National Stadium located within the Tegeh Kori Sports Complex, Tegeh Kori District, Pemecutan Puri. The stadium is named after the first native kingdom that rise from the occupation of Sripala Kingdom. It is mostly use for football and athletics matches which has a seating capacity of 45,000 spectators. The final of 7th Melayu Archipelago Cup was held in this stadium. While during the I Games of the Melayu Olympiad, the stadium was use to hold the Archery event.

Not like the previous World Cup Qualifying Round, the PFA officials only select 2 venues for the qualifying stage. The first is of course the main stadium, Tegeh Kori National Stadium. And the second is Manguwi Stadium which located in the city of Mengwi.

Tired of having to say this: The Kingdom of Voidstania is not a kingdom. It is a communist dictatorship with a weak democratic senate under the guise of a monarchy. Normal country stuff.

Also, NS stats and policies are not canon (Because I have a tendency to click the wrong options and give myself dumb policies)

Home Away Third
Modifier: +1

Manager: Kirk McDonagh Image, age 58
Assistant: Timi'sala Koarena Image, age 46

Home Stadium: Stade de Torgos (90,000)

Goalkeepers
GK: Borka Szekeres, age 32, CA Paulinthal (F)
GK: Dalma Kollár, age 24, Tanrısal (F)
GK: Szescõ Mezei, age 30, Hellinic Rouge
GK: Hajna Pálffy, age 32, Rammsissil Image (F)
GK: Tomáš Přibyl, age 24, Royal Jam FC Image

One cycle and the entire script is flipped, and although both Mezei and Szekeres have continued to perform well domestically, the international performance for both have been far from up to the standard that has been needed to keep the number one shirt. Enter in Tomáš Přibyl, who although has yet to see time with the senior national team, having played with the Young Wanderers, he has the impressive record of starting at Royal Jam before 25 and allowing only fourteen goals through thirty matches last season. To perform that well in one of the best leagues in the world at such a young age definitely sees him get the chance to earn the number one shirt, with Szekeres right behind, and Mezei battling Pálffy for who would be the third keeper on the plane for the Finals should the Wanderers qualify, although Kollár performed well enough at Tani through a rough season to keep her spot in the pool for the qualifiers, though far and away the lowest on the totem poll at the moment.

Defenders
LB: Jakub Svatoš, age 24, Mar Sara FC Image
LW/LB: Rudy Yáñez, age 25, CA Paulinthal
LB: Lõrinc Vass, age 30, Hellinic Rouge
CB: Michel Sarrazin, age 26, Hellinic Rouge
CB: Fruzsina Budai, age 30, CA Paulinthal (F)
CB: Ompoly Erôss, age 26, Club Stein-los
CB: Mozes Szölôsi, age 24, Tanrısal
CB: Vidor Kovách, age 24, Duke of the North
CB: Laborc Szöllössy, age 33, Spartangrad Image
RB: Veronika Fábián, age 22, Marque Image (F)
RB: Viktor Szôcs, age 24, Hellenic Rouge
RB: Andrija Hrvatin, age 26, Serrapince FC Image

A very poor performance by the defense at the Copa Rushmori means that there is a large amount of turnover for the team and Laborc Szöllössy might count himself very fortunate to have made the pool when his peers were being overlooked at a similar age. The competition is stiff on the left side, with three players who all are quite deserving of being the starting player. Yáñez gets the nod for now, after CAP made it to the Champions League Final and the Round of Sixteen in back to back seasons with him in the defense, although any of the three are very skilled fullbacks and will be testing one another for playing time during the entire cycle. A new defensive pairing in the middle has Budai and Sarrazin as the two who get the nod, Budai also playing a pivotal role in that CAP team who has enjoyed great success the last few seasons and Sarrazin being a very good defender. On the right there is one obvious option, Viktor Szôcs, who has won three domestic titles with three teams in four seasons and thus has a proven record. Fabian and Hrvatin have made names for themselves at their clubs but have as of yet made a real name in the dual islands, though their chance is now with the defensive shake up.

Midfielders

RW: Katinka Pálffy, age 24, Tanrısal (F)
RW: Nándor Slots, age 29, FK Metropola Borograd Image
LW/RW: László Petô, age 24, Fligsive FC Image
AMC: Ilona Kárpáty, age 23, CA Paulinthal (F)
A/MC: Márió Szölösi, age 30, Ulsa Image
MC: Michael Baer, age 24, 1896 Ebor Image
D/MC: Csongor Sebeôk, age 24, Hellinic Rouge
MC: Ugor Gyôrffy, age 29, Damogran FC Image
D/MC: Ubul Kuruc, age 28, Kitara AA Image
LW: Vojmil Topić, age 26, CA Paulinthal
LW: Pellegrin Csapó, age 30, Marque Image
LW: Asztrik Biró, age 19, Mâ Âlâmëómë Image

It feels much the same for the midfield as it was last roster, with not a lot of change, but a little that will hopefully help with the depth and dealing with the sort of squad rotation that will be needed for the Wanderers not to suffer the same sort of fate as they did during the last Qualifiers and in the Copa. Let's start with Asztrik Biró, who at the tender age of nineteen has started the last two seasons for Mâ Âlâmëómë, you know the club that just happened to steamroll two seasons in a row in the alleged best league in the sport. His problem is that he plays left wing, a position that is stacked full of talent, including the generational talent that is Vojmil Topić at CAP. Michael Baer comes in as a rotational option, having played well in Mytanija, but still likely to be third choice for either of the center mid positions. Katinka Pálffy has the difficult position of trying to come in to replace a legend but a club rival, though she earns her way into the backup spot on the right, with Slots earning the starting position with having good campaigns with Metropola Borograd. While there has not been a lot of changes, it feels like the changes made have definitely made the squad better, at least in terms of quality in depth.

Strikers

LW/ST: Elek Salai, age 24, AC Izotz Zubia Image
AML/ST: Boriska Nagy, age 28, Spartangrad Image (F)
ST: Eustacio Corral Magana, age 24, CA Paulinthal
ST: Eduard Novaković, age 22, Tanrısal
ST: Najiyah Lubanah Mifsud, age 29, Stein-los Turkish (F)
ST: Mihály Bernát, age 29, Revolutionaires Image

The six strikers all have had bad bouts of inconsistency at times but they are all immensely talented and have not done enough to have been dropped from the pool. Salai has been the most consistent and in the best of form when called upon and that is perhaps why he was part of a big money bid from Izotz Zubia in Audioslavia and made the jump from Valanora to the northeast. Nagy and Bernát are competing not only at club level but also for the second starting spot, which Nagy retains for the time being with having helped Spartangrad to a Challengers Cup Final appearance. All three domestic based strikers have had good seasons and Magana is expected to be a starter for CAP in the upcoming season, likely giving them the inside track at the fourth spot in the event of a trip to the Finals.

Formation And Tactics
Image

McDonagh does not look to upset the usual Pasargan outlook too often, although he will not be exclusively looking at very pacy players the way that Griffiths was known to do while in charge of the team. The Wanderers will look to build through the middle with a slightly possession based system that looks to get the most out of their midfielders and wingers who are the workhorses of the team. The team will open up against teams they look to be significantly better than on paper but will otherwise try to keep a more methodical approach, believing that their determination will eventually find the solution to getting past the opposition.

Captain: Márió Szölösi
Corner Taker: Vojmil Topić

CHARTISTANI NATIONAL TEAM
Squad for the 90th World Cup

About Chartistan

The Musicalistic Union of the Cities of Chartistan (Often just Chartistan) is a nation in the region of Sonnel. The capital city, Billboard, is where most of the residents live and work, and is also home to the main governing jurisdiction of the country. Other major cities include Official City, Gaon and Aria.

About the National Team

The Chartistani national team picture varies from week to week as do the Chartistani... Charts. The Chartistani NT was decided by this week's Chartistani Hot Chart, a 100 player index of the top players in Chartistan, the Bubbling Under Hot Chart, a 25 player index of up and comers, and whatever other chart we could find.

The main Chartistani home kit is purple with blue accents, while the away kit is mostly black.

Manager: Doctor Lucas Combbrush
A Musicville district citizen of Chartistan's largest city Billboard, Doctor Combbrush has been part of the Chartistani setup since day 1 as the manager of the national team, having the honor of being player-manager for the World Cup 89 qualifiers and Cup of Harmony 81. Coming off winning the Relics and Newcomers Tournament during the 12th Eagles Cup, he hopes to turn that success (And a guaranteed Eagles Cup berth) into qualification for the big one - The World Cup.

Introduction

Flavovespia is an island nation in Anaia, and previously Atlantian Oceania. A modest population of a little over 20’000’00 means it’s not a particularly large or famous nation, but it still has its charm. The nation’s name is derived from the thankfully benign hornet population that inhabits the island. That is also the source of the team nickname, “The Hornets”. Flavovespia have made 7 attempts to qualify for the World Cup, none were successful. However, a bronze medal position at the CAFA2 has given Flavovespians renewed hope that maybe this is their time

(Post MD1 Update - To clarify, whilst there is a benign hornet population on the island, Flavovespian people are humans)

National Stadia

Hornet's Nest
Location: Waldster
Club team: Waldster FC
Capacity: 75000
Opened: 0U
Open/Closed Roof: Covered seating, retractable roof

Image
The largest stadium in Flavovespia, and with its retractable roof, it still feels almost as modern as it did when first built. Despite recent struggles for Waldster, it still draws a big crowd every game, and for internationals it’s a buzzing venue. Has hosted some of the biggest nations Flavovespia has faced in qualifiers, as well as an AOCAF 57 knockout match.

Highland Road
Location: Hadford Hill
Club team: Hadford Hill FC
Capacity: 69518
Opened: 79BU
Open/Closed Roof: Open seating and field

Image
Flavovespia’s oldest stadium still in use, and regardless of it’s age, a great venue for football. Even with the stands open to the elements, it gets loud in Highland Road, with the home fans in full voice. Has hosted an AOCAF 57 knockout game, and a Liga B Champions Trophy Final

Saints Park
Location: St Astons City
Club team: St Astons City FC
Capacity: 60000
Opened: 30BU
Open/Closed Roof: Covered seating, open field

Image
A stadium that’s over 60 years old now, but still respectable by modern standards. St Astons City are proud to call it their home, and despite the somewhat lengthy journey from city centre to stadium, the fans don’t seem to find. As well as international games for Flavovespia, it hosted an AOCAF 57 knockout game.

City Arena
Location: Marthorpe
Club team: Marthorpe City FC
Capacity: 60000
Opened: 9BU
Open/Closed Roof: Closed roof

Image
One of the only fully enclosed stadiums within Flavovespia, City Arena provides a unique atmosphere and experience for fans. Whilst some of the purists in the game don’t like it, the covered stadium has served Marthorpe City well.

Rovers Arena
Location: Loxthorpe
Club team: Loxthorpe Rovers FC
Capacity: 55000
Opened: 23AU
Open/Closed Roof: Covered seating, open field

Image
A modern stadium with second to none design features and planning. Loxthorpe Rovers are going through a successful spell at the moment, and this stadium is a proud venue of some brilliant performances recently.

Seafront Stadium
Location: Langmere Green
Club team: Langmere Green Rovers FC
Capacity: 55000
Opened: 33AU
Open/Closed Roof: Covered seating, open field

Image

One of Flavovespia’s newest stadiums. Built for Langmere Green Rovers, in their recent halcyon era, it’s a symbol of their success, even if a few fans pine for the days of their old ground. As well as big domestic matches, has been used in an IFCF Cup Winner’s Cup Final.

Squad

Manager

Manager – Augusto Rinaldi Age: 56 (Savigliane)

Flavovespia’s decision to hire their first foreign coach has looked to have been a success, if CAFA2 is anything to go by. After some good club experience at Nazionale Acqui Bollente, he’s stepped up well for Flavovespia, taking them to the bronze medal at CAFA2, with some great victories along the way. His shrewd man management saw him get the best out of a lot of the squad at CAFA2, and he handled some off-field antics well, avoiding the pitfalls of a few of his predecessors. Along with this good tactical flexibility, Flavovespia will hope he can be the one to finally take Flavovespia to a World Cup.

Goalkeepers

1 Aarif Muhammad Age: 27 Position: GK Club: Rockridge Phoenix [BRE] Caps: 95 Goals: 0
At the CAFA2, it seemed he may finally have lost his spot as the starting goalkeeper for Flavovespia, after a poor opening game to Savigliane. However he took his chance in the 3rd place playoff, keeping a clean sheet against Ko-oren. Still, whilst Aarif is likely to reach 100 caps, he’s not one of the most certain names on the team sheet. He’s a very well rounded talent, and at his best probably the top Flavovespian goalkeeper for some time. However his performance in big games has gone wandering.

12 Lucky Diamond Age: 29 Position: GK Club: Loxthorpe Rovers FC Caps: 9 Goals: 0
Diamond is probably one of the most dramatic and wild characters to have played for Flavovespia. Just last tournament, he drew the ire of the press after being the instigator for a hotel trolley cart race that sent teammate Andrew Dance, several items of bedding, and an aforementioned cart into a swimming pool. On the pitch however, his style of sweeper keeper is much more refined, with a good eye to rush out to clear threats and get the ball downfield. His shot stopping is also very good, if not quite as good as other goalkeepers at international level.

23 Nathan Crewe Age: 23 Position: GK Club: Waldster FC Caps: 0 Goals: 0
In the CAFA2 squad but uncapped. Nathan Crewe has made a very good impression at a Waldster side who’ve really lacked character and confidence in recent seasons. Crewe’s challenge will be to keep those performances up to stay in the squad, as he’s one of several of the “golden goalkeeper generation” Flavovespia has. At shot stopping, arguably one of the best amongst Flavovespians, but his distribution and command of the box need some more work to succeed at this level.

Defenders

2 Kishan Rees Age: 26 Position: LWB Club: Binclestead Wood FC Caps: 20 Goals: 0
Kishan Rees had a breakout performance in the CAFA2. After replacing David Lyons, Kishan Rees showed he could deliver as a full back for Flavovespia, despite many thinking that his wing back and occasional wide midfield play would prove to make playing full back too tricky. A versatile player, his marking and tackling have stepped up to be decent enough for this level, whilst for a defender he’s very comfortable dribbling and passing, long and short.

3 Andrew Dance Age: 23 Position: RB Club: Loxthorpe Rovers FC Caps: 23 Goals: 0
Despite only being 23, Andrew Dance has shown in his time in the national side and Loxthorpe Rovers he’s got a great career ahead of him. There was some room for improvement based on CAFA2 performances, but he clearly has the skills to play full back for Flavovespia. Tall and strong, he’s never going to be one of those defenders to take the ball downfield much, but he won’t make life easy for attackers and wingers. Despite playing the friendly character to the media, on the pitch he’s got a bit of a reputation for tough tackles and has learnt the dark arts of gamesmanship from a few club teammates.

4 Stuart Cookson Age: 25 Position: CB Club: Marthorpe City FC Caps: 19 Goals: 0
Finding the right centre back pairing for Flavovespia has been something of an enigma, and it’s maybe the one are Augusto Rinaldi hasn’t yet quite nailed. The #4 jersey goes to Stuart Cookson, a sign he’s given a chance again to impress after an impressive domestic season. 1.92m (6’4) in height, he’s hard to beat in the box and a danger if he goes up to a corner. He’s not the quickest on the team by any stretch of the imagination, but usually he can position himself well to compensate. However he needs to keep his composure more, as his mistakes can be costly.

5 Tony Gardner Age: 32 Position: CB Club: Newrook City FC [NPH] Caps: 193 Goals: 6
With almost 200 caps, it’s hard to overstate the influence Tony Gardner has had for the Flavovespia national team. However his legacy has been tarnished by the impression he’s never cared as much for Flavovespia as other players, causing him not to deliver internationally. He also has a bit of a reputation for a fiery temper on the pitch, although less so than his younger days. Nevertheless, few managers for Flavovespia have dropped him for long, and when he’s on form, he’s a formidable centre back that’s hard to beat, and can pass decently with the ball.

13 David Lyons Age: 26 Position: LB Club: Langmere Green Rovers FC Caps: 74 Goals: 3
A player who’s seemingly been around for longer than his age would suggest. Whilst it seemed he’d have the #2 jersey for a while, he’s been dropped for now, following a less than stellar CAFA2. He’s usually a wise head when it comes to positioning and reading the play, normally knowing where and when to be. On the ball however, he has some room to improve at international level based on the last tournament, although has occasionally managed to find the net for Flavovespia

14 Daniel Lansdell Age: 28 Position: CB Club: St Astons City FC Caps: 32 Goals: 1
Lansdell has largely been on the cusp of the starting XI for Flavovespia, but never quite nailed down a starting spot. He showed some decent signs at CAFA2, although wasn’t particularly one of the breakout stars of the tournament. At 28, he’ll hope to deliver his best football now, and maybe to step up into more of a leader at the back. Quite adept with the ball given he’s a centre back, but sometimes seems to lack the toughness and ability to get stuck in that defences need sometimes.

15 Alexander Evans Age: 29 Position: CB Club: Ogroven Vanguardi FK [ZRH] Caps: 4 Goals: 0
A surprise call up last time out, up until he got onto the pitch. Alexander Evans was by most metrics the breakout player for Flavovespia at CAFA2. His move to play domestic football in Zeta Reka & Hugeltaldom has certainly paid dividends. His, tough, unyielding style of defence may not have been the easiest on the eye sometimes, but it was largely effective. Actually doing much with the ball at his feet at international level seems more of a challenge, but he’s shown so far he’s strong in the defensive fundamentals.

16 David Blythe Age: 29 Position: RWB Club: Kytheas Rivermen [TKT] Caps: 120 Goals: 0
Blythe is into the triple figures in terms of caps, but now with the rise of Andrew Dance, it looks like the flow of caps could be stemmed for Blythe. Officially a wing back, he’s spent most of his time in the national side as a full back. Like many in that position, his pace and passing ability tend to be his greatest strengths, other the more pure defensive aspects of the game. Not a particularly big or controversial character off the pitch, it’s rare to hear much drama come from him.

Midfielders

6 David Clark Age: 30 Position: CDM Club: Langmere Green Rovers FC Caps: 91 Goals: 14
At 30 years old now, David Clark is becoming one of the experience heads in midfield for Flavovespia and club side Langmere Green Rovers. A defensive midfielder who’s best role is the “box to box midfielder”, he has a lot of stamina and willingness to get around the pitch. He’s decent as well at taking shots. One minor drawback is his passing can be overambitious and not spotting the obvious play. Hasn’t always quite fitted the tactical setup of the national side either, although CAFA2 seemed to reverse that trend.

7 Kieron Player Age: 25 Position: CDM Club: Lanar [CMT] Caps: 66 Goals: 2
Another Flavovespian to try and make a name for himself abroad, Kieron Player has begun to deliver on some of the promised potential in the colours of Flavovespia. A defensive midfielder who enjoys the deep-lying playmaker, his passing and vision is up there with some of the best Flavovespians. Improvements in his ability to challenge for and win the ball mean he’s growing as something of an anchor man as well, although he’ll need to ensure he works with other midfielders to avoid gaps being exploited.

8 Robert Totten Age: 29 Position: CAM Club: Loxthorpe Rovers FC Caps: 48 Goals: 11
A central attacking midfielder by trade, Totten probably had his finest moment in Flavovespian colours, and maybe his whole career at CAFA2, when his quickfire hat trick from off the bench meant a Round of 16 victory over Starblaydia. In a central midfield role, he’ll still be the one of a midfield trio keen to make a marauding run downfield to link up midfield and attack. As has been shown, he can also put the ball into the back of the net. Consistency is the only attribute he needs to be a key player in this side.

11 Steven Hall Age: 34 Position: RAM Club: Loxthorpe Rovers FC Caps: 208 Goals: 81
The captain of Flavovespia, and over 200 caps says most of what needs to be said. Playing out on the right side of the attacking trio now, he’s always had the skill to put in a killer cross or cut in and take a shot at goal. A dedicated professional who somehow after a first Super League win, found another gear instead of letting performances drop. The question now remains though, how long before age and time catch up to him, his stamina and other physical attributes may be past their peak.

17 Alexander Clarkson Age: 31 Position: CDM Club: Binclestead Wood FC Caps: 25 Goals: 2
One of only two of this squad who weren’t in the 23 who travelled to Krytenia for CAFA2. Alexander Clarkson is a no-nonsense defensive midfielder, always looking to win the ball and switch the play from defence to attack. A strong club season means a return to the national side, although at 31, he’ll have to impress to make much more than a short term impact. Nevertheless, he’s a play who’s commitment can rarely be called into question.

18 David Wassell Age: 23 Position: CDM Club: St Astons City FC Caps: 5 Goals: 0
A debutant at CAFA2, his performances were decent, but he lacked a little bit of the extra touch to propel him into a more solid role in the squad. Quite like Alexander Clarkson, he’s a defensive midfielder with more emphasis on the defending than the midfielding. In that role he’s shown determination and desire, even if occasionally the results were a little awry. Still, at only 23 years old, he’s one of a fair few younger players Augusto Rinaldi is putting his faith in to develop into the future of the squad.

19 Jonathan Bagshaw Age: 19 Position: RAM Club: Langmere Green Rovers FC Caps: 0 Goals: 0
Called up at just 18 to the CAFA2 squad, he may not have gotten on the pitch yet for Flavovespia, but Bagshaw is one of the most hyped youth prospects for some time. Still only a teenager, he’s been playing for Langmere Green Rovers already. Right attacking midfielder is his favoured role, but he can play further back or through the centre. He’s pacey and a great dribbler of the ball already, and is already seen as mature and mentally adept at the game. If his technical skills can flourish, the comparisons to Steven Hall will not be an overstatement of Bagshaw’s ability.

20 Andrew Thomas Age: 26 Position: LM Club: Marthorpe City FC Caps: 0 Goals: 0
A left midfielder who can play further forward as a left attacking midfielder/winger, Andrew Thomas was in the CAFA2 squad, but a first cap eluded him. Unsurprisingly with his relatively small height and weight, he brings pace and good dribbling skills, along with the ability to hit the right spot with the cross. His finishing could do with a little work, especially if he is to play as part of the front three. He’s got potential to be a good impact sub, especially against anyone with tired legs, and knows how to draw the foul.

Forwards

9 Michael Cole Age: 25 Position: CF Club: Langmere Green Rovers FC Caps: 57 Goals: 20
In the CAFA2, Michael Cole found himself playing on the left of the front three, maybe the role he’s slightly less accustomed to. He didn’t quite meet his expectations, but few could describe him as not deserving a place in this squad. He’s pacey and accurate with the ball to finish, but just needs to get the consistency and final touch needed to really kick on at this level, as there’s others in the squad looking at his position. He’s the son of former Flavovespian National Team manager, Nick Cole.

10 Scott Coleman Age: 31 Position: CF Club: Aries Chariots [NPH] Caps: 185 Goals: 121
185 caps and 121 goals, Scott Coleman is one of the most famous football names of Flavovespia, especially as he plays his club football for Aries Chariots in the Nepharan Zenith. A mainstay of the national team ever since World Cup 83, Scott Coleman has been the key man in attack for so long. Always looking to find the right space to shoot from, and one of the most accurate finishers in the squad, his performances over the years have been key. However, at 31, and with a bit of a history of injury proneness, he’ll need to be managed well if he’s to deliver.

21 Adrian Jones Age: 26 Position: CF Club: Langmere Green Rovers FC Caps: 3 Goals: 0
The strike partner to Michael Cole at Langmere Green Rovers, Adrian Jones has only made a few sporadic appearances for the national team. However, he’s made a strong enough case to stay in the side, ahead of a competitive selection pool in the striker position. More of a target man type of forward, he’s fairly tall and strong, and tries to use that to his advantage. Not someone likely to be making runs from midfield to try and score, but certainly looks to provide value to the squad.

22 Andrew Brocklehurst Age: 24 Position: CF Club: Loxthorpe Rovers FC Caps: 0 Goals: 0
The only member of this squad who’s been called up for the first time. Andrew Brocklehurst is selected off of the back of a Golden Boot winning season in the Flavovespia Super League. In a competitive pool of players at this position, it’s not a surprise there’s been a bit of criticism of his selection, some thinking he was carried by the quality of Loxthorpe Rovers. However, others say his goalscoring record last season at his age is an indisputable sign of quality. He’s a fairly typical poacher, good at finishing with his feet and head, and fairly agile. Lacks a little in support play, although has been working on that hard the past few seasons.

Tactics

Flavovespia played a 4-3-3 in the CAFA2, and it looks to have worked out well for them in most aspects. The play is fairly direct and forward flowing, with the key to getting a pass that leaves the opposition no time to organise. The defensive line will press high on the pitch, to try and win the ball and immediately counter. Of the midfield three, one will act as an anchor man ahead of the defence, one more of a playmaker to try and find the right pass, and the other given more freedom to roam forward to support the attack. All 3 attackers should aim to be scorers, with the ability to cut inside, but they may also roam outside and look to supply a cross. Rinaldi will however shake things up if he senses things aren’t going to plan.

ATHEARAN NATIONAL TEAM FOR WORLD CUP 90

Image

Here it was, a landmark for the history of sporting. The 90th edition of the football World Cup has dawned upon us, and it is a moment for change to many. The start to something new for many, the continuation of what has been done for years for others, we all can't deny it is a moment that may be enriched in history. And with that, Atheara also has enacted something that may make a difference. Atheara will not only be sending two teams to represent, but the substitute bench will all be consisting of female players. This is to introduce a gender friendly national football team, and to ensure that maybe, this will become more of a thing for Atheara to do in the far future.

Aminey - Stade sur la Baie (70000) - home to Aminey CS (and the Aminey Caspians, Aminey Buffaloes, and Aminey Owls).
The flagship stadium, huge production values, the works.

Schemerdrecht - Orange Bowl (54000) - home to Schemerdrecht SVV (and the Schemerdrecht Admirals).
More associated perhaps with the Admirals than the SVV, but it's nearly always sold out venue for great crowds in any sport.

Maethoru - Rikalathen Arena (39000) - home to Maethoru SC (and Mayara Wanderers-Vulpecula).
Close to the KFA's training grounds, at least it has that going for it. Crowds aren't great here.

Étouille - Stade Amandine (30000) - home to Tanques AOE (and the Etouille Vultures).
Some amazing drone shots in front of a crowd that understands its joie de vivre.

Santa Teresa - Estádio Fortaleza (29000) - home to Miradela GD (and the Santa Teresa Sabres).
Made to be exactly 1000 seats larger than their rivals' stadium, the Fortaleza is the upper-class stadium.
OR
Santa Teresa - Estádio Marítimo (28000) - home to Branvon CD.
The working class stadium that is, in all facets, a bit inferior to the Fortaleza. Except the crowds. There's no better stadium for wild crowds.

Maynard - Armskirk Municipal Ground (26000) - home to Maynard AFC.
The unlucky Maynard team have asked the KFA to have their stadium used by the national team - as the only southwestern stadium.

Katashi - Suzumebachi Stadium (25000) - home to Katashi-Kanatsu.
The biggest stadium in the east, Katashi deserves a game. The fans will mostly just cheer for the Yoshiman players, though.

Greencaster - Golhampton Grounds (25000) - home to lower league Langward.
Greencaster is our largest city and... that's their only claim to a Dragonflies home game.

Aevanna - Northern Arena (32000) - home to university team 'Aevanna Ecologiske Universitet'.
The KFA wants some games geographically spread across the country, and so the cold, dark, and cold gridiron Northern Arena is on the list.

We play post-football, a term coined during World Cup 89 to put words to a horrible semifinal between Audioslavia and the Dragonflies, which ended 0-0 after 120 minutes, then all but one penalty was scored in the ensuing series. Post-football means no singing. No cheering. No scoring. Post-football is sideways passes, looking like the same, repetitive movements for minutes on end, but with tiny variations that at some point will get to you. It could be a counterattack, or a shot from distance, or a set piece. Post-football doesn't care if it takes 90 or 120 minutes, or more.

This team is all about containing their opponent, letting them make mistakes, and capitalising on those. Let the other guys get impatient, lose the ball, and immediately go for the counter attack. Yes, it's frustrating to play against, but you have to admit that there's a certain beauty to doing this near-flawlessly every single time. The Dragonflies aren't a very physical team, but can match almost every opponent in stamina (not so much power or speed, though. Typically only the wingers are pacy). Instead, they rely on tactics and patience. The team is also good enough to be in possession a lot and dictate the tempo, though they're not always creative enough to break down the opposing defence - for that, the Dragonflies have learned to be very, very good on counterattacks, set pieces, and a few patterns in open play. Given the experience most of these players have, it's hard to come up with something new they've never seen - and then do that well enough to reliably score. In order to beat us, you'll need to bring two (or more) of the following: power, speed, caution.

Basically, this team comes prepared, is patient, and keeps a cool head.

Image
Numbers 1 to = typically start (but not always, feel free to choose your starters). That's 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, X, and =.
Numbers 1-1= are typically selected as starters or subs (but not always, feel free to select some 23+-ers as subs or starters).
Numbers 20 and over are mostly there as emergency replacements, but can be part of the 23-man squad for some qualifiers. These are almost always younger players with a lot of promise.

Image
The standard for this team. Five defenders, a defensive midfielder-slash-pivot, two wingers, an attacking midfielder-annex-second striker, and a pure finisher up front. In possession, one of the defenders can push up: this might be one of the fullbacks to provide width, but can also be one of the centrebacks, in which case the defensive midfielder makes way. The wingers will be wider or narrower based on the opposition, and the same determines how far the fullbacks will advance. In defence, the team becomes narrower, with the defensive midfielder playing spoiler to whoever is trying to find space between the Ko-orenite lines, and the wingers falling back to meet opposing fullbacks. The striker and attacking midfielder will almost always look for space to launch a counterattack.
Image
The alternate lineup, which still adheres to a basic 5-4-1. You could call it a 5-5-0, seeing as the striker is sitting back much further. This lineup works the exact same for the defenders, with or without possession. The defensive and central midfielder are pivots, the wingers have far more freedom to find space, and the striker drops back to receive the ball and allow other players to overlap, enabling them to score a goal rather than the striker themselves. In defence, the midfielders can organically shrink and expand their 'pentagram-five' formation much more fluidly.

Melbergia
World Cup 90 Squadlist

Image

The Melbergians return for another World Cup Qualification campaign. The nation once ranked as high as 73rd in the world (after WC82) has seen something of a golden generation come and go with a more recent dramatic slump 209th. The WC89 qualification was something of a national embarrassment, with the Melbergians finishing bottom of their group with only 6 points from 18 games played. More will be expected this time around from new coach Andy McManus, albeit with the limited talent available to him for selection. Melbergian media have commented on how old the squad looks, a number of the players named in this campaign's squad are possibly here for the final time - Monson, Tudson, Gueyre all veterans of a better footballing time.

There are some glimmers of hope however - after a stunning season with Brunta Harriers, 22-year old marauding left back Bram Darfield is seen as real prospect for the future. In addition, following clamour from the media, 24-year old centreback Tom Karlton is finally given a chance on the international stage following three solid seasons of development at Halsrath Warriors. Playing alongside veteran Pat Gay is likely to be highly beneficial for Karlton's game.

Goals may be an issue for this side, Trente and Lotterson are likely to be the first choice starters up front in the preferred 4-4-2 formation due to injuries elsewhere, and neither is known for being a world-class prolific goalscorer.

Ultimately the name of the game will be 'improvement' - the golden times are gone, but fans look forward to a few decent results and hopefully avoiding finishing last in their group again.

The 23-man squad selected for qualification is as follows -

1 GK Jon Calder (age 27)
2 DL Bram Darfield (age 22)
3 DR George Haugen (age 28)
4 DC Pat Gay (age 31)

SQUAD

GOALKEEPERS

NAME AGE CLUB
Joel Latibeaudiere (25 Y/O) Dursten Easterners, Image
Lance Logan (19 Y/O) 1830 Cathair, Image
Mohammad Mandrea (31 Y/O) Other side of paradise, Image

Latibeaudiere, credited for his sharp reflexes and precision is going to remain the first choice goalkeeper of the team and is predicted to start in most of the matches. However Lance Logan is the player who is going to be the player to watch this year. Logan had an impressive performance in the U-18 World Cup, helping his team reach the Quarter Finals. He has been frequently compared to Joel and Joel's position in the team is not going to remain permanent like earlier. Logan saw a surprising move to Audioslavian club, 1830 Cathair which is perhaps the biggest transfer in the history of Brook football. Soham Misra is going to rotate the goalkeepers quite often throughout the qualifying stage. Apart from Joel and Lance, experienced Mohammad Mandrea is also going to remain in the team. Mandrea still continues to perform t Mandrea will not disappoint the team if he is brought into the field at any point of time.

DEFENDERS

NAME AGE CLUB
Nate Harlow (28 Y/O) Dreamland City, Image
Geovani Angeles (20 Y/O) Urrhed FC, Image
Kearyn Caceres (22 Y/O) Steinaux, Image
Adrian Gigore (31 Y/O) AC Dason, Image
Jayden Alonso (23 Y/O) Strange City, Image
Rasihawn Donaldson (26 Y/O) Regiis Dreamland, Image
Rakesh Dutta (28 Y/O) Halebid Warriors, Image
Travor Scott (30 Y/O) Halebid Warriors, Image

The defense is where majority of changes have been made by Misra. The defense now comprises of two new faces in the starting lineup. Caceres is a typical full-back and can play both on the left and right sides. He is quite the safe full-back, who never makes a mistake in defensive positioning. He made a recent departure to Steainaux of Graintfjall in hopes of gaining more experience. Caceres had played really well in the Twin Premier League and that is what caught the attention of manager Soham Misra's attention. Caceres is going to be an experimental starter throughout the qualifiers and his performance in the qualifiers is going to decide his future. The second new comer in the team is young Geovani Angeles who had completed a transfer to Chromatik Urrhed FC. Geovani is young defender who recently won the Twin Premier League with Dreamland City. He has been a very important part in Dreamland's defense and has a bright future ahead of him. Angeles plays a crucial role in the defense and builds the opportunities from the defense. Soham plans of making him play most of the matches to test out his abilities. Apart from the newcomers, there remains the likes of Nate Harlow, the most capped Brook defender. Harlow's specialty is to understand his team no matter which player plays and that makes him the first pick in the team. He evenly makes contributions to the midfield and adapts to his team mates' style on the field very quickly. Adrian Gigore is going to be a starting option at the right back. Gigore is very energetic on the field and the best tackler on the team.
However, Misra would not be playing the starting team at every match as he wants his players to get adequate rest and thus the backup options in the team would be Jayden Alonso, a very fast and energetic player, Alonso focuses on assisting and scoring goals. Tough Rasihawn Donaldson is also going to be there in the team. He has been a good substitute in the team for a long time and his ability to quickly adapt to the field whenever he is brought in is going to be really beneficial for Misra to try out his new team and strategies. Travor Scott who was the initial starter of the team didnt have a good season with Halebid and eventually saw his team getting relegated. Travor however will be in the bench, ready to step into the field and help his fellow teammates.

MIDFIELDERS

NAME AGE CLUB
Jean Jacks (26 Y/O) Swisston City FC,Image
Jean Pierre Polnareff (27 Y/O) Ancarea FC , Image
Laron Veum (26 Y/O) Athletic , Image
Alexis de la Vega (28 Y/O) Other side of paradise, Image
Steve Dolphin (26 Y/O) AFC Richmond, Image
Vincent Mignolet (29 Y/O) Ribar PRD, Image
Andre Vandendriessche (21 Y/O) Halebid Warriors, Image
Andreas Roles (31 Y/O) Other side of paradise, Image

If you want to have a particularly strong team with a good defense and a good attacking lineup, it would be necessary to strengthen the link between them which is the midfield. The midfield is perhaps the strongest point of the Brookstation national team. Starting with Jacks in the left to Veum in the right, the midfield has seen a number of changes this time. Jacks have been performing impressively and has improved a lot playing under Misra over the course of the past few years. Jean Pierre Polnareff is back in the squad, missing out on the last world cup due to an injury. Polnareff was always a great midfielder and in fact it would be safe to say that our win against Nephara came more or less thanks to him. Polnareff would be Brookstation's first choice free kick taker. Finally there would be Veum in the right, will allow him to open attacks from the right. Veum's chemistry with Jacks and Polnareff has been impressive which makes it easier for the team to coordinate better. Veum is a promising midfielder .Veum tends to come deeper and get open inside the hole between the opposition lines which has helped the team to get goals earlier and hopefully will this time also. Alexis de la Vega will also be a regular starter who will be ready to come to the field at any point of the match when required. de la Vega has a lot of experience and he is going to be prepared to come out on the field. Vincent Mignolet is a new inclusion to the team seeing that he performed well in his club in Zeta Reka. Mignolet performs his role well and he exploits wide angles for chance creation. He does this primarily with through balls, where successful ones are important in determining the outcome of a counter-attack.

FORWARDS

NAME AGE CLUB
Leon Michael Robes(c) (28 Y/O) Other side of paradise, Image
John J Johnson (25 Y/O) Space Coast Rockets, Image
Alexander Cust(vc) (35 Y/O) Halebid Warriors, Image
Dwayne Onfroy (30 Y/O) Dreamland City, Image
Moussa Wague (23 Y/O) Regiis Dreamland, Image
Bruce Hoogewarf (18 Y/O) Coolville United FC, Image

There hasn't been any change in the attack as of yet. The attack is going to led by captain Leon Michael Robes as usual. Currently one of the best strikers' in the TPL, scored 30 goals last season and he is by far the most successful captain of Brookstation ever leading Brookstation to their first football trophy. He is a dangerous striker and has a beautiful style of play. Once he gets the ball to his feet, he rarely misses the chance to score. His assistant wingmen would be John J Johnson and Alexander Cust. John has a swift style of play and his long passes help setting up his fellow strikers. He is also a fast and agile winger who can overcome defenders with his speed. Cust is the oldest player in the team but he still remains the team's best dribbler. He is going to be the starting option but Misra will be swapping the strikers quite frequently. Onfroy is the player whom the fans want on the field due to the wide range of tricks he possesses and more importantly due to his ability to pull them off confidently. Wague has been Regiis Dreamland's breakout star this season. He was the top scorer of the Brook Football League and helped his team to get back in the Twin Premier League again. Wague has a good ability of crossing in the forward. And finally there is Hoogewarf, the captain of the U-18 national team who helped them reach the Quarter Finals of the U-18 World Cup. This tournament will be his opportunity to bring out his skills in front of the crowd and prove himself a worthy striker.

Eugenio Tio has been fired from his post as international team manager, with poor on-field performances providing the team only a close scrape into the knockout rounds of AOCAF before finding a quick exit at the hands of Valanora. With team hopes high for the 90th World Cup, the Basian FA has decided to proceed with Gaio Grieco, former coach of second-division side Packer’s Forest. Fans will be hoping that Grieco, a manager that over-achieved at Forest, will be able to do the same with the still-developing national squad.

The old manager’s infamous quirks may be missed (or not) by fans, but the new manager has promised great things from his first tournament in charge, aiming for the knockout rounds, a tall ask for such a new team on the international stage. The fiery offense-only mentality of Tio has been substituted for a more traditional 4-4-2 formation that Grieco has found success with in domestic play.

“If we’re not playing for the top spots, then we shouldn’t be playing at all. It’s a big ask, but at the end of the day, the knockouts are our goal,” the new manager said. “Whether we reach this World Cup, or 5 down the line, that is our aim.”

The fight for the two starting stiker jobs has been brutal, but stars Hideki Nazar and Casildo Hana are likely to be the ones up top for the Golden Crescent’s second World Cup qualifying attempt. Nazar is at his prime, and the young Hana continues to surprise, although the captain’s armband has been rescinded from the youngster by the new manager, who favors midfielder Makin Moghaddam to lead the team on the pitch. In press interviews, Hana has been accepting of the change, notably acknowledging some of the pressure had gotten to him last tournament.

“I’m a young player. I make mistakes. I’m still working and advancing my skills. Gaio understands that more than past managers have,” Hana said. “I’m looking forward to growing into my role on the national team, and hope I can captain it once again in the future.”

Roster

Goalkeepers

Tebrum Bourreau, 27 (L’embac Ourelasia)

Tufail Semaan, 29 (Qadir Rifling)
Lucas Lefebvre, 26 (Automotive Club Franciar)

Tebrum Bourreau has been incredible for his home club, and also impressed in the last tournament, being one of the only players of note in the Golden Crescent’s winless group stage in AOCAF. The agile goalkeeper is looking like he will only improve with time, and it’s truly a shame he didn’t see the lineup for WCQ89. Bourreau is a great leadership presence for the defense, a quality that could not be spoken of past starter Cairo Hatem, who is notably missing from the roster. A subject of likely nepotism, Hatem has fumed in interviews when asked about his exclusion from the squad, calling Grieco a “half-wit” and a “foreigner who knows nothing of Basian sporting merit.”

Tufail Semaan will be the likely replacement if the starting Bourreau falls to injury, a player of interest on the middling and oft-forgotten Qadir Rifling squad. Lefebvre, who closes out the goalkeeping lineup, has been toiling in the background, hoping to find a roster in the Crown Premier League after the tournament to expedite his career. He is unlikely to see much playing time, but may move up to be a solid replacement for Bourreau in future competitions.

Defense

LB, Volfango Di Lello, 29 (Barracelio FC)
CB, Avery Cloutier, 31 (L’embac Ourelasia)
CB, Gilles Bertrand, 29 (L’embac Ourelasia)
RB, Khuld Montemayor, 26 (Alquierdi Crown)

LB, Orgasni Azizi, 24 (L’embac Ourelasia)
CB, Yann Alam, 32 (Basian Blac)
CB, Ausmil Trenuni, 30 (Qadir Rifling)
RB, Jerust King, 25 (Qadir Rifling)

The defense has experienced yet more changes from its AOCAF form, maintaining the 4-back formation, but requiring different players. Instead of the fast wing backs required by Tio’s 4-3-3 formation, the wide defensive players will be more focused defensively, pushing attackers to the wings. Big man Volfango Di Lello showed his talents in Barracelio FC’s title win this year, making his mark on the inaugural league as a premier defensive player and excellent passer from the back. He will likely accept passes from the goalkeeper as the team builds play from the back.

Avery Cloutier also makes a return, a great friend of goalkeeper Tebrum Bourreau. The defensive center backs will benefit from having played together for a season already, and hope to inspire the newcomer Khuld Montemayor, who’s pace and desire to win the ball will serve him well in the transition to international football.

Orgasni Azizi, a talented player, but not big enough to fit into Grieco’s starting lineup will be hoping to bring his A-game on days when Di Lello is rested. An experienced international, if Di Lello doesn’t perform, the younger back may find his way into the regular starting XI again.

Notable newcomers also include Ausmil Trenuni and Jerust King. Ausmil Trenuni is a likely successor to Yann Alam, who is likely nearing the end of his peak. King, however, is an exciting prospect that has flown under the radar at Qadir Rifling, but has some consistency issues. When King is on his game, he rules the pitch, but he can much more likely have a forgettable impact.

Midfield

LM, (C) Makin Moghaddam, 27 (Alquierdi Crown)
CM, Bisma Shehadeh, 30 (Alquerdi Crown)
CM, Mukarram el-Muhammad, 26 (Hatem Phoenix FC)
RM, Leonard Charbonneau, 25 (L’embac Ourelasia)

LM, Raaji Attar, 24 (Ourelasia Hearts)
CM, Abaddon Ghanem, 24 (Basian Blac)
CM, Gaston Barracuda, 26 (L’embac Ourelasia)
RM, Araft Sergeant, 31 (Barracelio FC)

The Midfield is where the Golden Crescent rest their hopes. Moghaddam and his fiery bull-like Shehadeh have been mainstays in the squad, and have been kept in a starting lineup that has experienced a lot of turnover. Moghaddam will play more of a supporting role in the midfield wing, whereas Shehadeh will likely be sent forward to cause the chaos he’s well known for — hopefully assisting in goal scoring chances while he’s at it.

Mukarram el-Muhammad was a key player in his club’s surprise Princely Cup run this past season, and will hope to bring his wily experience to add some defensive structure to the midfield four.

Leonard Charbonneau finishes out the section, offering impeccable speed and pace on the wing. While play will likely focus on the left, opposing defenses should be wary of his ability to cut into the box and pose a threat with his aerial skill.

On the bench sits a talented group of players, from the aging Araft Sergeant that has lost some of his pace, but still has kept his knowledge and exploitation of open space passing, to the young Central Midfield duo in Abaddon Ghanem and Gaston Barracuda. Both of those players are rising stars for their teams, and will hope to impress when the starting midfielders waver. Abaddon Ghanem certainly has tried to emulate Shehadeh, and takes to the pitch with the same type of dogged relentless pressing the latter is known for. This may be the strongest the Basian midfield has ever been in its short history.

Offense

F, Hideki Nazar, 27 (Ourelasia Hearts)
F, Casildo Hana, 21 (Alquierdi Crown)

F, Jan Moustafa, 25 (Hatem Phoenix FC)
F, Bassel Adel, 26 (Hatem Phoenix FC)
F, Akili Granada, 24 (Basian Blac)

The switch from a front three to two complete forwards has been chaotic, to say the least. Nazar and Hana lead the team up top, but a talented duo in Moustafa and Adel hope to pry their way in and prove they belong. Hana is still young, and many have criticized the previous manager for putting too much responsibility on the still-growing player — a situation that has been remedied by the new boss.

Don’t overlook the youngster though, he’s certainly the best young player in Schima Bas right now, and he’s not looking to lose that title anytime soon. Both him and Nazar have found the net consistently, and the offensive tenacity of this team is one to behold for an up-and-coming national team. The offensive touch has improved, and a tendency to shoot from far out has been drilled out of the players, favoring a more in-the-box technique.
