Some simple restating of the position by another. The statement they made was;The Valorumists have a desire to completely delegitimize Palpatine.
However, Palpatine did lie to the Senate and, had he been caught, it wouldn't have been too hard to throw a treason charge his way. They don't necessarily see his election to the senate as unlawful, but, because of the perjury, the vote of nonconfidence that led to him becoming supreme chancellor was, so the vesting of emergency powers and any law passed by the republic after said vesting of emergency powers are therefore unlawful
In one phrase, they want a return to the legal framework pre-Palpatine rather than pre-Empire that the Amadalist want
... Actually rereading that statement they made - such doesn't make sense the way it did last week. As it's clearly stated here; These Old Republicans see the election of Palpatine as Supreme Chancellor as unlawful, since it has become clear that the Sith Lord orchestrated the Clone Wars and the trade blockade of Naboo for his own political purposes. Since he lied to the Senate, the reasoning goes, the motion of no confidence in Valorum was null and void, and his removal was as well. So, the vesting of emergency powers in Palpatine was unlawful as well. Legally, this would mean the Republic automatically reverts to the form it had when Valorum was still chancellor.
While Palpatine manipulated things his election was lawful, and the blockade- and lack of action- despite a security force- by Valorum was a tipping point in the vote of no confidence. So I think, I'll stick with Taul's position.Valorumists - Taul Le does not believe the election of Palpatine to have been illegal. It was part of a conspiracy but a well planned one where upon the rise of Palpatine utilized the republic's laws skillfully. She does not see Palpatine's election as unlawful, nor does she believe the New Republic to be a Restored Republic that would default to a prior government if such election was ruled unlawful. She doesn't agree with them on this being the same republic of old nor that the election was illegal.
Sure, Taul doesn't like Palpatine, and yes a pre-Palpatine government would be beneficial to her aims but she doens't in the IC I think yet (like myself) see the argument they hold as a suitable interpretation of the law.

Name: Piodas Marcona
Age: 56 (50 BBY)
Species: Human
Appearance:A younger Piodas, before he ceased dyeing his hair black from grey.
Planet of origin: Anaxes
Rank and title: Grand Admiral and Supreme Leader of the Coalition for the Preservation of Order and Prosperisy
Short biography: If there is any single man that can be said to have lived galactic history in recent memory, it is Piodas Marcona. Born to a family that had served in the Republic Judicial Forces for generations, Piodas' career was set for him from birth, as much as he resented it in his younger years. He went through the Anaxes War College, serving in the Republic Judicial Forces until being enrolled into the Grand Army of the Republic, fighting Clone Wars and Outer Rim Sieges, becoming a captain by the time of the Battle of Coruscant and the end of the Clone Wars where he lost his eye.
Although he had loyalty to the Republic instilled into him during his time with the Judicial Forces, he also saw firsthand the corruption within the Republic, and quietly celebrated the transition to Empire, hoping that the combination of peace and new, strong government would restore peace and prosperity to the Galaxy, and so he continued to loyally serve, hunting down Separatist remnants. He realised he was wrong too late. The Death Star was a wake-up call to him, a weapon of brute, pointless undirected tyranny. It's destruction he reacted to with silent relief, and he enthusiastically took up the hunt for the remaining Rebels across the northern end of the Outer Rim which he was responsible for both militarily and in terms of civilian governance. The destruction of the Second Death Star and the surge of the New Republic with popular uprisings and mass desertions from the military in the wake of it resulted in Piodas creating a bastion of Imperial order amidst the collapsing government and petty warlords that rose up in the chaos, subjugating some, allying with others and simply destroying more. Although having restored order to the galactic north, morale and desertions remain a problem, as does infighting within his rather fractious coalition.
Political information
Political views: Piodas is an Imperial hardliner through and through, but of no loyalty to Palpatine personally.
Political faction and subfaction: Early Imperialist.
Organisational allegiance: Imperial Warlords.
Position within galactic government: Imperial Warlord.
Political goal: Maintain and advance his own power. Solidify his grasp on his coalition. Restoring the Empire remains a long way off and more of a distant pipe dream than anything actively sought.
Favourable factions: Imperial Warlords, potentially Status Quo and Early Imperials within the New Republic, maybe Palpatinists at a stretch.
Unfavourable factions: Everyone else. He's too dangerous to be left alive.
Key issue: N/A.

Name: Roshas Hullath
Age: 60s
Species: Ithorian
Appearance:(Image)
Planet of origin: Ithor
Rank and title: Senator of Ithor and the Ottega sector, and the High Vate of Ithor
Short biography:Roshas Hullath was born on the planet Ithor in 63 BBY. His ancestry was relatively unremarkable, but he did have an uncle who was among the Elders of the Ithorians. Born into a large family, Roshas was often neglected during his childhood, and struggled to distinguish himself. Preforming poorly in his schooling, Roshas decided to dedicate himself fully to his faith in the Ithorian religion. He frequented to dwell within the sacred jungles of Ithor instead of attending school, and write and ponder upon his surroundings. He came to have a great interest in poetry and theology. Priests would note Roshas' piety and devotion to his faith, and when he reached adulthood, his local priest asked him if he would like to become a cleric. Hullath happily accepted the offer, and studied at a religious institute aboard an Ithorian herdship known as Verdure's Splendor. There he would learn next to everything about the Ithorian religion, and became an expert theologian. After his studies, he took his priestly oaths, and became a cleric in 38 BBY.
Roshas would become well-known within his herd, and was often regarded as wise and compassionate. He would often give powerful and thought-provoking sermons to the laity, which came to be renown. Due to their popularity, Roshas' sermons were broadcasted via holonet throughout all of Ithor, as well as upon many Herdships and Ithorian colonies. These sermons made Roshas into a celebrity of sorts, and the devout Ithorian people deeply respected him and took great interest in his speeches. The religious hierarchy was quite impressed with him, and promoted him to be the Priest of a herdship of his own choosing. Hullath decided on claiming ecclesiastical jurisdiction over Verdure's Splendor, where he had studied at some time ago. Under his command, the herdship would seldom leave the orbit of Ithor, partly because the planet was especially dear to Hullath himself, and he disliked being away from it. In 36 BBY, he was given control of the theological institute upon the herdship, which had previously been administrated separately from the rest of the ship. There he spent much of his time, spending countless hours in the great libraries of the institute, as well as teaching to the many seminarians.
Many Ithorians wished for Roshas to be their High Priest, the leader of the species. Though the Elders were not fond of him, partly because he was not of noble ancestry, like them. But the Elders couldn't ignore the great popularity Roshas held with the people, nor his influence with the clergy. So they made a compromise with Hullath, granting him the position of High Vate of Ithor, the head prelate of the planet. This position was separate from that of the High Priest, as many had hoped Roshas to be made, though Hullath was unambitious and took his appointment to the office with great enthusiasm. Roshas served as the High Vate for a few years, and he was very popular and loved by the faithful. In 34 BBY, Senator Tendau Bendon, who represented Ithor in the Galactic Senate, requsted Roshas to become his religious advisor. Hullath was deeply honored, but he was reluctant to leave Ithor and join Bendon on Coruscant. Though he believed that he could better serve his people within the powerful Senate, as well as make sure the Ithorian senator voted on matters acceptable to the faith, as well as vote against bills that were perceived to be blasphemous, or morally wrong.
So Hullath departed Verdure's Splendor and traveled to Coruscant. He was enthusiastically received at the office of Senator Bendon. The Senator was a great fan of Hullath, and he said that he loved to listen to the priest's holonet broadcasts. Roshas was honored by this, and he said that he was a supporter of Bendon, to which the Senator was pleased with. The two would eventually become good friends. For many years would Roshas advise Bendon, and he would make the Senator quite learned in the Ithorian faith. Though Roshas knew little of politics, and he asked Bendon if he could mentor him in the subject, which the Senator was more than happy to do. The priest would be mentored in politics by the veteran Senator, and he eagerly learnt all he could about the subject. Roshas took a great interest in politics, and it allowed him to better advise Bendon. Soon he became quite well versed in the subject, and he was more politically knowledgeable than even some senators, these being the incompetent and corrupt ones. Wanting to give back to Roshas for his sage advise and friendship, Senator Bendon invited Roshas to stand beside him in the Senate, which he reluctantly agreed to after much deliberation. Though he would quickly become accustomed to the place, and soon he became a permanent member of the senatorial delegation of the Ithorian species.
Roshas would stand at Bendon's side for such events like the Blockade of Naboo, the Separatist Crisis, the Clone Wars, and the proclamation of the Empire. Roshas found himself supporting polices that strengthened the central government, such as the Taxation of the Free Trade Zones, and the Military Creation Act. He championed order and stability, and wished to preserve the Republic above all else. In his mentoring under Bendon he had learnt much of the Galactic Republic, and he found himself very fond of the institution. Though he had great disdain for the many Commerce Guilds and megacorporations which often defied Republic authority. These companies began to thrive in the Outer Rim, and Roshas felt that the Republic was greatly threatened in the area because of the corporations' influence there. Thus he supported acts like the Taxation of the Free Trade Zones with much vigor, for it would put much needed regulations upon the megacorporations, and because a certain Senator Palpatine of Naboo promised the Ithorians that the tax money collected there would be invested back into the areas where the free trade zones where, and this include Ithor. Senator Bendon would find himself disagreeing with his pupil on many subjects, like the Military Creation Act, which he was vehemently opposed to, but of which Roshas supported. Though despite their pollical disagreements, they continued to be good friends, though Roshas sometimes strained their relationship by claiming bills that he did not personally support where heretical to the Ithorian religion, using his high clerical rank to somewhat intimidate Bendon into voting for what he wanted. This method of pressuring Bendon would continue for many years, and Bendon himself soon became unperturbed by it, and voted for what Roshas wanted almost without question. For he wanted to make sure to keep himself popular with the very devout Ithorian people, lest he be seen as agnostic or an atheist, and be not be reelected.
Believing that the Republic needed to be able to protect itself more, Roshas was a fervent supporter of the Military Creation Act. He saw the many megacorporations festering in the Outer Rim were threats to the Republic, and spoke against laws that allowed the corporations to have their own Droid armies, for he knew that one day, these 'security' forces would be used in battle against the Republic. So he thought the only way to prevent big business from overtaking the Senate was to create a military capable of not only defending Republic-aligned systems, but also be able to go out and subdue the enemies of the state. He saw the Trade Federation's blockade of Naboo as the megacorporations showing their true colors, and spoke against the move greatly in the Senate. He instructed Bendon to vote in favor of the No Confidence vote of Chancellor Valorum, for he viewed him as innefectual. Roshas came to support Palpatine, and was in favor of giving the Chancellor more powers, for he belevied the Chancellor would need to be a strong position to stand up to the megacorporations. During the Separatist crisis, Roshas believed that the megacorporations were behind the Separatist cause, and that the secessionist movement was artificial and fake. He 'persuaded' Bendon to vote for bills that proposed to strengthen the central government, for the Republic would need to be strong and centralized if it were to be able to resist the separatists. When the Clone Wars broke out, Roshas was greatly distraught, partially because he had hoped that diplomacy might prevail before war. Though once the war was underway, he supported Chancellor Palpatine and the cause for renunciation under the Republic. He hoped for a swift end to war, where the seceded systems would be brought back under Republic control without much bloodshed. But the war dragged on for years, and Roshas founf himself in favor of giving more powers to the Chancellor so that he may oversee the war's end more swiftly. Though finally his friend Bendon intervened and told Roshas that he belevied Palpatine to be a tyrant, and that he would not vote to give the man any more power. Roshas was taken aback by this, though he eventually came to agree with Bendon. So he beame disillusioned with Palpatine, and viewed him as power hungry and a threat to the Republic. Bendon would later join the Delegation of 2000, and become a public opponent of the Chancellor, to Roshas' support.
Roshas was relieved when the Clone Wars ended in a Republic victory, but he was distraught to hear about the supposed Jedi betrayal, and was horrified of the proclamation of the Empire. Since Senator Tendau Bendon had been an opponent of Palpatine, Imperial Intelligence arrested him along with his aides during the treason investigation of many members of the Delegation of 2000. Bendon, Roshas, and another aide of the Senator, Orlator, were all arrested, questioned, intimidated, and in the case of Orlator, who was especially hostile to interrogation, killed. The aide's death deeply affected Tendau, and he suffered somewhat of a breakdown. He became disillusioned with politics altogether, and was adamant on resigning at once. His friend Roshas tried to console him, and convince him to stay, but Bendon would have none of it. With the position of Senator soon to be open, the Elders of Ithor had to choose a new representative. They quickly learnt that Roshas' popularity had not waned even slightly in his time away from Ithor, and the populace came out in almost unanimous support for Hullath to be made the next Senator. This time there would be no 'compromise,' and the Elders were almost forced to make Roshas the new Senator. He would be quickly made Senator of Ithor and the Ottega system, and sent back to Coruscant to take up his new position in the Imperial Senate.
The now Senator Hullath quickly learnt that the Senate had changed much under Imperial rule. He noticed the new preference of Human senators, which disgusted him. He also discovered that the senate had lost much of its power, and its influence would only wane as time went on. He would come to detest the Empire, and was eager to participate in opposition to it. Though there wasn't much he could do that wouldn't me met with violence against him or his people. So Roshas would only speak out on matters he viewed were safe to speak against, knowing that Imperial Intelligence was always watching him. For years and even decades he would be the Ithorian representative, and as time dragged on, he would come to hate the Empire more and more. Its legalization of slavery especially angered the Senator. Though while Roshas was in favor of the centralization of the galaxy and wished for there to be a strong Chancellor, he believed the Empire had twisted and corrupted these noble beliefs to sponsor tyranny and oppression. For the Empire's rulers were power hungry autocrats who cared only for themselves, and disregarded the needs of their constituents, and the wellbeing of the galaxy as a whole. Roshas knew that the Empire had implanted itself too deep within the galaxy to be uprooted via votes or demonstrations, and came to the belief that only through way of military force could the Republic be reinstated. And so when the Alliance to Restore the Republic was formed, Roshas became a supporter of it. He clandestinely allowed the Rebels to set up bases within the more desolate planets within the Ottega system, as well as the right to move ships in and out of the sector. The Senator sent a couple representatives of his to Rebel bases, most importantly at Yavin 4. He wished that he could help the Rebels more, but he knew that if the Empire discovered his support for them, his people would be dearly suffer.
When the Imperial Senate was dissolved in 0 BBY, Roshas was furious. He knew that the Senate had been greatly diminished in power, but he viewed its dissolution as a final act of treachery from Palpatine. He went back to Ithor and held many religious services as the High Vate there, and he often requested for the Mother Jungle deity to bless the cause of the Rebel Alliance. This alarmed many Ithorians, but they too became Rebel sympathizers when news of the obliteration of Alderaan reached Ithor. The planet along with the rest of the Ottega system became a haven for Rebel activity, though this would finally be discovered by Imperial probes soon after the Battle of Yavin. After the destruction of the Death Star, the Empire began a series of assaults intended to avenge the weapon's demise. One of these assaults was upon Ithor. Spies had discovered that an attack was incoming, and the Rebels sent a force to evacuate many Ithorians, Roshas among them. These evacuees would be spared the brutal Imperial military occupation. Roshas promised his people that Ithor and the Ottega system would be liberated from the Empire, and he was greatly devoted to this cause. Roshas became a high-ranking member within the Rebellion, and he befriended many Rebel leaders and commanders. He yearned for the defeat of the Empire and the liberation of his people, and held many religious services that implored the Gods to grant the Rebels victory over tyranny, and he also held many services for fallen Rebel soldiers. With the victory at Endor and the destruction of the Second Death Star, with the Emperor aboard, Roshas was overjoyed. He insisted on sending Rebel forces to secure the Ottega system, which had immediately seceded from the Empire upon hearing of the Rebel victory. Rebel commanders finally obliged him, and sent a detachment to secure the system. Ithor and Ottega had a miniscule Imperial presence, and it was quickly defeated by the Rebels. Roshas fulfilled his promise to the Ithorian people and was celebrated as a hero upon his return to Ithor. Though he wished not only to liberate the Ithorians from Imperial rule, but the whole galaxy. Roshas is a vehement anti-Imperial, and wishes for all collaborators to be legally punished, and for tribunals to be set up to try ex-Imperials for their many crimes. He also sees the necessity of a strong Republic military to route out the last of the Old Order.
