Firearms laws are relatively lax in Cosparia, largely to make participation in the citizens' militia easier. There are very few basic rules in regards to gun ownership:
1. Be at least 18 years of age.
2a. Have no outstanding criminal record (i.e. no federal offenses, such as a firearms violation, domestic assault, etc.)
2b. A permit to purchase is optional to acquire so the permit holder does not have to go through a background check for every purchase. The permit is simply shown as proof of being compliant with the purchase requirements.
3. Select a firearm and pay the store owner.

There are no separate requirements for the carry of firearms, and to see a handgun or rifle carried openly is not an uncommon sight. It's generally considered that any "bad apples" will be weeded out by other more lawful weapons owners and militia members, though considering Cosparian culture's strong emphasis on honor and integrity, such unsavory types are fairly rare.

Ownership of fully-automatic firearms is technically legal, however they are only accessible to draftees who have completed their 400 days of service.

To be eligible in New Envoi to own a firearm you must:

• be 18+ years of age
• have no criminal record
• have never have been involuntarily commited into a psychiatric hospital
• have finished the mandatory military service
• register for firearms license

The firearms license simply registers you as a firearms owner. This usually takes only a few days when the individual has finished military service. However if the individual does not attend the mandatory military service either because of perusing higher education, injury etc. then the firearms license requires them to take a firearms safety course, psychological tests, and firearms competency test along with paying a fee of 100 Euros. After this they will receive their license in the mail in the following weeks.

The license must be renewed every 3 years. Renewal consists of a practical test that makes sure that the individual can still safely handle a firearm and a physiological test.

There are no restrictions on firearm type and class if the individual has finished military training. All firearms and destructive devices must be registered. Anything with a projectile diameter including and larger than 20mm is considered a destructive device. Hand grenades and any other weapon that pertain explosive properties are considered a destructive device. Anything that fires a projectile that is powered by a rocket or other propulsion method (ie. rocket launchers, RPGs, etc.) are banned. Fully automatic weapons/suppressors/destructive devices are legal, but require the individual to go to a police station to have on their firearms license marked that they own a fully automatic weapon/suppressor/destructive device along with paying a fee of 50 Euros.
Individuals that have not done the mandatory military service and banned from owning fully automatic weapons and destructive devices. These individuals must also pay for a 100 Euro tax stamp for each firearm they wish to purchase.

Open carry is legal everywhere except for government buildings and school grounds. While open carrying the weapon must not be brandished and must not be ready to fire (magazine out of the weapon). Concealed carry is legal everywhere except for government buildings. Concealed carry requires a concealed carry license, which is free but requires the individual applying to take a CC course and a psychological test.

There are lots of both free public and paid private ranges across New Envoi and the government actively encourages the citizens to go out and practice shooting, as a large amount of the citizens are reservists. Shooting is considered a sport. Before being discharged from military service, each individual is offered the option for them to keep their service rifle, a FN FAL chambered in 7.62x51, with all the necessary paperwork filled out. Most take the rifle.

Everyone can buy guns as long as they are not in jail or prison. Age is nothing but a number and it's arbitrary to have age restrictions for anything.

Guns, swords and knives are a common part of the every day carry of Imperial citizens, humans or otherwise. This is a necessity as unfriendly Xenofungus, malignant robots, Orkoids and a variety of threats could make planetfall. Citizens are able to buy ancient slugthrowers (rare), laser weapons, plasma, ACP guns, nucleon charge weapons, magma capsule guns and a variety of other ranged weaponry. The bow and arrow, crossbow and throwing knives are still commonly used. Currently, humans have evolved to be larger and stronger than in previous generations due to years of selective breeding, and designer babies which makes high draw weight bows a viable choice for hunting large avian fauna. Old models of tanks, mechs, wet navy ships and space ships are available for civilian use as they are no longer viable in warfare and could aid in defense of a planet.

Military weapons utilize more powerful versions of civilian weapons and are prohibited by regular civilians. Veterans are allowed to keep their armor and weapons. Due to many of the GTE population serving in the military, this usually isn't a problem. The few military grade weapons in circulation often end up in the hands of rebels. Police also have access to military grade weaponry, although they have the training to match.

Firearms can be procured in Kuzag if one is a citizen, meets the age requirement of 20 or above, is clear of mental illnesses and has a clean crime record. Certifications for all these must be given during acquisition of firearms.

Or you go to a gun store web site on the internet and purchase one, and PhEDex or PhUPS shows up at your door with a shipping box a few days later.

If you're a military veteran, you go to any major gun store, military surplus store, or military firearms site, give them your military ID number and show your driver's license, and you can buy any current military weapon except for WMDs.

To buy a gun, you must possess Gun Licence (Zbrojní průkaz/Waffenschein), issued by Police - you need to go through psychological test, theoretical and practical test. Applicants are supposed to have clean criminal code.

Gun licences are issued for gun categories A,B,C:
A - Restricted to special groups
- full automatic firearms, military firearms and ammunition not inspected and marked for civilian use, some types of ammunition such as armor-piercing and incendiary ammunition, night vision scopes, suppressors and gun mounted laser pointers
- gun licence allowed only for very special purposes (collecting, providing security for special or dangerous shipments)
B - Guns requiring purchase permit
- semi automatic and single or multiple shot handguns, revolvers, semi automatic rifles and shotguns with magazine capacity over 3 rounds or with a detachable magazine, semi automatic "military" style rifles, rim-fire firearms under 280 mm of length and all shotguns under 600 mm of length, flare guns with caliber larger than 16mm
- gun licence is issued together with purchase permit for one gun of certain type, valid for 12 months (one citizen can hold more permits at one time)
C - Guns requiring registration
- single shot or bolt action rifles longer than 280 mm, shotguns, semi-automatic rifles not included in B, air rifles with muzzle energy over 16 J and black powder repeaters
- only registration on Police
D - Available without registration
- air guns with muzzle energy up to 16 J, mechanical guns with kinetic energy from 150 N, replicas, airsoft guns, vintage firearms manufactured prior to 1890, expansion guns and .22 CB cap

Categories of gun licences are:
A - Firearm collection (no carry, ammunition limited to max. 3 pcs per one gun, 18+, A,B,C)
B - Sport shooting (concealed carry, 15+, B,C)
C - Hunting (concealed carry, 15+, B,C)
D - Exercise of a profession (open carry, 15+, A,B,C)
E - Self-defense (open carry, 18+, B,C)
