The National League is the title of Audioslavia's first professional domestic football league.
For most of Audioslavian football history, domestic football was played on a regional, amateur or semi-professional basis, with most top Audioslavian players plying their trade overseas.
Professionalism came to Audioslavia's shores in time for UICA season 51, in the guise of a multi-associational league called the LigAnaia, which ran for 14 seasons and incorporated teams from all over the north east of Atlantian Oceania.
Originally, The National League was composed of three tiers, named Division One, Division Two and Division Three. The top two tiers were composed of ten teams each, while there are twenty teams in the lowest tier.
As of the start of season eight, the leagues have been arranged slightly differently. The top division, called 'The National League', or occasionally 'National One' or 'N1', expanded from 10 to 15 teams, with the second tier, National Two, expanding from 10 to 20. Both leagues run concurrently over 38 matchdays, meaning not every team plays every matchday in the top flight. Each team plays 28 matches over 38 matchdays.
The third flight of Audioslavian football is the Repechage 41, often called R41. Each team plays each other once, with 20 home games and 20 away games throughout the season.
The winners of Division One are crowned Champions of Audioslavia. All UICA places will be decided on league position.
The bottom two sides in the top tier are automatically relegated. The teams in twelfth and thirteenth position enter the Playoffs. In the second tier, the top two sides are automatically promoted, with the third and fourth teams entering the Playoffs. The four teams in the Playoffs play each other in a single round robin, with the top two teams of the four-team league going into the National League and the bottom two going into the National Two.
Seasons are played out over two years and are composed of four quarters. The first quarter runs from September until December, the second from February to May, the third from September to December and the fourth from February to May. Due to fluid timey-wimey, these two years in Audioslavian time often last about the same amount of time as one year in other countries. Audioslavian players age two years per season, most foreigners usually age just one year per season.
