Protaex Deployment Complete
The Ticking Flu Epidemic can finally be said to have reached its end. Representatives of ARK and the NHS have announced that final deployment of Protaex nationwide has been completed, paving the way for complete recovery.
While final numbers have yet to be formalized, official estimations of the impact of the Ticking Flu estimate Atnaian casualties to have reached 1.45 million, with an estimated 3.8 million remaining infected. Protaex is a symptom suppresant, which, in tandem with preexisting vaccinations, will allow those infected with the Flu to live relatively normal lifestyles with consistent application.
Application injectors are being distributed to pharmacies nationwide, and weekly doses will be available for $150. Read more...
Deteriorating Relations with Osters "Saddening" to Hegemon
"I can't begin to elucidate my disappointment."
These are the words Hegemon Tomas Wessich used to explain his opinion on deteriorating relations with long-time allies in Ostehaar. With protestors chanting outside the Atnaian embassy in Ostehaar, the Hegemon has confirmed that his office is currently examining multiple options to deal with the situation.
"We are loathe to sever relations with such an important and long-term friend," the Hegemon said at his address this morning, "but we cannot continue to allow them to scoff at our hard-won sovereignty. The actions that we take to continue the security of our people in a time of unprecedented trial are not theirs to criticize or undermine, and the fact that they are allowing a childish fiction of events become their reality is saddening to me. I have had a long and productive relationship with my Oster friends, and the fact that they would so willingly see pragmatism as butchery is more than disappointing. I still hold out hope for reconciliation, but if this path continues, we will continue to review all options."
What measures may be taken are at this time currently unknown. Public and state sentiment has seen a drastic downturn in support of Atnaian policies over past months, despite former firm support and aid in multiple important endeavors. Politicians in Oster have been fanning the fires of negative public sentiment. Oster critics have been attacking Atnaian internal policy on matters of stability and enforcement, despite continued goodwill efforts from the Quorum and the Hegemon's office. With Ostehaar being one of Atnaia's closest allies, it is at this time assumed that the Hegemon's Office will be courting other nation's to support current efforts in Merrit Isle Circuitory Prefecture. Nuclear Subsidies Announced by Quorum
Amidst continued hostilities in the Merrit Isle Circuitory Prefecture, the Quorum has announced a plan for subsidies to uranium mining and exportation corporations that operate on the Isle.
"Encouraging the economic growth of Merrit Isle into new and important industries is of critical importance to the Hegemonic Quorum," announced Lady Jessika Loswith. "Our foremost concern is returning stability to Merrit Isle, Atnaia and the Mesder region, and to do that we must give the people of Merrit Isle gainful employment to look forward to."
Among the subsidies announced is government support for uranium exports to nations developing their own nuclear power concerns.
"The Quorum wants to show that Atnaia no longer fears the future of safe, clean energy," Loswith said. "The missteps of the Coup and the aristocratic government of the pass will no longer hang over us. We will lead the way to a greener tomorrow and hope the Isles will follow." Read more...
Gladitorial Season Over for Pjos Vesk
Pjos Vesk, a favourite to take home the heavyweight championships in the renewed National Gladiatorial Combat League, has seen this season ended prematurely. While in a bout with Vvilim Migs in Purth-Graje last night, a damaged spear, normally dulled to prevent undue injury in friendly matches, managed to cause severe damage to Vesk's thigh. Vesk was rushed into surgery to fix damage to his femural artery, and is not likely to recover in time for the competitive bouts in February.
"Obviously, I'm very disappointed," said Vesk's indenturement owner, Marsen vich Kelt. "Vesk is a real competitor and it's horrifying to think that a single freak accident was so close to ending his career."
Vesk's training team have announced that they are ready to pick up his training as soon as he is back on his feet, and that he will definitely be ready for the autumn season.
"We hope to have him ready by the Summer Games," said lead trainer Piah Vinetj. "But barring that, nothing will hold Vesk back from the League fights this autumn." Read more...
