I could tell you once you have the draft. The current proposal you've written out would get you the support of gun carrying folk, but not of that many lobbyists. After all, their income depends on the gun debate, and your amendment would pretty much ban that gun debate in any meaningful way. So, you'd be snatching the bread from under the noses of the lobbyists. Not something they'd want.

Now, your bill is probably not going to pass anyway, so they might support it to show something to the public. I'd suggest you meet up with the Chief Justice, he would be able to help you a lot if you don't want to pass a law, but still want that gun protection. The legal route is an option.

Ill email the Chief Justice the bill too and you can suggest a meet up, or phone call or whatever works.

Strengths: Charismatic, Handsome.
Weaknesses: He's quite soft-spoken and shy. He's also said very anti-Republican things, and will never have the support of people strongly rooted in the Republican Party. However, he's quite friendly with some Republican Senators.
Bio / Ascendance to National Politics: Born in Montpelier, Vermont, he lived there his entire life. He went to college and earned a degree in political science. He served on the Montpelier City Council, was the governor, and is now the Senator. In his time as the governor of Vermont, he said that Republicans "will always be one step behind the real world", gaining a 2 hour special on Fox News. He tried to explain himself, but failed to make amends with state Republicans. That has carried on in his run for Senator, where not a single Republican voted for him to be elected.

You did it a bit in your last post, where you took control of Mr. B, who you bumped up against. Control of other player's characters is totally forbidden on all levels, even small responses. This, because a character should totally be for someone to develop, not for anyone else. Mr. B might not have been that kind of forgiving, or he might have said something. We don't know. A good rule of thumb is: Am I currently controlling my character, or someone else? If it's someone else, don't. Like making someone open a door and offer a Dr. Pepper. That's character building, and that is reserved for the creator.

Small addition: The norm here on NS is to write in Third Person Past tense. While it's not forbidden to work in present tense (looked down upon) or first person, it would be better to start with the third person past, and work from there. See what the art allows. First person needs a lot of experience to pull off correctly, and present tense is just perceived as ugly. Just a few tips for those of you who are a bit new here

Ahh, alright. I didn't know about that, so it looked like godmodding to me. Apologies.

Also, Arlenton, I have looked at your bill, and I transformed it to look a bit more 'constitutional'. Legally, it says exactly the same thing, just shorter.

Second Amendment
"Congress shall henceforth make no law curtailing the right of the people to keep, own and bear arms based on any other criteria than the direct safety of the general public or certain violent criminal actions performed by individuals."

You're doing fine, and if you're comfortable with it, don't change. Your writing is good enough to support first person. It's mare about that present tense that bothers me a bit. But you keep up the good work, without a doubt.

My bill isn't another Second Amendment though, it is called the Second Amendment Protection Act. It should clearly state that it prohibits bans and regulation, with the exception of regulating background checks of peoples history of violent crime or mental illness and that current gun laws are unaffected.

Character Name: Alistair "Arty" Sylvari
Party Affiliation: Democrat
Role: Senator of Florida (if possible: a seat on the Senate Commerce Subcommittee on Science and Space and maybe a seat on the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works)
Gender: Male
Age: 34
Home State: Florida

Strengths: Intelligent, skilled in policy-making, an above average orator, speaks Spanish and Japanese, popular with minorities (spec. Hispanic), younger voters and centrists demographic. Former combat pilot of U.S.A.F and is a war veteran of Afghanistan and Iraq (some popularity amongst conservatives and law enforcement), Father-in-Law has deep pockets (funding for campaign is adequate so long as Arkwright Industries has certain favors and contracts floated down its way every now and again)

Weaknesses: Ridiculously low tolerance for alcohol (which can be exploited), Minority (faces discrimination in right-wing news media and not too popular with extreme right voters), Young (considered inexperienced by senior senators and congressmen), Out-of-the-closet about his bisexuality (extremely popular with LGBT voting bloc, right wing news media depict him as a philanderer which lost him a few points with women voters), he is an actual philanderer though whenever accused he vehemently denies, Agnostic atheist (mediocre-poor with Christian voters)

Bio / Ascendance to National Politics:

Born to a Cuban political refugee and American mother on December 24th of 1981, Alistair grew up in Miami, Florida most of his life, attending public elementary school. During high school, he was well-noted for his ambition and political debates during classes amongst classmates and staff. Having founded several extracurricular activities and opening political opportunities for fellow students to participate in the city's council through the founding of Miami's Youth Political Association (MYPA). Graduating valedictorian of a distinguished private high school at the age of 16, Alistair applied and was accepted to Georgetown's Foreign Service School.

Unable to afford the prestigious university, Alistair's took a loan out to pay for his first two years until he was 18 and signed up with the Air Force ROTC on campus and had his education paid in full for the other two years. Excelling in his studies, Alistair was politically active during election years, mostly involved by volunteering for Democratic candidates but had supported some Republican candidates though to a lesser extent in their campaigns. Almost immediately after graduation, Alistair was working for the CIA as a foreign relations officer, having been offered a better position because of his college achievements and internship there during his Georgetown years, along with some strings being pulled by his mother's connections.

Then 9/11 happened and he found himself working on some more classified projects. In 2005, he was called to serve and was deployed to the Middle East. After having served several times in both Iraq and Afghanistan, Alistair finally returned home in early 2009. After marrying his English high school sweetheart Elizabeth Arkwright, daughter of the CEO of Arkwright Industries (a large munitions and pharmaceutical company) in December of 2009, Alistair decided that it was time to follow his ambition and become the next senator of Florida. With the campaigning bill mainly footed by his father-in-law and staffed with campaign officers suggested to him by his parents, Alistair began aggressively campaigning for the senate seat leading up to the 2010 elections. There was a lot of controversy over where he was getting the money for his campaigns and some even went after his mother After the back and forth between his Republican rival, Alistair won by over 12%. Many right wing pundits argued that minority voter turnout was a record high and that his victory was the result of pandering to low-income families, minorities, and division of the Republican party's voter bloc due to a Tea Party candidate attracting a small but sizable amount of votes away, which were mostly all right-wing voters.

The issue of his age being 29 when he won the election was not a problem as he became 30 on December 24th, 2010 before he was sworn into office.

Please let me know if there needs to be any editing/changes/ deletions, etc. Thank you. :)

This is inaccurate partly. A governor can appoint a senator. If a senator or Rep vacates their seat during their term then the Governor of that state appoints a replacement till the next election.

My word means nothing here, but I'd love there to be some lobbying. This is US politics, after all.

Also, Adele and Wingham, my secretary will contact you regarding a meeting. Could you RP Mr. Hill calling your offices for that appointment?
