As a first-hand witness, I can summarize it pretty well:

I think the closest thing might have been the ADN-NPO conflict. Especially with the spill over into multi-regional places like The Meritocratic Senate and the development of counter alliances like the Union of Sovereigns. But that was a long time ago now.
