Character Application

Name: Thad Carter

Superhero Name: Titan

Age: 23

Gender: Male

Race/Species: Parahuman

Appearance:
Image

Personality: Usually kind and good-hearted, Titan adopts a serious and stoney demeanor when preforming his duties as Royal Guard Captain, taking no threat lightly and weighing all options with careful consideration before making a move. He can be judgmental at times, but is quick to apologize and admit his own wrongs and faults before someone can point them out to him.

Biography:
Born of the Carter Family, Thad never saw much of his father, Fel, but yearned for his affection even through his teenage years. to Thad, Fel was the greatest man he ever knew, and he always wanted to be like his father. He studied and learned much, developing his powers of electrokinesis and rapidly expanding upon them, hoping to join his dear ol' dad at the palace as a member of the God-King's Royal Guard. However, events out of Thad's control played out, and his father wound up dead at the hands of God-King Pytor Paragon. Seething with rage and in an unpredictable outburst, Thad found himself in the God-King's Court, having extracted revenge in a blacked blur of anguish.

When he came to, he stood before Petraeus Paragon, the young prince who Fel taught and tutored. Thad collapsed into an emotional wreck, feeling an untold amount of guilt for putting Petraeus through the same pain - not knowing the Prince had come to preform the deed as well. As heavier forces came upon the scene, Petraeus took charge and stood up for Thad, who sat in awe at how much compassion one man could have for his fellow man, despite having killed his father. Thad was young and inexperienced then, but he and Paragon became friends and partners in ruling the Kingdom of Thule, Paragon even giving Thad a nickname: Titan.

Thad eventually grew into his role as Royal Guard Captain, overseeing the personal defense of God-King Paragon, and becoming an elite warrior unlike any other in the kingdom. His dreams of following in his fathers' footsteps are gone, and he simply seeks to serve Paragon and Thule to the best of his ability. Considered one of the strongest Parahumans on Thule, Titan takes his job and title very seriously in contrast with his relaxed personality.

Powers/Abilities:

Weaknesses
  • Insulators such as rubber and silicon can provide excellent protection against Titan's electrical attacks
  • With enough attraction, a device like a lightning rod can re-direct his electrical discharges
  • Titan's powers originate from his nervous system's electrical pathway, so devastating nerve damage will cripple his electrical attacks and condition.

Looks good.

As for those of you wondering about Capestagram, which appeared in Turm's latest post. First all, it was not conceived by any of us, but it was conceived back in IJ4 but never brought to fruition. Capestagram is the world's first social media site/app...for superheroes and their fans. To create a superhero account, you send in a video of you displaying and explaining your powers. The creators of Capestagram themselves have truth superpowers, mysterious though they are, to prevent any frauds. Fans can also make accounts, and your character doesn't have to reveal their secret identity unless they want to. Also, Capestagram has also begun to be used as a dating service.

Now this is exclusively for superheroes and their fans, but if the demand is there, I can see about making something similar to supervillains.

Name: Birger Audunson

Superhero Name: Berserker

Age: Technically over 1,000 years, but is actually 23

Gender: Male

Race/Species: Human

Appearance:https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRCpF95mdjPhMPuq4o13HLSxKTNGiVujcCEEP3hUUEn9mJALzs1_g

Personality: Birger is a curious, observant person. He is extremely outgoing, logical, and optimistic. He is also an honest and self-controlled person.
Biography: Birger was born in the eleventh century, during the wane of the Viking Era. He was a member of one of the last Viking raids. He assumed that they were going to attack a normal monestary, but instead his compatriots attacked a hidden island which was a mage training ground. While his allies were slaughtered, he was one of forty men to escape.

On their way back, they fell into a terrible storm, in which the boat sunk, and thirty-nine men drowned. Birger was the lone survivor, due to the watchful eye of Brenda Gunnirdottir, a warrior mage from the same enclave the Norse attempted to raid. Birger was taken back to the enclave, where Brenda hid him for three years. Soon after, they were discovered, and the lead mages trapped Birger and Brenda in a magical coma and hid them.

The enclave and its contents were kept a closely guarded secret by the British Monarchy. By the time of the American Revolution, King George III was looking for a way to quell the rebel Yankees, so he awoke Birger, and tricked him into believing that George Washington had kidnapped Brenda. In reality, Brenda had disappeared, and none of the Monarchy knew where she was. King George convinced Birger into helping him stop the Americans.

Birger arrived in New York, eager to kill George Washington. But as he saw what was happening around him, he instead joined the Revolution as Washington's personal armsman. Once the war ended, he put himself back into the coma, and became a privately guarded secret of the executive office of the brand new United States of America. He went with the promise that he could be awakened in times of dire need.

Birger saw action in almost every war the United States entered. His appearances throughout history have been at many major events including the Battle of Gettysburg and Iwo Jima.

He was awoken by President Reagan, who was attempting to discover a secret American spies intercepted called, "Valkyrie." Reagan showed him pictures the Soviets had of a blonde woman wielding a sword and a spear that appeared across history. Birger saw his beloved Brenda for the first time in centuries. He took off in search of her, only to find her mind wiped, intent only on serving the U.S.S.R. He failed to help her see reason, and instead put her back into her coma. Overcome with grief, he took his beloved Brenda and left to New York City, where he put himself back into sleep.

In 2013, Birger was awakened by a cop who ventured into the sewers after a convict. The city was embroiled in a gang war. Birger agreed to help, and soon earned his nickname: the Berserker, due to the fact that he would rush in swinging his axe. The city was returned to order within the year. During the gang war, he found that one of the gangs was using magic. It turned out to be descendants of the same enclave he attacked centuries prior. He demanded that they restore his beloved's mind. They informed him that if he would slack off on dealing with his gang's activities, they would help. Once they were a few heads, arms, and legs shorter, they saw reason, and Birger was reunited with his beloved Brenda.
Powers/Abilities:
(Use this bulleted list within the box to list your powers. Yes, you may have more than 3 powers/abilities, just add more bullets using two brackets and a star. Descriptions accompanying your powers would be great as well!)
Magic Coma Birger can send himself back into a magical coma until being reawoken by the magic spell required.
  • Viking Endurance Is incredibly strong, can endure immense pain
  • Berserker Rage The more pain he receives, the more crazily he attacks

Weaknesses
  • Berserker High If Berserker receives enough pain, he will go past Berserker Rage and become insane, attacking everything in sight until he becomes exhausted.
  • Viking Pride Tends to dislike asking for help.

Equipment: Battle Axe, bulletproof vest under armor, metal shield magically affected to appear wooden, along with whatever toys the governments gave to him.

"Just don't get anything on the seat," said Tony before Natalie jabbed him again. Tony lead the two out to the car and said, "How far away are we allowed to go. Because I was thinking about swinging by the doughnut shop a mile or two from here."
"I'm in," agreed Natalie, "I'll buy if Cee can go. In fact, we should sit in the center of the giant donut on the roof after we get our order." Natalie turned to Cee, "Are you interested?" In reality, it was a pretty childish thing to do, but Natalie and Tony had done it before and it was fun. Of course, she was certain that dozens of people already wanted to do it, but were too afraid to say it.

The spell is a series of words that were found in a spellbook in the enclave. When used backwards, it puts someone to sleep. Normally, it wakes them up. The set of words can be changed anytime to wake or put someone to sleep.

Character Application

Name: Clarence

Superhero Name: Clarence

Age: ???

Gender: ???

Race/Species: Crystalline entity born from cosmic energy

Appearance: Crystal-like, obviously.
Image

Clarence can generate a thin outer layer of very tiny crystals that can be oriented and rearranged to his whims. This allows him to shape-shift into different organisms with relatively high fidelity. Imagine he's like a really high definition liquid-crystal display.
Image

Personality: Clarence is relatively uninitiated in human conduct aside from some basic knowledge through observation. Political correctness is a foreign concept to him, and he is often confused when people are upset by his words or actions. Clarence is a rather whimsical and mild-mannered fellow overall, but he occasionally has a temper.

Biography: Unlike most other sentient lifeforms, Clarence wasn't born. His consciousness is a condensation of pure cosmic energy, trapped within a mineral deposit deep inside an utterly unremarkable space rock. Caged within a meteoroid, this sentient being could do little else but wait until its liberation.

Eventually, Clarence crashed down onto Earth during its prepubescent years, along with other meteors that supposedly contained the precursors to life, at least according to one theory. One of many craters along its surface, it was Clarence's misfortune that he found himself buried beneath layers upon layers of rock once more. Thus, Clarence waited and waited, riding the geological waves until the movements of the tectonic plates slowly pushed him close enough to the surface for him to be unearthed by excavators.

Immediately he dragged away to a place called Area 51, where researchers investigated the strange electromagnetic signatures being emitted from his body. It was during that time there that Clarence gained a grasp of his electromagnetic prowess, aided by researchers that saw potential in him, potential as a weapon. They also taught him to speak, using a contraption designed specially for him. Thus, a hero was born. Born through a secretly funded governmental organisation out of a mentally unstable extraterrestrial entity. Your tax dollars put to good use.

Powers/Abilities:
  • Electromagnetic manipulation: Fairly straightforward. Clarence can manipulate electricity and magnetism. Passively, an electromagnetic field keeps Clarence's body together.
  • Crystal manipulation: Sort of. Clarence can manipulate his own crystalline body. He can rearrange entire limbs, change shapes and create a highly specialized outer layer of crystals which allows him to shape-shift to some extent.
  • Enhanced durability: Fairly evident considering he's made from a particularly strong mineral. Sufficient force can still introduce cracks and breaks. Overwhelming force shatters his body into pieces, which needs time to re-assemble.
  • Vacuum Energy: Clarence's electromagnetic manipulation is fuelled by this infinite source of energy, which he passively generates within his crystalline body. This makes a shard from Clarence's body a rather appealing (infinite) source of energy.

Weaknesses
  • Limited shapeshifting: Only visually. It's easy to identify Clarence as non-human, as the realistic outer layer is still crystalline in nature: hard and cold to the touch.
  • EMP: Disrupting the flow of electricity and generation of the magnetic field within his body will make him fall apart in a pile of crystal shards.
  • Energy Drain: Using his electromagnetic manipulation too much will tap the energy reserves in his body faster than he can passively replenish them. When fully drained, the outcome will be largely the same as if he were struck with an EMP.

Equipment: A suit (without the vest) and a trench coat. A sophisticated device through which he can send a variable current to produce his 'voice'.

Likes: Humans.
Dislikes: Humans.
Theme Song: Lonesome Stranger

I would be personally. Just not sure it really fits depending on what you'd want to do with it. Doctor Horrible is mostly a dark humor parody after all.

Name: Clarence

Superhero Name: Clarence

Age: ???

Gender: ???

Race/Species: Crystalline entity born from cosmic energy

Appearance: Crystal-like, obviously.

Clarence can generate a thin outer layer of very tiny crystals that can be oriented and rearranged to his whims. This allows him to shape-shift into different organisms with relatively high fidelity. Imagine he's like a really high definition liquid-crystal display.

Weaknesses

  • Limited durability: Clarence is tough to destroy, but a sufficiently powerful force can break him into pieces, which he then needs to re-assemble using his electromagnetic power.

So he has absolute durability but limited durability? Am a bit confused there. After you explain that, Clarence is good.

Ah, thanks for pointing that out. Poor phrasing on my part. In hindsight him breaking apart in pieces isn't really a weakness so much as just something that happens. In the same way stabbing a person makes him bleed. So I've merged both into "enhanced durability", which amounts to the same thing I intended.

Fake Thomas Jefferson.
Bad Horse.

The Evil League of evil!
Or, I have a nother idea for it, based off of my own speculation on what a possible sequel could be like.

I wonder- this world has many superheros, with the majority of them having a large public presence: would there be, instead of comic books and such, actual tabloids and news stories? Video games and movies featuring the real life historical events of a hero? Teen magazines with "Wow- Hottest Superheroine 2016" or "Take Our Quiz to find out Who's Your Superhero Boyfriend, I got ______!" as the magazine covers? Endorsements for politicians, i.e. "Brian endorses candidate _______", among other Ethos arguments? There's so much influence that the presence of these heroes (and villains) can have on society.

None of that sounds very far fetched. I think it'd be pretty amusing to mention things like these now and then.

Though I'd say that pre-2010, pop culture would be largely unchanged.

That's a fair assumption. With the explosion of social media, post-2010, we have much more limelight shone worldwide. There may even be *shudder* superhero vloggers.

Might be a thing for my character, instinctively calculating every possibility that can happen with your action as the main factor that decides the outcome would make her at the level that she'd be accused of hacking. Kind of like what happened to the number one Overwatch player in the world.

Edit, well, that person became number one without superpowers though, well, i assume it was without superpowers :p.

Yeah, that'd be interesting how a hero's hero life affect's their "normal" life. Johannes lives rich in Argentina from Nazi gold and a world-famous arms manufacturing company, and neither would have been possible if he weren't an actual Nazi with access to the gold and to prototypes from WW2. Similarly, a hero with super reflexes might pay off their tuition through completely dominating at tennis tournaments, or a hero with mind reading capabilities being able to go 90-0 in a shooter simply through mental screen-peaking.
