Real Azuris wins the Super Cup.

Updated coëfficients are now available.

The entry limits for the next season of UICA competition will be as follows:
Champions’ Cup 67: The number of teams allowed is determined according to association coëfficients, with the following distribution:
  • Associations ranked 1–3 (Nephara, Eura, and Capitalizt SLANI) are allowed to enter four teams.
  • Associations ranked 4–6 (Audioslavia, Brenecia, and Farfadillis) are allowed to enter three teams.
  • Associations ranked 7–33 (Valanora, Mertagne, San José Guayabal, Cosumar, Unified Sunrise Islands, Pasarga, Turori, 95X, Ceni, Zwangzug, Osarius, Taeshan, New Gelderland, Valladares, Electrum, Vilita, Port Christopher, Jasĭyun, Schottia, Semarland, Association francophone, Royal Kingdom of Quebec, Eastfield Lodge, Starblaydia, Dainer, Whirl Islands, and Capivara Group) are allowed to enter two teams.
  • Associations ranked 34 and below, and unranked associations, are allowed to enter one team.
  • Special considerations:
    • Real Azuris and Ulsa are assured places in the Champions’ Cup. If either fails to qualify through their domestic league, their association will receive an additional place. If either qualifies for the Globe Cup, their Globe Cup place will be vacated.
    • Élite League: Has six places. Capitalizt SLANI must enter at least three teams and another association at least one.
    • V-League, Terranean League: Each has four places, which must be filled by at least two different associations.
    • I-League, Liga Calania: Each has three places, which must be filled by at least two different associations.
    • FLCS: Has two places, which must be filled by different associations.
    • Because the Élite League has three associations ranked in the top 32, and may register only two of them as primary associations, 33rd-ranked Capivara Group is allotted a second place in the Champions’ Cup.
Globe Cup 64: Every association is allowed to enter three teams. Multiassociational leagues with two primary associations may enter six teams, of which no more than four may be from the same association; associations ranked 1–3 (including Capitalizt SLANI) must enter at least two teams each, and associations ranked 4–12 must enter at least one team each.
Series B Champions’ Cup 64: Every association is allowed to enter three teams. Multiassociational leagues with two primary associations may enter six teams, of which no more than four may be from the same association.
Youth Cup 19: Every association is allowed to enter one team. (The youth teams of clubs which reach the Champions’ Cup group stage will also be entered.) Multiassociational youth leagues with two primary associations may enter two teams, which must be from different associations.

Bidding is now open for a UICA Partner for seasons 68–75, which will be the primary sponsor of the Super Cup. The following is required to submit a bid:
  • The name of the bidding company or product, preferably a single word or acronym.
  • The company or product’s logo/wordmark, as it would appear in the sponsorship logo. This logo/wordmark must be black on a transparent background, in SVG or PNG format, and as large as possible, but must be distinguishable at the size at which it will ultimately be used.
  • If the company has a storefront forum thread, a link to that thread.
Bids should be posted in this thread. Companies from Damukuni, Paripana, San José Guayabal, Valladares, and Whirl Islands are ineligible to bid. Renewal of the existing contract with Tropicorp will automatically be considered.

Who will be the next Laborious Hawk*, Simeone de Bradini, or Val Kylx? [Actually, Laborious Hawk is still the Laborious Hawk and will probably be the next one, too]

Boldsport Magazine, proud purveyor of shoddy sports journalism since about last April, brings you the first in what is sure to be the global phenomenon of the Boldsports Sports Writers Awards for the greatest football players in the universe: The Galacticos Index.

Boldsport Editor-in-Chief, Izzy Worthette:

“Here we all are, gathered at the Royal Polarian Hotel up on Herring Island just north of Spittalsea, a day after the UICA Champions Cup 66 Final - congratulations to Real Azuris for a remarkable and thrilling win - and the time has come to announce the winners of the awards for player of the cycle, team of the cycle and young player of the cycle.

“Since a prestigious award of this magnitude is bound to attract the attention of big clubs to the lucky few who have been nominated for the awards, we have on hand football agent, dealmaker and notorious fixer Ezra Carp to analyse the market and the potential demands an agent - I mean a player - could make to jump into the transfer market. No doubt he’ll be talking up the market and touting for clients if he’s not busy so let’s keep an eye on him and his table of sheik friends over there, who look Gadiryan but certainly don’t sound it when you get up close to them. We also have television pundit Kirtland Straw here from our satellite television partner Spudnix Sports to recap some of the achievements of the nominees we have on the card tonight.

“It has been an exhaustive process to get to this point and the journalists who make up the panel of sports writers have followed no less than 224 players across the top of the game from 30-odd nations and 27 of the best clubs in world football. Since it would take all night just to list them all out, members of the audience here tonight have been provided with the ‘Longlonglist’ in their programmes.

“Kirtland, there are a lot of familiar faces on there of course, but any surprises?”

Kirtland Straw, Broadcaster, Spudnix Sports:

“Well I think the transfer of the Mercedinian military sergeant Sam Billic to Myrmidon in Ceni caught us all by surprise and they have done it again by sneaking in on this list - clearly we’ve got a bit of a rising star on our hands here with this one. A few youngsters made it onto the list despite not being first choice at their clubs - I’d cite Morris Morrison and Norberto Longes at Avenida Leal as examples - but clearly the wise guys on the voting panel are impressed with youth talent and want to acknowledge that, which will do wonders for their profile and marketability.”

Ezra Carp, super-agent:

“That’s right Kirtland. You look at young Roddy Fraser going to AFC Treason last season for 40 million green - crazy money, we all know that, but that sets the market value, doesn’t it? Clubs will think they might cash in and they’d be right - appearing on this longlonglist will easily put an extra 2.5 million clams on their price tag, and these youngsters won’t go for under 7.5 million now, I’d say.”

Izzy Worthette:

“And so onto the longlist, whittled down to the best thirty-eight players in the multiverse in the last cycle, although of course the locals will wonder why Tuw Turk didn’t make it.

The longlist, in alphabetical order, is as follows:”

Ezra Carp:

“Clubs are going to have to pay top dollar to secure the services of one of these gems, Izzy. I’m talking about one and a half times the current average ‘high fee’. I’ve studied the transfer market in the last window and if you take the top ten highest transfer fees paid last time around, you’re looking at an average of 19.3 million moula. So I’m suggesting clubs looking to buy from the longlist will probably not get anyone lower than 29 million notes from this lot - minimum!

“Oh, and I must say, at this point - mostly highly over-rated player of the last cycle? It’s tough on the lad but look at Lucjusz Stef from Chromatika: he was unattached and Mar Sara paid 12.5 million spondoolies for his services - 12.5 million! To nobody! For an unattached player!”

Kirtland Straw:

“You’ve probably devalued him by about 70% there, Ezra…”

Izzy Worthette:

“We move now to the exciting bit of the evening when we begin to whittle down our candidates towards the prizes. First, I’m proud to present the Galacticos Index Team of The Cycle sponsored by the highly sought-after watch maker Schu-Tallinger of Reselia. Each player selected for the Best Eleven plus seven subs will receive a highly valuable collectors item platinum Schu-Tallinger timepiece as well, I’m sure, as renewed terms on their contract.

“The Boldsport Galacticos Team of The Cycle is as follows:”

Image
Subs:
Drê Röènôùjýâ;
Sean Fraser, Laborious Hawk, Deirdre McNessa;
Täjó Çíânflöné, Pedrinho, Andrew Arrowsword

“All the big hitters in there, Ezra - how much would it cost to put that team together, do you think?”

Ezra Carp:

“For that Galactico XI? We’d be talking astronomical prices, Izzy. Every one of those players is going to fetch more than the top price paid this time around - that was a cool 40 million bones for Roddy Fraser and for Hannah Alcouin’s unexpected move to Crawford City - they must be rolling in it, and ambitious too to lure a world cup champion to an unranked UICA side: watch for them over the next couple of seasons. If they’re going to spend big, I’d want to be in there with my stable of players, for sure. Anyway, I think prices for the band of eleven would go something like one and a half times the top dollar price; you’re looking 43 million readies minimum for any of these eleven, I’m sure of it, and 35 for the subs - at least.”

Izzy Worthette:

“And so to the shortlist for the player of the cycle. This is where we get to the real nitty gritty - thirty-eight becomes six. And the nominees, in alphabetical order, are:”

Andrew Arrowsword	18	ST	CEN	Real Azuris
Roddy Fraser 20 ST AUD AFC Treason
Ilglerdiriel Lithvathar 733 AML VAL Raynor City United
Pedrinho 31 ST VLD Directus
Adnan Szalai 26 MR NPH Ulsa
Rodolfo Zelaya 31 CF SJG 1830 Cathair FC

Ezra Carp:

“Arrowsword’s contribution to his side’s sensational Champions Cup victory gets him on the short-list and I’m hardly surprised. He and Fraser are two young sensations who are going to dominate world football for years to come. The other four are household names already of course and it’s difficult to separate them. It will be difficult to separate them from their clubs too - inflation for these six on the Galacticos Shortlist means we’ll be talking silly money here - one and a half times the astronomical prices we were talking about before. Don’t expect to land any of these diamonds for less than 65 million nicker.”

Izzy Worthette:

“Talking of young sensations, let’s move on to the Boldsport Young Player of the Cycle, sponsored by NomNom world famous confectioners - because sometimes, sour sugar is good for you. With a number of young players competing right at the top of the sport already, this was a difficult and tightly-contested affair. And the winner of a lifetimes’ supply of sugar toucans and chocolate toads is…”

.
.Roddy Fraser

Kirtland Straw:

“As Rodraig Fraser stepped up to take Audioslavia's fourth penalty of the World Cup semi-final shoot-out, he probably wasn't thinking to himself 'hey, if I can score this, my country will have been in 11.8% of all World Cup Final games ever'.

What's more likely to have been going through the player's mind, however, is something along the lines of ‘crikey o’reilly’.

Whether or not Fraser was thinking about the weight of history, he scored Audioslavia's winning penalty with all the confidence and ease of a man who seemed to know which way the goalie was going to dive before he even took the penalty. Fraser's celebration, more relieved than anything else, showed just how far the young striker has come since his incident-ridden international debut last year. The boy has become the man.”

Izzy Worthette:

“Err, Kirtland, are you quoting Jeremy Jaffacake there?”

Kirtland Straw:

“Well, that’s fair attribution, I suppose…”

Izzy Worthette:

“And so we come to the final presentation of the evening - the Boldsport Galactico Player of the Cycle, sponsored by legendary dealers in precious objects, The Nomarque Mint of Taxhavn, who are providing the winner of this prestigious award with the equally presitgious prize of NothingTM - for the man, woman or person of indeterminate gender who has everything.

“It has been twenty-three years since the last issue of the Nomarque Mint. And now, at last, they present our finest creation to date: Orbis Vacuume, the latest in a legendary line of Product No.1’s by the world famous Mint. 134.373924 millilitres of purest hard vacuum encased in a 3mm Adamant shell of 65.4mm diameter and an impossible 103.36% purity; nowhere in the entire multiverse will you find such extraordinary refinement, polished to a near frictionless 0.1255mu.

“And, naturally, it is beautiful beyond any useful scale of measurement.

“But there can be only one Supreme Galactico or player of the cycle (mainly because we could only afford one Orbis Vacuume) and finally we are at the point where we can reveal them. But first, there must be honourable mentions for the close runners-up. In third place…”

.
.
Ilglerdiriel Lithvathar

Kirtland Straw:

“At 733 years old, the elfin winger at mighty Raynor City United is no spring chicken by any measure but continues to impress at the very highest level, and just completed a fine season. Winner of a Champions Cup medal the previous season, Lithvathar is dynamic in attack but with enough speed and sense of the pitch to make up on any sort of defensive lapse. She is not nearly as skilled as some of her United team-mates, but do not let that fool you, in a moment of magic she can undress an entire backline and set up more prolific scorers with easy chances… and yes, for the record, that’s a quote too.”

Izzy Worthette:

“In second place, and what a magnificent rise to the top of world football it has been in such a short space of time…”

.
.
Roddy Fraser

Kirtland Straw:

“With a World Cup runners-up medal and a Champions Cup semi-final medal in this last cycle you could be forgiven for thinking young Roddy is a bit of a nearly man - and in some sense you would be right: he’s an Audioslav after all. So no surprise he has come second in the Galactico Index; but let’s not forget the lad is only 20. He has the world at his feet and I’m sure we’ll see him collect plenty of gongs or empty balls or whatever it is you're giving out in the future.”

Izzy Worthette:

“And so, finally, ladies, gentlemen, persons of indeterminate gender, gender-irrelevant children and anthropomorphic creatures of the more distant corners of the multiverse - the winner of the Boldsport Galactico Player of the Cycle is:”

.
.
Adnan Szalai

Kirtland Straw:

“Adnan Szalai, the Ulsa wide midfielder, is deservedly labelled the best player in the multiverse, with his searing runs down the right, a mazy unpredictability and a street-footballer's way of going through people either to cross, pass or score himself - that’s what I read in the Brinemouth Herald, and I can’t disagree with that. Winning the midfield player of the season in Eura for his contribution to the Ulsa cause, he starred in the team that won the Globe Cup in Audioslavia and will surely go on to greater glory on the international stage.

Ezra Carp:

“He will surely also lead Ulsa to greater glory in club football Kirtland, not just because they are a fine team who will always compete at the very pinnacle of club football, but because no-one could afford to prise him away. Buying the Galactico will be a Galacti-con, I should think: he’s probably worth about one and a half times more than the silly money you’d have to spend on the Galactico shortlisters - so I think we’d be looking at an impossible bid of around 98 million frogskins or even into nine figures, if that’s even possible. People may laugh now, but seriously - I can’t see him going for less at the moment.”

Izzy Worthette:

“And that concludes the Boldsport Galactico World Player of the Multiverse for the present cycle. It only leaves me to assure the audience that Ezra Carp’s estimations of the world transfer market are entirely his own and clubs can spend whatever the hell they like on players during the appropriate windows. In a related note, and conversely, Kirtland Straw’s opinions are entirely not his own and come from quotes he has read on the International Domestic Soccer Newswires and in World Cup forum threads.

“We’re all off to paint the town a modest shade of green. Any complaints about the final decisions should be directed to spamfolder@boldsport.oi.

For those who are interested, there was method to this madness. Taking top 20 UICA teams, top 10 national teams, loads of searches, marking down RP comments, looking at transfers, and coming to some form of RP bonus scoring led to the result you see here. Not very scientific but based on what I could see and read. The lesson for future galacticos: get a move to a top UICA club that does a lot of newswire posts… other nations RPing about your stars counts double… the count begins again after the Cygnus Cup final.

Procedural Note: The entries of Rookscroft United (Brigantii) and FC Olimpia Solimán (San José Guayabal) were accepted in spite of the fact that either FA failed to meet the conditions for entry (OOC: providing full scorination evidence for at least the last three rounds of their domestic cup). Failure to comply with this requirement will result in the exclusion of their associations' entries for next season.

Welcome one and all to the forty-first edition of the Cup Winners' Cup, brought to you by the Valladar Football Association. This edition of the competition will see 35 clubs from 34 associations participate, an increase of three clubs and three associations from the last edition, with Raynor City United entering as Cup Winners' Cup titleholders after failing to qualify through the Vanorian domestic cup system. With 35 clubs taking part in this edition, the cup winners from the six lowest ranked associations in the latest UICA coëfficients will play a preliminary round, with the 3 winners joining the titleholders and the other 28 cup winners in the first round proper, from where the competition will be played in a straight knockout format. Defending champions Raynor City United are heavily favoured to win this competition once again, however clubs like Pasarga's Tanrısal and Celtic Noviodunum from New Gelderland look as strong threats to the Vanorians in this edition. So here we go with the draws:

Preliminary Round and First Round Proper Draw

Preliminary Round Draw
Twoson City (HKI) vs. Langlois Océanic (KSK)
Reform (HSZ) vs. Moose Jaw Taxidermists (DRC)
Rhaegal Athletic (DGI) vs. New Llama Capitals (SLL)

First Round Proper Draw
Guilder (BRE) vs. Olympique Charmat (GAD)
FC Olimpia Solimán (SJG) vs. Real Azuris (COS)
Mierton Manatees (TAE) vs. Grenville Sailors (ETM)
Medoria Löwen (COM) vs. Fort Roy SC (AVN)
Celtic Noviodunum (NGD) vs. Reform (HSZ) or Moose Jaw Taxidermists (DRC)
Sporting Ayacucho (WRL) vs. Montreal Koreana (QUE)
Selyne Athenians (USI) vs. Florence Boldclub (BSE)
Minigoleada (DAI) vs. Club ESF (VAL)
Real Jabuti (CPV) vs. Phalanx AF (CEN)
Eletti Valligiani (AUD) vs. Rhaegal Athletic (DGI) or New Llama Capitals (SLL)
Sabrefell Moths (NPH) vs. Alissar Phoenix (OSR)
Port Sebastian (SCT) vs. Twoson City (HKI) or Langlois Océanic (KSK)
Tanrısal (PAS) vs. Rookscroft City (BRG)
VLC FC (EFL) vs. Raynor City United (VAL)
Revolutionaries (EUR) vs. Suzuka Route 99ers (MZY)
Kionao Locals (TUR) vs. Metropolis Alligators (VLD)

Final Site Election

With the Cup Winners' Cup having its final site opened to bidding after last season's final in Krytenia, four FAs (Audioslavia, Ceni, Royal Kingdom of Quebec, and Turori) sent their respective offers within the deadline, and all of them were accepted even though the Audioslav bid was nearly rejected after members of the Organizing Committee got lost on the way to the stadium for the general inspection due to the lack of a proper location map in the bid's paperwork. Despite that impasse, the four bids all made it to the final voting, which was held at the Metropolis Zoo and was a short and straight-forward process thanks to the valuable collaboration from Coco the Elephant, the zoo's flagship mascot. Coco only had to choose one out of four large jars of water (each representing one of the bidders) to drink, and the chosen one would win the host vote. And thus, after some meditation and thought, Coco finally chose Jar Number 2, meaning that the forty-first Cup Winners' Cup final will be played at Cenial Halcyon National Stadium in Cenial, Ceni (cap. 85,000).

Campionato Esportiva XXIII - Final

At Skert Li Nzo Fáig, Ūto, Desert Province, Damukuni (45,000).

(BRE) Rozelle United 0-1 Alianza FC (SJG) (aet)

For the first time, a Damukunian venue hosts he final of the most prestigious tournament for clubs in Esportiva, the final now featured Rozelle United, from Brenecia against Alianza FC, of San José Guayabal. Both teams had made successful runs that conducted them to the end of the road, where only one can hold the trophy, we talk about Damukuni, home of the Skert Li Nzo Fáig. Compared to the last final, this one was more strategical than the last one, no one conceded during the first ninety minutes of game, splendid defensive game while the midfields have been busy dealing with an opportunity to pass the ball and generate chances to score. The decisive goal came at the Aggregated Extra Time and it was enough for the hopes of Alianza to win the title. Congratulations to the winners and commiserations to the runners-up.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • All the entries for the Campionato Esportivano di Campeones must use the acronym CEdC in their national qualifiers box in order to avoid missing nations for future editions of the Championship.
  • The entries deadline for the Campionato Esportivano di Campeones will be during the lapse of two or three weeks after UICA final, it's subject to change depending RL situations or another kind of issues.
  • Every association must submit two entries for the competition.

A Bid

Postby Drawkland » Fri Dec 23, 2016 5:58 pm

UICA Partner Bid: Super Cup
Image

CORPSWARE is the premier supplier of sporting equipment across Drawkland and many locations throughout Sonnel as well. Originally started as a branch of the massive national conglomerate of the Drawk Corps, CorpsWare soon grew to not only service the Drawk Corps, but many other sports teams all the way from the professional and national team level all the way down to the primary school levels, across all sorts of sports. The company specialized in production of materials, such as uniforms, shoes, play equipment, balls of various sorts, safety equipment, match referee garb and items, banners, field/court designs, logos, and has even been known to assist in the building of stadiums. Aside from production, CorpsWare also employs a group of designers who creatively design said produced equipment, although the company has been known to manufacture applicable equipment for other companies which lack the ability to produce themselves.
CorpsWare hopes to win the bid for the Super Cup sponsorship in order to bring greater awareness for its existence and also to make its name known for when it (hopefully) soon brings its services to the greater multiverse.

A final reminder also that all Rushmori nations only (including any and all puppets) will be able to submit their league champions only (or top ranked team in the event of multi-associational leagues of more than one Rushmori nation) for entry into the next CdC; this includes puppet leagues that don't submit to UICA. The submission period opened when Commerce Heights closed entries to the last UICA tournaments, and will close again when Commerce Heights closes entries to the next UICA tournaments. No invitations will be sent. You must indicate at the bottom of your league summary that you wish your league champion to take part, and I take no responsibility for missing it if you've only shown it in your table.

Keep your entries coming in for the next edition!

Zozi becomes the first Audioslavia squad to lift the AOCL, after seeing their friends in Mertagne make a habit of it the last decade. However with Mertagne fleeing from the international arena, a power vacuum was created, especially when the holders were unable to advance out of the group. Zozi had to scratch their way past the titans of Valanora in the Quarterfinals but showed their class in the Semifinal and the Final itself where Real Azuris showed their inexperience. All entrants into the next AOCL must have won their nation's league or be the highest placed team of their association in a multiassociation league, with the exception of AC Izotz Zubia who are guaranteed a spot in the next AOCL group stage. Should they fail to qualify directly, Audioslavia will be granted a second spot.

As the nation steps out from the international shadow, for the first time in their seven year history the Aa-Premier League would like to submit their results for the consideration of the international club competitions.

There wasn't much surprise, as the biggest club in the country swept to the league championship for the seventh year running. Will anyone take the title from Atlas? Ever? You'd be a fool to bet your karakums against them. We wish them all the best in their exploits during the coming international season! Or, more accurately, those of us that support Atlas do. Those that don't tend to hate them and probably wish them an incredibly painful first step onto the international stage. ABA, right?

With two of the brightest young center backs in Fasnacht and Trueblood the hope for a climb of the league is strong for the team in the upcoming years. Team Info Let us just say that Real Atlantea had a really bad season, because they did. That said it was really just a combination of not helpful things happening throughout the season preventing the side from finishing at its usual heights. That said the team still has one of the best overall lineups in the league and could be headed back to the top in the next season.

Championships: 54, 55, 56

Last Season Finish:1st
Team Info Taeshan City made it three straight championships behind a team that continues to play better than any other throughout Taeshan. The Miners had 7 points clear of second place at the end of the season and there is no reason there continued success shouldn’t be expected. The team is slowly aging and that may be there fatal flaw, but this season may not be the end of their Atlantean esque run.

Tintown Terrapins

Championships:30
Other Accolades: Fadron Pizza Cup Winners 26
Last Season Finish:14th
Team Info Tintown has seen 25 seasons pass since their lone Premier League title and if the last season is any sign they are not returning to that height anytime soon. That said with a strong midfield pairing of U21 hopefuls Randall Abl Bakr and Wallace Kepler the team may soon be on the rise.

Williams Isle

Ground: The Haberdashery (85,000)

Nickname(s): Islanders
Offseason Moves: Promoted youth squad midfielder Michael Foster.
Last Season Finish: 16th
Championships:
Team Info Williams Isle continues to be a strong middle of the road Premier League side which if you ask their fans is pretty much enough for the side. As for their future prospects, they don’t seem to have much beyond staying out of the relegation zone and not being a rather attractive side to watch.

X Island Marauders

Other Accolades:
Last Season Finish:9th
Team Info X Island was so close to seeing international play at the end of last season but ultimately couldn’t seal the deal. This year they have gained some new attacking talent but really are still missing the cutting edge you would expect from a team fighting to be a top dog in the league.

Last Season Finish:6th
Team Info Yaton FC saw another strong season come and a close brush with international play falling short on goal differential after a last day tie saw them tied for fifth. The season saw the end of many players careers on the team and many youth stars were called up, five in total, coming off of Yaton’s third youth title.

Team Info Yaton United has returned to the top division after a strong performance in the second division that saw them two points ahead of FC Tenacity at the gong. That two points assured them the avoidance of the playoffs which so often hinders lower division teams chances at moving up the table.

After two years of being relatively quiet on the transfer market, Pasargan clubs decided to splash the cash to bring in some reinforcements from outside of the Dual Islands. Sardin United was the biggest mover, bringing in six players to their side in hopes to get out of the annual relegation dogfight that they seem to get caught up in, though most of the players look to be development projects. Perhaps the biggest shock of the window came when Lea Pabst was transferred out of CAP, despite the national team midfielder helping the Hurricane to win the title last season. Some may have seen her as excess to requirements at the talent rich club, but one has to wonder if losing her leadership will hurt the side in the short term as Tani looks as dangerous as ever to their position at the top.

Outside of the two major powers, Hellinic and Turkish both look like they are up for a run at the title, though one can never count out Baskita though, with the most successful capital club coming from out of nowhere at times to win the title. However Hellinic really seems to have the biggest and best chance of those who are not named CAP or Tani, with the leadership they have at the managerial position, as well as a veteran squad composed of talented players from across the world as well as some good domestic groomed players at their disposal. Do not be surprised to see the Spartans at or near the top of the table come the end of the season.

Looking at the other end of the table, one has to wonder just how Metz intends to survive at the top tier or if they are merely going to take their television money payout and be happy about it before falling back into the secon tier. While nabbing Quail might help mitigate some of the doubts surrounding the Targas club, they seem quite out of their element even when compared to Tyrysier and Evenfar, whom they were promoted with. Sardin United, Stilinkeep, and Lìjû all will have to do their due diligence if they want to avoid the other two drop spots and force the promoted teams back down to the SuperLiga 2, as all seem quite suspectable to falling out of the top tier. Though the season could have many different twists and turns, all of which will start next week when Tani plays CAP in the Copa Real and the season will get underway.

Season 1979

When things fall your way, they really seem to do, especially if you are Tani, who nearly did a quadruple this season as they marched to their fifth title in six seasons. Tani started the season off on the right foot when they beat CAP in Torgos in the Copa Real, from there on out, the Stein-los club battled back and forth with their titanic rivals for the right to become champions. However they had a very unexpected but profitable run in the Cygnus Cup, defeating Raynor City United among others to take the trophy home and become the first Pasargan side to do so. However they would be bested surprisingly in the Copa de La Luna Final by Peynol-Lunas, who get their first piece of silverware in quite awhile.

For CAP, it was a season of near misses, missing out on the title by two points, then falling short in the Copa de Campeones Final to their Euran opponents, failing to maintain their history of dominance in that arena, despite overcoming a shock 2-4 leg defeat in the semifinals to RGS Athletic. That makes the loss in the Final all the more gutwrenching and the fact that they failed to win a single trophy quite upsetting to those in the west end of the Pargis. The Hurricane will no doubt be looking to bounce back and in a big way next season, which likely signals further drops into the transfer market to try and grab that special player or two to get the side winning trophies on a consistent basis once more.

Rouge and Turkish both did well as one would have thought, finishing third and fourth respectively, just off the pace that Tani was setting through the season, however it is Baskita who will feel the most hard done by after securing a top five finish but seeing their spot in the Globe Cup slip away thanks to Peynol's victory in the Copa de La Luna. Duke of the North had a good bounce back season, as did Santos who climbed back into the upper half of the midtable and looked dangerous for a time. Though their success was marked by Galatica's sudden capitulation as the Galaticos were unable to get out of their own way this season with draw after draw and then seeing those draws turn into losses.

At the bottom, Metz put up quite a bit more fight than we gave them credit for, but ultimately they fell short by two points in their bid to survive and will be back down in SuperLiga 2 next season, as will Tyrysier and to many peoples' surprise, Lìjû. Lìjû just seemed to have the floor give way under them and were done in by the inability to secure wins at their home ground, something that Metz was able to do despite having a weaker side on paper. Coming straight back up from SuperLiga 2 after dropping last season is Riis, though they had to do so in the way of a playoff, while Mytos-Turin and Myrtha Dalin showed their class in the second tier and always looked like the two sides who would get the automatic promotion to the top tier. The test of course for all of them is if they can stay up, while the rest of the league battles for titles and Pasargan respect in the international stage, after Tani and Tyrysier both won a competition this season.

The "We Got Some Leagues" Edition

Offseason

After another World Cup came and went, it became fairly clear that the Alliance League needed to be rebranded, as Lupis Land disappeared in some weird cataclysmic event that somehow involved a llama and the number 7. After failing to come to a functioning system, the Alliance League split into two leagues; The Garsian League and the Northern Remorovian League. This choice was made for the teams, as they would have to fly over the entirety of Arkan to get to the other. The CONRAGAF (Confederation of Northern Remorov, Arkan, and Garsia Athletic Football) decided that, along with the Alliance League being split into two, with the AllianceCup going to whoever won a match between the Garsian and Northern Remorovian leagues.

ARKAN PRO SOCCER LEAGUE
Season 5
Reigning Champion - Arkan City Crew

Season 1 - Despia Desperadoes
Season 2 - Arkis Shadows
Season 3 - Arkan City Crew

The largest league in CONRAGAF once again kicked off, looking to be another stunning season. Would the reigning champions Arkan City Crew look to add to their legacy and win a third GloryCup in a row, or would a new team step up to the plate? What would the newly promoted Ryo and Martz do in their first season after being promoted? Will Arkan City's Trafik Okolot continue to show his skills, or will new faces, such as Delfix's Smeti Gernativ or Yellowbridge's Gregor Ivilchanko, show up the young star? Will we see the highly anticipated league debut of Nikoli Silvat for Despia, or will he spend another year on another team? All these questions and more were asked at the start of season five of the Arkan Pro Soccer League.

Ryo, who was promoted last season, and Yellowbridge came in second and third respectively, punching their tickets into the Globe Cup. Sadly, New Leo, who was in Globe Cup last season, and Tristus, who was promoted in season 3, would find themselves relegated down to the Arkan Promotion League.

Promotion League
Season 5

After Martz and Ryo were promoted last season, the Arkan Promotion league became one of the most talked about leagues. Now, three teams would be relegated from the APL to the new Mazrid League, and only one team would be allowed into the GoldCup. The league's teams, now vying to get promoted and not get relegated, began their quest to win the HonorCup, get promoted, and not get relegated.

After thirty games, Alfden SC won the HonorCup, barely beating off Matro and Uliv in a close race. Alfden and Matro would join the Arkan Pro Soccer League after being relegated from it in season 2 and season 1, respectively. Sadly, Herozoto, Cratet, and Helit would find themselves relegated to the Mazrid league, two going to the East, while one goes to the west. Nikoli Silvat, who played for Uliv this season, took the Player of the Year Award and Golden Boot, when Gerot Olokel won the Golden Glove.

Mazrid League
Season 1

With the growing strength of Arkan's international presence, more teams popped up across the country with the goal of one day representing them in any international competition. Unable to cope with the large amounts of teams wanting in the league, the Mazrid League was formed. Named after former President of Soccer Arkan Eden Mazrid, the league was divided into two divisions, East and West, based on location on the divider line. This would cause for some questions, such as who would get promoted, who would be called champion, and where do relegated teams go? Thus, the agreement that a championship match between the winner of the East Division faced off against the winner of the West Division to be crowned champion, along with granting their division an additional promotion spot.

Relegation, however, was a bit more difficult to decide. It was decided early on that three teams would be either relegated or promoted, though they did not figure out what would happen if all the relegated teams went to the same division. Thus, the Temporary Relocation Clause was created. If the Temporary Relocation Clause would be enacted, the lowest seeded team to be relegated would be put into the opposite Division in which they are normally in. Agreed and signed off on by 60 of the 62 teams in Arkan, the TRC would allow any relegation problems solved easily.

DREAMPLANET SUPERCUP - SUPERTAÇA DREAMPLANET SEASON 3 (2002-2003)

SPORTING CD 0-1 COEREFENTE

Image

Sporting CD were seen as favourites to win the treble yet again, and they faced Coerefente, which wasn't expected to put up a fight, however they were in for a shock as Coerefente took the lead in the 73rd minute after a Paulo Filipe free kick deflected off the wall and into the back of the net, Sporting CD fought hard to equal the score, but were unable to overcome Coerefente's intimidating defence, as they kept a 1-0 score which they fought hard to get.
Due to Libon United already being qualified for the Globe Cup and Real Island CD being ineligible, Coerefente qualified for the Cygnus Cup Winners' Cup instead.

DREAMPLANET CUP - TAÇA DREAMPLANET SEASON 3 FINAL REVIEW (2002-2003)
REAL ISLAND CD 1-4 LIBON UNITED
Image

Real Island are a fallen giant, dominant in the 1990s but struggled to find form, Libon United lived in the shadows of their rivals for a long time, and this was a great opportunity to make a name for themselves, but things started slow for Real Island, as Libon United went into the 2nd half leading 2-0, and shortly after the second half began, a penalty was given to Real Island, with a red card going for the Libon United goalkeeper, Raul Mendez. The penalty was converted and less than 7 minutes later, Real Island had yet another shot, it beat the goalkeeper, hit the bar, went on the line or past the line (depending on who you ask), and bounced out, Real Island claimed that it was a goal, but the goal wasn't given, with most of the team surrounding the referee, Libon United had a chance to restart quickly, with only 5 players of Real Island not around the referee, they got outnumbered easily, and with 5 minutes from time, Libon United scored again to secure the cup. Libon United fans were delighted to be able to win a trophy, and Real Island fans were angry at the referee's decision.

Artani (74,000), Mar Sara
Artani was built as a crown jewel of Vanorian football and is considered by many to be either the best or second best stadium in all of Valanora. It has all the amenities one would require of a modern stadium, with WiFi and a pair of scoreboards, one at each end of the stadium in a corner. The city's monorail system picks up and drops off passengers at the stadium every fifteen minutes, making it easy to get to no matter where in the city you might reside. A string of restaurants and hotels provide convenient lodging and cuisine for the visitors to the city and attendees of the Flames matches, while a park on the south south of stadium provides beautiful scenery as you approach and leave the grounds.

Final Site Bids
Champions Cup Final
Arena Kirola / The 66 Stadium
Capacity: 85,500
City: Cathair, Audioslavia
The 66 Stadium, called the Arena Kirola for marketing purposes, became the home stadium of the Audioslavia national football team for World Cup 66, for which it was built. One could call the Kirola Arena 'modern', but as the word tends to imply abstract minimalism and modest use of space, the word isn't quite the right one to use. The arena features a large shopping complex, complete with cinema, an array of chain cafes and restaurants, three gyms, a swimming pool and even a sauna. The conference rooms are numerous, large and lavish, and the media centre for visiting journalists and television crews is arguably one of the biggest and hi-tech in the world.

As for the football part of the stadium, one could be forgiven for thinking it was an afterthought, squeezed in at the last minute between the vast media complex and larger of two fast food restaurants. In truth, the narrow, long pitch is perfectly suited to the cautious, defensive, kontrapuntzeka brand of football played by the Audioslavian national team and adopted by club tenants 1830 Cathair, who not only won five LigAnaia championships at the ground but also their first and (to date) only UICA Champions Cup trophy. Rivals AC Izotz Zubia also won their Champions Cup trophy on the same ground. The narrow playing area, towering stands (the FFA's insistence on large, comfortable seating for each punter necessitated the stadium's vertigo-inducing height, with three tiers encircling the pitch) and large roof lets little light in during the day, but keeps the sound of the crowd echoing around the arena allowing for a deafening atmosphere. The the state-of-the-art floodlight system, bright white goal nets and high, white walls between the grass and the stands - laden with electronic advertising for big games - gives the stadium a distintive look, perfectly suited to live television.

AOCL Final
Burdina Jauregia
Capacity: 85,000
City: Ferramendiak, Audioslavia
The Burdina Jauregia, or Iron Palace in the local dialect, was finished just a few months before World Cup 75 and was used to host the opening match of the tournament as well as the fourth quarter-final, in which Audioslavia put five goals past Electrum.

The outer structure uses, as the name suggests, quite a lot of iron, if only for visual effect, and more modern materials are used the higher up the stadium you go. The ground's most noticeable feature is the criss-cross iron pattern over the roof, giving it the feel of an oversized implement from one of the Saw films when viewed from far away.

Inside, the pitch is large and surrounded on all sides by two tiered stands that rise up to the aforementioned grid. The seats, numerous and fairly luxurious as far as stadia go, are painted white in the colours of tenants KT Ferramendiak, who moved into the stadium at the end of the tournament. The stadium played host to the most recent Globe Cup final, which was a point of pride for club KT Ferramendiak, but only after arch city rivals KT Itzalovalle had been knocked out in the semi-finals of the very same tournament.

MT socialist (mostly) island state - Cultural mixture of Scandinavia, Finland and Russia -Exports iron, steel, silver and wood - Low fantasy in terms of animal species - Sports-loving - 22.8 million inhabitants.

The adjective is Savojar; Savojarnan is not a word!
I am a student of (European) politics, ice hockey fan, left-wing communist bordering on anarchy, and European federalist. Enjoy!
