The third season of the WGP2 is complete; thank you, one and all, for participating! If you’d like to get involved in future WGPO events or learn more about them, feel free to head over to the WGPO thread. We’d love to have you! Alternatively, feel free to browse the thread for some wonderful examples of our community’s creativity.

Greetings, prospective racer, team principal, tyre company CEO, circuit designer or all of the above and welcome to the third season of the second tier of NationStates worldwide single-seater motorsport, the WGP2!

The WGP2, or ‘WGPC Tier Two Championship’, like its older sibling in the WGPC, is a racing series run on circuits around the NationStates multiverse. Intended to act as a feeder competition featuring cars with only slightly less power than their WGPC counterparts, it is nonetheless a fully-fledged racing class with its own high concepts, high drama and high octane (or no octane) showdowns.

Where the WGP2 and the WGPC differ from their real life equivalents of Formula 1 and Formula 2 is in their regulations. F1 and F2 cars are, as the names suggest, designed to a given set of rules specifying how the cars are to be constructed and outlawing things like active suspension, electronic driver aids and sticking a giant fan on the back to improve downforce. Moreover, racing drivers in the real world tend to be human. The WGP2 does not concern itself with such limitations; beyond a cap on power, so long as you can build it, it’s vaguely safe, it looks a bit like a proper racing car and you can find someone or something to drive it, it can race. This, then, is the realm of the PsyKinetic Boost, of Imagithermal Tyre Heating, of the flock of flightless birds that were taught to race. Or, you know, of unreliable internal combustion engines. Those are cool too.

If this is your first time learning about WGP racing and your mind’s starting to burst with the possibilities of all of the above, welcome! There’s no better place and time than here or now to jump into a brilliant set of competitions within a wonderful community. If you’re a veteran of NS Sports or have even been in the WGPC or WGP2 before but fell off the radar, welcome back; it’s great to have you here. And if you’re a committed WGPer, thank you for keeping this place thriving. You can find all of the information relevant to roleplaying here below, whereas everything you need to submit a driver, a team, a tyre supplier or a circuit is just past that.

The first two WGP2 seasons can be found here and here; now it’s time to begin the next chapter in this grand tale. What are you waiting for?

The WGP2 III is currently in

The Submission Phase
The Pre-Season Phase
The Regular Season

Teams and circuits can no longer be submitted for the WGP2. Drivers and tyre suppliers, however, may still be submitted, though they will be less likely to be signed by a team.

To submit a driver, team, tyre supplier or circuit for the coming season, read the information below and fill in one of the submission forms; everything you need is down there! If there’s something you don’t quite get, feel free to ask a question either here or in the WGPO discussion thread; I or someone else will be happy to help! Alternatively, if you’d like to get a better feel for how the process works, why not have a look at either of the previous WGP2 threads? You can find them here and here.

So, if you’ve just come to this forum from NationStates’ game side of things and haven’t been on a lot of fora like this before, you might be wondering – what is this ‘roleplaying’ thing to begin with?

In its simplest terms, roleplaying is a form of collaborative storytelling. Some elements of the world in which stories will be told are defined – everyone gathered here, for instance, is going to tell a series of stories around a single-seater motorsport series – and then people create those stories, normally broken up into short instalments so that their characters can react to what other people’s characters are doing. It’s an enjoyable way of storytelling that isn’t purely limited to writing, frequently incorporating artwork and sometimes music, allows for cross-pollination of ideas in a way that’s rarely found anywhere else and ultimately creates a universe to match any cinematic creation in narrative scope.

It’s also really, really fun.
NationStates Sports is, in some sense, a roleplaying subforum in line with everything stated in the previous spoiler. We of this subforum establish worlds in the form of sporting tournaments and then write stories within those worlds. Simple enough!

The major thing that distinguishes NS Sports from most roleplaying sites, fora and subfora is scorination. At regular intervals as a tournament progresses, matches or events are simulated in a program or spreadsheet that takes into account the abilities of the competitors, the nature of the match and just a sprinkling of randomness to liven things up! These results are then posted in the thread, so that people can write stories following their course and so that their characters can react to them.

This system has two advantages. Firstly, it creates an anchor for roleplaying, tying what might be otherwise disparate narratives together with a series of concrete events and making the whole thing more cohesive. Secondly, it creates unpredictability, forcing roleplayers to adapt their writing to events that they can’t predict and breaking up overly static storytelling. Both make the roleplaying here more involving than is typical elsewhere. Good stuff!
Of course, the two elements of NS Sports described in the previous folders – roleplaying and scorination – are great in their own right but at first glance they might seem a little disconnected from one another. That’s where RP bonus – ‘roleplaying bonus’ – comes in.

In actuality, beyond the elements listed above, RP bonus is the fourth element that affects scorination. Before scorination, the person hosting the tournament (In this case, that’s me; hi!) reads over each roleplayer’s roleplaying for that period of time and assigns it a value based on how interesting and enjoyable it was. That value then has a slight effect on the performance of characters and groups created by that roleplayer. This element singlehandedly changes the dynamics of NS Sports; it encourages roleplayers to be active, creative and engaging in their writing. Moreover, it means that no character or team is ever doomed to failure; roleplay well enough and you can topple giants!

Just on the WGP2, this series uses a decaying RP bonus system. Everything put out by a roleplayer is counted towards their current RP bonus but older roleplaying is counted a little less each time another week goes by. This rewards people who roleplay consistently, while also not punishing people overly heavily if they need to do other things for a little bit. We’ve all got things going on in real life too, you know?

Four main things to bear in mind!

Firstly: please submit your submission (and, in the case of teams and circuits, wait for that submission to be accepted) before writing about the thing to which your submission pertains!

Secondly: please write about things at least vaguely relevant to the WGP2 and the people in it! This one’s more of a guideline than anything else but, you know, on-topic is generally better than off-topic!

Thirdly: please be considerate about using other people’s characters in your roleplaying. While it is generally accepted, everyone has their own understanding of what is okay and isn’t; it’s considered courteous to seek permission from the roleplayer in question and make sure you’re aware of the characters’ personalities and goals beforehand. Of course, if you’re going to do that, you might want to just bring the other person on board!

Finally, and this is a new rule introduced for the WGP2 III: please keep your writing to a maximum of 1,000 words per (race) week and your images (including composite images made up of images that would otherwise comply with this restriction) to a maximum of 250x250 pixels. Circuit introduction posts, standard post headers, standard car-in-profile and tyre-in-profile images, (not including other images of cars or tyres), standard track layout image and minor edits to the above are exempt from this rule but also won’t count towards RP bonus.
The season will be run for a period of several weeks and consist of a pre-season period lasting three weeks followed by approximately eight to ten race weekends divided into two groups, each preceded by a testing event. The race at each race weekend will last for approximately 180 kilometres. Points will be awarded according to finishing order at the race of each race event as follows: 1st – 25; 2nd – 18; 3rd – 14; 4th – 10; 5th – 8; 6th – 6; 7th – 4; 8th – 3; 9th – 2; 10th – 1. An additional point will be awarded for the race’s fastest lap. The team with the most points at the end of the season will be the Constructors’ Champion; the driver with the most points at the end of the season will be the Drivers’ Champion.

Making alterations to one’s own car, including changing tyres or bodywork and refuelling, is permitted during races. Making alterations to another’s car, including deliberately crashing into it, is prohibited. An attempt to crash into another’s car will result in a penalty for the driver; instructions from the team to do so will result in a penalty for the team.

As a Nimban-led competition, WGP2 events will be supplied with non-alcoholic beverages, notably for podium celebrations, and food produced to vegetarian and the highest animal welfare standards, preferably locally sourced. Teams with cars which produce carbon emissions while running will be required to allow the use of a remote Imagination convertor to teleport the carbon to a trackside facility. The carbon-neutral government-run logistics company, Launchpad, will be available for contract.

Three official tyre suppliers have been commissioned to produce tyres for the WGP2 III; said tyres have already been paid for so as to allow teams without existing tyre supplier relationships to enter the sport more easily. For more information, please see the ‘Current Entrants’ folder in the ‘Tyres’ section below.

Roleplaying as a driver is possibly the easiest way to get involved with the WGP2 while still being a hugely rewarding experience – indeed, possibly the most rewarding experience, depending on your approach to writing! More than anything else here, it allows you to truly craft a character over the course of a season, exploring their struggles and triumphs with a focus that can’t really be matched outside roleplaying. If you don’t have much experience yet, it makes for a fantastic introduction to the world of WGP racing.

So, how do you get to do this? Having a driver in the WGP2 is as simple as submitting a completed profile. Regardless of when you get going, there’s no need to wait around for decisions on whether anything’s been accepted; just post a full profile here and get stuck in! Of course, then you’ll want to find your driver a racing seat with a team; fortunately, every driver starts the WGP2 as a free agent and, while you’ll find that some teams already have some seats filled, there’ll be plenty hunting around for talents to spearhead their championship challenges. The best way to get their attention is to put out engaging roleplay. The more interesting your driver is, the more valuable they’ll be to a team looking for success and the more likely it is they’ll want them on their side. That will then translate to offers from teams, putting your driver in a strong position to negotiate for the drive that they truly want. Remember that you can’t switch teams (unless your team leaves and is replaced wholesale by a new team), so make sure you’re making the right decision when you’re signing on with one! One confirmation from both sides later – written in bold by convention – and you’re ready to race!

Of course, you don’t have to just roleplay as the one driver; any user can submit up to two drivers, though no more. Moreover, unless you haven’t participated in the WGPC before, you can’t put both of your drivers in your own team. Wouldn’t have any seats left over if everyone did that! Finally, please don’t enter any drivers from real life. That’d be a bit boring, now, wouldn’t it?
This is the profile template for WGP2 drivers this season; so long as you include all the necessary information, feel free to tweak it a touch or just use it as is!
Code: Select all
Name:
Name Trigram:
Nation:
Nation Trigram:
First Preference Car Number:
Second Preference Car Number:
Reliability/Aggression/Technique (total: 12, max. per stat: 5):

Bio:

Name: Your driver’s name; nothing much more to this one! Subtle symbolism relating to other aspects of their backstory welcomed.

Name Trigram: A three-letter (or number) code to represent your driver. This is almost always taken from the driver’s surname. Ryker Lane in the WGPC, for instance, uses ‘LAN’ but could also use ‘LNE’; he probably wouldn’t use ‘RKR’ or ‘RLN’. There are three main exceptions to this rule. Firstly, if a driver’s surname matches that of another driver, a single letter from their first name might be used to distinguish them; in real life, for instance, brothers Ralf and Michael Schumacher used ‘RSC’ and ‘MSC’ respectively. Secondly, if your driver has three names they can choose to take a letter from each, such as the WGPC’s Jean Mercer-Daly whose trigram is ‘JMD’. Finally, a driver who only has one name will obviously take their trigram from that.

Nation: The country (or other geopolitical unit) that your driver comes from. Shouldn’t be too difficult for you to find!

Nation Trigram: A three-letter code to represent your nation, separate from your driver’s trigram. For example, the Nexus Wardship of Former Citizens of the Nimbus System’s trigram is ‘NIM’.

First Preference Car Number: The number you’d ideally like for your driver, between 3 and 99; 1 and 2 are kept for the current WGP2 champion and their teammate. Try to make this different from other people’s first preference, if you can; if there is a clash, unless there’s another resolution made between the people involved, preference will be given to anyone who had the number in previous WGP events or, failing that, to the first to submit their profile.

Second Preference Car Number: It’s good to have a backup, just in case! Follows the same rules as the above. If worst comes to worst and neither the first or second preference number is possible, I’ll try to get in contact with you to see if we can arrange another one; if that doesn’t work, a random number will be assigned. Fingers crossed, that point will never be reached!

Reliability/Aggression/Technique (total: 12, max. per stat: 5): These numbers define how your driver does their driving. The higher their Reliability, the better they are at keeping their car on the road and running it smoothly to avoid mechanical wear and tear, reducing the likelihood that they drop out of the race or suffer severe time losses; the higher their Aggression, the better they are at holding their nerve into hard braking zones, getting the power down out of an apex and throwing their car into high-speed corners, making them more adept on circuits characterised by long straights and bends punctuated by the odd hairpin; the higher their Technique, the better they are at threading their car through complex sequences of turns and precisely adjusting the car’s momentum and positioning to suit the circumstance, allowing them to thrive on tracks dominated by series of low- and mid-speed corners. You only have twelve points to spend in all and a maximum of five for each stat (decimals are allowed), so choose wisely!

Bio: This section is for who your driver is as a person. What events brought them to the WGP2? Now that they are here, what are they like? Are they hoping to secure a seat through raw talent, honed experience, money from sponsorship deals or a combination of the above? What are their motivations and ambitions? Wax lyrical about the tragic death of their sister’s friend’s dog, do a thorough analysis of their narcissistic tendencies brought on by that mirror they were given at the age of three, retell their glory days fighting in the Long Kart Offensive of ’05 – yours is the freedom to do any and all of it! Or, you know, don’t. Brevity is the soul of wit and all that.
Name: Olivia Stone
Name Trigram: STO
Nation: The Nexus Wardship of Former Citizens of the Nimbus System
Nation Trigram: NIM
First Preference Car Number: 3
Second Preference Car Number: 4
Reliability/Aggression/Technique (total: 12, max. per stat: 5): 2/5/5

Bio: Olivia Stone is something of a prodigy. Of course, almost every successful racing driver is a prodigy to an extent but, even among them, she is exceptionally talented. Driving in the Nimban Junior Quad Bike Leagues, a ruthlessly meritocratic system of promotion and relegation that has made as many dreams as it has shattered, Olivia was given the perfect opportunity to prove that talent. It was this process that brought up Ryker Lane; even he, however, did not rise through the ranks as quickly as Olivia did, entering at eleven and quickly gaining a reputation as a raw driver capable of utter dynamism, both a brilliant attacker and a genius in defence when in her flow. She reached the highest League at fourteen and, from there, launched an uncompromising assault on its top spot. That assault worked – she claimed it three times over.

Throughout all of this, of course, she was also going through the Nimban secondary school pathways. She wasn’t an exceptional student by any means (whether that was down to her total focus on her racing or a lack of ability will perhaps never be known) but she did decide to go on to take a place at the University of the Second City, the far newer and more maverick of the two Nimban universities. This would seem like an odd choice for her but for the fact that she was more than aware of its upcoming entry to the WGPi, the Nimban WGP3 regional competition. Indeed, she and Baxen Aurora, a fellow Leagues graduate, joined the university together, the two having become somewhat close (him being the highly relative calm to her all-consuming fire), with the express purpose of joining the USC’s team as drivers; after all, it would be more of an endeavour to find success with them, in presumed contrast with the team of the established University of the First City.

This they managed. Then, with all of her dynamism, Olivia spearheaded the team into the inaugural WGPi season. It took a little time for her to get going – her fragility proved costly in the opening rounds – but, after a double victory on the banks of the Shimmerstream and a decisive win at the New Nexus Tower Run, she emerged champion and her team victorious. The next step was fairly obvious and, with the University of the Second City in support, she and Baxen currently seek seats in the WGP2. Should she be offered a choice in the matter, hers will be alongside him in a newer team or one that has fallen on hard times, not an entrenched powerhouse. That will be the greater challenge, after all.

Name: Baxen Aurora
Name Trigram: AUR
Nation: The Nexus Wardship of Former Citizens of the Nimbus System
Nation Trigram: NIM
First Preference Car Number: 85
Second Preference Car Number: 4
Reliability/Aggression/Technique (total: 12, max. per stat: 5): 3/4.5/4.5

Bio: Baxen Aurora’s path through motorsport has been an unconventional one thus far. He made his start relatively normally in the Inter-Community Junior Karting Championships, a path taken by a great many Nimbans who would go on to find motorsport success in the future, and found more than a little success there, building to a Drivers’ Championship in his fourth year of competition. The natural route from there would be to enter the Nimban Junior Karting Championships, spanning the whole nation rather than confined to a group of communities.

He did not do that.

Baxen, you see, has an unusual combination of being extremely determined and extremely calculating. He took the view that the skills that he would gain by advancing to a higher tier of karting, fundamentally a refinement of what he already had, would be less useful than moving diagonally upwards and diving into the Nimban Junior Quad Bike Leagues. On that front he was correct; he quickly became known for his versatility and unorthodox approach to racing, as well as for a depth of mechanical understanding that allowed him to push his quad bike to the bleeding edge of performance. It might surprise one, therefore, to know that he never quite managed to win a Championship for himself there.

It might surprise one less upon the realisation that Olivia Stone was competing at the same time as he was. The two quickly earned each other’s respect and became fast friends (pun unintended but welcome). It was perhaps fortuitous for both that the WGPi was being introduced just when they were both ready to jump into high-level regional motorsport; with Baxen’s strategic thinking to guide them, the two joined the University of the Second City, secured the two seats of their entry to the competition and, between him immediately settling in with the car and putting in podia and wins alike and her late charge, the two secured the top two spots in the Drivers’ Championship and the Constructors’ Championship.

Ideally, now, the two will go into WGP2 together – and, ideally, the world will see another such triumph.

Roleplaying a team is something more of a challenge than roleplaying a driver. To begin with, only a limited number of teams will be accepted into the WGP2 to begin with, so your profile will have to be written well. Unlike roleplaying a driver, your focus will be necessarily divided, maintaining a cast of characters rather than a single one. You’ll also be beholden to other roleplayers and partially responsible for their successes; while it’s possible to fill a team with your own drivers (in certain circumstances) and to create a tyre supplier of your own to fulfil that need, it’s far more likely that you will take on at least some of those from others, making good communication and understanding of their storytelling important to your roleplaying.

None of this, however, should be taken as a barrier to entry. The guidance and ideas of others has far more potential to make roleplaying thrive than it does to burden it, throwing new ideas into the mix that can make your own more three-dimensional and interesting. A wider cast of characters lets you explore more ideas to begin with, while the greater scope of a team lets you focus on writing what you want to write about. Intra-team character dynamics? Sure! The politics of international motorsport? Go for it! That insane piece of magitech you’ve been wanting to use somewhere and would make total sense in a racing context? Nothing’s stopping you! Even if it’s your first time here, if you’ve got a vision that you want to see play out and think that you’ve got what it takes, don’t hesitate.

Of course, there are some rules to follow. That a user can only submit one team and that a team can only have two drivers (for now; if we get enough drivers, that might just change) and one tyre supplier are probably the most important ones. (Incidentally, if you’d like to join up with another user to create a team, there’s nothing stopping you! Just keep in mind that the RP bonus from only one of you can apply to the team.) Moreover, as with drivers, please don’t enter any teams from real life. (Pastiche or parody are okay, though!) Finally, if you’ve been in the WGPC or WGP2 before, you aren’t allowed two of your own drivers on your own team – we want to let as many people get involved as we can! If you’re a newcomer to the WGP scene and you really want to tell a story that needs two of your own drivers, that’s okay; that said, given everything above, do consider giving someone else the chance to help you! In all likelihood, you’ll both have a great time for it.

If you’re running a team, you’re also allowed to create a picture of your team’s car from the side on that isn’t subject to the normal size restrictions, which you can put in your profile or, as many users do, reveal in a roleplay post! Don’t feel like you have to; if you do and aren’t sure how, you can get in contact with Filindostan, Lisander or Vilita and Turori, who between them have years of experience creating images of cars and their liveries and have provided the commissioned tyres for this year! Do bear in mind that any car that your team creates needs to comply with the WGP2 regulations (meagre as they are); you can find them enclosed below.
The following is not an extensive list of instructions. The WGPC reserves the right to demand changes to any proposed car.

Size and shape
WGPC cars must be similar in size and shape to RL formula one cars. The definition of 'formula one car' is a vehicle that competed in RL Formula One any time after 1970.
Maximum length of a car is 5.3m
Maximum width of a car is 2.3m
Maximum height of a car is 1.2m (not including on-board camera)
Minimum weight is a car is 600kg

Power
Inorganic
Electric engines are permitted.
Nuclear-powered engines are not permitted unless it can be proven (in safe conditions) that a catastrophic crash would not result in the circuit being unusable for the next four hundred thousand years.
Power generation is limited to 90% of the maximum power output of the most powerful WGPC car.

Air may be used to aspirate engines, but the WGPC reserves the right to ban cars that attempt to use sails to take advantage of windy circuits.

Organic
Power may be provided by animals, but only if they satisfy at least one of the following conditions:
They have been extinct for millions of years and have been turned into oil by natural processes.
The animal may not currently be on the WWF's list of endangered species.
The animal must not be harmed or stressed by the ordeal.
The animal must be on the inside of the car.

Safety
There must be at least 30 centimetres between the driver's feet and the front of the car.

The design of the car must ensure that, if it were to be put upside-down, the driver's head would not touch the floor. The inclusion of an air intake behind and above the driver, coupled with a strong fin on the bonnet of the car in front of the driver, should be enough to accomplish this. The driver's head must not be the tallest thing in the car (not including wings)

All cars must include a seat-belt. The seat-belt must be able to be easily removed by a driver within two seconds.

All cars must include a removable steering wheel. The driver should be able to remove it manually within two seconds.

No part of the car may be wider than the wheelbase.

There must be no sharp objects on the outside of the car. Wings should be at least one centimetre thick.

Bio: Originally an unsuccessful endeavour to overhaul the Nimban military’s multi-purpose armoured buggy, what was ‘Project Overdrive’ was reborn when the Ministers for Sport and Science and Technology took an interest in the WGPC and set its staff to designing an Imagination-powered car for the competition as a showcase of Nimban technology. Nexus Racing have since gone on to claim a WGPC Drivers’ Championship with Ryker Lane and typically compete at the sharp end of the sport’s field. The team use the WGP2 as a testbed for the next WGPC season’s car and a development period for new drivers; this time is no different, the UHSGV-4’s prototype their most radical design yet. With government funding at their back, organisational independence from the military secured and skilled leaders in Project Manager Timothy Guard, Head Designer Gertrude Thompson and Head of Communications and Public Relations Karl Rain, Nexus Racing emerged last WGPC season as the clear best of the rest behind the dominant Tropicorp Racing Ælund and now seek to take that and turn it into potential, for victory now and in the future.

Tyre suppliers are a new introduction to WGP racing this season, one with some interesting potential for roleplay. It would be somewhat disingenuous to offer a concrete idea of what to expect – nobody can truly offer that yet – but the potential exists for season-spanning storylines connecting multiple teams and drivers, fostering collaborative efforts beyond anything we’ve seen in WGP racing before. Alternatively, you could just set up a tyre supplier for your own team and use it as a basis for some interesting asides. Either way, the opportunity is an exciting one and one that you can help to spearhead!

Submitting and roleplaying a tyre supplier in some ways matches the processes for a driver and in others matches those for a team. Like driver submissions, a completed profile is the only requirement for creating a tyre supplier; like team submissions, you can only submit one tyre supplier. It’ll also be your job to hunt down teams and convince them to use your tyres, which can be done through offers of lucrative sponsorship deals, like a driver might offer a team, or with promises of extensive testing, advanced facilities and the best track-side support, like a team might offer a driver. Of course, unlike both, a tyre supplier can offer their tyres to as many or few teams as they would like (the three commissioned suppliers excepted) – though abandoning deals mid-season won’t be allowed. Finally, as always, real tyre manufacturers and brands aren’t allowed. Get creative – we’ll all be looking forward to seeing the first ever results!
This is the profile template for WGP2 tyre suppliers this season; so long as you include all the necessary information, feel free to tweak it a touch or just use it as is!

Name: The name of your tyre supplier. Not much more to say!

Nation: The country (or other geopolitical unit) that your tyre supplier is based in. You went through the nation creation process; you know what you’re doing here!

Nation Trigram: A three-letter code to represent your nation. Esmerel’s, for instance, is ‘ESM’.

Reliability/Traction (total: 0, max. per stat: 1, min. per stat: -1): These numbers determine how your tyre manufacturer’s tyres perform. The higher their Reliability, the less prone they are to punctures, delamination and spontaneous disintegration, meaning they’ll be less likely to cost a race; the higher their Traction, the better they’ll be at gripping the ground, meaning that they’ll be better at braking, acceleration and maintaining speed through corners. Improving one means the inverse stat in the other, so consider what you think teams will want out of your tyres. Please note that while Traction affects both a car’s overall ‘A’ and ‘T’ stats, it does so with only half of the effect of a normal point in either.

Bio: This section lets you describe what your tyre supplier actually is. Is it a small, specialist company focussing on performance, part of a vast international conglomerate or a few people who got together in a garage and started making tyres? Who are its key individuals? Why do they want to supply tyres to WGP2 teams? Do they have any specific teams in mind for marketing their tyres? Answer any of these and anything else!

Reliability/Traction (total: 0, max. per stat: 1, min. per stat: -1): -1/1

Bio: Nexus Racing have few commercial relationships, being government-funded, but those that they do have are tight-knit. In Motion are no exception. The First City start-up was founded by spousal team Celia and Grace Speck, former pupils of the Kelthari materials scientist Vertilan Nas, after they realised the potential that molecular rearrangement by Imagination convertor had for synthetic rubbers, noted the gap in the market for high quality domestic tyre production and jumped at the opportunity. Since then, their team has since grown to around a dozen people (including one Petra Nikolic, formerly of Tigar Tyres) and profoundly bucked the trend of stiff, unyielding Nimban tyres.

All of this made In Motion ideal partners for Nexus Racing; their agility and innovation served as a natural counterpart to Esmerelian giant Brutus Tyres’ traditional knowledge and, with Imagikinetic convertors provided by the racing team, the two companies have worked together to produce tyres for Nexus Racing since WGPC 16. That partnership is now ending, Brutus Tyres withdrawing from international motorsport with the failure of the Esmerelian team Obey Sport in the WGPC, but from it In Motion have gained valuable experience. Now free from any constraints and with a closer relationship with their host team than ever, the coming WGP2 season is a decisive moment for the Nimban tyre makers. Whether they will fall or fly remains to be seen.

The following are the tyres commissioned for the WGP2 III season. A supply deal for any of these tyres is freely available to any team at no cost.

Roleplaying a circuit probably offers you the most freedom of any roleplaying opportunity available in the WGP2. With the one caveat that you have to get your circuit accepted first – only nine to eleven will be selected for the season (two for testing and the remainder for races, beyond the finale at Crossbay Circuit) and a user only submit one circuit – you’ll have a week in the season which is yours to own and celebrate, to do whatever you’d like with! If running a team is the definitive avenue to fully showcase your narrative talents in the WGP2, submitting a circuit is perhaps the definitive avenue to show off all aspects of your roleplaying skill.

This, of course, does demand some effort. To begin with, for perhaps obvious reasons, a circuit submission requires an image of the circuit being submitted, which demands some image editing skills. Don’t be too intimidated by this! WGP circuit images come in a variety of styles, ranging from ‘could be a circuit map for an actual circuit’s promotional material’ to ‘a series of lines drawn in Paint with some text adjacent to them’; whatever your level of skill, you’ll fit in just fine! Bear in mind that real circuits and ovals are prohibited and that these rules are the most strictly kept compared to the similar requirements for other submission types. Beyond that, if you would like some help, have a chat with Nekoni, who’s something of a circuit design specialist in the community! They’ll be able to help you out. Otherwise, go for it!

Of course, once you’ve got your circuit in, you’ll need to run a race (or testing) there! Circuit creators will have the opportunity to put up a post in their race week to introduce their circuit, which won’t contribute to the thousand-word limit or to RP bonus, so that everyone else knows what’s on offer. As for what is on offer? Previous seasons have seen events from lecture series to log-chopping contests, all of which has been roleplayed out to much enjoyment! In reality, the only limit is your imagination; let it be unbound!

Bio:

Name: The name of the circuit, not the event in the season. ‘_ring’ and ‘_ Circuit’ are favourites, though feel free to not be limited by them!

Location (settlement/geographical feature): Where the circuit is in your nation. Try thinking about where a circuit would be built or set up and where the most interesting places to host a race would be and then marry the two!

Country: The country in which the circuit is found. Real challenging, this one, I know!

Nation Trigram: A three-letter code to represent your nation. For instance, Aboveland’s trigram is ‘ABL’.

Name of Event: The name of the event in the season, not the circuit itself. WGP2 events fall into a somewhat confused place in terms of naming; the ‘Grand Prix’, or ‘grand prize’, of a nation is the most prestigious racing event – the WGPC event (theoretical or otherwise) – in that nation, meaning that WGP2 events can’t use this formula. Users have settled upon three main solutions to this problem: constructing a new French term for the event, such as ‘Deuxième Prix’ (‘second prize’) or ‘Petit Prix’ (‘little prize’); name the event the Grand Prix of a subset of a nation, such as the ‘Grand Prix de Lisander East’ or ‘Grand Prix de Alix’ (a region in Lisander); or simply describing it as it definitely is, the ‘WGP2 Race of’ or ‘WGP2 Round of’ a place. Any of these will do, as will anything else that you can think of!

Aggressiveness/Technical Difficulty (total: 10): These numbers determine the challenges that your circuit poses to drivers. Higher Aggressiveness indicates a wider circuit with lots of high-speed sections and heavy braking zones, testing a driver’s daring and determination; higher Technical Difficulty indicates a narrower circuit featuring complex sequences of corners that demand precision to navigate quickly.

Percentage Chance of Rain (max: 18%): This percentage determines the chance that rain will appear over your circuit, as well as lighter showers and simple cloud. Consider the prevailing wind direction around your circuit in relation to the nearest rivers, lakes and seas and your nation’s climate when coming up with this for a more realistic figure!

Overtaking Difficulty (1-5): This number reflects how difficult passing is at your circuit; ‘1’ is easiest, while ‘5’ is hardest. Things like its general speed and the track’s average width will have a significant impact, as will the presence of runoff areas that allow cars a little leeway and encourage drivers to attempt more marginal attacks. Also try taking into account the structure of corners; slow corners at the end of long straights are often golden opportunities for overtaking, while high-speed corners, in which drivers rely on downforce to keep them on the track, can force cars apart as the disturbed air of those in front forces those behind to slow down.

Margin for Error (1-5): This number reflects how likely a car is to crash at your circuit if its driver makes a mistake; ‘1’ is least likely, while ‘5’ is most likely. This is broadly determined by the circuit’s width and whether its corners have tarmac or metal barriers on the edge. Think Paul Ricard on the one hand, Monaco on the other.

Qualifying Type (Traditional, Two-Tier, Elimination, One-Shot): The format that will be used for the qualifying session that determines the starting grid of the race itself. ‘Traditional’ uses a single session and orders the cars on the grid according to the fastest lap that each achieves; ‘Two-Tier’ runs two sessions, ordering the drivers up to the fastest ten according to their fastest laps in the first session and then those ten according to their fastest laps in the second session; ‘Elimination’ uses a similar process but has four sessions rather than two, eliminating and ordering the slowest group in each; and ‘One-Shot’ differs from all of them by ordering the cars from fastest to slowest based on only a single lap each.

(Projected) Lap Record (m:ss.xxx): This time reflects how quickly a WGPC car has gone around your course in the past. If your circuit has never been driven by a WGPC car before, you can substitute it for a prediction of how quickly it would do so!

Lap Length (km): How long the circuit is. This figure is usually somewhere between 3 and 7 kilometres.

Bio: This section lets you describe your circuit in more detail. When and why was it built? Why was it built where it was? Why do its owners want to host the WGP2? Are there any groups particularly associated with the circuit or the hosting plans there, through sponsorship or other affiliations? What about drivers – does anyone have a particular history with practicing or racing at the circuit? Is there anything in particular planned for the WGP2’s arrival? And, of course, how does it drive? Feel free to answer any or all of these questions!

Name: Crossbay Circuit
Location (settlement/geographical feature): Nimbus Bay
Country: The Nexus Wardship of Former Citizens of the Nimbus System
Nation Trigram: NIM
Name of Event: Nimban Deuxième Prix

Aggressiveness/Technical Difficulty (total: 10): 6.3 / 3.7
Percentage Chance of Rain (max: 18%): 16%
Overtaking Difficulty (1-5): 1.2
Margin for Error (1-5): 3.9

Qualifying Type (Traditional, Two-Tier, One-Shot, Elimination): Elimination
Lap Record (m:ss.xxx): 1:26.018 (Ryker Lane, Nexus Racing UHSGV-1)
Lap Length (km): 4.83

Bio: With the success of Nexus Racing apparent from the very beginning of the WGPC 15 season after Marika Pedanovic won the first race and champion-to-be Ryker Lane achieved fourth in the second along with a clear public interest from high native viewing figures, Jacob Gibbons, Nimban Minister for Sport, saw immediately an opportunity for the Nexus Wardship of Former Citizens of the Nimbus System to carve out a place for itself in worldwide motor racing. Thus, Crossbay Circuit, the first purpose-built racetrack in the Wardship and the world’s first track with significant underground and water-crossing sections, was born.

The people of the Nimban origin universe have a long and proud tradition of constructing race circuits in areas of astounding natural beauty; Crossbay Circuit continues this tradition, running across, through and below the stark dolomite rock cliffs of Nimbus Bay and, in parts, above its sparkling waters. The circuit itself was pulled together from parts of three of the Nimban origin universe’s most famous tracks, Vertigo Loop Racetrack, Keelhaul Canyon Raceway and Dragonmaw Chasm Raceway. It has so far played host to four races, two in the WGPC and two in the WGP2; the upcoming WGP2 III finale will be its fifth. The course’s lap record remains that set by Ryker Lane on his ceremonial lap to open the circuit in his Drivers’ Championship-winning UHSGV-1.

Crossbay Circuit is also run through with the latest advances in Nimban technology. Roman-style concrete has been used for its hydraulic properties and decreased environmental footprint to construct the bridges for the over-water sections of the track. In terms of Imagitech, a large Imagikinetic force field, permeable to nitrogen, oxygen and hydrogen but impermeable to all else, overtops the course and divides spectators from the cars, both keeping pollutants sealed in where they are scrubbed from the air by industrial-scale machinery underneath the track and serving as nigh-on unbreakable protection for fans from rogue car parts; a more recent innovation has been the addition of Imagikinetic convertors to remove debris or damaged cars from the track. More traditional belt-and-tyre barriers line the bottom of the circuit or, where they exist, its runoff areas.

A lap of the track begins in Sector 1 with a short run down the end of the start/finish straight to Turn 1, a long and smooth left-hander that is deceptively tight in the middle of the turn, as well as descending by a few metres over its course. From Turn 1 a tiny straight leads into the gentle Turn 2 before the car enters the first of the two tunnels on the course. This downward plunge, where the track meets the pit exit (redesigned for this WGP2 season to make pitting less of a delay compared to a normal lap and thereby encourage more varied and daring strategies), transitions rapidly into an underground stadium section featuring the moderately tight Turn 3 and the hairpin of Turn 4, both taken as the track plunges downwards. It then passes under itself before shooting down and out of the cliffs into the water-crossing Sector 2.

Immediately drivers are forced to deal with the esses of Turns 5, 6 and 7. While 5 does demand something of a decrease in speed, the latter two can be taken surprisingly quickly; the measure of a good driver here will be how much momentum they can retain into the straight leading up to the nudge that is Turn 8 and the sweeping, ever so slightly banked Turn 9. After Turn 9 the chicane of Turns 10 and 11 provides another momentum-holding test into Turn 12, which technically begins immediately after Turn 11 but really comprises the mid-speed corner at the very end of the sector.

Sector 3 is by far the fastest of the sectors. Drivers dart into the cliff tunnel after 12 to face a long, climbing straight broken only by Turn 13, a left-hander whose core difficulty is its obstruction of a driver’s vision leading up to Turn 14, a slightly tighter but still fast right-hand turn at the tunnel’s exit made far trickier by the sudden reduction in downforce that comes with the levelling gradient. A straight section leads to Turn 15, probably the sector’s slowest part; from there another small straight and the chicane of 16 and 17 brings drivers back to the far end of the start/finish straight and, through that, the finish line.

We are the Nexus Wardship of Former Citizens of the Nimbus System, not just a collection of people; please shorten to the pre-title or use the full name!

Emmet: You might see a mess -
Lord Business: Exactly: a bunch of weird, dorky stuff that ruined my perfectly good stuff!
Emmet: Okay. What I see are people, inspired by each other and by you - people taking what you made and making something new out of it.

The central Nimban cultural ideal summed up in an exchange from The Lego Movie.

Name: Raleigh Hill Circuit
Location (settlement/geographical feature): Park City, Rainier Province
Country: Esmerel
Name of Event: The Esmerelian Challenger's Prize At Raleigh Hill, Presented by Absomax (The Esmerelian Challenger's Prize alone will do.)

Aggressiveness/Technical Difficulty (total: 10): 5.5A/4.5T
Percentage Chance of Rain (max: 18%): 1%
Overtaking Difficulty (1-5): 3
Margin for Error (1-5): 3.5

Projected Lap Record (m:ss.xxx): 1:23.100 (adjusted for WGP2)
Lap Length (km): 5.071km

Bio: Located about 30 minutes from Strovoz International Airport in the capital city of Lapiz Point, the Raleigh Hill Circuit was the technical answer to the thunderdome of the Forest Cross Raceway back when the circuit was first built in 1986. Situated on top of a small complex of hills overlooking the Atlantic Ocean less than three kilometers to the west and south, the circuit originally incorporated local public roads circling around the nearby Deschamps Observatory, seeing as there was such little space to build the circuit on. Nowadays the old roads have been paved over with racing surface, though they remain open to the public on non-event days (and are still commonly used).

The Raceway in the southwest part of the complex did not exist until around 2002, when overall terraforming ability allowed enough land to be moved to create a large enough hill to put a 1.6km oval on it. The oval section, left out of the Tour layout to be used for the event, near perfectly emulates the feel and look of the old North Carolina Motor Speedway in Rockingham, North Carolina, USA, reminding many a racing fan of the good old days when that circuit was still used by popular racing series we don't speak of here.

In context of the event itself, it will actually be Esmerel's only contribution to this season of WGP2; with the retirement of Rebecca Darlington from the Nexus program back to the EGTC, and the liquidation of all of Obey's assets following their humiliation in WGPC17, no driver or team flying the Esmerelian flag will actually partake in the series this season. Many considered Rachael Lyndroem and team Cygnus Atlantic to potentially take up the torch after their drivers' and teams' championship victories in WGP3 Atlantic Division, but the announcement quickly came stating that they were "mot quite ready to move up."

The Challenger's Prize hopes to serve as a test run for a potential Grand Prix hosting for the next WGPC season; should it make it, the full Super Circuit layout including the oval would be run. Even without the oval, however, the track is both a beauty and a devil to drive, with drivers being able to take in the sights of the hills and the ocean nearby and yet hopefully not losing focus of the race at hand. The entire track is heavily guarded to prevent any vehicles from flying beyond the barriers and down a 50m+ cliff, likely leading to the death or at least grievous injury of the involved driver.

Preticket sales have already gone up by a few ten thousand since the announcement of the potential event, and having Esmerel play host to an internationally hosted formula race for the first time since 2018 has excited many. Just about all are hoping, with good reason, for this one to be a classic worth remembering.

*Note that the laps listed on the promo material assume a 305km race, the actual race length is free to come down to the discretion of the series organizers and may not reflect what is displayed.

It's been a good bit of time since 31-year old Drake Stevenson competed in a top-shelf form of motorsport. At the start of last year, he stunned the world when he announced he was leaving the HASCAR Challenge Cup stock car racing series after winning his fourth championship in that series. Even more stunning, Drake announced he would be attempting to compete in the World Grand Prix Championship, the multiverse's top-level open-wheel single seater series. Drake hadn't competed in single-seaters at all prior to the move, but he adapted quite well.

Owing largely to his tenacity and his desire to learn every little nook and cranny of the circuits he competed at, Drake wound up scratching and clawing his way to a seat at Eelandii VTGP, a team owned by legendary WGPC driver iBen Toralmintii. His first three races weren't worth writing home about, but in his fourth race in Vilita, Drake came alive, dominating the race before getting passed by Toralmintii in the late stages of the race.

After that season came to an end, Drake took a position of driver consultant for Team Blue, his old HASCAR team, which at this point, had made the jump to the NSSCRA. Throughout the season, Drake remarked he would be returning to the World Grand Prix Championship, even going so far to allude he had signed a deal with a team. He didn't say what team, but he's looking to come back, complete with his legal pad and pen to take notes the Friday before the race around every corner, every undulation, every ripple strip and every spot of loose pavement. With more experience under his belt, he should be extremely exciting to watch.

Bio:
The Surrey International Speedway, located just south of one of Hapilopper's largest cities, was at one point a two-mile oval, known for its unusual quirks. The corners, banked at 25 degrees, weren't exactly round. One moment a driver would be turning, before finding themselves on a very short straightaway all of a sudden. It was one of the toughest tracks in Hapiloppian motorsport, and one of the most popular venues among fans. But two short tracks in the Surrey area - a 4/10ths of a mile track and a 5/8ths of a mile track wound up taking away the superspeedway's attention, and SIS was closed in 2004.

For years, the track remained vacant, becoming a rotting shell of itself, until investors, with an eye of bringing the World Grand Prix Championship to Hapilopper, converted the infield road course section of the track into a permanent road circuit. The 25-degree banking was flattened. The 18-degree banking on the tri-oval was flattened as well, and in 2019, the ultra-modern next-generation Surrey International Speedway opened to the public. Its first race was the Hapilopper Championship Series' Hydroceramic Parts Grand Prix of Surrey, and the track became an instant hit.

Quite a few remnants of the old speedway remain, including the grandstands, the straightaways and a portion of what is now called "HASCAR 1," a short straightaway that, at one point, was banked 25 degrees. But we'll get to that portion of the track in a bit.

Your lap starts flying just past the Tri-Oval, and before you know it, it's hard on the brakes to Hard First, a corner that some of the top drivers will try to take at third gear. A nice straight, with a tiny bit of a kink, follows, where the fastest cars could reach 160 miles per hour before hitting Short Right, a third gear right-hand corner. A short straight follows before you slow to Somewhat A Hairpin, a second gear corner.

After SAH, drivers will go through the gears, tapping the brakes for an unnamed left hand corner, and then getting back on the gas for The Kink, a flat-out left-hander. Before they know it, drivers will be hard on the brakes - possibly trying to get by the car in front of them - for Opening Right, a corner named for the increasing radius of the corner. A brief left-hand second-gear corner follows, and then it's time to get back on the oval for HASCAR 1, a short straight, which is quickly followed by a kink, then a right-left series of corners, the HASCAR 2 Complex.

After exiting the HASCAR 2 complex, drivers are hard on the gas and will hit speeds near 175 miles per hour before braking for Chicken Bone Alley, which used to be part of a bus-stop chicane that used to lead drivers back on the oval. Some of the more ambitious drivers in the series will take advantage of this portion of the circuit to pull a cheeky overtaking move. Now, it's a short left-right series of corners, followed by a short straight before a left-hander known as HASCAR 3 - named as such for the former third turn being located here.

A short straight follows before drivers will get off the gas for the first of the HASCAR 4 esses, and then on the brakes for the second. The final corner, a sweeping left hand, shortly follows after, and it's on the gas for the longest flat-out portion of the entire race track, the tri-oval complex, where the top drivers will hit 190 miles hour plus on the way to Hard First, which could prove to be quite the passing spot as the World Grand Prix Championship series competes here at SIS.

Bio: As a young colt-pegasus, Carmichael had always been interested in cars. Even though cars were never the form of transportation in Strayquestria, he still showed great interest in it, as it was the main way to go around in the Wolflands.
Another factor which led him to choose the race driver career was his father, who himself was a racecar driver. Though not internationally prominent, he was a star in Strayquestria racing history, winning various single-seater trophies, while competing in some rallying competitions. Carmichael was born in Cloudsdale, but moved to Canterlot, before making his permanent residence in Ponyville recently. Carmichael is more commonly known as Carmi.
Quick Overview of career:
Assuming calendar used is Gregorian
2006-9: Took on go-Karting, while entering some competitions during the 2008-09 period.
2009: Won first place for the Canterlot Young Drivers Trophy, Division B.
2010/11: Won second and first place for above competition(Division A) respectively.
2011: Joined the Canterlot Racing Academy(not an actual racing team's academy) . Moved to Canterlot for convenience reasons.
2012: Won first place in a go-karting tournament hosted by Canterlot Racing Team. Got a scholarship into the team's youth academy.
2013-2016: Won several single-seater junior competitions
2016: Entered a junior racing season, where he entered 3rd place overall.
2017: He became the team's reserve driver in the WGP3 Strayquestria and the Wolflands. Made his first appearance during testing, landed 12th out of 20.
2018: Due to his consistent performance, they decided to make Carmichael their 2nd driver. Gained 51 points out of 20 races(format close to RL F1, with a few tweaks). He landed 11th place out of 20.
2019: Stayed as 2nd driver, managed to get 53 points, 2 more that last season. He landed 9th place.
2020: He is currently looking for a seat in WGP2, especially Adelphia-VMR. If not he'll go back to compete in the WGP3.

Bio: Adelphia-VMR WGPC Team had its roots back to 1965, where a young Itallion-Strayquestri unicorn-mechanic, Passion Adelphia, entered and won his first hillclimbing competition. He had learnt about mechanics and engineering from his father, a mechanic himself. After tinkering with some tools he created a new engine. Curious, he decided to try it out. Apparently the engine was quite smooth compared to others he had made earlier. After making improvements to. it, he introduced the Adelphi V-100.
Not too long later he was making his name in the village with his engine. There was a hillclimbing competition in the neighboring city. Reluctant to enter, he only signed up because of his parents' constant begging.
For that race, he landed first.
Later on in his life, he would found a car company which used his engines as a main. He also further developed his engines, making better ones.
Adelphi entered his first racing team in the WGP3 Strayquestria and the Wolflands,
more than 30 years after the founding of the car company. It was consistent in its results, often finishing in the top 3 constructors. However, it didn't use Adelphi engines, loaning engines from other teams. It did supply engines for other reams tho(similar to Mercedes in RL F1).
For this WGP2 season they are collaborating wihh Vannish Motor Racing to supply the engines.

Nation Trigram: ABL
First Preference Car Number: 17
Second Preference Car Number: 18
Reliability/Aggression/Technique (total: 12, max. per stat: 5): 2.8/4.5/4.7

Bio: Freshly come-of-age Abovian starchild Janne Laukkanen returns to the WGP2 scene for a second shot at success in the World Grand Prix Organization's second tier of competition. Harkening from the icy town of Kylmajärvi in Aboveland's southwest Järvi maakunta, Laukkanen proved his worth in the lesser categories of western Aboveland's prolific ice racing championships, beating more seasoned competitors in inferior machinery at the ripe age of 15. His raw talent sparked interest from the Tropicorp Ælund Racing (then Project AGP) young drivers' academy, which brought him to the now defunct Pine Hill Circuit in Pæhkinoot to build his skills around sealed circuits in formula machinery.

Funding came and went, however, and while he was forced to drop out of the academy just a year later, a surprise financial backing from two-time World Champion Terho Talvela, and the promise of a careful mentoring regimen, landed Laukkanen a surprise drive in the second season of WGP2 for Nexus Racing. His success, however, was as quick to go as it came, and despite winning the opening round of the championship, a series of driving mistakes throughout the season left him trailing the championship leaders to finish third overall on his first go. During the off-season, now well established under the Nimbans' supervision, Laukkanen entered the domestic WGP3 championship with the peppy, winging-it attitude Garage Gunners team, emphasizing experience over speed to continue adapting to the novel Imagination propulsion systems employed by Nexus Racing. Despite a pole position in the season ending race and a single podium, Laukkanen regularly dropped down the order during races, and failed to score big points when it mattered most (and when his teammate Henry Dinkins had particularly successful runs of his own), ending the season a solidly forgettable midfield runner.

For the third run of WGP2, Laukkanen expects to be announced as one of Nexus Racing's main challengers alongisde WGP3 champion Olivia Stone. Despite his recent setbacks, his proven pace, hard-working attitude and new-gained technical prowess are bound to position the young Talvela successor-in-the-making as a title contender for this year's championship.

Bio: Even if she isn't that old, she's already been through hell. Many young people would have given up their careers if they had gone through what she went through. Lourdina Westgrens, however, doesn't give much importance to her past, which isn't quite the easiest one. A veteran of only 20 years, she arrived in WGP2 season 1 at the age of 17. And soon she was at WGPC, but not at her best. She was a grid-filler driving a car much above her skills and was indirectly linked to a government corruption scandal that splashed on the team. After a sabbatical season to take care of his mental health and to recover from the early stages of mental burnout, Westgrens was introduced as the first driver of the new Bitten Heroes Academy and went to Formula Hodori, where she had part of the responsibility for taking the team to fourth place in the overall standings.

Despite the irregular results, for the last three seasons participated, Lourdina has been showing continuous evolution. Under the care of Juliano Lemos and Lisander Autosports Board, the aggressive girl has become a much more balanced driver, and now she ruins fewer cars (after all she doesn't have her father to pay for them anymore). Now back in WGP2, Lourdina Westgrens returns with the entire Bitten Heroes Academy structure working on her behalf. She is testing the KS-03 from the early stages and is already fully used to the thermal panel energy recovery system, having achieved near-perfect response time for power boost activation.

Bio: Bitten Heroes Driver Academy returns for one more season, this time properly named. The team that raced under the moniker of "Superia Juniors" in last WGP2 due to some legal questions still pending from the Westgrens Scandal, now is officially a part of Bitten Heroes, as is Heroes Academy Hodori.

The team is the Petri dish of Bitten Heroes, where all innovations are tested first. This was the case with the thermopanels, with the safety halo and now with the evolution of thermopanels, the conductive EBGP coating. Simplifying for the average reader, it is a semi-transparent cover over the car's paint, with sensors that capture the heat (either from the environment or from the car itself). An internal unit converts this heat into a power boost that can be used with a driver's command. Currently, the sensor is on the driver's steering wheel and is activated by a button or swipe. However, there are plans to transfer it to another point in the car to be activated by an action less prone to failure or accidental activation.

Lourdina Westgrens, Athan Lille and Mor Holstein are currently Heroes Academy Drivers. The plan was to have the two first in the WGP2 for this season, but WGP2 rules restricted the team from signing two drivers from the same nation. Miss Westgrens, more experienced, is already confirmed as #1 Team Driver, while is not yet decided whether Lisander will have another driver in the competition, be it Athan Lille or someone outside the Bitten Heroes program.

More TBA.

Name: Abdoulaye Goita (GOITA Abdoulaye on official documents)
Name Trigram: GTA
Nation: Reçueçn
Nation Trigram: RCN
First Preference Car Number: If possible, Goita, who doesn't have a strong preference or a traditional number, would like to take the number one higher than his teammate's.
Second Preference Car Number: ^I realize for ooc reasons my request above might not be possible, or that number might be taken, so 60 can work as a backup.
Reliability/Aggression/Technique (total: 12, max. per stat: 5): 2/5/5
Bio: Goita, a young Malian-born Reçuecian national, is atypical of those from this nation. As an immigrant and poc, he is already representative of only a tiny minority of Reçuecians, but it is his love of motorsport that really sets him apart in this country of soccer, hockey, cycling, tennis, and alpine sport fans. Reçueçn has no major racing circuits, grand prix, or competition, even at the WGP3 level (and stock car racing is even further from its inhabitants' minds). So it is practically a miracle that anyone from here could make a successful career in racing, let alone someone in Abdoulaye's situation. Perhaps, then, his failure to do so can be excused. Most of his experience comes from karting at an amateur level. Towards the end of the WGPC 17 season, Goita began to look for a drive in the WGPC (granted it wasn't the best time to be looking for a team). He had a test drive with Eelandii VTGP, but performed miserably and failed to earn any further place on that or any WGPC team. After his dedicated, but ultimately abortive attempt, Abdoulaye decided he would set his sights on WGP2 for the present instead (which in Reçueçn this year is happening after WGPC 17--in fact, the IC schedule is the same as the IRL schedule where possible). He is hopeful that with his determination, better timing, and the lower stakes of the second tier of WGP competition, he will be able to find a contract, prove himself, and earn a spot in WGPC 18.

As a driver, Abdoulaye (or 'Abs,' as his friends call him,) is exactly the opposite of risk-averse, but makes up in technique and daring what he lacks in reliability and experience. Yet his personality is a bit more on the phlegmatic, reserved side--until a straw breaks the camel's back. Goita is hard-working and persevering, and will finish any task he is set to, although when not behind the wheel he is liable to take his time. His two priorities are racing and his family (not in that order).

Edited because I forgot to put in his preferred car number. (And again for typos.)

Name: Highland Tire
Nation: The Sherpa Empire
Nation Trigram: SHW
Reliability/Traction (total: 0, max. per stat: 1, min. per stat: -1): R +0.5/T -0.5

Bio: Highland Tire is the Sherpa Empire's largest tire manufacturer and a leading supplier for the nation's motorsports teams. Although Highland is very successful domestically, the brand is not as well known internationally. The company is looking to expand its participation in international motorsports and raise the profile of their brand in international markets.

Highland is the tire supplier for Sherpa Imperial Motorsports teams from AutoModi and Wednesday Racing, and has been supplying tires to Sherpa NSSCRA teams for the past three seasons. Working with AutoModi and Wednesday Racing has given Highland the opportunity to develop quality tires for WGP-style racing, and working with NSSCRA teams has given the company experience with international logisitcs.

The company's headquarters are in Bomdila, Arunachal Pradesh. WGP2 teams interested in using Highland tires should contact sales rep Sandeep Jayapal.

Margin for Error (1-5): 3
Qualifying Type (Traditional, Two-Tier, One-Shot, Elimination): One-Shot
Lap Record (m:ss.xxx): 1:15.511

Bio: [The] Fjellutfordring is the first in a series of Abovian government sponsored racetrack projects carried out in the wake of Terho Talvela and home team Tropicorp Ælund's second World Grand Prix championship titles in season 17 of the series. Built in the remote yet populous city of Avsidesliggendevuoret, home to forgotten Guayabalense outfit Telaris Racing's Axel Novikov, the Fjellutfordring marks the important return of circuit racing to Aboveland's core provinces and nearer Talvela's hometown of Tetrislop, a few hundred kilometers to the west.

Construction of the Fjellutfordring was finalized in late 2019, with the first trial runs of the circuit executed by none other than the reigning world champion in his title grasping AGP 002 machine. Unlike Lintulahti's circuit from the predomiantly Finno-Ugric eastern provinces, historically associated with a strong rally culture, the new circuit in Avsidesliggendevuoret was designed independently from the prying eyes of the Ælund staff, and does not serve as headquarters and primary testing track for the Abovian WGPC outfit (largely owing to the little spare space left by its facilities). It has been announced that the Abovian government, should the WGP2 event at the circuit prove successful, plans to rotate the venue for the Abovian GP between Lintulahti and Fjellutfordring.

The circuit itself is rather simple, boasting just 11 turns and one alternate layout reserved for exceptional circumstances, though what it lacks in mind-bending complexity it makes up for in intensity. Its relatively short length makes it an easy circuit to push hard on, yet one where an extra gram of adrenaline could spell an overconfidence-spurred disaster.

Among the things drivers should be weary of:

- Turns 1, 5 and 10's tricky braking points have been designed, with circuit width in mind, to allow for overtaking opportunities.

- Elevation doesn't drastically change as in Lintulahti, but turns 3-4 and 7-10 send the drivers skittering over uneven, at parts narrow, bits of road, and turns 4-7 descend at the apex of 6 before climbing to level off at turn 7 before the final run towards the finish.

- Though the first corner boasts a tarmac runoff zone, drivers must be careful with the walls lining the track outside turns 3, 10 and the pit straight, while also keeping their cars within the lines of the road and far away from the slippery grass lining turn 8 and the gravel outside 9. Should the drivers understeer onto the track limits (or turn in too early!) they might find themselves going for a spin.

Bio:

Designed in 2007 for the Willityan Open Wheel Cup (WOWC, this circuit is famed for its beautiful seaside location and high speed turns, it has become the most popular Willityan race track. Luxutun Motorsport, the current WOWC Constructer Champions, have their headquarters beside the track. The circuit is sponsored by Willitya Air

The circuit is located in Diamond Bay, a beautiful and touristy borough 12km or a 17 minute drive away from downtown Luxutun. Luxutun is a vibrant and busy city with a population of just over 50 Million people, the 2nd in Willitya, and is Willitya’s largest tourism hub, with 29 Million visitors per year.

The Circuit begins with a sweeping left-hander where the pit lane exit is located followed by a quick straight. A large high-speed ess turns into Sector 2 and a large, narrow straight leads the driver into the long turn 5. Corner 6 precedes a wide straight before turn 7. A wide, long straight turns into turns 8 & 9 before the driver rushes into turn 10. A quick dart up the hillside turns to turn 11 where the driver increases elevation onto the high-speed bridge above Emerald Cove where Sector 3 begins. A downward plunge through turn 12 & 13 taken at high speeds precedes turn 14 and the pit lane entrance before the final turn leads onto the start/finish straight.

We hope to use the track to host WGPC18 if the Willityan Deuxième Prix goes well.

Bio: A driver whose career has been quite of an rollercoaster so far, the 22-year old Togonistani started racing at quite a late age of 15, when he participated in Togonistan Rallycross League, finishing his maiden season in top of the Junior Class rankings. A year later he was picked up by Kaylan Racing team and joined their youth development program. Next season he participated in TTRL (Togonistan Track Racing League), a set of domestic stock car racing series. Given on loan to Domerton Motorsports for seasons 2012 and 2013, he participated in the series and showed some promising results, finishing the seasons 12th and 9th respectively. In 2014, Falepeau moved to Kaylan's representative team and spent the season as a reserve driver until 2015, when he became driver #2 for the team. He ended up 6th in 2015 season and 2nd in 2016 season. However, due to an influx of multiple younger, more promising drivers, Falepeau was sacked from the team for the next season, although still keeping ties with them.

2017 was a year of great changes for Falepeau, who decided to do a complete hairpin turn in his career. With no prior experience in open-seater racing, the young Togoni jumped aboard the WGP2 train. Being a rather unknown driver to the international stage, Falepeau eventually ended up signing a 1-year long contract with New Scaiva and Horshenwurst-based Junixwagen team. WGP2 2017 season was a rough ride for Falepeau, as his lack of experience with the machinery, accompanied by multiple mechanical failures on his car left him struggling on the grid. Eventually, Falepeau ended the season on mere 22nd place in Drivers' standing, with 6th place achieved in Yakumicha GP2 Challenge being his best result.

Following his first season in WGP2, Falepeau's future was unsure until he got picked up by MRT2, with whom he spent the 2nd season of WGP2 as the team's sole entrant. What is largely considered as a great leap in his career, Falepeau showed consistent results in MRT2, eventually ending the season on 11th place in the drivers standings with 42 points under his name.

Being the most successful Togonistani driver to date, Falepeau has gained some great PR through the media outlets during the years and is generally liked by fans of the sport. While not the most technically proficient driver on the grid, he has gained himself a reputation of chill, consistent and reliable driver who is able to be fast without taking too much risks. Approaching to the 3rd season of WGP2, Falepeau hopes to make a breakthrough this season.

Bio: Multi-time domestic go-karting champion and a member of Kaylan's youth development program, the 18-year old Togonistani driver is currently Kaylan's biggest hope for the future. The young Togoni, grown up in a motorsport-oriented family started racing go-karts at the age of 10 and immediately shined amongst his peers. At the young age of 15, he joined Kaylan's youth development program and has been their academy driver ever since. Having shown constant development as a driver over multiple seasons, Fanene was announced as Kaylan's driver for the 2nd season of WGP2, where he made his open-seater debut.

Quiet and hard-working, Fanene has proven himself as a driver who is able to learn from his mistakes and constantly improve his driving skills. Having participated in the previous season of WGP2 alongside Maryloupin driver Max Predofski and finishing the season 4 points ahead of his more experienced teammate, Fanene is more than likely to continue his ventures in Kaylan Racing with many eyes turned to him to see what the young Togoni is capable of achieving this season.

The team has it's branch in almost every domestic racing series, starting with karting and ending with rallycross. Since 2016, the team has expanded their projects to open-seater racing and has constantly put more emphasis on these grounds, with fielding a WGP2 team last season as well as providing cars for WGP3 ENZ Championship since the start of the year.

For this season, the team plans to continue aboard the WGP2 train, retaining the same core with Tanielu Felafa continuing as the team chief, accompanied by lead designer Lisa Tauati, lead mechanic Jared Toelau and scouting specialist Niko Ausage. The team is planning to introduce a new car for the season, with brand-new KM T-160 chassis and more powerful Kaieke 2 internal combustion engine.

Margin for Error (1-5): 1

Qualifying Type (Traditional, Two-Tier, One-Shot, Elimination): Elimination
Lap Record (m:ss.xxx): 1:10.103
Lap Length (km): 4.025

Bio: Hwoarang Racing Circuit, located at the outskirts of the city of Hwoarang, is a race track built in 2002 at the area of an old abandoned military airfield. With the length of 4.025km, it is the biggest racing circuit in the nation.

When the airfield closed in 1998, it was left unused and it didn't take long until local street racers took it over as a good place for hosting their drag race competitions. However, eventually, local authorities also found out about the events happening there. The City Council liked the fact that local motorsports enthusiasts had found a use for the airstrip and they quickly started plans for turning the area into an actual raceway. Work started in 2000 and the racetrack was opened to the public two years later. Over the time, the track has constantly been upgraded and built to fit the needs of as many different racing disciplines as possible.

Over the course of the years, the track has been used to host various motorsport competitions, some of the more notable ones being WGP2 S1 Hwoarang GP, TTRL Hwoarang Challenge and Hwoarang 24h Endurance Cup.

The 4.025 km-long track is one of the fastest tracks in the whole Novapax region. Built on top of the old military airbase, the surface is generally very flat and the elevation changes during the course are really abysmal. With multiple airstrips integrated to the circuit, the wide straights allow for great overtaking opportunities with the use of slipstreaming, accompanied with some sharp corners at the end to truly pull of some spectacular maneuvers. The long runoffs on the either side of the track can encourage the drivers to truly go for risks during the race.

With Hwoarang not having got included in the last season of WGP2, the organizers are hoping to bring WGP2 back to nation this time. Renamed as ZX-Flow Hwoarang WGP2 Challenge, the race got a sponsor on board this time in the form of Tushlarkian Beverages Ltd, the biggest brewing company in Togonistan. The company is running a promotional campaign of their ZX-Flow Energy Drink, providing some much-needed funding for the organizers to get the racetrack fit for WGP2 safety regulations.

Bio: Born to working class parents, Rod started racing go-karts at an age of 8. Realizing that their son has potential for a motorsports career in Filindostan, they encouraged him to pursue his dreams while sacrificing a lot of their money to enter him to Monghit's driver academy at the age of 15. It was seven years later that their rewards would be reaped with Rod winning the WGP3 Filindostan drivers' championship at the final round at Yogyakulta, and earn him a sponsorship contract with Badai Angin.

Problem is, IGR had already penciled in Gergarian Barnabas Mate to a tentative contract at the WGP2 team. However, if any other team pick up the opportunity to sign the second runner-up in last years national championship, then he will be signed for the team. He is open for other opportunities, but that would mean losing Badai Angin's sponsorship and money. Barnabas' and IGR's moves will dictate if he will drive for the team in WGP2 or in WGP3, or risk losing support should he pursue other opportunities.

Bio: Ibuna-Gambal Racing d/b/a Badai Angin Junior Team-IGR, or simply Badai Angin-IGR, is a collaboration between Filindostani automotive company Badai Angin, and Rudolf Ibuna and Bryant Gambal's Ibuna-Gambal Racing. IGR competed in last season's WGP2, however, with Chiemi Hino and Tyra Tabuso on the wheel, they only finished in scoring positions in two occasions. Badai Angin invested into the team and collaborated with IGR to feed future and upcoming Filindostani drivers into the Badai Angin WGPC effort in seasons to come.

As WGP2 regulations prohibit the signing of drivers from allied nations for teams with WGPO experience, the team signing WGP3 Filindostan champion Rod Gozum will be contingent on other teams signing Barnabas Mate as part of any tyre deal with Solymok. The other seat will be contested by a testing session at Kimantara Trac.

Lap Length (km): 4.373

Bio: The motorsports authority of Filindostan have submitted a bid to the WGP2 organizing committee for the streets of San Marco to host a round of the WGP2, and another round of the WGPC this year. The Ras Kabishawan, sponsored by Puroll, is planned to be held in the San Marco Street Circuit near the Filindostan National Stadium, with the start/finish line being the stretch of Calle Sturiaga.

The narrow streets of San Marco, despite having numerous bends and straights, require technical skill from the drivers to negotiate, and a tiniest bit of mistake can cost a driver their race. The first part of the circuit is a sequence of straights and bends in a downward slope from Calle Sturiaga (between turns 1-3), before negotiating a flat portion of the track known as the 'Rotonda'. After negotiating turn 4 from the Rotonda, a sequence of twisty corners will need to be negotiated, starting with the X-chicane followed by a hairpin at turn 8. Car speeds are expected to be slow from turns 8 and 9 up to 17, when an uphill bend leads to a treacherous turn 18, a high speed bend with a blind spot, just before hitting the brakes on turn 19, and turning right to turn 20 that leads back to the length of Calle Sturiaga.

Bio: Barnabas hails from the Gergarian capital, Ingbert-Borbely, where he was exposed to motorsports watching Alexander Lund winning the WGPC 12 and Alexandra Mayari winning next season. He raced go-karts at the age of 10, and was discovered by DMR's scout Ferko Koos, and signed him to a long term developmental contract to the team. Winning a number of local championships in Gergary, Koos gave him a seat in the Solymok-funded DMR team to compete in the WGP3 Filindostan, and led much of the time in the Drivers' championship, before losing the title to Rod Gozum in the final race of the season.

His aggression while keeping his tyres intact for much of the race piqued the interest of tyre supplier Solymok, which signed him in a sponsorship contract to be one of their tyre testers, and could be one of the signing chips when the Gergarian tyre supplier offer their services to a number of WGP2 teams on the grid, the same route his girlfriend Tyra Tabuso did last WGPC season.

However, should teams pass up the opportunity to signup the Gergarian hotshot, there is always a team that could sign him up for the season - Badai Angin-IGR.

The 21 year-old originates from Danskia, the same region of the country as WGPC veteran Alex Dimitrianov and honed his skills in the same manner as the local hero. Vestergaard's record in the icy rallies of the Mattijanan north is hugely exciting and the step to open wheel racing seemed inevitable after just one season on the snow.
Signing for the Mattijana Racing Team's young driver programme, Vestergaard took some time to adjust to the different demands of Mattijanan domestic formula racing, but showed promise late in his first season, ending the championship 5th. He built on that emphatically in his second season, winning the championship by 30 points. Whether he can perform similarly against the best young drivers in the world is another question.

Bio:

The Revinka Street Circuit was first raced on around 40 years ago as open wheel racing spread across the country of Mattijana. A course was mapped out around the promenade, harbour and old town of Revinka as well as the hills and coast of the nearby district of Lubenice.

The start/finish straight is situated on the promenade road adjacent to the city's main beach and feeds into a fast right-hander that winds around the base of Revinka castle. That switches back into a slower left-hander that releases cars onto the edge of the harbour. A few 90° corners take the circuit around the harbour's edge to the end of sector 1.

Sector 2 is a scarier piece of track. A more open, but still winding coast road takes cars around the bottom of the hills along the coast to the suburb of Lubenice where a tight left-handed leads the cars steeply uphill into the centre of Lubenice through a double hairpin. Turn 13 once again opens the track up onto a more open section as some edge of the seat and undulating corners bring the circuit back down to sea level with the barriers a little too close for comfort.

The final sector is a more direct one. A fast left-hander at 20 leads into a short straight before the fast section from 21 to 23 featuring the right-hander at 22 that can just about be taken flat. The final couple of 90°turns flow back onto the promenade.

It's tight, it's fast and you wouldn't get away with it in real life.

Drivers and even principals for UrGa might come and go, but Taras remains the only consistent factor on that team. Taras doesn't even have the regular background that one might expect from racecar drivers; he started off as a regular factory floor worker for UrGa before getting "promoted" to being a literal test driver, driving UrGa's automotive offerings across a variety of road and weather conditions and documenting the experiences of the drivers and passengers. When UrGa decided to enter the world of motorsports, they literally threw Taras into the very first chassis they produced with the order "Go as fast as possible." This resulted in him winning the first ever drivers' championship in the Coalition Grand Prix Racing Association in 2021, as well as helping UrGa to their first (and so far only) constructors' title. Then in the next season, Taras was involved in a crash that almost cost him his life, and he has never raced the same after that. Taras never challenged for another drivers' title after that, but yet UrGa kept their faith with him, maybe because he is literally one of them. But Taras' time with UrGa may finally be coming to an end given WGP2's insistence that all driver entrants start off as free agents.

Bio: The son of stock car racer Guillermo Archer. It can be said that motorsports is in William's blood. William was exposed to racing at a very young age, having been brought to his father's races since he was three years old. For all intents and purposes it seemed as if William would follow Guillermo into stock car racing, but a trip to a go-kart racing track when he was 8 years old changed all that. William took to karting like a fish takes to water and began winning trophies in his local races and junior categories. Then, at 16 years old William made the leap into Grand Prix racing, or at least something a little bit close to it. William didn't win the title in his rookie year in the Coalition Grand Prix Racing Association, but placing 8th in a field of 22 drivers is still a very decent performance. And now, with UrGa Motorsports opting to test the waters of truly multiversal racing in the form of WGP2, William now has the chance to cut his teeth at the second-to-the-top level. It's said that he also has an eye on moving up to the WGPC depending on or no matter how his time WGP2 pans out. Just something to keep in mind.

Bio: The Urotovsky-Gatutin General Machine Building Enterprise, commonly shortened to just UrGa, was established on 29 May 1936 under Mikhail Ustinovich Urotovsky and Mikhail Abramovich Gatutin to produce trucks for the Pridnestrovian Army as well as the numerous collectivized farms throughout Pridnestrovia. During the Pridnestrovian-Ixanian War of 1941-47, UrGa began producing T-34 tanks alongside their trucks to aid in the war effort, with an estimated 4,200 tanks rolling off of their production lines by war's end. In the 1950s, Mikhail Gatutin created the Gatutin Space and Rocketry Bureau which would produce the Ga-36 ballistic missile, the backbone of Pridnestrovia's nuclear launch capability in the 60s to the 80s. The Ga-36 was also the inspiration for the Feniks rocket which carried Pridnestrovian cosmonauts into space. More recently, specifically the turn of the new millennium, UrGa entered the automotive industry by acquiring the controlling stake in Minchev Automobiles, an Abanhfleft-based company renowned for producing simple, cheap, and rugged cars and pickup trucks.

In the field of motorsports, UrGa is not among the best, but it's also not among the worst. The Minchev Bobcat has been the primary truck used by the Abanhfleft Racing Truck Series for over thirty years, and in terms of Grand Prix racing, UrGa Motorsports Division won the inaugural Coalition Gran Prix Racing Association constructors' championship in 2021. Other teams have since edged UrGa out of the Coalition constructors' title race, but that hasn't stopped them from dreaming of bumping elbows with the elite of multiversal Grand Prix racing. Bio: Ferramendiak had had a street circuit on the domestic scene for twenty years before lack of funding halted the fixture for good twenty years ago. The city passed up multiple opportunities to re-open the circuit for WGPC racing, citing a prohibitively high initial startup cost, but the rise in popularity in racing, coupled with generous donations from local businesses, finally lead to the city acquiescing and hiring a team to set up the necessities, finishing in time for the inaugural WGP2 season, held schroding* WGPC15. The result is a slightly altered layout. For example Plaza de la Paz (turn three) no longer runs straight down to Zirkulu but negotiates the tricky turns of Karratura instead.

After the start-finish line the drivers funnel into Zubia Sarreran (Bridge Entrance) and coast over the bridge towards the Mazarredo hairpin, taken slowly, before forcing the car round the PdlP corner and down to Karratua. Karratua, or 'square' in the local dialect, is a rectangular section of the circuit that the cars will have to negotiate carefully before they negotiate the Plaza Txordin hairpin. Once these obstacles have been negotiated, the drivers launch into the first real overtaking opportunity on the circuit, attempting to dive up the inside at the run-in to Zirkulu (or 'circle'). The end of Zirkulu opens out to the Eiger / Twelve / Apostol right/left/right turns which the drivers should be able to take faster and faster with each corner becoming more and more open, before Santuen and then the quick Geltoka Kurba. The second bridge is then traversed before the most important corner of the circuit, the narrow Gailurra Antzerki. Getting a good exit here is vitally important, coming as it does before the longest 'straight' on the circuit.

The river, running through the middle of the circuit, is perhaps the course's most famous landmark, as is the grand theatre at Geltoka Kurba and the converted roundabout of 'Zirkulu'.

Eiger, Zirkulu and the two Zubia corners all have run-off areas where it's possible to turn to get back onto the track. Most other parts of the circuit simply have track-side walls, meaning mistakes can prove costly.

*schroding is an Audioslavian word used when both the words 'after' and 'during' are equally and paradoxically true

It's certainly cliché, but from a tourist's-eye view, Île Saint-Joseph resembles a charming, sleepy medieval village. That’s because it is: although the tiny, independent island nation has kept up with the times, it hasn’t visibly changed much in the last five hundred years. But for two weeks each year, the whole island is given a makeover. That's when the grand prix comes to town.

Having a grand prix circuit here is a challenge, and that isn’t just because the racetrack has to be squeezed into the town’s narrow old streets. Perhaps Île Saint-Joseph’s most iconic feature is that it's only accessible from the mainland twice a day for six hours at a time. The waters between the island and the coast, seven hundred meters away, never recede enough that the seabed is visible, but at low tide a causeway appears from amidst the waves. This unique access to the island—other than by boat—is blocked off a week before the grand prix arrives when a host of engineers descend on the town to put in place the non-permanent features of the circuit. Given that the track is a hybrid with a large street circuit section, it comprises many elements which cannot stay in place year-round. Chief among these is the unique technology used on the tidal causeway.

Obviously, it wouldn’t do for a WGP track to be submerged in saltwater half the day. It would never be driveable. But the designers of the Circuit d’Arès, as it is known, (named for its resemblance to that god’s astrological sign) have developed an innovative technological solution to this problem. A retractable, waterproof cover makes sure that the track stays dry while underwater but can also be used again right away as soon as the tide is low enough. With less than six hours at a time available for any events on the circuit, scheduling is always tight and there is limited time for practice and qualifying.

The starting grid lines up in the middle of the causeway. The start/finish line is in fact an international border; Île Saint-Joseph wouldn't be able to fit the entire circuit in its small territory, so the track extends across the causeway into France, where the pit lane and grandstands are. With more space on the mainland, that part of the track was designed to be a racing circuit and doesn’t have the restrictions of the street circuit on the other side. More of the facilities on the French side, then, can be left permanently in place, although the road from the island does need to make its way through that general area.

A lap around the track finds the cars starting in the middle of the water, where many spectators come out on boats to get a nice view of the finish line and enjoy the day on the water, assuming the weather is nice enough here in often-rainy Normandy. Many of the turns in the street circuit are blind, thanks to the buildings in the way, and the first is no exception. As the cars pass through the city gate they turn to the right at La Herse, named for the now-unused portcullis under which they have just driven. Another aspect of the Circuit d’Arès is its elevation changes, and that is first encountered here, as the track begins to climb as it winds its way up Île Saint-Joseph’s main road toward the center of town. This gently curving section is taken at full speed but has no constant radius—the whole thing is usually referred to as the Change-Monnaie turn although it’s more accurately three slight corners and two small straights.

Next, the circuit bends away in the other direction, and from a driver’s point of view, disappears over a crest. At least drivers can see corners where there are corners coming up by the position of the adjacent buildings. The track winds its way down a sharply descending, hairpin-studded section to a straight along the harbor mouth. Having reached the quays, the circuit then climbs once more, arriving at its highest point—also the island’s—in the square in front of St. Joseph’s Basilica. The circuit has entered its second sector at this point, just in front of the town hall, and the second sector is dominated by fast straightaways with sharp corners, unlike the twisty first sector.

The first of these straights to begin to descend again runs from Tanneur to Falaise corners, and is just barely sloped downward as it runs past the abbey. Falaise is most likely the most dangerous corner in the race; right at the top of a cliff, there is no space for a runoff zone, only a wall—and on the other side, a sheer drop down to the rocks and waves below. The track turns along the top of the cliff to the left, where it sweeps downward back toward the city gate. Then another sharp corner, Marches, named for the fact that this is the steepest part of the track—so steep, in fact, that before the racing surface was put in, this road was steep enough to require shallow steps. Turn 22, which is only the slightest of kinks, is taken at full speed, and the drivers find themselves on the causeway again, on the fastest section of the track.

Having crossed the border into France by the time they reach Frontière, the cars arrive on the purpose-built section of the track in sector three. The third sector is one big bend and a few sharp turns after some more long full-speed straights, and is lined with grandstands. The pit lane is here, the only place there was space for it. Access roads connect the back of the paddocks with a gate in the track at the beginning of the causeway so teams can access the starting grid. The gate opens onto the track at Dernier, the last turn of the circuit before the cars pull away again onto the causeway and on to their next lap.

The Circuit d’Arès, then, is idiosyncratic in several ways. It is partially on an island; it is split across two different countries; it isn’t accessible all day long, since part of it is underwater half the day; half of the track—but only half—is a street circuit; and there are other small details as well, such as the fact that the pit lane isn’t at the finish line. But one other interesting detail is that if it is chosen by the WGPO, the Circuit d'Arès will be one of only a couple actual grands prix on the WGP2 calendar. Most grands prix are only contested at the WGPC level, but Île Saint-Joseph is so small that it only has one race, and that race is, of course, by definition, its grand prix. Yet although the Circuit d’Arès has been around for years, it has never sought to be part of the WGP calendar. Therefore this season the race’s organizing committee is applying for a spot in the WGP2 calendar, and if all goes well, hopefully in the WGPC next year. Thus for now, it will be a grand prix in the second tier competition.

2. Please note that the current lap record (given in the image) is not the same as the projected lap record. Both are at WGPC speeds

This nation is a puppet of the Sherpa Empire. I thought about doing a serious relatively normal Sherpa team, but decided this was more interesting.

Team Name: US Navy
Nation: USS Monitor
Nation Trigram: USN (short for US Navy, which owns the Monitor, not the other way around)
Team Colour (Hex Code): 000040
Reliability/Acceleration/Turning (total: 12, max. per stat: 5): 2/5/5

Bio: After the success of the USS Monitor at the Battle of Hampton Roads, Union leaders became curious what other kinds of innovative machinery could be created using iron and steam. Someone suggested that the Monitor's low flat deck -- which made it vulnerable to boarding -- could be turned into an advantage by equipping the ship with steam-powered armored landing craft. The low flat deck would make it easy to unload the craft. There was just one problem: It was 1862 and motor vehicles did not exist yet. So the Navy's best engineers got to work designing one.

The landing craft normally burn coal and have a top speed around 30 MPH, but it has been speculated that equipping the craft with high-tech rubber tires and burning magic algae salvaged from the ruins of Atlantis could allow them to reach higher speeds. All that's needed now is brave men to test it!

Name: Nykipiflugpuun Noortekoondis
Nation: Nykipiflugpuu (puppet of Aboveland)
Nation Trigram: NYK
Team Colour (Hex Code): ffffff
Reliability/Acceleration/Turning (total: 12, max. per stat: 5): 4.5/2.5/5

Bio: The Nykipiflugpuu Youth Team, or Nykipiflugpuun Noortekoondis, was born out of the desire of Ælund Racing, the Abovian branch of Tropicorp Racing Ælund, to dip a toe in WGP2 and check up on the stars of the future, and the necessity of the fledgling Nykipiflugpuuan government to place themselves on the world stage and sway their economic prowess towards the tertiary sector through tourism. Nykipiflugpuu itself, formed out of the three Svalbardian republics united in 2017, is the most recent country to form part of the Abovian Union and, after months of political turmoil and civil unrest, is essentially independent of the central government of Vankkavalta, relying on Aboveland primarily for fiscal and, strangely, defense purposes.

Motorsport in Nykipiflugpuu has always been dominated by snow and ice competitions, owing to its location within the Arctic circle, and its first foray into international motorsport came at the hands of Axel Novikov's co-driver H.A. Baardsen in their triumpant 2018 season of the Hodori Rally Championship. However, with the popularity of grand prix racing around the union increasing year after year, the government decided it would be a wise idea to field a team in the WGPC's lesser category as a stepping stone to, perhaps someday, placing Nykipiflugpuu on the map for international racing.

Unfortunately, the theoretical team in question, owned by Klara Rautiainen and run by her brother-in-law, Morten Kristiansen, found insufficient technical knowledge in Nykipiflugpuu to properly participate in a world class competition: the chassis was able to be sourced from New Emberton, the Union's most motorsport-inclined member, but neither the technical staff, the powerplant, nor the operating expertise was found in Svalbard. Enter, thus, Ælund Racing. The Abovian team, Edvin Pekkanen at its head, agreed to run half of the Nykipiflugpuuan outfit's operations, under their name, in exchange for a say in the team's lineup and between 30 and 40 percent of its total revenue.

It was so that Nykipiflugpuun Noortekoondis was founded. Technically, its car is rather simple and out-dated: the Embertonian chassis (Ælund Racing was consulted about building a chassis for the team but turned down the offer to focus on its WGPC18 efforts) is a tried and true design which offers excellent strength and stability, and Ælund Racing's input allowed for the addition of passive four-wheel steering and a focus on reliability. The power unit on offer, however, is a slightly upgraded unit similar to that found on WGP2 season one's Novikov Racing machine, itself loosely the base for Tropicorp Racing Ælund's first powerplant found in WGPC16's AGP001 and a far cry from the sophisticated, Tropicorp developed AGP002 engine.

You know what, we'll be back.

Team Name: SVJ Racing
Nation: Savojarna
Nation trigram: SVJ
Team colour: #0000FF (can be a bit darker as well, if that works better)
Reliability/Acceleration/Turning: 3/4/5

BIO: The SVJ Racing team was put together as a part of Savojarna's national Grand Prix Racing Development Program before the second WGP2 season. Its main use is to provide experience for a future Savojar WGPC team as well as to serve as a vehicle for talented Savojar drivers to prepare for the WGPC program. It is heavily funded by the Savojar government, namely the Sports Authority SSA and the motor sports association SARA as well as the tourist office. Other parts of this program are the promotion of Savojar drivers in the WGPC through sponsorships and training programs, which produced already a constructors champion in Sigur Bjarnason; the establishment of high-level testing and racing circuits in the country that can host international events with Yarkovo International Circuit as its figurehead projects; and in the long term the establishment of a native Savojar WGPC team.

SVJ Racing is a collaboration of the two leading car manufacturers in Savojarna, Landsmarks Automobilen and the Johansborg Motor Collective JMC. Both companies have a long experience in rallye and endurance racing, and have provided vital parts of the car. The aerodynamics were mostly constructed in collaboration with the National Technical University of Pawlograd, the leading technical university of the country, in a special project funded by SARA. it was decided that shall the team be accepted into the series, they would fill one driver spot with a Savojar driver and leave one open for an international test drive. A second Savojar talent driver would be kept in reserve (OOCly: come in if there were a withdrawal of another driver for whatever reason). The staff of SVJ Racing is partially made up from people who already have experience in the WGPC with MRT: Sigur Bjarnason was the leading test driver in the construction process, while race engineer Krister Arlund is SVJ's head of strategy. The team principal is the former rallye champion and team owner Jussi Parjamäki, while the role of chief engineer was taken by Dr. Pavel Suvchenko from the NTU Pawlograd. General oversight of the program lies with SARA on behalf of the SSA.

The team had signed Roman Arjenko and Vilitan Jama'abo Pegasii last season, and while there had been some success early on, it quickly went all downhill. SVJ had been victim of internal chaos and some strife within the SSA that had seen the entire project in trouble. With no more development funding available, the Savojar team had collapsed more or less entirely, and its continuation was in danger. However, there was a quick push to salvage the effort by the hands of JMC, under the condition that they would get more of a lead in the engine design and retain the rights to use the engine technology in their commercial cars. As a result, JMC built a strong hybrid engine that utilises cutting edge technology, but has been considered a bit feeble. A particular focus of the engine and gearbox constructed by JMC are on the efficiency of the transmission, which is considered extremely good. NTU Pawlograd and Suvchenko continue to offer a strong aero package, a strength of last year's team that has been further improved. This is a car that should shine in twisty courses, but will be harmed on high-speed tracks due to its somewhat lower raw engine power.

Name: Roman Arjenko
Name Trigram: ARJ
Nation: Savojarna
Nation Trigram: SVJ
First Preference Car Number: 75
Second Preference Car Number: -- (choose yourself)
Reliability/Aggression/Technique (total: 12, max. per stat: 5): 3/5/4

Bio: Arjenko is a young driver that was born in the south of Russica, quite close to Yarkovo, where the Savojar Grand Prix is located. The 22 year old is in the Savojarna Racing Development Program that has pushed Sigur Bjarnason to the WGPC, and following in the footsteps of his idol is Roman's biggest dream. Unlike most Savojar drivers, he has no rallye experience but drove kart races and closed-wheel series before the expansion of open-wheel racing. His biggest triumph prior to the SVJ Racing program was the victory over his idol Bjarnason in the Savojar Youth Racing Championship, where the WGPC driver joined as a star guest. He had then driven for SVJ in the last season of the second tier, where he had some moderate success showing his skill, but also some serious setbacks. Arjenko is an aggressive and audacious driver who always pursues victory at all costs. Off the track, he is rather impulsive and extremely driven to the point of obsession with little details if he believes they make him win. An extremely competitive driver, most of his actions are driven by the question of "does this make me win?" He was supposed to compete in WGPC 17, but got injured in a training crash before the season. As part of his recovery, he will drive in the WGP2 again.

Name: Akresna Circuit
Location (settlement/geographical feature): At the hills in between Akresna and Neranava
Country: Auruna
Nation Trigram: AUR
Name of Event: WGP2 Race of the Hills (or Race of the Aurun Hills)

Aggressiveness/Technical Difficulty (total: 10): 3/7
Percentage Chance of Rain (max: 18%): 7%
Overtaking Difficulty (1-5): 3.5
Margin for Error (1-5): 4

Qualifying Type (Traditional, Two-Tier, One-Shot, Elimination): Traditional
Lap Record (m:ss.xxx): 1:47.763 (estimated), 1:42.211 (AtMA, 1997)
Lap Length (km): 6.244 km

Bio:
Located at the Aurun hills, near the city of Akresna just north of Veratuna, is the most popular, successful, and challenging Akresna Circuit. With an altitude of about 1,350 m above sea level, the circuit is both challenging for both the drivers and cars. After the formation of the Mötoraaroitu Nazyonalla Auruna (MNA), this is one of the circuits that are now government owned and it was saved from closure by the MNA and it is one of the Viska Racing test tracks due to a partnership with Schkeska Motors. First built in 1956, the track features a wide variety of elevation changes and corners, also featuring the Akresna Tunnel that goes down though a hill (Although it is not used in the International Layout). With decent run-off areas and one of the best facilities in Auruna, the circuit is one of the best in Auruna and is a part of the Aurun Trinity Circuits.

Akresna Circuit was chosen to host a WGP2 race as it is one of the closest to the capital and the Veratuna Circuit has a busy schedule hosting AtMA, Endurance, and Time Attack events. This is the first time Auruna is hosting an international motorsport for decades. If the race is successful and proved to be popular, it may pave the way for Auruna hosting for the next season and potentially the next WGPC season.

Akresna starts off with the start/finish straight followed by a heavy braking zone to Turn 1, Valantov, then a fast Turn 2 that goes uphill. Turns 3 continues the uphill climb where Sector 2 starts at the exit of Turn 4. Sector 2, also called the "Hill Run", starts with a short straight to Turn 5 then followed by a slightly downhill straight then to a heavy braking zone to Turn 6 that goes back uphill to a kink, where an old bunker is next to, then Turn 7 which heads to the Akresna Sun section where most of the pictures of the track are taken, usually at sunset and during endurance races. At Turn 8, Politov, the Akresna Tunnel is located, it is unused in the international layout. What follows is a series of uphill-downhill corners ending with Turn 12, this is the most challenging part of the circuit where oversteer and understeer are prevalent and demands good throttle control by the drivers if they make a small mistake in this section, they will end up in the barriers. Still going downhill, a straight leads on to Turn 13, Veren Ukä, which starts Sector 3, the fastest sector. The fast corners and chicanes of Turns 15, 16, 17, and 18. Cars go though this section flat-out and at this area is where most of the grandstands are located. Drivers usually get caught out at Turns 17 and 18 where they can oversteer into the barriers and ending their race. A final heavy braking zone to the Turn 19, Kaulinta. Another fast straight followed by a fast Turn 20, Entenalla (Similar to Parabolica of Monza) that leads to the start/finish straight which then completes a lap.

Edit: Some mistakes, thanks for pointing them out Nimbus!
