The country, which is also a member of SACTO, put Carloso on a list of countries with confirmed cases of CaBI19, even though there was only one individual with the disease and who has now recovered. Meanwhile, it is believed Tobón and Minister for External Affairs Aarón Delgado will be meeting with the Potomiakian Ambassador to Carloso later tonight to discuss the crisis in Kesslerstaadt. The Jakarnapuran Ambassador is scheduled to meet with the President tomorrow morning.

This is definitely welcome news: probiotics has helped bring CaBI19's mortality rate to zero according to RTC - and we've performed our first in vitro tests of the experimental cure as well. The cure was able to do a great number of casualties on C. abbadoni in vitro (though I'm pretty skeptical it would translate well to in vivo, which we'd be hard-pressed to know considering ethical issues with testing this in live specimens). Phage therapy combined with moderate strength antibiotics and probiotic supplements would, I believe, be a good cure regimen for those afflicted by CaBI19 - but its effectiveness remains to be seen until clinical trials would be performed. Next phase would include - and I believe this is gonna be harder to pull off - in vitro testing of the combined phage and probiotic therapy in an in vitro setup simulating the human gut microbiome.

Meanwhile my mates at the Palmyrian Centre of Genomic Studies and the National Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology have done a good job at successfully culturing the pathogen under tightly controlled conditions for the purpose of gene sequencing and for use as shooting targets for our in vitro tests - and while that's good news, they have bad news: the bacterium has an extremely fast rate of binary fission. Nevertheless we're on to sequencing the pathogen now - and if things go according to plan, the sequence would be available within the next two weeks. Stay tuned, y'all.

For clarification, CaBI19 has a near-1 probability of killing the patient if detected late OR the patient had previous underlying immune system impairments.
Right now, scientists estimate a live culture of C. aba in a normal healthy adult would take 6-18 months to overpower and outcompete native tissue flora and begin showing symptoms. The high rate of terminal cases in Kesslerstaadt is likely due to a combination of 1) patients that have been infected for some time, 2) cases of secondary infection (given the high nature of HIV rampant in that area)

University of Palmyrion Successfully Tests Cure For and Sequences Genome of CaBI19

• Treatment regime to be refined, enter clinical trial stages; ethical concerns raised

ARAGON CITY, METRO ARAGON, PALMYRION: The University of Palmyrion has announced two major breakthroughs related to the CaBI19 pathogen: one, that a prototype treatment regime has been successfully tested, and two: that CaBI19's genome has been sequence on top of its basic physiology and pathogenic mechanism being characterised.

"The genome of C. abbadoni has been successfully sequenced by our team. On top of that, we have further detailed CaBI19's pathogenic mechanism and other bacteriological characteristics." Dr. Louise Carlyn Villahermosa, project head of the team assigned to characterise the bacterium and develop a cure for the disease, said in an televised press conference just outside the building of the Institute of Biology earlier today. "The more we know about our enemy, the more able are we in fighting against it." she added.

From available declassified results, Dr. Villahermosa's team successfully tested a combination of bacteriophage therapy and probiotics in an in vivo set-up. Various antibiotics, "bacteriophage cocktails", and probiotic treatments were tested rigorously over the course of eight days starting March 4; these tests supplied the researchers with enough data to firmly conclude that a bacteriophage therapy is feasible in curing the disease, alongside moderate-strength antibiotics and probiotic supplements. The treatment regimen is set to enter clinical trials next week, though not without ethical concerns being raised by the medical community.

Meanwhile, the results of the characterisation of the bacterium - including its genetic sequence - have been uploaded and are now available online; the characterisation results, most especially the sequence, are publicly available in relevant media, according to the UP Aragon Institute of Medicine. The characterisation data and the sequence will also be updated as time goes by.

Happy Unification Day: 127 Years of Guadalupador

Divouga, Guadalupador On this day in 1893, the three Central Dorian States unified into one federal polity known as Guadalupador. After two years of intense fighting off an invasion by the Seitrian Empire, the leaders of the countries of Nosamo, Olahn, and Enrico met to sign what was at the time a temporary charter to unify their command structures to more effectively fight the Seitran invaders out of their lands and force them back southward. The union, known as a Guadalupador, hearkening back to the 9th century descriptor of what the Dorians considered themselves "The People of the Guadala River and Lupan Cliffs," gradually pushed the Seitrans back south and forced a formal peace settlement through the Olahn Accords in December of 1895. With the end of the war, the united Dorian state was then formalized as the Federation of Guadalupador.
