Overview:
The Vygelas aþ’Tesoro (Guards of the Treasury) is a Kouralian law enforcement agency which is technically controlled by the Office of the Treasury, but is de facto the responsibility of HM Principal Justiciar of State for Mainland Affairs. The Vygelas is among the oldest law enforcement organisations in Kouralia as it derives its lineage from the Treasury Guard Legions of the old Kurtonian Army which were responsible for guarding the capital and government. It is responsible for combating a number of serious crimes, both through impressive intelligence analysis processes and wide ranging operational divisions. Among the areas which fall under its purview rather than that of local territorial watches are: serious and organised crime, cross border crime, immigration and smuggling, maritime defence, cybercrime, serious fraud, and terrorism/offences against the state. Its Maritime Patrol Division possesses literally thousands of airframes and hulls to patrol Kouralia's territorial waters, including the inland sea of the Gulf of Ino.

Alizeria has 19 uniformed civilian police departments, in addition to the Special Branch and the Highway Patrol. Each police force is administered and organised by the County Council, with funding distributed to the Counties from the central government in proportion to population. However, all police departments have the authority to make arrests outside of their jurisdiction, as the division of the police forces is mainly to do with funding and administration. All police forces must ultimately report to the National Police Commissioner, who is in turn responsible to the Home Secretary.

The Highway Patrol branch operated nationwide and works closely with the County Police Forces, while the Special Branch is responsible for nationwide investigation of criminal activity, such as organised crime, and also works closely with His Royal Majesty's Customs Service. Police in Alizeria are armed only with pepper spray and batons. The Special Branch is the only branch of the police that possesses an arsenal of firearms, but may only carry firearms with the express permission of the Prime Minister of Alizeria or Cabinet.

In Zarnazia the police force is extremely militarized, to the point where both the military and police seem to be nearly identical in the form of equipment, and vehicles used seem nearly identical, this is shown when police will often use equipment that even some modern military's cannot compete with how expensive and practical the weapons and tools used are. Police will often use vehicles that are both armored and very fast in order to stop criminals who use land vehicles to get away, the police are even equipped with jet's and assault helicopters to use in they case that they need to, (Which is extremely, extremely, rare).

IMVIZHKAN NATIONAL POLICE - A DEPARTMENT OF THE MINISTRY OF PUBLIC ORDER

Image

The Imvizhkan National Police is the largest and most major law enforcement agency in the Federal Republic, numbering over 950,000 employees. It has jurisdiction throughout the entire country, and is responsible for maintaining public safety, enforcing the law and arresting offenders.

The National Police is generally considered a competent and professional force; it has good relations with the public and after undergoing major reforms in the 1970s, late 1990s, and 2012, the force was further modernized and improved. Tourists to Imvizhk report that officers are helpful and friendly to foreigners, especially those attempting to navigate major cities.

Persons who wish to join the National Police must attend to the following requirements:

- Be at least 21 years old by time of appointment, be in good health and physical condition;
- Have attained a Secondary School Certificate and have achieved passing grades in Reading, Writing and Government Studies;
- Must pass a Police Suitability Exam, which contains a basic IQ test and a personality and psychological profile examination;
- Must not have ever been convicted of a felony or violent misdemeanor
- Must have an acceptable driving record with no pattern of recklessness or accidents
- Must be willing and able to carry a firearm; must pass and maintain a rigorous firearm qualification throughout their career.

After an initial suitability interview, the applicant will be directed to attend the National Police College, where they will attend a two-year course in policing studies. While at the College, trainees hold the rank of "Student Officer" and receive a small salary in addition to uniforms, room, board and textbook materials. After final examinations and graduation, they are officially sworn in and begin their careers.

The National Police exist as a two-tier system of public protection; the other being the Federal Security Service. While the National Police is tasked with law enforcement and crime prevention, the Security Service's primary job is to protect the public from terrorism, serious violent crime and public disorder. Therefore, the average National Police officer is lightly armed and merely expected to defend themselves and others from run-of-the-mill criminals.

For example, the National Police will obviously intervene in the case of an armed bank robbery; however, should the situation turn into a hostage situation or shootout, the Security Service would assume responsibility. Any case involving organized crime (the "Mafia") or offenses outside Imvizhkan jurisdiction are also turned over to the Security Service.

All officers carry a local copy of the Walther PPK, known as the Dzyemvy Pistole O.64. The weapon has an 8-round magazine and fires the 9mm Luger cartridge. Hollowpoint rounds are used and officers carry 1 or 2 extra magazines, depending on personal choice.

All officers also carry a truncheon and an X26 Taser.
