The Grand Council of Parliament reacts to SHOCK and the Arun Valley Protocol

The upper house of the Parliament of Townside met today at the behest of the Grand Princes to discuss the threats made to Townside by the terrorist organisation SHOCK from Athara Magarat just over a week ago. Townside was but one of twenty countries across the Isles that were subjected to threats by a youth in combat uniform regarding a 'noble war' on behalf of the indigenous peoples of the isles - so the New Libang Herald reports.

Many of the Lords, both Temporal and Spiritual, were tempted to write these band of hooligans off as nothing more than teenagers taking their edgy teenage angst to another level.

However, the Grand Council was concerned by the Metro Attack that eventuated in The Socialist Republics of Combrekniza following the threats. For that the Grand Council shortly offered their solidarity with the victims of those attacks. Additionally, the Grand Council also noted the statement released by the Vancouvian Congress regarding their stance on SHOCK.

"As many of us in this Grand Council should know, the Free Lands of Vancouvia is not a nation to cower easily. If their Congress finds it fit to say that SHOCK is to be taken seriously, it might be in the best interest of our own Land to follow suit," the Prince of Faraday argued to his fellow Lords.

A motion to condemn SHOCK for their threats and their attacks, and to label them a terrorist organisation in Townside, was introduced by the Prince of Fleming.

It came as a surprise to many that the King of Jenner, the King of Nightingale, the Prince of Faraday and the King of Elmore all seconded the Prince of Fleming's motion. This is unprecedented, as the Five Rulers usually find themselves at odds with one another. Such is the gravity of the situation, so our political commentator says.

Supporting that motion also were the Anglican and Catholic Bishops, the Buddhist Monks and the Kenari Priests. The Bishops stated that those who perpetuate such evil and divisive threats and attacks are evil to the core and have sinned beyond measure - that God and His Kingdom shall elude these sick and depraved individuals forever. The Monks said that SHOCK's actions were regrettable, but that sooner or later, their karma shall catch up with their bad deeds eventually, and they will naturally pay the price for their wrongdoing. The Kenari Priests joined the Christian Bishops and Buddhist Monks with a statement saying that the Constellation of Kenaris no longer shines on these individuals, and that their souls shall be lost forever in the never ending void of the sea.

The Kenari Priests additionally stated that they do not support this war being 'in the name of indigenous peoples'.

"It does not take much effort of deduction to realise that SHOCK's claim of a fight in the name of indigenous people obviously extends to the Ipachi people of Townside. I would like to make it clear now that SHOCK's actions do not speak on behalf of the Ipachi Townsiders. The Ipachi Townsiders reject wholeheartedly the mindless and foolish actions of SHOCK, as they are against everything we Ipachi Townsiders believe and stand for," the Kenari High Priest said as the spiritual leader of many Ipachi Townsiders.

Supporting this statement more vociferously and critically was the Ipachi Elder, the secular leader of the Ipachi Townsiders, who made a passionate speech in the Grand Council that earned him applause from his fellow Lords:

"My fellow Lords of the Grand Council... I have here a letter, undersigned by the five Ipachi Tribal Chiefs, the Chief of the Kenaris Fishing Village, and myself in my capacity as High Chief of Village Kenaris. In this letter addressed to the Grand Princes, our Heroes, of Townside, and this Grand Council in Parliament assembled, we wish to make known our greatest condemnation of the forces of SHOCK for their actions which is, honestly, just stupid and plain dumb...

"However, almost as equally we would like to make known our denouncement of the Arun Valley Protocol, because that false charter, fabricated by some arrogant individuals in Athara Magarat, is by far the most insulting and degrading document to affront the dignity of my people, the Ipachi Townsiders!

"I am sure my fellow Lords are well-acquainted with that unfortunate document, but in case they are not, let me summarise it for you now: it suggests that the Ipachi Townsiders are weak, incompetent and incapable to stand on their own two feet, so much so that we require special attention from the government... that we need special institutions, and a modified education system that will mean we do not learn the lingua franca of our fellow citizen... it speaks as if we are somehow special in our origin that we ought to be held in higher regard than our fellow Townsider simply because of the circumstance of our ancestry.

"Let me remind my fellow Lords of the Great Christmas Island War, which is still very much in the minds of all of us, as it should be. In that war, we, the people of this island, prevailed over the evil pretensions and boundless cruelty of the wretched, self-styled 'Emperor of Christmas Island'. In doing so, we came together as one Townside people, as one people of this united Island, transcending boundaries, religion and race. Black (Ipachi) Townsiders fought alongside the White (British) Townsiders, the Brown (Spanish) Townsiders and the Yellow (Japanese) Townsiders, without regard for the colour of our skin, so much so that when we created our great country, we created one that was truly fair and equal for all.

"Why, I ask, should we end the equality we now enjoy just to satisfy the conceited pretensions of some foreigners west even of Argus? This document seeks to do nothing more than to divide our society between those who came earlier from those who came later. Might I remind those present that the Ipachi Townsiders sailed to this land and settled, in a manner similar to how the British, Spanish and Japanese Townsiders sailed to this land and settled. Just because we came earliest does not mean we should have our own unique land laws, employment regulations and labour laws to set us further apart from our fellow citizens. We are one people, and we only need one Law.

"If my fellow Lords could bear with my ranting for just a bit longer, I would like to say one last thing. This is regarding Athara Magarat's decision to send a certain Cross Hang to somehow convince us to become signatory of their hubris. Of course, foreign diplomats are always welcomed peacefully in Townside, but I would like to warn Mr. Cross Hang ahead of his visit: the Ipachi Townsiders are not a collective of Special Needs individuals. We are a proud and strong race of peoples that is even prouder to be a subset of the great Land of the Town Beside the Sea, and for now and in the years to come, the celestial constellation of Kenaris will shine upon our united island for the glory of all the peoples of our towns beside the sea."

For his speech, the Ipachi Elder received a standing ovation of agreement from his fellow Lords. The Grand Council promptly passed the motion condemning SHOCK, as well as a separate motion expressing their intent to advise the Grand Princes against ratifying the Arun Valley Protocol.

The General Assembly of Parliament, was also summoned around the same time, and is expected to issue a similar stance, as the governing Conservative Party and the official opposition's Liberal Party both expressed condemnation and reservations regarding SHOCK and the Arun Valley Protocol, respectively. Some minor parties in the General Assembly, however, have expressed support for both SHOCK and the Arun Valley Protocol, including the Socialist Party, the Women and Minorities Party and the Green Party. The Grand Princes had earlier expressed that they were both 'unhappy' with SHOCK and the Arun Valley Protocol, while Justice Windeyer of the Royal Court of Townside has explained to the Daily Buzz regarding the redundancy of the Arun Valley Protocol in relation to Townside Law, having thoroughly read the charter. Also, the Federation of Social Justice Warriors - the collective for Townside's far left - have taken to a protest outside the State Library of Townside, in support of SHOCK and the Arun Valley Protocol.

For more news of all this, and more, stay tuned for the next update with the Daily Buzz.

DOMESTIC: ‘Kahuna’ given harsh sentence following remarks from Federal Court Judge.
Arnton, Ainslie

So often do landmark decisions come from our highest courts in the land. Today featured one of these decisions, but it arose out of the Upper Federal Courts, with a new case to refer to for whaling coming about. Ahnslen fisheries company, ‘Retren’ is likely to face negligence charges, and its members are expected to face additional legal action ss Milare Cenzelen, a captain in the Retren fleet was convicted with seven counts of misuse of resources resulting in unethical business behaviour. His two other charges were dropped following charge negotiation.

Cenzelen was convicted in relation to his successful whaling business, where he used Retren resources to hunt whales. Originally, it was suspected that Retren as a company was participating in whaling in the northern seas, but this has now been found to be false. It is likely that Retren will face negligence charges instead.

What surprised stakeholders and the wider Ahnslen populous today was one of the harshest penalties handed to an individual defendant for a crime under the Misuse of Resources Acts of 2004 and 2009. Milor Cenzelen, otherwise known as the ‘Kahuna’ was charged today with miuse of resources leading to unethical business behaviour. Most crimes under this act would be addressed as civil matters, but the Lower Federal Courts noted the that the ‘malignant’ behaviour that the defendant has and will have into the future meant that this case would be better handled in the criminal system. Judge Selare sentenced him to three years, with a non parole period of six months. The Upper Federal Court suspended Retren’s northern seas operations effective immediately and the business has been refered to the Collective Court of Ainslie, with the Federal Court requesting the Electoral Council to begin an inquiry.

Deputy Prime Minister Wilton today expressed his disgust towards the actions, stating that

“Ainslie has actively worked against whaling businesses and the fact that one has been operating under the Ahnslen flag de facto is disturbing, and frankly embarassing. Despite this, I am confident that the courts will address this issue in its entirety. Never does Ainslie want to be associated with whaling.”

In her closing remarks, Judge April Selare stated that
“the acts the defendant has participated in are horrifying and have threatened the outstanding reputation of Ahnslen business worldwide. We cannot watch people like this walk around freely knowing that justice has not been served to them. Mr Cenzelen has shown no remorse, and a willingness to do it again if and when he could.”

Judge Selare also referred ‘Retren’ to the Collective Court of Ainslie, stating that previous cases in the electoral system have not done enough. Selare also banned Cenzelen from working in any animal related industries.

It is becoming clear that Ainslie is a strict upholder of environmental law, even more so now following this particularly harsh sentence which will now serve as a precedent. It appears that the Judiciary is frantically trying to distance themselves from their conduct in the conservative times of Ainslie, where environmental law was seen as second rate and of less concern. Recently is possibly the beginning of change.

INTERNATIONAL: Norland Police detain Samuderan Social Welfare Minister
Arborai, Ainslie

Norland Police this morning confirmed that a minister subject to public inquiry in Samudera had been caught at Arborai Harbour today, as he was trying to cross the sea. Jacob Zenen, Chief of Norland Police today stated that “they will work with their Samuderan allies” and they “applaud the stance to corruption that the nation’s institutions have taken”. In a statement this morning, he also commented on the event in a more specific manner.

“Raka Buminingrat, the suspended Social Welfare Minister of Samudera is currently in our custody following his attempted escape to nations north of Ainslie but we are still not sure which nation he was seeking to go to. We will work with our friends in Samudera and arrangements have been made for his extradition. We are waiting for the police to question him in relation to other matters and we expect him back in Samudera by week’s end.”

Prime Minister Kenzai noted that this was “an example of how bilateral relations achieve justice for the parties involved.” He [;aced his support behind Chief Zenen, and thanked him for his work around this scenario amongst other previous matters. The Electoral Representative today also joined in support with Kenzai, noting that Zenen on many occasions has brought swift and just outcomes for society and brought people off the street who needed to be.

The Samuderan Ambassador to Ainslie today said he would travel to Arborai, explaining that he is “eager” to meet with the minister and escort him back to Samudera.

Prime Minister Gais Announce New Defense Agreement with Corindia

Image
Prime Minister Gais greeting Corindian business leaders at Agreement Signing Ceremony

On his final visit of his eastern tour, Prime Minister Crassus Gais yesterday met with military leaders and influential defense contractors to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to usher in a new defense agreement between the two countries. At the signing ceremony Prime Minister Gais announced that the agreement would see Corindian defense contractors becoming a critical partner in Covonant's Military Industrial Complex.

The Government of Covonant has come to a conscientious agreement to see our turning a new chapter in how we deal with production and procurement of military equipment. Covonant historically has not been a country that can boast of having a large arms industry. Today my government wants to see that change. With the agreement signed today between both Covonant and Corindia will be in line to agreements signed between Covonant and Noronica, and Covonant and Athara Magarat.

The agreement expressed by Prime Minister Gais will see Corindian contractors being the main arms suppliers to the Union of Covonant Government (UCG). The agreement also focused on the provision of jobs for Covonantian citizens.

Selected Corindian Defense Contractors (SCDC) will with consulted effect (through the Defense Ministry and Foreign Ministry) will assume the roles as becoming the main arms dealer to the UCG. This agreement extends further similar to our agreements with the Selected Noronican Defense Contractors (SNDC) in this case being Hunters Defence System and the Selected Athara Magarati Defense Contractors (SAMDC) will see the establishment of a major production plant in a zone to be stated later on as well as a national office that would act as a liaison between the Covonantian Government and the SCDC. The Covonantian Government has stressed throughout this agreement our intent on having roughly 35% of Covonantian citizens employed in the facilities as well as full access from the Ministry of Business, Energy, Science, and Technology (MBEST) to inspect and verify requested equipment.

The agreement is expected to be in effect on January 1, 2018. The agreement between Corindian follows the same stipulations to agreement had between Covonant and Noronica, and Athara Magarat. The government claims the agreement allows for revenues spent on military equipment to be reduced as cost for research and development are cut as well as production. The Prime Minister however expressed that to reduce instance of faulty equipment the MBEST and government approved regulators will ensure that production is of high quality for Covonantian use. Prime Minister Gais returned back to Coventry late yesterday evening.

Leader of Taurot National Assembly Signs Arun Valley Protocol;Minister of Community:Document under Revision

Ziaork Cronas

The Leader of the Taurotian National Assembly Ziaork Cronas is today announcing the ratification of the Arun Valley Protocol, a document that outlines stipulations government are to upheld in their interaction and treatment towards the indigenous groups of the respective country. The Arun Valley Protocol drafted by Athara Magaratis has been criticised by the Covonantian Government as being too impractical and oversteps local laws. Ziaork Cronas however calls that reasoning unacceptable.

For far too long we have been neglected and sidelined by successive governments. We have been the most marginalised and disenfranchised groups in the land we claimed first. There is no secret that Taurotians are likely to be discriminated against, to be prevented employment on the basis of race and are a minority in the society yet still most Taurotian schools have watered-down educational system and high incarceration rates. This protocol that we wholeheartedly support will be the means at which we engage with the society and the government and demand meaningful change. The media likes to portray Covonant as a welcoming place but some of its own citizens feel unwelcome in their own country

Mr. Cronas expressed that the Assembly will be meeting with local government representatives and may carry the government to the Supreme Court for what he views as breaches to the rights of the indigenous group.

We want to have a dialogue with the government on this. They can't just push it aside because to do that is to imply or state indirectly that our problems are not their concern but I say to them that it is because we vote to and you are our political representatives and we are calling on the Members of the Consul who we voted for to see this Protocol implemented. Enough is enough. We have suffered far too long and we are demanding change for the better, and if they fail to implement it we will not relent to seek recourse through the Supreme Court.

Minister of Community and Local Government Metila Lucia expressed that the government is reviewing the Arun Valley Protocol but notes that its encroaching stipulations on Covonantian laws may already see it defeated before reaching the Senate for a senatorial debate.

Image
Minister of Community and Local Government, Metila Lucia

Covonant has made great strides in how the treatment and recognition of indigenous groups are met. We still have areas to make improvements but we are far from the worst. The government agrees with some aspects of the Protocol and in meeting with the Taurot Hang it will be raised on what areas we see challenging to agree to as there would most certainly be conflict with federal laws. The Protocol in its current nature cannot be sent to the Consul because it would be defeated in the lower house before even reaching the senate and there is no telling if the Executive (the Prime Minister) may even agree to it as being a law for the President to give it assent. There will definitely be more consultations and discussions on this Protocol and the Ministry of Community is reviewing it as we speak

The Minister expressed that once more information and clarity has been raised on the document, the Ministry will release its updated response.

DO REMEMBER THIS IS THE CBC

A student, Chandra Wanuba, 17, died from multiple stab wounds after a brawl broke out in Rajelai, Enerah on Wednesday afternoon

ENERAH, Kabar Sahari - A child protection commission urged the city administration on Friday to put an end to a cycle of violence among students, the latest outbreak of which claimed a life.

A student, Chandra Wanuba, 17, died from multiple stab wounds after a brawl broke out in Rajelai, Enerah on Thursday afternoon.

Samuderan Child Protection Commission (KPAS) commissioner Rika Indriaswari said the Enerah Education Agency should immediacy move to facilitate reconciliation between the schools involved in the brawl, “so students will not keep retaliating.”

Enerah Police chief Comr. Sukateja said on Wednesday that the student brawl happened in front of Lentena Market at around 4 p.m.

“The victim was found with multiple stab wounds by a witness, Aditya, 17,” he said.

The victim was brought to Eka Tunggal Hospital in Sentralai. However, he died on the way to the hospital.

The police said his body had been taken to the Enerah Police Hospital for an autopsy. “We will question witnesses of this incident and we are still pursuing the perpetrators," Sukateja said.

Charters & State Visits

Parliament has reached a decision on the controversial Arun Valley Protocol. The protocol, which helps ensures the rights of native minorities, has been criticized for infringing upon a nation’s sovereignty. Furthermore, some believe it to elevate native citizens over that of non-natives, effectively making non-natives “second class citizens”. The Xrevaran Parliament has decided to sign the charter but ensures that it will not allow the discrimination of non-natives.

In economic news, Queen Pavoti has recently embarked on a diplomatic visit to Verona Beach and Ahnslen PM Kenzai has come to Zenrolo. The visit to Verona Beach is to stimulate better economic cooperation between the two nations. The visit is set to take place in within the following week. The state visit between PM Kenzai and House Speaker Wilqas Un-Kiwa will also be focusing on economic relations between the two nations. The State visit will be ending with a press conference later this evening, local time.

INTERNATIONAL: Kenzai visits Xrevaro
Zenrolo, Xrevaro

In what is the second visit to Xrevaro by the Ahnslen government this year, PM Kenzai began his diplomatic tour of Argus by speaking at the Xrevaran Parliament, visiting soldiers at ERB Highstar and announcing new development initiatives. Today, he held a joint press conference in Zenrolo with the leader of the Parliament, Wilqas Un-Kinwa to unveil these initiatives.

“Ainslie stands with Xrevaro. We know the struggles of recovering from national disasters, and we have heard your calls. We believe and hope that what we give you today can help the Xreveran people get back onto their feet and be able to make a difference in their communities, in their governments, in their nations and in the world.”

He turned towards Un-Kinwa and nodded, as he continued
“We are committed to the development of local industry alongside disaster management to prevent future events like this. We shall provide technical support to industries and universities will give scholarships for Xrevaran farmers to retrain if necessary, to lower structural unemployment. We shall deploy 300 additional personnel to Emergency Response Base highstar in order to train emergency services in community involvement and engagement. In addition to this, we will send government endorsed training staff in order to teach local personnel as well as Ahnslen deployed personnel in disaster mitigation and proactive disaster management.”

This marks another significant investment by Ainslie into another nation, and that trend appears to be a major undertone of recent diplomatic encounters. What remains to be seen is who benefits and whether it results in better standards of living and quality of life for the people it effects.

Arun Valley Protocol more successful than imagined: Jrm Hangma

Image
Jrm Hangma tells Athara Magaratis to be proud of the Arun Valley Protocol's success.

NEW LIBANG

Two days ago in December 1st, the government of Athara Magarat sent the 50 members of the Divan-i-Magarati to a different Isles nation each. To the surprise of even the Athara Magaratis, more nations have ratified the Isles Indigenous and Tribal Peoples Charter or Arun Valley Protocol (read more here), an international charter dedicated to rights of indigenous and tribal peoples across the Isles, than the number anticipated. On Saturday evening, the Mahang of the Demokratik Kuunsrach Jyoti Thapa aka Jrm Hangma herself gave a press conference on the Arun Valley Protocol.

"By the grace of Allah and the hard of the members of the Divan-i-Magarati, more nations have agreed to sign the Arun Valley Protocol than we honestly expected. And we are sure that this number will rise by the end of the week." Jrm Hangma said and added that Athara Magaratis had every right to be proud that the charter was much more successful than imagined.

But only 1/5th of the Isles nations have signed it so far. And most governments across the Isles are neutral at the moment about the charter and in "wait and see" process. On the other spectrum, some nations have harshly criticized the charter as overstepping national regulations.

Townside was the first nation other than Athara Magarat to speak of the Arun Valley Protocol. Townsider authorities declared beforehand that Cross Hang (the Divan member sent to their nation) would find no success in Townside for the charter was "degrading" to the dignity of the Ipachi Townsiders.

Image
Ziaork Cronas, the Leader of the Taurotian National Assembly.

Covonant's Minister of Community and Local Government, Metila Lucia, meanwhile stated that her government was still reviewing the charter's articles thoroughly. On the other hand the Leader of the Taurotian National Assembly, Ziaork Cronas, had announced that Taurotian people would sign the charter for rights of his people whether the Covonantian government sign it or not. The Divan member sent to Covonant, Taurot Hang, is reported to have sought permission with CBC TWI to talk more in detail about the Arun Valley Protocol and meet several Covonantian ministers and Taurotian representatives to convince them to ratify the charter as soon as possible.

The government of Xrevaro, who were notified of the Arun Valley Protocol by Divan member Meohang Hang, became the first state to openly admit ratification of the indigenous and tribal people's rights charter. The Xrevaran Parliament stated that though it had signed the charter, it will not allow any discrimination to come to the non-natives.

Dya:hi Hangma's journey to Ipland and Madhuvas Hang's journey to Verona Beach were also fruitful as the two nations became the first Cooperative Union members to sign the charter while Shakya Kumari Hangma reported that the Samuderan government will announce the ratification of the charter soon.

Though it has not been confirmed yet, Jebe Thulung Hang who was sent to the EUSR, suggested that the answers were positive from EUSR leaders.

In Domanania, Vec Hangma and tribal leaders's pressure has made the government agree that the Arun Valley Protocol is in accordance to the Doman Constitution and would be ratified. While Garbuja Hang said in a telephone conversation with the Herald that the Verdonian government was in support of the entire charter except for Article 14. But Garbuja Hang is certain that Verdon will join the ratification group as well. The Article 14 of the Arun Valley Protocol states;

Article 14

1. The rights of ownership and possession of the peoples concerned over the lands which they traditionally occupy shall be recognised. In addition, measures shall be taken in appropriate cases to safeguard the right of the peoples concerned to use lands not exclusively occupied by them, but to which they have traditionally had access for their subsistence and traditional activities. Particular attention shall be paid to the situation of nomadic peoples and shifting cultivators in this respect.

2. Governments shall take steps as necessary to identify the lands which the peoples concerned traditionally occupy, and to guarantee effective protection of their rights of ownership and possession.

3. Adequate procedures shall be established within the national legal system to resolve land claims by the peoples concerned.

Image
Predominately animist, Buddhist or Whindist Athara Magarati government run by a Muslim Hangma has found an unlikely ally in the Catholic Church of San Jimenez.

To the surprise of many, the leaders of San Jimenez welcomed Camaica Hu Hangma warmly. She has been scheduled to meet with both President Lucas Canone and the Head of the Catholic Church of San Jimenez. It has been speculated that Camaica Hu Hangma will talk not only about the charter but engage in inter-faith conversations in San Jimenez whose 98.34% citizens are Catholic in sharp contrast to Athara Magarat where Catholics are a minority among the Christian minority (most Athara Magarati Christians are Whindist or syncretics).

It has been also stated that like the Taurots of Covonant, the Lortiks of Belle Ilse en Terre, the Iza of Corindia, the Kaelectian of Dormill and Stiura and the Katharans of Segentova may send their own representatives to sign the charter as their governments are unlikely to recognize the Arun Valley Protocol; stated Acharya Hangma from Belle Ilse en Terre, Sikurima Hangma from Corindia, Henderson Hang from Dormill and Stiura and Khorja Hang from Segentova respectively in telephone conversations with the Herald.

Mahang Jrm Hangma ended her press conference with the hopes once again that more nations would ratify the Arun Valley Protocol by the end of the week.

Mob Storms Military Base Tern on Illa Isle; Congress Reacts to Demands Including Signing of Arun Valley Protocol

This morning, an organized conglomeration of more than 5,000 Vancouvians stormed Base Tern, a military base north of Illa Isle's largest city, Westilla. Throughout the morning, their numbers have swollen, with estimates now that over 20,000 are in protest in or around Westilla. Much of the city has been forced to shut down, with both the roads and rail-lines occupied by marching protestors. Several counts of vandalism have been reported, and firefighters have been unable to reach over three dozen fires in Westilla alone.

Base Tern, which has an estimated garrison of several thousand Vancouvian soldiers, along with a detachment of Osters and Noronnicans (per ARRF), has been effectively cutoff from all supplies and will likely need to be airlifted food and medicine within the coming days. Trinity Hospital, located within the base's grounds, is Illa's largest hospital, and also been cut off in the process, endangering over a thousand patients and medical personnel inside.

The protestors, who utilized social media platforms, including, ironically, VOICE, to organize over the preceding days, were able to completely overwhelm initial attempts to disperse them. Police have reportedly fallen back to either the base or their precincts, unable to safely traverse the streets. Commenters are comparing this incident with the historic 1799 march on Vaenhall, which was able to be quelled with relatively little violence.

The mob has filed suit against Congress, demanding amongst other things, the complete and immediate signing of the Arun Valley Protocol, which Congress had yet to comment on. However, after this morning's events, Congress has released a statement that the protocol will not be signed following a vote that turned down the protocol almost unanimously. Horatio Macaro, the only Senator from Illa Isle, elected in 2015, was the sole Senator to vote in support. Major concerns of Congress were the "effectively unequal provisions" that would be implemented in a wide scope of national issues. Another argument was that Vancouvia is essentially unique in that there are no indigenous people groups in Vancouvia, and if there were, they would be sufficiently represented in the Vancouvian Congress.

With no signs of the mob dying down, and with stern orders for the military not to utilize excessive force to disperse the crowds from Westilla, the situation looks to be in a relative stalemate. As of now, a thin series of fences separate the mob from countless military supplies being stored at Tern. Congress has issued an Emergency Alert and will welcome any aid that neighboring nations in the Argean and Eterna seas can provide.

BNC: The News You Can Trust!

Victory Day Preparations Finish!

Dec 4th, 2017

Boris Zorić, The Director of the Board of Interior Affairs announced the prepartions of the annual Balniki Victory Day events, parades, and festivities nationwide in a press conference that took place in Horseshoe Square, a plaza that shares it's name with the famous Balniki civil war the the Victory Day commemorates. In the conference Mr. Zorić touched on a number of concerns and questions from various sources. However the main concern among the crowd was that of extreme Communist threat, with weapon caches and subversive activities nearly tripiling from previous years. In response to the concerns Mr. Zorić stated this. "We are well aware of the threats that the Communists may pose to disrupting our annual celebrations of the end of the war and their defeat, However it is that our servicemen stay vigilant and fulfill their duties to the utmost importance. Although we have found multiple weapons and plots in the year to disprut the Balniki people and their way of life, None have been properly executed and most prevented by the sheer courage of our defense forces and intelligence agencies working hand and hand to protect our nation." Afterwards Mr. Zorić announced that the parades would feature some brand new military vehicles that have been kept secret and would soon be unveiled to the public eye.

The annual Balniki Victory Day is a holiday in which all members of the nation pay their respects to those lost in the Horseshoe War, A bloody civil war that left the ruling communists in a horrible and shattering defeat. The war started in 1979 where the honorable Dovesti Chernobog with only a military colonel in the city of Maskreath. Disgusted with the corruption and poor leadership of the country the colonel decided to gain support for a coup that would launch the allied National Socialist party into power in promise of change. The coup failed miserably and Chernobog and much of the party was jailed. Two months later fighting erupted in the north where Communist forces were seldom seen. Glorious Chernobog was secretly relaying orders for the party to gather a following in the north and launch a revolution from there. The Natsocs gained a significant following over the two years and soon invaded Rustov, collapsing the communist rule and freeing Chernobog. Shortly after he was appointed head of the party and began to reconstruct our glorious country to what it is today.

INTERNATIONAL: Judicial Council rejects Arun Valley Protocol
Arnton, Ainslie

Recently, the Ahnslen Senate referred the “Isles Indigenous and Tribal Peoples Charter” to the Judicial Council. The Senate acknowledged how controversial this bill was, but that was not particularly the issue regarding the document. Before the Senate viewed a bill which would ascend this into law, they sought the approval of the Judicial Council, the legal experts of the nation.

It is not essential for the Senate to refer international documents to the Judicial Council for their approval, but in this particularly controversial case it was “necessary to examine the suitability and legality of the document against Ahnslen law and against the wider interests of Ahnslens”. The Speaker’s words essentially summed up the general environment of the Senate according to DPM Wilton, who said the situation was “tense” as they agreed to send the document to the Judicial Council.

Today, JR Shirazi, spokesman and representative for the Judicial Council held an extraordinary speech about the international treaty which was the core of the morning news cycle.”

“Good morning Ahnslens. On recommendation of the Ahnslen Senate, we have examined the Arun Valley Protocol and have discussed our findings with the legislature. The Senate and the Judicial Council are in agreement on this matter. We will not sign such a divisive, discriminatory, narrow minded agreement such as the one that sits before us.

Under the definition that is provided, at least 75% of Ahnslens are regarded as being part of these groups, whether they be Arnish, Welling, Ipachi/Irachi or anything else. This document stipulates that indigenous people are naturally disadvantaged. The grand story of Ahnslen history stands against this idea - we are no lesser culture that needs to be given cash handouts, extra rights and equal representation for our voices to be heard. Our nation is inclusive, it is a beacon of light and a tale of what happens when there is consistent, careful and moderate governance. The mistakes of past governments need to be reversed, but no international document will create transformative change of that nature to a majority of these groups. This document is one or both of the following.

It is a sympathy accord, designed to try and elevate and attempt to correct national problems at an international level or;
A dangerous agreement which establishes a concerning trend in the Isles.

This agreement is a form of positive discrimination. Whether positive or negative, discrimination is discrimination under the eyes of the law of this land. We cannot speak for other governments on this matter but here in Ainslie we judge people based on their merits, not whatever colour, creed or belief they have. This is relevant to government, law, culture and industry, even beyond that. Ainslie does not stand for discrimination.

We are greatly disappointed that our CU friend would propose such an agreement. We will certainly reject this offer as it goes against much of what Ainslie has, does and will stand for”

Deputy Prime Minister Wilton has organised a holiday for the visiting delegate from Athara Magarat, stating that “it is unfortunate that he has been caught up in this, and in no way do we want to shoot the messenger.” Deputy PM Wilton confirmed that the delegate will spend the rest of the week relaxing at the Prime Minister’s holiday residence in Highland Ridge before returning to New Libang. Wilton also expressed how he does not want this protocol to damage the relationship between the two nations unnecessarily.

The delegate will now relax at the Prime Minister’s holiday residence in Highland Ridge for a few days before returning back to New Libang towards the end of this week.

The dilemma of indigenous rights
Image

KABAR SAHARI - 04/12/2017, 09:42

Ghantar Tribes, one of the ‘forest-dweller’ tribes in Samudera

SRIPURA, Kabar Sahari - Minister of Interior Kenny Bulukambang has accepted the visit of Shakya Kumari Hangma, a delegate from Athara Magarat , to Samudera, last friday the 1st of December. The visit has been prompted by the Athara Magarati government’s decision to invite nations to sign the controversial Arun Valley Protocol.

The Protocol will dictate the government’s treatment of indigenous people and the ensuring of additional rights. Many people in the government are against the protocol, mainly because they feel that the treatment of indigenous people in Samudera is already fair and equal.

One of the most prominent critics of the Arun Valley Protocol is the biggest party in Samudera, SCGAD. Indra Martadinata, Chairman of SCGAD, revealed this in an exclusive interview with Kabar Sahari yesterday.

The definition of ‘indigenous people’ here is a problematic definition. There is equality in the eyes of the law, and ultimately in everyone’s view. Why should such a small group of people be excluded and placed in a higher position than fellow countrymen under the law? This is insane. All Samuderans are entitled to their homeland, not just a small group of people.

Technically, the government does not have a definition of ‘indigenous people’, since most Samuderans are referred to as indigenous people. Some have been embracing modern technology whilst others have rejected this. Cases like these are problematic as in the past the socialist government forces these tribes to be ‘modernised’, citing the government’s role to give ‘equal education and welfare’ to citizens in the nation. After the Reformation, many of them were allowed to resume their original way of life.

The question is, does the government give them fair treatment like every other Samuderan citizen by letting them to live on the forests?

Many different cultures in Samudera are disappearing, mainly because of assimilation and acculturation. The government has been pushing to include ‘Cultural Education’ into the national curriculum, in effort to preserve many diverse culture, though so far it is still proved to be ineffective.

“The problem has always been money, and of course, corruption. No matter how much effort is allocated to preserve the diverse cultures of Samudera, as it would be halted by the massive and widespread corruption and collusion in here,” said some sources in the government position that want to stay anonymous.

It’s a dilemma for sure. There are many problems regarding the treatment of some tribes in Samudera, but many agreed that Arun Valley Protocol isn’t the solution to the problem, but it will create many problems in the future if it were to be ratified. The President himself has stated he supported the Protocol, though it will certainly face heavy opposition once it enters the Federal Council. Currently, the Protocol has been put into consideration and will be reviewed soon.

On the other news, Minister of Foreign Affairs are scheduled to depart for Torom tomorrow in effort to strengthen both nation’s relationships.

Suomian Congress signs the Arun Valley Protocol

Yesterday the Suomian Congress signed the Arun Valley Protocol, the controversial bill that states that the Indiginous Peoples of The Isles should have equal rights to all other people of The Isles . Many nations criticized the bill as it has a section stating that the Indigenous Peoples should be allowed to occupy their traditional land, which nations thought infringed on their sovereignty. However the Suomian Congress has signed it, stating that it is an important stepping stone to equality for all, as Jeyzor’s catchphrase goes.

Queen Patovi I waving to reporters after landing in Verona Beach.
Xrevaran Queen Arrives in VB, Arun Valley Protocol Signed

Verona Beach The Queen of Xrevaro has arrived in Verona Beach to the thunderous greeting of the public and the press pool, before being escorted to Government House to meet with the Chief Minister. On her way, she took the "scenic route" through Capulet Park, around the beach, and through the city center accompanied by much pomp and circumstance with a welcome fit for a royal like herself. The meeting is reportedly about fostering greater economic cooperation, but the full extent of what will be discussed at the meeting will be vast and unreleased to the public. One can infer, however, that the war against San Montagna and the Drug War will certainly be topics of discussion. CM Roland Markwardt before the meeting stated, "I look forward to Her Majesty, the Queen of the United People of Xrevaro, arriving in our humble nation so that we can begin work on strengthening the already solid bond between our nation and hers."

In other news, Verona Beach signed the Isles Indigenous and Tribal Peoples Charter, commonly called the Arun Valley Protocol, timed suspiciously close to the protocol being signed by the Xrevaran delegation. The protocol has been controversial in the Isles due to its sweeping protections placed upon indigenous peoples. Markwardt, likely trying to remove stains on the reputation of the national government left over from the Red Tarmac Era, signed the protocol eagerly and in full, an action that has stirred much criticism from policy advisers and critics. The Protocol will most likely also be a topic of discussion during Queen Patovi I's visit to the nation. Further news will be provided when available.

Internationally, a Protocol to support indigenous peoples of every nation in the Western Isles gained media attention worldwide for its controversial nature and positive discrimination for natives of the lands in the nation. Though the Imperial State was not contacted due to its numerous travel restrictions preventing outside influence, the Protocol rose some questions within the Imperial government as to how descendants of immigrants from before the closing of the borders should be treated.

The Empress has not made a formal statement as to the decision, but the Head of the Department of Equality, Kline Pastka, stated that there would be no changes to the government system. Positive discrimination and negative discrimination are equal and both thoroughly discouraged by the state. If you or someone you know is being harassed for your ancestry, native or immigrant, contact a local state police agency and report the problem.

The Imperial State is also allowing visitors to the Poysk State News Center in the coming weeks to listen to complaints and suggestions from you, the people.

C6 Declares Victory Over Myagdi Island; Opens Island to Humanitarian Effort

Image

The Coalition of Six (C6) has declared victory over the long fought battle for Myagdi Island with the invading forces from San Montagna. In a press release outside of the C6 headquarters in Coventry, Secretary General of the C6 Keith Richards expressed joy at announcing the Coalition's victory.

I can proudly declare that the C6 forces have been the victors in the long fought battle over Myagdi Island. It had been weeks of troops fighting and both sides have endured casualties that we can say are extremely high. A total estimate however has not been produced but we expect a very high amount

Mr. Richards notes that the battle has been the worst war that the Mesder as witnessed in recent years with a high civilian casualty and destruction to property worth in the billions.

Myagdi Island is in a state of despair and one could argue the image of a island that's infrastructure and economy is totally destroyed. This is the worst we have seen in many years in terms of destruction and lost to life and property and it will take a collective effort to rebuild Myagdi and to assist the Athara Magarati government.

The C6 Secretary General is calling on respectable nations of the Isle to join in the rebuilding efforts of Myagdi. He notes a regional effort will be needed in this venture.

We have opened the airports to countries that are bringing in supplies. Air travel is still out of service. Right now critical supplies such as food and water and clothing is essential. Building materials as well is greatly needed as major construction work will need to get done. Medical supplies as well is critical as we have one major hospital presently in operation under heavy C6 surveillance but it cannot presently undertake the massive health care needed on the island

He notes that while a refugee crisis is not seen to be imminent he raised concerns of the outbreak of diseases.

We can't see a refuge crisis forming as most residents on Myagdi are already looking to relocate to mainland Athara Magarat or to another CU state but what we are concerne s about is the outbreak of deadly diseases being rampant in the island. We have a lot of corpse presently still on the island where we are looking to carry out the burning of the bodies as well as some depending on the troops will be buried in a solemn ceremony but we have to be cognizant that room for diseases are present.

He is calling once more for countries to get involved.

This is the time countries around the region needs to answer to the call and lend support. Covonant through the UCAID and Covish Cares and the Union of Covonant Government has already put plans in place to assist and we await for their announcing on what they intend to do. The CU as well should as a unit assist it's fallen member state. The Athara Magarati government will too see how best it can assist it's own residents but the task is heavy and it would take a united effort to rebuild the economic hub of Athara Magarat and we expect that this should have major effects on the economy of Athara Magarat which the CU will have to look into rescuing as it may affect other CU states economy as well

Mr. Richards notes that while the C6 forces have reclaimed Myagdi, San Montagnan forces are retreating from Arun Valley.

DO REMEMBER THIS IS THE CBC

Siege of Military Base Shows No Signs of Stopping

This siege of Base Tern on Illa Isle has been present for over two days now, with many wondering how the situation can possibly reach a peaceful end. On Sunday, a mob surrounded Base Tern on the outskirts of Westilla and demanded the signing of the pro-indigenous Arun Valley Protocol, which Congress subsequently shot down in a virtually unanimous vote. Serving to further enrage the crowds, their numbers have swelled, with estimates that roughly one-fourth of the entire population of Illa Isle is participating in some capacity in the demonstrations.

Although the population of the crowds have grown, the danger seemingly has died down, as the police force, supplemented by VSF soldiers transported in from the mainland overnight, have regained control of most of Westilla. However, the reinforcements have so far not attempted to force the crowds from the base's perimeter.

Trinity Hospital, still cut off from access roads and rail, has been receiving medical supplies and volunteer doctors and nursing staff via helicopter since Sunday. However, officials worry that the situation is untenable.

"We can't keep going like this, airlifting supplies and staff in and out," said Assistant Director Sawyer Coohill. "We need to be able to transport patients to and from the rest of the island without relying on dangerous and unsanitary military helicopters."

Skirmishes have already occurred between civilians and base staff during the siege. Protestors have thrown fireworks, paint, rocks, and other objects at patrolling soldiers, who have so far been ordered to stand down. There have also been several fights between civilian groups as infrastructure on the island begins to break down.

The protestors, especially a sizable contingent of Athara Magarat immigrants and native Illa Islanders, have signed the Arun Valley Protocol as individuals, with so far over 130,000 Vancouvian signatures attained online. Leadership in the group has continued to demand that the Vancouvian government sign the document, although that would be an extremely unlikely outcome.

Supervisors Reject Arun Valley Protocol
As of yesterday afternoon, Supervisor Christopher Lavir announced that Torom will not be part of the Arun Valley Protocol, Athara Magarat's grand diplomatic project to protect the rights of indigenous peoples across the Isles. He said,"Torom has no need for such policies. For many many years, Torom has been known for foreigners and natives living together with little incident. We'd like to thank Sunni Hangma for being so kind to us during her visit but we have no each other choice to decline her offer."

Not long after, protesters have gathered in front of the Council building after the announcement. Many, including those of not native descent implore the government to implement the Protocol, while some seem to rebuke the government as a whole. Police are already preparing if worse comes to worse and are trying to make way to get the government staff out from the building, but the protest still remains strong.

Samuderan Visit to Torom Conclusion
Last Tuesday, Samuderan Foriegn Minister Cahyadi Kunakara visited Torom to initiate talks with President Anton Hemvina while the Supervisors meet with Sunni Hangma. Their talks have just conluded and Cayhadi Kunakara is leaving soon. According to Hemvina, Torom will invest in Samudera's green energy sector to help combat the global issue of climate change, and those holding Samuderan and Toromish passports will no longer need a visa to travel to each country. Lower tariffs as well will be established between trade of both countries and future plans for full free trade between the countries are being outlined.

The President said,"Samudera and Torom have had pretty close relations for some time and with the results of our talks, Torom and Samudera may cooperate more in the future and maybe we will reach out to other nations close to us. Until then, we'll help Samudera and continue to do so. We plan to initiate visits as well sometime soon to other nations, we are still unsure however of our plans."

Jrm Hangma and the state of affairs

Image
Jrm Hangma, agrees that Athara Magarat will not be involved in war henceforth.

NEW LIBANG

After the deadline allocated for the signing of the Arun Valley Protocol arrived, the members of the Divan-i-Magarati have been called back to New Libang. Although only 10 nations ratified the charter on rights of indigenous and tribal peoples, it was more successful than what Mahang of the Demoktraik Kuunsrach Jrm Hangma herself had expected. She revealed the "other reason" why the Divan members had been sent to the foreign nations.

"The other reason was a to test the diplomatic potential and convincing capabilities of the Divan members." Jrm Hangma told news reporters after thanking all the nations who ratified the charter and the members of the Divan. "The ten who managed to show their skills that a leader must need: Vec Hangma, Dya:hi Hangma, Jebe Thulung Hang, Achham Hang, Gomez Hangma, Shakya Kumari Hangma, Camaica Hu Hangma, Madhuvas Hang, Garbuja Hang and Meohang Hang, shall get to command an Àdnachd Class Frigate each which our nation will be buying soon from our allies. And lead the Black Snake Fleet. Instead of just guarding our waters like the Naga-class missile ships in the Black Turtle Fleet we have, this new fleet will be capable of performing many tasks - which will be necessary in the coming days."

Jrm Hangma said that the other forty members of the Divan, all of whom have varying degrees of military experience due to the socialist republic's conscription and were hand-picked by herself on the recommendation of tribal elders, will be given charge of a land-based battalion each. When the reporters asked if the nation was militarizing, she vaguely said yes.

"The recent events have shown that we need to adapt to the times. Yes, our armed forces will stand at 50,000 soon. Each Hang or Hangma at the 50 member Divan will be leader of a battalion. Like true leaders, they will lead us even in times of war...which is unpredictable as we saw."

She also told the press that some of the Divan members will still remain in foreign nations for more days. Bokar Hang sent to Vucari will continue to make fruitful diplomatic with the northern nation. Hyolmo Hangma will remain in Charbagnia for a while to discuss diplomatic solutions and seek release of an Athara Magarati detained on suspicions of being a spy. Camaica Hu Hangma will try to further diplomatic talks with the government and the Catholic Church of San Jimenez on shared visions for peace and stability in the Isles.

Image
Divan Hangma's quote became popular among Athara Magarati citizens.

As soon as returning to the homeland from Agadar, Divan Hangma had said, "Athara Magarat had no enemies. Our nation is not involved in the Occupation of San Montagna. We will forgive; just like the Isles forgived our ancestors."

While a majority of Athara Magarati citizens had supported Divan Hangma (who had apparently had been in contact with the sick Paija Hang, whom Jrm Hangma has replaced as Interim Mahang of Athara Magarat), some military personals and a few citizens as well as politicians berated her as 'a naive pacifist'.

When asked about the incident, Jrm Hangma said that there would be no Athara Magarati soldiers in the occupation of San Montagna which is happening at the moment. But she gave different reasons.

"Our nation needs to recover and rebuild. We can't waste any precious moment of time. Specially when our C6 allies can do that for us. For the next many months or even years to come, our nation will try to raise and support a 50,000 strong modern army. For that our economy has to be strong. Currently the CU and some other friendly nations have offered us loans. We can't go around occupying foreign territories while asking for loans (laughs). Our C6 allies and our Vancouvian friends will help us to train that new blood of 50,000 recruits into war machines capable of defeating SHOCK, SOAR and all other who will threaten our nation. Yes, Vancouvian soldiers and C6 forces will remain in Athara Magarat for certain time, maybe a year, until we can raise that army. And also...San Montagna is not our goal. It never was. The Athara Magarati goal is SHOCK, SOAR, Kachee and the EUSR...no matter the odds stacked upon us."

When asked about the situation in Atnaia and possibility of Athara Magaratis of Merritian Atish descent revolting, Jrm Hangma replied it was another reason why Athara Magarati army was needed at home than occupying foreign lands.

"Atnaia is a sovereign nation. Their problems are their problems. They are a power capable handling such problems by themselves. The Commonwealth is not a military alliance. And there is no treaty binding us to interfere in internal affairs of Atnaia. We are sure the Hegemon will sort out the mess quickly. We have more pressing issues to focus on home than worrying about Atnaia or San Montagna. The Ticking Flu is there. SHOCK and SOAR are out there. The families and victims have to recover from the psychological scars of war. Our economy, our cities and towns have to be brought back to life. And we have to raise a modern army while preserving the values set by my predecessor Paija Hang the benevolent."

Exotic Bird Thief Caught Trying to Sell Back to Store Owner

After a rather perplexing robbery at the Elohara Breedery on the outskirts of the city of Himara, the alleged suspect returned mere days later with some of the stolen contraband. Hanako Esa, 24, was taken in by authorities Wednesday afternoon and could be facing charges of larceny, second degree theft with intent to sell, as well as facing charges for driving a stolen vehicle . According to records, Esa came into the Breedery wearing a bucket on his head and a black garbage bag covering some of his clothing and managed to escape after stuffing 5 of the adult birds located in cages around the shop into a small box before sprinting out the door and driving away in a beat-up red pickup truck that had been stolen from a parking lot 3 blocks away just the day before. Surprisingly, the rather amusing bucket disguise did work well enough to cover his face, and combined with the only video evidence caught on surveillance cameras showing a very grainy picture of the man, law enforcement agents were having a rather difficult time trying to identify the man.

And he would have gotten away with it if it weren't for a shocking display of intelligence and guts.

Esa returned to the very same store he robbed just 2 days later with two of the birds he had stolen. When he went up to the desk with the birds in the cage, the employee working there at the time noticed that the birds in question looked like the ones that had been stolen. While the employee stalled him with questions and small talk, a fellow employee working at the Breederywent outside and alerted the Himara Police Department, who sent a squad car to the store where they proceeded to take Esa into custody. All of the birds have been returned and Esa will appear in court next week.

Eisenbirgean Baseball League Cancelled Forever

Kaiserlug, 9 December 2017.

Director of The Office of Sports and Arts Affairs (TOSA) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Siegfried Siegward, announced this decision on 8 December 2017. Thousands of baseball fans around the principality devastated by the fact not only they cannot watch their favorite team playing, but also the possibility of the dismissal of those teams. This issue is not a new material. At least for the past 12 months, TOSA had been conducting an analysis of the possibility for both outcomes. TOSA believed, the longevity of the Eisenbirgean Baseball League (EBL) is not sustainable enough to hold itself from bankruptcy. The ticket sells for the past 2 years has been significantly decreasing, star players joined the more prestigious league outside the principality, and the youth has lost its interest in baseball.

"They should keep the stadiums, to say the least", said Goswin Aristeo, a fan of Vlissingselt Troopers. In addition to the dismissal of the league and the teams, Siegfried Siegward also announced the closing of the stadiums. Almost all of the principality-owned stadiums are being closed, with exception of the National Baseball Arena at Steffisstadt. Such stadium is said to be transformed into the National Museum of Sports. Meanwhile, the fate of hundreds of ex-baseball players is still unknown.

DOMESTIC: Arnton, Hauton, Highland Ridge set for subzero temperatures
Arnton, Ainslie

Eastern Ainslie is set for a deep freeze over the next week as an earlier-than-normal winter gives way to an extended period of extreme conditions. A strong low is expected to move in from the northeast meeting Wesland and the northern parts of both Burnett and Manning, placing alpine regions of Ainslie in temperatures well below freezing for the next week. The front is expected to come over the Upper Wesland Ranges late on Thursday Evening, with Hauton and Arnton waking up subzero temperatures on Friday. Snow is a possibility in Hauton, with the maximum temperature of 1C. Much of the tablelands, extending from Arnton in the east to Kavar in the west will experience heavy frost with a possibility of snow showers and sleet in higher areas. Highland Ridge is expected to see snow on Saturday, where temperatures will dip to -9 shortly before sunrise. There’s speculation that Arnton will wake up to snow on Saturday with the lowest temperature being -6 in the city. This is cold, but the records lie degrees below this number with the main station, Kiverten recording -9.3.

Chief Meteorologist of the TWI Weather Office today explained the nature and extent of the event.

“It is truly an abnormal event for Ainslie, particularly as the front is somewhat taking a shape similar to a U-turn. Get up to the Wesland Ranges late this week, there will be plenty of snow.”

All seven ski resorts in the Upper Wesland Ranges are preparing for the inbound cold front, with small resorts along the Border Range also following suit.

THE RESORTS

Season Coordinator Jeffrey Calarn from the Norden Resort expressed the readiness of his ski village to our reports today

“Norden truly is the best place to come if you’re planning that last minute getaway. They are forecasting snow in areas lower down, but this is where snow is a certainty. Come join us at Norden, where our local summits just edge above 2,000m ASL.”

Kenaris Airlines expressed the need for people to plan early, as it is likely air services to convenient airports will likely be suspended as the cold front moves through the ranges.

“Southern Alps Airport down at Venterra will likely close on Thursday morning, with Kianara closing at day’s end. We take safety seriously, and we do not want any incidents to happen”.

Meanwhile, smaller domestic carriers have defied Kenaris Airlines’ word of caution, stating that they will fly to both airports for “as long as possible”.

Returning back to the capital, the TWI Weather Office has not forecasted snow - primarily due to the relatively low elevation of Arnton compared to higher places like Hauton.

“If you want to see snow - you’ll want to go above 800m although above 1000m is ideal.”, the office wrote in their statement today.

Whilst there may or may not be snow where you live, it is certainly going to be a cold few days for Ainslie. Make sure you have the coat handy, and stay safe during this abnormal weather occurrence. More will come as it is received..

OSTERS CELEBRATE OSTEHERN ACROSS THE COUNTRY

Today 404 years ago the Oster nobility formally endorsed King Volakh I "The Wise", creating what is considered to this day the founding moment of the Oster nation - the first time all factions and families of the Oster people agreed to form a united kingdom. Ostehern, the day of Ostehaar, was celebrated today across the nation in ceremonies and community gatherings. Prime Minister Dorias is expected to speak this evening at the official government ceremony for Ostehern in Porohare, and President Den Heyes will attend the traditional commemoration event in central Haalban.

'LAND DEAL' INVESTIGATION: RDF FORCED TO RELEASE INFORMATION ON OFF-SHORE ACCOUNTS

Two months into the special investigation concerning alleged corruption in the RDF, more details are coming to light. So far, the Darna committee in-charge of the investigation has not found evidence linking Minister of Defense Dulikh to the affair. However, new material gathered by the committee from RDF offices in Lindastir seemed to suggest that the agency had unreported off-shore accounts in currently unnamed locations contrary to law. Eran Soherger, representing the RDF, said in response that any unreported accounts were not listed as RDF assets but as personal accounts of RDF employees. The full scope of the affair is yet unclear, but we expect to learn more in the next few weeks as the committee steps up its efforts.

FIRST SNOW OF THE SEASON HITS POROHARE

The first snow storm of the season pasted the Porohare District and parts of Haalban hills with up to 60 centimeters on Tuesday. A strong cold front swept across the northern half of the country, ending several weeks of unseasonably warm weather. Temperatures dropped 10-15 degrees centigrade in a matter of hours by the afternoon.

DARNA REJECTS ARUN VALLEY PROTOCOL

Following allies Vancouvia and Ainslie, the Oster parliament had decided to reject the Arun Valley Protocol, calling it "an unnecessary intervention in nations' internal affairs". Minister of Foreign Affairs Elena Brahurer commented on Athara Magarat's "test of diplomatic potential", as Jrm Hangma referred to it, and said that instead of "playing a strange game", the Demoktraik Kuunsrach could have simply called for minister-level talks. Meanwhile on Illa Isle, coordinator for VSF-DFO activities Dehn Si Grohnen expressed his assurance that the Vancouvian authorities would handle the situation. "Our ARRF forces in Base Tern are not in shortage of supplies at the moment," the general said, "but we are keeping an eye on the situation and of course we would assist Vancouvia in regaining control over the area if they would ask us to do so."

2 DFO SOLDIERS AND 7 LOVSKIANS KILLED IN ANOTHER TERRORIST ATTACK IN ROVKA

Nine people, including two Oster soldiers, were killed Tuesday evening in a terrorist attack against an army checkpoint outside the city of Rovka, west Lovsk. According to the DFO spokesman, at 9:35 pm a vehicle coming from the direction of the city slowed down for inspection at the checkpoint. As the soldiers approached a bomb went off, killing both of them and several local Lovskians who were waiting near the checkpoint. Four more soldiers and ten Lovskians were wounded in the attack. So far no group has claimed responsibility. This is the latest in the recent outbreak of violence on the island, after almost two years of Oster control.

ACTIVISTS PROTEST OUTSIDE OF THE ATNAIAN EMBASSY IN POROHARE, DEMAND CUTTING RELATIONS

For the third week in a row, hundreds of Oster peace and human rights activists marched this weekend from Grihnsjvahn Square in northern Porohare towards the Atnaian embassy. The activists arrived at the embassy gates and blocked the road access to the complex, demonstrating against the hegemony, its activities in Merrit Isle, and the debtors' camps. "Cut the crap - cut relations" the protesters shouted, referring to their recent demand that the Oster government would cut its ties with Atnaia. Oster government officials, as well as Atnaian representatives in Ostehaar, refused to comment on these protests, which add another stain to the deteriorating relations between the two nations.

ELA VEHES TO TOUR THE WESTERN ISLES

Oster singer-songwriter Ela Vehes to go on a four-month tour across The Western Isles in 2018, after almost a year of inactivity following the death of her brother. Vehes, a popular rock icon, said that the new tour will focus on new materials she had written since the release of her recent album "Awe" in 2015, but also on well-known hits she loves to play. "This is more of a vacation for me," she said in an interview on Monday, "and I'll be taking my time around each and every location." Specific dates for the tour will be announced by the end of December, and the tour is expected to begin around March, after a shorter two-month tour in Ostehaar.
