In-character thread

When the Death Star was blasted, it was enough to silence the whole battle in an instant. It’s not like we had much choice; the flash was enough to temporarily blind everyone who had their eyes open. Turbolaser batteries and laser cannons fell silent, fighter craft reorganized. Most of the next 20 minutes was spent manoeuvring out of the way of the biggest debris. Among veterans of the battle, it is known as the Blind Truce.

I think nobody among us, at least not in my own fighter wing, had thought about what would happen after the Death Star was destroyed. In our minds, we assumed we would win. Thinking back, however strange it might sound, we believed that there would be a large title card in the sky saying ‘YOU WON’. Of course, as we now well known, that did not happen. The 20 minute truce became 30 minutes… then 45… then an hour…

With the destruction of the Executor, there was no clear command structure anymore among the imperials. While they were deciding who was in charge, both sides performed manoeuvres for the eventuality that the battle would recommence. At the beginning we feared that very eventuality, since the imperial fleet still outgunned us 20:1. But, as the day progressed, more and more Star Destroyers jumped out into hyperspace, and more and more of our own cruisers entered the system. Three hours after the destruction of the Death Star, the majority of the remaining Star Destroyers struck their colours. My guess is that with the shock of losing the Death Star and the emperor in the same instant, as well as Darth Vader, with half their fleet jumping away in disarray, they did not exactly know what they would be fighting for if they resumed, either tactically or strategically.

The next few hours were, and are still, the strangest I have come to witness in my years serving the rebellion. The Star Destroyers were reduced to skeleton crews, in case the imperial captains managed to rediscover their courage. Every two minutes a shuttle landed in our frigate’s hangar bay. Out strode hundreds of imperial marines and storm troopers, helmets and caps removed, disarmed. Some utterly spent and downtrodden, others clearly relieved and let up. One storm trooper even shook my hand and thanked me.

What I remember most about the fall of the empire was… how quiet it was. Admiral Ackbar, probably knowing more than he let on, set a course straight for Coruscant. While he might have figured that it would be mostly defenceless, we of course did not. We did not know what to expect above Imperial Centre. For all we knew, we would be blasted to bits as soon as we left hyperspace. Of course, Home One now housed the biggest collection of naval officers outside of Prefsbelt IV, and they were as much guests as they were hostages. Still, our Nebulon B only housed pilots, sailors and troopers. We wondered if they would be as kind to us.

Luckily, when we fell out of hyperspace above Coruscant, we were not met with a blast of turbolasers. The imperial naval garrison had been stripped in order to strengthen the forces at Endor, and now there were only a few Star Destroyers left. The governor of the planet surrendered in return for keeping his position during the transition. The imperial army units defected soon after, and managed to arrest and execute a lot of courtesans before we even managed to touch down our first transports. I guess they were just as happy as we were that the imperial navy lost its position of power, and they wanted to show how willing they were to cooperate.

We have been in orbit around Coruscant for two weeks now. Slowly, the situation has begun to take shape. The more days pass, the more we realise that it was not as simple as destroying the emperor and breaking his fleet. We all assumed that things would revert to the way we wanted it to be… not realising that what everyone wanted is as different as night is to day. Politics was not a topic among rebels. We all assumed it went without saying. Now we are not rebels anymore, and we are waking up to the realisation that we would have done well to at least discuss for a moment what we were fighting for.

Hello and welcome to this; a political roleplay about the rise of the New Republic in the Star Wars universe. First things first: this is neither a legends nor a canon roleplay. Rather, this roleplay takes the original trilogy and the prequels, and builds further on that legacy. That way, you are allowed a lot of freedom in this interesting time in galactic politics, as long as it adheres to strict movie canon.

This roleplay will mainly focus on a theme of disillusion. The empire is defeated, the rebels stand totally victorious, and yet, the end is not in sight. Unlike what Return of the Jedi seemed to imply, the death of an empire did not immediately herald freedom and democracy. Unlike Legends, however, this roleplay will also not focus on the civil war dragging on, and the splintering of the imperials. The empire has been taken over, now the politics begin. And rebels are increasingly finding out that the people they thought of as their brothers and sisters hold dramatically different views from their own.

In this here roleplay you will be able to take on any named or original character, as long as they have political relevance. And that political relevance here is construed very broadly. Even if you do not hold an official position within the New Republic, there are ways to influence those politics. However, I will try to achieve a broad representation of players in the various factions, and I will only allow imperial warlords when there are enough players in the New Republic itself.

The New Republic is politically splintered into many factions. While I will describe some factions, you are free to think of your own. I am also asking anyone to think about more issues the galaxy has to face. The list below is just a small number of the issues currently being discussed, and there is a lot more, even when not considering that the galaxy still needs to be run.

I won't be taking on a character, but I will be running the universe behind the scenes based on the choices your characters make. Realistic simulation and narrative considerations will be equally important here.

FACTIONS
    New Republicans
A umbrella term for a larger group of people, the New Republicans believe that the Old Republic was destroyed because of some form of heavy shortcoming. There is vehement disagreement about what this shortcoming actually was. Some believe the galaxy was not centralised enough, while others believe that it was too centralised. Some lay the blame with the electoral system of having one senator per planet, others still think the Jedi are to blame. The New Republicans are divided into a few subfactions who disagree as much with one another as they do with the other factions.

  • Centralists
Centralists want to create a strong, centralised government. They look back at the trade federation blockade of Naboo and see that the republic was too powerless to stop such a blatant violation of the constitution. The trade federation having its own army eventually lead to the Clone Wars. Centralists want to dismantle local planetary governments in favour of a single centralised republic.
  • Decentralists/Sovereignists
Decentralists are of the opposite persuasion. They feel that the fault of the republic was in being too centralised, laying too much power in the hands of both one person, the Supreme Chancellor, and in the Core Systems. While not very public about this fact, many Decentralists are old Separatists, which hampers them in their public relations. They are also vocal about their support for the Outer Rim systems, which they feel have been neglected.
  • Parliamentarians
Parliamentarians find the ills of the Old Republic in its voting system. While some planets have billions of inhabitants and some have closer to the tens of thousands, every planet has equal representation in the Senate. They believe the Senate should be in some way proportional to population. In what way, however, they have not figured out, which leads to much disagreement within this subfaction. The members of this faction have founded their own Parliament, as rival to the Senate, on Corellia. This body is as of yet only partially elected, and uses most of its time to discuss the fine detail of electoral reform.

    Old Republicans
Old Republicans are much more united in their goal. They just want to see the Old Republic restored the way it was before the rise of the empire. They believe that the rise of the empire was illegal, and that the Republic this automatically reverts to the old systems. They support electing a Supreme Chancellor and starting over like before the empire, while the New Republicans feel that a new constitution needs to be drawn up. Even the Old Republicans have internal disagreements, however, divided into two factions.

  • Valorumists
These Old Republicans see the election of Palpatine as Supreme Chancellor as unlawful, since it has become clear that the Sith Lord orchestrated the Clone Wars and the trade blockade of Naboo for his own political purposes. Since he lied to the Senate, the reasoning goes, the motion of no confidence in Valorum was null and void, and his removal was as well. So, the vesting of emergency powers in Palpatine was unlawful as well. Legally, this would mean the Republic automatically reverts to the form it had when Valorum was still chancellor.
  • Amidalists
Unable to call themselves Palpatinists, both for fear of attaching themselves to the late emperor and for confusion with the actual imperial Palpatinists faction, Amidalists believe that the strong leadership of Palpatine was something to be desired. They see the problem in the vesting of emergency power, or alternatively the proclamation of the empire. However, they see no problem with a strong chancellor, as long as he does not proclaim said empire. There is vehement disagreement between Decentralists and Amidalists, because their views of the Republic are entirely contradictory.

    Imperials
No faction is as broad as the imperial faction, but despite the splintering there still is a lot of unity within this faction. The many subfactions of imperials, only united by wanting some form of empire, have managed to largely put aside their differences in order to influence galactic politics. However, they are also largely distrusted, and unconfirmed rumours are circulating that indicate some form of cooperation between the imperial factions and the still unaccounted for imperial Warlords. The imperial faction denies these claims, of course.

  • Early Imperials
The Early Imperials are perhaps the most moderate of the imperial faction. It consists mostly of imperial officers and administrators that laid down their duty after Palpatine abolished the Senate after the completion of the Death Star. These are in vehement opposition of the Tarkin doctrine, but believe the galaxy needs strong leadership as well as advice from the Senate. Since some of these defected to the rebel alliance after the destruction of the first Death Star, some rebels share these sentiments.
  • Status Quo
These imperials don’t see anything wrong with the empire in principle. They just disagree with the way Palpatine ran things, for one reason or another, but do want to come out on top. This subfaction holds many imperial army officers, but also civilians and arms industrialists like Kuat.
  • Palpatinists
More a scapegoat than anything else, this fringe faction of Palpatine loyalists have undying devotion to the late emperor. Some have not accepted that he is dead, while others want revenge for his demise. They seek to run the empire in the exact same way that Palpatine did, with religious devotion if necessary. They are desperately seeking for a force user to take on the role of emperor. Because Palpatine promoted loyalty above competence, these imperials are the least capable of performing the political wrangling necessary to fulfil their goals, and mainly make enemies through their violent opposition to all other factions.

    Radicals
The Radical faction is less a faction and more a collective term for very different ideologies. They are neither imperials not republicans, but seek some other form of government. There are radicals who want to see some kind of theocracy under the New Jedi Order. Others want complete wealth redistribution or a galaxy without any overarching governing body. These groups are relevant, because they are made up of various well-trained and zealous armed bands that lend their support to the rebel alliance. With the war over, however, they quickly feel their influence slipping away, and they retreat back to the planets where they came from to exert force locally.

    Separatists
Unlike the Separatists of old, these planets do not seek to form a new Republic or Confederacy. They simply want nothing to do with galactic governance anymore, having been disillusioned by the way the Republic slipped into the empire. There are many planets of non-human races that want to follow this course, since the human-centric empire was hardest on them. These groups were allied to the rebels against the empire, but with the empire defeated and the rebellion wanting to recreate some kind of republic, the goals of these groups have become more and more opposed. For the New Republic, these groups have become most problematic because they make up a substantial arm of the New Republic army, fought the hardest to defeat the empire, and control some vital sectors.

    Warlords
The imperial remnants. After the battle of Endor, the imperial navy did not cease to exist. The imperial elements which did not surrender or defect to the New Republic, a minority overall, fled to outlying systems to establish themselves there. These systems constantly shift alliances, for there are as many subfactions within these remnants as there are within the New Republic. They join and leave the Republic at will, looking for amnesty or blood money if they so wish. Their main problem lies in their big fleets, which though unassailable require massive maintenance. Also, more and more of the lower ranking troopers desert every day, sometimes taking entire ships with them.

ISSUES

Slavery
The empire instituted a system of racist slavery, among Wookies and Geonosians in particular. This system of slavery persists. Some seek to abolish it, but the outer rim economies have for a large part come to depend on cheap labour to survive. Abolishing slavery means dooming these societies, but the evil of slavery cannot be allowed to persist in many eyes, especially since to many freed slaves fought and died for the Alliance. Especially the Wookies are adamant in this position.
Current status: NO CHANGE

Criminality
The Empire had an unspoken agreement with the Hutt cartels and other criminal enterprises, wherein they would assist the empire in return for the empire not upsetting their business too much. Many feel that the Hutt cartels have allowed to exist for far too long. Yet, the galaxy is exhausted by the civil war, and not ready for another bloody offensive info the outer rim territories where the cartels nestle. Jungle warfare would undoubtedly be the result, and that is without mentioning the many assassination attempts against chief politicians that would follow.
Current status: NO CHANGE

Amnesty
Crimes were committed during the reign of the empire. Unspeakable crimes. From Operation Knightfall to Order 37, the Tarkin Doctrine, genocide, mass executions, use of slave labour and the destruction of Jedha and Alderaan. Not only the top brass were involved, but many mid-level officers and troopers as well. Outside of the military, civilians and companies cooperated here as well. To make matters worse, the rebels also committed terrible atrocities. There are questions about who is to blame, whether there should be a tribunal set up, and who should be tried by this tribunal. Also, whether warlords should receive amnesty in return for their cooperation is a sensitive issue. The Alderaanians, Wookies and Geonosians are probably the most vocal about their support for a tribunal and capital punishment.
Current status: NO CHANGE

The Banks
The banking clan was long under imperial sway, and the empire borrowed enormous sums in order to pay for their construction projects, among which the extension of the Kuat shipyards and the construction of the two death stars. Palpatine used his influence to make sure that he had to pay as little interest as possible, and the plan was always to pay back the banks with the scrapping of the rebel fleet and the Mon Calamari shipyards, and selling the captures rebels into slavery. Palpatine also thought that he would one day be too powerful for the banks. This obviously never came to fruition, but if the galactic financial system is to survive, these banks will need their credits back. And while the empire could not be sued, the Republic would be able to be dragged before a court if it chooses to re-establish that accountability.
Current status: NO CHANGE

Racism
Apart from the slavery, the imperial system was also racist in many other ways. Many non-humans lost their property in favour of humans. Many of these humans did not know the origins of their property, and simply settled on imperial worlds when they got the chance. Now these non-humans are returning from the slums and prison centres they were forced into, and finding their property stolen and occupied by others.
Current status: NO CHANGE

The Military
The imperial military is powerful. Generals and admirals hold positions of power, many worlds and individuals are dependent on the military for their income. Some people don’t know any other craft than the soldier’s trade. It is also ridiculously expensive, kept afloat by loans and slave labour, as well as the spoils of war. With the war over, however, and slavery looking to be abolished, the imperial military will no longer be sustainable by the Republican budget. The question is whether ¾ of the military will be disbanded peacefully, and what effect that will have.
Current status: NO CHANGE

The Veterans
The Civil War was terrible. Some people lost their lives, others lost limbs, hearing, or sight. Some people lost their sleep over the terrible dreams. Others lost their homes, and many Alderaanians lost their entire home planet. These people need help. The question is how much the Republic will be able to give, and who they want to give it to. For every rebel wounded there is an imperial trooper with the same injuries. And there are the old Clones still, many of whom are scattered throughout the galaxy without just compensation for their services.
Current status: NO CHANGE

The Refugees
The Civil War has displaced not only towns, villages or cities, but entire planets. Quarren, Mon Calamari, Alderaanians, Wookies, Geonosians, Kaminoans, Twi’Lek and members of every other species have been forced from their homes, either into refugee camps, service for the rebellion, or shanty towns on desolate frontier planets. Their homes have either been destroyed or taken up by imperial loyalists. Whether they are to be resettled, or whether they should make the most of the current situation, is hotly debated.
Current status: NO CHANGE

The Economy
Following the destruction of the Civil War, especially in the outer rim, basic commodities have become prohibitively expensive. Industries have been retrofitted to service wartime need, and in peacetime people are beginning to feel the effects of this. Food prices are increasing, as are joblessness and consumer debt. Meanwhile, poverty is rampant due to the lack of social programs within the Empire, where people were forced to join the imperial army if they wanted an escape from their worsening living conditions. Careful economic policy will be required to stave off starvation.
Current status: NO CHANGE

The Jedi
The Jedi made many mistakes in the past. They were indispensable too. They both protected the Republic from threats and led to her ultimate downfall at the hands of Palpatine and, more importantly, Vader. There still exists distrust throughout the galaxy towards the Jedi. Luke has a clear plan for rebuilding the Order, taking the temple away from Coruscant and rebuilding the one on Yavin, to take the Jedi away from the centre of power. However, the question is how much liberty Luke will have in this. The New Republic has varying opinions on whether the Jedi should be placed under the direct command of the chancellor, or whether they should exist at all. Many fear force users after Palpatine and Vader, so it will be tough for Luke to build the Order he wants without outside interference and compromise.
Current status: NO CHANGE

I'm interested of this and I'm reserving my post for a future application.
This may be my first ever Star Wars RP to join and I have a lot to read/learn about it.
Leader of DACOROMANIA, Founder of Roman Byzantine Union.

I wish to save human race and to build a new nation-state, with ideals like human rights, peace and prosperity for all despite of any difference, avoiding the tyranny and preserving the liberty. To grow, to aid and save each other. Also going interstellar. Even if abandoned by family and nobody cares, I wish to do something important in life before to die, something that may really count.
I'm so alone on Earth and I see how the world may fall into chaos. All looks irrational and immoral. It's a pain to not be able to do anything and to be surrounded by barbarians.

Additional
Relations with other players: NO CHANGE
Additional info:
Born in 43BBY, Covylus came from a relatively unremarkable family of shipbuilders in Corellia.
In 32 BBY (aged 11), news of a Trade Federation plot against the pacifist planet of Naboo became household discussion for a few months until the crisis was ultimately resolved.
In 26 BBY (aged 17), he was enrolled for the Corellian shipbuilding academies to follow in the path of his father before him, however he ultimately refused and dropped out.
In 25 BBY (aged 18), he managed to gain passage aboard a freighter bound for Coruscant, having saved up money to travel to the capital of the Galactic Republic. When he arrived in Coruscant, he began to hear rumors of a Separatist plot beginning to develop in the Mid-to-Outer Rim of the Republic. Shortly thereafter, he came into contact with a Republic Naval Recruiter whom informed Covylus that he would be eligible to take the admissions test for the Anaxes Republic Naval War College.
In 24 BBY (aged 19), he saved enough money and took the admissions test, ultimately failing and being refused for admission to the War College. He would however go on to join the local security force on Coruscant, acting as an early interpreter having picked up several languages. He would also there begin to take lessons in flying air speeders and atmospheric transports to act as a prison transport pilot.
In 22 BBY (aged 21), he would make a successful second attempt at taking the War College Admissions Test. Later, he would see the launching of the Republic Naval Fleet bound for the First Battle of Geonosis.
In 20 BBY (aged 23), he would graduate the Naval War College at Anaxes and be given a commission as a garrison officer (Lieutenant) in command of a planetary defense forces in the 4th Sector.
In 19 BBY (aged 24), he would bear witness to the execution of the Jedi assigned to his planet, determining that Order 66 had been issued. Investigating the matter independently, he determined that the clones had little-to-no recollection regarding their feelings on the matter, but rather had carried out the order without question. He would receive the Imperial Army Rank of Captain and be assigned to an Imperial Army Garrison.
In 16 BBY (aged 27), he would receive the Imperial Army Rank of Major and become an Imperial Army Garrison Commander.
In 14 BBY (aged 29), received command of a garrison on Kuat as a Lieutenant Colonel, returned to his homeworld and oversaw security for the construction of new Imperial-class Star Destroyers.
In 10 BBY (aged 33), promoted to Colonel and be given command of several security garrisons stationed throughout the Kuat Shipyards.
In 6 BBY (aged 37), promoted to Brigadier General and be given command of the Imperial Stormtrooper contingent assigned to the Kuat Shipyards.
In 3 BBY (aged 40), received orders to carry out security for the construction of new Star Dreadnoughts.
In 2 BBY (aged 41), promoted to Major General and given command of all Imperial Stormtrooper contingents involved with security of the Corellian Shipyards.
In 0 BBY (aged 43) promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General and would be placed in command of security over the Corellian Sector.
In 2 ABY (aged 45), promoted to the rank of High General when revealing a massive money laundering and tax fraud scheme is discovered among higher ranks. Directly appointed by Dark Lord Vader and given charge of bringing order back to the Imperial officers in the Sector.
In 3 ABY (aged 46), apprehends the leaders of a large crime syndicate for suspected money laundering, embezzlement, and various other charges to include potential involvement with the Rebellion. Sentences conspirators to execution in 2 years time.
In 4 ABY (aged 47), self-promoted to the rank of Moff when Imperial authoritative breakdown occurs. Takes command of the Corellian Sector and conducts consolidation of military strength and power while also attempting to reach out to New Republic forces to open diplomatic dialogue.

Short biography: Thane Kyrell was born as an aristocrat on the planet of Jelucan. As a child he became friends with a girl by the name of Ciena Ree. After an incident by which they met Wilhuff Tarkin the pair aspired to one day become pilots. Through hard work they were able to attend the Jelucan Prepatory Academy and following that, the Royal Imperial Academy on Coruscant. They competed with one another for top marks in their classes and following graduation the pair began their careers in the Imperial Military. Thane joined an elite fighter track whereas Ciena joined a commander track. Thane was promoted to lieutenant and was assigned to the first Death Star.

After witnessing the destruction of Alderaan Thane became disillusioned with the Empire but continued on in his service. At his next posting he witnessed the severe mistreatment of slaves under the Empire and as a result he made the decision to abandon his post and flee to a neutral world. After some time he was approached by Wedge Antilles about joining the Rebel Alliance. After some consideration he agreed and became a member of Corona Squadron at Hoth. He fought in several battles and following the battle of Endor he had committed himself to defeating the last remnants of the Empire across the galaxy-despite the fact that he is still in mourning over the supposed loss of his lover and friend Ciena at the battle of Endor. After witnessing the devastation left in the wake of the war however, Thane decided to become a member of the new Galactic Senate as representative of Jelucan.

Name: Cadus Covylus
Age: 47
Species: Human
Appearance: Cadyn Covylus
Planet of origin: Kuat
Rank and title: Moff of Imperial Priority Sector 4, Kuat
Short biography: Born in 43 BBY, Covylus came from a relatively unremarkable family of shipbuilders in Kuat. He would later move to Coruscant, first joining the Security Forces present, and then later join the Anaxes War College. He would graduate with a commission and an assignment over local security forces in 4th Sector until the reorganization of the Republic into the Galactic Republic.

During the Galactic Civil War, he would be stationed on his home world, where he would consolidate power both locally and militarily until he came in control of much of the planets military and civilian affairs. In 4 ABY, news of the Emperor's death arrives on Kuat. Moff Covylus moves to consolidate power further within the 4th Sector and most directly, Kuat. Seeking political discourse with the newly founded New Republic, he begins a series of discussions aimed at stalling rebel takeover of Kuat and potential interruption of his own ongoing plans.

Political information
Political views: Centralist
Political faction and subfaction: Imperial: Status Quo
Organisational allegiance: Defense
Position within galactic government: Head of State and Defense
Political goal: Maintain the role of the 4th Sector in the development and creation of arms to be used by primary state actors.
Favourable factions: Centralists, Amidalists, Early Imperials
Unfavourable factions: Valorumists, Palpanists, Radicals
Key issue: The Economy

Additional
Relations with other players: NO CHANGE
Additional info:
Born in 43BBY, Covylus came from a relatively unremarkable family of shipbuilders in Kuat.
In 32 BBY (aged 11), news of a Trade Federation plot against the pacifist planet of Naboo became household discussion for a few months until the crisis was ultimately resolved.
In 26 BBY (aged 17), he was enrolled for the Kuat shipbuilding academies to follow in the path of his father before him, however he ultimately refused and dropped out.
In 20 BBY (aged 23), he would graduate the Naval War College at Anaxes and be given a commission as a garrison officer in command of several planetary defense forces in the 4th Sector.
He would receive the Imperial Army Rank of Major and be assigned to an Imperial Army Garrison.
In 2 BBY (aged 41), promoted to Major General and given command of all Imperial Stormtrooper contingents involved with security of the second star dreadnought.
In 0 BBY (aged 43) promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General and would be placed in command of security over the remaining dreadnoughts in construction.
In 2 BBY (aged 45), promoted to the rank of High General when revealing a massive money laundering and tax fraud scheme is discovered among higher ranks. Directly appointed by Dark Lord Vader and given charge of bringing order back to the Imperial officers in the Sector.
In 3 BBY (aged 46), apprehends Kuat of Kuat and the Kuat family for suspected money laundering, embezzlement, and various other charges to include potential involvement with the Rebellion. Sentences the family to execution in 2 years time.
In 4 BBY (aged 47), self-promoted to the rank of Moff when Imperial authoritative breakdown occurs. Takes command of 4th Imperial Priority Sector and conducts consolidation of military strength and power while also attempting to reach out to New Republic forces to open diplomatic dialogue.

When you say head of state, what do you mean by that?

And how come his political views are centralist, but he is a member of the imperial faction? The political views section is more designed to give a brief explanation of what he believes in general, rather than naming another faction.

Wouldn’t it perhaps be more reasonable for a former rebel to be an Amidalist than a full-blown imperial? Especially as a senator. The two can have very similar political views, but one is (slightly) more republican.

Personal information

Name: Tycho of Andrim

Age: Thirty-four ( 30 BBY)

Species: Kuati

Appearance:
Image

Planet of origin: Kuat

Rank and title: Senator of Kuat - Heir to Andrim Fortune

Short biography:

House Andrim were one of the original Ten who settled upon the planet Kuat, determined to create the largest shipbuilding operation in the entire galaxy. The Ten partnered with Chiewab Amalgamated Pharmaceutical Company to terraform into their paradise. The Ten had once been allies in their endeavor but soon after the terraformation of Kuat, they turned on one another for control of the planet. House Andrim, being the weakest among The Ten, allied themselves with House Kuat. The conflict was settled by the Inheritance Exemption; this allowed House Kuat to wrestle power from the other houses and raised House Andrim's status. House Andrim continued to rise as loyal corporate vassals of House Kuat; primarily focusing on the R&D of weapon systems for starcraft.

Tycho was the second-born son of Reginald Andrim; born without need. As a second-born son, Tycho was gifted more autonomy than his older brother, the heir. He was a playful and charismatic child, often putting him at odds with his diligent single-minded brother. He continually ran into trouble with his mischievous manner, often earning the ire of his father. Tycho never cared much about his formal schooling either, while not dim, he rarely had the attention span to pay attention to any lecture. The Andrim family were strong supporters of Chancellor Sheev Palpatine; helping solidify Kuat support for the Chancellor. This support would be crucial throughout the Clone Wars and through the formation of the Galactic Empire.

At the onset of the Galactic Civil War, Tycho was plagued by boredom and was at odds with his father. As an act of rebellion; Tycho enlisted in the Imperial Army, his status earned him acceptance into the Royal Imperial Academy on Coruscant. Tycho was an average student and by the time he had graduated, the war was almost at an end. His world quickly changed after his brother was killed during the rebel assault on Kuat. His father pulled the necessary strings to have his son discharged and returned to Kuat; knowing the war had become futile and not wanting to lose the heir-apparent of the family fortune.

Tycho began to heavily bond with his father after the death of his older brother. While rebellious and mischievous as a child, he became ambitious and calculated during his return on Kuat. Reginald began to solidify Tycho's future; betrothing him to the Tyla of House Praji. After the concession of the Galactic Empire and the restoration of the Republic; Kuat was reinstated as a state of the Galactic Republic. As the heir to the Andrim fortune and betrothed to a member of an important banking family, Tycho became a natural pick for senate. The Corporate Sector Authority was thrilled to hear about Tycho as a candidate and dumped millions of credits into his campaign; along with the support of House Kuat, Tycho was quickly elected to the Senate. Tycho soon found himself as a natural orator and a genius of political maneuvering and intrigue; quickly rising as the Chair of Galactic Corporate Policy League within the Senate.

Tag. I know next-to-nothing about the Star Wars universe, but this premise sounds amazing.

I meant head of government, my apologies. I take it the rebel attack on the Kuat Shipyards hasn't happened yet as we're starting in the immediate aftermath of the Battle of Endor. The main goal of Moff Covylus is to immediately retain and hold military organization and authority in the 4th Sector, mustering most available forces to Kuat to protect vital infrastructure and military projects while he opens political dialogue with the New Republic. He wants to ensure that Kuat is safe while also enabling it to continue producing weapons and ships for prospective clients.

It's a bit odd for a senator to support the Status Quo empire, since that did not have a senate, but if Goebbels can get the Nazis elected, this is probably possible too. You're accepted!

Sector 4 Military and Security Forces, alongside Planetary Defense Forces over Kuat. Only issue I see is that the currently accepted Kuati has different backstory written in for Kuat. Only just barely, but enough to maybe have a bit of a shakeup.

Edit: In case you're asking what a head of government is: The head of government is either the highest or second highest official in the executive branch of a sovereign state, a federated state, or a self-governing colony, who often presides over a cabinet, a group of ministers or secretaries who lead executive departments.

Personal information
Name: Amelia Curro
Age: 29
Species: Human (female)
Appearance: Here.
Planet of origin: Mon Cala (originally Coruscant)
Rank and title: Commodore of the New Republic Defense Fleet
Short biography:
Born to a family of well-connected diplomats on the Imperial capital, Curro was only a small child when she and her parents were sent to Mon Cala to oversee the transition of power and to represent Imperial interests in the planet's bureaucracy. As it became evident that the planet would not join the empire of its own free will, Curro's mother and father found themselves as part of the Imperial occupation force on the planet. The constant conflict on the planet, between the ardent Mon Calamari rebels and the Imperial soldiers stationed on the world, would shatter any sense of allegiance she felt to the Empire. As she entered her teenage years, she began to sympathize with the native Mon Calamari, frequently questioning her parents as to why they would remain loyal to such a destructive regime.

Worried that their daughter's sentiments may endanger not only their careers, but also their lives, Curro's parents coerced her into attending the Imperial academy on Prefsbelt IV. Despite her initial aversion to the entire subject of warfare, she quickly took to the material and emerged as a highly competent young cadet. Despite the institution's systemic Non-huMan discrimination, Curro managed to outperform many of her peers. Intrigued by Curro's talent, Imperial Naval Intelligence opened an inquiry into her, intending to vet her as a potential recruit. Though her parents had exerted considerable political influence to try and bury her youthful indiscretions, NavInt was able to uncover damning evidence of Curro's dissident past. Though it was not deemed enough to invalidate her as cadet, the Naval Intelligence liaison within the Prefsbelt academy saw it fit to recommend that Curro would be given a minor commission, if even one at all.

Unaware of Naval Intelligence's interference with her career, when her final year at the Academy rolled around, Curro was happily consuming Imperial propaganda and debating which flagship she would be stationed on with her peers. Her ideas of grandure were cut short, however, by an administrator within the Academy. The bureaucrat bluntly informed her that she would be assigned as a mechanic on a Lancer-class frigate and that she would have to leave for the assignment prior to the ceremonial graduation, an insulting reward for years of training. Being allowed a short period of leave before shipping off to her assignment, she returned to Mon Cala. During that period of leave, she reconnected with both her parents and several Mon Calamari, who previously were befriended by Curro and had since become affiliated with the Alliance to Restore the Republic. At first, they managed to convince her to not show up for her assignment. Worried her parents may betray her to the Imperials, she left her childhood home and grew closer to rebel elements on Mon Cala. After a short stint contemplating whether to sign on to a commercial vessel or to run contraband for the Hutts, her Mon Calamari contacts managed to rekindle her rebel sympathies and convinced her to join the Alliance as a naval officer.

Lacking professional officers, Curro ascended the ranks of the Rebel Alliance's navy relatively quickly. She served on a corvette during the Battle of Scarif and in many skirmishes with Imperial forces thereafter. Ultimately, Ackbar appointed Curro to be a member of his naval staff, being present on Home One during the Battle of Yavin. She was reassigned to Hoth, following the establishment of the Rebel base on the planet and was one of the few to be evacuated during the battle which would follow. After an Imperial patrol managed to intercept one of the battle-groups en route to assemble in anticipation of the upcoming Battle of Endor, Curro found herself in command of an MC80 Star Cruiser. Her familiarity with the Mon Calamari crew and workings of the ship, along with her considerable experience made her the obvious choice when the ship's previous captain was badly burned in the earlier engagement.

After an admirable performance during the Battle of Endor, Curro was given command of a detachment of ships, ordered to mop up hostile Imperials in the region while the rest of the fleet made a beeline for Coruscant. Following the founding of the New Republic, she was granted the rank of Commodore within the Republic's fleet and continues to shore up the fledgling Republic's borders against outlaws and opposition factions. Still acting under vague war-time orders, Curro has greatly broadened the scope of her operation since its inception. The long-term success of her engagements, combined with the distraction of the New Republic's military complex with other affairs has allowed her to retain such power for an unusually long time. The continuation of her mission and an increase of Imperial defections has caused her original detachment to swell into what detractors call a warlord's fleet. Though she has repeatedly vocalized her support of the Republic, hostile voices within the new Senate have requested that the Fleet recall her to Coruscant.
Political information
Political views: Curro is at heart an ambitious naval officer who aspires for power within the confines of the New Republic. She also holds many ideas held by the Centralist faction, believing that a strong Republic, and especially a strong Republican Navy, is key to prevent future Galactic wars. Though she crusades in the name of the Republic, you would be forgiven if you believed her to be a warlord, as she feels that the civilian government has no business interfering in military affairs.
Political faction and subfaction: New Republicans, Centralists
Organisational allegiance: New Republic Defense Fleet (navy)
Position within galactic government: Republican Naval Officer
Political goal: Continuing to secure, and re-conquer if necessary, the Republic's former borders
Favourable factions: Amidalists, Warlords
Unfavourable factions: Decentralists/Separatists, most Imperials
Key issue: The Military

Additional
Relations with other players: none, so far
Additional info: Curro's task force consists of:

Personal information
Name: Taul Le
Age: Middle, not yet exhibiting signs of advanced aging.
Species: Kaminoan
Appearance: Tall, Pale, Grey Eyed- her arms, neck, and legs are wrapped in a grey cloth though her long skirt (which appears white to those without ultraviolet perception) obscures such. The bulk of her garb appears grey to those without ultraviolent light though the shoulders are white have red and black stripes horizontally upon the pads that give her a broader shouldered look.
Planet of origin: Kamino
Rank and title: Ambassador
Short biography: The Kaminoans are a secretive people though she has due to her life been aware of the history of her homeworld in some fashion or another. The Empire, that was once the Republic, was a presence in her life for many years. Due to Kaminoan lifespans she was alive during the Clone Wars and to see the end of the Empire. She would say her life was quite though her appointment as ambassador does comes from experience with diplomacy towards the Empire's administration- it's occupation- of her world. She was not a rebel by any means but her work has built her resentment of galactic government. Most of the time she had been told what the Empire desired and her task was relaying that to the ministers of Kamino. This role made her in the minds of the ministers an experienced envoy capable of presenting Kamino's desire to the New Republic before that institution could take action blocking the world's departure from the Galactic state.

Political information
Political views: Kamino broke years of isolation to join the Galactic Republic in the Clone Wars. It had entered a contract to produce an army for the Republic in the years leading up to the Clone Wars and had become rather prosperous from the arrangement. However joining the Galactic Republic proved to be a mistake as it became the Empire. After a small group of dissidents attempted to train a clone army with the intention of shaking off Imperial Rule where dealt with by the Empire life on Kamino became one of punishment. Our population growth was limited to anxiety creating levels that made it impossible to leave our world without threatening our survival as a species. I do not intend for Kamino to again fall into such a predicament. I do not trust this New Republic to hold true to the values it purports to support. The Confederacy it's self claimed to be fighting for liberty from a tyranny, and with in it can be found countless examples of it's members failing to live up to those ideals. Actions express true intent while words mask them in kinder meaning. I intend to use the disbanding of the Imperial Senate, which was the Republic's Senate, as evidence that this new Senate is not the same and thus we should not be expected to partake in the government of this new, rather then restored, Republic. Should such be acknowledged I will serve as ambassador of Kamino to the New Republic in hopes of fostering an economic arrangement akin to that between Kamino and the Republic before Kamino joined the Republic.
Political faction and subfaction: Separatist
Organisational allegiance: Kaminoan Administration
Position within galactic government: Ambassador of the Kaminoan State to the New Republic, should her position regarding Kamino's exclusion from the New Republic not be recognized as legitimate by the New Republican Senate- she has been given the capacity by the administration to serve as acting senator until such position is affirmed or another individual is appointed.
Political goal: To insure a separation from the New Republic. One that comes with economic prosperity experienced by Kamino before the Empire.
Favourable factions:
  • Separatist - This is the faction she is part of and thus she can understand the desires of other worlds for the same autonomy she desires of her own.
  • Decentralists as Taul Le considers them to hold possible support for her mission on behalf of Kamino. Should the New Republic Senate not find her argument for Kamino's exclusion this faction may hold the best hope she has for averting another era of oppression from a galactic government.
  • Early Imperials - The prosperity of Kamino did continue for a time under the Early Empire and she recalls such times more favorably then those following the limitations placed upon her people and the discontinuation of the clone army.
  • Admidalist due to Kamino's strong prime minister Taul Le admires their political views but does not consider them conductive to her goal.
Unfavourable factions:
  • Palpatinists due to the punishment of her people.
  • Status Quo Imperials - The Status Quo was not favorable to her people under the Empire.
  • Centralist as Taul Le's experience with a Galactic government has been in a time of war, and under the Empire. The threat of the Empire taking total control was very real to her people and thus the concept of loosing their own government and cultural system - especially as she thinks highly of her people- is not one she favors.
  • Parliamentarians - this faction would grant power to the more populous core worlds through their policy. Kamino, having only two worlds (Kamino and a small colony) would have little say under the system proposed by them. Kamino's population was also limited by the Empire and it's own administration for the purpose of resource efficiency. It'll again be limited. These three factors make the system of population determining number of votes in the senate unappealing.
  • Valorumists - Taul Le does not believe the election of Palpatine to have been illegal. It was part of a conspiracy but a well planned one where upon the rise of Palpatine utilized the republic's laws skillfully. She does not see Palpatine's election as unlawful, nor does she believe the New Republic to be a Restored Republic that would default to a prior government if such election was ruled unlawful. She doesn't agree with them on this being the same republic of old nor that the election was illegal.
  • Warlords as they represent disorder, and imperfection.
Key issue:
  • The Jedi - Taul Le would like the New Republic and Jedi Order to be separate. Specifically to avoid the Jedi from interfering in political matters. Her own people are materialistic and thus the idea of spiritual interference does not meet her approval.
  • The Military - While the use of Clones was discontinued by the Empire, Taul Le is doubtful but would be most pleased should a contract be approved with the New Republic. A matter that would need time to bring to the senate's attention. She anticipates that the New Republic will, having used force to obtain power, use force to retain power and bring about a new order.
  • Amnesty - Taul Le believes that the punishment of her entire planet for the actions of a minority where unjust. She has seen the effects of the population restrictions imposed by the Empire and desires the Senate of the New Republic to condemn the Empire's action.

I don't think it is that odd, seeing as the planet remained loyal to the Empire till the very end and has just regained representation in the New Republic. Tycho was elected to represent not only to represent the planet of Kuat but the corporate interest of various intergalactic corporations. These corporations, including Kuat Drive Yards, faired extremely well under the Imperial regime and their focus on the military-industrial complex. Examine how Emperor expanded the Corporate Sector to over 30,000 planets; ultimately big business boomed under the empire without the restrictive conditions of the Republic. It would make sense for Tycho to represent the former Imperial regime for the sake of business autonomy.

Also, Tycho is still a WIP, so I will continually spruce up his application in the next day or so!

I'll probably end up rewriting the Moff character as a Corellian at this point to avoid stepping on Dalria's toes.

EDIT: Done.

Species: Human
Appearance:
Planet of origin: Jelucan
Rank and title: Commander (Former) / Senator (Current)

Position within galactic government: Commander in the New Republic Navy, Influential member of the Early Imperial faction

Favourable factions: Centralists, Early Imperials
Unfavourable factions: Status Quo (Imperials), Palpatinists
Key issue: Amnesty

Relations with other players: N/A
Additional info: I've altered Thane's path so that rather than continuing the fight against the Imperial Remnants, he's become a firebrand senator determined to see the Galaxy pieced back together without unnecessary punishment for former Imperials.

Adjusted his allegiances, he's an Amidalist now rather than an Early Imperial.

He seems a little young for a Senator.

Tbf, in canon Mon Mothma was 14 when she joined the Senate. And that was only "one of the youngest".

Fair, Amidala was probably 18 as well. I'm probably just biased.

Already changed my character to a Corellian Moff.
