Pretty sure it's "once you're 13". I don't recall having been underage while posting being a banable offense...

I find that the majority of younger people on ns are typically mature for their age. I know a few 12 year olds from my region and usually you'd never guess.

As with anything on the interwebs, you don't know for sure. That said, if you ever suspect such thing to be happening, you will report it in a GHR to the Moderation Team immediately. I don't know how to stress that enough.

Also, I would say NSG is a much more tightly knit forum than most, to the point where several NSers know each other outside of NS (some even married to each other, though I don't know if they met here).

Oh, now, people routinely lived to 18 or even 20 in the 1340s. Okay, maybe not in the 1340s and 1350s, that's when the Plague carried off anywhere between 30 to 60% of the population of Europe, but you get my drift.

They may have used 16 because it's around that age the immune system reaches adult strength, which is why mortality rates for children were so high, bringing down the life expectancy. If someone survived to 16, they'd probably have made to their 40s or 50s.

I actually read once that people back then often lived to their 40s and 50s, but the reason the average lifespan was so low is that there were a lot of dead babies.

That's the problem with such issues. It is almost never the one you suspect.
