Quorum Announce Uranium Subsidies | Hegemon Discusses Deteriorating Relations with Ostehaar | Pjos Vesk's Season-Ending Injury | Hermes Sequel Announced | National Protaex Deployment Complete, "Recovery Can Begin"

ATNAIA

Protaex Deployment Complete

The Ticking Flu Epidemic can finally be said to have reached its end. Representatives of ARK and the NHS have announced that final deployment of Protaex nationwide has been completed, paving the way for complete recovery.

While final numbers have yet to be formalized, official estimations of the impact of the Ticking Flu estimate Atnaian casualties to have reached 1.45 million, with an estimated 3.8 million remaining infected. Protaex is a symptom suppresant, which, in tandem with preexisting vaccinations, will allow those infected with the Flu to live relatively normal lifestyles with consistent application.

Application injectors are being distributed to pharmacies nationwide, and weekly doses will be available for $150. Read more...

Deteriorating Relations with Osters "Saddening" to Hegemon

"I can't begin to elucidate my disappointment."

These are the words Hegemon Tomas Wessich used to explain his opinion on deteriorating relations with long-time allies in Ostehaar. With protestors chanting outside the Atnaian embassy in Ostehaar, the Hegemon has confirmed that his office is currently examining multiple options to deal with the situation.

"We are loathe to sever relations with such an important and long-term friend," the Hegemon said at his address this morning, "but we cannot continue to allow them to scoff at our hard-won sovereignty. The actions that we take to continue the security of our people in a time of unprecedented trial are not theirs to criticize or undermine, and the fact that they are allowing a childish fiction of events become their reality is saddening to me. I have had a long and productive relationship with my Oster friends, and the fact that they would so willingly see pragmatism as butchery is more than disappointing. I still hold out hope for reconciliation, but if this path continues, we will continue to review all options."

What measures may be taken are at this time currently unknown. Public and state sentiment has seen a drastic downturn in support of Atnaian policies over past months, despite former firm support and aid in multiple important endeavors. Politicians in Oster have been fanning the fires of negative public sentiment. Oster critics have been attacking Atnaian internal policy on matters of stability and enforcement, despite continued goodwill efforts from the Quorum and the Hegemon's office. With Ostehaar being one of Atnaia's closest allies, it is at this time assumed that the Hegemon's Office will be courting other nation's to support current efforts in Merrit Isle Circuitory Prefecture. Nuclear Subsidies Announced by Quorum

Amidst continued hostilities in the Merrit Isle Circuitory Prefecture, the Quorum has announced a plan for subsidies to uranium mining and exportation corporations that operate on the Isle.

"Encouraging the economic growth of Merrit Isle into new and important industries is of critical importance to the Hegemonic Quorum," announced Lady Jessika Loswith. "Our foremost concern is returning stability to Merrit Isle, Atnaia and the Mesder region, and to do that we must give the people of Merrit Isle gainful employment to look forward to."

Among the subsidies announced is government support for uranium exports to nations developing their own nuclear power concerns.

"The Quorum wants to show that Atnaia no longer fears the future of safe, clean energy," Loswith said. "The missteps of the Coup and the aristocratic government of the pass will no longer hang over us. We will lead the way to a greener tomorrow and hope the Isles will follow." Read more...

Gladitorial Season Over for Pjos Vesk

Pjos Vesk, a favourite to take home the heavyweight championships in the renewed National Gladiatorial Combat League, has seen this season ended prematurely. While in a bout with Vvilim Migs in Purth-Graje last night, a damaged spear, normally dulled to prevent undue injury in friendly matches, managed to cause severe damage to Vesk's thigh. Vesk was rushed into surgery to fix damage to his femural artery, and is not likely to recover in time for the competitive bouts in February.

"Obviously, I'm very disappointed," said Vesk's indenturement owner, Marsen vich Kelt. "Vesk is a real competitor and it's horrifying to think that a single freak accident was so close to ending his career."

Vesk's training team have announced that they are ready to pick up his training as soon as he is back on his feet, and that he will definitely be ready for the autumn season.

"We hope to have him ready by the Summer Games," said lead trainer Piah Vinetj. "But barring that, nothing will hold Vesk back from the League fights this autumn." Read more...

Inzel Festival 2017 Puts Spotlight on Plurarism

Thannholz, 9 December 2017.

The annual island art festival of Thannholz, Inzel Festival, gets a lukewarm response from all over the country. This year's theme, Thannholz for Diversity, offers various performances in the form of dance, music, painting, sculpture, and even culinary. Hundreds of thousands Eisenbirgean and thousands of tourists from all over the Western Isles are coming to the island of Thannholz, Rivierschot, for attending the event which will last until 13 December 2017. PM Degenhard, even allocated his busy week to fly to Thannholz in order to find the authentic Hafalaab, a traditional Eisenbirgean food whose original version is getting hard to find.

"I'm digging the message that it brings". Said one of the attendees from Fischaven, Helmut Deion. "These days it's hard to even talk about something without getting offended". He added. Although there are a lot of form of arts that one can find in this festival, the majority of the attendees admitted that the music festival is what they looked for. Domestic musicians, such as Lubin Oddone, FERN, Jamaikatown, Jan Junge, and DJ Oko, are lining up for this evening's performance. At 7 PM, musicians from Correnia such as Cambridge and Sons, The Uptown Fiction, WinningScripts, The Frame, ScottPatrol, and OneKingdom, will fill the international stage. The variety of musical genres that the festival offers is also creating demography variety.

Inge Ludwina, a 15-year-old teenager from Rheinstatten, admitted that she took a morning 7 AM ferry with his brother. "What can I say, I'm a die-hard D.A.V fan, this is the least thing that I can do". The Atnatian A-Pop artist will join the rest of the musician from Atnaia, such as Duke of Rap, Char, MaLady and Kis, and Vicj for the midnight stage. It is estimated that hundreds of thousand local and international tourists are yet to come, but the party has really just begun. On the final and the closing night, Ostehaar-based musician Ela Vehes will greet her fans after almost one year of inactivity. On top of that, the famous multinational group AssemBlaze will mark the final performance both of the stage and the festival. The diversity and pluralism that the group has to offer will surely tie and deliver the message of the festival.

Pretender Captured!

The Pretender has finally surrendered, and was locked in the Royal dungeons yesterday. He has been separated from the other noble prisoners, and all peasants captured have been individually drawn, disembowelled, hung, and then quartered. A number of knights have quit the campaign in protest of what they view to be ‘unchristian’ and have rallied around Sir Earwyn, the youngest son of a minor knight from Surrey

]Dormill and Stiuran Ambassador Provokes War

While completely predictable, yet no less outrageous, the League delegate representing Dormill and Stiura’s ultimate intentions has provoked a duel with the esteemed League Ambassador Sir Giles, who admirably warned his opponent of the impending duel, for the representative was demonstrating the lack of sense common to Stiurans. The impudent man proceeded to cowardly throw away the evidence of the challenge, before the very eyes of the Honour he offended. As such, the king has declared that ships registered in or operated from the United Estates and the cargo therein as free if claimed by Ilsans, and has sent three Valenshia class ships to collect such free and available products.

With news coming in about the recent Bell Ilse seizure of any and all Dormill and Stiuran merchant ships in their waters the Gest Administration has reacted with unexpected backlash. After a press meeting last night with the Head of Defense revealed that the government has passed the Maritime Protection Act. This act changes the regulations on all domestic based maritime shipping companies. A full security detail of no less than five on all merchant ships leaving Brovan Waters. The government also released statements calling Bell Ilses seizure "Illegal" and demands that if any Dormill ships are not returned to freedom within a week, trade will be shut off between the country and all assets of Ilsan citizens will be frozen in the country.

While it hasn't been confirmed to be directly linked to this incident. Government documents have been leaked detailing multiple contracts with Brovan based Private Security forces. While most speculate that this is just to use on government sponsored trade ships, other have other ideas that include a retake of Dormill ships.

In other news, documents have been released to the public of images from a intelligence drone passing by Balniki water. The pictures taken at a Balniki port show what looks like a carrier of reasonable size being completed.

Surplus ARs on the market

It is no secret Bravo Rio has one of (if not the) greatest small arms manufacturing industries in the world. And with years of recent development in small arms has seen a surplus of government issue AR15 select fire assault rifles. The Brovan Department of Defense has put up the rifles up for sale to any government entity interested for a discounted price.

Athara Magarati government denounces Atnaia's gladiator games, slavery and the League

Image

NEW LIBANG

"Here, I call for the cessation of every kind of violence in Atnaia right now," Jrm Hangma said after her morning ritual. She expressed hope for a peaceful solution to the "grave crisis" Atnaia is experiencing and which affects all its citizens, "Especially the poorest and most disadvantaged in society. Jackals and coyotes have taken advantage of the Atnaian Workhouse and Indenturement System and Debt Law to make the indent population fight for the sick enjoyment of the rich, despite the nation facing a grave crisis from both the Ticking Flu and the Merrit issue."

The Athara Magarati government has for long had close relations with its former colonizer and maintained a gap where both nations do not privy into each other's matters. Under Jrm Hangma, however the Athara Magarati government has been highly critical of its northeastern neighbor and Commonwealth of the Isles founder. The Atnaian Workhouse and Indenturement System and Debt Law has been the subject of some international controversy for decades.

Indentured servitude or indentured labor in Atnaia is any system of un-free labor under which an employee (indenturee, or indent) is bound by a contract (indenture) to work for a particular employer, for a fixed period of time. The employer is often permitted to assign the labor of an indenturee to a third party. Indenturees usually enter into an indenture for a specific payment or other benefit, or to meet a legal obligation, such as debt bondage. Past Athara Magarati governments had kept silent on the Atnaia workhouse and indenturement system for fear of irking their fellow Commonwealth member, historic ally and major trade partner.

Jrm Hangma's government, a vocal critic of the League, also criticized the League for its short-sighted status in the issue. "Instead of trying to decide how to topple a certain government or how to promote certain biased set of ideology over others, the League should challenge Atnaian government on the issue. This whole system that reeks of and is modern slavery. The government Ostehaar has for rightly denounced Atnaia's short-comings and we will do the same as well."

The government of Athara Magarat also stated that though the Bhikkustani refugee crisis may have "officially-ended" the refugees, across various nations of the Isles and most importantly the 70,000 Bhikkustani citizens still in refugee camps in various Athara Magarati towns, were at the risk of modern slavery and if steps were not taken properly - on the verge of joining the notorious terrorist group SHOCK either voluntarily or forced.

"The desperate people lost everything. Here is an individual who now has no one to call family, trying to survive in a foreign land. The gates are closed, the person is forced to seek shelter in a tiny nation already over-crowded by others like him/her. Then the bombs drop, San Montagna declares war, they try to get to other nations for survival but no - the gates are still closed. 'The refugees crisis? It ended.' 'It didn't happen in my nation - there were no refugees coming here.' Is the answer they are given. And then what? The sister is trafficked into a brothel, the child is begging in the streets, old man dies of sickness in this strange land and the others take up arms. And the hypocrites in the League still accuse of us of hosting terrorist groups without proof without realizing the bitter truth. Because they need a scapegoat for their failures and they think that their solutions are flawless."

Carmo Condemns Belle Ilse en Terre, Atnaia

Image
President Lindsay Abelló at a press conference held in Carmo earlier today

President Abelló took to the podium today to denounce the recent actions of Belle Ilse en Terre and the embattled nation of Atnaia. This comes a mere day after Belle Ilse en Terre's announcement that it illegally claimed the Southern Canal and would be using it as a base to plunder shipping from. President Abelló addressed this "piracy, plain and simple" in unambiguous language, and made no hesitation to remind the King of Belle Ilse en Terre how the Corindi Navy, and indeed, most navies, dealt with pirates. He further addressed the health inspection scandal in the League, during which the Belle Ilse en Terre delegation accidentally admitted on a hot mic that they intended to manipulate the League into supporting an illegal coup in New Aapelistan, referring to it as "Imperialism, even if they stood no chance of success, and it must be punished accordingly."

After taking time to congratulate Coalition forces on pushing the San Montagnan invasion force out of Athara Magarat and announce the creation of a new Covonantian-Corindia initiative for designated Corindia companies to create arms exclusively for the Covonantian government, his speech returned to the west, and the actions of the Wessich regime in Atnaia.

While at first the President took a relatively amelioratory stance, merely saying "Perhaps it is time to let Merrit go", he soon after delved into harsher critiques of the Wessic Regime, citing cell phone footage out of Merrit Isle that showed armored vehicles and rockets being used on city streets, in a city that has not been properly evacuated. Also criticized was the speculated rise of state and private surveillance apparati, which the Abelló referred to as "one of the hallmarks of fascism".

Before leaving the stand, President Abelló made clear that while Corindia desires peace, it is looking into all options, diplomatic and otherwise, to curtail any actions "of a fascist or imperialist nature".

Schalkenmund to Construct Special Quarantine District for Ticker Population

Schalkenmund, the epicenter of the Ticking Flu Epidemic and hardest hit city by the disease in Atnaia, has announced that it's reconstruction efforts following the trials of the past year would center on a new district to be designated in the city. Nicknamed "Ticker Town", this district will house those infected with the disease who were displaced to Quarantine Camps during the epidemic.

"Public safety is our foremost concern," said Mayor Urigt vich Gent. "Both infected and uninfected should not feel like they are being set up for a recurrence of the disasters of the past months.

This, in addition with checkpoint measures enacted nationwide and continued vigilance of ARK, the NHS and Stone Wall-Bastion, is set to "limit the potential for a new explosion of the Ticking Flu".

"Protaex and vaccines are a good first step," said vich Gent, "but we mustn't let our guard down for a single moment. Tickers, despite best intentions, carry the Flu inside them and we must not forget that. Let's hope Schalkenmund becomes a model for how to handle this threat in the future." Read more...

Atnaia a Target of "Deliberate Campaign of Misinformation", says Vvilim Losmoro

"It's a smear campaign," says Duke Vvilim Losmoro, director of AVA. "Atnaians are facing a targetted attack on our identity. What we're facing is basically a character assassination."

Recent comments made by several foreign governments have spurred important Atnaian representatives to step forward and talk out. Public condemnations of gladiatorial combat by Jrm Hangma of Athara Magarat, ignoring the strict legal regulations put on indenturement contracts associated with gladiators, were swiftly followed by Corindian President Abelló calling Atnaian action in Merrit "imperialistic" have dominated regional newsfeeds this morning.

"Abelló's comments mischaracterized Atnaian activities on the Isle, seeming to imply we are attacking civilians with rockets," Losmoro said. "What he failed to mention is that the Atnaian Armed Forces on the Isle took every precaution to evacuate, and those who have not evacuated chose not to comply with safety measures. In addition, our forces have used no high explosives, and video footage actually shows the rebels utilizing rockets and showing a cavalier disregard for civilian life. Meanwhile, Jrm Hangma seems to believe we throw agency indents to the wolves like barbarians, ignoring the fact that these men and women sign very strict and specific contracts to fight, and that no one can be forced into gladiatorial combat without prior, agency-based, contractual consent. These world leaders want us to be a villain, but are incapable of doing the barest factchecking on themselves. The only other option is that this is an intentional and coordinated attack on Atnaia." ARK Projections Released

The Agency for Research and Knowledge, following their annual tradition, has released their 20 Year Projections of technological development for 2018. Utilizing current trends and known research projects, ARK plots out a potential timeline of the upcoming two decades of technological development on an annual basis, estimating potential discoveries and developments that will be released in that time.

"We see genomics and robotics as being the competing waves of the technological current in the next twenty years," says the ARK release. "The term 'designer drugs' is going to be much, much more realistic, and the continual progression of miniturization is going to continue at an even greater pace as new forms of circuit and fiber optics come into common usage. We hope to see Atnaian inventors and engineers at the forefront of these discoveries." Read more...

San Montagnan army equipment littered in an open field on Myagdi Island.
VICTORY IN ATHARA MAGARAT!
Tables Turned on Fascists!

Verona Beach Quiet has fallen on the isle of Myagdi once more. The scared San Montagnans have seen what happens when they provoke the world and invade innocent nations. Captured Montagnan equipment is strewn upon the beaches of the Magarati- and rightfully Magarati, too- island, simply too numerous to be stored properly. The surf takes what it pleases of the gear thrown hurriedly aside by retreating soldiers. Montagnan special forces, once filled with the collective pride of their nation, now quake like common criminals in detention facilities. The tricolour banners so temporarily raised in hatred over the little, peaceful island now either lay ripped in the mud or as trophies of various regiments.

Estimated troop casualties on both sides have not been released by either side.

While exact details are not forthcoming, a counter-offensive on the Montagnans seems forthcoming and is most likely underway. Preliminary victory celebrations were held on the island itself with a somber ceremony to begin rebuilding and a jubilant parade in the streets of Verona Beach. DOMESTIC: Snow for the Capital
Arnton, Ainslie

In an odd turn of events for an already abnormal event, Arnton woke up to snow showers on Saturday morning. Although it did not last into the afternoon, committed bedroom meteorologists and snow seekers got to take a glimpse at the largest snow event in December for Arnton in 11 years. The higher elevated suburbs in Arnton received snow showers, particularly in the north and the east whilst the south and city centre missed out entirely. Arnton overnight ranged between -3 and 1, with temperatures today getting to between 9 and 13.

Image
Image: The suburb of Collara in northeastern Arnton, just after 7:00 this morning.

Hauton has received a decent helping of snow, with local Hautoners ascending into the mountains to the small ski resort of Callatan which is under an hour from the city centre. The Wesland Electoral Government today advised people to only drive in areas 800m above sea level if their cars are properly compared for the conditions. Hauton reached -6 degrees overnight, with the top temperatures being 1-3 degrees for the next couple of days. This will mean the snow will likely last into the coming days and if any additional snow bearing fronts reach the town again, another fall is likely to occur.

Image
Image: A farm on the western outskirts of Hauton

The towns on the upper tablelands near the ranges have experienced more widespread setlled snow, with Kianara dipping down to -9 and Venterra reaching -8. The Kianara Chambers of Commerce today stated that they are looking forward to the business that winter brings and that this new snow indicates a long and healthy snow season. Kianara remains to be the most popular town outside of the villages at the resorts for those heading up to enjoy the season.

Image
Image: Kianara on friday afternoon receiving early snowfall.

Norden today stated that they have 15cm of new snow which has fallen overnight and further explained that an additional 40cm is expected to fall in the coming days. The cloud associated with the front has now for the most part moved past the Wesland Ranges, leaving clear conditions for the remainder of the day. It is likely the cloud will return on Sunday as additional snowfall is expected for the resorts.

Image
Image: Norden Resort this morning

The front will move along to Badara and Highland Ridge in the coming days, leaving snow in the latter location and along the Border Ranges, with frost expected in Badara. All of the Wesland Ranges resorts and towns are likely to not exceed 3C with Arnton and Hauton temperatures climbing back up to their averages by the middle of next week.

Widespread frost is expected for the majority of the tablelands, extending from Lakare in the east to the areas close to Cevern in the west. The message of the electoral governments to their people regarding the next few days is “enjoy the weather and what it brings, but be careful.”

Chancellor Zimmerman Comes through,
new globaliation era begins;
Correnia in the hunt for a new flag?

Image

Today High Chancellor Zimmerman took to the podium today, bringing the news what the majority of Correnians lobby'd the government for. Through public calls, the government put into action a referendum that passed the Provincial assembly by a 72% acceptance margin. The bill turned law, called the "Open Doors" bill has rendered a nearly century old bill null and void, and allowed the nation to end its house arrest. Since the end of WW2, the nation has been semi closed door and isolationist, only trading with the nations of Gael and old ally of Vancouvia. Now with this new bill, the country has turned a new leaf and opened it's doors to all nations and has now legalized immigration of people outside of Gael. What this bill does more, is allow for trade and relations with the rest of the world to commence. Among the first nation to use this bill is the great nation of Covanant, in which a representative has departed for a meeting today. In the words of the government, "This bill hopefully accomplishes exactly what the people want a need, and has opened the opportunity for different cultures and ideas to come to this nation. This nation is a very prideful nation and holds it traditions dearly, however we are also a nation of curious men and women, and great builders. We wish to learn the different aspects of the world and help build great projects in every corner, from the Far Nova sea, to the Argean and the Mesder. We hope nothing but prosperity and the opportunity to flourish comes from this."
The Chancellors decisions have been met with roaring public approval, and as a reaction many citizens have been spotted leaving their doors open to show their not only compassion, but will to communicate and work with the other nations of the world

Image

Following the recent study of the nations from around the world, there has been calls for a flag change into a new and updated flag, one looking less like that of Verdon. While some ponder the usefullness of such a legislation, the calls for a flag change have been growing. If such a change happens, what flag will come next? The government has put out a call for submissions. If you have a great flag idea, submit it here at https://www.LikeMyFlagCorrenia.com

Military conscription to be re-introduced, prelude to war?
Emperor Nicholas II of Aprosians to install his Congress

Image

December 17, 2017
Frosto, Great-Imperialonia

Viceroy Melas II will give is assent today for the National Act of Conscription 2017. The act will re-introduce two years of compulsory military service for all Imperialonian boys aged 17-19. The law was not a surprise, as Prime-Minister Montgomery and Defence Minister Mees Grand already expressed their desire for conscription. The act was passed with reasonable majorities in both houses. Besides the coalition and supply partners the Green Party and Communists also voted in favour, and in the States-General they also received reasonable support from unpledged nobles and clergymen. The act does however come at a very interesting situation, with the ongoing conflict regarding the recognition of Nicholas II government-in-exile as the legitimate rulers of New Aapelistan.

Emperor Džehar Nicholas II of Aprosians, who still resides in the Archduchial Palace of Megalopolis has simultaneously with the passage of the conscription act opened the first session of the Imperial Duma and Imperial Council, the future Lower- and Upper-House of the Aprosian Empire with giving a speech to both chambers of the Aprosian Congress in joint session. Last weeks different parties could enter a ‘sort of’ election in which they could gather signatures of support from people of Aprosian descent and some polls conducted by monarchists in New Aapelistan in secret. Despite Congress being elected democratically according to the constitution-in-draft, Nicholas II and his cabinet decided it was important to install a legislature to check the government, also to gather more support from other democracies, to eliminate the idea of an absolute monarchy.

Image
Imperialonian Defence Minister Mees Grand

The temporarily appointed Duma is mostly filled with the Aprosian Monarchist Party (AMP) which received 160 out of the 250 seats, just like in the Council where the AMP got 131 of the 150 seats. The Aprosian Communist Alliance (ACA) only got respectively 17 and 6 seats in the Duma and Council. There are some questions regarding the way the Congress was appointed, mostly because it is logical that all Aprosian refugees who polled for the temporality appointments where loyal monarchists, as the opposers of the Imperial Government refuse to recognise anything. In his opening speech however, Nicholas II tried to comfort them, stating that he will be a sovereign for all the people, monarchist or not.

Image
First Session of Aprosian Congress

Back to the conscription, where do these two situations align? Senator Floor Leader Tony Martens of the Liberal Democrats expressed his grave concern regarding the growing endorsement from Great-Imperialonia for the Džehar. He even went so far to link the conscription act with the imperial government in-exile of New Aapelistan.

Now it is all glamour and patriotism we see with the government of Emperor Nicholas II, but slowly our government is binding us with chains to them. The conscription act is a prelude to another war between USNRA and our beloved Viceroyalty. The three estates gathered in this chamber cannot let this happen, we must stand up against these actions and prevent the spilling of blood for a government of a country that isn’t our’s, no matter if the cause is just and patriotic.

Minister Mees Grand has already set aside the accusations of Senator Martens and his other two companions in the States-General. Although he refused to deny a war would eventually began between the USNRA and Great-Imperialonia, he did say that the Great-Imperialonian government was still an independent country, functioning independently and not on command of Nicholas II.

Increasingly, tensions and riots are reported to be happening in New Aapelistan. Wether Great-Imperialonia will back the claim of Nicholas II with force or not, it is clear they still only recognise one commander-in-chief: Viceroy Melas II.

Foreigh Minister Cahyadi Kunakara in Gusatter, Torom (5/12)

GUSATTER, Kabar Sahari - Foreign Minister Kunakara set foot in Torom last Thursday to attend meetings regarding free trade and renewable energy with President of Torom, Anton Hemiva.

According to a press release from the Samuderan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Samudera offered the Toromish companies a deal which enabled the investment of these companies into the growing Samuderan green energy sector. He also emphasised the importance of renewable energy and its role to halt the growing threat of global warming and sea level rise.

Samudera’s green energy sector, particularly in electric cars and solar cells, has been rapidly growing in the past three years due to the government incentivising of renewable energy sources in order to reduce the dependence on fossil fuels. Samudera used to import tens of thousands of barrels every year.

Gandaria Floating Solar Farm, one of the first floating solar farms in the region, is being built in the north of Lake Tong.

Both nations signed a Memorandum of Understanding about their commitment to cooperation in the renewable energy sector, and their commitment to cooperation in this sector in order to combat rising sea levels - a significant threat to both nations.

Trade was also a major point of discussion during the visit. Torom’s strategic location as a gateway to Argus and the Mesder has made the nation a significant trade partner. Lower tariffs have been negotiated successfully and there has been a future plan to open a free trade area between the two nations.

With Minister Kunakara on his visit to Torom is a business delegation that includes online transportation GoTor, food industry giant Samudfood, and solar cell manufacturer Mentari Solar Company.

An additional Memorandum of Understanding was also signed to enable a visa free policy for bilateral travel. The pact will promote the development of relations between the two nations in all spheres of culture and art and measures aimed to protect and preserve the national cultural heritage.

The Foreign Minister departed Torom this evening to visit Townside.

Vucarians form paramilitary in Athara Margarat

Image
The Berets presented to members of the Kravi Vukovi, with members in the background.

In the aftermath of the invasion of Athara Margarat, an undisclosed amount of Vucarian citizens have departed for Athara Margarat, their goal to form a paramilitary group to serve and protect the interests of the white tigress.

Many individuals within Vucari have close ties to those of Khas-Kirati lineage, with ~9 million citizens falling into Khas-Kirati ethnicity. Alongside a strong sense of socialist solidarity, even those without direct relations to citizens of Athara Margarat were enraged by the invasion, pledging to protect the nation, legally or otherwise.

That pledge has come into affect, with the formation of the Kravi Vukovi, a paramilitary group within Athara Margarat comprised primarily of Vucarian Khas-Kiratis and even Vucarians. Although paramilitary, they are expected to answer to the government of Athara Margarat and are expected to be utilized to work around international law due to their status as paramilitary.

No official source has provided the amount of citizens that have left for the Kravi Vukovi. It is predicted that enough have joined to form a large battalion to a small regiment. As of current no government officials have commented, it is expected that an official response will be given once the force gets put into action.

Suren Magar, a former member of the Vukgrad Vanguards (The winning team in the AWICC championship) has attained a contract to play for AM United, receiving a contract of 2 million USD.

Proceeding the end of the Association of Western Isles Cricket Clubs (AWICC) championship, Suren Magar's impeccable performance attracted the attention of the Khas-Kiratis across the isles, even the attention of AM united, who approached him with an offer of 1.5 mil. USD, just before the invasion of Athara Margarat.

Although in a state of war, negotiations regarding Suren Magar's contract continued throughout the shot-lived conflict, with the value being bumped up to 2 mil USD at the request of the Vucarian government. Suren Magar is currently in the process of attaining dual citizenship, and is expected to reside within Athara Margarat during the duration of his contract.

Foreign Minister Condemns Atnaia Following News of Enslaved Gladiatorial Games

Image

Foreign Minister Lydia Abbasca is today publicly condemning the Atnaian Quorum for their continued practice and support of indentured gladiatorial sports, often leading to severe injuries and deaths of most individuals. Minister Abbasca speaking to the Consul during their weekend briefing notes that Covonant will be looking closer at Atnaia as the country stands to pose serious threats to the peace of the South Mesder.

For far too long successive governments have either worked alongside, supported certain agendas and even assisted in the fulfillment of agendas where Atnaia is concerned. This administration will not continue on that trajectory. Atnaia is a trouble state waiting to drag the South Mesder in another turbulent phase and the Union of Covonant must ensure that does not occur. We were most appalled when news broke out of the practice of deadly gladiatorial games taking place in the country and later I personally was informed that the country has not been keeping in line with international rules and regulations regarding the treatment, protection and rights of all people.

The Minister expressed that Covonant will make it a duty to have the country comply to international codes and law. She notes that Covonant may intervene at the International level to coerce the government to desist from the support of indentureship and crimes against humanity.

Covonant is seen as a beacon of hope for all citizens around the region that ensures that it's citizens enjoy full rights and protection of such rights. We as a country try our best to promote such values to other countries around the Isles, and Atnaia will not be an exception. My Ministry will explore every route possible to have the Atnaian government comply to international law and we are starting at the highest international institution and will not hesitate to rely on the Cooperative Union as well. If we sit idle and allow such monstrosities to continue we would have to contend with the greatest human rights abuse across from our border that would be a shame and tarnish on the reputation of what Covonant regionally is known for

The Minister notes that Covonant will continue to monitor activities taking place in Atnaia but will begin it's campaign to seek change in country.

We cannot intervene in Atnaia for matters of sovereignty but I believe collectively with allies and partners of Covonant we may be able to correct a grave crisis waiting to unfold.

Miklanian Among Two Covonantians Caught Smuggling Illicit Contraband

Image

Three individuals have been caught trying to import illegal substances into Covonant. Two Covonantians and a foreign national, a Miklanian were intercepted late last night trying to smuggle approximately 400 kilograms of Cocaine a deadly substance prohibited under Covonantian federal laws for distribution and use. The three individuals have so far been arrested and are expected to undergo trial this week Friday. Reports coming into the CBC express that the men were transporting cocaine in a yacht coming from San Montagna to Kanaute. Further investigation brought to light that the substance may have been coming from San Javier. Superintendent Lucius Sapia of the Kanaute Coastal Unit notes that the men were caught around 11:45 pm and their suspicious behaviour raised alarms.

The boat was seen coming into Covonantian waters around 11:30-11:45 pm last night, an alarm was raised as the boat bared no bearings, no form of identification and we were conducting our usual coastal patrol when we intercepted the boat we notice unusual behaviour and responses from the individuals with raised suspicion we conducted a search and found well over 400 kilograms of cocaine inside the yacht.

When asked what is the penalty for trafficking drugs Supt. Sapia had this to say.

I am aware that under federal law such activities carry the death penalty. I am not certain what the verdict will be I'm this case as the last time we saw individuals undergo that verdict was this year May following a similar incident in Roberticis.

The CBC had sought to receive confirmation whether the Miklanian embassy in Coventry were notified of their national being held in a Covonantian prison but our attempts were unsuccessful. The CBC will however continue to monitor this developing story as it unfolds.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Calls Renaut Reactionary

Image

Foreign Minister Lydia Abbasca is calling the remarks by Chief Consul Renaut of Keverai as reactionary. She made the statement following Consul Renaut remarks on Covonant support of Nicholas Alexander of Great Imperialonia claim to the New Aapelistani throne. Minister Abbasca speaking in the Consul expressed that Keverai should be less reactive.

The Union of Covonant Government strongly supports the claims of Nicholas as rightful ruler to New Aapelistan and is it a claim we will continue to support and promote. I was taken aback to the remarks by Mister Renaut lecturing Covonant on how our foreign policy must be. One could argue this is the finest way of a small fish being to reactive in large waters where sharks are at play. I applaud Consul Renaut of his concerns but this government will stand by our claims of accuracy and our support. We believe that through Nicholas, Covonant and Great Imperialonia can work together to bring meaningful change I'm a peaceful way to the largest destabilizing force in the region, the EUSR.

Opposition Leader Imperatus Marl however cautioned the government for their support of Nicholas and expressed his support of Renaut's advise.

Can this honorable house not see that we are forging a deadly policy that is bound to fail. The Covonantian government has seen to descend to a level that they believe that they cannot be given advise from concerned partners across the region when it is evident that our policy is bound to fail. How certain are we that Nicholas can be the proper channel through which we seek to bring change and yet will he even bring the change we so long for. The government must be truthful in its reason for taking certain paths and I for one will call it what it is, nothing but Covonant pushing it's nose in someone else business and we might just be shocked when it fails. Yes I said fail because my administration would never shake hands with Great Imperialonia as you seem to forget that just over a year ago they were a regional threat and today the country that pledges regional peace is supporting the once largest threat. Is this government so desperate to hurt New Aapelistan, I for one wish to know why. The EUSR has never attacked verbally nor physically the Union of Covonant. This is the stupidest policy that a Covonantian government would craft and the sad bit is that it gives Great Imperialonia the strength to push through its naivete.

Minister Abbasca declined to respond but provided a few laughs during the opposition leader remarks.

DO REMEMBER THIS IS THE CBC.

VNN ~ Vancouvian News Network
Illa Isle, Vancouvia

Base Tern Protest Still Delicate Situation

The three week siege of Base Tern on Illa Isle caused by the Congressional decision to turn down the Arun Valley protocol has somewhat quieted down, as the island's activity has returned to relative normalcy. However, roughly 3,000 protestors remain outside the Base's gates, picketing and camping in the freezing Vancouvian December.

One of their self proclaimed "Speakers," who declined to give his name, had this to say in a TV interview:

"Look, what it comes down to is this: we're out here to expose the fact that Vancouvia was and is a imperialistic state that does not care for minority rights. Take this island, for example. Many Illa Islanders never wished to be absorbed into Vancouvia, and yet, now here we are, our whole way of life changed and nothing we can do about it. Make no mistake, minorities exist in Vancouvia, and the government's non-recognition of that fact, and their constant portrayal of Vancouvia as a great melting pot, is just a bold faced lie. Vancouvia is a patchwork quilt and Illa is the latest patch to be brutally stitched on under the watchful eye of the VSF. I mean, right now, you point your cameras 300 meters north and you'll see a Vancouvian Special Forces sniper with his finger on the trigger, his scope pointed right at our heads. That's damn sure not liberty; that's damn sure not my countryman."

Although the protestors remain, road access to the base and hospital was restored last Thursday when an army convoy drove through the crowd, and expelled remaining protestors with non-lethal tear gas. Although no one was killed in the incident, over 100 protestors came forward with mostly mild injuries in the hours after. The army has since set up barricades and barbed wire, as well as armed patrols, seeking to prevent the protestors from cutting off access from Westilla again.

"I cannot tell you how important this base is," said Lucas Springfield, a Major in the VNA stationed at the base. "Base Tern houses Illa's largest hospital and provides tens of thousands of direct and indirect jobs to the local community. Without Base Tern, Illa would be thrown back into the poverty that existed before Vancouvia began humanitarian initiatives three years ago. This base is the only thing keeping this island afloat, frankly, and what this mob attempted here was reckless and treasonous."

It remains to be seen whether the military will attempt to drive out the remnants of the protestors, or how Congress will respond to growing social pressure from online groups sympathetic to them.

26th Remembrance Day for Noronica

We have a special report on the Noronnican Remembrance Day, commemorating and celebrating the 26th anniversary of the conclusion of the People's Republic of Noronica, which oversaw Noronica’s darkest historical period. Over 48 years ago, the Overlordship of Noronica underwent a huge political shift that saw the country become a cesspool of corruption and death. The popular revolution that saw the Government come to power was soon quickly reversed as factions formed that were vehemently against the corrupt and brutal regime.

It was 1966, and the country was in turmoil. Reflective of its pre-unified period, militant groups came to the forefront of Noronnican politics after the Noronnican red Scare and the swift put-down of the fledgeling Noronnican Communist Party. Still paying off war debts, and under a slow and arduous Government, the populace became frustrated, desiring to stop being crippled by the effects of the Second World War and desiring to retain the country’s colonies that desired independence. One such group was the Noronnican Workers’ Party that, despite its name, was a far-right nationalist party that looked for the tired working-class for support. Under the rule of the politically able Francesca Peyter, the NWP prospered, gaining the support of many of the electorate after its successful rally in Harburgh, one of Noronica’s most industrial cities.

Francesca was born in one of the poorer areas of Nolon City, her mother dying of pneumonia when she was ten years old. Her father was very politically active in the Communist Party, holding mass rallies against the Government, protesting under Marxist ideals, eventually becoming General Secretary of the party. Francesca grew into the political life, her studies soon consumed by politics and history, and she spent most of her days with her father protesting. However, after her father’s death, she developed her own political ideals. In her obituary speech of her father at one of his rallies, she spoke plainly to the party that she was diverging, “In my lifetime we shall see a strong Noronica. We shall see an Empire that ravages the lands of the Western Isles and we shall see our flag raised on every island.” The group rallied behind her and she was able to use her popular power base to suppress her rivals for her father’s position, taking swift control after the failed Communist revolution and the banning of the Noronnican Communist Party. She formed a new party for herself, creating a hierarchal system that ensured she remained in total power above the party, forming a cult of personality behind her.

In the 1967 elections, the Noronnican Workers’ Party gained a small victory in Parliament, taking 32% of the seats. In the 1969 elections years later, Francesca’s party took 71% of the seats, giving her a majority. She formed a Government and as soon as she was given royal assent as Prime Minister, she began making small amendments to the constitution, taking chunks of power away from the Parliament and the Crown. Francesca was caught doing this a year after, but she had given herself so much power that she was able to evade arrest, instead deciding to turn the blame towards the so-called ‘Stagnant System of Oppression’. This spread quickly, and Francesca used her command of the electorate’s confidence to reform the political system from the ground up. Thus the People’s Republic of Noronica was born and Francesca became Noronica’s first President.

Her reforms were, at first, prosperous, as the economy was soon mobilised into full-force. Industrialisation was at an all-time high, and the initial steps towards universal healthcare were introduced. However, Francesca’s true nature became apparent as her harsh mobilisation of the populace to industrialise came at a tremendous cost to human lives. Around 823,000 people died in the first four years due to the harsh working conditions and execution for insubordination. Her later reforms gave her the disdain that many hold against her today, her most famous being the ‘Noronnican People’ Act. This created an apartheid between those that were of ‘pure Noronnican’ or ‘Khas-Kirati’ ethnicity, and those that were seen as ‘genetically-misconstructed’ (according to her paper, ‘the Problem of our Land’). This broad group included those that went against her ideals of a perfect Noronnican. The truth of the matter was that this group included many different people, eventually becoming just political prisoners. These people were usually put to work on vast industrial complexes, the mines, or they were executed by death squads whose activities have only been revealed recently with the National Archives allowing public access to some of the Republican documents. It is known that Francesca often wrote her own execution lists of those she wished to be killed.

However, the country was not willing to be brought to its knees yet. Tytus Alexander, the son of some of the few remaining landed gentry in Noronica, was disgusted by the atrocities of the Government. He was a revolutionary and wished to see Noronica return to a monarchy under a fairer and less-corrupt Government. He was one of the founding members of the illegal political party, the Noronnican Freedom Movement.

Image

Once again, Noronica was dragged into war. Tytus took part in Guerrilla operations against Government transport and cutting off important supplies. He also oversaw many operations against Government officials, many of whom were directly involved with the creation of labour camps and the executions of the ‘unpure’. Once his party had grown enough, it was able to enter open conflict with the pro-Government forces.

The war concluded on 19th December 1991 under a rebel-victory, aided by the State of Ostehaar who retained its friendship with Noronica. The rebels and the Oster forces took vast chunks of territory and underwent large bombardments on key positions. The Coalition moved into the City of Nolon and took control of the capital with Tytus Alexander at the forefront of the rebel force that entered the city. Overseeing the efforts to rid the country of its Government and putting NWF party-members on trial. He took the position of Noronica’s second and last President while he reconstructed the constitution and soon Noronica was returned under a new political system, one that promised a change from the past atrocities the country had seen years prior. Furthermore, Tytus was, by popular support, crowned Overlord of this new nation. While he was stepping away from politics and no longer had any say in the administration of the country, he vowed to ensure that never again would Noronica fall into brutal dictatorship.

Now Noronica commemorates the anniversary of the fall of the Republican Government annually on the 19th December. The populace wears a red scarf and holds a period of silence at 10 o’clock in the morning. In Nolon City, a service is held before the Noronnican Victory Parade where the Prime Minister and Overlord give a speech reflecting on the past year and looking to the future.

Live Transcript:

Lysa McDerren: Good Morning, it is now 6:00 AM in Nolon City and we are with you live as Noronica undergoes its Remembrance Day commemoration. This is an annual day of commemoration in which Noronica remembers the Civil War and its conclusion, bringing an end to the violent and brutal dictatorship that was the People's Republic of Noronica. It is also a chance to look back on the year as both the Prime Minister and Overlord give their speeches. This has been an especially tough year for the country what with several international incidents and military involvement in both Arván and Athara Magarat. However, Noronica has undergone huge improvements especially after the inauguration of the new Prime Minister, Joshua McIntosh whose approval ratings have soared over the past year. Here with me now is his Chief of Staff Malcolm Schmidt, Good Morning.

Malcolm Schmidt: Good Morning Lysa. How are you?

Lysa McDerren: Very well. Now, as I'm sure many are anxious to know at home, I would like to ask you about this year and what lies ahead for Noronica.

Malcolm Schmidt: Certainly Lysa, this year has seen a tremendous shift in Noronica's position, not only domestically but internationally. As a nation, our policies have changed significantly especially towards international organisations. This year alone, we have seen Noronica become a signatory for several international organisations, the Coalition of Free Nations, the Cooperative Union, the Coalition of Six, the Gael Four, and the Joint Emergency Response Force. Noronica plays an integral role internationally and we hope to ensure this continues as it will allow us to not only prosper ourselves, but make sure that the Isles remains prosperous as a whole. As a Government, we strive to make sure that no one has to suffer from disaster or poverty, that is why we spend as much as we do on our International Aid and it is why we and several other nations joined the JERF. This has also been aided by our friends and allies across the Western Isles who are at the heart of our actions. We make sure to stand together with our allies.

Lysa McDerren: What has Noronica been doing domestically? While I'm sure many of our viewers are as excited as we are about international relations, the key question is how they are being affected.

Malcolm Schmidt: And it is only right for them to be concerned about domestic Noronica. This new administration under the leadership of the Prime Minister has been allowed to make huge progress. As a nation, we are undoubtedly more secure than ever, as the Bureau of Internal Security works to ensure the country remains safe from terrorist threats through the newest and smartest technology available. Take Nolon City, for example, crime rates have drastically fallen since new measures were put in place by the BIS. It is now being hailed for its security systems put in place. However, through these schemes, we have held one value above all, liberty. The people should decide how they're protected, and our new systems, especially the NOCAS system, is highly personalised so that citizens may be free to make the system their own. I personally use mine with the NOCAS BeFit app for keeping up with my daily fitness, and that's just a small example of what this system can do. I must stop myself as I'm too excited over NOCAS! Let's look at other sectors. Noronica's economy is booming with its membership in the Cooperative Union, its connections with Argus and Gael nations, and its new connections with Mesder nations. We are also proud to say that Noronica's environmental standards are increasing with more of a focus on nuclear energy than traditional energy, and there have been drives all across the nation to promote electric cars and public transport, cutting emissions down. We hope to further cut down emissions by the 2020's. Noronica's unemployment is lowering as we see more and more public work schemes in infrastructure, agriculture and horticulture. We hope to host a Horticulture Expo very soon.

Lysa McDerren: Mr. Schmidt, I'm going to have to stop you there as we can now see that the Federal Assembly has closed and the Members of Assembly are now making their way towards the hill of Nolon Castle. We will be back with you in the studio in just a moment.

Lysa McDerren: The Members of Assembly have now arrived at Nolon Castle and are filing into the seats. The Speakers of both chambers have arrived as well and are now taking their own seats at the front. There is a definite divide seen here as the opposition take their seats across from the current ruling party, the Noronnican Order Party. The two have seen several sparks fly between each other in the Federal Assembly with the Conservative party leader Cathy McNotte coming to blows with the Prime Minister on several occasions in Government Questions.

Malcolm Schmidt: It certainly has been an exciting year for politics.

Lysa McDerren: Foreign representatives to the event are now arriving by car outside Nolon Castle. It has been a very interesting year for Noronica as it has vastly broadened its international relations as we have heard from the Chief of Staff Malcolm Schmidt, especially its membership within international alliances. The country has also hosted the Cooperative Union Leader’s Summit and has hosted three State Visits.

Malcolm Schmidt: This is emphasised by the number of representatives attending the service, here we see the Michigonian representative, Morris Ward, Vice President of the Federal Council. Noronnican and Michigonian relations have certainly warmed with the united approach to Arvanan criminal activities and the stabilisation of Arván, and with both nations being a member of the Gael Four. I hope this relationship can continue as it continues the historic friendship that our two nations have had.

The Corindian representative, Reyes d'Cruz, Secretary of State. Now, while Noronica and Corindia are not connected by an alliance, our two nations have come to very friendly terms, especially economically as our two nations have been at forefront of the development of military technology and commercial aircraft. Since we began this joint effort we have seen a sharp increase in sales, and our technology has been used throughout the Isles to promote the defence of our allies and have been used in humanitarian operations. Corindia and Noronica were also both involved in Arván, with Corindia taking a key role in military operations. We hope to continue this relationship and hope that we can develop it further.

The Great-Imperialonian representative, Arthur Fornost, Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime-Minister. Great-Imperialonia and Noronica have a cordial relationship. Both nations were recently involved in League talks over the legitimacy of the new claimant to the long-dead Aprosian throne.

The Dormill and Stiuran representative, Alice Richelieu, President of Dormill and Stiura who is attending Remembrance Day as her last foreign visit. Noronnicans were deeply interested in the recent elections in Dormill and Stiura, especially with the candidate Justin Abraham who publically advocated against Noronica being in Arván. We are glad to see that our two countries remain at peace with each other, and we hope that we can cooperate fully with the new administration.

The Eisenbirgean representative, Kunigunde Brunhilde, Minister for External Affairs. Noronica is glad to see the Eisenbirgean representative and we deeply hope that we can build good relations with each other.

The Ahnslen representative, Eleane Gifford, Foreign Minister. Noronica and Ainslie had had an interesting relationship throughout this year as both countries are members of some of the same alliances, and both nations have been involved in Gael politics. Ainslie was also an attendant of the Noronnican CU Leader's Summit, so our two nations have seen foreign visits to each other. Noronica and Ainslie share a good relationship through both politics and sport, and we hope to continue this.

The Oster representative, Elena Brahurer, Minister of Foreign Affairs. Perhaps a key player in today's celebrations and surely one that will be focused on is the Oster representative. As we know, Ostehaar played an integral role in the Noronnican Civil War, supporting Noronica throughout its experience. Through the relationship between Ostehaar and Tytus I all those years ago, we have cooperated strongly together, with Ostehaar being an important factor in Noronica's nuclear energy programme and through the Argean Rapid Response Force which both countries are members of alongside Vancouvia. We hope to continue our important relationship with Ostehaar as we progress into the new year.

The Athara Magarati representative, Jrm Hangma, Interim Mahang of Athara Magarat who is attending today as her first foreign visit. Athara Magarat and Noronica have been long-time allies ever since the dawn of the political union between Queen Magaidh and Emay Hang during the period of the Khas-Kirati Empire. Our nations have grown through the years and remain staunch allies now in the 21st Century. Athara Magarat played a key part in Arvanan operations and it is home to one of Noronica's most important military bases, the Gurkha recruitment base. However, its new leader, Jrm Hangma has been the subject of controversy in Noronica, especially with the recent demands made by her Government over Miklanian territory. We hope that the situation does not detiorate and that we may remain strong allies to the end.

The Covonantian representative, Lydia Abbasca, Minister of Foreign Affairs. Covonant and Noronica have seen a crucial year in their relationship this year as both countries have been conducting several tasks and operations together. Both nations are in the Coalition of Six and the Cooperative Union, both of which are deeply important to the relationship between the two nations. Covonant also played a key role in Arvanan operations, and now both nations are involved in military operations in Athara Magarat and San Montagna. Since the new Covonantian administration, Noronica was the first to host the new Prime Minister, Crassus Gais. The State Visit was a great success, deepening the ties our two countries have.

The Wellsian representative, Hamish Dewar, Archprocurator of State. Wellsia and Noronica share key military roles in the Coalition of Six. The two nations enjoy good relations, and we hope that Wellsia and Noronica may deepen their relations in the coming year.

The Townside representative, Ivan Kipling, International Minister. According to Townside's Government, this will be Townside's first engagement beyond Southern Gael, Eastern Argus and the Southern Sea. Townside and Noronica's relationship has warmed recently and we hope that our relations can develop further in the coming year.

Lysa McDerren: I think that covers everyone!

Malcolm Schmidt: As I said, this has been an exciting year for Noronica, especially on the international stage.

Lysa McDerren: Ah, now we can see the Overlord and Prime Minister have arrived in their separate state cars. These were recent purchases by the Prime Minister who have praised them for being much more secure than their predecessors. They have been featured in multiple magazines as well being part of the new Quentin car line-up for this year. The two leaders are now walking into the halls, we can see that they are engaged in conversation, one can only imagine what about.

Malcolm Schmidt: The two have grown closer over the past year as they both faced crisis in Arván and through various State Visits, they have come together. It is noticeable how much the two work well together and the Overlord has mentioned his appreciation of the Prime Minister, praising his 'skill in both calm and crises'.

Lysa McDerren: Now we shall hear a reading from various religious heads in Noronica, including the Archbishop of Gwynon who shall give the final reading and blessing. We shall join you again for the Overlord's speech before the attendants travel to Nolon Square where we shall watch the Remembrance Day Parade and the Prime Minister's speech.

Lysa McDerren: We join you now to hear the Overlord's closing remarks after that moving ceremony.

~ I often find myself saddened that I must remind a whole nation of our troubled past merely days before merriment and joy. However, in the deep winter cold, we must remember who we are, lest we forget. The Noronica then was forged through blood and tremendous loss. Our Noronica has been forged through hope for a new tomorrow. Through hardship, we have seen prosperity. Through sadness we see happiness. Not a year goes by without me feeling proud of what we have become.

I am proud that I fought for a better Noronica, as we did - do not deserve to be trampled over by despots and tyrants. This country had to endure brutal atrocities through a fascistic regime. Now we stand tall above that and we remember our past so that we may be humble, but so we may also stand against totalitarianism wherever it may be found.

Our country may face crises, but I shall know that it will not be on our soil. We shall promote peace and unity throughout the Isles as my Government works tirelessly to ensure we remain a strong and prosperous nation of hope.
~

Lysa McDerren: Here we are at the Remembrance Day parade. We are now joined by the Secretary for Defence Martyn Greyhound. Good Afternoon.

Martyn Greyhound: Good Afternoon.

Lysa McDerren: What can we expect in today's parade?

Martyn Greyhound: Well, with recent military procurements, we should be seeing some of Noronica's newest technology. For example, we shall be seeing NO-917 Weasgaich tanks, NO-CO1 Coyote jeeps, F-19 Aingael fighters, F-123 Falcon stealth fighters, and F-121 Jaorfalkehn fighters. These are all integral military equipment for the Noronnican Armed Forces. In terms of personnel, we shall be seeing several groups including the SAU, SMU, and some of the SOU from the Special Forces. We shall also see several representatives from all branches of the Armed Forces, with a small foreign contingent as well.

Lysa McDerren: Well, we shall see the parade now, but this is the end of our commentary here in the studio. To those at home and those online, goodbye.

Jrm Hangma needs to sharpen her diplomatic skills: Opposition

Image
Opposition leader Rabindra Nembang says Jrm Hangma has made Athara Magarat "look bad" in international community.

NEW LIBANG

After attending the 26th Remembrance Day for Noronica commemorating and celebrating the 26th anniversary and conclusion of the People's Republic of Noronica, Jrm Hangma left Nolon for Dovgorod - the capital of the Eastern Union of Socialist Republics after being invited by the grand imams of Tumania, Kachee and Kajvu. Upon Jrm Hangma's absence, special meetings were conducted in both the Divan-i-Magarati and the Kurultai after protests by opposition parties and student leaders. The general consensus reached in Athara Magarat was that the diplomatic crisis caused Jrm Hangma's "demanding letter" to the League needed to be fixed as soon as possible.

"Jrm Hangma is a good leader no doubt. Her charisma has kept our nation on track after a war but her diplomatic skills need to be reconsidered," Rabindra Nembang of the opposition Progressive Alliance, the party of first president Iris McGlinchy and former national leader Paija Hang, said.

"First off, all Athara Magarati leaders have historically met leaders of the South Mesder Sea after taking office, especially the Atnaian, Covonantian, Doman and sometimes even Miklanian and Ilsan ones to cement ties with our neighbors. Jrm Hangma is the first national leader to break that rule and have Noronica as her first foreign visit. I am not saying Noronica is not a wonderful ally of our nation. In fact, Noronica is the first ally of both the Khas-Kirat Empire and Athara Magarat but our neighbors should be prioritized. Choosing Noronica, whose alliance is a symbol of Khas-Kirat Empire, is like prioritizing the legacy of that empire - an entity that half of the Isles still hate. The entity that is directly or indirectly responsible for all sorts of mess from the situation in Tumania to SHOCK. And she is on her way to the EUSR. I can get she wants to mend ties with our distant eastern cousins and ideological comrades but choosing to visit the EUSR before having sent foot on Atnaia, Covonant, Domanania or Miklania sets a very wrong message."

"And she has been clearly brushing aside our neighbors. She has condemned the Atnaian government - something that her predecessors haven't done. Worst of all, she sent a threatening letter to the League of all places for one small uninhabited rock. Our nation has a strict policy of respecting other nation's sovereignty but Jrm Hangma broke that asking - no - demanding the League to get Miklanian government and army to clear the island. Now we can't just go around demanding that in international buildings for proper peace and dialogue. The Heavens know what people around the Isles might be thinking of our nation now..."

It is not known for how long Jrm Hangma will stay in the EUSR as a diplomatic visit but the Divan-i-Magarati have already sent a letter of apology to the Miklanian government on the behalf of the Athara Magarati people at her absence.

Despite rebuking Jrm Hangma for her diplomatic moves since she took office which have resulted in Samuderans burning her effigy, Benito Franco and San Montagnan government condemning her, Bhikkustani Buddhists protesting against her and hacktivist group The Rood calling her a dictator with goals to militarize Athara Magarat, even Mr Nembang and the students protested against her agreed that other nations around the Isles were still blaming Athara Magarat for SHOCK's activities.

"If I have to be honest, we would use the money to send relief packages to poorer countries and victims of natural disasters around the Isles than supporting a bunch of hooligans or trying to topple governments of other nations." King Ring Hang, a member of the Divan-i-Magarati said. "It is baffling how many nations and their media still say 'Athara Magarati terror group SHOCK did this bombing on that location' when it is a multinational group who for all our misfortune, happened to be founded by Athara Magaratis, a fact we acknowledge. Some like the San Montagnans openly accuse us of being a terrorist state. But there are more Khas-Kiratis from various other nations and Bhikkustani nationals (as in the refugees) in SHOCK than our citizens and as you all can see, we are working with our Vancouvian and C6 partners. If needed, I can as member of the Divan, even provide a list of all suspected Athara Magarati citizens under our watch."

"Rather than our tiny nation, I think large nations with ulterior motives have more reasons to fund SHOCK than we do." Mr Nembang, the opposition leader, agreed.

Polar Svalbard Condemns the Hegemony of Atnaia

In a shocking press release, the Consul Bellum and Consul Adstutia jointly announced that Polar Svalbard was no longer a friend to the current government of Atnaia.

In the press conference they noted the numerous human rights abuses that the Atnaian government allows inside its nation. They slammed the nation's leadership about how they handled the Tickling Flu and how they continue to mishandle the situation. From gladiator tournaments to Indebtor camps to numerous other human rights violations, each of these were described with passion by the Consuls. Along with that the Consul Adstutia stated that the Svalbardian Ambassador to the League directly gave the Atnaian ambassador this notice.

It is unknown how this will truly affect Svalbardian-Atnaian relations and whether or not this will mean that Polar Svalbard is throwing its weight behind the separatists on Merrit Isle, but it is likely that there will be great tensions between Atnaia and Polar Svalbard.

Response to Atnaia actions
During the latest Press conference, the higher reaches of the government have called upon the Atnain leadership to change their actions. High Chancellor Zimmerman has called upon the nation to put a condemnation official doctrine on Atnaia for their indentured servitude. previously today, Zimmerman provided these words:
"It is with a heavy heart I have come to announce reasonable actions by Correnia against the Atnaia nation. Their usage of indentured servitude is a crime against the freedom of man, and should be fought against in such a way. The life of man should be in his or her own hands, and not be regulated to another based on how well he did a job based on his contract. For these reasons, an official condemnation is being put into practice, with one additional clause. If the Atnaian nation does not give up it's heinous practice in 62 days of work, ending on Friday March 23, 2018, the government of Correnia will have no choice but to install trade and border sanctions on the offending state. This clause if put into effect, will effectively render null and void any passage of immigrants, tourists, working visas or any travel from Atnaia to Correnia, as well as any trade where the product takes the following form of liquid, solid or gas. That will be all."

New Political and spiritual group rising?
Over the past year, we have seen a upstart group called the midnight union take the various groups of Correnia by storm. Recognizable by their triple crescent logo, they call for the "rebirth of the nation, a people united, be it native or immigrant." This group follows the teachings of the ancient Correnian monk Azula, a Buddhist turned self made teacher from the 1200's. She died in 1282, at the age of 127 years old. The Midnight Union believes in the three tenants of life, birth, life, and death's rebirth. Also growing, this belief is sti~

Good Morning, afternoon and evening ladies and gentlemen. If you are reading this, it means you are one of the many lucky ones today. You were able to read this before that government realizes their site was hacked and edits were made to the news post. I am a member of the Midnight Union, a follower of our ancestor Azula, the fabled grandmother of our nevarine. Azula is often portrayed more as a communal progenitor of our people as a whole rather than as an individual ancestor. She is associated with Dusk and Dawn, and is sometimes called the Mother Soul. Other names include titles such as Mother of the rose and Queen of the night sky. Azula's Star, also called the Twilight Star, appears briefly at dawn and dusk low on the horizon below the constellation of the Gemini. Azula is associated with mystery and magic, fate and prophecy. She is a kind and benevolent being, but her wrath is swift and unforgiving, should you smolder her.
The Midnight Union has come together to tackle a major problem withen our nation. That is our government. Day in and day out they do limitless things, without our knowledge. They say no men are fit to be masters of another yet here we are, they are the masters of us, and we didnt even choose them. We are the volunteer slaves for their government. In their guide for a pure society, they have been corrupted themselves. Is is time for a change. For a cleansing before things turn to the worst. When we, the people called for outcry against Atnaia for their crimes against their very own people, our government only challenge one aspect of it, and gave them more than enough time to shrug it off. Against the words our us, the people, the nation has grown closer to the MSTO. Now, we have had enough. The time is now. In our code of laws, only the fittest may rule. You may take rule by challenging overs and moving up the ladder. You are no longer fit to rule, and like a virus sickening the body, we will cleanse you.
Believe. Believe in the might and knowledge of Azula.

TENSE LEAGUE DISCUSSION ON ATNAIA; BARBURJ THREATENS TO PULL OUT

The recent public debate on the issue of Atnaia and the war in Merrit Isle has reached the League halls yesterday, as delegates Barburj (Atnaia) and Americo (Corindia) disputed over Atnaia's stance in the League. Americo, who reacted to Barburj's suggestion that the League would denounce the MLF in exchange for Atnaia's help in Charbagnia, called it a "waste [of] our time" and accused the Atnaian delegate of asking the League a "legitimization of war". Barburj, in response, accused the League of "abandoning" Atnaia during the Ticking Flu epidemic and threatened to withdraw from the organization entirely if it would deny the request.

Prior to the incident at the League, Hegemon Wessich commented on the deteriorating Oster-Atnaian relations, referring to it as "saddening" and "disappointing". He accused Oster politicians of "fanning the fires of negative public sentiment" and said that the Quorum "will continue to review all options". According to FNN commentator on international relations, Laara Brohnt, the recent "nuclear subsidies" announced by Quorum are a moderate Atnaian "retaliation" against the Oster claims.

Meanwhile, a surge of condemnations of Atnaia by Western Isles nations has caught the news. One after the other, Athara Magarat, Corindia, Covonant, and Polar Svalbard denounced "human rights abuses" such as the debtor's camps and the gladiator games. The Atnaian government responded to the surge, calling it a "deliberate campaign of misinformation" and "a targeted attack" on Atnaian identity. In Ostehaar, hundreds of activists are expected to protest in front of the Atnaian embassy in Porohare tomorrow, for the 5th weekend in a row.

GOVERNMENT REVEALS CONTENT OF RECENT OSTEHAAR-KEVERAI TALKS; DFO TO AID KEVERAI IN BORDER-DEFENSE

Minister of Foreign Affairs Elena Brahurer commented today on rumors regarding minister-level talks between Ostehaar and Keverai. Brahurer confirmed the reports and spoke about the outcome of these talk. "Given the sensitive nature of some of the issues at hand, we preferred to avoid discussing this until now," the Minister said, "but I am glad to announce that we have reached some agreements that should eventually benefit both sides."

The Oster-Keveran agreements, as detailed in an official government press release, include economic and energy-related cooperation, establishment of a second Oster consulate in Keverai, and a three-year aid plan for boosting Keveran border defenses. "Keverai acknowledges the Oster expertise in the field of electronic detection instruments, and the value of our experience in development of defense-related products," Minister Brahurer said today. Around 50 DFO specialists and advisers are expected to operate in Keverai with local authorities on installing advanced border-defense instruments and teaching the Keveran border-guard how to use them. "Ostehaar will supply this service voluntarily for the first year, after which a formal contract for the remaining two years will be signed."

'LAND DEAL': RDF SPOKESMAN ACCUSES INVESTIGATION COMMITTEE OF "OVERREACHING"

RDF spokesman Eran Soherger, in his first public appearance since the special investigation committee's request to access personal files of RDF directors, lashed out at the committee yesterday and accused it of "overreaching". Head of the investigation committee, Kala Sjvaher, commented on his words today, stating that she is "only trying to uncover the full truth" about the so-called 'land deal'. "We have already found evidence of misconduct in the organization last week, and that led Soherger to announce that the off-shore accounts we learned about were personal accounts and not RDF-affiliated accounts," Sjvaher said, "so we asked to see specific information from personal files in order to verify these claims."

A QUIET WEEK IN LOVSK: NO SIGNIFICANT INCIDENTS

The past week has seen no significant incidents in Lovsk, for the first time since the beginning of the recent outbreak of violence on the island. Several local protests and riots have taken place on Sunday and Thursday in and around Rovka - five Lovskians and two DFO soldiers were wounded in one of them. Last week 9 people, including 2 DFO soldiers, were killed in a terrorist attack at a checkpoint.

INTERNATIONAL: An early Christmas present has come for cynical Ahnslens
Arnton, Ainslie

Christmas has arrived for those among us who are suspicious of businesses. There’s an early gift for you. Arendai International can confirm that through unauthorised access achieved by a confidential source, that companies have been using a subsidiary of international law firm GarlandCleggetKruse (GCK) to avoid additional taxations by moving some profits into Keveraite bank accounts, most notably long term savings accounts that receive tax concessions in the nation. This results in an understanding of profits, resulting in less tax paid.

Jessica Garland, a senior partner of GCK denied the claims, stating that
“there was no concrete evidence or facts to back up this so called discovery. Our clients and our employees work within the boundaries of the law and we have nothing that violates Ahnslen law.”
This claim is in the face of growing pressure on the Ahnslen government to further investigate the claims.

Arendai can confirm that our colleagues at FNN and CBC also have access to the documents, with Darene Madara, a local news organisation, receiving them shortly for verification and further investigation.

Dean Harney, Chief Executive Officer of Arendai International confirmed that he had read the documents and is “dismayed at the disregard of morality that the businesses implicated here have demonstrated.

For legal reasons, the names of the businesses implicated cannot be disclosed at this point in time.

DOMESTIC: Arborai innovates with new reverse vending machines, relaxed private bin usage laws in an effort to increase recycling
Arborai, Ainslie

The Norlandic Electoral Government today revealed that they will relax laws surrounding waste management in an effort to clean waterways. Norlands is one of the most urbanised electorates that dwell near the coast. Between the lake which borders Verdon, a river system in the central north and various inlets on the Morrie Coast, there is a significantly higher chance that human waste will end up in waterways, and ultimately the ocean.

Melade Rekane, current electoral representative, unveiled the new legislation and initiatives. The Arborai Region of Councils, which encompasses almost five million residents within its borders was the first to sign onto a new agreement which solidifies local and electoral cooperation on these new initiatives. Most notably, new reverse vending machines will be in full operation by December 15th, the end of Term Four for many Norlandic schoolkids.

Local waste management contractors expressed their support for the move stating that it was “disturbing to see waste in the waterways of Arborai even after we leave our jobs for the day”. The Chief Mayor of Arborai today joined in solidarity in these workers, noting that they are “essential components of the system and their place and role in society is not forgotten but rather praised”. Following a very positive response in Norlands, Loverd and Dallama voiced their concerns at this “unilateral” move which was not brought to the Electoral Council. Arendai would like to clarify that electoral governments do not need to bring ideas to the Electoral Council that only apply in their nation.

The Loverdian and Dallaman Governments protested the move, stating it would make an unfair advantage for Norlandic businesses and that it ‘surprised’ them. Additionally, there will be new regulations surrounding recycling (yellow) bins. If homeowners place a yellow bin adjacent to the pathway, they are no longer automatically liable for its contents. Passers by will now be allowed to put recyclable items into these bins as well.

The Federal Government today noted that it will “look into the Norlandic proposal and weigh up the benefits and consequences of implementing their plans nationwide and make a decision regarding it in the near future”.

General Assembly begins Christmas recess
Controversial gambling bill put on hold after month-long stall

Lawmakers in the Chamber of Representatives conclude procedural business before adjournment is announced

ELLSBURGH- Today, the Senate and Chamber of Representatives met in their separate halls to conclude last-minute procedural business before the long-awaited Christmas recess. Deputy President John Napier, as Head of the General Assembly, called both houses together at 2:30 PM central time to deliver the formal announcement of adjournment. The General Assembly is expected to reconvene on January 12 to begin its 2018 session.

The adjournment brings a temporary end to the fierce and well-publicized battle over the Gambling Legalization Act, introduced to the Senate on November 11 by Senator Logan Cooks (N-Eban Island). The Act was considered a centerpiece of the National Party's legislative program for the first year of President Swinton's term. Should it pass, it would legalize gambling in Aprania, banned since 1955, and would set the legal age limit at 20. A whopping 60% of money exchanged in gambling allowed under the GLA would be collected by the government. Fiscal experts say the proposed legislation would bring in as much as S$3 billion a year but despite this fact the GLA has faced heavy criticism from the Conservative Party and its ally in the Assembly, the Aprania First Party. Several Christian advocacy groups and the Center for Moral Development have also spoken out against the bill.

After passing in the Senate, the GLA stalled in the Chamber, where the National Party commands only a tenacious majority. The Chamber voted 290-274 on December 4 to send the bill to the President, but it was discovered that a technical mistake in the bill's language forced a revote. A group of National Party representatives led by Margaret Storkus (N-Mesderia) and Bill Trustie (N-Vascon) introduced riders to the bill before the second vote. It faltered and on December 6 was rejected 284-280. Senator Cooks and his colleague Dean Michel (N-Abrium) reintroduced the bill in the Senate and it was passed again on December 13.

The final vote in the Chamber was scheduled for Sunday, but it was postponed that morning until after the conclusion of the Christmas recess. It is expected to be discussed when the Assembly reconvenes in January, during which time they will mainly be concerned with the passing of the government's 2018 budget. Senate Speaker Henry Lee (N-New Vancouvia) told reporters that he is "confident in the ability of our colleagues in the Chamber to pass this legislation", while a request for comment by Chamber leadership received no response.

A large protest outside Assembly Hall, organized by the CMD and Christians Against Gambling, is scheduled for the 26th. Multiple requests for comment have been declined, although the Capital Police has cordoned off a large section of Independence Green to allow the demonstration to go ahead.
